honestly still in awe over the fact that we finally got something??? like. 3 came out in america in 2018. and 4 came out in japan. this is the first piece of new yo-kai content (excluding puni puni and the anime. and 1 for smartphone. and china getting 4) in almost five years. and of course it had to be while i'm sick and don't have the mental capacity to articulate my emotions-
#puppy rambles#yo-kai watch#i hope we get 4 in america at somepoint too. i'm happy with any yo-kai watch content but this seems to be another reboot#and i'd prefer something closer to standard#why am i talking so formally. sorry i have autism and a way too verbose vocabulary-#did y-school heroes come out after 4. sorry i don't know basically anything about any of the games after 3-#it's still yo-kai watch content so obviously if it releases in america i'll get anything but i don't have any real interest in.#kind of edgy reboot and a canonical high school au#and also blasters 2. which is super glitchy i guess but also i love blasters. i just need to mod my 3ds so i can get the fan translation-

Good Games I played in 2017
I didn’t get to play a whole lot of video games last year. And I probably already managed to forget some, because they were too brief. I don’t know if I can cosider these games good, if they weren’t good enough to stiay in my head.
Anyway, I enjoyed all games I’m listing here. And probably one or two other games.
1. Little Party
Turnfollow is a team to follow. Their games are great. Little Party is one of my absolute favourites. It’s a game in which you play as a mom. It gives you feeling being out of place, while trying to be cool. Everything about it is great. And I like it even more because it’s a game anyone could do. It’s about everyone who likes nature and art too and one of very few games, which are not nerdy.
You can download this gem for free! Check out their other games too. Packing Up The Rest of Your Stuff on the Last Day at Your Old Apartment is about packing your stuff. It’s great and it will make you think about stuff. Big Party is a cute little comic about Little Party. Everything they made is worth checking.
2. Secret Habitat
Secret Habitat is about procedurally generated art, which is exhibited in a strange swampy world. More than a walking sim, the game is a piece of art, which includes an infinite amount of art. Mona Lisa could be hidden somewhere in there.
The place itself looks very psychedelic and it’s strangely calming to walk around from one building to another and listen to random sounds, which are stored on tapes, while watching weird glitchy art, which is different every time you load the game.
Secret Habitat isn’t currently available for download.
3. Amort
The simple game is a collab of four young and talented devs. It’s not far from truth to tell that they’re my favourite developers in RPG Maker community.
In Amort they joined forces and made a small game very good, very fast. The game has a strong look, using only black and white. Its mechanics go well with the story and the story is great. I even liked the narrator and I usually dislike it in serious games. Words are strong with this one. Download it here.
4. Stephen’s Sausage Roll
Occassionally, I enjoy a good puzzle. I always enjoy a ridiculous idea. Stephen’s Sausage Roll is about making perfect sausages. But they’re huge and on very small islands. Also, you need to avoid burning them.
Frankly, the game’s damn clever and frustrating and original. It’s a solid game. But that isn’t its selling point. The selling point is every time you’re trying to tell someone about it.
There’s a tumblr dedicated to its fanart.
5. 1998
The second small game made in RPG Maker on my list. I really liked visuals in this one and it’s noteworthy that the dev made both graphics and music. Music is alternative and I’m sure that she would be successful with it on a local scene.
The theme of this game’s also right up my alley. It’s about teenagers and their small world, which is very New Jersey. I wrote a review, so you can read it or download 1998 here.
6. Anodyne
Anodyne managed to be there earlier than most indies and it was quite successful for that reason. It’s a very solid game too. Colours are really nice and pixel art is better than in many more produced titles.
The game’s clever and fun and it likes to break the fourth wall. In terms of game design Anodyne is very tight. It plays better than original Zelda and puzzles are often just slightly challenging. Their def better than in Zelda. And the game has a bike in it, which trully is a saviour.
7. Rain World
I’ve barely scratched the surface in Rain World. The game’s demanding and I enjoy it the best in small doses. It’s all about going out trying to find some food and eventually a new hideout. It’s super basic in this. But the execution is exceptional. The game’s purty, every second of it. And you play as slugcat, which completely changes the way you move.
It’s different than majority of platformers. My goal isn’t to win, it’s to survive. I would say that it’s little underrated.
8. Betrayer
I think I played this game more in 2016, yet I have an urge to mention it. This game offers a load of good times for a fiver. It’s a great place to discover an unknown place and its towns, which are cozy little places. And it’s so easy to just walk around and take pictures. There are some annoyances like these mean ghosts, but I guess that some people like that part too.
Totally underrated. I’ll post some screenshots later to make my point. This one’s from the first minute of the game.
9. The Beginner’s Guide
It’s better than Stanley’s parable and it provides a great commentary to the current state of gaming. If you want a game, which is more about thinking and reflecting yourself, play this.

10. A Normal Lost Phone
This is an important game for two reasons. It’s story can help some young people being who they want to be. And it’s packages everything very elegantly. That’s probably more important for me and my love for small things.
Basically, the only thing you do is that you explore what’s inside a lost phone. And you need every single app to complete the game. It’s very compact and it looks nice. The music’s good too.

11. Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight
The game I enjoyed playing the most in 2017 is Momodora. It’s a very solid metroidvania with beautiful pixels and fetish for cats. It’s often frustrating as a metroidvania is supposed to be, but it’s not unfair.
12. Kero Blaster
The last game on this list was also published by playism. I didn’t enjoy Kero Blaster. It’s very frustrating, but it’s also very addictive. The visual style isn’t exactly pretty, but it has it’s charm and the game’s witty.
Probably play this one, if you’re a masochist. Or better at playing games than I.
