Chapter 8: Static Cling (Kapheria)
Kapheria couldn’t contain herself when she saw the delectable sandwich before her. As she began to devour, she noted how the sandwich had a different flavor to it than the first one she had. This one was bitter with plants and savory with meat. Although she didn’t starve she now had an insatiable craving for sandwiches.
As she licked her metal jaws, she observed the smaller Pokemon around her. Kapheria understood that the Pokemon of the Greenworld relied on food more than she did. Turo says I’m a Pokemon too, I wonder why he never fed me.
“Maah, Maa!” The Flumpfy Pokemon blatted, “Ma-reeee!”
The iron serpent looked around confused. “Are you referring to me?” she asked.
Instead of answering the wooly Pokemon trotted toward her. “Ma-reeee,” he chimed. Flumpfy raised his tail, and the amber orb on the end began to flicker.
“Oh yes…” Kapheria tried to play along, “That’s very… remarkable of you.”
Flumpfy seemed to have a shock absorbency to him and was very allured by Kapheria’s dazzling energy. While it was nice to find a kindred spark, the serpent had other things to worry about.
The tingling static from her head had eased since her crash on the beach. I should be able to shift into my true form again, she reminded herself, I was able to shift into drive mode earlier. Kapheria crouched down to prepare herself, closing her eyes to better concentrate. She allowed the bolts of static to flow and charge between her antenna, it grew louder and louder. Perfect, she thought. As she began to unfold her throat, the static suddenly burst in a startling snap!
“GAH!” Kapheria flinched her eyes open, I didn’t mean to do that!
“Maaa!” Flumpfy scampered away from the Iron Serpent.
Before she could say anything else, she felt the pain coming back to her. A violent discharge of electricity surged from her left antenna. Sparks of gold and violet flung off of her head and she began to feel herself overheat. Kapheria couldn’t hold the spark’s back as much as she tried. No no, it's happening again!
The electricity seemed closer to her than usual, she could now touch it in a way that tased her metal skin. She flailed her head around to shake off the short-circuiting as it popped and crackled against the left side of her casque. She could barely hear anything at that moment, not even her thoughts could reach her.
“MAKE IT STOP!” she cried.
The Pokemon began squalling at her odd behavior.
“CO-CO-CO!”
“WEE WEE WOINK!”
“SHREE SHREE!”
“Kapheria, KAPHERIA!” Patch hurried to the Iron Serpent, “WHAT’S GOING ON?! ARE YOU OKAY!?” She could see the human trying to reach their hand out.
“STOP!” She roared in agony, “DON’T TOUCH ME!” Horrified that the human would get entangled in static, Kapheria curled her tail around her as a shield. “Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me… please…”
Patch stood there, petrified by the iron beast’s agonizing display. They were breathing heavily, their purple eyes drawn back. Their hand trembled in place. They acted similar to how they overwhelmed back at the fire cave; frozen in fear. Kapheria was immediately remorseful, she almost believed the human did touch her.
The red Pokemon waddled over to their human, “Fue-co! Co-co-co!”, he wrapped his arms around Patch’s leg. “Fuey…”
Patch didn’t respond, but their tears spoke for themself.
“I’m… sorry…” Kapheria repented.
…
The sky turned a deep indigo, a trait of the night. Particles of light twinkled, accompanied by a giant, silver rock called a moon. It was a state of time that lasted for the remainder of the day. When everything went dark, humans and Pokemon slumbered to recharge their energy. Except for Kapheria, who was always charged.
The grass dipped and swayed with the nightly breeze. The chirping of wild Pokemon serenaded the land, but Kapheria felt she didn’t deserve such a sweet song.
Patch was nestled under a blanket next to their Pokemon by their side. Although they were sound asleep, Kapheria couldn’t help but feel that Patch could be having nightmares about her. As much as the iron serpent wanted to comfort the human from their fears, she knew that her responsibilities were elsewhere.
Goodbye, Human Patch. She quietly coiled her throat and tail into wheels without any static reaction.
Why is it that I can enter my driving mode and not my ultimate mode, she asked herself. She turned away from the human, drove off into the horizon, and dared not to look back. It’s just as well, Turo wouldn’t want me to harm a human. If I’m going to gain any trust I must keep a safe distance… though it will be harder. For now, I must find the source.
The iron serpent rode farther out passing by a series of small trees. She gently maneuvered herself past them to not knock them over. When she knew she was far away enough, Kapheria folded her wheels back and untucked her legs. The ground had a slight dampness to it when she planted her claws down. There wasn’t any other Pokemon to be seen nor chirping to be heard.
“Okay…” she said to herself, “I hope this works.”
Once again Kapheria let her static flow but paid close attention to how it sounded. It began with steady bolts pulsing and vibrating between her antennae. I can do this. She allowed the energy to become stronger and tense. It buzzed and this would be the point where she would unfurl her throat but she let her static linger. As soon as she heard a familiar sputter she opened her eyes and shook off the frantic sparks before it could burn her.
“No!” she wailed hearing sparks die out, What’s wrong with me? I am a Pokemon of lighting! Why does it hurt to shift all of a sudden?
Kapheria padded around the trees, keeping her tail from swaying against the trunks. She could see new green leaves coming in from the branches. She felt guilty as found some scattered on the ground, she knew that more would fall because of her. If Kapheria couldn’t shift there would be no leaves, trees, or plants. It was now all the more inevitable.
The Iron Serpent came to a small reservoir underneath a weeping tree. Plentiful water was another luxury of the Greenworld, Kapheria was told that there was so much that most of it that it made up an ocean. Within the glassy pool two smaller Pokemon were swimming beneath the surface. She reached out her claw to scoop one of the Pokemon up for air, you could only be in water for so long. As soon as dipped her claw tip into the water, she felt another shock.
“Ouch,” she yowled shaking her claw dry.
The two Pokemon darted away upon the sudden flash. Kapheria didn’t understand it, why was her body acting against her? Then as the pool’s wavering ripple began to clear, she saw her reflection for the first time since leaving the lab. The pale light of the moon revealed a fracturing crack on her casque and the rim had a piece already missing
“No!” Kapheria wailed in disbelief, the sharp split on her head startling her. This can’t be! It hurt when I crashed, but I didn’t think it would be this bad! No wonder why I can’t shift.
A memory began to shed light, YOU BROKE HER?! The blond-haired human’s voice invaded her mind, Kapheria belongs to my father; she can’t be broken. “Broken” suddenly began to hold weight over her cracked head. Kapheria didn’t think much of the blond-haired human who called himself Arven. She knew of a smaller human of the same name, but somehow Arven's disapproval made the crack seem bigger.
It began to dawn on Kapheria, If I can’t shift into my Ultimate mode… does that mean I lost everything else? She couldn’t tell what was right anymore. Could she glide? Could she climb? Nonetheless, the iron serpent was reluctant to exacerbate her crack with excitement.
She looked out to the patterns of stars, they were almost identical to falling grains of sand. If I can’t shift what will become of this world?
“Mah MAHHH!” a familiar voice yowled out.
Flickers of golden light peered from the grassy plains, similar to thundershocks. Kapheria could see a bush moving through the veld.
“Flumpfy?” Kapheria asked the rustling bush.
“Mah-reeee!” the bush answered back, bounding toward her.
Although Flumpy’s fleece blended in the darkness his spontaneous electricity made him more visible.
“Mah, mah!” The wooly Pokemon gestured his tail toward Patch’s campsite.
But the Iron Serpent stood her ground, “No, Flumpfy… I’m not going back,” she huffed, “You saw what I did today… I frightened your human.” They are better off without me.
Instead of leaving her behind, the little Pokemon wrapped his striped tail around Kapheria’s leg and tugged it.
“I told you, I’m not going,” she shook him off her, “Just leave without me!”
Still, Flumpfy remained by the violet dragon’s side, unaware of her requests. He latched on to her like metal caught in a magnetic pull.
“Please! Go back and enjoy your time with your trainer while you still have them!” Kapheria sank her claws into the moist dirt, “Because of me there won’t be any humans or Pokemon! Nature will wilt away! I’ve doomed you all to die!”
The iron serpent couldn’t shed any tears, but her sadness was so great it was as if she could feel droplets sliding off her face. Maybe it’s good he can’t understand me… I’d only make things worse.
Flumpfy did not respond, instead of speaking he lit an amber orb on his tail which made a luminescent flash. He just stood there flickering away.
Such a stubborn thing, she smiled. Kapheria shook her head, releasing a static current that carried down her neck to the end of her silver tail. She raised her tail, mimicking the mannerisms of the little Pokemon. Flumpfy’s eyes beamed, focusing all his attention on the spark that almost signaled him.
He then flashed his tail once and waited for the Iron Serpent to do the same.
She released her static once again as a way of greeting.
In return, Flumpfy flashed again intently.
“You… understood that?” Kapheria purred fascinated.
Curious she kept pulsating electric waves of light down her tail to ask “Can you understand me?”
However Flumpfy twinkled the same light pattern back to her, “Can you understand me?”
“Yes,” she signaled a spark.
He glimmered back, “Yes.”
“Can you leave me alone?” Kapheria flashed.
But he only copied her, “Can you leave me alone?”
Perhaps not, Kapheria rolled her eyes, “It was worth a shot,” she sighed, “I should get you back to Human Patch.”
Kapheria went back to the campsite at a steady pace and Flumpfy followed behind. Leaves off the trees began to flutter down elegantly. The sweet scent of flowers coming into bloom filled the air accompanied by the harmonious chirping of the nocturnal Pokemon. The iron serpent felt guilty for such beauty, it was unlike anything she had seen before meeting her trainer.
Her earliest memories were the fuzziest, but she knew what her homeworld felt like; grainy, coarse with endless irritation. There was no sun or moon, only dusty clouds. She could only recall ever being on her own during that time, she was the only one. Without the control of her lighting, the clouds would roll in and she would be alone all over again. But this time she would know why.
Finally after the long stroll the two returned to the group. Patch was still in their sleeping bag, this time on their side to ignore the restless snoring of Tamarind. Arturo nestled the closest to their trainer, using the comfiness of their sleeping bag as a nest. Kombucha slept the farthest away in a damp puddle of mud.
“Mahhh,” Flumpfy brayed quietly.
“Alright your back with your trainer,” Kapheria bent her neck down, “Now I must be going!” Hopefully, I’ll find a way to shift back, somehow…
The wooly Pokemon patted the grass flat and settled down on top of it, “Reee!” he beckoned her to come over with large golden eyes.
It’s no use I suppose, he’ll only follow me again if I leave right now, Kapheria realized. Sparks twinkled from her head as she pondered, If he’s asleep then I can leave without a trace.
Kapheria curled up beside the little Pokemon, and she too flattened the grass with the weight of her metal body. Flumpfy cuddled beside her, he was the softest of the Greenworld Pokemon. His curly, black coat felt fluffy against her smooth iron shell.
The iron serpent looked toward the silver moon. It had curled into a crescent since she last saw it. Once there wasn’t a silver light to be seen, that is when it would die. Yet the sun was still whole, so until it shrank like the moon Kapheria would still have time. If I’m able to shift into my drive mode, it can only be a matter of waiting until my other powers come back. But how many moon shrinks would that take?
By then Flumpfy was sound asleep, leaning against her. If she got up, he’d only wake up. I wonder why Pokemon choose to sleep outside their Pokeball? After all, they provide a healthy stasis. Then when you come out you awake… but after being in a Pokeball I guess you can only stay awake for so long?
Guess I should see what all the fuss is about. Kapheria placed her head on the ground and shut her eyes. Why am I even trying? There’s no way I could sleep.
“Alright team time to pack it up!” the sound of Patch’s silvery voice declared.
When Kapheria opened her eyes, she found that the indigo sky turned orange and yellow. The sun returned from the western horizon, its light shone of Kapheria’s metallic skin. I only meant to close my eyes for a few minutes! Did I fall asleep?!
“Maahh!” Flumpfy yawned. The little Pokemon stood up to stretch, raising his flank upward before leaning his frontside upward.
What a waste of time, Kapheria thought squinting at the glaring sun, I better be off immediately! Without even shifting, the iron serpent bounded away before she could say her goodbyes. Must I repeat this? Leaving shouldn’t be this sad after knowing them for a few days!
“Hey Kapheria!” Patch called to her, “We’re not leaving yet! Give me a minute!”
“Human Patch,” Kapheria winced. Please I don’t want to see your face, it’ll make me feel awful!
She could hear heavy footsteps coming closer to her, “Are you alright?”
Does it look like I’m okay? Kapheria turned her head away before their eyes could meet. Stop bothering me!
“Kapheria…” Patch cooed, “Does your head hurt?”
She shook her head even if it was half of the truth.
“Oh…” Patch replied astounded by the Iron Serpent’s response, “Was it… something I did?”
She shook her head again.
“Was it because of what happened yesterday?” the human suggested.
Kapheria finally locked eyes with Patch, she couldn’t stand it any longer. “I’m sorry,” she apologized even though the human couldn’t hear her.
Their purple eyes seemed just as apologetic as hers, “Oh…” Patch murmured, “Well… I don’t know much about you to help with that… I’ve been trying to contact your trainer about what I should do… but I can’t get back to him.”
“Turo hasn’t been checking on me?!” Kapheria exclaimed, “That doesn’t sound like him at all!”
“Till then I can try my best to figure it out myself,” Patch smiled, “I know this must be a lot for you…”
Kapheria dipped her neck, You have no idea… The iron Pokemon felt stuck at a crossroads. She could accept the care of a human whom she would only stress. Or she could be on her own. Either way, she still had to carry out her mission.
“Mah!” Flumpfy frolicked over. He flickered his tail, “Hello!”
Patch and their Pokemon are so welcoming. It’s just like Turo said! I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have some company around… I could sure use some. Kapheria nodded.
“Okay!” Patch clapped, “Let’s be on our way to Cortondo!”
The human recalled all of their Pokemon and loaded up their backpack, “Do you think I could ride on your back again?” they asked, “We’d get to town faster that way!”
“If you're comfortable with it,” Kapheria roared back. Turo loves it when I give him rides. The Iron Serpent crouched down feeling the small weight of the human sitting on their back. As she untucked her wheels she rode of thinking to herself. No matter what I will protect Turo and Patch. I will get my powers back to stop the Sands of Time.

Sneak peak at a work I’m working on!
Note this is a part of the ninjago + divergent AU i am currently working on. It’s an au to that!
Also another fun fact, I have a lot of art for this au, so let me know if you want to see it!
Lloyd- the Pokémon au
Lloyd had been a child when he met Ethereal. He’d run away from home for the 5th time, and had ended up in the woods. He had a pokeball on him, since his mother Misako had wanted him to catch her something. He’d left to go and be with the pack of pokemon that lived in the Amber Forest. He’d gone out without the proper protection(even though she hadn’t even renewed the protection license on the ppe), and had ended up in the grips of a Driftblim. Lloyd wasn’t fighting, the ghost type sucking all of his energy. But before it had been able to take off with him, something came crashing into it, using astonish. Lloyd had been knocked down, and hit his head on a rock. But the Driftblim had run away, and when he sat in the grass, the phantump came running up to him. she had nuzzled him, and he’d laughed cause it’d tickled. Afterwards, she’d play with him the same way his fathers trevenant- Treevor, had played with him. He’d have to leave, but everytime he came back, she was always there; protecting him from nasty and mean pokemon(not that there were any), and playing together.
It was a few days from the choosing ceremony that she’d finally wanted to be his partner pokemon. He’d come into the thicket crying, as he did a lot, and the pokemon had crowded him. He’d had an empty pokeball in his pocket, a cheap protection that not many people had used in the modern day. If a person was cornered by a pokemon, they could throw a ball and make an escape. Lloyd hadn’t had to use it yet, but it was something that he kept on him that made him feel better. That day, after they’d both been lying in the grass after she’d tickled him to death, as they stargazed in the violet glazed sky, she nuzzled at his hands, and as he sat up to hold her more firmly, she’d hit the pokeball. He’d frozen, forgotten that it’d been keyed to open and catch as soon it touched a pokemon, and had shuffled away as he saw the ball lock. Lloyd couldn’t help but tear up. He’d probably lost his best friend. He rushed back toward the ball and opened it. Ethereal had floated up to him and nuzzled him. He giggled, and lightly smiled. Lloyd was relieved. That was when he realized that the pokeball was in a spot that she shouldn’t have been able to reach.
When he looked at Ethereal, his friend didn’t look scared. The phantump instead looked happy and unaffected. It was then he realized that she wanted to be his partner. Lloyd didn’t force her into this, instead she’d chosen to enter the ball. Lloyd had named her Ethereal because of the stars that night. They looked ethereal.
Years later, Lloyd had gone through the wringer. He’d lost most of his friends, had his boss stalking him, and had to move IN with him. The only constants in his life were Tadpole, Therum, and Ethereal. That was it. As he packed his few belongings, he released Ethereal out of her ball to keep him company. He packed and chatted to her to try to get his mind off of the ordeal he’d have to endure.

My Review of Komi-san Can’t Communicate
Coming into the fall 2021 season there was only one thing I was sure of and that was I had to watch Komi-san no matter what. This was at #1 priority. And then we learn Netflix got it! Ugh, that’s a bit of a headache. Netflix has that habit of clumping everything together and giving the public what they want six months after the fact. But things were a little different this time and it’s giving me hope. As of recent, Netflix has gotten its act together (in some cases) to give some anime a weekly viewing. It was just a little annoying that it was three weeks late putting out Komi-san. Better this than what Netflix has done with Pokemon.
Day one at Itan Private High School! Hitohito Tadano is as generic as generic can get. Don’t worry, he’s not the main focus.
The main focus is on Shouko Komi. Everyone in class seems to have fallen for Komi despite her never uttering a single word to anyone. So, imagine everyone’s disgust when they see someone as bland as Tadano sitting next to Komi in class. It didn’t go well.
After being conked on the head, Tadano wakes up at his desk and hears Komi make a meow sound. Tadano caught on then and there that it was hard for Komi to communicate with people. Tadano and Komi decide to communicate through the chalkboard in the empty classroom to learn what’s what. Up to this point, Komi has never had a friend. But she would one day like to make 100 friends. And starting today, Tadano will be friend #1. Throughout the series, we see Komi try to make new friends and inch closer and closer out of her shell.
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: Like I said before, Netflix got ahold of this anime and made many of us here in the west upset. A lot of anime fans like myself prefer to watch our shows on a week-by-week basis and not wait months after release after piraters saw and ruined everything for everyone else. No one likes that! So, Netflix decided to give the people what they want (and later on fuck things up more). With shows like Komi-san and Blue Period, Netflix decided to be kind and give weekly animes. Now was that so fucking hard? Could you now do that for Pokemon? Freakin’ Canada is hella ahead of us!
With the sub, Aoi Koga has joined that special club of seiyuus who grunt and squeak in the recording session and get paid for their time. Boy, people love those seiyuus. Akari Kitou did that for Nezuko on Demon Slayer and just like that, the fanbase exploded. And just like that, Komi-san has its own fanbase with cute squeaks coming from her. And as for Tadano’s seiyuu…
Oh fuck.
Asta’s voice never leaves. He never leaves! I know his voice actor plays other things besides Asta and not at all grating. It’s just that…my ears know the pain of Asta.
Oh yeah and this little tidbit! In the episode where Tadano and Najimi go to Komi’s home, we are introduced to Komi’s mother. She says the phrase, “Forever 17”. There is only one seiyuu in all of Japan that is notorious for saying that and for looking like she hasn’t aged since the 1980s.
Kikuko Inoue!
So…how many mother roles does this make for her resume?
JAPANESE CAST: *Komi is played by Aoi Koga (known for Kaguya on Kaguya-sama, Shinoaki on Remake Our Lives, Maria on Zombieland Saga, and Naruha on Accelerator)
*Tadano is played by Gakuto Kajiwara (known for Asta on Black Clover, Shinra on Fire Force, Shun on Rent-A-Girlfriend, Ake on Shield Hero, and Kine on Domestic Girlfriend)
ENGLISH CAST: *Komi is played by Amber Lee Connors (known for Pieck on Attack on Titan, Brandish on Fairy Tail, Fortuna on Re:Zero, Nozomi on Keijo!!!!!!!!, Leah on Love Live Sunshine, and Mei on Citrus)
*Tadano is played by Kyle McCarley (known for Claudia on Violet Evergarden, Shinji on Fate/Stay Night, Yushirou on Demon Slayer, Ryouta on Your Lie in April, Tem on Beastars, and Aoba on Durarara)
FAVORITE CHARACTER: Komi-san. Sorry, but she’s at God-level in my book too.
SHIPPING: I’m just going to ship these two and leave.
What else is there to say? Komi x Tadano is cute even though there will be a lot of back and forth and misunderstandings between the two if there is to ever be an actual confession.
CRAZY BITCH ALERT: It was established in the first episode that the school Komi and Tadano attend are full of “unique” students. Everyone has a quirk of some sort! No, not like what your mind immediately jumped to. I think most of us can get past whatever the fuck Najimi is and Agari’s weirdness. And no, that wasn’t a dig at Najimi’s gender, I just think Najimi is nuts. But I seriously can’t get past what Yamai did! I know Komi wants to make 100 friends, but I think she should have thought twice before becoming friends with Yamai. Before I continue, yes, Yamai is on my dislike list.
Before the big Yamai incident, we see her as a fan-girl to Komi-san and very stand-offish whenever Tadano came in the room. But then, Yamai ends up kidnapping Tadano. Tied him up and left him in her room that’s full of stalker pictures of Komi-san. THEN, Najimi and Komi come to Yamai’s home on an invite and they found out she’s a crazy-ass, Notice-Me-Senpai, psychopath! This moment was enough for Komi to tell her off (through writing) and scare the shit out of Najimi.
And that’s the one thing that’s always bugged me is that Komi easily forgives Yamai and allows her to be friends with her. Yamai thankfully doesn’t kidnap any of Komi’s close friends after that, but she does do a lot of shady-ass shit. Wanting to see and feel her boobs is one thing, but stealing her stockings and wearing them over her head is something that should be met with a security guard, Doberman dog, and a restraining order. Bitch needs a tranquilizer!
ENDING TO SEASON ONE: Has Komi managed to make 100 friends yet? No, we’re quite far from that. Although, the friends she has made thus far are unique to say the least, including the latest two, a ditzy airhead and I’m pretty sure Ymir from Attack on Titan. Moving on! We end the season off with a school festival. Komi’s class decided to do a maid café. This was not an easy decision to come by either. Everyone fought tooth and nail over which idea was going to feature Komi in the best light. She is the class goddess you know! But because Komi wrote to Tadano that a maid café would be fun…well, that’s all she wrote…LITERALLY!
Of course, we got all the prepping of the maid café and the school working hard for the festival footage like in any other anime. On the day of the festival, the maid café was doing very well. Komi, despite not being able to speak in front of people pretty much either handed out drinks or fliers. And then Najimi did some unethical things in order to get more customers. As a result, while Komi’s class was the winner of most popular business, their prize was revoked largely due to Najimi’s unethical practices.
Oh, and we get this cute end of the night dance between Tadano and Komi. But it’s not what you would expect. He was in drag and this only lasted about five seconds before Najimi butted-in. And after a job well done, they all went to a karaoke bar. Yes, they had Komi sing. Yes, Komi was a nervous wreck about going up. Yes, all she did was silently squeak. It was all cute and adorable stuff I would expect Komi to do. But she had a lot of fun with Tadano and the rest. These friends are to be treasured by Komi-san always!
AND A SECOND SEASON ANNOUNCMENT! Also, Komi spoke a whole sentence.
SEASON TWO: After all the exciting events that took place last season, you’d think Komi got a bunch of friends now. After giving Komi a notebook dub named, “Komi’s Book of Friends” Najimi broke it to her that she’s only managed to get 13 friends in a total of six months. Yeah, she’s got a ways to go before hitting 100 friends. Also, I’m pretty sure Najimi is hitting some sort of copyright with that book of friends nonsense! Throughout this season, Komi managed to make even more kookier friends than last season. This includes Katai (someone just as shy as Komi, but intimidating to look at), Sasaki (a field trip friend and yo-yo fanatic), Katou (another field trip friend and shogi player), and Naruse the narcissist.
You know what? This fucker almost wound up in my dislike category. If Yamai didn’t exist, he would totally be there. As much as I despise narcissists, Yamai’s existence will trump this kid.
ENDING: Valentines Day and White Day! Get ready for the cuteness.
For Valentines, some of the girls decided to go to Onemine’s home to make some chocolates. While they ate most of the good ones, they were able to scrounge up enough for obligatory chocolates for the classmates and friends. Throughout the day, Komi was trying to find the right time to give Tadano the chocolate that she made. And Tadano kept getting his hopes up as no one gave him a chocolate throughout the entire day. He was about to give up hope until Komi came to his house at night and gave it to him.
For White Day, it was clear that Tadano cares for Komi and it’s getting to a point where he sees her as more than just a friend. Now there’s not going to be any love confessions here yet, hell no! But he does give Komi something special, including hand cream and some candy.
Since we’re now in the month of March in this story, that means it’s almost time for this school year to end. Komi was feeling melancholy about the year ending. She and Tadano reminisced about the fun that went on during the past year like the field trip, the culture festival, and everyone coming to Komi’s house for Christmas. But no matter what changes may occur with the upcoming school year, Komi will always treasure the friends she’s made in her class and that Tadano will always be there for her.
GOD, I LOVE THIS ANIME SO MUCH! I always like to root for Komi whenever she tries new things or is with a new person. I’m glad that she has a small tight-knit group of friends. I know she wants to make 100 friends, but this is a very good start. I don’t even think I ever made it to 100 friends at her age. I wonder what would be next for this story. I often wondered why she never met or hung around any upperclassmen. Maybe we’ll get more of that if this gets another season. Maybe we’ll get some stuff with underclassmen since they’re entering their second year of high school.
I think a lot of people like myself found ourselves in Komi’s position with extreme social anxiety and opening up to new people and surroundings to be hard. Unlike Komi, most of us didn’t really have the privilege of being with a bunch of accepting classmates. I mean, come on! Who here had a pleasant experience in school where you had social anxiety and weren’t chastised for it? Exactly! If this were another sort of genre, I think we’d see more of that shit I had to deal with. Even though I find myself a little envious of Komi’s treatment, I enjoyed watching this anime greatly.
If you want to watch Komi-san Can’t Communicate, Netflix has both seasons available for streaming.

Shattered Reality - Year 1, Part 1
A/N: Finally got around to finish editing this. I know I said I'd work on the Pokemon Crossover project (and I am, concept drawings and the outline are a WIP) but I think it's better I have at least a few different projects to focus on at a time.
That being said, I hope you guys enjoy my story.
TW: brief references to PTSD and grief, I think that's it?
Her eyes snapped open.
Heavy breaths echoed in the room as a scream died in her throat. Soft ticking penetrated the haze first. Moonlight glinted off of the four-star ball. Its familiar energy caressed her aura. Avoca focused on that feeling. Took a deep breath and slowly let it out. She absorbed the soothing blues of her bedroom walls as she kept breathing. Training clothes folded on the nightstand. A picture of her family hanging by the clock. Its glowing hands reading three fifty-seven.
She sighed. No point trying to sleep now. Tossed her covers off and swung her feet around. Avoca grabbed her training clothes as she stood. Started changing, completely dressed when her door opened. She glanced one way. Then the other. No one but her was up. Thankfully.
Trudged her way down the hall and out the front door, steps carefully soft. The deep violets of early morning kept her hidden as she walked across the field. She stopped in front of a rounded door.
“Open, please.” Air hissed out as it unlocked. Slowly, it fell open, turning into a ramp. She tapped the close button as she passed the frame. The second the door resealed, Avoca called out to the system. “Gravity on, level 275.”
She moved into stretches as the weight settled on her body. Deep breath in, an arm raised into an overhead block. Deep breath out, it was slowly switched with a punch from her other hand. She glided through every new movement, aura swirling around her like a gentle tide.
“Increase the gravity to level 290. Training bot level 3,” she called out to the room's control system.
[Commencing…]
Her body became heavier and she tensed all her muscles before relaxing again. One foot slid back and the other moved to the side. Her brother’s feet wavered as she stepped next to him. Set a shaky hand on his shoulder. Her arms rose into a loose block as small orbs floated in. Light swirled through their seams alerting her to their activation. Together they fell into a familiar stance. They could do this. They could end it. She formed a ball of red energy in her hand and smirked. Avoca sent her energy at the nearest bot.
“Give me what your daddy couldn’t.” His aura expanded as the blast grew. “Before I send you home to him.*”
She snarled at the creature. “You’re reign ends now.”
Her blast ricocheted from it onto the others, passing her every chance they could. She let her body take over and forced her mind to fall silent. Years of honed instinct kept her movements fluid as she danced around the blast. The snickering monster was distracted with a blast to his back. Avoca noticed. “Now, brother!” She added another ball to the fray. They gritted their teeth, planted their feet, and forced out everything they had. Another command to the system had the gravity strengthening to 310.
As she created a third energy ball, the door opened. “Avoca-nee?”
She jumped and released the ball as she turned, but the bots took advantage and aimed all three blasts at her. Growling, Avoca twirled, tail unwrapping from her waist to bat them into the walls. She commanded the system to shut off and whirled back to her brother.
“Gohan, you know better than to come in here when I’m in the middle of my routine!” The younger Saiyan chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. Avoca sighed. “Just be careful next time, okay?”
He glanced away and scratched his cheek. Her heart lurched. Gohan looked just like their father doing that. She sighed and asked him why he’d come to get her. “I wanted to make sure you'd have time to get ready for your first day.”
Shit. Had she gotten too caught up in training? It wouldn’t be the first time. “What time is it?”
[The current time is six, twenty-two…] echoed through the room.
“Oh, good. I have time to shower.” The Saiyan girl thanked her brother as she rushed down the hall. Maybe school could keep her memories away for a while.

A week earlier, on the other side of town, a team of teachers were chatting as they waited for the principal. He’d called an impromptu meeting so early some of them were still yawning. One person, in particular, was curious why Nedzu would call him in. He wasn’t even done with his teacher certification yet.
The tired heroes perked up as the being in question finally joined them. In his paws was a red USB that arrested everyone's attention. Its implications sobered them immediately.
Nedzu maneuvered into his seat at the head of the table and smiled. "Good morning everyone! I'm sorry to call a meeting like this on such short notice, but I've been informed that one of our new admittees is… quite powerful."
He paused to plug the drive into the table's display input. The places in front of the staff members lit up with the school logo before showed a fierce young brunette with determined amber eyes. There was a hardened light in her gaze that told of her experience in battle. Her hair was noticeably thick and spiky, much like the furry tail around her waist.
"This is Son Avoca, publicly registered as Midoriya Izumi." The lightness in Nedzu's tone vanished. A conflicted look took over his face. "She is one of the two children responsible for ending Perfect Cell."
Toshinori's heart dropped. She was so young and had already been exposed to such horrors. He'd known the two who'd stopped the creature were a bit young, but he wasn't expecting children. She was barely fourteen.
"From what I understand, young Gohan will also be attending UA in a couple of years." The screen changed to show an even younger boy with black hair just as spiky as his sister's. Though his expression was a bit softer, the same determination reflected in his eyes. "He'll be going to a nearby middle school until then."
Toshinori frowned. If these kids were so powerful… "How come we hadn't heard of them before the Cell Games?" The abilities they displayed both with and without the aid of their quirks was unbelievable. Most kids their age had nowhere near the amount of training they surely must've had.
"They were living out in the mountains in the southern district. But they have been mentioned in the news before." At this, Nedzu's nose twitched. "Had Miss Son- Miss Midoriya - not mentioned it herself, I doubt even I would've noticed the connection."
The principal pulled up an infamous headline from eight years ago.
Throat dry, Toshinori glanced around at the other teachers and found them just as pale as he felt. He returned his focus to the files. The more he read, the more questions he had, a pit growing in his stomach with each one. The hows and whys swirled in his mind until Nezu spoke again.
“I know you all have questions. I do too.” His smile returned. “I've organized an interview so we may learn more about Miss Midoriya and perhaps find some answers.”
“Wait.” Present Mic frowned and leaned back in his chair. “I don't recognize her. Did she not take the entrance exam?”
Nezu's smile became strained. “The Hero Commission was quite insistent about her attending our school.”
Oh. That explained a lot. It also brought more questions Toshinori wasn’t sure he wanted answers to.

Looking at her reflection, Avoca turned. The skirt was a little short on her with how curvy she was starting to get. At least they were allowed to wear leggings underneath it. The blazer was a nice neutral grey to compliment the greens of the skirt and lapel stripes.
Her gaze caught the papers sitting on her desk and the brunette frowned. All the important papers she needed to verify her "new identity." Any reference to their father or their role in the Cell Games was conveniently left out. But they'd made note that Principal Nezu and her teachers would be aware of who she was.
Ugh, the regulation and hidden identity were like some twisted witness protection program. More like monitoring persons of interest. She shook her head to force those thoughts from her mind.
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. She turned to see her brother in the doorway. His pink checks and twitching tail made her smile reassuringly at him.
He rubbed the back of his neck. "I, uh, couldn't tuck it in comfortably…"
Avoca giggled. "I had the same problem when we were younger. Here," pulled the band of skirt down. Lifted and resettled her tail. "Wrap it just under the waistband and don't wear a belt." Watched her brother do as told. Gave him a small smile when he didn't look back up. Patted his shoulder. "It'll be fine, brother. We just have to play by their rules a bit." Gohan merely sighed.
He was dressed in his own uniform. The black slacks and blazer looked good on him. She ruffled his hair and laughed at his protest. He'll make friends easily.
Which reminded her… "You remember the names we've been registered under, right?"
The boy nodded. He didn't like having to hide their identities. She didn't either. They were children of Earth's former protector. Maybe they wouldn't shout it from the rooftops, but it's not like anyone would think to look into their father’s past. It wasn't out of shame, but it felt like they were hiding their father.
"Well, let's get going." Avoca sighed and grabbed her backpack. "We don't wanna be late on our first day."
"Yeah."
She nudged his shoulder. He nudged her back. They joked and played as they walked out. She laughed.
Avoca had hope that whatever adventure lay before them, it would be one full of memories.

SVERN EXAMINATION
Tagged by: @hatsudenki, thanks!! Tagging: I saw a lot of people have done this already, if you haven’t and want to, please feel free to steal it and tag me!!
LAYER ONE: THE OUTSIDE.
NAME: █████████ ███████ ██████ ████████████ (Yes, that really is the actual length of his full name.) EYE COLOR: Amber. HAIR STYLE/COLOUR: Auburn, slightly wavy, medium-short. HEIGHT: 165 cm (5′5″) CLOTHING STYLE: Most of the time, he dresses in a fairly typical “cool teenage boy” style, with a jacket (denim/leather) and plain t-shirt, jeans, and some sneakers; but he isn’t shy about trying different things, so it depends on the day and what he could get his hands on. Ditto will transform into an accessory to match! BEST PHYSICAL FEATURE: If you ask him, it’s his entire self. Otherwise, he used to be proud of his hair when it was long.
LAYER TWO: THE INSIDE.
FEARS: Fears? This guy? The thing that he would most dislike having happen is a loss of freedom, but is he afraid of it...? No, not really. He would hate for it to happen, because it means it’ll be harder to distract himself from his cynical bored self, but fear is too strong and specific a description to accurately apply. GUILTY PLEASURE(S): No guilty pleasures, only pleasures. BIGGEST PET PEEVE(S): Not being able to get a reaction out of someone that he’s been really trying to get a reaction out of. AMBITIONS FOR THE FUTURE: Honestly? Aside from whatever the heck with the Shadow Crystal, he doesn’t really have any. Keep himself physically and mentally stimulated, and live life in such a way that he has to endure as little boredom as possible.
LAYER THREE: THOUGHTS.
FIRST THOUGHT(S) WAKING UP: If he dreamed about anything, then it’ll be about whatever he was dreaming about; before then moving on to what he’s going to do that day. WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MOST: It’s difficult to say if there is a “most”. He divides his mental energy between everything he wants to keep up with, plans to do, or is interested in, and shifts between focuses quickly and easily as if on schedule. Although now, the Shadow Crystal is always lurking in the background. YOU THINK YOUR BEST QUALITY IS: Once again, if asked, he would just say “everything”. The most conventional and socially acceptable answer would be that he’s very smart, although it might not seem believable to the company asking.
LAYER FOUR: WHAT’S BETTER?
SINGLE OR GROUP DATES: The difference wouldn’t be great under most circumstances, but at core he prefers single dates. TO BE LOVED OR RESPECTED: Respect is more tangible to him than love. However, love is interesting to him by virtue of being such a strong emotion. He would like the idea of being loved primarily because it would be interesting to play around with. BEAUTY OR BRAINS: He would prefer both together, but will absolutely always discard looks in favour of someone who has a good set of brains. Idiots get boring, even beautiful ones. DOGS OR CATS: He doesn’t care. Prefers insects.
LAYER FIVE: DO YOU?
LIE: Yes. Constantly. When does a lie become not a lie? BELIEVE IN YOURSELF: Come on, this guy’s self confidence is unshakeable. He knows no fear. He knows no shame. He’s the smartest person that he knows and does whatever he wants, whenever he wants to. Yes, he absolutely believes in himself. BELIEVE IN LOVE: Yes, as a concept, as something that most of humanity experiences. For him, it’s just another emotion that’s interesting to observe in others, but that he fails to grasp. WANT SOMEONE: No.
LAYER SIX: EVER BEEN…
BEEN ON STAGE: Yes. DONE DRUGS: Yes, experimentally. CHANGED WHO YOU WERE TO FIT IN: This entire rambunctious personality he shoves in everyone’s face 24/7? In a sense, that was constructed in order for him to better integrate into society. It hardly helps win people over, considering he’s a jerk who loves to mess with people, but it’s somehow more agreeable than his original unemotive, cynical, dismissive self. Go figure.
LAYER SEVEN: FAVOURITES.
FAVOURITE COLOR: He has a liking for violet. FAVOURITE POKEMON: His favourite categories of Pokémon are bugs, poison-types or any that produce toxins, and artificial Pokémon. Any of those, he “absolutely adores”, as he’d say. FAVOURITE MOVIE: (Probably something that the mun hasn’t seen yet. Curse my lack of media exposure.) FAVOURITE GAME: see above
LAYER EIGHT: AGE.
DAY YOUR NEXT BIRTHDAY WILL BE: Novermber 4. HOW OLD WILL YOU BE: Who knows? :p AGE YOU LOST YOUR VIRGINITY: In his teens somewhere. DOES AGE MATTER: Not terribly much, but like, within reason.
LAYER NINE: IN A PERSON.
BEST PERSONALITY: Someone who’s bold and will sass him and call it when he’s being a dumbass, who’ll join him on his various escapades. Someone smart but not annoying to be around. BEST EYE COLOR: Red, actually! BEST HAIR COLOR: Doesn’t care. BEST THING TO DO WITH A PARTNER: Anything interesting where they can have a fun time, whether that means sitting down for hours to discuss topics of mutual interest, consuming media, or going out and getting some adrenaline rushing.
LAYER TEN: FINISH THE SENTENCE.
I LOVE: “Me, my Pokémon, the people that I don’t hate!” I FEEL: “Like engaging in rooftop parkour. I haven’t exercised much today. I don’t suppose anyone wants to join in?” I HIDE: “Hahaha! Why would I tell you that?” I MISS: “Castelia City. I had a lot of fun there.” I WISH: “That hair didn’t take so long to grow back out!”
#point your finger and deny (dash games)#long post#he is incapable of giving straight answers even to a dash game#i had this finished days ago#why didn't i post it?#because i wanted to use a drawn icon#(eventually gave up)

genshin anon! tumblr you hoe don't eat my responses ): uhh not entirely sure where i stopped with 1 and started with 3 so. i think i was agreeing with zhongli sadly not being back for a while and rosaria being in soon. OH maybe i mentioned wanting albedo. i was doing all their story quests and his was so interesting and i want him. i want everyone eventually but ill only try real hard on the ones i really want. and floor 7 of the spiral abyss is awful ): maybe thats what i said in part 2 lol.
lmaoo ok ok well here’s the other 3 parts so i will respond with that in mind! also ig i’ll just call you genshin anon now if that’s okay <3
(whoo the genshin anon again from the other day lol) .... i didn't even realize those mushroom were in mondtstadt oh my gosh. googled their location and wow have i been missing oUT lol. there's so many more than i thought there were. idk the oceanid isn't too terrible. not my favorite but still isn't the worst (in my opinion) to do. ahh yeah i can see that with sucrose. i.. don't particularly plan that well so maybe that's why she won't fit in my team lol.(1/4)
(3/4) the friendships are kind of annoying. like you don't really get anything from them? just a namecard and their story. wish they did more like giving you more of a chance to make their special dish or when you use their talents they have a higher chance to work (like where they have a chance to make a second of a dish or item etc). idk i just feel like they could add more to it? yeah only 4 polearm users ): i think rosaria is going to be polearm? i pulled the skyward spine long before i had
(4/4) anyone to use a polearm. ugh yeah i get so many claymores from the banner. yeah it's kind of annoying to have to plan out what to do like that. like today i need so many materials from the domains since like everything i use is todays materials, but i want to get boss items to level up and artifacts and just ugh let me do what i want lol. wish the resin could get tweaked some. yeah noelle. ditched her once i had other characters lol.
yeah one of my fears is that one of the materials that’s actually hard to get (like the violets on the cliffsides or whatever) is gonna be an ascension material like ajkdfl so it’s worth collecting literally EVERYTHING u see while exploring. i just dislike how long the oceanid takes like you can’t really power through it like the other bosses you HAVE to sit through each stage -_- like when the platforms drop ur literally just standing there lmao
ooo yeah albedo was kind of another character whose banner i just sat through lmao. but speaking of albedo and zhongli i REALLY like their english voices i normally have japanese voices on but if i ever get them they’re gonna be on my “english voices team” jfdalkfsd i remember when i was doing their story quests i had english voices on just to hear them talk. albedo does have a really interesting story tho i hope it gets developed more in the future!
and i actually did go back to the spiral abyss after we talked about it LMAO omg but yeah floor 7 fucking sucks bc once those fatui agents have their shield up or whatever they take forever to beat if you don’t have the right elements. that being said i made it to the tenth floor lmao yippee but yeah don’t have that many stars on floor 7
true there’s literally no real incentive to maxing friendship like afkdlj i wish the rewards were primogems or something actually of value bc the namecards definitely. aren’t really worth it at all lmao. or like you said some sort of bonus to their talents/elemental skills/bursts or whatever. kinda like pokemon where when you max friendship your pokemon can like “tough it out” and stuff lmao.
maybe that’s something they’ll add in the future like ascending a character to a certain level also didn’t use to give us anything but now some of them gives you a bunch of rewards.
yeah from some supposed leaks i saw that she was a polearm. interestingly enough i saw people point out that she fights like a claymore user tho and there’s some suspicions that she was a claymore user but then they went “we don’t have enough polearms” and then made her a polearm lmaoo
and yeah with the resin you basically have to dedicate your day to one thing and one thing only lmao. i wish there was a better way to farm resin because right now you can only really get it through rewards and stuff :/ i get that with free games like this they can’t give you EVERYTHING otherwise there wouldn’t be an incentive to play every day but ya know
lmao noelle her and amber really are the two everyone ditches once they get more characters jaflskdjadsf

The First Meeting, In a Cafe (Leon/Joey Shorts 1/???)
Tagging: @lovely-selfships, @foreveryours-mouse, @charliedoyleloves
(Let me know if you wish to be tagged in this series or any other self-ship writing of mine! I’m more than happy to do it so the people who want to see my stuff can find it more easily.)
Fandom: Pokemon SwSh
Rating: SFW
Warnings: None (But later stories will includes depictions of struggling with depression and mentions of past self-harm, suicidal ideation, and childhood emotional abuse and will be tagged when said topics come up)
There was an unsteady rhythm to the rapping of her fingers against the table as her eyes anxiously flitted back to her phone. The side patio of the Cafe had less of the chatter from other patrons as inside, but that was simply replaced by the patter of footsteps against the sidewalks and the occasional dull whir of an engine as a vehicle sped by. The smell of coffee drifted outside from the side door, causing a small sigh to escape her.
Lee was getting close to being half an hour late. She was already sweating bullets about this situation before, but the fact he was late made it worse.
Joey wasn’t sure to begin with that coming all the way to the Galar region to crash with a friend she only knew online was a good idea. Luckily he seemed more than happy to meet up with her in a public place so they could meet each other in person before she committed to this.
And should he turn out to be a creep, she had a friend of hers keeping a watchful eye. Not that she thought Lee was likely to be a creep, but on the off chance, it was better to be prepared.
That might not be necessary though if he didn’t even show up.
“Blas?” Claudia, her Blastoise, shifted impatiently in her spot next to her at the table. The two had been together practically since Joey’s infancy, so it took little effort for Joey to understand her partner Pokemon’s state.
“I know. It’s really getting to be late. He sent me a text saying he was running late, but still.”
“Blastoise...”
“I’m starting to wonder if this was worth it,” Joey thought aloud. “On the other hand, I guess I am glad for the change of scenery. Even if it winds up being for only a couple of days instead of a few weeks.”
Motostoke had a charm to it, with it’s steam-powered moving platforms and the the little shops that lined the streets. Some buildings were newer, styled much like the modern towering skyscrapers of Castelia City back in Unova from where she came. But many were older and not imposing in the same way, with brick and stone exteriors.
It would be dishonest of her if she didn’t admit she wanted to explore the place more.
I shouldn’t even really be on this trip, though, she scolded herself. If it weren’t for the fact I literally can’t go back to work for the next few weeks, that’s where I would be. Where I should be.
Joey turned her gaze back to her coffee, starting to get lost in her own thoughts again. She would wait a little while longer. But only a little while.
A few moments passed, and the relative quiet was interrupted by the sound of a stomach gurgling.
“Blas...Blastoise?” Joey looked up to see Claudia’s expression shift to something that appeared more pained as she briefly patted her belly.
“Oh dear,” Joey remarked, “Are you hungry, Claudia? It is past lunchtime now.”
The Blastoise nodded in agreement. “Blas.”
“I know Lemon treats are your favorite, there were some in the case back inside. I could get some if you like?”
Claudia nodded with more enthusiasm at the suggestion.
“Okay. I’ll be right back. Can you mind the table while I’m gone?”
“Blastoise!”
“Thanks, Claudia. I’m really sorry about all of this.” Joey got up from the table and pushed in her seat, taking her phone with her but leaving Claudia behind. She only planned to be gone for a few minutes. Unfortunately, the line inside told her that it might be longer then that.
Joey sighed, briefly looking back before she glanced down to her phone.
No new DMs, she observed. The last message displayed was from fifteen minutes ago.
Sorry Helix, I’m running late! I’m having trouble finding the Cafe. I promise I’ll try to be there as soon as possible.
Joey got in line and began a second waiting game in addition to the one she was already playing. If Lee does show up, it’s going to be a bit strange to start calling each other by our real names, she thought. Up until now, we’ve only known each other by our internet nicknames.
They also didn’t know what the other looked or sounded like. It might very well be quite the surprise for both of them. Although if Joey were being honest, she wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
Lee had been a kind, goofy and excitable sort in the several months the two corresponded. But what stood out with him was his ability to support and encourage others and to take difficult situations with grace. His friendship had been invaluable to her.
Perhaps this was a major part of what made her nervous. He’d come to be an important fixture in her life. If things didn’t turn out well or he wasn’t as he appeared, it would hurt.
Joey continued to wait as the line slowly dwindled and she moved closer to the counter little by little. Occasionally she would look at her phone for new messages, but there was nothing. Otherwise she kept her focus on the lemon treats as they sat at the front of the display case by the service counter.
They look delicious, she thought. Claudia’s going to love them!
She was nearing the service counter, and eventually it was her turn to order. She asked for a pair of lemon treats and paid for them before they were taken from the case and handed to her. Joey stepped to the side to let the next person approach, and turned to make her way back to the patio. But then, she heard a voice from near the front door of the cafe.
“Excuse me. I didn’t see you there, please forgive me.”
“Oh, Champion! Don’t worry about it. Please, go ahead. I was actually about to go sit down.”
Joey turned her head. Champion? Her eyes briefly went wide. Recognition flared up as she saw a tall man perhaps a little bit younger than her with long violet hair close the door behind him and make his way further in.
Oh! That’s the champion of the Galar Pokemon league, Leon! Joey found a big grin pulling at her face. Lee’s such a big fan of his and collects all sorts of merch. I bet he’d be so stoked if he knew Leon was here.
Joey observed him for a moment, noticing that he started to walk off to the side and pull out his phone. Catching herself a moment, she chided herself mentally a bit for being nosy and tried to redirect herself to go back to her table on the patio. She began her stride, but found herself stopped as she felt her phone begin to vibrate in the pocket of her sweatshirt.
Joey pulled out her phone to see a notification lighting up the screen.
It’s Lee! Talk about timing...
She opened up her phone too see the text in detail.
I’m finally here! Again, I’m so sorry for being late. Where are you sitting? I’ll come find you.
He’s here? She looked over but saw nobody had come in since Leon. Maybe he came in just before? There were a few other people who came in while I was waiting in line.
I’m actually just got a snack for Claudia and was about to head back to the table on the patio, she typed back in reply. Why don’t you wave and I’ll come find you? If you see a gremlin in an Umbreon hoodie coming towards you, that’s me.
Joey kept her phone in hand, while holding the bag of lemon treats in the other. She began to look around the cafe for someone waving there hand. It was a moment or two, but eventually her eyes caught sight of someone waving their hand, and a pair of amber eyes looking back at her.
A startled response briefly overtook her and she blurted out in response to seeing who was waving back at her.
“WHAT-” she stopped as she spotted multiple gazes now pointed in her direction, almost crumbling inward in embarrassment. She began to approach, clutching her phone and treats tightly as her feet briskly brought her forward.
The person waving at her was Leon. And she couldn’t brush it off as a coincidence when he was the only one waving and he was looking right at her. Joey excused herself as walked past someone in the line. This can’t be right, she argued with herself. Lee can’t be Leon. It doesn’t make sense!
She finally stopped in front of him, attempting to compose herself. Her reaction probably didn’t come as that much of a surprise. But he probably thought it was because she didn’t expect the friend she’d been corresponding with all these months was a celebrity. But it had more to do with the fact she didn’t expect someone to collect their own merchandise.
And perhaps the fact she had more assumptions about him than she thought.
“Are you Helix?” he asked. She wasn’t very good at reading people, but she could at least gather that he was anticipating her response.
“Yeah,” she replied, “In the flesh. Although I generally go by Joey in real life.” She began to put her phone back in her pocket as she tried to meet his eyes as closely as she could without causing herself discomfort. Eye contact was always hard for her, but she especially didn’t want to obviously be avoiding it for the moment. “Are you Lee?”
“Joey,” he repeated her name with noticeable enthusiasm and a smile before his expression shifted to a more apologetic one. “It’s nice to meet you in person. I want to apologize again for keeping you so long. If it weren’t for Charizard I probably wouldn’t have gotten here.” He blinked in realization before he cleared his throat, almost as if he was nervous. “I’m Lee. Or Leon, as you’ve probably figured out.”
“You know it fits in a lot of ways,” Joey admitted as the reality of the situation began to sink in, “But, certain things don’t add up. Namely, I wouldn’t have thought you would be an avid collector of your own merch!”
Leon chuckled.
“I wasn’t at first. I started getting it for my little brother, Hop in the beginning. But I was so impressed with all the things my fans created that I guess I started wanting some for myself as well.”
Joey nodded. “I see. So ChampionHour was a way for you to quietly look for things you thought Hop would like and then it became a way for you to quietly interact with your own fandom and various Pokemon centric groups online.”
“I guess it did. I mean, I have a more public account that I use in a more official capacity but... yes.” Leon answered as his eyes wandered towards the side door. “So you said your table was out on the patio?”
“Yeah. Guarded by my three thousand pound Blastoise. Can’t miss it.”
“I see,” he laughed. “You mentioned Claudia would be with you for security. I understand why. All the same, I’m glad to meet both you and your partner Pokemon. Did you bring any of your other Pokemon with you?”
“Corti’s in her Pokeball but everyone else is back at the hotel or in the box system,” Joey replied as she gestured to her pockets. Cortana, or Corti for short, was Joey’s Raichu, and her other closest partner besides Claudia. “And I’m glad to meet you too. Although to be honest I was worried you weren’t going to show up, and well... as is obvious, I didn’t put two and two together.”
“Honestly I’m not surprised and I don’t think you should fault yourself. I think a lot of people wouldn’t have thought to consider it,” he answered as he followed her outside. “Especially with a nickname as blatant as Lee. Actually I chose it because it’s the nickname Hop calls me.”
“I see. That makes sense considering you originally made your account to look for stuff for him,” Joey considered.
“And again, I really am sorry,” he repeated, “I’ve never been great at finding my way around, even in places I’ve been to a million times. But I shouldn’t have kept you waiting. I understand if you’re miffed.”
“I am a little, I won’t lie,” she confessed. “But you’re here now and I accept your apology. So don’t worry too much about it, alright?”
“I’ll try not to.” He smiled. “Also I’m glad you didn’t wait to get something for yourself.”
“Oh this?” Joey held up the bag. “Oh I mainly got this for Claudia. But... I should probably eat too.” At that moment Joey felt her stomach softly burbling.
“That sounds like a good idea,” he replied with a small chuckle. he looked up and his smile widened. “Ah! I see my partner has found yours just fine.”
“Hm?” Joey looked over to see that next to Claudia was another Pokemon. Specifically, a Charizard. “Oh! Right, you mentioned your Charizard helped you find your way here.”
My friend Lee is Leon, she processed. And that’s his Charizard talking to Claudia. Whatever I might have expected deep down, it wasn’t this.
Charizard and Claudia appeared to be having a lively conversation, although both quickly looked up when Joey and Leon came to the table. Claudia huffed at Leon before she tilted her head sighed softly towards Joey. Charizard snorted looking quite amused.
“I know Claudia. He did say he was sorry though,” Joey answered her Blastoise. “It looks like you and Charizard are both mutually annoyed from the looks of it. Can I take that as a sign the two of you are getting along?”
Charizard let out a low rumble of agreement.
“Thanks for getting us here, Charizard,” Leon said to his friend before addressing Claudia, “ I should say sorry to you too, though.”
“Blas.” Claudia nodded in acceptance before her eyes caught the paper bag with treats. “Blastoise! Blas?”
“Yeah! I got us both one. Here-” Joey pulled out a treat from the bag and handed it to Claudia. “Thanks for being so patient, friend. Hope it’s good!”
“I haven’t exactly made a good first impression, have I? I know you’re already nervous about the prospect of staying with my in my loft over your leave.”
Joey frown, finally visibly averting her gaze. “To be honest, I think I’d be nervous whether you were late or not.”
“Because we never met in real life until now. Although I imagine knowing who I am now probably doesn’t help things.”
“Well...” Joey began to rub the back of her neck. “Maybe a little.”
“You don’t need to downplay it,” he assured her, “But I know you well enough to know you won’t treat me differently because I’m a public figure and a celebrity, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“I guess there’s no sweeping that under the rug, huh?” she sighed. “I guess there’s a bit more to talk about than where I’d be sleeping and what’s off limits in your fridge if I agree to this.”
At this Leon laughed. “You can take anything in my fridge you like,” he replied, “There are more things to talk about yes. But what I said before we agreed to meet here still holds true. You’re my friend and I want to help. But I also want you to be comfortable. If for any reason you decide your not comfortable, I want you to assert yourself, okay?” He was gentle but firm. “That includes asserting you’d rather return to Unova.”
A moment of clarity cut through the haze of unreality she was feeling at the situation. He was talking just like her did in their DMs with each other. Only the difference now was he was physically here and she could hear his voice.
That was perhaps unreal in its own way.
He really was her friend, Lee.
“I appreciate it,” she replied. “So, then, I guess we should figure out what to talk about first then.”
#tales of a magus (fanfiction)#verse (pokemon world)#a guiding lost star (champion leon)#the pokemon world isn't as rough as the real world#so i imagine certain concerns we have irl might still exist but be more manageable reduced or even nonexistent#also i'm sorry if i butchered his character

7 Things I Enjoyed in 2019 that Aren’t Fairy Tail
So the year is almost over and you know the drill. Let's go.
#7. Alita Battle Angel
What does it say that half of the movies I’ve seen in theaters are on this list? I'm so glad I saw this in theaters when it was available. In a world where live-action adaptations of animated works, and especially anime, are handled poorly, it's great to see this movie was well made, well-received by fans and critics, and actually made a profit. In the first hour of the movie, we go from wanting to see Alita do anything to wanting her to destroy the government and we see her work towards that end through the rest of the movie. If James Cameron is somehow reading this, I know a lot of people would love to see a sequel to this.
#6. Shazam!
(This was not one I saw in theaters.) This year has been particularly good for the DC fan base. After their streaming service went live last year, they've seemed to make a lot of big plays. This movie, along with Aquaman (which isn't here because of Amber Heard), have marked the revival of the DCEU, and it's future looks bright with James Gunn coming to revamp Suicide Squad. I've heard nothing but good things about the Joker movie and wouldn't mind seeing it win an Oscar or two. And with the new Batman establishing another continuity, it seems that Warner Bros. is planning to compete with the MCU by making its own multiverse. On Shazam, this movie stands as a great uplifting tale of family and the good within a person. Shazam is one of the few comic characters who I had heard of through his comic endeavors and I'm glad one Captain Marvel had a great movie this year.
#5. Hero's
I wasn't planning on putting this on the list here. But apparently, Weekly Shonen Magazine's 50th anniversary is also this year. To celebrate, Mashima decided to run a crossover special with his three big series which ran in the magazine: Rave Master, Fairy Tail, and Edens Zero. I have had a lot of fun seeing these characters interact with each other as one of many people who have read all three. If this were longer than a volume, I might have considered putting it higher. Expect me to talk about it more next year.
#4. Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse
Yes, this is too low. In a normal year, this would be the best movie I've seen this year. Alas, it's not even my favorite animated film of the year. That being said, it didn't win an Oscar for no reason. This movie serves as both the best Spiderman movie this side of the Raimi trilogy and one of the best-animated movies of the past two decades. The fact that it works as both an amazing look into Miles Morales and a great introduction into the Spider-Verse (I didn't plan for this pun) is a wonder in a world where studios attempting to copy the success of the MCU fail at trying to accomplish one or the other. With a sequel planned a few years away, the future's looking bright for this Spiderman. If only his MCU counterpart were so lucky...
#3. The Rising of the Shield Hero
Picking only one anime series for this list was hard. There was a lot of good anime to come out this year. While I loved seeing a fellow Weekly Shonen Magazine anime do well in Fire Force and was vindicated in suggesting Astra: Lost in Space, I've decided to sidestep Funimation owned titles (says the Fairy Tail writer) and talk about this. I remember a podcast about two years ago where famous YouTubers said that this show would blow up if it was made into an anime, and, stupid controversy aside, I can see why. This show handles an overlooked issue inherent to the popular "in another world" stories: how the views of the heroes on the world affect their actions and attempts to save it. Is it possible to ruin the world you're trying to save? Is it worth trying to save a world that hates you? With the same studio behind Made in Abyss at the helm for two more seasons, I'm interested to see where the story goes.
#2. A Silent Voice
Wondering why Spider-Verse is so low? I saw this movie in the same month in theaters. Even as the hype surrounding this movie was hampered by sharing the spotlight with your name the year it came out, it's made a number of return trips to the movie theaters. As a victim of bullying, I feel that the story was unexpectedly impactful, even knowing a few of the plot beats before going into the theater. Kyoto Animation gave us the studio's best movie this side of Haruhi and Naoko Yamada has yet to make a bad anime. This movie outright deserved to be nominated for the Oscar over Boss Baby and Ferdinand and had a real shot of beating Coco for the statue. This has been the easiest 10/10 I've given an anime in years.
#1. Avengers: Endgame
Apologies to Martin Scorsese. I readily admit that this movie probably isn't the best movie in the MCU, the best thing to come out this year, or even the best thing on this list. Even among the movies made by the Russo Brothers, this might be the one with the most mess. At the same time, I can't think of anything that gets to the same heights as this movie. It helps that we only got this after over a decade worth of movies handled by a number of incredibly talented people, many of whom helped make this and Infinity War the hits they were. If the legitimacy of comic book movies has been had been established since the early 2000s, in no small part due to other Marvel movies, this movie serves as a sign that comic book movies have reached an amazing sense of cultural relevance.
For honorable mentions, in addition to the other things I've praised from this year, I can't reiterate my recommendation of Real Girl enough for bringing one of my favorite anime of last year to a satisfying conclusion, especially given a rather interesting twist close to the end of the second season. Under the Red Hood served as a reminder to the amazing quality of old school Batman stories, even as it deals with Batman in a more worried state than I'm used to. I debated adding Violet Evergarden and Kill la Kill on this list as I’ve enjoyed finally getting through them, but I’m still letting my thoughts sit about them. As of the time I’m writing this, I am on the final chapter of Fire Emblem Echoes and it would be here if I didn’t start it last year. I've also been reminded of how good Pokemon Crystal and Gurren Lagann are.
I’m definitely planning on making more posts next year, including the revival of my series rewriting Fairy Tail. If you want to know my favorite things from Edens Zero this year, check out my list on my main blog. See you next year!

ALL OF THEM
….gee, i wonder who this clown is.
angel - what’s one character trait you like about yourself?
already answered!
doll - what’s your favourite outfit?
oh…i have this black skirt that i really love. it’s fitted almost entirely except it flares a bit at the hem, and it reaches a few inches above the knee. i like pairing that with t-shirts, like pokemon, or flowered t-shirts….just anything cozy. sneakers and a backpack. if it’s cold, i wear my flannel.
pumpkin - what’s your favourite weather and why?
cool, but not too cold. cloudy, with a soft, comforting breeze. maybe it smells like rain but it isn’t raining. i just feel the best with this weather.
baby - what makes you feel better when you’re down?
it really depends on what i want. sometimes a nap, sometimes playing a videogame. sometimes cuddling the one i love, or a cat, or both. and sometimes watching old cartoons.
sugarpie - what’s your favourite sweet treat?
ohhh, this is hard. i love cake, and my favorite kind of cake is spice cake. i also love cheesecake, and i’m a big fan of iced coffee and milkshakes.
kitten - are you a dog person or a cat person?
i love both to death, but i think i’m definitely more partial to cats.
princess - if you could live in any other time period, which would it be?
why would i go anywhere different, racism and misogyny still exist now–
i think if anything, solely for aesthetic purposes, the 60s.
peach - what’s your ideal aesthetic?
soft, lazy pastels with accents of black and grey colors. backpacks and sneakers. cozy comfy. sleepy as fuck.
darling - what romantic gesture makes you feel the most loved?
oh boy, here’s where i get embarrassed…
i love when he lets me rest a pillow on his lap (i can’t just lay my head on his leg i need some cushion bc he’s rail thin ok) and lets me rest and snooze against him while he’s gaming, and then during loading screens he scratches right at the nape of my neck. that’s my favorite.
button - do you have a type? what is it like?
i either like sweet, smol boys with big hearts, or giant guys who are loud and happy. there’s no in between, and both of them have to be able to hug me really nice.
for girls.....all girls. any girls. girl.
sweet pea - what’s your favourite flower?
oh i have so many…i love roses, especially pale colored ones like pink and ivory. i also really like violets and lavender. tulips are special to me as well because they were my mema’s favorite.
petal - what’s your favourite smell or perfume?
my favorites are rose, musk, sandalwood, coffee, lavender, vanilla, cinnamon, and amber. not necessarily altogether. i also really like men’s cologne smells, but of course it depends on the cologne.
sunshine - what’s the nicest compliment you’ve ever gotten?
in my junior year of college i was walking around the main campus building with no makeup, two-day-old hair, shorts and an old hoodie, and i know i hadn’t shaved my legs recently. someone told me i looked amazing, and i knew i finally, after all this time, reached peak attractiveness. it only took me 20 years, dammit. fuck off, high school.
baby girl - how do you like to be held?
in every way. i’m a cuddlebug.
lover - how do you show someone you like them?
i show complete obliviousness and denial and ask them if they want any ham.
in all seriousness, i have no fucking clue. i’m the worst when it comes to the crush phase.
buttercup - what does/would your online dating bio say?
“help i don’t know what i’m doing”
boo - what’s your dream date?
i want to go to a carnival or a festival with him. so fucking bad.
cupcake - if you’re treating yourself, what do you do?
i usually treat myself with food, wine, or makeup/skincare. just depends on my mood. i have a shit ton of points i can redeem at sephora because of it now.
wild thing - what’s something about you that surprises people?
that i’m not an innocent person/that i swear/etc. i look like i’m twelve and i sound like i’m five.
bubba - tell me a funny story from your childhood.
i once called my mother when i was ten years old after a tornado warning hit the weather channel, crying and telling her to hide under the desk. she just laughed and told me she was fine and she would be home later. of course, nothing happened, and come to find out i was on speakerphone when i called her office.

my favorite movie of all time is pan’s labyrinth, but lately i’ve been obsessed with into the spider-verse.
my love - what would your dream home be like?
a flat apartment in the big city. a brick wall somewhere is involved, with dark wood flooring. wide, beautiful windows, and plenty of them. lots of open space. a small balcony with enough room for a small table and chairs and some plants. everything is within walking distance. safe and cozy and full of light.
dear - pick whatever question you’d most like to answer!
well, seeing as i’ve now answered all of them, i’m gonna skip this one.
@meddadius thank you for sending this, honey.

Lunar Violet: Chapter 1
Content Warning and Foreword: Just don’t read this. Seriously. One night instead of venting into a journal nobody would ever read, I decided to channel my turmoil and restlessness into a work of fiction. The result we have here is the first chapter of a hopefully not ongoing series, which if I write another word of it will be an anthology of short stories chronicling the lives of the people that live in a small town with a population of exactly 26 people. I will repeat in clear terms that this is in no way autobiographical in any way. For realsies. Also this is my “After Hours” blog now, which means this is now the destination for everything I decide to put out on this site that I deem not suited for display on my main blog. You have been warned.
Well, I guess it started that one night. Yeah, that was about the time, I’ll start there. I found myself hunched over my desk, passively scribbling away under the soft orange lamplight. Since my chair faced out the attic window, I always had a clear view of my muse at night: the bare neighborhood streets, free from the burden of its residents. Streetlights hummed and cicadas sang, providing the soundtrack to my work.
I’m not sure why, but at approximately 10:33 that night I’d felt an incredibly strong urge to write. Just write. I hadn’t any particular ideas of what exactly I was to write, but I’d decided that I was indeed going to use a pen to create a story upon paper. And so far it was going spectacularly. I’d gotten off to a shaky beginning, testing out different ideas to see if any broad concepts could draw some inspiration out of me. A cyberpunk space romance, historical fiction comedy set in East Asia, so on and so forth. I’d eventually decided on “Effervescent Gamble: Furtive Adventures in Neo Tokyo”. I’ll be honest and tell you that I’d come up with the title before the concept, and at the moment was going through the tasking process of doing the name justice.
Upon realizing that I’d been sitting and thinking about not being able to think about anything for quite awhile now, I decided to quit writing. Again. Defeated, yet still stirring with my lust for creativity and self-expression, my next course of action was to rise out from my slumped position out of my chair, and subsequently fall face first onto my bed. As I rolled over to examine my ceiling as I often do, I was once again prompted by a sheet of paper taped up there asking a question I’d mulled over many a night: “Should I masturbate?”
I thought this through carefully, eventually coming to the logical conclusion that, since I had no desire to sleep or play video games or go find drugs, the best course of action would indeed be to masturbate. Yet the struggles of a young man such as myself are never so short lived, as I had no material with which to aid my impulses. You see, back in the early 2000’s, I did not have the infinite library of smut, filth and gratification that is instantly available to me today. The family computer was downstairs, and my mother was downstairs. You see the dilemma.
Anyways, my first course of action was to sit back up and crouch down at the bottom of my desk, sliding open the black square drawer containing my magazines and graphic novels. I pulled out all the novels that were especially more graphic than the others, and laid them out on my bed.
I picked up the leftmost one I’d put down after sliding the drawer back closed with my foot. Izuremata’s Muffin Appreciation Club. This copy actually had a signature on the inner cover from the author, which upon opening the book I rediscovered alongside the slip of paper that fluttered out of the pages. I examined the paper.
Main chick’s got huge tits, lots of sexy stuff. Got this signed by the legend himself at L.A., enjoy. ~ Dad
What the fuck. I decided to put the note back and pick up the next book. It was one of my old favorites, Danger Squid Girl 32. I flipped to the folded page and sank into the bed, sliding my sweatpants down to my ankles.
My door flung open, the knob kicking up dust and fragments of drywall as it crashed against the wall. My mom, Eliana stood in the doorway, panting.
I set down the book on my stomach. “I’m looking at porn, what do you want?”
“Keith, there’s been an accident, down the street.” She looked out the window nervously. “Your dad went out earlier, and he hasn’t come back, and…”
“If you’re scared that it’s him, just go yourself already. You’ll have more time to pay your respects that way before they drag him to the station and beat him to death.”
This visibly upset her. “Keith, that’s not how it works, and you know I don’t do well with this sort of thi…” As often happened, she wasn’t able to finish her sentence, the last few words painfully choked with pain and fear, frustrated tears building up behind her innocent amber eyes. Giving up all semblance of authority, she slowly walked over and fell onto my bed, exploding into a fit of rattling sobs.
This made me feel awkward with my Pokemon boxers bulging with the power of my raw, unbridled cock, so I stood up and pulled my pants back up to my waist before sitting back down and offering a confused, reluctant arm around her shoulder. “I’m sure dad isn’t dead, Mom.”
This did not seem to stop her incessant crying.
“Would it make you feel better if I went down the street and checked by myself?”
She collected enough of herself to tone the hysterics down to a helpless whimpering, punctuated by the occasional heavy sob, just long enough to give a simple nod and look of thanks. The facade collapsed immediately as I rose to adorn my silk, velvet bathrobe, adorned in gold on the back with the text “If You’re Reading This, Take Me Now”.
“It’s your dad, alright.” The officer took an apathetic glance at the smouldering wreckage before going back to scribbling in his notepad.
“What?!” You stare into the flames, eyes widening with confusion and disbelief. “How?! Look at it! Have you even checked?!”
He put his notepad into his pocket before turning to face me, leaning against the trunk of the police car. “I mean, I’m not about to just go in and check myself kid, fire is hot.”
“Then how can you know?”
“Keith, come on. There’s like twenty people in town, I checked and all of them are accounted for except your pops. And if we had a visitor,” he he said, pointing his pen at his badge, “I’d have noticed them.”
I cursed the abnormal population density. “I can’t believe it…” I slowly sank to the gravelly street, coming to a rest with my arms around my knees. “I knew my dad would die before I moved out of the house, but… I never thought about how I’d have to actually be there for it.”
“Let me tell you, kid, that really sucks.” He took a sip of his Red Bull and wiped his nose with the mittened hand holding it. “You’re an unlucky boy. My dad died from overdosing on tapeworm tablets while I was fucking a sixty year old prostitute in Indonesia during a college trip. I didn’t even have to deal with the guilt I would have had if cell phones had existed back then, as I would have no doubt received a text or call notifying me of my father’s death either while I was fucking her, or while I was sneaking out of the brothel.”
I ignored his words of comfort, staring deeply into the ember-lit tar of the street, blackened by the ash of the man who never taught me how to play baseball, which I used often to lie to myself that he was the sole reason I never got into sports.
The officer slowly eased off the trunk and crushed the can of Red Bull against his flat forehead, wiping the sugary nectar off his pornstache before tossing the can into the enormous fire, which persisted without anyone seemingly giving a shit. “Well, It’s getting late, it’s about time I was off.”
I finally looked up, catching his retreating gaze. “Wait, you’re leaving? You’re not going to call in anybody to put out the fire, or try and search for clues to make sure nothing weird happened?” I pointed to his coat pocket, rising to my feet. “I saw you writing in that notepad earlier, is that just for show?”
“I’m just the guy that makes sure we don’t have to get insurance involved.” With that word, he turned around and hopped into the driver’s seat before silently drifting away, out of my life forever.
I thundered up the porch steps, every essence of my being brimming with bitter, misguided determination. After flinging the heavy oak door open and storming down the entrance hallway, I turned to walk through the kitchen and sat down in the chair in front of the family computer, entering the password all in one swift motion.
Password123
Without a moment’s hesitation, I dramatically drove the cursor over the closest word processing application, double clicking and immediately doubling down over the keyboard as the document opened up, furiously drumming my sweaty fingers against the keys, the covers for some flying off in fragments as I channeled my overwhelming resentment into every word I recklessly strummed out. My hatred and remorse quickly began to weave an immense, artful tapestry of contempt for everything ever conceived or heard of. The computer began to levitate from the clock speeds of the CPU, struggling to keep up with the rapid output of pure, disgusting rage as I indented paragraph after paragraph of my deepest, darkest true emotions.
After I’d hit the 10,000 word mark after about three minutes, I minimized the window and opened up the web browser, navigating to the first hardcore porn site I could think of and smashing my head into the keyboard, and then clicking on the first thing my headbanging conjured up in the site’s search engine.
My senses were blinded by foul darkness and corruption, I channeled the dark lord himself through my numb lust as I ripped my pants off, gripping my member with the strength of a billion suns as I rubbed myself like a piston on steroids and coke to the senseless kaleidoscope of colors and moaning that my distorted state of mind perceived the smut as. Inside my brain towers collapsed, universes imploded, nebulae died. For that brief moment, I was a god. I looked over my vast domain, effortlessly comprehending and calculating every galaxy I cast my all-knowing gaze over. I witnessed civilizations rise, empires fall. I clipped my toenails and hurled them into the ether, my tremendous, ethereal biceps rippling with holy power. Distant solar systems exploded as I rubbed myself under my billowing toga, crying tears of blood and liquid gold, each droplet creating a universe as they fell to the bottom of the void.
At least, that’s what I felt like should have happened.
I solemnly trudged up the cement stairs, limply gripping the door handle as I pushed into the entrance hallway. I was going to go back up to my room to write some more, but my mother encountered me before I even made it to the staircase.
“What happened, Keithy?” She looked down at me with her innocent, hopeful eyes, soon to be weighed down by the weight of my next sentence. I could barely manage.
“Yeah it’s him. His charred corpse is probably still somewhere in the burning wreckage out there. I doubt they’re going to stomp it out anytime tonight.” Unexpectedly, I began to choke on my words as I struggled to get them out, tears welling in my eyes both from the weight of what I was saying, and the realization that I was in fact my mother’s child. Potent, fermented tears began to stream down my hot cheeks, and I backed against the front door, sliding to a sitting position as my arms went limp at my sides, allowing myself to finally dissipate my supply of all the built up tears from years of anguish and depression.
My keen mother Eliana noticed this, and walked down to the front door, crouching down to my position and ruffling my hair. “There there, Keith. It’s okay, I’m still here.”
This didn’t make me feel much better. In fact, I felt worse upon remembering that my father was actually the parent I liked more, or resented less. In a sudden burst of sad, angry and weirdly sexual passion I launched off down the hallway, pushing my mother aside as I ran up the staircase, going off to sulk and be edgy in my room as I often did. Granted, this time I had a really good reason to do so, which I often use to convince myself that I’m not a terrible person, even though deep down I know that I hated my father almost as much as my mother, and really just hated my entire fucking life in general but was too afraid of pain to just end it all and jam a kitchen knife into my fucking throat and die.

Next Gen Kids and Color Theory
While looking at color theory for fun, I couldn’t help but noticed the colors I picked for the kids and how they match their personalities. Here’s what I mean.
Ashley’s main colors are yellow and orange. Yellow representing optimism and orange representing encouragement. Orange is a mix of both red and yellow, thus giving a exciting, warm and enthusiastic vibe, similar to how Ashley acts. Orange is also the color of an extrovert, Ashley happens to be extroverted. Orange also stimulates appetite, a reference to her love of eating. The downsides of the color orange can however include insincerity, exhibitionism and self indulgence. Ashley is insincere about how she feels, often saying she’s fine when she really isn’t, she doesn’t give attention to herself in an extravagant way but she self indulges herself with food (we can all look to her father Ash Ketchum for that). Meanwhile the color yellow conveys youthful energy, as well as being uplifting and illuminating like the sun. Ashley is energetic, she gives others help by uplifting their spirits. My intentions for Ashley’s color scheme was simply because of how Serena was shown in Florges like clothing and her daughter should be represented in a similar way but with Floette. The shades of orange she would wear would be Peach and Amber, peach encourages great communication and conversation, it fits as she’s an extroverted girl that can talk to anyone, peach inspires good manners and puts people at ease, referencing to Ashley bringing up others when they feel down. Amber inspires greater confidence and better self esteem, she’ll mostly wear that color when she gets more confident or to help her boost her confidence. The color of yellow she’d wear would be Cream as it encourages new ideas, Ashley’s always planning ideas for performances for her Pokemon but the color also indicates a lack of confidence and a need for reassurance, both things Ashley has.
Grey’s main colors are grey, black and white, basically monotone colors which fit his monotone behavior. The color grey is dependable and practical, both traits Grey has as he’s the oldest of the kids and is mostly looked up to for advice or information as well as the most down to earth. As grey is a mix of the colors black and white, it shows how he’s balanced in both traits of the two colors. It also represents his maturity as the color is associated with maturity, however he does display some loneliness, but he’s surrounded by other people with different color clothes, which helps him get out of the dumps. With the color black, he has a mysterious vibe that many girls find attractive, he’s also protective of those he cares about like his cousin Ashley and his sister Katri, but he does hide somethings much like how the color black is used to hide things. The color black is known for being intimidating, unfriendly and unapproachable, traits that Grey has as he is known to be those three things but he also independent and strong, just like the color. As for white, the color represents his encouraging nature to those around him, however he can also be unimaginative, critical and maybe even empty and plain. Grey also keeps things around him neat and efficiently, also keeping to his colors.
Salvia’s main color is simply blue, which represents trust, responsibility, honesty and loyalty. Salvia is someone anyone can trust with anything, despite being the second youngest of the main cast she’s very responsible for things she does. Salvia is also sincere, reserved and quiet, more traits the color blue represents. Whenever someone has an issue dealing with something Salvia is normally the one to point them in the right direction, always helping someone no matter what and if someone were to break her trust she will feel betrayed (which is what happens when she finds out Jessie and James used to be members of Team Rocket) and it will take a while for her to regain the trust she had with her parents but she will forgive them. There are times she’ll be stubborn and refuse to handle change, it took her awhile to accept the fact that her and everyone else were moving to a new region but she grew on Alola very quickly. Her main colors would be sky blue as she is the calmest in the group and is the one to help anyone, azure blue which inspires her determination to achieve great things and dark blue for her responsibility, calm and collected behavior.
Daichi’s main colors are green and brown, which fits him and his team of bug types. The color green is known to be the balance of the heart and the head, with Daichi’s struggle of how he’s handling the divorce of his parents, he had to find balance between knowing how it happened and feeling how it happened. When he isn’t singing his accomplishments, he is very good at observing and listening to everyone’s problems, even his own mother which is what made May become a counselor in the first place. Daichi also loves nature, his friends and his family, which also brings him his love of Bug type Pokemon. He does have a bit of a possessive streak, as when he first met Harley he wasn’t keen on sharing his mom with this new person who was being friendly to his mom. He also can be envious to others, like how he feels about his half sister. From green his main colors would be yellow green as he fears that the divorce was his fault and the conflict he’s still going through, pale green as he is a little immature and youthful, but he will make a fresh start later on and grass green which represents his confidence and security. With brown he can be down to earth when he’s alone or with his close friends, as well as protective and he tries to be as stable as possible. His other main color would be dark brown which is strong but sad and depressive.
Alex probably has the most main colors, those being black, white, purple, pink and blue. I simply chose them because Alex is genderfluid and they would proudly wear their colors for all to see. From the color black they’re secretive, wanting to hide from the world or in their case their feelings and what they choose to be from others, they’re also a little depressed and a little negative. From white, they want to be treated equally and fairly instead of getting special treatment from anyone. They have a creative mind as they know how to play piano and how they create displays for contests, both battling and for showing off. The color purple also symbolizes their career path in being a Pokemon coordinator. The color blue is their masculine side, they have the wisdom from being born in Sinnoh which is the region of mythology and lore, as well as their idealistic side to help them want higher ideals, they’re also very nostalgic, often remembering their past and relating their present and future experience in the past. They would mostly wear pale blue as it inspires creativity (what they need to be a coordinator) and the freedom to break free (from their parents). Pink is the color of their feminine side, they’re sensitive and empathetic, always having a bit of hope and showing Alex that everything will be okay. Pink also shows their girly side a little too much, which can give them a lack of will power and their lack of self worth. The shade of pink they would wear would be orchid as it relates to them doing their own thing.
Chris has probably the most interesting color theme as he, much like Ashley, wears orange, only difference is that he wears more darker shades as oppose to Ashley wearing a lighter shade of orange. Chris represents the more negative side of orange, which is insincere, dependant, overbearing and overly proud. He does have some positive traits like being sociable, an extrovert, agreeable and informal. His main shade would be Dark Orange as it indicates overconfidence and over ambition, as if Chris ever takes a blow to his pride he’ll get upset and will be moody for a good few hours and it’s usual up to Ashley to give him a confidence boost so he can feel better.
Dusk has a color scheme similar to the time of day she was named after, meaning her colors would be orange, magenta and a bit of purple. The color orange stimulates Dusk’s unsocial side as she’s the main introvert of the group, she’s the most insincere, often muttering fake compliments and she’s a very big pessimist. The color of orange she would wear would be Burnt orange as it gives a negative vibration of pride (a trait she got from Dawn), tension (she’s the most tense of the kids) and aggressive self-assertion (when it comes to beating Ashley at something she will try very hard to assert herself to do so). With magenta, Dusk inhabits the negative traits such as being impulsive, impatient, intolerant, feeling disconnected to those around her and she can be very bossy and demanding. Purple is Dusk’s main color, as she prefers to wear that more than she’ll wear orange or pink. From purple, Dusk is someone who likes to be an individual and original, she hates copying others and hates being compared to either of her parents, so she wants to be her own person. She’s also cynical, which is a negative side of the color violet. She would mostly wear deep purple as it’s a powerful color that indicates arrogance and ruthlessness, as she can be a little violent at times.
Sirius’ main colors are indigo and turquoise. From indigo he has a high amount of integrity and sincerity, he’s also faithful to those he’s close to and also very creative which helps him as he’s a coordinator. Sirius also likes to be orderly an have as much structure as he can, he’s inflexible when something isn’t organized be it his appearance or anything around him. Sirius also loves learning about different traditions, which is why he was happy to visit Johto and Alola. A negative from indigo would be how he’s very fearful and tends to try and avoid conflict. With turquoise he’s calm, creative and compassionate. But he’s also over emotional and he’s bad at communicating with others, mostly with his crush Ashley. His main color of turquoise would be aquamarine which calms him down and enhances his creativity.
Natsuko’s main color is purple, mostly lighter shades. Because she’s so young she’s very imaginative, always having her head in the clouds and in her own little fantasy world. Aside from being imaginative, she also has a lot of empathy. Natsuko also likes to be unique, she doesn’t try to copy anything her parents or her older brother does when she tries her coordinating skills on her Pokemon. It also fits with her family as they are notably wealthy and purple is the color of royalty and nobility. But she’s also immature (not surprising as she’s only seven). Her main colors would be lilac as it implies immaturity (as she’s still a child), youthfulness (still just a child), extroverted (which she got from May and Harley), enthusiastic (mostly from Harley), romance (she’s a hopeless romantic, got that from May) and vanity (when she gets older she’ll be very concerned about her appearance). And lavender as it’s a color attracted to beautiful things, which Natsuko is also attracted to but she’s also sensitive and fragile.
Sachihiro’s main colors are blue, white and red, a representation of Ash’s outfits as he was always wearing blue and white with some red with it. From the color blue, Sachihiro is loyal, caring, an idealist and has a lot of integrity but he’s also unforgiving, spiteful and self righteous. Most of those traits he got from his father. He would mostly wear Azure blue as it brings out his determination and ambition to achieve great things. From red he gets his energy boosted, confidence, passionate, determined and courageous. But the negative traits of red can bring out his aggression and quick temper, it also gives him a bit of an appetite at some points. The shade he would wear would be crimson as it has some blue it in, which indicates his determination to succeed without upsetting someone. From white he gets his innocence (due to not knowing the truth about the bad stuff that happened when his parents were younger).
Sachi’s main colors are red, pink and black. Colors that her mother had worn often. Red for Sachi gives her the alertness that her twin brother lacks, she’s also more fearful than her twin brother. But she’s still passionate and energetic like her siblings. The shade she would wear would be scarlet as it is less intense and more fun loving due to the little bit of orange mixed into it, also gives into her enthusiasm. From pink she gets her nurturing nature, sweetness, compassion, affectionate and being naive. But she’s also immature, girlish and has emotional neediness, as well as being physically weak (Ashley and Sachihiro are more physically strong and athletic). Her shade of pink would be rose pink, which is the most feminine and Sachi is the most feminine of her siblings. The color black represents how she’s protective of her brother since he’s more reckless and she’s the one who’s telling him to be careful more than their parents, she also provides comfort to her twin brother when he needs it.
Katri’s colors are two different shades of turquoise. Katri is the clear thinker of the kids, she’s also the calmest and helps calm down her big brother and her older cousin when they need their energy restored. Despite being unable to talk she as great communication skills (she uses signs to talk), she’s compassionate and creative, often seen drawing or writing. She’s also very observant, always thinking what’s the best course of action, she also boosts the confidence of others around her. However she’s very aloof and doesn’t show much emotion. She does get bored when doing only one thing at a time and often multitasks. The shades she would wear would be aqua as it’s refreshing and uplifting, creative and light hearted and gives her her individuality. Aquamarine which enhances her creativity and inspiration from the aqua she wears, it also calms and balances the mind and her emotions. The last one is teal, it gives her a big of sophistication, it also gives off her trustworthiness and reliability that she proves often.
My characters unintentionally match the colors they were given. The information I used is from this site. https://www.empower-yourself-with-color-psychology.com/meaning-of-colors.html
