So I missed this because my shift started an hour after this went down but my co-worker filled me in. It's been six long years since and I still lose it over The Dreamies Fiasco. So it was a little corner shop, sold all sorts of essentials y'know, and we often got some weird customers because of the area it was in (lot of freaks and weirdos around there, for example, I lived under 100m down the road).

But the wildest story was of a woman had been in earlier in the day and bought a packet of Dreamies, which are like these little biscuit-y cat treats. Cats go absolutely mental for them, and they were in little sachets on a hanging strip on the pet-food shelves. That in itself is of course not weird, it's a shop, people buy things. No, the weird bit was that she came back about half an hour later, furious and demanding a refund.

"What was the problem?" you ask? Well you see, she had thought they were human snacks, had bought them and proceeded to eat almost half the bag before noticing they were, in fact, cat treats. For the record, this is what a pack of Dreamies looks like:

And so my co-worker had to carefully explain to this woman that we cannot refund an opened, half eaten pack of cat treats just because she didn't read the package properly and felt silly about eating half a bag of cat treats. That no, this wasn't our fault, nor some sort of false advertising, yes we sell bags of sweeties on similar hanging strips but not on the pet-food shelves. That is not false advertising.

So apparently, you can get a refund on app subscriptions on iOS?

It’s unintuitive, but the way you do it is to go to your purchase history, choose the app you accidentally subscribed to, and click “report a problem”. And that’s the tricky part, because if I hadn’t been so upset about a $43 charge on an app I haven’t opened since install, I wouldn’t have tried “report a problem” because it’s not an error? At least not a computer error.

That button then takes you to apple’s website where you can choose an “allowed” reason for wanting your refund, and then it takes 24-48 hours to process.

The most unexpected part of being an adult is definitely just getting random checks in the mail for weird things. Like bills I expected, but the regularity in which I seem to get checks is super weird. I mean it’s not often but still.

Anyway me and my 66 dollar check from my mortgage settlement (for when they accidentally took everyone’s payments twice) will be getting something fun
