They have since left four premature babies to decompose on their beds. They have since kidnapped, stripped, tortured civilians and tried to frame them as Hamas fighters for their propaganda. They have since shot people at refugee camps execution style. They have since targeted academics and poets and directors. They have since killed 86 journalists. Still no ceasefire.
psa: i know that many of us did NOT doubt this for a second, neither did i. this is targeted at the people who educated themselves for the first time about this genocide and discovered the absolute horrific things that Israel is capable of doing to Palestinians, with the unwavering support of its allies.

It's been incredibly difficult to hear from Palestinians in Gaza, not to mention center their experiences and platform their voices. Because ever since Hamas violently kicked the Palestinian government out of Gaza in 2007, it's denied Palestinians the right to free speech.
(Here's Palestinian human rights activist Hamza Howidy sarcastically wondering why Hamas isn't stopping the theft of humanitarian aid when it had the power to arrest him for a social media post within 4 hours.)

I'm working on a series of posts of Palestinians to platform. I came across this thread from someone who used Snapchat to talk to people in Gaza, so I thought I'd post it here in the meantime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've seen videos of Palestinians talking about not being able to evacuate because "Hamas has closed all the roads," a video of a Palestinian telling the IDF that Hamas has a car blocking the Salah-al-Din road (the evacuation route) and is pointing guns at people and telling them to turn around. But even as someone searching for Palestinian voices and looking for information about this, I hadn't heard that Hamas had been killing civilians trying to evacuate. (And probably reporting their deaths as part of the daily total.)

I mean, just the fact that the Gaza Strip is run as a separate country from the rest of Palestine is a huge barrier for Palestinians. It's hard to be accepted as a full member of the UN when your country functionally has two or three different governments.
(Confusingly, the PLO is considered the government of Palestine internationally. Abbas is the president of both PLO and the Palestinian Authority, so it sort of works as long as nobody has an election. But the fact that Palestinians have been denied an election for 18+ years, because Abbas keeps cancelling elections and Hamas is Hamas, is also a pretty big fucking problem.)
But it's also true that a huge number of the people in the Gaza Strip, while obviously having a big problem with the Israeli government, have at least as big of a problem with Hamas.
And for all of our decades of talk about Free Palestine, in the progressive movement, we pay shockingly little attention to that.

Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, said today that they “will not accept anything less than a complete cessation of the aggression, withdrawal of the occupation army from Gaza and lifting of the unjust siege" in exchange for a return of the hostages.
These are the exact conditions that existed on October 6th.
Now, with thousands of Israeli civilians murdered and raped and dismembered by Hamas, Israel cannot return to the status quo, let alone possibly agree to Hamas's conditions for releasing convicted terrorists.
That's it.

At this very moment in a hospital in Israel, in a specialized neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), an intensive care unit for babies, receiving life-saving treatment, is no other than Ismael Haniya’s sister’s grandson. Ismael Haniyah is the Hamas leader, responsible for still holding 136 hostages, who publicly celebrated the massacre on October 7.
More than anything, this shows the difference between us, those who sanctify life, and our enemy, those who seek to destroy it.
I’m proud to be part of the Jewish people.

Eight Palestinians killed in Israeli army strikes on homes in the al-Zawaida and Dier el-Balah refugee camps, with dozens more wounded.
Hamas political chief says the “resistance will not agree to anything less” than a lasting ceasefire, troop withdrawal, and end to the “total siege” of Gaza.
Gaza’s largest functioning hospital in Khan Younis remains under siege by Israeli troops with reports of medical staff being beaten and aid being blocked.
US President Biden says he hopes Israel “will not make any massive land invasion” of Rafah, and “my expectation [is] that’s not gonna happen”. (?????? This man is DELUSIONAL)
Israel’s attacks on Gaza have killed at least 28,858 Palestinians and wounded 68,667 since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the October 7 Hamas-led attacks stands at 1,139.

Explain the logic.
For context, this user is an Anti-Zionist and we have a history for the past few months since October. He has resorted to calling me a "demon" multiple times just for poking holes in his narratives this is one of them. I have lovingly given him the nickname "Messiah" because he firmly believes he is never wrong yet nails himself in the foot.
He likes to demonise Israel while also claiming to be friends with Jews (I highly doubt that). This time around he is asking where all the money towards Gaza went. I responded by showing the net worth of Hamas leaders shown below:
Tumblr media
It shouldn't take a genius to figure it out where that cash went.
I then asked, "If these men truely cared, why haven't they come to Gaza." I mean, they had nine months going on ten to figure out a game plan no?
His response: Blaming Netanyahu and pointing at a destroyed airport. Alright, but that doesn't answer the question does it? He's just playing the blame game at this point. So I asked again,
"Where are they? If they cared for the cause, where are they?"
His response:
Tumblr media
Mine, and hopefully the final:
Tumblr media
(pardon any misspellings on both our parts, but you get the point.)
It's true, the Escobar empire back in the 80s started off on a few thousand and grew to millions by smuggling drugs and people over MULTIPLE borders - it was a global network that started off in Colombia.
Yet, BILLIONAIRES for Gaza's cause cannot figure out how to come over ONE BORDER and meet with the people or let alone send food and water.
The point I am making is I know a cowardly leader when I see one, and Gaza unfortunately is subject to said cowards. They are only in it for the money and looking righteous, but never truly giving their cut of the shares to the people.
Explain this logic here? Who's really the "demon"?

The Israeli army orders all Palestinian civilians to leave Gaza City as it strikes UNRWA’s headquarters there, a day after at least 27 people were killed and 53 injured in an Israeli attack on a school housing displaced civilians in Khan Younis. Israel warns civilians to leave an area many days in advance. Hamas threatens civilians and their families with harm or death if they leave.
Four schools have been hit in as many days as Israel has forced thousands of Palestinians to flee Khan Younis and Gaza City. At least three key hospitals have been forced to shutdown in northern Gaza.
Hamas uses school, hospitals and other public buildings to store weapons and personnel. Israel knows this and gives civilians a chance to leave prior to military activity.
The attacks have been carried out as another round of talks to try to end the war in Gaza are to begin in Qatar on Wednesday after discussions in Egypt.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant says that 60 percent of Hamas fighters have been killed or wounded since October 7.

Being on Tumblr is super depressive these days.
My favourite character got twisted and destroyed by new canon, and many of my fandom mutuals celebrated it. It just feels weird, because I'm in mourning (even though I do reject that canon and am trying to keep him alive in my world), but they're not. I don't know how to interact with them anymore. So I've stopped.
Meanwhile mutuals who agreed with me on many things are suddenly spewing antisemitic rhetoric or reblogging posts praising terrorists like Hamas and bin Laden. It's giving me such a whiplash that I'm unable to process it still.
I want to close my eyes and ignore all of this, but I can't. I unfollow and block, but the sense of shock and betrayal remains...

This kind of approach– speak silently and carry a wicked stick–spooks the top leaders. Instead of fighting them, you terrorize them. Unlike with regular wars, they never see you coming, and they can’t attack you for killing thousands of their people. And the blows can be lethal.
As military analyst Seth Frantzman writes in JPost, “[Haniyeh’s] loss is a major blow because Hamas will have a hard time finding a well-known, popular leader who also has experience in the region and can be the one to craft Hamas’s return to power.”
The point is, if your goal is to deter your enemy, taking down the top players can be highly effective. A leader who’s terrified is less likely to start wars, which means thousands of lives can be saved on both sides. That’s the kind of enemy you want– one who is afraid of making the wrong move.
Yes, it’s important to combat terror groups the traditional way and downgrade their capabilities. But it’s even more important to terrorize the leaders who give the orders so they’ll be a lot more hesitant to use those weapons.
It’s clear that Iran and its Hamas and Hezbollah proxies are now obligated to respond, if only to salvage their honor. As this happens, let’s hope things don’t unravel into an all-out war. Let’s also hope that this show of Israeli strength will  provide more incentive for Hamas to free the hostages.
For now, Israel’s foes have seen up close that Israel is no paper tiger. In the long run, this targeted killing approach may indeed help prevent wars and save thousands of lives. It’s not pretty but it seems to get the right people’s attention: terrorize the terrorists.

why do ppl keep assuming us politicans have so much power in israel exactly. at the end of the day they dont exactly get a say in whats to happen if israel or hamas doesnt want to comply.
#'ceasefire now' except hamas keeps declining a ceasefire bc god forbid they dont have more of their favorite terrorists#bc its not about getting home palestinian civilians its about getting home more ppl who want to make more israelis lives miserable#since a big thing for hamas is specifically hating jewish ppl and wanting to kill them all. which IS clear as day genocidal intent.#also its antithetical to their goals- they dont give af if palestinians die. they encourage it. it makes them look more sympathetic#literally how many times do we gotta point at the video of the leader saying its a good thing like#HOW CAN YOU DENY THIS#with all this in mind- what in the actual fuck are you expecting us politicians to do? what kind of power do you think they have here?#this is a conflict between two countries miles across the sea. its not a conflict between the US and some other country its two other#countries we dont have control over. if hamas wants more palestinians to die so they can get their Very Important Terrorist Friends Back#then what is to be done? if israel cant bring itself to compromise on this because of the very valid fucking fear of releasing *more*#terrorists who want to kill them all- what is to be done? what do you honest to god think kamala or joe can fuckin do?#its like two adults bullying eachother and you're an onlooker- you can try all you want to resolve the conflict but if they cant do it at#all between eachother for valid or not reasons then wtf are you expected to do?#and then all the people around you who've decided you have the power somehow to fix this are yelling at you for not fixing it#when you never had the power over this situation to fuckin begin with!

Israel recently assassinated two Hamas politburo leaders and three military commanders in a tunnel under Gaza City, according to sources from the terror group quoted by the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.
According to the report, the IDF strike killed Hamas political leaders Rawhi Mushtaha and Sameh al-Siraj along with three commanders from the group’s military wing, the Izz a-Din al-Qassam Brigades; Abdul Hadi Siam, Sami Odeh and Muhammad Hadid.
Mushtaha has served as de facto prime minister of the Gaza Strip and is in charge of financial affairs within the Hamas politburo. He reportedly helped establish the Hamas military wing and was arrested by Israel in 1988 before being released in 2011 as part of the Shalit prisoner swap.
He is said to be a close confidant of Hamas Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar and is seen as one of the terror group’s most hawkish members.
Siraj has served in the Hamas politburo since 2021 and is also in charge of internal security within the Strip. He reportedly headed a secret intelligence unit operating out of Turkey.
The IDF in November said it had targeted Mushtaha and Siraj in a tunnel, but was unable to confirm their deaths.
However, the sources quoted by Asharq Al-Awsat say the strike on the tunnel that killed the Hamas members took place around a week and a half ago, noting that the underground hideout has been partially damaged in an airstrike at the beginning of the ongoing war in Gaza, sparked by the terror group’s October 7 massacre.
The report says that the tunnel was used by the terror group as a command and control center and that it has rooms for sleeping, where operatives can hide out for extended periods.
The Hamas sources say the bodies of the assassinated leaders were pulled from the rubble after the most recent bombing in a complicated extraction effort that took several days. They were reportedly buried last night.
Emanuel Fabian contributed to this report.
