rose is quick to read post-irony as actually being a joke/insincere, which in bro's case would be true. but i believe dave's natural instinct, outside of the influence of bro, is to read post-irony as genuine, which is exactly how mom serves it. we see this as early as act 3 from him; he understands her motives better than rose does herself:

but the thing is, it's always genuine from her. dave wouldn't have to second guess it because he's not one to naturally second guess someone's sincerity; that was learned due to his bro being virtually unassailable

there two types of ironies at play here:

seems like a joke, is actually genuine (roxy)

doesnt seem like a joke, is actually a joke (dirk)

you can make the argument that the second is is more psychologically destructive because it makes you question the reality of what is genuine sentiment and what isn't. dave never knew what was genuine and what was irony so he just sort of existed in this sincerity-ironic limbo and always did the opposite of what he genuinely felt on principle even if it always did originate from a genuine place.

"it just a joke bro i was just being ironic i dont actually x" is so much more trust-breaking and psychologically damaging than "wait are you being serious" / "i am being so fucking fr rn davy gravy" / "ok thats actually pretty fucking awesome. giant ass wizard statue" / "RIGHT"

how much about dave would change do you think? his character arc would be completely different for one thing, i think he'd have it good aside from mom's alcohol issues. he'd be left with the sweet and funny parts of him that we see at the end of the comic. the fake coolguy stuff is out, but this remains. this is dave in his element and we see it as early as act 1

he'd probably have no shades growing up in the lalonde residence* either cause those were given to him by bro straight out of the crater as an extension of his own cool image. and john gave dave ben stiller’s aviators for his 13th birthday to replace them so he could “spread his wings”

dave said he was wearing them for the ironies but i kind of doubt it. maybe post-irony but there was some reacharound to it being genuine because dave never put those pointy anime shades on his face again.

dave is actually a lot more genuine and easy to read than he lets on even when grappling with his upbringing with B1 dirk (again, see this post). this can be seen all throughout he comic but a good example is the evolution of thoughts about his interest in the preserved dead things in his room:

if B1 roxy was dave's guardian he probably WOULD have pursued paleontology because she wouldve indulged him in it and probably find it cool and worthwhile to pursue, instead of allowing dave to flounder under ironic detachment, being poisoned by irony to the point of gaslighting himself into believing he doesnt actually believe he thinks this shit is cool. even if it was indulged in this such a way; a superficially kitsch and ironic appearing presentation, it comes from a genuine place and inspires genuine interest. just read the comments.

basically, i think if B1 roxy raised dave, their relationship would have a surface level appearance of being bizarre or over-the-top but they’d have an unsaid mutual understanding that it’s completely in earnest and just build on each other's funny and absurd gestures of affection. rather than seeing it as one-upping each other, it'd more like collaboration of some silly bullshit that you take a step back and look at full and just say, "fucking incredible"

Nick let out a loud yawn, tapping Y/N’s forearm. “When are you gonna go to bed?” He asks curiously, “Uh, I’ll go do my skincare now so we can sleep soon.” Nick hums in acknowledgment, getting up and following Y/N to his bathroom to help her with skincare.

After a few minutes of Matt and Chris being alone, the younger brother sits up and looks at Matt over his phone. “Matt?” He says gently, a hint of nervousness in his voice. “What’s up, Chris?” Matt mumbles, still mostly focused on playing Clash of Clans on his phone. “I think I like Y/N.” The younger brunet blurts out, not knowing how to start the conversation. “Is.. that a bad thing?” He finally says in a caring tone after a beat of silence, “I..” Chris stutters, staring down at his lap as he thinks. “I don’t want it to be a bad thing.” He replies. “Then why don’t you tell her?” Matt has now moved to sit next to Chris, rubbing his younger brothers arm comfortingly. “I can’t do that. What if it ruins our friendship? What if she doesn’t like me back? What if I don’t actually like her? What if I me-“ Chris starts rambling anxiously, which Matt cuts off by shoving his hand over Chris’s mouth. “Dude. Calm down. It’s fine, you’re fine.” He says bluntly, but clearly with brotherly love. Chris mumbles a “sorry..” through Matt’s hand, “Chris, shes your best friend. If she does, it wont ruin your friendship. Promise.” Before Chris could reply, Y/N walked back downstairs. “Chris, I’m using your shower.” She says casually as she walks through the room, then towards Chris’s bathroom as Nick’s shower can be heard being turned on elsewhere in the house.

Matt stood up after a few minutes of silence, “I’m gonna go to bed.” He said, glancing at Chris. “Me too, night Matt.” Chris stands up too, both the men walking to their respective rooms.

After half an hour, Chris hears his bedroom door open. He glances up and sees Y/N stood at the door in a bra and pyjama shorts, and all the blood immediately starts rushing down south, and to his pale cheeks. He cleared his throat, “Uh.. can I help you with anything?” He mumbled, trying not to stare right at his best friends chest which was on full display. “I forgot my pyjama shirt, can I borrow one of your shirts?” She asked, oblivious to his distraction. “Can you not borrow one of Nick’s?” He says with a raised eyebrow, but still climbing out the bed and getting her a shirt. “I’m pretty sure Nick’s asleep, I don’t want to wake him up.” She replies, walking over to take the shirt out Chris’s hands and pull it over her head. A subtle smile tugged at Chris’s lips, “So, where are you sleeping then?” He asked curiously, glancing down at the shorter girl as she readjusted her hair out the shirt. “I’ll just sleep on the sofa.” The girl replied with a nonchalant shrug. Chris raised an eyebrow and gently grabbed her elbow, pulling her just a bit closer. “You can sleep in my bed, it’s big enough for 2. I don’t want you to sleep on the uncomfy couch.” He said softly, smiling slightly at the girls slightly flustered expression. “..okay.” She mumbled shyly, following Chris to the bed.

“I like seeing you in my shirt.” Chris said without thinking, a blush immediately covering his and Y/N’s face. Y/N stayed silent, unsure of how to reply. Chris stayed silent too, quietly cursing to himself in embarrassment. After a few minutes, Chris can hear Y/N’s breathing softening. He glances over to see her peacefully asleep, and so he decided to try sleep too.

The next morning, Chris wakes up first. He pauses when he feels a weight on top of him, looking down he sees Y/N with her head on his shoulder, one arm around his waist, and one leg thrown over his hips, her knee placed right on top of his erection. Chris’s face turned a bright red, a small groan leaving his lips as he tried to subtly shift Y/N off him, but of course, Y/N wakes up.

“Fuck..” Chris whispers to himself, gently nudging Y/Ns knee off his crotch and making sure to keep his throbbing hard on away from her. “G’morning..” The girl grumbled, clearly still half asleep. “Morning.. I need a shower.” Chris says, standing up and grabbing a shirt before bolting out his room and towards his bathroom.

Chris quickly strips and gets into the shower, he debates for a moment about turning the shower cold, but he decides not too. Instead, his hand trails down and slowly wraps around his shaft, a low moan leaving his plump pink lips as he slowly starts to stroke it.

Y/N walked in without thinking, only to be met with Chris naked stepping out the shower. Both paused, a bright red spreading across Chris’s pale cheeks and up his ears. Y/N, after getting over the shock, tried her best to not look at Chris’s on-display crotch. Chris scrambled and grabbed a towel as Y/N turned and quickly left the room, yelling a “sorry!” as she bolted down the hall. Chris quickly tugged his boxers and sweatpants on before bolting after Y/N. “Wait- Y/N!” He yelled after her.

i wanna talk about this scene because its one of my favourite character moments for both aaron and neil. theyve just gotten to the cabin, only a handful of days after nathans death, and aaron gets neil alone and says this:

now listen. maybe what aaron is doing here is exactly what it looks like. maybe he is concerned that neil is exploiting andrew, and this is him being a protective brother. and i do think theres a part of him that is. he could also be reacting badly due to homophobia, and maybe a part of him is too. but mostly -

he's testing neil.

see, aarons not totally heartless. in that moment in baltimore, when neil was bloody and beaten to shit - aaron was horrified with the rest of them. he might not like neil particularly much, but when you see someone you moderately dislike tortured past the point of human endurance, youre going to put aside your dislike for a second. youre going to take their side, and aaron does. when the foxes claim neil, aaron is right up there with them.

but unlike neil and andrew, who spend the next few days in the emotional wringer with the feds, aaron had several days to process. to really process what allison pointed out to them.

and he realized he could use it.

maybe thats callous of him, but mostly its inevitable; this is how the twins have learned to communicate, to leverage each other with bribes and threats. he watched andrew nearly kill kevin, pick a fight with the feds, grip neils hoodie like he might disappear if he didnt hold on tight enough, and he understood that there was nothing andrew wouldnt do for neil.

meanwhile, neil is still coming off of weeks of telling himself, gritted teeth, its fine so long as andrew doesnt care about me, its fine so long as andrew doesnt care about me, its fine so long as andrew doesnt care about me...

hes barely begun to acknowledge the much less dangerous fact that he has feelings for andrew. less dangerous because if andrew doesnt care about him, then neils death wont hurt him, and neils feelings cant be hurt if hes the one that dies. but if andrew has feelings for him, then this whole time hes been risking that his death would break andrew - break the very person he most wants to protect.

so neil denies it. hes made the first wobbly step towards freedom, but he hasnt yet dealt with the moriyamas. he could still die at any moment. wrapping his head around his fathers death hasnt given him enough time to break those weeks of conditioning himself in the dark. andrew doesnt care about me. andrew cant care about me. neil will go to war for andrew but the idea that the converse is true is too dangerous to look at directly. to protect andrew, to protect himself, he denies it.

but when aaron asks neil if andrew will fight for him, he's not really asking. we can see it in the casual way he shrugs off neils denial. he doesnt care what neil says. he wants to see what neil does. he already knows - or has a pretty strong bet - what andrew will do. what he needs to know is if neil is serious.

listen, i am personally of the belief that if andrew released aaron from his deal for neils sake and then things went sour with neil, andrew would respect the broken deal anyway. but i dont think aaron sees that - he hasnt yet fully internalized that andrew does things out of his own brand of fairness, and not out of malice. so he needs to know; andrew will fight for this. will neil?

so he lobs a grenade at neil, a loaded accusation, and neil comes back swinging. and theres aarons answer. neil isnt exploiting andrew, hes not just playing around. hes as viciously protective of andrew as andrew is of him and those two repressed assholes might not be saying it with words, but aarons not stupid. andrew gave himself away when neil went missing and now neils showed his hand too.

We had been careful not to leave any traces of our relationship, but I guess our luck ran out.

Kenan was making a snack, moving around the kitchen with ease, while I sat on the counter, swinging my legs and laughing at his attempts to flip the pancakes

He finally managed to get one to flip perfectly, and I clapped my hands, proud of his progress.

“You’re getting better,” I teased, reaching out to steal a piece of the pancake.

Kenan grinned, coming closer to offer me a fork. “Only because I have a good teacher.”

I smiled, about to reply when my phone buzzed on the counter. I picked it up, my heart skipping a beat when I saw Ferdi’s name on the screen.

“Hey, Ferdi,” I answered, trying to sound as normal as possible.

“Hey, where are you?” he asked, his voice sounding curious rather than suspicious.

“I’m… just out,” I said vaguely, glancing at Kenan, who was raising an eyebrow at me.

“Out where?” Ferdi pressed.

Kenan shot me a playful smirk, and I mouthed, “Stop it!” at him, trying not to laugh.

“I’m, um… at a friend’s place,” I said, hoping Ferdi wouldn’t ask any more questions.

“Which friend?” he asked, his tone suddenly more serious.

I hesitated for a moment, and that’s when I realized Kenan had gone silent. He was looking at me with a mix of curiosity and concern, clearlypicking up on my nervousness.

Before I could come up with a lie, Ferdi spoke again. “Never mind, I’ll just come over. Send me the address.”

My heart dropped into my stomach. There was no way I could hide this now. “Ferdi, wait, you don’t have to—” I started, but he had already hung up.

I looked at Kenan, panic written all over my face. “He’s coming over.”

Kenan’s eyes widened. “Now?”

I nodded, my mind racing. “What do we do?

Kenan sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I guess we just have to tell him the truth.”

I bit my lip, feeling a knot form in my stomach. I knew Kenan was right, but that didn’t make it any less terrifying. The thought of my brother walking in and finding out like this was enough to make me want to crawl under a rock.

We didn’t have much time to think it over. In what felt like seconds, there was a knock at the door, and my heart nearly stopped. Kenan looked at me, his expression softening as he took my hand.

“It’ll be okay,” he said, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.

I nodded, trying to take comfort in his words as he went to open the door. Ferdi walked in, looking around the apartment before his eyes landed on me sitting on the counter, and then on Kenan standing beside me.

His expression shifted as he took in the scene, a mix of confusion and realization crossing his face.

“Wait… are you two…” Ferdi started, his voice trailing off.

I held my breath, not knowing what to say. Kenan stepped forward, his voice calm but firm. “Ferdi, we’ve been dating for a while now. We didn’t want to keep it from you, but we were worried about how you’d react.”

Ferdi blinked, looking between the two of us as if trying to process the information. There was a long, tense pause, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.

Then, to my surprise, Ferdi’s expression softened. He let out a breath and shook his head slightly, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “Honestly, I’m just relieved it’s you, Kenan.”

I stared at him in shock, not expecting that response at all. “You’re… not mad?”

Ferdi chuckled, walking over to stand beside me. “Mad? No. I mean, sure, I’m a little annoyed you kept it from me, but I’d rather it be Kenan than anyone else. I know he’ll take care of you.”

Kenan let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, visibly relaxing. “Thanks, man. I promise I’ll take good care of her.”

Ferdi smiled, giving Kenan a light punch on the shoulder. “You better.”

I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face, the relief washing over me like a wave. All this time, I had been so worried about how Ferdi would react, and now that it was out in the open, it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

“Come on,” Ferdi said, turning to me with a grin. “You guys owe me a proper explanation. And I want some of that pancake Kenan made.”

Kenan laughed, shaking his head as he grabbed another plate. “I’ll get you some.”

gorgeous, very caring sister, strong duelist, and the only woman to ever make Seto Kaiba squirm

anyways. not only as mentioned above is she the first woman to make kaiba squirm, but she was by all means going to beat him if not for the millennium rod's millennium interference. yami marik admits that she's a strong duelist with a strategy that's been working for literal years-- and given that she's not like, a professional duelist, thats pretty impressive

she also recently got some really cool meta bumps and let me point out that an "ishizu deck" now includes obelisk the tormentor-- which we knew she had prior to giving it to kaiba, but i think it only solidifies my opinion that she very much could wield an Egyptian God Card, an exclusive little club for top tier duelists

as a character she presents herself with an amazing amount of poise and grace, shes compassionate and kind and stays with mai and serenity even though she only just met them. shes struggling through living the past 5 years of her life drowning in guilt for her family's tragedy just because she wanted to make her little brother happy and shadi is a fucking liar. shes foretold her own death and marches towards it grimly but with so much love in her heart. and even then shes 20 years old and holds an important position in the egyptian government that typically requires a doctorate degree AND has been dealing with mariks off-and-on bullshit entirely by her lonesome. she also likes to flex her fortunetelling a little which is awesome i think she should do that more that scene where she tells the guy exactly how the stele is being transported was so everything

speaking of shes got such an attitude. "is it your destiny to waste my time?" iconic. never seen before will never be seen again. watch the duel between her va and joeys its so fucking funny

shes excult. shes doesnt flinch in the face of god nor death. seto kaiba and yami marik respect her. shes so sad and so sweet and battle city couldnt have happened without her.

also her parallels with kaiba are what motivate kaiba to give yugi the card he needed to beat marik.

kaiba, in duelist kingdom, was ready to jump off a ledge if yugi didnt let him through to face pegasus while trying to save mokuba out of sheer desperation to save his little brother. he KNOWS what that dedication feels like and the iron kind of will you need to have to make that kind of gamble. isis is being so fucking legit with what shes saying and he respects that and her judgement enough to change his mind and not only watch the duel, but give yugi a card that eventually helps him win, even if he has no real confidence in the odds. but theres a CHANCE, which is the same thing he taught her when he beat her in a duel. the layers its her faith that moves him to act. which is so crazy

She is so clever and determined, doing the most work out of anyone to figure out the myth plot. Actively trains to keep up with the rest of cast. Even when the universe is conspiring against her and trying to keep her down, she fucking headbutts Roger and tells him off or manifests to help save the world in the ultimate girlboss team-up that was the Arc V finale. Truly any dimension without her is worth upending.

if there was ONE thing that i knew i wasnt gonna be- it was a dentist. i never went to a dentist until i was what- 18? That too for a cleaning. all i remember was my mom taking me and my bro to a free dental camp when we were kids, and all i saw was children with gauzes in their mouths and one side of their face swollen because they had a tooth extracted and they were CRYING!!!! and this one girl kept on pulling the gauze out of her mouth and her mom like warned her not to do it 3 times, but then when she tried to pull it out a 4th time, her mom SMACKED her face right in front of everyone- and i thought thats just a universal experience to anyone who went to the dentist. i did not let go of my mom's leg and begged her to lets just leave (thankfully we did, and fortunately neither me or my bro had cavities)

anyways, fast forward to applying for med or dental school. i thought i was dumb for both. i wanted to go to med school but the one i wanted to go to, i didnt get in. BUT the same school was offering me a seat in dental school so i got in, because it is one of the best dental schools in the country and also cause i wanted to save up on fuel because my bro went to medschool at that place.

honestly, i never thought i wanted to become a doctor. i always dreamt of going in arts, graphic designing or becoming a writer. I've always loved writing and reading stories, as a child i was soooo into horror stories- like any adult who would be telling a horror story and i'd be in a trance, staring at them without blinking as they spoke, as if i was the one who was in the story. then yall know the "english teacher praising your writing skills" lore and that really made me interested in stories.

There was this one line from x men where as the movie ends, xavier says "but every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward" and i thought it was SICKEST line ever. best believe i wrote that shit in the end of every story/essay and the teachers ate it up.

but then dad had already told everyone that i was gonna be a doctor, so.... yeah, i couldnt let him down because- he made it so public. it was intense. also i became a doctor because if i chose to become anything else, everyone wouldve constantly compared me with my brother because "he's the doctor, so he's smart. and youre just sooo dumb snow" and yeah.... i guess that was stupid because i dont really care what people think of me now, respect me or not. at the end of the day, only Allah can give or take away your respect. literally no one else can do anything.

as for the root canal, ive never had one done, but ive studied all about it. if its done by a good dentist, youre all good. get it done.

Part: One

synopsis: Rotxo isnt kind when he is hurt and he regrets it almost instantly.

Ao’nung was now more confused than ever. First he does his best to respect Rotxo’s wishes in not teasing you. And actually gathered a good friendship with you and your siblings. And now hes acting as if he had betrayed him? 

He was a lot of things. But more importantly he was hurt. He was more than a friend at this point. Had been with him since they were kids. Both brothers by the soul. 

“So?”

Ao’nung turned to look at you. His gaze was angry and hurt. 

“So what? I don't want to talk with anyone right now”

 You watched him go. You were confused. Just a couple minutes ago Rotxo pushed past you. Hissed at you even and now Ao’nung left without so much as explaining anything. 

It made you worry more for them. 

You figured you could talk to either of them after they cooled down. So you started heading to do your own thing. 

But hearing a frustrated cry, making you stop dead in your tracks. Following the sound you found Rotxo by one of the hot springs. 

He looked so defeated. Alone in the pool. Alone in the woods. And it really made your heart break a little. 

“Stupid Ao’nung. Stupid feelings” he spoke. Unaware of you walking up to him. 

“Rotxo?” 

Turning to look at you. Taking him by surprise he fell into the water. “Y/n!”

“Mind telling me what is wrong?” you asked cautiously. Feeling his chest rise and fall as he stared at you. 

“Nothing is wrong. Why don’t you go talk to Ao’nung?” He spoke rolling his eyes as he picked himself up and put on his loincloth. 

“Ao’nung? What does he have to do with anything? Did you two fight?”

“What? He send you after me? To fix it?”

“What are you on about? I’m just worried for you”

“Why?” He yelled now circling you staring deep into your core. “Why Do you care about me?”

“Because i like you Dumbass” 

Now it was dead silent. You two are staring at each other. One of pure shock and one of Disbelief. 

You couldn’t believe you just said it so openly too. You had never meant to tell him this way. 

“Don’t toy with me. I heard you”

“What are you on about Rotxo?” 

“I heard him. I heard the two of you.” 

“What did you hear!” 

“ I heard how Ao’nung told you how he thinks you are Attractive” 

You raised your brow. Confused as you watched him stalk towards you. Eyes boring into you as you could only shrink into yourself .

“Why do you care when your probably off doing who knows what with him”

“Excuse you?” You retorted back. Now standing straight as you glared up at him. Inches apart as you glared daggers. “ How dare you think that of me?” 

“I think a lot of you. But now i dont know what to think. Maybe just a side piece for The Olo’eyktan’s son.”  He didn't mean it. He wanted to swallow those words as soon as he said it. Seeing your cold expression turn sour and hurt. It made him regret everything that’s lead him to this moment. 

“You are pathetic as you are foolish. I like you. I like you too much to voice it into words now. I only asked Ao’nung if he found myself attractive because i thought you thought me displeasing you fool” You cry pushing past him as you stormed to the sea. The cooling water is surely to be welcomed. 

Rotxo watched you go. And it was a burning pain that snapped him out of his haze. 

Even if you had wished to be with his best friend he should have been happy. And he’s ruined it.

He’s ever more so upset that he’s pushed you away.  

And the days seem to bleed together. Was all that he could manage to think. Long were the days that he hung out with anyone. He hadn’t really left his Family marui since then. Tending to his younger sisters and doing whatever his mother or father asked of him. 

His mother noticed. The once happy boy now has tired eyes, his smile didnt reach the light that it once had. It worried her how her happy boy was growing so… dead. 

“Itan Tell me what’s the matter?” Rotxo looked up at his father. 

Now he saw how his two little sisters and mother looked at him. Then looked at his father. “I done something terrible” 

“Well my boy you surely didn’t kill anyone. Surely its not that bad-”

“I implied the person i like to throw themselves at whatever men look at them” 

Now that silence was something he expected. He also expected the clash of the clay plate his mother dropped. 

“You did What?” 

He expected the Yelling and the harsh grab at his Queue where his dad’s large hands held. 

He really screwed up, he knew that. He knew when he saw their pained expression. He knew even if he got scolded or got added to his chores. There would never be enough words or actions to take back that pained look in your eyes.

The past and present QSMP admins deserve support, but only to an extent. There have been instances of them displaying terrible behavior, and the QSMP community needs to stop ignoring/excusing it. The xenophobic remarks made by Lea and Lumi. Lea's baseless speculation on Twitter that Quackity's brother was working for the QSMP is what caused people to dox Quackity. Lea showing no remorse for leaking Quackity's information and causing his safety to be threatened. Some of the admins were very insensitive about the doxxing. Quackity's safety was actually threatened, and they were saying/agreeing with someone saying "womp womp" about the stream where he spoke about how he felt physically unsafe. And now we have the actions of Puella and other admins defending them.

The QSMP community's continued parasocial behavior toward the admins is just very frustrating for me to witness.

Onto what you said, I don't know who needs to read this, but you ARE allowed to respect someone/ support them AND be annoyed by their words or actions. You are allowed to like someone, and dislike some of their actions. You can support the admins, be annoyed by how they were treated by QStudios, and also be disappointed by what they have said or done.

Personally, I'm disappointed by Lea's xenophobia in her interview that was strictly about her experience with the studios. She used this as an opportunity (whether it was intentional or not) to say xenophobic remarks towards the Spanish speaking community. Nevermind, the fact she never apologised for, and, even tried to justify, doxxing Quackity. She said that her doxxing Quackity was no where near as bad as what she went through during her time working with QStudios. Doxxing is NEVER the answer. I'm severely disappointed by her ignorance and xenophobia. That does not take away from the fact that she did suffer. I respect she was under poor working conditions and I support her in getting treated correctly and paid fairly. Absolutely I do. But I cannot support and will not support how she treated Quackity or the Spanish speaking community.

You can draw your own conclusions and do your own research on the matter. I am not here to tell you what to think. Those are just my thoughts.

In terms of Pomme, I'm not aware of much she's done. I know her support to Otipep and I read somewhere that she did not translate her statement leaving Qsmp into Spanish, but did so for all Portuguese and English. To be perfectly honest, if she had only posted it in French, I would not have cared or been mad. We can translate it ourselves or use an accommodation to do so. She should not have to do that for us, but she did and proceeded to and leave out Spanish as part of the transition, and, again, i dont know if that was intentional or not. But she didnt make an attempt to fix it. (Korean speakers were not yet added at this point).

I want to say one last thing about the admins:

hi im gonna pretend i didnt get this asked to me by somebody else before i clicked a wrong button and tumblr erased the whole post. taking this unbiased opportunity to jump into these characters.

i have had these ocs for upwards of 7 or 8 years, who went untouched for a VERY long time before getting picked back up and refurbished as of about 2 years ago. it is with MUCH pride i tell you that they intertwine very deeply with a friend's own ocs (YOU!! WHO SENT THIS!!) and they've helped me build up these characters into something i'm incredibly proud of and ought to share by now

without further adieu: some pirates, some 19th century fantasy (a LOT of fucking fantasy), and like 8 years worth of worldbuilding that i am STILL not done with. enjoy

FIRST of all let me show you who we're working with:

Who the hell is that?

Leo Blackwater (he/him) - 56 yrs, 5'6'', 152 lbs

Captain of the ship The Eclipse.

Widower of 19 years. only recently decided to open his heart back up; she wanted him to be happy, after all. She's a sensitive topic, even now. so any prodding or teasing on the matter of moving on will be met violently.

Bounty hunter. Smuggler. Doing pirate things, you see. Polite old dad, a warm personality to lure you into a false sense of security and turn you in for a pretty penny.

Disabled after a beam cracked and landed on his knee, breaking it. It never healed right, and hes slower for it, especially in old age. Despite this handicap making him more vulnerable, he does not carry much in the way of weapons.

Eldest of 6 siblings. Son of a humble small town fisherman; perhaps not all that glad for his son's criminality, but the money he sends home makes it forgiven.

Father of one, a daughter, captain of her own ship.

Formed his love for the sea at 18 on his father's fishing boat. Never much respect for the Navy proper. But, after being in the right place at the right time and earning the reward money for a highly wanted pirate, he started to get ideas...

Percius (Percy) Blackwater (they/them) - 48 yrs, 5'10'', 150 lbs

Younger sibling of Leo. 3rd child of 6.

Takes up a number of jobs on Eclipse. Took up the role of second in command after the passing of Mrs. Blackwater.

Respects and trusts their brother's choice in livelihood. Begged since they were young to let them sail with him. Didn't realize what it entailed until they were already aboard.

Unmarried. They're a bit busy right now.

Willing to be called uncle by their beloved niece, for lack of a better word.

Betelgeuse Blackwater (she/her) - 30 yrs, 6'5'', 240 lbs

Captain of The Starlight, all-female crew.

Bounty hunter. Smuggler. Learned her way of living from her parents.

Inherited her face and density from her father, nothing else. Prone to brute force rather than wit and cunning. This works for her just fine.

Quite awkward, if she likes you.

Eldest (and favorite) grandchild, an only child, a totally different woman if you see her around family. Towers over father, but makes herself small for a kiss hello.

Was only about 7 or 8 when her mother passed. She remembers what little she has of her fondly, and greets her kindly when she looks in a mirror.

So whats going on?

What a funny question!!! I got no clue. But I'll start by explaining a little worldbuilding lore (cringe explination incoming):

There is magic in this universe. Not one that's denied or marveled at, but exists as much as everything else you dont pay attention to around you. Its as real as gravity. It's a honed skill in some, frowned upon by others, used unwisely by a small (but not unheard of) few. Magic makes itself present in a number of ways; it's hard to find written rules of these things unless you know precisely what you want and what you believe in. In many areas, some small towns appear to be protected by nameless elements and energies. It's more often that you find individuals who put in the work to harness their beliefs into something tangible, all calling their faiths and abilities something different from each other. Again, its not unheard of for individuals to use these abilities for their own poor intentions. If someone like Leo is lucky, bagging a Magic user is worth every ounce of hassle it takes. He seems to get away with feats like this often, though port authority fears him enough not to ask how. The Blackwaters won't admit foul play, though, if you're in the right town listening to the right gossip, you might hear a rumor or two about Betelgeuse's warm touch and a spitfire attitude when shes angry.

So whats up with Leo?

As aforementioned, Leo has recently made himself a bachelor. He has no shortage of acquaintances and colleagues in his line of business. His demeanor, if you trust it, is very welcoming to new colleagues. He's not looking for something to jump too quickly into, he's happy to take things slow as he navigates romance again after so long.

And then he captures Roark.

Roark Renshaw (he/him) - 68 yrs, 6'6'', 250 lbs (CREATION OF @skelelephant)

World's worst man.

Captain of The Red Hound, took this position by force at the age of 21. The crew that remained after his mutiny had naught the will to defy him, choosing to follow out of curiosity more than anything else afterward.

Professional menace. High-seas whore. Good old fashioned murderer, committer of pirate crimes as you'd imagine. Terribly smug about it.

Unknown origin, unknown motive. He cropped up out of thin air and has made himself a name to be feared ever since, doing a service to the red flag The Hound flies.

For all his force, he is not one easily captured. For all his reputation, he is reckless. He caught Leo at a bad time, unfortunately.

Roark is a household name among most port towns, wanted dead or alive for the better half of his life by the Navy. His nature is not unlike that of a rabid dog, compared often to his ship's namesake. It is a state of being that none have been able to tame him out of, not by any rotating carousel of lovers he finds among port towns or the enemies he finds in equal amount, and one that gives the bounty over his head a lot of zeros. One that Leo, for all his skill, saw as a pipe dream. Leo knew of him, certainly. Roark has been on his radar since before his wife's passing- they'd spoken of capturing him fondly, joked about like some impossible fantasy. But for all his reputation comes bad habits that lower his guard when he needs it most. Stumbling drunkenly out of a tavern one evening, docked unknowingly at the same port as The Eclipse, he is disarmed and captured before he knows it.

This is a victory unheard of. It seems only fitting that Leo Blackwater would bag him, Roark having not expected to meet his match in such a mild man. Before the crew of The Hound have enough notice, Eclipse sails off to deposit the dog that is Roark Renshaw to the navy for a glorious execution, and an even more glorious reward. Leo has the gall to boast this to his prisoner, who seems almost humored. Hes quite charming when hes disarmed, a feature of his that seeps into the cracks of Leo's resolve and that itch the loneliness that he had yet to satisfy. Hes dangerous even with his hands tied.

This is what solidifies Leo's decision to turn him in. A man who so loved to be chased and so loved the rotten attention he recieved, who needed to be put down. It was a thrill, though, to capture the hound himself and be one of few to ever do so. To be revered as Roarks captor would make one want to do it all over again.

By luck or by the hunger for chase that gnawed on Roark and Leo's ribs, Roark finds the moment to escape as hes being escorted off the ship. Leo, notably, makes a piss poor attempt at catching him.

Seen as a dire fluke from the outside, the captains know it was on purpose. They've found themselves amidst a game of cat and mouse, that gives them a small purpose for at least a little while. You bond very closely when trying to kill each other, you know!

So what's their deal?

Well, their deal is that they *make* a deal.

Though Roark might be a big fish in their career pond, he is not the only one. Eventually, always eventually, there is another to challenge Roark's reputation. He wants the pirate out of his way, and Leo could always use another bounty. But hes slippery... moreso than Roark, who lets himself into Leo's jaws on purpose.

So... an alliance is formed. Temporary, of course, they split this bounty and part ways. So they say. But Roark is a charming man, and fulfills the loneliness and search for companionship that Leo wanted... and Leo is collected and steady, more than the majority of Roark's colleagues. They stand out to each other. They're comfortable. Attached.

So... after the bounty is collected they choose not to end their truce. Spend more time together. Work together exceptionally well. Balance each other out, in a way.

So they're together?

Their alliance spills over into something... fond. Affectionate, even. A few meetups at a port town turn into a lot more working together peacefully. This leads to some... interesting wires to cross between their own respective enemies, interesting wires between one another. They get to know each other very personally in some strenuous circumstances.

Anyways! Now that they're on the table, I feel a little more comfortable to talk about them more. Draw them more. Answer some questions, if anybody has any. I did leave a lot open-ended...
