shilo is just such a fucking compelling character because hes NOT a good person but no one including him seems to really recognize that. like he always gets what he wants. he has no real understanding of the value of a life that's not his own; he dominates people with reckless abandon, he has other people get him blood, and yes he was stifled all his life but he was still a prince. so when faced with the reality of his sins and faults, i mean . of course he's not going to want to acknowledge that. and so he doesn't. because he always gets what he wants. and i'd imagine it's especially hard because he doesn't know whether all the bad things he's done have been choices he's made or if it's just in his nature to manipulate and control everyone he meets. i mean it's a scary question. which one is worse? he tore out his own eye without hesitation and it just fits maddeningly well with the willful ignorance he's displayed from the beginning. it's just so much easier to be able to look away. so far he hasn't had to face any consequences. i think his story has always been and will always be a tragedy
