whenever i play splatoon my brain like. does not register the dissonance caused by knowing its post apocalyptic. people will bring up the horror of humanity's death and ill just be like "haha those wacky humans" like thats !! me. thats us. that skeleton playing the wii u in that sunken scroll is a human. was one. the professor who preserved judd and tartar to the era was a person. thats me playing splatoon story mode. and then i turn off splatoon and the horrors really hit

#reblog #splatoon #hey buddy. i think you might be lost #“idc much about the humans in splatoon :/” on a post specifically about the human world building #i wont lie and say splat3's story mode has absolutely no issues in that it failed to provide character building for deep cut #but thats also where the news comes in #splatdevs/squid research labs handled deep cut poorly i think by making most the characterization come from the books and news #which is. now skippable so a good majority of people probably don't watch them and don't get a lot of stuff #and also the absolute dumpsterfire of localization that their personalities are (supposedly) nothing like their personalities in jp #sources say that frye in jp gets her old man vocabulary from her grandpa and shiver uses language that reflects a type of jp storyteller(?)#which aren't reflected at all in english as frye instead uses more aave terms that have become popular in general culture #and shiver. idk. shes just silly.#no one's said anything about bigman i havent seen any posts #but i can say “i wish the devs expanded more on splatsville” and also say “i appreciate the link with humanity in storymode”#bc i think they did a good job acknowledging what happened was incredibly horrific but remained sympathetic instead of #just going humanity was all dumb and they deserved to have died and be replaced bc its such a tired take #splatoon could have just gone “you dont need a diagetic reason for why the inkfish are so similar to us :) you know its so you could relate #and immerse yourself into the culture“ but they didnt and made it diagetic and i think thats very cool #idk. i think its just very funny of you to go onto a post abt someone going “i like what splatoon did with the humans in the story :)”#just to disagree with it when theres like. way more popular posts talking abt how much storymode sucked #no ill will to you thats just really funny to me #you can post your opinions to tumblr but watch out.
