The Kwamis! Some of these came easier than others, but since Angelic Layer has no magic involved, all the kwamis became human~ They won't be very prevalent, they're mostly here to fill in background character roles - shop clerks, MCs Tournament Directors, fans - so they won't have a whole lot of speaking roles (aside from, you know, the MCs who're there to commentate on the fights lol). But I thought I'd give them all a nice nod in the story somewhere.
As expected, Tikki and Plagg are the main MCs. Marinette and Adrien's fights will be going on concurrently so Tikki will be commentating Marinette's fights while Plagg commentates on Adrien's. They'll have the most dialogue of the kwamis, so I do want them to have unique ways of discussing what they're seeing.
Pollen will be working directly for the Bourgeois'. As a VIP with a direct relationship with the international director of Angelic Layer, Chloe has her own private practice layer in her home and Pollen is in charge of it's upkeep and maintenance. She matches Armand the Bulter's levels of competence.
Trixx is a Rena Rouge mega fan. They've been following Alya's blog for as long as they can remember and are mega stoked that Alya moved to their city. When Alya starts to doubt herself, it's Trixx's voice that can be heard cheering her on to not give up.
Nooroo and Duusu are servants in the Agreste Estate. Unknown to Adrien, they are fully aware of his sneaking around to play and the two do what they can to make excuses and deflect Nathalie when Adrien isn't where he's supposed to be. They're rooting him on from the shadows!
Wayzz is the adult son of Marianne and Fu. He brings them to Angelic Layer fights against his will because the two really enjoy them. The two seem to be really invested in Ladybug and Chat Noir's career (and the behind the scenes shenanigans that they secretly spy on).
Longg is Kagami's bodyguard. Like Nooroo and Duusu, they are fully aware of what Kagami is doing behind her mother's back and feigns ignorance when Kagami pulls something..."sneaky" to get to a fight secretly.
Here's where we get into some existing jobs from the show:
Orikko and Kaalki are the "Layer Hot Girls (and boy)". lol I just thought it was funny that Angelic Layer even has them.
Mullo is the sales clerk at the Princess Piffle store (the store where you can buy your Angel and all the accessories). All of them lol. Mullo and her many many sisters who look just like her.
Barkk and Fluff take similar but still different roles (the uniforms are ALMOST the same but there are some tiny differences). So Barkk is the receptionist at the Practice Ring (literally you pay to reserve a mini-layer to practice on) while Fluff is the waitress/cashier at the cafeteria at the Tournament Center.
(and back to making shit up lol)
Daizzi is a nurse where Rose goes to the hospital and she has segmental localized vitiligo. Rose is particularly close to Daizzi since she helps Rose make her donations to the hospital.
Sass is the backstage directory, aka, the guy who makes things run. He has an earpiece that has the same diamond pattern as his pants on it! The anime does show one person who helps backstage, but I wanted to have a little fun with Sass's look and tie in to him being "in charge" of the kwamis.
Ziggy works at Socqueline's family art supply shop, which is frequented by Angelic Layer players who are on a bit of a budget. They love talking with the customers about their angels, though mostly the design part.
Stompp is Ivan's foster mother and Roarr his foster sister (Stompp's bio-daughter). I actually didn't think of what kind of job this outfit would be good for, but I think she'd make a good security guard - usually working at rock concerts, which she bonds with Ivan over, but she's also been hired for Angelic Layer tournaments. Sometimes sore losers get a little...violent.
Roarr falls in love with Juleka's Angel Purple Tigress immediately thanks to her pre-existing love of tigers in general. She's even bold enough to proclaim her love to Juleka herself!
Xuppu is Ondine's sibling and a fan of King Monkey, though they'll go out of their way to make fun of Kim himself. Secretly, they're very invested in Kim's career and get very upset on his behalf when he loses.

Have you watched Murder Drones, and if so whatâs your opinion on it?
Also your art is great, keep it up.
Thank you!
And uh. Man. I may make an enemy out of another indie fandom because I donât really like this show.
I actually loved the pilot and thought episodes 1-3 were incredible, if a bit too fast paced. But episode 4 was kind of a breaking point for me and I dropped off after that.
I donât think itâs very funny. I think it relies too much on Bathos and it makes it hard to take its cast seriously. As a black comedy it mostly worked for episodes 1-3, but 4? No.
It does this thing I really despise in media where it has themes of genocide but like⊠heavily deprioritizes it and often portrays it like a comedy. Itâs supposed to be funny when innocent characters are murdered because theyâre just goofy side characters but when itâs a major character suddenly we have to care, and I donât like that at all. The main character has a meltdown over finding out that murder drones are sent to kill her people at the end of the pilot, and then in episode 4 sheâs murdering her classmates and crying because a boy she likes might think sheâs weird. I actually find it pretty frustrating that the robots are portrayed as incredibly cowardly because theyâre slowly dying off and scared to die and then theyâre hanging out with V who casually murders random children and nobody reacts to it.
I actually do like the idea of a character whoâs not reformed but is kind of forced to stick around but when I see her murder characters, traumatize children and then go âhaha I just have mental problemsâ and everyone just⊠moves on, I just cannot bring myself to care. It causes such a massive dissonance and not in a fun way.
I think itâs very frustrating and unengaging when a story about people doing the right thing and trying to help others has no interest in helping those theyâre trying to save.
I think the female cast is solid but I did kind of raise my eye a bit when the only major female character that was killed off was a victim of genocide while the other genocidal characters, two of which gleefully murdered her fucking parents, are just allowed to hang out with the rest of the cast. Uzi especially lost a lot of sympathy for me when she was more emotional about freaking out N than murdering her classmates. Like yeah, they werenât the nicest to her but itâs weird to establish a character wants to end genocide and then⊠barely reacts when they also indulge in that genocide.
I donât really like the characters at all. I donât like Uzi, I found N irritating and boring (and gives me anime harem protagonist vibes), I thought V was a tryhard and I couldnât really care for the rest of the cast. I liked Doll but lol, you know how that turned out.
It also has this problem of having an overloaded cast with very little breathing room. I really wish the show just had one, low stakes episode, so we can actually get to know these characters and collect their thoughts. Itâs actually one of my concerns for TADC, because as much as I do like that show, I think âno fillerâ with constant story is going to make or break the show for me. Itâs too fast paced and no, I donât think itâs good that you have to rewatch an episode 4 times to understand whatâs going on. I donât watch indie shows to play whereâs Waldo, information should be explained to the audience in a way that feels digestible and natural.
The animation is incredible and the stuff that came out from the finale was insane, but at times it just felt like jangling keys in my face. Like donât pay attention to rushed story, underdeveloped characters and bizarre tonal whiplash, look at the cool fights. I dont think it does horror well either. In fact I kind of cringe a bit when characters a big wide grins and giggle evilly and itâs mean to be intimidating and it just. Doesnât work. Feels a bit juvenile honestly.
And. This is a very personal thing. I donât like the robot designs.

I just realized it's been nearly a month and I haven't reported back to the western Soul Eater community the live experience of the Soul Eater Exhibit so here's what I got for you!
First of all, these are taking place at Animate stores and if somehow you think you can make travel plans within the next month or two, there is a third showing in Kyoto happening in January. When entering you are given a random shikishi board and if you paid extra you also get a sweatband (but I did not). I went with a friend who happened to live nearby who helped a lot with getting tickets but they were at the door available as well.
The entrance was a small area that featured the main promotional image and the Excalibur floral display replicating the one in the manga.
Beyond the entrance there was no video allowed and at certain points no photos allowed. Mostly at the end where there were a bunch of Shikishi boards with signatures from staff and voice actors.
What I didn't realize from pictures is that the manga pages shared are the original pages showing all the techniques and mistakes on page. I wish I could share them all but Tumblr is not the place for that. The one I did want to share is a page where presumably Ohkubo and an assistant played tiktaktoe and made and aiaikasa for Renton and Eureka from Eureka7 which was also being released in Shonen GanGan at the same time.
Not all pages of the series were shared and it was more favored to the first half of the series with different section to highlignt characters and story beats. The first main area was after the first curtain (photo above) had Maka's scythe and a copy of each volume hung up on a side wall. You then go through a set of curtains with souls on it into a large space that had the main pairs and additional charactera from the volume art blown up with the corresponding introduction chapters. This is the space with the replica of Shinigami-sama's room. This led into a hall featuring Crona and had a decal of Crona and Maka's shadows holding hands on the ground. Then there was the Excalibur Wall. My memory after that is a little fuzzy because I was distracted/self conscious(Was very amused by another pair as the clear fan explained the series to her friend); if I remember right there was a second hall showing the brew arc then Black Star's final Mifune fight and then a corner space representing the Arcane fight with a blown up decal of Maka in her black blood dress. The space didn't feel like people should walk in it, there was a thin foam on the floor and words from the panel dangling down so you couldn't really see much of the art. Early spartoi passes by really fast in favor of a wider hall with the killing of Medusa; pages on the right with corresponding blown up art on the left. At the end was a giant wall featuring the moon. Then it the pages of the final fight and the display ends with curtains showing Maka and Soul diving into Asura's black blood to find Crona.
The major bit at the end is there is a fully voice acted section of the final chapters of Soul Eater with the manga pages manipulated to it. The motion graphics weren't crazy amazing, about what you'd expect out of a storybook style pv. You were not allowed to take photos or video of this section. So a whole voice recording of what the finale of the manga could sound like could become lost media unless it's released somehow. There's a small final room showing the pages of the final chapters art. A large acrylic display of the meisters in their final character evolution that's backlit. A final space shows off the colored art, the originals if the were done traditionally. There's a small selection of new art, really long piece. Ones that has the og cast and the not girls which probably was during the not era but I don't remember ever seeing it. And then a spread of Spartoi plus Not. Liz and Tsugumi have the best fits in it but I feel a lot of people will like Crona's shirt best. Ohkubo signed a print with a sketch of Maka at the end alongside the two pieces that he love drew on the opening days. In the same space is where the signature shikishi boards were. I was extremely sad that I couldn't take a pic because one had some sort of Maka that was gorgeous but we speculated that it was to avoid signature fraud.
After that you took the stairs down to an extremely tight store. I realized too late that there were no photo signs however it feels like I'm missing some pictures I had taken from my gallery.
This is where I'm gonna be hella real, I do not fucks with Ohkubo's Soul Eater art in recent years. I saw a guy on Tiktok standing by it was his Twitter sketch style but that doesn't work for me with official products. From the perfect edition cover art, to the exhibition special art, to the two??? new pieces for the encore art book; it all feels extremely sloppy in terms of linework, posing, and proportions. If someone were to tell me it's a result of burnout, I would respect that easily but none the less I did not buy anything with the exhibit art on it (sans the pamphlet) more grab the art book. The art book is probably not worth it either unless you weren't able to grab the previous ones. I probably will eventually get it when the English one comes out next year and I probably would've saved money if I bought it while I was there but the weight wasn't worth it and I had in fact spent „42,000.
For all the things I did buy, I do regret not picking up some items; an art board from the other artbooks, the sticker set A, the mini towel, and one additional set of the cookies and coffee but as seen above I grabbed a lot and felt pretty aware I had a full basket compared to everyone else. You could also only make one purchase per a ticket and sadly only one commemorative bag per a purchase (I still ended up with two due to my friend). The final thing that you may want to know is the quality of said good; the plushies are worth it simply for existing but could've been higher quality, the „7000 (roughly $50) hoodie I bought was extremely thin and has shed so much from the inside that I have yet to wash it in fear it would disintegrate (I'm being slightly dramatic but I truly fear what will happen when I do), and while I did not buy them I did see the in person versions of the made to order items; the skate deck was a proper translation but didn't look particularly nice considering the simplicity of the design and the Soul Jacket was worse than cosplay quality made out of a really thin poly that didn't hold it's shape. „18700 yen is about $120 USD right now which is already way too much for the quality but keep in mind the buying power is equivalent to roughly $190. If you want Soul's OG jacket then I would best recommend customizing a real varsity jacket, followed by finding a used one of the original great eastern release, followed by what ever streetwear brand version of your choosing because while they might have inaccuracies, they will at least have ribbed trimming. I know I'm ragging on this pretty hard but I want to emphasize that it is an item you are not missing out on in case you feel the need to proxy order one. The most worthwhile items will be the plushies and food goods, and from there O would call the general Osaka added goods nice. Initially I was not impressed with the acrylic blocks but in person they had nice dimension. Any printed good outside of that is your own discretion albeit I don't think they're particularly going to be high value items in the future.
The final final part is I found out the day before there was a wrapped train for the show. Honestly a higher honor than I expected for the series. However the night before was spent at an Onsen a good distance away and the day of was a downpour so I sadly did not witness it as it would of likely been an effort to find.
I think that's all I can give towards the experience in writing but I will include particular sights in subsequent reblogs.

Partner M and I did a (re- for me) watch of the first half of Season 2 of Sailor Moon (Sailor Moon R for the real ones), the infamous "filler" arc made because the manga wasn't really caught up yet, and it has confirmed for me that this is the better half of the season. Which is a problem, because if you consult a typical 'watch guide', they will recommend skipping it! This is because none of the events are "relevant to the plot of the later content", i.e. none of it comes up again.
You can see the logic but guys, it's Sailor Moon. The plot generally just isn't that relevant, almost none of the events "come up again" between seasons. Whether or not it is "in the manga" isn't really a guide to what makes the anime good. Honestly a lot of the watch guides out there are bad for this reason - the plot of Sailor Moon isn't why you watch it! The plot is mid. The charm comes from design ethos and the creativity of the team, which generally gets to flourish way more in the slice-of-life-esque "filler" episodes. And meanwhile if you skip plot episodes the idea that that is a problem is, look, "this is Chibiusa. She is Usagi's daughter from the future, visiting to learn about friendship". Done, you can now skip the entirety of Season 2 if you wanted to. It's a show for 10 year olds, believe in yourself.
Anyway the "core" part of Season 2 is the worst season of the show. Chibiusa sucks as an annoying child who won't communicate, Mamoru really sucks doing the "I must protect Usagi by pushing her away" trope, and the villains are pretty weak. It spends a lot of time on not the main girls, which is a big mistake. Meanwhile! The "filler" arc of Season 2 is about two alien elves who are Learning To Love with crushes on Usagi & Mamoru (so the plot is ABOUT them), each of the inner senshi get new powers with episodes focused on them, and Usagi/Mamoru get a whole romantic arc. The slice-of-life elements are great; standout episodes are the picnic one, the Snow White one, and Jupiter's hilarious date with the main villain guy. And most importantly it is tight - full story, told in 13 episodes. You can watch it as like it's own show and it can work.
Also Mamoru's subconscious is Muslim; dude got some real Yu-gi-oh shit going on in there. Good times.
So yeah, ignore all the watch guides. If you are going to watch Season 2, definitely watch episodes 1 -13, then maybe watch a selection of the best "filler" episodes from the rest and just go right to Season 3. Or watch the whole thing, up to you, it is Sailor Moon after all: charming even when it is at its worst. But don't skip the arc because it is "filler".

Now caught up with Mermaid Melody Aqua
When this originally started my involvement was mostly about gawking at Lukia's design and I only read a couple chapters before dropping off, but now I'm caught up. Aannnddd how do I put this... it's hard to gauge how critical I can be since this is clearly aimed at a younger audience, and also romance stories aimed at tween girls are already such a punching bag, but... this is the first time I'm considering if I should give a mal rating of 1/10 to a manga. I've read other Nakayoshi series and for the most part have been able to find something like or at least end with a wishy-washy "I'm not in the target audience but I guess it's okay for what it is" sentiment, but this one just has so many issues, in addition to a myriad of stuff that personally pisses me off.
The story is about the original series' heroine's teenage daughter Lukia, who, as anyone who knows anything at all about this manga, looks exactly like her mother for no reason. The ocean is in danger again and Lukia has to marry this one merman to prevent a catastrophe, but she is in love with a human boy, who doesn't know about her mermaid identity and is into both her human and mermaid personas separately and struggles to choose. There are also some magical girl battles. So not that unusual of a shoujo premise.
I tried to think of what my biggest issue with the manga is, but it turned out to be difficult since there are so many to choose from. For starters, I can't think of anything I like about Lukia. Obviously for someone who is into fun anime designs her look is an immediate 0/10 for being an exact copy of an existing character, but it also makes the story harder to follow at times when it's difficult to tell if a character is supposed to be Lukia or her mother. But even apart from the character design she's just so bland, and doesn't have much other passions than lusting after a boy and doing the plot, and even with the plot she's just sort of passively stumbling through. Like in the part where she's being pushed to be with her fiancé and she just limply goes along, and overall it feels as if she spends like 95% of the story looking flustered.
The boys are pretty generic shoujo love interests, and in general in control of the situation while the heroine blushes and follows. They also have little else going on outside chasing Lukia, and get into arguments with each other over who gets her while she feebly stands on the side (her opinion is irrelevant).
However despite the people in the main love triangle being extremely unlikable to me, somehow I'd say that the returning MMPPP cast draws the shortest straw in terms of characterisation. The former heroine Luchia has two roles; either she is the butt of the joke as an embarrassing mum, or an obstacle to Lukia's romance who pushes the arranged marriage, and both are depressing when you consider how she was originally a typical magical girl heroine. More often than not Luchia and her friends are more often than not written like immature teenagers, and at their lowest swoon over how attractive Lukia's fiancé is (all the while the readers are shown how unhappy Lukia is about having to marry some rando).
Lukia spends majority of the series thinking about men, and she doesn't really get proper friendships to balance that out. At the beginning the series does introduce a new mermaid as a friend to her, but they quickly fade into being just an accessory to Lukia. It feels like when the series wants to have a "the heroine is doing fun stuff with her girlfriends!" scene, it just has Lukia hang out with her mum and her mum's friends (who never grew up), which is kind of cringe.
Then there's the fanservice aspect; this is a shoujo series but it sure likes to have Lukia wear tops that show off her sizable rack and skirts short enough to show her butt cheeks. In one scene Lukia is just flat out naked so the main guy can walk in on her. And the mermaid tails have been drawn to display the curves of their legs, which to me creates a kind of grotesque effect when it looks like their feet have been cut off from the ankles.
Then finally some complaints about the overall storytelling, it's just so clunky. Like Luchia reveals that Lukia is a mermaid and already engaged, and Lukia runs off in anger. Next page she is introduced to the mascot and has some banter with him, and two pages later it's already the next day and we're at school. You would think that Luchia would at least try to talk a bit more about how her daughter's life is about to take a huge turn, but apparently nothing that was important enough to show to the reader happened during this time. In general there are a lot of moments where transitioning from one scene to another, or even from panel to panel, is noticeably clumsy. Characters also feel like they act just however the scene needs them to.
I am aware that there are plenty of women and girls who are into this kind of love stories where a big strong man shows up to swoop the blank slate heroine off her feet (just think about the popularity of Twilight and 50 Shades), and I would imagine that Mermaid Melody Aqua is aimed at 12-year-old girls who want a "sexy" romance with hot boys totally devoted to the viewpoint character. But I've never been there so I can't relate, and if I had to think "well someone else probably likes this" every time I think of writing a review I could never criticise anything. So let's just close with the sentiment that with the laziest character design imaginable, wet rag of a heroine, super conservative gender roles in the romance, inconsistent and dull characters, undignified portrayal of original series heroines, unappealing fanservice and overall weak writing this is a good contender for my least favourite manga ever. The story isn't over but it's hard to see how it could crawl out of this hole.
#mermaid melody#I want this in my own tags but the series is not over yet so I can't use the closing thoughts one#but it feels like it's almost over so the first impressions tag doesn't feel suitable either#I'll go with the closing thoughts one since unless something big happens I don't think I'll have much to add for a final review#so:#review I guess

So I'm still thinking about Mel and Viktor in a Soul Eater au đ
I've only watched the anime so I'm going more based on that, but I know/looked up in the past what happens in the manga when it comes to the fate of Crona and Maka.
I still think it'd be interesting to have Viktor in a Crona-like role in the story given his whole transformation arcs that, despite my MANY criticisms of how it was handled this season, are integral to his character. I'd want to find a way to give him more autonomy though, at least later down the line. I can picture Singed playing a role like Medusa but in a more oddly chill kinda way because of how he is as a character instead of actively malicious and sadistic like Medusa (he'd totally try to create a new Kishin just because). That and they're both characters who just keep making it out scot-free for either the entirety of the story or for a long ass time (depending on if you're referring to anime or manga Medusa).
Mel's relationship with Ambessa and her own secret magic made me reconsider if I wanted to incorporate some Medusa and Crona elements with them instead but I decided against that for a couple of reasons. Viktor being the one set up as a calamity in canon, fit better with a Crona-like role for this au whereas Mel is chosen by the Black Rose to be their silver bullet against him. Plus, Mel working on the council in Piltover would translate better to working in the Death Weapon Meister Academy.
Also, because of the theories around Mel and Ambessa being Kindred blessed and canon stating/implying that she has a secret magic parent, I think it'd be cool for her to either be a child of death like Death The Kid or blessed in some way by Kindred who'd take the role of Death in Soul Eater. Alternatively or additionally she could be half witch and the Black Rose could play the role of witch society in this au that tries influence Mel given her position in the Academy and witch heritage. I feel like there was a character in the Meister Academy that was secretly a witch or half witch but I can't remember. That's where the alternate/additional idea came from tho.
I've said it a bajillion times, but there's so many parallels and similarities between Mel and Viktor and because of my off hand comment about it being cool if, in a different/more high-stakes magic oriented story, they channeled some Crona and Maka energy... it'd be really cool to me personally to explore some of that in this au.
This way I can also shoe-horn in a Mel reaches out to Viktor's soul or vice versa moment like my fanart lol XD (that episode where Maka reaches out to Crona is still one of my favorites đđ especially when they paralleled that moment later down the line).
Also, I'm thinking Jayce would be Mel's weapon in this au because I feel that just fits for them, Mel being the meister and him being the weapon, since she was the main patron of hextech and he works in a forge.
When I have more thoughts about this, I'll post them too. I'm considering how the black blood plot point could affect Mel and Jayce like it does with Maka and Soul. I'm also thinking about what other characters in the show would be weapons, meisters, witches, etc. so I might make that developing list a separate post or just reblog this again and add onto it.
#i find it funny i have a handful of au ideas with meljayvik/different parts of the ot3 despite not usually being into au fics myself XD#i feel like there's interesting stuff to explore with each of them tho#might rewatch soul eater at this point#arcane spoilers#arcane#mel medarda#viktor#jayce talis#melvik#meljayvik#soul eater

[MHA / MLP] The similarities between Izuku Midoriya and Twilight Sparkle...
I NEED YOU GUYS TO STICK WITH ME, OKAY? OKAY.
So, besides being some of my favorite main characters in animated television, they both have weirdly similar stories (it might be some trope I'm unaware of? I don't know). One of the BIGGEST similarities is their mentors, who are (or were) seen by society as THE symbol. Celestia is THE princess of Equestria. All Might is THE symbol of hope-- they're untouchable.
Obviously, as the show moves on, those things are proven to be false (Celestia needs Twilight to save her a bunch and All Might reveals to Deku that he's lowkey dying).
However, that doesn't stop Twilight or Deku from looking up to their mentors and being huge nerds about them T-T (they're so cute)
Plus, towards the end of the show, it's the mentors who end up looking towards the mentees.
The characters who thought that they couldn't do anything (Twilight knew nothing about friendship and Deku didn't even have a quirk) turn into masters in their fields AND they inspire the next generations.
And Deku and Twilight both end up being teachers, at least for a bit.

ok heres your dinner
warning: cutting mention and swears. also the end part was copy and pasted from tvtropes
In the first moniyuri sidestory monika basically told yuri she leks reading freaky books im fuckin sobbinggg LMAOAOAOA
MONIKA SAID SHE HEARD THE VOICES OF HER DEAD FRIENDS WHAT??? She might just mean she can ehar the spare lines of code but then again if she could say things she wasnât meant to say so could the other like wtf are they saying to you? Not to mention a cry for help form natsuki wouldnât have been coded in the first place. Like deadass WHAT ARE THEY SAYING TO YOU
Monika would probably have longer hair then yuri if she undid her ponytail tbh
In some official art with yuris arms revealed she is shown to have no cuts. But in act one only after monika began to alter files yuri had been hinted to cut herself. But even before the file altering the racoon poem basically also hinted at it so like??
Monika often retracting her control at the last moment. Like yuri saying she needs to puke. Alternitivley sayori trying to save herself from the rope however monika also said she didnât have anything to to with sayori changing her mind.
Natsuki canonically has hentai as shown in the first sayosuki sidestory AND ITS ALSO IN THE CLUBROOM CLOSET LMAAOOO
NATSUKI USED TO WRITE SMUTTY FANFICTION (Nat is a canon freakazoid I guess)
Monika isnât a perfect student that woman started a literature club because SHE WAS LONELY ( in terms of people that also like books ) this girl was not perfect before her epiphany aswell
SAYORI AND NATSUKI CANON SELFSHIPPERS! ( as shown at the end of the second sayosuki sidestory )
the special blood poem was likely written by monika

LIKE OK STRUT THAT STUFF??
In Doki Doki Literature Club Plus, an e-mail from one of the developers who created the Doki Doki universe reveals the side stories that took place in a separate control universe that they also created. It also reveals that the Main Character doesn't exist at all in the side stories' universe, as they never created him in either one. Someone else created him in the main universe. That developer suspects Monika did after she became self-aware, as an attempt to get in touch with the "user" (presumably the player). Sayori, in the first side story, does briefly reference him by mentioning a friend who likes anime, but perhaps a reference doesn't count as an actual character given the nature of things taking place in a pre-programmed artificial universe.
HELLO WHAT????
ddlc things i think about reguarly
natsuki
natsuki grabbed yuris ass
monika is the most athletic
in like 3 or four sketches natsuki was serving too much and the poses got changed

#she chose wxs as her starter unit. i raised her well.#i mean she actually knows the proseka lore since i'm just a bit too eager about infodumping + she reads my every fic#and i showed her the main story animation#but well she's surely gonna have an awesome experience!!#especially since she's going after my preferences#so for the operation welcome to sekai she's gonna read niigo and leoni main stories next#rip girl it was nice to know you#ri says the less serious things. the tag

hotel manager
#zeno's art#i'm not sure if i should tag the show itself as i'm not a fan but i guess its âfanâart so i will#hazbin hotel#charlie hazbin hotel#vivziepop#i was bored and wanted to draw something#my main goal here was to create a design that looked distinct and could (potentially) be moderately easy to animate#of course based on charlie's character i added as many angel images as possible through the hair and bowtie#(i know white on white is a character design sin but i wanted to show the angel wing detail ;w;)#also to express the personality and juxtaposition of a sweet devil her horns are supposed to curve into a heart shape#of course the garterbelts are upside-down/st peters crosses because of her satanic themes#i also tried to go harder into the goat theme but its still subtle i think#i actually think the goat theme is really interesting because of the story of the sheep and the goats in the bible#but i cant remember if it was actually something intended in her original design#i'm not going to draw anyone else so dont even anticipate that#this was basically a cooldown? ok i think i'm rambling now#goodbye#ok edit to say it clearly: i am not a fan of vivziepop or her work. i just wanted to redesign charlie as a cooldown/exercise for fun#because i used to be a fan of the character before i wised up about what vivzie had and has done#and before i matured and noticed the cracks and fundamental flaws in her works#so yea i dont support her at all and this redesign is critical i guess#also the reason why the tag âvivziepopâ is there in the first place is so that anyone who has that tag silenced can scroll past#without seeing anything related to her work. in case that clears anything up#its the same reason why i tag âlong postâ and âfoodâ and the like

normal thing to say about your dear friend who you think is really cute and charming and hard-working and basically the perfect wife material
#hamefura#my next life as a villainess#otome game no hametsu flag#aaand rewatch done! now my honest thoughts#good start. the middle is kinda boring. ep 8 doesn't exist don't worry about it#this anime draws me in in the same way that Futari Wa does#in that it has a fascinating main cast and a very vague skeleton of a worldbuilding that leaves me wanting to overthink it#unstructured thoughts incoming:#Geordo's still a creep and no matter how much the story wants me to like him I just can't#Keith's siscon is very Yikes! and that's so bad because I love his and Katarina's relationship as siblings#Katarina lowkey thinks Sophia is a freak but never kinkshames her and that's so bestiecore of her. they're soulmates your honor#Mary is SUCH A LESBIAN holy shit. I did not remember how much lesbian she is#I'm lowkey annoyed that the show frames her attraction to Katarina as âhaha funny isn't she weird?!â#like in the sleepover episode she was describing the things she'd like to do with her beloved and she's being like. normal about it#but the soundtrack does a silly and I'm like. wow this anime does not like her huh#I swear Geordo and Keith are even weirder about Katarina than she is but the anime always gives them slack about it#unless they're having their homoerotic squabbles. which is to say the anime does Not Like The Queer Coding of the story#I'm sure there are worse examples of weeb homophobia but there are a couple moments I saw in the manga but not here!#anyway where was I. Oh right. Ascart Sibs Autusm đđŒ#Nicol doesn't have much presence in the story due to his quiet nature which is so sad because his inner world is intriguing#he's such a good friend. loyal and caring. I wish we got more of him in this season#and finally: Maria. God. what is there to say about her that I haven't already#the girl came in with a 7 year disadvantage on her rivals and yet Katarina is all over her!#rewatching season 1 is so weird because I could swear she had more presence than she really does because holy shit#Katarina loves her! so much! wtf#maybe I'm remembering season 2?#anyway these are my thoughts on doomflags season 1#2nd watch edition#oh I almost forgot#romance in chiaroscuro

when the lip differs from the lip
#aizoâs really too good for this series (sometimes). very male lead of him i have to say#he forgives his mother for being like *that* to him and still loves her despite everything#he shows kindness to people who openly hate him (mona; granted it was only to make up for his bfâs earlier misdeeds)#a n d he tolerates yujiroâs nonsense (bc he loooooves him) despite their frequent arguments and disagreements all#meanwhile yujiro openly hates on people who go after his bf (kanami 2k20: never forget⊠and chizuutan to a degree too ig)#man i miss honeypre event stories (says this all the time). i miss seeing aizo pine on main (while being dense about his own feelings)#and yujiro being salty on main (while somehow being even denserrrrrrrr about his own feelings for aizo)#those event stories truly were some of the best shipping fuel for ss lxl#(also ngl but. i liked how hiyoko was still present in their stories as the supportive friend role to themâŠ)#(unlike a certain [redacted] anime which turned her into a horrible self-insert who shoehorns herself into situations unrelated to her)#(*cough* aizoâs so-called âfake traumaâ *cough* âhow could yujiroâs family hate him when his mom makes him such a nice lunch????â *cough*)#(wished we couldâve seen more of the jk trio in the event stories though [sadge]. bring back honeypre p l s)#um anyway!!!!!! see yâall when the next lxl mv drops ig???? maybe later in the week???? sometime between wed-fri???? idk?????

okay girls im going to be a little hashtag critical here but i have been ruminating LONG ENOUGH and i really really do not like that scene in the graphic novel murder on the rockport limited where lucretia recognized the umbrastaff. i understand what they were trying to do and i understand you have to change things for the medium but its kind of a disservice to both lucretia and taakos characters imo. lucretia works so hard to keep the boys from questioning things like why would she have a reaction like that. like they couldve alluded to her recognizing it but a scene like that is so in your face and it takes power away from the scene in crystal kingdom where red robe barry recognizes it. and wrt taakos character like. hes never Particularly trustful of lucretia like on a personal level but overall he trusts the bureau and lucretia until reunion tour. adding in a scene like that at that point in the story makes no sense like u cannot convince me taako would not start questioning what the directors really up to and why she had such a personal reaction.
#taz balance#main tags for this 1 coz im curious if anyone else has similar thoughts. any of the other girls really freaking autistic abt this show lol#and again i get tht its partially the medium just. i dunnooooo like#the foreshadowing in balance already feels good feels organic. and i get they gotta allude to the bigger behind the scenes plot for new#readers but they do that already with the scenes w the red robeeeee likecjdknf#does this make any sense. do i sound nutz#ugh god girls once we get the animated series (đ) i am going to. explode i hope they make some different decisions kfjfjdnf#creatively speaking#i rlly do think the medium has a lot to deal with it tho like i just dont think balance works in a graphic novel#like the plot is overall tje same but it doesnt have the same story feel. does that make sense#UGH AND ANOTHER THING. i get tht by showing her reaction adds to the freaking angst or whatever but part of why her character is so tragic#is that we dont see that! she keeps her emotions in check the girl does not let ppl in bcoz she feels she cant! and like#when we as like the readers the audience or whatever see her react like that so strongly and so angrily its like. shes no longer mysterious#and finding out who lucretia really is by the end of stolen century doesnt have the same impact. bcoz we already Know shes hiding something#its not just hinted at#ugh WHATEVER im normal about this show im so normal

i keep wanting to continue watching edgerunners whenever people hype it up again, but i absolutely hate lucy and i think i only got to like episode 3.
#shes just so annoying to me tbh#also the fact shes a grown adult that had sex with a minor is offputting#'its night city!!!111' isnt an excuse to me#even aside from that i just find her incredibly annoying and really unlikeable without even finishing the show#i wish she wasnt a main character bc i rlly dont like her LMFAO#and the fact shes a complete bitch to david but they have a romance is just#whyyyyyy#what if i dont fucking care about their relationship#ive already been spoiled on it so at least if i finally suffer through it i can keep reminding myself that she ends up on the moon alone#tbh i dont really care for david or rebecca eitheir#i like them both better than lucy but theyre still abit annoying#im just going based on clips ive seen later in the anime for the two of them#maybe they get better but idk if ill ever finish it#everybody in the show feels less well written and more stereoptical character tropes than the game imo#somebody made the perfect point abt david and lucys relationship#why do they expect us to care about their shitty ass relationship when they only spent like 3 episodes together?#i feel like they should not have gone for the romance angle whatsoever tbh#i like how the game has very optional romances (the main story sex scenes dont count as romance)#but youre forced to endure a shitty romance in the show

lemme tell you im starting to get a little sick of when im complaining about when a show or movie is writing a major female character with not as much depth as her male cohorts or she's written oddly plot device-like for a main character and people always tell me "oh but it's intentional, we're seeing her through the eyes of the male main character and he has a crush on her so he doesnt see her flaws" because like
FIRST of all yeah i get it but its hard to write that trope interestingly to me at this point without a lot of work put into subversion so intentionality doesnt make it any less boring
SECONDLY half the time people say this about ensemble cast stuff and like why is the random dude suddenly designated as the most perspective of all perspective characters when it comes to this specific woman. why dont we get to see the other characters perspectives on her too?
AND THIRDLY do people view women they have crushes on as bland plot devices without lives of their own enough irl that this is so universal in writing? isnt the point of having a crush wanting to hang out and know more about your crush, know about their likes and dislikes and all that. am i missing something here
#im gonna sound insane for what im about to say. but i grew up watching way to much harem anime for a 10 year old#and im gonna be honest. maybe that spoiled me? those things were not without their flaws but at least the 5 different magical giant#goddess demon vampire women with multicoloured hair inexplicably in love with random normal guy at least had like. inner lives#like thats why the guy is so normal and bland. because the focus is on the magical women and their pink hair and their complicated#backstories and familial lives and whatever outside of the main character#like theyre still big boobied colourful haired fantasies but at least they showed me something about em#when it comes to these other stories where a woman is treated like a plot device love interest and written like a dead wife in an#action movie but like. alive. i cant help but feel like. are you holding out on me? i want to know her. show me her LIFE i want to SEE IT#grabs writers by the collar ARE YOU HOLDING OUT ON ME???#its nuts because sometimes you see the bones of a really cool character but the writers are more interested in what she can do for the main#male character and how he sees her than whats going on in her head. i dunno im just getting annoyed. i think u can do this trope well#like how i think you can write basically any trope well. but i see intentionality used an excuse so often so i wanna see you do#SOMETHING interesting with this trope if ur gonna do it at least. subvert it in cool ways i dunno just do ANYTHING hfjdkjfkd

This has been on my draft since September, wayback when I did not know how Oshi no Ko's story will progress. So the setting of this story is after chapter 159.
While other OnK readers absolutely believe that Aqua likes Kana or that them ending up together is endgame, I am one who won't believe anything unless the character says it himself or until the story is concluded. It's just that, I've seen this built-up chemistry for so many times, a short-haired-not-main-character girl falling for the main character, but never ending up together. I don't write stories, but if my favourite OnK character will end up in an "unrequited" love, here's my prompt. It's somehow inspired by them.
â â â â â â
Scenario: Ruby successfully had a solo tour concluded at Tokyo Dome. A congratulatory party is being held and former members of B-Komachi were invited, Kana included. Amidst the busy party, Kana finds herself at the balcony, Aqua approaches.
Kana: Isn't this familiar?
Aqua: What is?
Kana: When we were preparing for JIF, we were also at the balcony. Only difference is you're here as you are and not disguising as Pieyon.
Aqua: You're right.
Kana: I briefly remember you telling me all sort of things I haven't said to anyone about and that you were my fan. Were you, Aqua?
Aqua: I am still a fan.
Kana: That feels nice, finally hearing it without a mask.
Aqua: ...
*Kana drops her keys*
*Aqua kneels down and picks it up*
Kana: Haha! This also looks familiar! Remember how you knelt down at the playground and persuaded me to become an idol?
*Aqua stands up, keys still in his hand*
Aqua: That sure feels like ages ago.
Kana: My logic was telling me back then that "no" was the only possible answer to that offer but I saw potential on Ruby right there and then. Come to think of it, I even thought of her having similarities with Ai-san, even without knowing yet that she's your mother.
*Kana gazes at Ruby as she is being surrounded by influential people from the industry congratulating her on the success of her solo tour*
Kana: Ruby is really meant to be an idol.
Aqua: It was her dream, and Ai's dream for her.
Kana: What about your dream? How is medical school going?
Aqua: I'm now a resident in the nearby hospital.
Kana: Really?! Good for you, Aqua! Never once doubted you! I was sure you'll be able to fulfill your dream of being a doctor.
Aqua: ... By the way, I saw your latest movie.
Kana: You did? I was good right?
Aqua: You've always been good at acting.
*Kana laughs proudly*
Aqua: ... In the end, I was not able to watch your graduation concert last time. I'm sorry.
Kana: I noticed. But don't worry about it. There were so many things that happened that time. It can't be helped. I'm just glad we were able to conclude that tour without trouble.
Aqua: But if I did, I would have...
*Aqua gets cut by a guy who approached Kana*
Kana: Is it time already?
*the guy nods*
Kana: I'm sorry, Aqua. We have to go.
*Aqua lost in his own thoughts*
Kana: Hey, would you mind handing me my keys?
*Aqua forgot that he's still holding the keys. When he opened his hand, he noticed the keychains were a glove catching a ball, and the word "dream"*
And in a split second, everything flashed in his mind. That first catch ball with Kana. The second time where they talked about their future plans and dreams.
Kana: Aqua?
Aqua: I'm sorry. Here you go.
Kana: Thank you. It was nice catching up with you.
*Kana walks a way, her hand being held by the guy*
Memcho passed by as Kana was leaving. Kana said her goodbye as they had other commitment to attend to. Memcho approached Aqua at the balcony.
Memcho: Kana left already.
Aqua: "Ah-kun". It's funny. I never cared for it too much, but it's a bittersweet feeling to hear Arima call me as Aqua. Just Aqua.
Memcho remembered how happy Kana was when she started calling Aqua "Ah-kun". It was something that belonged to Kana and Aqua, and now it's gone.
Memcho places her arm in Aqua's shoulder, leaning her head towards Aqua and silently comforting him. Kana and Aqua are two dear friends she watched closely. Memcho knows that Kana likes Aqua from the time they went home after JIF. And she knows that Aqua cares a lot for Kana which is why he distanced himself from Kana in order to protect her. So many things could have been said but it's too late.
The party ended and they went home. Aqua headed to his room. He sat on his bed, sitting idly, staring at the corner of his room. He then noticed the luggage that he and Kana bought. He pulled out the luggage, opened it, and brought out what's inside, one by one.
The script to "I'll Go With Sweet Today" where in he got to act with Kana again. A stack of books with trivial contents, the same books Kana likes to read. The umbrella that Kana placed over him when he was drenched in the rain, after accidentally hurting Kana. The hat that Kana left on the street as she was running away from the reporter. Kana's white glowstick. He picks up the glowstick and thought of that concert that he missed. He would have waved this glowstick for Kana. Her dream was for him to look at her not knowing that her dream already came true. But it's too late now. That time is gone and he already lost the opportunity to say anything. He returns everything inside the luggage, slowly closing it down and kept it again in the corner of his room, just as how he kept his feelings in the corner of his heart.
***
Kana: That was nostalgic.
The guy: Are you still...towards Aqua...
Kana: Oh no, not anymore! Though I won't deny the fact that a huge part of my youth was seriously in love with him.
Kana picks up her keys from her purse, and caught a glimpse of her keychains- a glove catching a ball, and the word "dream".
Kana: Ah-kun was my dream. But some dreams were just not meant to be realized.
â â â end â â â
#I will not be tagging the title of the show but the characters I will#kana arima#arima kana#aqua hoshino#hoshino aqua#just go to hell you idiot aqua#did I just make a fanfic an au or whatever this is hahahahaha#I am so sold that Kana and Aqua are not going to end up together#that all those Aqua and Kana anime original scenes is to make me feel better because anime production already know the ending of the manga#also this story is not new but it's sad and bittersweet and throws in the what ifs and what could have beens#because well Kana really was hopelessly in love with Aqua from that Sweet Today adaptation until the chapter 150#and Aqua is an idiot to think that no one will like Kana and steal her from him because he never said anything to Kana#and I don't think at the rate where the manga is going right now I don't think there's an appropriate timing to lead back to them#I don't want everyone to think that when a chapter about Kana releases regarding this matter that Kana is ruining the momentum of the#revenge side of the story I am so tired of reading hate about Kana I just want this girl to be happy#even if that happiness is found outside the main characters of onk
