eddie in the hostage episode is soooo. it's all fun and games to joke about how unbothered he was by a guy pointing a gun at him, but he genuinely did not care about what happened to him in the moment. he was borderline suicidal and arguably the most reckless he'd ever been—and he only allowed that part of him to come out the moment buck was out of the ambulance and safe. yeah, he didn't care that there was a madman waving a gun in his face and made the choice to actively taunt and goad him...because the minute he felt that buck (and chris, by extension) were safe, he gave up on himself.
