I have a two-stage process: first stage is prep for the writing session, second is sit down for like seven hours and write the paper. My trick has been that, as I'm reading my sources, I have a separate document open where I type up the quotes I think I might use + an abbreviation of the source name + page # if it's a book. I might also prep a rough outline ahead of time, and maybe a preliminary thesis statement. But I'll know ahead of time that for example I want to use source A to talk about this topic, then sources B and C for this topic, then sources B, D, and E for this topic, and then the synthesis of all of it will be pretty much my own with some restating. And I can just have the books open or whatever to reference, or even if I don't I still have my document full of specific quotes I can pull or paraphrase and know exactly where they come from

anyway i told them at the bare minimum any time they referenced a numerical figure they needed to cite it, and since it was a paper on accounting fraud that mostly worked out. but i could tell they were citing stuff simply because i'd told them to cite where numbers came from, because they didn't bother to cite some non-numerical things that definitely needed it.

anyway this is why when you have classes that have multiple assignments for a paper to teach you how to write it, annotated bibliography comes before drafting. because you're supposed to have your sources and know what's in them when you start writing.

to current college students: PLEASE put the citations in as you're writing not as you're editing. i know it seems like a pita especially if you don't know the formatting well, but that's what tools like Purdue Owl are for. Tell it what citation format you're supposed to use, what kind of source you have, fill in the fields and it will format the citation for you.

Ratt: Reach for the Sky

Hello everyone! Today i am going to scratch an odds and ends album off the list since nothing was realy sparking an interest with me today. This album turns 30 so it is one of the older albums on my anniversary sheet; so i figure might as well take a crack at it. I’ll get started pretty quick so that we can see how this album does today. Hope you all enjoy!

City to City: We begin this slightly short album with a soothing air fade that uses nice city sound effects to create a convincing setting for the song. Guitars arrive with a nicely melodic tinge to them thats meshes with the audio samples and energetic drums rather nicely. Stephen’s vocals are straightforward and keep up a balanced level of power in the middle of everything. I could see this being a decent song to go driving to if you were looking for some good background tunes to stay off into the road with. The lyrics as usual with 80′s glam music are basic and leave most of the excitement to be left towards the guitar solos and instrumental rhythm jams. So far this album starts off pretty smooth and will definitely be a good easygoing album to break out during a lazy wake up morning. 8.5/10

I Want a Woman (Single): Now we hit the first single on the album and a vocal fade in leads to some lively guitar melodies to create a nice sense of cheer in the atmosphere. The lyrics have a little more draw to them than normal and the vocals do a great job of infusing some catchiness into the chorus. The instrumentals do well with their supporting format and toss in some standout solo riffs to spice things out as a seasoned Ratt fan may come to expect from the band by now. The solo towards the end is a good highlight point so be sure to pay attention to it. That alone will help to make this one of the stronger live tracks for the band to play live. 8/10

Way Cool Jr. (Single): This is the other single for the album and it brings forth a more rustic blues opening to the guitars. This a nice change up to add in some extra spice and hit the listener with some 70′s Aerosmith like traits. Stephen’s vocals prove consistent and move things rather smoothly with a fitting sense of catchiness that doesn’t seek to capture all the focus onto itself. It creates a rather interesting sense of balance with the instrumentals and avoids keeping their support elements from feeling bland and basic. The subtle use of brass is a smart move in the background since it helps to add in some fresh party vibes with any of that “been there done that” feelings. I’ll actually rank this one pretty high since it showcases the band taking a little more risk in their sound while still keeping things easy to follow; and in line with their genre. 9/10

Don’t Bite the Hand That Feeds: The drums start this to a steady rhythm while the guitars focus on spicing things up with a short solo. The more gritty rhythm in the background is a strong focal point since it gives the album a little roughness around the edges that it could use. The vocals do feel a bit unsupported by the instrumentals though still remain consistent with delivery standards on the last few tracks. Overall though this one still retains a nice sense of catchiness to it in the instrumentals; so while it appears a little lower in quality it is a pretty catchy piece to listen to during your car drive. 8/10

I Want to Love You Tonight: This song begins with a very low grunge like guitar melody which Stephen sings over rather strongly. It does get a little rough once the instrumentals pick up a bit so it falls short of being the strong powered ballad piece that you may have been hoping for on this album. It does still showcase them experimenting with some diversity on the album even if it does feel like it chugs along slowly. Luckily the vocals do have moments where they manage to break some catchiness into the song; so it won’t be a hard track to sit through; it’s just clearly a middle range track for the album. 7/10

Chain Reaction: The drums open this half of the album with a nice sense of rush and the guitars use it to develop a nice sense of charge. The riffs are easy to dance along to and immediate up the strength in the album that was starting to be needed. The vocals match the instrumentals in their added dose of life and party thrust; which will shape this song to be one of the best live picks from this album. The solos space things out rather effectively and should do a good job of shaping this up to be one of the highlights on the album; and they definitely placed it at a smart point in the album. Because of it’s placement here; the album should reinvigorate the listener a bit for the next couple tracks on the album. 9/10

No Surprise: Stephen enters with an interesting yet odd vocal fade in before simple guitar riffs arrive to establish an easygoing rhythm with the drums. The vocals keep a straightforward spoken format that seeks to keep things in the simple route. This causes it to miss the catchiness that you were hoping for during the chorus. Other than that this is a pretty straightforward Ratt track that gives you what you want; but is easily classified as standard grade material from them. Not quite filler level but definitely a track that emphasizes things as opposed to enhancing them. 7.5/10

Bottom Line: The guitars begin on this track with a nice sense of force and some fitting rawness to them as well. Stephen is a little extra angsty on this track which will accentuate the rough edges on this track rather nicely. I could see this being a safe live track that would get an audience dancing easily enough. Other than that, this is another pretty straightforward track to listen and get the picture with. 8/10

What’s It Gonna Be: Now here is the album’s ballad track that begins with a very emotionally cheerful guitar melody. This will definitely contain some Poison like riffs during the beginning before Stephen arrives. He delivers a rather smooth set of lyrics that set the song up very effectively for the chorus. It is still simplistic lyrically but for this type of song it is what you would expect from an 80′s glam band. It does contain a little repetition as one may expect but it does set the album up pretty well for the finale track which hopefully will be a strong finish to the album. 8/10

What I’m After: This finale track begins with a little push to it that showcases a nice rhythm that develops a good sense of tension in the track. Stephen delivers melodies a lot stronger than usual and as a result captures a good sense of catchiness for the listener to engage with. It would make for a decent live track due to its melodic traits. As a closer i guess it fits since the stronger melodies on it could be viewed as a fitting sense of farewell. I would of rather a more climatic finish but this will work well for what it needed. 8.5/10

Overall album rating: 8.2/10

Well, this album scored alright for a group. It’s not a bad album to play during a long road trip even though the latter half of the album did start to show their bland moments at times. As for an anniversary pick it was good to get a 30 year old album up for other people to discover; even if it was a random toss up decision. Next week i will try and focus on some more of the anniversary albums as the year begins to close and hopefully i don’t leave out too many of the good ones. Hope everybody enjoys reading!

I came to north Carolina at the beginning of August from FL to stay with my aunt while I got my finances in order and she recovered from her back surgery. When signing up for progressive, I signed up with my Florida drivers license number and my new nc mailing address. A couple of months later I received a letter from the state of Florida saying that they were notified my geico insurance policy was cancelled and to provide new proof of coverage. I went online and provided the information but apparently made an error when selecting the insurance company name. I accidentally selected protective insurance company instead of progressive. I was made aware of this error when I received a license suspension letter yesterday. Since then I have notified the state of Florida Of the error. I then received notice that my insurance was still not acceptable because Florida requires that if I have a florida registration, i must have a Florida policy. I called my insurance who confirmed that although they provide Florida coverage, I was under a nc policy even though I provided them with a Florida drivers license number since my mailing address was currently nc. have a few issues I could really use some help with. The family car that I have been driving wasn't in my name but I was still covered on the insurance until one day I hit a mailbox with the passenger side mirror. Anyways, then a couple weeks later a different family member (not the owner) had a little bit of a bigger accident when an animal suddenly appeared in front of the car forcing another accident. I have not had an accident in over 12 years but since I was mentioned after that second accident, I was also excluded from the insurance policy for that vehicle. The insurance cost is something like $158.00 per month but now they want the owner to add about $50 or $60 more per month EACH for the 2 people that were excluded because of the accidents.The car payment is about $415.00 per month and the insurance was $158.00 per month for just the owned which does not even drive the car at all but now they want an extra hundred per month for those 2 excluded drivers if they want to drive that car.
