notice me
james potter x female!reader
summary: all you ever wanted was to be noticed by james potter.
word count: 1k
warning: none, all fluff and angst
Notice me.
Two words you wished James Potter would do. Two words that you said every day as if they were a wish that took an eternity to become true.
Being Remus's little sister wasn't bad, it's not like you were in his shadow or didn't have any sort of social status. It was just that you didn't have a chance of being with James.
Every single time that you tried interacting with him, he would take it as an opportunity to call you 'champ' or even nuzzle your hair with his first.
It was tragic.
What made it worse was that every single girl was all over him and you had to see. I mean it didn't always sting when you knew that were just random girls but when it came to Lily Evans, that broke your heart.
But this year was going to be different in multiple ways. Remus had let it slip that James didn't like Lily anymore and it was a new year, you were only a year below them and you deserved this.
You could convince him that Remus wouldn't care and it would be fine to be together.
After letting your friends encourage you and make your confidence rise to a hundred, you chose to just do it.
Just ask him out.
If he said no, it would be fine and you could somehow recover maybe.
There were multiple thoughts going through your head as you approached the Marauders during break.
That's when your heart starting beating and you couldn't even move due to overthinking.
Remus looked at you, the rest of them being used to your presence, "Hello Y/n?" Remus said, waving his hand in front of your face as you snapped out of it.
"Yeah sorry." You muttered.
"Did you need something or did Mother send a letter?" He asked you as you shook your head no, "What is it then?" He asked, confusingly.
"I need to speak with James." You said, loud enough for all the Marauders to hear. They all looked at you with a sense of confusion because they had never see you and James even interact.
"About what?" Remus practically whispered.
"Yeah about what Y/n?" Sirius asked, smirking.
Although you weren't that close with Sirius, he would taunt you about it, you knew that he knew but you never dared to say a word.
"Is this like an inside joke?" Peter asked, genuinely confused.
"None of your business." You looked at both Sirius and Remus sternly.
Remus gave you a 'what' look as James moved towards you with his hands in his pockets, "Okay, anything for Remus's little sister." He gave you a wink as Remus rolled his eyes and Sirius watched amusingly.
You heart was practically jumping out of your chest at this point as James waited for you to speak, "I meant in private."
He raised an eyebrow, "Uh okay sure." He said, scratching the back of his head as Sirius snickered and Remus was asking him what was so funny.
James followed you to an abandoned corridor as you halted nervously and he stopped right behind you. You turned around to see him confused.
"Okay, I'm gonna tell you something and you promise not to say anything until I'm finished?" You said, speeding through your words.
"I mean of course, is there something wr-" He asked before being cut off.
"I like you." You admitted as he looked like he had swallowed a Puking Pastie, "I mean I have liked you for a long, long time and I never wanted to tell you because Remus is your best friend and I am his little sister. I wanted to tell you but you liked Lily and I know you might consider me a child but I really, really do adore you and just want you to see me more as Remus's little sister." You nervously explained, "I know that this may come off as surprising but I just want you to get to know me and give me the chance to be more."
He frowned.
'No, no, don't break my heart.' You thought, your eyes pleading with him.
"I think you are absolutely amazing Y/n but-" He started.
"Please don't, please don't tell me I'm amazing and then reject me as if I haven't loved you all this time. I just want a chance to prove it to you and this may seem like begging but I am and I am begging you to give me a chance." You pleaded.
"I wish I could tell you that I love you but I don't feel that way about you and I don't want to upset you at all, you are lovely but you are not what I want." He explained.
"What's wrong with me?" You said as your eyes watered.
"There is absolutely nothing wrong with you Y/n, I just can't see you in the way that you want me to." He said sadly, "There will be a man for you and unfortunately, I am not him and you can do better than me."
"There is no better than you." You admitted.
He held onto your hand, “There is better than me,” He tried convincing, “I don’t want to hurt you in any way and I don’t want to lead you on, you don’t deserve that.”
A tear rolled down your cheek, it may have seemed stupid but you did love James. All you ever wanted to do was step out from the curtains and be with him.
"Do you remember when you were sick with that god-awful flu, and you had no sense of time and just laid in your bed the entire time?" You sniffled, laughing a little, "And then Remus gave you that amazing soup, and the next day, you were magically better. I gave him that, and I skipped all my studying for OWLS to craft the potion just so that you didn't have to deal with it anymore."
"Or when you broke your leg because of Quidditch and you were in there for a week, I stayed with you while you slept until you woke up and did all your homework and made Sirius say it was him even though you didn't believe him." You laughed at the last part through your sobs.
He looked at you with sympathetic eyes as you took your hand back, "Well it's fine 'cause that doesn't matter now, all of that is meaningless now."
"It's not meaning-" James tried.
The bell rang as you wiped your tears, "Well I guess I'll see you later then, don't wanna be late to Astronomy." You said, moving past him.
Well, at least James finally noticed you.

Curious Time - Lando Norris
Lando Norris x Singer!reader
Multiple part series where their friendship was easy, their feelings were confusing and the distance was the hardest <3
(3rd person perspective)
PART 2 -
DON’T TELL ‘EM
“Don’t you worry ‘bout him, I gon’ work it out”
Restraunts turned to bars and bars meant drinks upon drinks.
Y/n enjoys a glass or two, she enjoyed the buzz and the heightened confidence. But girls night was never just one or two. Pietra was the only taken girl of the group which also meant men. The other girls loved the attention, as did y/n from afar but as soon as someone would approach she would shut them down.
She wasn't sure what it was in her that made her do this. She would love a boyfriend and she was extremely lonely at times. Maybe it was the gravity of her job never knowing where she would be. She always put her career first. She got this from her mother watching her struggle day and night as a single parent watching her work multiple jobs just to keep a roof over her head. This work ethic was installed in y/n, and once she started earning it was addicting. There was nothing she enjoying more than being able to repay her mum for the hard work, and to do that work came first.
It wasn't until Pietra and her became closer she really began to live life. She was so grateful for that as before her she never really felt able to have fun.
Pietras friend, Tilde squeals as she hurries over, throwing her arms around her friends shoulders. "There's someone who wants to meet you!" Grabbing her arm by force pulling her across the dance floor.
She hold her drink out as a cosmo cocktail coloured dress would simply ruin her night. She's pulled towards P and a couple guys who look not at all familiar but Pietra seemed comfortable so she felt somewhat more relaxed.
Pietra yells over the noise "These are some guys that raced with Max back in the day! Guys this is y/n” They all chorus ‘hello’.
Tilde pulls you across her placing you next to the tallest boy in the group, she whispers in your ear. "He's interested”
She's flattered but the blonde male is just not her type. She appreciates his rugby build and his slicked back blonde hair, but he wouldn't have her falling to her knees. Although her starring may have been misperceived by the man. As he asks her, "y/n would you like another drink?"
She almost protests but it would seem unusual as her glass was now empty. "Sure." She smiles, following him back through the crowd. It's a free drink after all.
He orders her a cosmo and himself some whiskey mix, she wasn't all that focused nor that interested.
"So y/n/n," the nickname catches her attention only Lando calls her that, “what do you do?" He questions, he had no ill intent but she hated those who nicknamed her without the right.
"Um it's y/n. I'm a writer of sorts." She always feels uncomfortable telling her true profession she's never sure if people's intentions if they know who she is or not.
"Not a nickname girl, I apologise. What are you doing in Monaco do you live here? Maybe we could hang out sometime if you do?"
Very forward, she thinks. "I don't live here I'm visiting a friend before he's off travelling again. I won't be here long enough to meet up I'm sorry." A polite rejection, which he takes well luckily.
"Absolutely fine. Maybe I could get your number anyway? Just incase you're ever back not visiting your friend?" He's optimistic a smile adorning his face.
Ive kicked him down a few times now, so she gives him her phone, looking across the floor to see Pietra looking for her.
'Peter' followed by the muscle emojis. She laughs in her head, humble she thinks.
"Well Peter, it was nice meeting you. I think I best get my friend home now." She smiles as P has staggered towards her yelling loving words in her ears. Y/n is the worlds bestest friend, apparently.
Please pick me up. P is off her face, could we stop at the hotel? No Uber will take her in this state xxxxxx
I'll need an address to do that.
*Location sent*
On my way, 10 minutes maximum.
Lando could tell she was intoxicated by the influx of kisses at the end of her messages. He hoped not too much that she could still help him get Pietra into the car.
He pulled up outside the bar, P hung over y/n’s shoulder both of their heels laced over her fingers. Both girls wobbling at the weight of each other.
"Y/n/n can you walk?" He questions walking over to the girls.
Her eyebrows raise, "of course I can walk, been walking for 23 years." She slurs slightly, that final cosmo catching up to her.
"You know what I mean." He slides an arm under Pietra, the evidently more intoxicated of the two, y/n stumbling ever so slightly behind.
Pietra placed in the back a bag over her lap just in case. Y/n slides into the front, Lando leaves no time wasted as he sets off.
"Message Max, tell him we'll be 15, in the nicest way possible i can't hang around I've got an early morning." Lando states, clearly tired, rubbing his eyes as they reach traffic lights.
Y/n feels guilty forcing him out of bed at this hour, but even if she cancelled her lift he'd still turn up before any Uber did. She grabs the charger before messaging Max her phone automatically connecting to the screen play.
As she's messaging him, a ding chimes through the car.
Peter 💪🏽💪🏽
Y/n, lovely to meet you let me know when you're back in Monaco without your friend.
She knows he's read it, he doesn't say anything. His face unreadable.
"I've messaged Max, he's waiting outside"
They pull up outside the hotel, giggling softly in her seat watching her friend whine and complain to him instead of them. As Max and Pietra walk away Lando shouts “good luck!” out the car window before pulling away.
The air is strange in the car, not awkward, just not them. Y/n decides this is the best time to shuffle her party playlist, "Dont tell 'em' by Jeremiah blast through the sound system.
"Y/n," Lando questions, "Seriously?" His hand darting forward to turn it down. She grabs his ring clad hand pulling it into her using it as a microphone. A small smile creeps onto his face as he shakes his head.
"For a good singer your talent is really shining through right now." He smirks as she yells the lyrics into his hand. The song draws to and end in perfect timing as Lando backs into the garage.
He follows a stumbling y/n up the stairs, to which she makes a b-line for his bedroom instead of the spare room she had made her own. She sits on the end of the bed a pout on her face as lando hasn't yet joined her.
He comes in with water and paracetamol, to which she'll probably need in the morning. "Staying in here tonight then?" He questions all ready knowing the answer. He slips off the t shirt he's wearing throwing it in her lap before she even asks.
She slips off her dress, forgetting his in the room and asking him to turn around like she usually does. He looks away quickly, not before catching a glimpse of her nearly bare body.
Her legs the only thing on show now as she's slipped into his tee. She pads on to his en-suite where a small draw of her things resides, not being motivated or sober enough for her usual routine, she opts for make up wipes, to which her skin won't thank her for in the morning.
Lando already in bed curled up on his side, pats the space next to him. She instantly takes little spoon position. They don't fall asleep together often, another unspoken boundary between the two, but when they do, God did they fit together perfectly.
She inhales, partially out of contentment partially due to Lando's scent lingering on the t shirt she's sporting.
It's silent between the two, their breathing both becoming more and more shallow as they drift off. Y/n almost fully asleep now head Lando clear his throat, "Who is Peter?" He questions quietly, she almost wasn't sure she heard him right. To which she drunkenly replies,
"He's not you."

[ID: Block of text that reads: "It finally happened! The day that we received a package from Breen was the best day since the pandemic started. The slim package that arrived in our mailbox was like a little slice of heaven sent to us from above. A simple mailer that held the truth of which we sought. Cinema. Kino. Joy. I looked at the package, my brow sweating with anticipation. I pursed my lips as I often do in the delicious moments before sipping an ice cold beer. This was just as good. Maybe better. The mailer was that of a simple man. It wasn't a fancy mailer. It wasn't padded nor did it have a design on it. In fact, the mailer the DVD arrived in was a cut up cereal box held together with duct tape. I smiled and whispered to myself, "That's the cup of a carpenter…". It was here. We received the new Neil Breen film. Was this a Blu-ray? No. This was a DVD-R burned on a computer. I smelled the disc and the jewel case. It smelled like 2003. I cried at the beauty of the whole embarrassing ordeal. It was like a hug from an old friend who had long since passed. A friend you never wanted to see again or allow to hug you. In my hand I held the new Neil Breen film. I couldn't wait to show the guys! I called Colin from Canada and told him to run to RLM HQ right quick to watch the film with us. He said, "oh, I've already seen it. It's terrible." And I called him a poutine-slurping, caesar-sipping canuck fuck and told him to get down here to Wisconsin right quick. He responded by saying, "I've got work and I'm watching my elderly neighbors diabetic cats and…" I just cut him off. I said, "Look you fucking prick, I have it. Let's watch it!" So he did come down, albeit unwillingly. What are Neil Breen films? They are moopies made by a man who is the weirdest man to ever live. He's the perfect oblivious filmmaker. Never getting better or evolving, only getting worse and more lazy and more old and more grandpa jeans. Neil Breen's films are always about a loner man that has special skills or knowledge above all other humans. There is often a babe involved in his films, although the sexuality is awkwardly placed and seems forced. The women usually look incredibly uncomfortable at the notion of being in love or even attracted to Neil Breen. Likewise, any romance on his part seems obligatory. I guess the thought is that a movie needs "romance" so he must add "romance" But he's no James Bond! Since this was Breen, we assumed this was worthy of a Best of the Worst Spotlight" episode. It couldn't simply be lumped into a regular three movie episode. Boy, were we fucking wrong. This pile of trash couldn't have been more disappointing. Breen has gone too far this time with the green screens! Who does he think he is!?! Peter Jackson? George Lucas? James Cameron?!? I mean, sure you can use a green screen sometimes… if you're making a fucking Avengers movie!!! But come on! Literally every background, outdoor location, and room is a stock image. A flat shot without movement. I can say that at the very least in some shots he created a foreground mask to make characters integrated into the frame by putting them behind objects, but really? While the story sucks, the acting is bad, it's boring and shitty, it's still a Neil Breen film and we have to love it as if it was our own cross-eyed inbred baby with no limbs.
Anyways, while I have you here, I own a timeshare in the Cayman Islands. It's in a nice part of town, but it's basically a 1.6 million dollar shack. One of the owners killed himself recently and now I'm stuck with paying his part due to a legal snafu. I don't quite understand it, but my lawyer Phillip Gorlon (no relation) tells me it'll cost me more in legal fees to get out of this timeshare than to just keep it. I tells him that I'm strapped for cash at the moment, what with the cost of eggs, covid tests, etc.. so my question to you is: Do you think Neil Breen might want to shoot his next film in the Cayman Islands? There's lots of beach (of course) some very interesting shooting locations and a lovely Indian restaurant called Southern Spice that has agreed to do catering, I can lease my place for $42,000 a day and his next film can be called "Island Crossing: Cade's Offshore Bank Account Scam" and it'll be a rip-roaring island adventure film about a man who travels to the Cayman Islands to find his lost love, but discovers corruption and injustice and fights for the people with the help of the A.I. chip in his brain. Best thing is if Breen did a Kickstarter for…. Let's say 1.6 million that could also cover what I'd charge in "insurance" for him to shoot in my Cayman Islands palatial estate. Just throwing that out there. I think the film would come out amazing and there's be very little green screen. But there's be lots of green for me if you know what I mean! Then I can finally dump this shitty timeshare property after stupid Rolando put a shotgun in his mouth. What a fucker. I mean, whose wife ISN'T having an affair in today's economy! - Krebs Gorlon." Teen Wolf Fic Recs Part 2: Steter
It took me quite awhile to gather all these together, so please enjoy discovering more parts to the incredible world of Teen Wolf, provided to you by the wonderful writers of our fandom.
Leave comments and kudos for these writers if you can, they really deserve it, they're wonderful. And it's my honour to try and share their creations with tumblr.
These are Steter, Stiles Stilinski/Peter Hale fanfictions. Read them at your will. Check the tags on the actual fics for warnings and such.
I have included links to authors that write a lot of Steter as well, and some of their fics for examples. I'm sorry this post got so long, haha, but enjoy the stories, they're worth it.
If any of the links don't work, just comment and I'll fix it.
Check out my other Sterek fic recs [Part 3] and [Part 4] and Steter fic recs [Part 1]

Broken Bones and Broken Bonds by twothumbsandnostakeincanon(somanyofthekids) on Archive of Our Own
Words: 20148
Chapters: 4/?
Summary:
Stiles kind of wished that he’d at least tried weed before this.
Or something, you know? Maybe taken up a graffiti hobby, or even just skateboarded in front of City Hall often enough to get a citation.
He wished he’d done something to be deserving of the looks people gave him now, rather than just being the recipient of his dead father’s unused power.

He needs people.

Blood Runs Cold by Smalls2233 on Archive of Our Own
Words: 111408
Chapters: 22/22
Summary:
“So then why are we letting Scott and Derek search for it if you know it's useless?”
Peter looked down at Stiles and cocked his head with a grin. “Because I think seeing my nephew and your best friend run around like headless chickens while I think up a plan is hysterical.”
“And the plan is…?”
----
Trusting Peter Hale is something that Stiles had repeatedly told himself to never do. He had seen first hand the results of Peter's plans and schemes, but when a shadow began tormenting Beacon Hills, he found that sometimes he'd have to to play along with Peter's games.
This story does include a dose of Chris&Stiles interaction about midway and carries on throughout, and then Chris/Peter towards the midend, which also carries on. And it kind of dissolves into Chris/Peter/Stiles. If that's not your taste, that's fine, because the majority of the story is Stiles/Peter, and that majority is really really good Steter.

No One Listening Tonight by Smalls2233
Words: 6985
Chapters: 1/1
Summary:
That left… well it left Peter and only Peter. Relying on Peter for help was only slightly better than stabbing himself through the eye with a hot poker. But desperate times called for desperate measures.
Of course, there was always the option of packing up and letting whatever was trying to destroy the town succeed this time. Stiles snorted under his breath as he thought about how that would probably leave him with fewer injuries than dealing with Peter would. But unfortunately, that wasn’t an option. Stiles knew he needed to head downtown to Peter’s apartment and pray the man was willing to work with him.
----
Stiles stumbles into a magical trap forged by a wannabe warlock.

Author: Smalls2233

Blue by Wynnebat on Archive of Our Own

Summary:
Derek brings both Scott and Stiles to the hospital to prove a point about hunters, but Stiles isn’t sure the point he’s getting is the point Derek’s trying to make. Especially when his black and white world explodes into color the moment he looks into Peter Hale’s eyes.
*********
The Long Way Around by Wynnebat on Archive of Our Own
Words: 15569
Chapters: 3/3

Author:

This author writes some really intense, interesting stories about Peter and Stiles. Not as long as some fics are, but they're really good adaptions of Steter with a lot of feeling.
**********
The Striking Complication by aurevell on Archive of Our Own
Words: 27235
Chapters: 4/15
Summary:
The smile slips off Stiles’s face. “Hey, um. Why am I here?” he asks, voice unsteady. “I’m—I have this weird feeling like I shouldn’t leave you. I’ve felt all day like...” He can’t finish the thought.
Peter looks as surprised as Stiles feels. A strange expression passes over his face, there and gone before Stiles can decipher it.
Stiles snaps awake each morning with the sense that he’s missing something. Weirder still, he can’t wrap his head around his sudden, inexplicable trust in Peter Hale, who seems to know way more than he’s letting on. Nor can he guess why a half-remembered nightmare seems to haunt his every move.
Rinse and repeat. Because time loops suck, apparently.

This author has 11 Teen Wolf fics under their belt. 5 Sterek and 6 Steter. Happy rummaging!

the teeth right down to the blood by sazzafraz on Archive of Our Own
Words: 2133
Chapters: 1/1
Summary:
‘We’re pretty fucked right now.’ Scott says. Stiles doesn’t speak but there’s something singing in his bones that says Scott got the message anyway. (In which both are bit and things are gruesome.)
This has a sprinkling of Scott/Stiles, Scott/Stiles/Peter, and Scott/Allison as well as Steter, but it's worth the read, a good story with an interesting concept.
*********
Author: sazzafraz
This author doesn't have that many Steter stories, although they do have a few. Although they do have some pretty lengthy Teen Wolf fics about other characters of the show.

1. Peter summons demon to the circle.
2. Demon remains in said circle until Peter outlines their contract.
3. Demon agrees to elegantly crafted contract, becoming loyally bound to Peter and Peter alone.
Instead, the creature steps casually out of the circle, tosses its things onto the leather sofa, and starts immediately meddling in Peter’s immaculate space, touching all of Peter’s very expensive things.

It's only by midmorning_bomb on Archive of Our Own
Words: 2905
Chapters: 3/5
Part 2 of the Aranea & Babewolf series
Summary:
“Darling, please don’t pout.”
“You’re pouting.” Stiles pouts, from the upper corner of the library, everything from his hip bones down an angry mass of hissing fangs and venomous chelicerae. “Why would we ever go back to that garbage town? Everyone there is the worst, the only good thing is the very rad and awesome curse I laid.”

You are a memory by midmorning_bomb on Archive of Our Own
Words: 900
Chapters: 1/1
Part 2 of the Little glimpse series
Summary:
If he has to bleed to breathe warmth back into Peter’s icy body, he will.
Because Peter’s done the same for him.
********
Author: midmorning_bomb
This author has 16 Steter fics. A little unfriendly to some of the other characters, but it's only kind of obvious because it's not subtle about it, and not exactly underserved. Has some really interesting ideas as well as some kind, well developed Steter. Definitely have a read through.

Part I | Part II | Part III | Part IV | Part V |  Part VI | Part VII | Part VIII
________
You didn't know what else to say, feeling ashamed. Who cared about your family circumstances? Definitely not Steve Rogers, a man you met just a couple of weeks ago and who knew nothing about you. Why did you say something like that in the first place?
You didn't wanna look at his face and see him feeling guilty because he didn't know how to comfort you. You didn't need to be comforted. You didn't need anything at all. It was just a simple cold, right?
Despite that, you suddenly started talking from beneath your blankets, "I have a younger brother. When he was born, we found out he was having severe asthma. His childhood was terrible, he had constantly been sick, I remember him being in and out the hospital all the time. Of course, because of his condition, my parents spent most of the time with him. He was just a little sick kid."
You hated yourself for talking, for showing something to Steve he shouldn't have known because he wasn't your friend, but you couldn't force yourself to stop.
"On the other hand, I am lucky to have good health. I didn't really got very sick, so, well, I didn't need help like my brother. So, I'm used to taking of myself. I'm a big girl, I don't need my mom to dance around me just because I have a cold."
Of course, you didn’t. You were perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, and even of Steve didn't show up, you'd be alright by yourself. You'd just take your acetaminophen, and then everything would be ok.
You kept silent, staring at the inside of the blanket and wishing Steve would just disappear, leaving you to your misery. You didn’t see his face, and you were glad you didn't. What he must think about you? That you were craving for his attention like a spoiled kid? Shit, it was so embarrassing. You were an adult, for goodness sake!
"I don't know about you, but when I had a flu sachet, it would make me fall asleep really quick. And when I was feeling sleepy, I would start thinking about the things I loved most because I hoped I would see them in a dream." Instead of feeling ever more ashamed, you listened to Steve's soft voice and thought you were lucky it was him being here with you now. "It actually worked, and I have been having my best dreams when I was asleep, sick. What are the things you love most?"
Surprised, you looked up at him and saw the most gentle expression on a face of a guy you had ever met. Why did he look at you like that? Why was there no pity on his face? Why was it making you cry like you were a ten year old kid? Before he could see anything, you hid beneath the blanket again and kept silent for a couple of moments to calm down.
"I love lemon pies my grandma used to make me, and her garden. She had tomatoes and cabbage and strawberries that smelled like summer. I loved watering them nearly every day because I thought I was a little forest witch who lived in her pretty cottage in the woods."
You didn't know why you were telling him this, but Steve has a strange effect on you. Or was it cold? You had no idea, but it didn’t really matter. All you were thinking about was the way fresh tomatoes smell when you'd leaned down to water them, and the sound of bees flying above strawberry's flowers. Your grandma was taking care of her cabbage - a very capricious guest in her garden - and you could hear her working, cursing grandpa for making the patches too wide in that funny voice of hers. Then she'd stood up, wiped the sweat with the back of her hand, and called you to come back to the cottage because if was time for dinner. You'd run to wash your hands in a barrel of water near the big apple tree when grandma didn't see, and soon you were sitting with her, eating her famous cabbage soup and then having a piece of a lemon pie because you worked so well today.
You could almost feel the taste on the tip of your tongue.
By the time you woke up, Steve was long gone: it was the middle of the night, and instead of him you saw a thermos with a still warm chicken soup on a chair, waiting for you. He sent you a message that you could call him at any time of the day - or night - and that he wanted you to have a bit more sleep to get better. After you had a few more sips of his soup, you fell asleep again, feeling warm and fuzzy.
_______
The weekend went fast. It was the first time in several years you spent so much time in bed. Steve kept appearing at your door from time to time with a new bags of food despite you telling him you had your own, but he always insisted you should it something fresh and warm. Surprisingly, he wasn't the only one at your door: Thor suddenly showed up with his whole team, bringing you notes for the upcoming exams they collected altogether, apparently. Loki sent you a message if you needed anything, and Peter left contacted you on Instagram, leaving you links to games you could play so you wouldn't feel bored. Even Bucky gave you a call, asking if he could come and give you a few packs of Neo Citran for your cold, but you kindly refused: Steve literally brought you a yearly supply of this.
It was strange. Of course, when you were in high school, your friends grew worried about you when you had been sick, but there was nothing else to it. Wasn't it always like this? Nobody came to see you. Nobody brought you soup or gave you meds or anything. Despite feeling embarrassed, you realized you actually liked it when somebody was close to you like that. It was comforting seeing Steve popping up and not having to worry about how pretty you looked: he laughed when he saw you getting all shy because you were in your pyjamas. He said he definitely didn't expect you laying on your bed in an evening gown.
Before you realized it, you were already getting better. It was just a cold, really. Soon your throat was no longer sore, and while you were still sneezing, your temperature dropped down to normal, so on Monday you were ready to come back to school as planned. Funny enough, you no longer cared if you passed your exams, having 100%. You didn’t talk about it with Steve, but Peter was laughing like crazy about that when you told him.
Funny. They no longer looked so scary to you. They were just a couple of boys, weren't they? Regardless all those scary rumors and stuff, they were just guys. Maybe they were weird and stupid and a little bit scary because you didn't know them, they were still alright. Thor said it to you, didn't he?
Monday was Bucky's day, so, once you were done dressing, he nocked at your door: you were feeling a bit shy, watching him in that leather jacket and torn jeans he kept wearing the whole year around, apparently. Barnes looked like a teenage girl's dream. He smelled like cigarettes - although he said he was trying to quit - and pinewood. Just like Thor, he liked to skip classes he didn't enjoy much, but he was smart enough to pass the exams. Funny enough, he had a motorcycle.
Again, you wondered how come girls weren't coming from a city on a bus just to go see him.
"Are you sure you’re feeling better?" He asked you softly. "You can stay home today."
"No, no, I'm perfectly alright, thank you! How are you?" Smiling, you closed the door and hid the key in your bag.
"I'm good, thank you."
He didn't speak much, but as you walked in silence, you thought it was comforting - not talking at all and feeling good about it. While Bucky looked like a scary biker, in fact, his calm and friendly demeanor only helped you relax around him. Besides, it was funny how students seemed to give him way whenever they saw him, and you thought if Steve was the King, then Bucky was the Knight.
Before you went into the your classroom, he suddenly stopped you, "Listen, I wanted to say I have your stuff."
You blinked, "What stuff?"
You didn't give him any of your stuff. Actually, after Steve gathered you all in the student council room, you only met Bucky this morning for the first time.
"The stuff those freaks took. Your... your clothes, I mean." He muttered under his breath, and you gaped at him.
Your underwear. He found your bra and panties those guys took from your room.
"Wait... how?" Staring at Bucky who, apparently, was feeling a bit embarrassed talking about it, you thought how on Earth he got those things.
There was only one way he could, right?
"Bucky, was it you who beat those guys?"
It took him a couple of seconds to turn his face to you and then sigh, "Yes, it was me."

Afterglow (A Bucky Barnes AU fan fiction) - Chapter 19
Tumblr media
Afterglow chapters
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x reader
CHAPTER NINETEEN
The atmosphere changed in a snap. Everyone had felt it, except Peter.
Peter's early arrival had you all floored, especially you and Bucky. Oblivious to Peter, you were both dumbfounded, like deer caught in headlights. But this wasn't the best time to process what was going to happen next. You had to think off your feet. Yoy had to show Peter that there was no more than surprise in your faces.
Peter was finally here. That's what matters right now.
The instrumentals of Hungry Eyes kept playing in the background. Bucky's microphone created a feedback sound once he let it rest on his sides, making you all wince. Peter ditched his bags (which magically doubled), and strode towards you, engulfing you in a hug. Although he reeked of damp, mossy grass, and wood, you hugged him back.
"I got in early! How great is that?" He greeted you with enthusiasm laced in his voice. "Oh god, I've missed you, y/n!" He said into your ear.
The rest of the group, laid back on their comfortable seats, watched the whole thing unfold in front of their very eyes. You’d definitely pay to see Nat's look on her face right now.
"Yeah, you did!" you patted his back before pulling away, giving him the best smile you could do. "I've missed you, too. Welcome back, Parker. It's been quite a damn week without you."
Bucky was solid as a rock before Peter moved towards his spot (Bucky gave me a quick glance and a wry smile which you then returned; afterwards, you bit your lip looking at the exchange between the two) and hugged him tight as they exchanged their formalities. "It's nice to have you back, Peter."
"It is nice to be back." Peter replied, pulling away. "Whew, that one week went by real slow, huh? Feels like ages!"
"Yeah." Bucky glanced at you one more time. This time, it was longer. "No kidding."
"Alright everyone, it's nice to see you all together."
The group mumbled agreeably.
"Sam," Peter acknowledged, doing his signature finger gun pointed towards him, "I don't even know why you're here but I will as soon as I take a quick shower right upstairs and get these bags sorted out."
"You might want to take a long one there, buddy." Sam breathed out, fanning the air. "You smell like a caveman."
"Sam." You scolded, shaking your head.
"Yes, babydoll?" He jeered, which you and Bucky didn't like.
Most especially Bucky.
And Peter as well.
You gave Sam a look, hidden from Peter's view, of course, careful not to raise any kind of suspicion. But boy, was Sam giving you and Bucky a hard time. The group knew why he called you that, of course. But not Peter.
"Babydoll?" Peter repeated, a confused expression crossing his face as he turned towards you. "Why is he calling you that ridiculous nickname?"
Peter had always hated when men called you, as he put it, "ridiculous" nickname. You knew if he could punch them all, he would but because of Steve's number one rule (no fighting in the bar), he couldn't. It all started ever since you worked in the bar. You weren’t getting much attention when you were a waitress but you guess, when men see a woman behind the counter making their drinks, apparently, they think you’re easy, and naive, and would fall for their "charm" by calling you nicknames. One minute you’re "darling", the next you’re "doll" or "baby" or, the worst of them all, "mon chéri."
God, did men really think women would be turned on by a French nickname with a horrendous French accent? Perhaps, the idiots do.
You suddenly wondered if Peter felt the same.
"He's just kidding." You mumbled, taking him away from the group. "You know how Sam is."
You started to lead him further towards the door where his bags were.
"I know how he is, y/n." He grew more agitated now, triggered by what Sam had called you. "I've known him longer than you. Okay, what on earth is going on here?" Peter turned around once more, facing them all. His hands were all over the place. Exaggerated gestures that furthered his confused state. "What happened in that one week I was gone? Jeez."
"Hey." You made Peter focus his attention back towards you by grabbing him by the shoulders. By this time, the instrumentals on the karaoke machine were gone. "We get that you're really confused right now and you're tired so why don't you go and take a shower. The night is still young, Parker. I promise we'll tell you everything the second you come back here."
Of course, not everything.
The dead air whistled around, which you hated. He glanced at the group, who was waiting for a response. Their eyes were all on you and Peter. He finally let out a sigh, his shoulders slumped. "Yeah, you're right. Sorry, it's just been kind of a long drive."
With that, Peter scurried towards the apartment to set down his bags and take a shower. He left a trace of awkwardness in the air once he left.
"Is it just me," Nat started as you walked towards the booth, "or did he grow taller? Did he go to, like, a magic place or something?" Everyone looked at her with knitted brows. "Jesus, I'm just lightening up the mood." She said, hands raised up.
You strode towards Sam, a rush of heat climbing its way towards your face. "Seriously? You had to call me that?"
Sam chuckled nervously, eyes flickering between you and his best friend. "I-it was just a joke! I didn't know he'd take it seriously. And helloooo," he said in a singsong voice, dragging the o, "I'm drunk."
"Being drunk isn't an excuse. It should never be." Bucky said, leaning against the booth. He stood with much authority which you found enticing. But you digressed. "You still shouldn't have said it."
"And besides," you chimed in, "Parker hates it when people give me nicknames."
"Alright. I am sorry." He said. His eyes examined you and Bucky. "But how do you think he's going to react when he finds out his favorite person in the world is calling his best friend babydoll in bed?"
You were dumbstruck. Like it was some kind of question in a trivia game you didn't know the answer to. You couldn't think straight hearing the fries grinding in Nat's teeth, probably enjoying the drama unfolding in front of her eyes, Steve's fingers tapping on the wooden table and Nick's fast breathing.
You took a deep breath, and tried hard to ignore all these annoying sounds.
Sam was right. If Peter's reaction to the nickname was already bad, what more if he knew about the truth between you and Bucky? How could he possibly react to it?
"Look." You said, approaching Bucky, and grabbing his pinky with yours. For comfort. "We're still not ready to tell him but we will."
"Yes, soon." Bucky agreed.
"We're just finding the right time."
The truth was, you weren't any close to finding the "the right time." You had been racking our brains since last night on when to tell him. After setting on the when, then you’d move to the next phase of the plan which was how. Now that Peter had come back, you knew you needed to think and act fast before he found out about you and Bucky from other people.
"In the meantime," you said, grabbing your phone and finding Marco's name on my contact list, "let's just enjoy this party as it is. Steve threw this party for a reason and we are going to enjoy it. With or without Peter. No blabbing or hinting — yes I'm talking about you, Sam — about me and Bucky. No nicknames, no references. Nothing."
"You're asking all of us to keep your dirty little secret?" Nick asked. "While we're all drunk?"
"You and Sam are." Bucky chimed in, grabbing their beer bottles. "Steve and Nat aren't so I'm keeping a close eye on you two." He turned towards you, faces close in proximity, and gave you the bottles to stow away. "No more drinks for those two idiots."
Youbnodded and took the beers away from Sam and Nick which earned yoy a couple glares. Nick pouted afterwards like a baby, eyeing the beer bottles in your hand. "No, Nick. I'm cutting you off."
"Take his, not mine!" Nick whined, tilting his head towards Sam. "I didn't blab. This idiot did."
"I don't like your tone, man." Sam argued, mimicking Nick's state.
"One more drink and you'll blab. And please stop acting like kids." you sighed, walking towards the counter, stowing the beer bottles in their cases. Ypunlooked on your phone once again, called Marco and ordered three large pizza boxes — pepperoni, meat, and cheese pizza. All of Peter's favorites.
By the time the phone call ended, Bucky approached you with soft, doe-like eyes. The group resumed singing, Sam and Nick once again hogging the machine, clearly not taking your advice. Sam kept yelling at him to "cut the check!"
"How're you feeling, doll?" He asked, going under the pass through.
"Well, it's now a surprise party." You heaved a sigh, turning around to find a drink with much more of a kick to get you through the night. Your eyes found an unopened bottle of vodka in one of the cabinets. You didn't hesitate to grab it, along with a dry vermouth and some olives.
Bucky's eyes were on you the whole time, watching you making yourself a mean martini. Ypundidn't care if Steve saw you just now. Right now, you needed this. Just one glass to calm your nerves.
Younstirred the liquid with the olives in a stick before downing the whole thing in one gulp.
"As hot as that was," Bucky said, referring to how you drank the martini and how younmade it, "that's your last drink for the night. I'm not letting you get drunk for the wrong reasons. Once was enough."
You set down the glass on the counter with a thud. You lifted your hazel eyes to meet his blue ones. "You're paying for this, by the way."
He chuckled. "I know. I'll take care of it."
You looked cautiously at the door, dreading Peter. Knowing he won't probably be here for another hour, you approached Bucky, discreetly grabbing his hand. It took you a moment to put your thoughts into words.
"James, if we tell Peter, we need to be... sure. Of this. Of us." youbwatched your fingers brush against him on the wooden table.
"We've talked about this, y/n. I am." He reassured, walking closer this time. "It's a big risk but it's one I'm willing to take."
The idea of you jumping into this together, jumping into it with caution gave you a big relief. But right now, it wasn't just an idea anymore. It was real.
It was real in the way he snaked his arm around your waist, in the way he pulled you into a soft, deep kiss, and in the way his lips lingered on your lips. You pulled away, your bodies still close. At that moment, it was just the two of you. Never mind the loud karaoke machine, or the faint noises of the traffic outside, or Sam's out of tune rhythm.
It was just the two of you. In your own little afterglow.
"You're a big risk I'm willing to take." He whispered the words so slow that they swirled around you, pulling you even closer.
"And you're mine too." you smiled.
Several minutes have passed since your little conversation. Nat had teased you and Bucky of being whipped for each other. Of course Sam joined, and then Nick who chanted a little song he made, which, for the life of you, you couldn't even remember. The rest didn’t understand a word he was singing other than the words "Bucky" and "y/n."
Steve, on the other hand, had been silently drinking his beer and eating the whole time. You once gave him an are-you-okay look and he just nodded in response, giving you that classic tight-lipped smile of his.
Bucky was seated beside you, your thighs grazing each other in the little booth. Even accidental touches brought you comfort.
And isn't that just the best damn thing?
Peter had come in after the little performance Nick just gave, thankful that he didn't walk right in the middle of it. Behind him was a staff of Marco's who delivered the pizza boxes. Everyone hurrah'd. You grabbed your wallet from your back pocket but Steve stopped you, handing some bills to the guy.
"Steve, I could've gotten it." You said after the pizza guy left.
He shook his head, setting down his beer on the table. "It's your party, kid. I'm not letting you pay a single cent."
Nat scoffed. "She made herself a drink just earlier. You should charge her for that."
"Woah, y/n drank? That's new." Peter chimed in, squeezing himself in the booth, sitting at the edge. Between you were Sam and Nick. "What else did I miss?"
And so, you told him everything — well, not everything. Only from when Steve fired you (him lying about how why he even came up with it which Peter bought), to Bucky convincing you to take the project collaboration with Sam, to finally agreeing to it, to the whole meeting that happened just three days prior, and to how you’ll proceed from there. Youndidn't know if Nat and Steve wanted to reveal their little thing to Peter so you kept your mouth shut. Not wanting to do to them what you didn't want done to you and Bucky.
"My god," Peter commented, "that really was a long week! I'm quite disappointed I missed all of that!"
Oh, Parker. If only you knew the whole truth.
In return, he gave the gist of the whole corporate retreat. He finally told you where he and the rest of his team went but it was some place you couldn't even pronounce. Some cabin by the lake far away from Manhattan. He didn't bore you too much with the details. All you knew was that they went fishing, hiking and camping in the wild while team building. Along with the stories were photos of him and the place they were staying.
You frowned thinking it would've been fun if he were with friends. Like you guys.
The whole time, Bucky held your hand under the table or rubbed your thighs discreetly so as to not draw much attention.
Nat was an exception. That redhead saw everything, smirking once in a while. You gave her a discreet look from time to time.
Peter congratulated you, toasting his pizza with yours. Thankfully, he didn't need to drink tonight ("No drinks for me tonight or for the next few days").
"Wow, you really came out there like a new man!" you chuckled. He laughed right back but for just a mere moment. His expression changed while taking a bite of his pizza. You began to be nervous as to why this kept happening. Younneeded to go to the toilet.
Getting out of the booth was a chore. Nat, Steve and Bucky had to get up before you could even stand up. Youndidn't get why you didn't just stick the little tables together to make a long one.
You were in the toilet for a little while, leaking everything that youndrank tonight. Your head felt a bit dizzy but younmanaged to stand up afterwards. The voices of your friends were inaudible against the wooden walls. Except Nick's booming laugh.
Once you opened the door, you were greeted by Steve who was standing still, waiting for the toilet to become unoccupied.
"Sorry." you apologized. "Was I too long?"
"No." He replied shortly. You tried to walk past him but he caught your arm. Younlooked at his hand, confused. "Are you sure about this Bucky guy?"
"What?"
"This whole thing with Bucky. You can't actually be serious about this."
Taken aback, you wiggled out of his grasp, successfully yanking your arm out. "And who are you to tell me that?"
"You just met this guy." He answered. You still felt his grip on your arm by his stern tone.
"Weren't you the one who kicked me out of this very bar just for me to go to the roof to meet with this guy that I just met?"
"I thought you would've ended whatever thing you had going with him."
You scoffed. "You're not my father, Steve. I know you have this weird father or brother thing you have with me but I'm an adult. I can take care of my damn self."
"What about that night you were insanely drunk?"
"That... that was a one-time thing. A mistake is what it is!" younhissed. "Everyone makes mistakes."
"Y/n, listen — "
"No." you cut him off. "You listen. Just because you and Nat haven't figured out whatever the hell is going on with you two, doesn't mean you can shit on my relationship. Before you comment on my dating life, I suggest you fix yours first. I'm happy. Bucky's happy. We're both happy. Please mind your own business."
Before you could even go back to the group, Steve called your name. Youngroaned, turning around. "What now?"
He sighed. "You're really going at great lengths for Bucky. Keeping secrets from Parker and all that. Is it really worth it?"
You stood there. Silent. Trying to find your voice.
"Well, I'm about to find out." You replied, turning around, hopefully for the last time. "Later, Steve."
You went back to the group and continued to chat with them. Steve got back after a few moments. His streak of silence was broken when Nat revealed something none of you had ever known before.
"Did you guys know that Steve was a journalist before he became a bar owner?" Nat said, looking at Steve.
You raised your eyebrows, the pizza caught in mid-air. A curiosity sparke, pleased with the new information you had just acquired.
"Steve Rogers? A journalist?" Peter scoffed unbelievably, leaning back against the seat. "No way. No, I don't buy it."
"Me neither." Nick butted in. "He doesn't look like the type. Nuh-uh."
"It's true!" Nat argued. "Tell them, Steve. Come on!"
Steve forced a chuckle, avoiding all your waiting gazes. "Yeah, it's true. I was. I used to work for the New York magazine."
"Why'd you stop?" Bucky's voice surprised you. It was the first time you’ve actually heard him talk to Steve first, except that time when you first introduced them.
Steve's eyes met Bucky's. A strange atmosphere picked up. You couldn't quite point out why. "I was sticking my nose up where it didn't belong." He replied. "I got fired because of that. Boss said I was too... intuitive."
"Isn't that what journalists should be exactly?" You asked.
"Too much of something is bad too, I guess." He shrugged, retreating back his eyes.
"Huh." You said, observing Steve. Eyes stolid. Bearing no emotions at all. "Well, look who's good at keeping secrets. Steve Rogers."
He hummed. "We all got secrets."
And then Nick revealed a ridiculous secret ("I hate the bank! I don't have a bank account!") that lightened up the mood.
The night went on after that, Steve avoiding any questions you had about this past life of his. Nick had the most ridiculous questions followed by Peter. But the night had to end as well. Thankfully, it ended sober.
Leaving Steve, Nat and Nick behind, Bucky, you and Peter headed up the stairs, the elevator ride filled with deafening silence. One you very much loathed. Between Bucky and you was Peter. It was killing you not to touch Bucky.
Bucky left, merely dropping you off in your apartment. He told you he'd come by tomorrow morning to get his stuff that was still in Peter's room.
It killed you not being able to kiss Bucky good night, watching his back getting smaller and disappearing behind the elevator. Peter closed the door after that.
"Boy, I'm tired." You yawned, stretching your arms up. "I'm gonna go ahead. It's nice to have you back, Parker."
Before you could even go to your room and have a nice sleep, Peter called for your name. You lazily replied.
"Yeah?"
"Why'd you do it, y/n?"
Confused, you turned around, meeting his gaze. "What?"
"The project with Sam." He said, walking towards you. His footsteps were heavy in each step. As heavy as his voice was becoming. "Bucky convinced you. Why'd you say yes?"
Trepidation filled your body. A kind of weakness you loathed. But you tried hard to stand on your ground, masking your anxiousness.
The noises outside the apartment, out on the streets mirrored the voices in your head.
"It was a big business opportunity." you found your voice. "A collaboration. And I didn't have much choice knowing that I was going to get fired."
But it seemed like Peter chose not to listen. "For years, I have been trying to get you to work with me. Years, y/n. Years." He sighed in exasperation. His eyes were bloodshot, tears badly wanting to escape. "Why couldn't you have said yes to me?"
His last words were so strong and sharp like a knife piercing right through your flesh, leaving you to bleed out in the open. You opened your mouth to speak, to say something, to say that you were sorry but unfortunately, no words came out. Peter breathed, releasing his strong gaze. "Good night, y/n."
He left you standing there in the middle of the room, realizing now that it would be harder to tell him about you and Bucky. Once you finally had the energy to carry your weight towards your room, you treaded towards it slowly and opened the door, only to be met by a soft knock on your window.
You nearly jumped at the sight outside the window.
"Jesus, Bucky!" you hissed, immediately closing the door behind. You opened the window and let him inside, closing it afterwards. "How did you get there?"
He was panting, trying to catch his breath. "Fire escape."
"It's freezing cold outside." you scolded, grabbing him your blanket and wrapping it around his huge figure.
"I know." he replied. "Maybe you can warm me up." A cheeky smile started to play on his lips as he approached you.
You giggled. "Bucky, not now."
"I'm sorry, doll. I just couldn't leave without a good night kiss."
My heart melted at his words. You placed your hand on his jaw and pecked his lips. He pulled you in closer. You smiled in the kiss.
"Neither can I."
You kissed a little bit more, a bit more passion this time, the window framing you perfectly in the nighttime.
You pulled away, feeling a bit guilty about Peter in his room.
"We need to talk, James." You said, breaking what was a lovely atmosphere. You’ve already had two confrontations today. What was another one?
You sat on the bed and patted the space beside you. Bucky frowned, sitting beside you. "What's wrong?"
"Peter's kind of upset with me accepting your offer to work with Sam." you went straight to the point. "He's been trying to get me to work with him in his company he works at ever since he got the job but I've always declined. And now, I think he's mad or even jealous that I said yes to you. God, you should've seen him, Buck. His eyes were so wide, and red. I've never seen him like that. It didn't look like Peter at all."
It took him quite a while before he spoke. "Do you regret taking up the offer?"
"What, heavens no!" You answered. "Bucky, this has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. You're one of them too, of course." You said, seeing his doe-like eyes once more. "I'm just getting a bit more scared now. What if there is no right time for us to tell him? What then?"
He clasped your hands with his large ones, making you stop your trembling. You didn't even notice your hands shaking until now. "There will be a right time, y/n. Right now, we just have to keep this our little secret for a while until we can tell him."
"What happens when he doesn't approve of this?" You started to ramble on once more. "Of us? What happens then?"
"Sweetheart, you don't know what's going to happen but we'll make it work."
You didn't respond. You just kept staring at your joined hands.
"I promise." He added.
You finally nodded, releasing a breath you didn't know you were holding. "Okay."
"Now, if it's okay with you." He moved a little bit closer, kissing your cheek. "I can spend the night here." Another on the other. "With you." then on your lips.
"Peter's in the other room." you whispered in the kiss, amazed at how the mood changed so quickly.
"That's why I'm gonna need you to be quiet, babydoll."

As I ran along the corridor, late for class, I bumped into someone with a loud ouch. "I'm so sorry" "Hey its no problem, let me help you," a soft voice responded. As I reached for my potions home work, a hand brushed mine. Remus John Lupin, my rival. The only person who's intelligence rivaled mine. The person who makes my life living hell. The sweetest gum-drop to everyone, loved by all. However, I'm not "all."
"Y/N?" he asked, looking at you with those big brown eyes. "I'm fine Lupin," I respond as I grab my book from his hand. "At least let me-" "I said I'm fine." He slowly gets up, and offers me a hand. I huff and shove it as I stand. "You know I was only trying to help y-" "I'll see you in class Lupin," and with that I storm off, leaving a very confused boy.
Now you're probably wondering, what makes one hate Remus Lupin, the sweetest guy, the glory of the marauders. Well let me tell you, not much.
My mother and his were the very best of friends, there by, we became best friends. Every holiday, every weekend, every opportunity we got, we were at the Lupins. Remus and I grew close. He shared his love for reading with me, a love I always had but never felt so confidence to share with him. From fantasy to romance, I read it all, but I never shared it with him. The vulnerability I felt knowing he'd see what I enjoyed, what I loved, what I wanted, it was too much. His mum told my mum about his "illness." He thought himself a freak, a monster. He would cry about it, the pain he felt, the embarrassment of scars. To me, he was all but an angel sent from heaven, beautiful and pure.
Before we began Hogwarts, we made a promise to never leave each other's sides, to remain best of friends, no matter the houses or the circumstances. As it turned out, we weren't sorted in the same house. Everyone was shocked knowing that studious Remus was sorted in Gryffindor while me, odd-ball and awkward, was sorted in Ravenclaw. At first we were both shocked, but we kept the promise.
Until one faithful day.
Now while I never shared my love for reading with him, I did share everything else. My love for baking, knitting and potions, you name it, he knew. We shared our darkest secrets with each other. He shared his insecurities about his scars, and me my insecurity about being "fat." We made plans to open a book/tea shop, he would supply the books and I the tea, obviously. He knew everything about me, except for my reading and I knew everything about him. And for that, I loved him, but he never loved me.
In the beginning of the first year in Hogwarts, in the middle of a potions class, we were presented with amortentia. Why we were presented with such a complex potion at such a young age, I couldn't tell you. Perhaps Professor Slughorn was feeling cheeky. I smelt him in it. I smelt the soft worn out pages of the books that he read, I smelt the roses he always grew, his chocolate he always carried and something entirely him. After class, we met at the lake, our place where we'd meet and study. As I approached him, he seemed really tired, as usual, and something I thought I never imagined he would posses, anger, raw and bitter anger.
"Hey Rem, you alright?" He turned to me with puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks. "Rem oh Gods, whats wrong?" I rushed towards him and slowly wiped his tears away. "Talk to me, please," I asked softly while I wiped all evidence of tears. He looked up at me, those beautiful kind eyes, eyes that held so much emotion but always the best ones. "I don't want to talk about it," he said batting my hands away. I awkwardly fixed my glasses, "Okay well whenever you're ready, you want to start studying for our potions exam?" I began to unpack my bag when he got up, fuming. "You know what, yeah I do want to talk about it" I sat up, completely confused. "Remus?" "Y/N how is it, the one person, the one person who hates reading, detests it, passes every exam without fail? And not just passes, but tops every class. How?"
I sat there gaping, "Well I-" "Don't lie to me, don't you dare." I stood up, a feeling of anger consuming me. "What do you mean Remus? I study just like you, just like everyone." He grunted and groaned, "Stop lying to me," he screamed, "I read everyday, I study all the time, and yet you, you get all the awards, all the academic glory" I feel myself begin to heat up and tears begin to form, tears I begged not to fall. "What do you want me to say Remus? That I cheat? That- That I use spells to make me remember? Is that what you want to hear?" He stares at me, his gaze hardening. "I'll give you one chance, and one chance only, tell me the truth." I step back, gaping, confused. "I already told you Remus, I do the same as you, I study." He looks to me and says in a tone I never believed he could conjure, "Fine, if that's what you want to tell me, don't talk to me at all." "Remus you can't be serious." The tears I tried my best to hold, began to spill furiously as his words made me crumble. "Y/N, I don't ever want to talk to you, I don't want to see you, I don't want to study with you and I sure as hell-" "I smelt you in the amortentia today," I blurt surprising myself. "You what?" "I smelt you, the chocolate, the roses, your books," I say sniffling. He laughs, a cruel sarcastic laugh, "Oh really? Me? You must be joking?" I stare at him, confused and hurt. "You think I'd ever smell you, or like you. Y/N you're bloody lying to me, I could never like, or for that matter, love someone as hideous as you." My eyes begin to gush now. How dare he? The one person I trusted, my best friend. "Remus you don't-" "Oh but I do," he said while he picked up his bag and looked at me. "What about our plans?" He looks to the school, "I could never work with someone like you Y/N, I've never disliked someone as much I dislike you now." He begins to walk to the school, "Remus wait I-" "Leave me alone forever Y/N, and don't come here anymore, I have other plans here, plans that don't include you." With that, he walked away, leaving me, my tears streaming, my glasses foggy and my heart broken.
So you see, I never really hated him, but I obliged to his wishes. We never met again, he hung out with his friends, James and Sirius and Peter. As for me, I hung out with the first person I spoke to in Hogwarts, Andromeda Black. Now, Andromeda and I are two very different people, but we shared a love for potions . She knew of my love for reading, she saw me reading on my first night at Hogwarts. We became quick friends, and she soon became my best friend. She's like a sister to me, but I never did tell her about Remus.
After I left Remus on the corridor, I ran and met Andromeda in potions. "Hi dearie, saved me a seat?" She laughs and moves her bag. "Students, please note, today we will be brewing potions in pairs," the class sighs, "pairs that have already been chosen." I sigh loudly. "Cmon its not that bad, you could be paired with that cute Hufflepuff guy." We laugh softly. Remus and another guy run in and swiftly sit down. Professor Slughorn begins to call the list of pairs. "Andromeda Black and Xenophilus Lovegood," with that Andromeda groans and gets up. "Y/N Y/L/N and Remus Lupin," and my mouth fell open.
Remus came to my seat and we began to collect and prepare the potion. No one knew the potions name, only its ingredients. However, these ingredients seemed familiar but it never clicked. I felt his eyes stare through me. From the first year to the fifth year, my body didn't really change, I still remained a "fat girl" but hey I grew some boobs. Does he still think I'm hideous, I thought. I shake my head and we work in silence. "So how are you Y/N" he asks softly. Those beautiful innocent eyes stare right through me. Nope, not happening. "I'm fine Lupin" "Quite the tumble you took today, I-" "Let's just finish this okay?" He shakes his head and we work in silence. He seemed, nervous? Sad? Distressed was the word. After finishing the potion, we all gathered at the front. Dread began dawn on me as I fit the puzzle pieces together. "Now, who can tell me the name of this potion hmm?" "Amortentia , sir," I say in a soft voice.
"And Y/N can you tell me what happens when you smell this potion?" "You smell things that you like sir," I answer shakily. "Very good Miss Y/L/N, please, do us the honours of smelling the potion first." Dread fills me, but I still walk towards his desk. Please, I silently beg, please. "Well Y/N what do you smell?" I inhale the the aroma. "I smell- I," I gulp, "I smell roses, chocolate a-and books." Professor Slughorn applauded and awarded Ravenclaw 20 points and I return to my original place. I feel his eyes on me, but I only feel pain. After four years, how can I? As class is dismissed I begin to rush outside, but he grabs my hand. "Y/N please wa-" "Let go of me Lupin" "Y/N, please I-" "Lupin let go of me," I hear my voice break with emotion. He hears it too and let's me go.
Later that evening, at the brink of dusk, I sit in my room reading. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, a favourite of mine, and one of Remus' too. I sighed and stared out the window. Its been four years Y/N, pull yourself together. Those four years were one of the most brutal years. Thank goodness for Andromeda, without her I'd be so lost and defeated. After that day where Remus and I fought, he moved on well, he was constantly surrounded by his friends and well I, I was alone. I spent my time helping Madam Pomfrey. I learnt how to conjure spells to fix injuries and how to fix bones and so on. Although Remus and I stopped speaking, I never told anyone about his "illness," but I did help make the potion to control it, Madam Pomfrey taught me how to. He didn't know this either, not that he'd care or want to talk to me or- Pull yourself together Y/N, he forgot about you, he kept his promise and you did too. I sighed and began to turn in for the night, my mind racing.
To say I avoided Remus for the next week was an understatement, I ran from him. I spotted him the corridor, I ran the other way. Saw him in class? Sat away from him. Saw him in the library or lake? I'd be gone before he could say quiditch. It hurt, but I needed to do it, our last conversation played in my head over and over again. I couldn't bear his venom again, but I missed him, but could I manage without him? Hell yes.
On the Sunday that week, I walked down the stair well of my common room, wearing a fluffy sweater and cozy joggers. It was exactly midnight and I'd gone avoiding Remus perfectly. The heavy monsoon of October interrupted my sleep, but otherwise the school was sound. I crept down and checked for anyone. No one, lovely. Now I know what you're thinking, Y/N what on earth are you doing? Its bloody midnight. Well, I'll tell you. I was going to read. Due to my hectic schedule and lack of free periods, I spent most of the day working. But at night, it was the only time I read. I grabbed my wand and made my way to the library, my footsteps muffled by the pitter patter of the rain.
As I reached the library, I sighed in relief. No hiccups on the way, thankfully. However, the scent of chocolate lingered in the air. I tensed but brushed it aside, he was here today Y/N, I said to myself. I shook my head and began to search for a new book. I gently tapped my wand against a lantern and held it. Tonight was a mellow night, I wanted some excitement, a bit of comfort. I sighed, laughing to myself as I grabbed Pride and Prejudice from the bookshelf. I made my way to my reading nook, a cozy little spot, very hard to find, between the ends of the furthest bookshelves. As I read, my eyes became droopy. Five minute won't kill me, I convinced myself. As my eyes grew heavy and began to shut, a loud crash jolted me awake.
Who on this bloody earth would be in the library at this hour, I thought to myself. I extinguished the lantern and hid between two bookshelves. I held my breath and counted silently as I heard footsteps approaching. I exhaled slowly as I heard them fade away slowly. I stood up and sighed, picking my book from the ground, making my way back to my nook. Or I would have, if it weren't for the hand that grabbed me.
I spun around and was promptly shoved against the bookshelf, a warm lean body pressing into my cold soft one. They covered my mouth but I saw no hand, their other hand trapping my hands above my head. They slowly removed their hand from my mouth, and removed their cloak. The warmest brown eyes, eyes filled with emotions I've only read about, met mine. "Remus," I exhaled in a mix of shock, hurt and relief.
He stared at me, those big thoughtful eyes watching my every move. He took his hand and fixed my glasses that slipped down. "Hi Y/N," he said softly. My heart caught in my chest and my throat felt thick with emotions. "Let go of me Lupin," despite me being a larger girl, Remus was still stronger, by a lot. "Cmon Lupin, let me go, I'll leave and you can have your private time," I begged looking into those beautiful hazel eyes. "If I let go," he whispered softly, his breath tickling my ear, as he leaned in,"will you let me talk for a minute?" My heart hammered, "Yes." He slowly let go of my hands and stepped back. I sighed with relief, and then shoved him and ran.
I ran out the library, down the hall. I heard him calling my name but my tears that streamed my face answered why I couldn't stay. After four years, I never did stop loving my- the big goof. I reached the end of the corridor and ran onto the lawn, a stitch forming in my right side. I gasped as I felt myself begin to freeze in the cold rainy night. Bloody twit used a hex on me. He approached me with a vigor and I stared at him, tears streaming, and my heart hurting.
"What the hell Remus, let me go," I gritted as I tried to move. He took my wand away and held it. "Look, I just want to talk, I'll let you go but please, please listen to me," he pleaded. How could I ever say no to that beautiful boy? I nodded as best as I could and he unfroze me, my wand still in his hand.
I stared at him, my tears flowing in torrents, just like the rain, "What do you want Remus? I did as you asked, I left you alone," I shout over the boom of thunder. He looks at me and I saw tears flowing down his face too, "Tell me the truth Y/N" "Remus I di-" "No Y/N, tell me why you wake up every night, why you sneak off to the library every night." "I-Remus b-" "Why didn't you tell me?" he asked, his voice cracking, "You made everyone believe you were uninterested, bored by reading. You lied to me," I sobbed. "I didn't want you to-" "To what Y/N to judge you?" he stepped closer to me as the rain and soaked our clothes. "To what, think you a nerd? Like me?" "No I-" "Y/N is that really what you think of me, well than-" "I lied because I couldn't let myself be vulnerable around you," I say as I sob looking away, "Remus, I- I didn't want you to see what I liked or what makes me cry, or angry or happy," I sniff as thunder booms, making us both jump. "Then why did you tell Andromeda?" I gape at him, "Yeah why?" I felt my anger build up, "She found me reading one day Lupin, I don't have to explain myself to you," I huffed as I began to walk away. "I smelt you, in the amortentia," he admitted, his voice thick with emotion.
"In our first year, I smelt you," he said, stepping closer to me,"I smelt green apples, like your perfume, cookies, like what we baked, and books. Books." I stand staring at him but he continued. "I smelt you but you never told me about how you read, why you'd come to class tired, or why you stayed up all night. I thought you trust me Y/N" "I did Remus and I do," I cried, "I just couldn't afford to be vulnerable around you." "Wh-" "Because I love you Remus," he stared his mouth ajar, "I've always loved you Remus, I love that you trust me, that you showed me everything, your likes, dislikes, loves, hates, the good and bad." The thunder boomed but I continued, "I didn't tell you because I was scared Remus, it felt like sharing a piece of my heart with you, and I didn't know if I wanted to share so much, knowing that you didn't love me." I sob miserably as tears flow slowly down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry Y/N, I never meant to hurt you," he cried stepping closer to me,"I know what I said that day, and I've never forgiven myself for it," he said as be wiped his eyes, the thunder rolling. "I'm sorry and I know I hurt you, I thought you hated me," "Remus I-" "I thought you hated me and preferred Andromeda to me." "Rem, you were my best friend, and I loved- I still love you," I admit, defeated, "I didn't want to show you everything, I didn't want you to hate me." He holds my hands and intertwined our fingers, "How could I hate you when you're my love?" he asked, as he crashed his lips to mine.
My eyes widened but I slowly melted into his embrace. He dropped my hands and pulled me in gasping softly. His hands wrapped around my waist and mine, tangled in his chocolate locks. I never felt such passion, such emotion, emotions I only read about. I felt tingling sensations stretch across my body but his touch soon soothed it. He pulled away slowly, both of us gasping for air. "I've always loved you Y/N," he said as he pulled me close, his hands wrapped around my waist,"I'm sorry I hurt you, I'm so-," I silence him kissing him softly, "It's okay Rem, I would have probably gotten mad too," I said sniffling. He chuckled stroking the small of my back. "Well, I think of a way I can make it up to you." "Oh?" I sniffle as I look at my beautiful boy. "Y/N, you are the love of my life, I love, love, love you," he holds my chin and and makes me look up at him. Raindrops and tears mixed and fell down both of our faces. "Be my girlfriend, and maybe one day-maybe one-," I kiss him and he sighs, relieved. "Yes Rem, I'll be your girlfriend."
He hugs me and kisses my forehead. We hold hands and walk in the rain, talking and laughing. "So how on earth did you know that I read in the night?" I ask him. He laughs and pulls us into the corridor, sopping. He shows me the marauders map and explains it. "I'm sorry I spied on you," he apologised blushing. He held my hand and led me back to my common room. When we reached, I turned to him. "Thank you for the walk Rem, I'll see you in class today?" He smiles his signature gorgeous grin, "How about we skip today?" I laugh and I kiss him, "Whatever you want Rem, Whatever you want."

"I'm running a little late today, so I won't be home in time but I asked Steve to be there to open up–" a heavy sigh "for the love of god, try to be nice buck, that's all I'm asking, okay? Also, can you let me know if you're staying for dinner so I can pick up something extra on my way back– thank you. Okay..bye, love you."
love you. Bucky never expected to keep hearing those words falling from your lips but he does– after every call, every voicemail, every goodbye and see you soon. It makes him smile yet he doesn't deserve those two words.
you had assured him that morning after that you would always love him no matter what; that he's still the father of yet another gift in your life. The best months of your life after a shit show of years prior– you'd always love Bucky even if he broke your heart in a million pieces, he seemed to be the only one to put it back together..or steve. Steve did a pretty good job of glueing shattered parts of your heart back together.
It angered bucky. Coincidentally; Steve rogers marriage came to an end not two weeks after you'd moved into your own little place with the kids and for a split second Bucky had wondered if nothing ever happened between you and Steve during the time he suspected something. But he believed you. Nothing had happened, never and though Bucky still had to get used to Steve being around more and more each day, he knew he could trust the blonde.
You seem happy with Steve and unlike you and him, things between Steve went slow, taking time. No moving in three weeks after or by each other's side everyday and you certainly didn't let the man straight into Rosie and JJ's life.
A break..of sorts and maybe he'd gotten his hopes up and believed it actually could get better with time; get back together and be that little family again but as time passed by, it became all too clear– you really didn't plan on getting with him again and Bucky couldn't even blame you.
But you still let him into your life, let him be a part of your life. A part of Rosie's life..of JJ. You let Rosie stay with him whenever she wanted to, let her stay the night or a couple of days until the girl wanted to get back home again. Got to see his son nearly everyday and have him all weekends. 'I'd never take away your kids, buck'
Invitations to stay for dinner or spend the evening or to tag along with one of your day outs– all too eager to spend all the time he could with what once was his family,  even if it meant spending time with Steve.
You still took care of bucky, you still loved bucky because the man who broke your heart made you believe in love again, pulled you out of your shell after years of wanting to be alone. Took care of you during your darkest days, stayed by your side when you needed him the most. Gave Rosie a father figure she never had the opportunity to get, gave you another little soul to take care of. Bucky Barnes stole, bruised and broke your heart and till this day manages to glue it back together.
It took you a while to forgive him, you're still not sure if you actually have. With the loan you got from your new part time job at the store around the corner, you managed to get yourself a small two bedroom apartment not too far away from bucky– following most classes from your new study online and still being able to be there for your babies; if you were being honest, life was good.
The family wilson being back in your life being the icing on the cake. Sam being to eager to apologise for everything he'd said and done although 'I told you so'– first flight to Brooklyn and before you knew it the family stood in your apartment, unpacked boxes and painted rooms as if their lives depended on it; be there for you like they were after riley– family. Hailey even spent the better part of her summer in Brooklyn by your side to catch up while in all honesty, she got tired of her dad and needed some time alone.
Life was surprisingly good after everything.
"Dad?"
Snapping out of his daydream, Bucky looks up and meets the eyes of the little girl in the rear view mirror. The braid bucky had managed to braid that morning an untangled mess, hanging from her shoulder. Left overs of a chocolate cookie still visible on the corner of her mouth. Yellow shirt covered in dirt, paint and what else she'd been playing in and with at school.
Bucky hums and types a quick text to you, telling you he'd stay over for dinner "What's up?"
"Can alpine come with me sometime?" Rosie asks seriously, a hint of hope in her voice.
"I wish he could sweetheart but mom's not allowed to have any pets," Bucky chuckles "He misses mommy, right?"
"I don't know, he can't talk silly."
"Really then why does alpine talk to me every night?" Bucky quips back "he tells me how you steal the last cookies from the cookie jar."
"That was JJ– when are mommy, me and JJ coming back home, I want my own bedroom again."
Bucky clears his throat and quickly gazes to the little boy fast asleep in his carpet on the backseat and back to Rosie, Bucky swallows the lump in his throat.
You tried to explain it all but the 4 year old never seemed to be able to understand any of it; the two times Christmas, two birthdays not working.
"I don't know princess," Bucky admits "whenever mommy is ready."
which is never

Heavy footsteps echo against the grey stone walls of the short hallway,  doors with small white numbers glued onto the wood– Steve isn't much taller or shorter, maybe a bit broader but nothing to be afraid of and yet bucky finds himself tiny next to the man, intimidated to say the least- black leather jacket over a simple grey shirt clung around his biceps, long legs...intimidating but with the softest facial features, christ bucky didn't have any reason to feel this way around someone You deemed important.
If anything, Steve was as awkward as him.
Twirling around the hallway, her pink and purple colored bag bouncing up and down her back and her messy braid flying through the air, Rosie stills at the sight of the men walking their way
"You're late."
"I know, kid," Steve chuckles lowly "tried to be faster."
"Well, you should be faster next time." Rosie simply states.
Steve nods his head towards bucky with a slight smile which bucky returns and without another word, Steve twirls the keys out of his pocket and unlocks the door with the faint 9 on it.
Rosie storms in, nearly tripping over her own feet as she pulls her backpack off and throws it in the corner with all other shoes, bags and umbrellas.
The man nods again as Bucky pushes the stroller with JJ through the door. The familiar smell of you lingering in the air and fills his nostrils. He ignores the footsteps behind him. Bucky pushes his son further into the kitchen where he picks JJ out and sets the little man on the floor. Bucky's not even able to say another word, his son zooming off on all fours, going straight to the box filled with toys near the couch in the living room.
"I was told to hand you the keys." Bucky's eyes shoot up to Steve, your keys dangling between his thumb and index finger– Steve clears his throat.
Casually folding the stroller back before standing up straight, bucky nods and holds his hand out.
Your keys, not Steve's. Great, he's not at that base yet.
"y/n asked if you wanted to bathe the kids," Steve clears his throat once again and shifts his weight from one foot to the other "so she can start with dinner when she's back."
"Yeah, sure." Bucky mumbles almost inaudibly, calm and collected, through his stomach drops as Steve nods and strides his way to your bedroom and comes back out with a black overnight bag hanging from his shoulder; rogers printed on the fabric.
so, he's at that base already
"So, yeah– I should head back out. Work and all." Steve breathes out a laugh.
Placing both hands on his sides, Steve looks back to the living room where Rosie and JJ crawled and played around the coffee table.
"Bye rosie," Steve waves awkwardly and with no answer back, he looks back at bucky with a slight smile and nervous chuckle "kids, right."
"Yeah," Bucky deadpans, not batting an eye at the men in front of him "kids."
Bucky doesn't have the right to feel jealous, he screwed things up and not you but he still loves you with all his heart and he'll be damned if he didn't at least try to gain back your trust and maybe even woo you back in his life– Steve stands in the way of just that.

When two people "connect" the bond between them can be so pure and simple as to stir hearts in heaven.
When they connect in all the right places at all the wrong times, heaven weeps for broken hearts. To heal these broken hearts, heaven breaks time.
—Blithe Spiritus
Loki took one last look through the rearview mirror at the cottage on the edge of the cliff, which was getting smaller and smaller as he drove away.
Shifting his gaze forward, his face slid to the crate on the passenger seat, where Croki, his pet alligator, was sitting.
"I hope you will like your new home..." Loki sighed.
Then suddenly, he braked abruptly, holding back the cage with one hand as it slid forward. Then he backed the car up.
"Shit. I'm sorry Croc'"
He walked over to the mailbox. He put his hand through the window, opened the mailbox and put an envelope inside. Then his long fingers pulled the red flag in a vertical position, to indicate that there was mail. All this under the eyes of Croki who followed with attention all his gestures.
He tapped the top of the cage, "Come on, this time we're off for good."
He rolled, speeding up, refusing to look at the sign for the tiny village his home was in, New Asgard.  Loki rolled east, the cliff behind him, then passed a sign: New York, 35 miles.
The traffic became heavier as he approached the city.
After maneuvering through the various streets and making his way through the New York traffic, he stopped in front of an apartment building on a busy street. It was a very recent building, cold and sterile. The contrast with the tranquility of New-Asgard was striking.
He parked, got out of the car and took a moment to absorb the change in his surroundings. Then with a sigh, he began to unload his things.
**********
Loki stopped at the steps in front of the entrance to the imposing establishment - September High-School. He inhaled deeply to give himself courage before moving forward, climbing the few steps and pushing open the heavy door. He entered and walked to what appeared to be the front desk where a busy looking secretary was standing.
Loki asked softly, "Excuse me?"
"Just a minute, okay?"
Loki waited a minute, politely, then tried to get the secretary's attention again.
"Ahem... Excuse me, I need to..."
She handed him a stack of paper, while saying, without looking at him, "Just fill this out and wait for me there, okay?"
Loki handed it back to her.
"No, I'm Loki Laufeyson. I'm a new teacher. I was told to report here."
The secretary looked sheepish, "Oh, I'm sorry, Professor. You need to find Principal Romanov. She should be around here. A woman with red hair, dressed in black, you can't miss her."
He did indeed find the Principal in the hallway that the secretary had pointed out.
Natasha Romanov may have looked young to be a high school principal, but everything about her demeanor, her head carriage, her attitude exuded confidence and authority. She walked quickly down the hallway and Loki, though tall, had a hard time keeping up with her.
The principal handed him a large stack of files as soon as they arrived in her office.
"You will be in charge of the sophomores, this morning you will have three classes to teach and three this afternoon."
Loki repeated to be sure, "Three?"
"That's a quiet day, for a first day."
Loki looked a little dazed, he didn't think he was going to jump into the deep end and thought he would have some time to adjust.
The principal turned around, as if she sensed his hesitation, "The teacher you replaced let us down without notice, and it took us a while to find the right replacement, the students lost a lot of time for their final exams. We have to do our best to make sure they pass."
They walked past a student who was sitting alone on a bench, looking sulky. Romanov motioned to a supervisor.
"What's he doing here?"
The supervisor replied, "He was grounded because he took apart a computer to prove Professor Banner wrong and has to do an hour of gym under Professor Odinson's supervision. However, I can't leave the place unattended, and I was waiting for my backup to take him there.
"Peter get up," said principal Romanov in a sharp tone.
The young man stood up, a sulky look on his face.
"Professor Laufeyson, take him to Professor Odinson in the gym and then you can begin your lessons in this class."
The principal pointed to the door of the classroom in question, then turned and walked back to her office, not waiting for an answer.
"Well come with me, Mister...?"
The young boy followed his lead and replied with a pouty tone, "Parker, Peter Parker. »
"Then let's go Mr. Parker, the computer dismantler." replied Loki with a wink.  He knew he couldn't condone what the young man had done, but he couldn't help but find it amusing.
Seeing that the professor didn't look reproachful as he said these words, Peter lost his pout and got a small smile.
"Although I'm curious as to what could have caused you to disassemble a computer."
Peter seemed to come back to life, explained to an amused Loki, that Professor Banner, who taught biology, had said that nothing could compare to the complex construction that was a living being and Peter had wanted to show him the opposite by dismantling the Professor's laptop.
"But I was about to put it back together though, I don't understand why he got so upset."
Loki couldn't help but laugh.
Peter's face frowned because they had arrived at the gym.
They walked through the door and there a giant blonde man came striding in, "Peter Parker, it's been so long! Tell me what you've been up to again." he ruffled Peter's hair who tried to shy away from it, then he held out his hand to Loki who had to hold back a wince at the strength of the professor's grip.
"Professor Odinson, but call me Thor. Nice to meet you. New professor?"
"Yes, I am the new literature professor, Loki Laufeyson, but call me Loki. I'll leave this promising young man to you," He winked at Peter before continuing, "as for me I'll be teaching my first class."
"Welcome here, and good luck!" threw Thor at him before turning back to Peter, "Go change, we'll start with 10 laps running around the basketball court."
Hearing Peter's grumbles, Loki smiled as he walked away.
A few minutes later, he stopped outside his classroom door and took a deep breath.
"It takes a little time to adjust, but most of the students here are exceptional and the teaching staff is really, really nice."
Loki turned to see who had just spoken.
He found himself facing a black man, taller than him, and very impressive. But despite his imposing nature, his smile and eyes were very warm as he held out his hand. "Heimdall, art professor, welcome."
Loki grasped it and replied, "Loki, literature professor."
Heimdall gave a small nod in the direction of the door, "Good luck." then walked away.
Loki, surprisingly relaxed following this little interlude, walked through the classroom door with a confident air, placed his belongings on the desk and with an engaging smile on his lips addressed his first students, "Hello, I am your new literature teacher and I hope we will work well together."
He paused, letting his gaze roam over the entire class before continuing,"O Captain! My Captain! Who knows where that came from? No one? No idea? It's-"
A young boy raised his hand at the back of the classroom.
"Yes Mister...?"
"Keener, Harley Keener."
"All right Mister Keener, I'm listening."
"It's a Walt Whitman poem about Abraham Lincoln. And it's plagiarism of Professor Keating's introduction played by Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society."
Loki didn't lose his confidence at all and replied, "Thank you Mr. Keener. I'm not going to apologize for the plagiarism. I didn't expect anyone to contradict me since this film was released long before you were all born. Thank you, Mr. Keener, for setting me straight. I won't ask you to call me Captain, Sir, or Professor, but simply Loki. Yes, Mr. Keener, Loki, as in the Norse god of mischief... "
The whole class, including Harley, laughed and Loki thought that it wasn't such a bad start.
But he still felt exhausted at the end of the day, and he slumped into the chair at his assigned desk in the teacher's lounge. He leaned in and put his head back, closing his eyes.
"So they've worn you out already?" it was the deep voice, which he recognized as Heimdall's. He opened his eyes to see that the art professor had sat just at the desk next to him.
"Yet the Famous Five keep talking about Loki, the new professor who is super cool. It's been a long time since I've heard a literature professor on such good terms." It was Thor who came to join them and pulled a chair to sit in the space between Heimdall and Loki.
"The Famous Five?"
Thor chuckled before answering, "They're called that because they're always stuffed together, probably five of the smartest minds in this elite school, and as a result always going out on the town to..."
"…the benefit of science." finished Heimdall.
"That's their argument every time they get busted," Thor clarified.
"Who are they?" asked Loki, curious.
"There's Peter who you met this morning, he's in the same class as his two childhood friends Ned and MJ. There's Harley who talked about how you put him in his place, when he thought he had fooled you. Captain my Captain huh?"
Thor chuckled before continuing, "and finally Kamala Khan, the newest one, a little brunette, a ball of energy who always wears a big red scarf, summer and winter and who the other four have taken under their wing."
"Interesting..." replied Loki, thoughtfully.
"Wait until you're the target of their prank and we'll see if you find these kids interesting." said an unknown voice behind him.
"Bruce my friend! Were you able to fix your laptop?" exclaimed Thor with a laugh.
Loki turned around, only to find himself standing in front of a man who was a little older than him. He stood up and held out his hand, "Professor Banner, I presume."
"Am I that famous?" the man asked, raising an eyebrow as he shook the outstretched hand in a firm grip.
"It's mostly that I had the pleasure of taking Peter Parker for his grounding to Thor." replied Loki
"That brat..." harrumphed Bruce. "He's smart... but his habit of proving he's always right..."
The other men laughed in unison.
"So boys? Are we having fun?" a young woman with short blond hair stepped forward and held out her hand, "Carol Danvers, homeroom teacher at this crazy school."
"Nice to meet you," Loki replied, shaking the outstretched hand.
Unaccustomed to being around so many people and especially such friendly people, Loki felt a little overwhelmed and suddenly the fatigue of this first day seemed to fall on his shoulders to the point that he had to stifle a yawn.
Thor patted him on the back and said, "I have an excellent remedy for that."
"What is it?"
Heimdall and Thor high-fived each other and said in unison, "The Bifrost."
At Loki's look of complete incomprehension, Carol explained, "It's a bar two blocks away, good burgers, good beer and for good company, that's us." she finished with a wink.
Loki realized they were inviting him to come with them but he hesitated and finally replied, "Thanks. I better not drink tonight. I'm dead."
Bruce retorted, "We're all dead."
"Yes, but I still have a lot to unpack."
They nodded, and did not seem disappointed by his refusal, even rather understanding. Loki really wasn't used to this kind of company.
Heimdall put his hand on his arm and then said softly, "Next time, then."
Loki, not understanding why his throat was tight, simply nodded.
A little later, they separated in front of the school gates. Loki on one side and the group on the other.
" Bye Loki!"
"See you tomorrow Captain!"
Loki lived only three blocks from the school and soon arrived home. When he entered he realized how sterile and cold his large apartment seemed.
He had not yet had time to unpack all his things and the boxes were scattered everywhere. The first thing he had unpacked was Croki's terrarium, which took up a whole room.
As he closed the door, he heard Croki's typical little paws coming and rubbing against him as usual. He patted his head and headed for the kitchen. Croki was a Cuvier's Dwarf caiman. Loki had once wanted to get a dog, but in the animal shelter he had immediately felt a connection with the animal, perhaps because he was different, like himself.
Loki opened the refrigerator which was desperately empty except for Croki's fish ration. He put it on a plate and put it on the floor while commenting, "Need alligator food. And human too."
He was going to have to do some shopping tomorrow.
After snacking on a bag of chips, exhausted, he took a quick shower before going to his room.
"Good night Croki."
His room was as functional and depressing as the rest of the place. He went to stand in front of the window. Outside it was all stone buildings. It was very difficult to even see the sky. He sighed, "What a view..."
He pulled the blinds and went to bed. Once his head was on the pillow, he fell asleep very quickly, which prevented him from thinking too much about everything he missed.
**********
A red pickup truck passed the New Asgard sign before parking at the side of the path that leads to the house. Its back end was filled with furniture and moving boxes. A mustachioed man with gray hair got out. He walked toward the cottage on the edge of the cliff and stopped, hands on hips, contemplating the view.
He opened the door, looked for the electric power meter. He turned it on and went to turn on the light in the entrance and then in what seemed to be the living room.
Mobius examined the place, satisfied. There wasn't much. A stereo, some books, an armchair. But the bare and cosy furniture matched perfectly with the austere beauty of the small cottage. He looked out the window at the cliff. He was going to like it here.
It took him a good four hours to unload his pickup truck by himself and install just about everything he had brought. Once finished, he grabbed a cold beer that he had put in the cooler and while drinking it quietly walked around the house before getting in the car to go shopping at the local grocery store that he had spotted on his way in.
Once he had gone around the store, with his groceries in his arms, he went to put them on the counter.
The young owner and his wife were behind.
"Hi, are you new around here?" the owner asked him.
Mobius smiled and replied, "More or less. My name is Mobius."
The owner replied, "My name is Clint and this is my wife, Laura."
Laura smiled and added, "You're going to like it. Especially now that the weather is getting warmer." Then pointing to the groceries, she added, "We'll get you some boxes for all that."
"Oh thanks." replied Mobius.
Laura fetched an empty box from a high shelf. Now that she was no longer hidden by the counter, it was obvious that she was pregnant. Clint rushed to her. "No, honey, let me."
Mobius looked at them, feeling moved and at the same time fully aware of his own loneliness. He paid, took his box and left, but not without promising the young couple to return.
He parked in front of the small road with his groceries in the back of the truck and noticed the mailbox with its flag up. He stopped and opened it. There was an envelope.
For the new tenant.
He took in the groceries, put them away, made himself a sandwich tray and taking the letter, he went to sit on the armchair in front of the bay window. He put his tray on a small table next to it, opened the letter and started to read.
Dear new tenant.
Hello and welcome to your new home and congratulations, blah blah blah. You have made an excellent choice, New Asgard is a wonderful place and this house is a gem, as you may have already noticed.
I'm sure you'll love living here as much as I do.
By the way, I'm the former tenant, Loki.
Mobius looked perplexed but also pleasantly surprised.
The post office forwards my mail normally, but if something should happen here, because the post service is what it is and we are never safe, my new address is below. Thank you.
Mobius turned over the letter.
P.S.: Sorry for the pawprints leading to the front door. They were already there when I moved in, as well as the box in the attic. I think it belongs to the owner.
Mobius stared at the letter in amusement and could not help but check the end of the letter.
He went to the front door. The floor was clean. Inside and out.
"What did he talk about?" he scratched the back of his head before heading for the ladder that led to the attic. He opened the hatch, poked his head through and looked around. It was empty. No box.
Mobius went back down, shrugged, crumpled the letter and threw it away.
He finished his meal and went to bed.
The next day, in his clock store, while repairing an antique watch with an extremely complicated mechanism, he couldn't help thinking about the letter and its more or less strange ending when he was interrupted by the doorbell indicating that someone had entered the store.
He put down his tools, wiped his hands, and headed for the store.
"Hey Mobius! I made lunch, shall we share?"
It was the bubbly and somewhat invasive, Sylvie. The owner of the antique gun store right across from him.
He replied, annoyed, because she had interrupted his work that he loved, "I can't, I have urgent work to finish."
"Oh come on Mobius, there's nothing urgent about an old watch."
"It is to its owner."
She made a disappointed pout, "Well, okay..." she sighed and headed for the door, then turned abruptly. "Is it true you bought a house? Where is it? How is it?"
Mobius rolled his eyes, used to Sylvie's chatter.
"It's an isolated cottage, in a small village called New Asgard."
"You're sick to isolate yourself like that!"
"It's what I want and I already feel at home there. And now, if you don't mind, I'm going to get back to my work, which is not urgent." He walked briskly toward his studio, annoyed by the criticism of his choice, and didn't even hear the door close.
In the late afternoon, after his day's work, he decided to repaint the faded fences that lined the small path. The manual work, like his work on watches, helped him to clear his head.
A few hours later, as the day was getting darker, Mobius was kneeling on the steps and applying a new layer of paint to the weathered planks. He finished, satisfied with the result, and began to put his equipment away.
Behind him, a small dwarf alligator trotted along the path. Mobius didn't notice it at first. The alligator sped up and before Mobius could react, he stepped into the paint and left footprints behind him. "Hey!"
Mobius tried to catch the alligator but it ran back inside the house whose door Mobius had left ajar. Mobius was about to follow him, wondering what an alligator was doing here and if he was dangerous, when he suddenly stopped.
On the ground in front of the house, there was a trail of paw prints.
Mobius rushed to the garbage can and searched with determination through his trash when he finally found what he was looking for: Loki's letter.
He stared at it.
Sorry about the footprints leading to the front door. They were already there when I moved in, as was the box in the attic. I think it belongs to the owner.
He remained for a long moment staring at the crumpled note.
*********
Loki went out to have lunch at a place he had spotted not far from the school.
Finding the weather warm, he opened his coat and continued walking.
When he arrived at the place, he sat down on a bench and started to unwrap his sandwich, a book in his hand. He enjoyed this moment of calm, even if the place was crowded on this beautiful day.
Once finished eating, Loki closed his eyes for a moment, letting the sunlight warm him up. Just aware of the surrounding sounds, the water of the fountain, the splashes and laughter of the children playing there, an old man grumbling about global warming, the pigeons landing not far away, hoping to get some crumbs from those who like Loki had decided to have lunch here.
Suddenly, a horrible noise, a high-pitched squeal and a horn made Loki sit up. He suddenly opened his eyes and looked around.
A few meters away, in front of Loki, a double-decker city bus was trying to stop. It was going pretty fast, although you could tell the driver was trying to brake.
Loki registered it all, the noise, the bus, before noticing the gray-haired man standing directly in the path of the bus. There was nothing to be done, it was inevitable and almost immediate, the man was hit by the bus, and Loki, horrified, saw his distant figure fly ten or fifteen feet into the air before crashing to the sidewalk. The faint sound of the impact reached Loki half a second later, due to the distance.
Loki automatically took out his cell phone and dialed 911. As he walked towards the impact point, he gave all the information to the rescue workers, trying to remain calm.
Once he hung up the phone, he started to run towards the lifeless body.

"You suck," I grumbled in Peter's direction. Luckily, the little shit was out of my immediate eyesight and I couldn't just pelt him with the assorted items that were scattered around me; luckily for him - after enduring hours of non-stop rambling from the spider boy, I was ready to bargain with Stephen for the sorcerer to put a temporary mute ban on Pete. His nervousness was becoming contagious.
"And you swallow," Pietro replied with a snicker as I heard him wrestle with Peter's tie over the pathetic noises of whining and grumbling coming from the younger man.
"I'm lady, ladies don't spit," I rolled my eyes into the skies, catching Loki's appreciative snicker. She - and yes, Loki was in her female form for this event - carefully combed and did my hair, something completely out of this world, all puns intended. I supposed she was feeling generous, because her female form generally made Loki even more moody and unapproachable. But in a hot way. I hope she didn't notice me ogling her like some kind of gallery painting. "You're a goddess, I can't believe you're friends with me," I addressed Loki, watching the careful movements of her slender hands in the mirror.
A small smirk and a dusting of pink over her pale cheeks was what I got, but the silence was so, so loud.
"Stop flirting," Wanda remarked from her spot by the window where she was doing Natasha's make-up with surgical precision. "You already have three boyfriends, leave some for us, Jesus," Her tone was playful.
"Oh my God, like you didn't brainfreeze and run into the fucking wall, forehead-first, when you saw Loki walk in," I scoffed as Loki's blush deepened.
My witchy friend grumbled something rude in Sokovian under her breath but refrained from any more comments, choosing to simp in defiant silence. Well, good for her, because I was about a hundred and five percent sure that Loki was as equally as smitten with her. It's just that neither of them knew how to approach the other. What can I say, idiots in love...
And yes, yes, I can say that because it takes one to know one. My own idiots were somewhere on the upper floors - getting ready in their own rooms, pulling out their brand new suits and ties for the annual Stark gala. It was supposed to be a charity fundraiser but as all of us were quite disillusioned, we knew it was nothing but a pissing contest between people with small PP syndrome. Even Tony himself said so.
Which is why I had assembled all the girls and theys in my room for a mission debrief. My own personal pride wouldn't let me be anything but a star, and to be completely honest, I just wanted to show off my family to the world - even if the delicate parts of our relationship were hidden from the general public, it filled me with immense amount of joy to be surrounded by my very own at their absolute best.
As for Pietro and Peter, they arrived not too long after me, Wanda, Natasha and Loki made camp in the biggest room with the most amount of natural light, surrounded by make-up and other assorted tools. Both boys were bickering but it was obvious that some of the older men had gotten on their nerves, forcing the youngsters seek solace with their peers.
"You know, Vanity Fair better be talking about us for at least a week," I grouched as Wanda helped me into my dress before I returned the favour. "The amount of people I had to actually, physically talk to, to get us these fucking gowns, is frankly disgusting."
"Agreed," Loki admired herself in the mirror, smoothing out invisible creases in her gown. "Although I must say, the dressmakers on Midgard are far more patient and open-minded than on Asgard." Truly, Loki had nearly driven the poor lady crazy. But on the upside, Loki looked like a living doll. Pristine, perfect.
"Our whims are their wages," Natasha piped up with a chuckle.
We stepped out into the main room, taking note of the men scattered on the couches, all of them wearing an almost identical expression of being already done with the formal event - which, I didn't blame them. Having gotten used to the informal, communal-living atmosphere, I wasn't overly keen on being surrounded by random rich douchebags either; as it was unavoidable, I was going to be miserable - but at least I was going to be miserable in style.
Predictably, the menfolk froze and hurried to pelt us with compliments as they surveyed our ensemble - all of our dresses had a distinct vibe despite carrying a sense of individuality to each gown. That was my idea, actually, to present the team as a family - both to satisfy my own need for one and to present a good public image for the press. Call it getting good cookie from the public - in advance.
"Stunning, absolutely beautiful," Tony chastely kissed my cheek, leading my by the arm towards the limo, Stephen and Bruce a pace behind us. "I'm the luckiest man in the world."
"We are," Bruce corrected him mutely. Stephen's smirk was a mile wide. "It'll be hard to keep my hands to myself for four hours but I'll manage," The scientist added, eyes briefly flashing a fluorescent green.
"There are children here," Peter interjected, nervously waving a hand. I gently elbowed Tony, speaking with my eyes rather than words, that Pete was in dire need of emotional support for his first big public event. With a sigh, the engineer relocated to sit next to the spider boy, both of them talking in hushed tones.
"Now, Bruce," I smiled innocently. "Why would I refuse a dance or five to my favourite lab partner in crime?" I winked at him as giggles erupted all around us. "And I'm sure there's a point somewhere about wizards sweeping princesses off their feet," I kept up the banter in hopes that any remaining tension would evaporate before we arrive to the venue.
I, however, couldn't lose all of it for we were absolutely assaulted by the photographers and press as we arrived to the red carpet; it was only sheer luck that me and Wanda didn't stumble ass over heels out of the limo. That luck's name was Loki: her magic delicately helped us to exit the car with grace despite our large gowns. Mental note to buy Loki all the chocolate: add to priority list.
It went about as good as it could. Peter was introduced as a trainee - and nearly had an aneurysm when Tony none-too-kindly corrected the host, calling Peter his protégée and successor. As for little old me? Rising star of biochemical engineering. No titles, no direct titles, but it was heavily implied we were involved.
I could fell the old, white rich men leering at me despite the layers of silk and tulle. Nobody was commenting on my champagne intake so I downed one after the other until I had a comfortable buzz going on. I could absolutely see why female scientists became either reclusive or brash.
Bruce's eyes followed me wherever I went. I had encountered some people I vaguely knew from all the socialite events I had to attend with my mother, so it wasn't as if I was a fish out of the water; it's just that every time I strayed further than ten feet from out group, I instantly grew a tail in the form of one of the Avengers.
"Sam, quit being creepy," I exited the ladies room, immediately spying the handsome man just 'casually' hanging out by a potted plant, glued to his smartphone and pretending to be very busy.
He looked up guiltily, shutting down Minesweeper and pocketing the phone. "Not taking any risks this time 'round, Princess," He offered me his arm, leading us back to our table. "Tony would have my head."
I rolled my eyes, falling into the chair next to Stephen. "My tracker implant is still in and the bracelets Natasha loaned me are actually tasers. Bird, chill," My hand snuck under the tablecloth, blindly groping for Stephen's hand. It didn't take much time for him to respond, cradling my smaller palm in his larger one, offering the small comfort with a tiny tilt to his lips. Both my large skirt and the fabric covering the table aided the secrecy; I felt like a middle schooler sneaking a kiss from my first crush behind the bleachers.
Coupled with the bubbles in my champagne, it made me giddy.
"Sam is just being careful, Princess," Stephen rumbled patiently. "This ball will be over soon."
I snorted, "But Stephen, I love balls," Causing the whole table erupt in bashful snickers.
"Yeah, think to me about it," Wanda downed the remnants of her wine glass, eyes wide, looking to the side. The giggling became a full belly-laugh as I didn't have the decency to play coy. I just smirked because, yeah, I did love me some...
The final hour dragged on forever. My feet hurt from the dancing. I had my suspicions that time would pass faster if I actually move around so I didn't waste the chance and cajoled Bruce into several slow dances with me. The energy between us was electric; I hoped my wife eyes and the red crawling up his neck would be attributed to alcohol. We spoke in hushed tones, about nothing in particular, the words being like sticks we threw into our fire.
Tony wasn't around much, way too busy to do much more than stop by our table every now and then. I both envied and admired him; he handled everything with grace and serendipity. Tony was right there next to Thor and Loki - literal royalty - and I had to pinch myself to prevent myself from ogling him, sighing in lovesickness every goddamn minute.
"If you ever stop looking at him like that, I don't think he'll survive," Stephen's tone was cheeky; his eyes were intense as he looked down at me as we danced. My sorcerer was rarely sappy, but when he found the words to describe his feelings... It was serious.
I met his eyes slowly, letting him soak in the very same admiration and awe I felt when I was with him. I felt his shudder, I heard the hitch in his breath. He wasn't jealous, no, he simply observed. I wanted him to see what I saw. "The day that I stop looking at you all like that is the day that I need to get my head screwed on straight." I wasn't a poet but neither was this a romance novel. "As far as I'm concerned, I won the lottery, the grand prize and the fucking life."
He chuckled. "You have way too much faith in us, Princess," Twirling me as to avoid the out of habit embrace.
Did I, though? I was inclined to disagree. Sure, we had our spits and arguments and sometimes Stephen would stick his cold ass feet under my blankets, Bruce's love for curry was a crime against anyone who slept in the same room as he and Tony routinely flirted with everyone and everything that had a pulse. I had days where my mother's temper surfaced.
Sometimes, one of us would inadvertently hog the other person and the remaining two would pout, roll their eyes or pitch a fit.
I just didn't see it as a big deal. All of those parts were normal - what couldn't be said about the rest of our situation. Compared to couples I've seen around, I thought we're happy. My boyfriends seemed to be happy, too, and if they weren't, it usually was pretty obvious.
So - okay, perhaps we definitely should be working on verbalizing our feelings. That would definitely solve if not world hunger, then at least the world war three that occasionally erupted in Tony's penthouse. And the ups and downs - not the steep kind, but ones not too different from waves rolling ashore - was what held us together. Because, well, our world was hectic and fast-paced and sometimes we needed that gentle rocking motion to sway us back to peace.
Tony's arm on my waist pulled me back to reality, steering me towards the balcony. Bruce and Stephen followed, all four of us power-walking through the inebriated crowd.
"Just so you know, I'm on board with whatever crazy shit you're planning," Stephen raised a palm towards a smirking Tony.
His mouth immediately dropped into a pout I could barely resist kissing. "But... I had a whole speech prepared," The engineer retorted indignantly, discreetly attempting to swat the sorcerer on the ass.
"And I'm sure it was amazing, honey," Bruce placated the upset Tony with a laugh, causing the latter to intensify his pout, eyeing us with mirth over the rim of his glasses, his stupid, lovely face more kissable than ever.

• You started working in a cafe when you started college. That cafe was Peter’s favorite, he went there alone to study, with his friends or siblings.
 • The first time you saw each other, Peter was in the cafe with his siblings. They were all drinking coffee and talking, laughing. You entered to the cafe to begin your shift and Peter saw you. But you didn’t see him because you were a bit nervous for your new job.
 • You started working immediately but Peter was watching you, thinking that he was very subtle and unnoticed but Lucy’d already seen him.
 • Peter told his sibling he’d get a coffee but his coffee cup was half full. This was the moment when Lucy told Edmund and Susan that Peter was looking at you. Then they all started to watch Peter, they were having fun.
 • Peter approached you and casually wanted an espresso. Although you were super nervous you managed to give him the espresso perfectly. You expected him to leave after taking his coffee but he didn’t. ‘’Hi,’’ He said softly. ‘’Are you new here?’’ You answered him you chatted for a while about college, your job and coffee types. All he could think was you were amazing and he wanted to talk with you more.
 • Therefore he asked you if you could spend time together after your shift was offer. But you declined him, you weren't ready to let new people come into your life.
• You thought you got rid of him but no, you were really wrong.
• Peter liked you, you were easy to talk, got a very good sense of humour and kind. He saw how you treated other customers after him. He liked that kindness so much.
• He said okay to rejection and didn't insist, he took his coffee and went back to his siblings. Susan and Lucy were giggling and Edmund had a smirk on his face.
• After that day, Peter came to the cafe every single day. Some days, you wished he'd stop because he was very cute and handsome, a total distraction honestly. And as even the owner of the cafe knew him, he was very welcomed in the cafe.
• He didn't force you to anything tough. He had casual chats with you, didn't try to flirt with you. Yes, he liked you but he didn't want to make you uncomfortable or nervous.
• But Peter knew how to be a tease. He was so handsome and so gentle. He knew how to play the game, get your attention. You really wanted to meet him properly but you were scared.
• One day, after taking his espresso, he thanked and winked at you. “Okay,” You thought. “That's it. Why am I holding back? What can I lose if I just let him into my life?”
• “Does your offer still stand?” You asked suddenly. He smiled and his face started to shine. “Yes,” He replied. “It always does.” You nodded. “Then I accept it.” He thanked you and you were really surprised. Why and how was he so kind?
• After your shift is over, Peter was waiting for you outside. “Hi,” He said, smiling. “Thank you for accepting to spend time with me.”
• “Thank you for wanting to spend time with me.” You replied as you both smiled. Then you started to walk aimlessly. You walked in the street, close to each other, just talking. Peter sometimes pointed to a park saying “This is where I used to play.” or a patisserie saying “They have the best cupcakes ever.”
• Honestly, you hated him because he was so cute and irresistable.
• Honestly, he liked you because you were so smart and cheerful.
• You felt so good with him. It was like you'd known each other for so long. The conversations you had were so smooth. He was an easy person to talk, share your opinions with.
• As you had to study, you said you should go. He asked if he could take you to your dorm but you said no because it wasn't that much far and you needed to be alone to think.
• Peter kept visiting you at the cafe. He was flirty this time. He always thanked and winked at you when you were giving him his coffee, he always complimented you about anything, like “Your necklace is pretty. That shirt looks so good on you. You look very awesome today. Wow, you are brilliant, really.”
• After sometime, you realized you liked him but you decided it would be better if you didn't do anything about it. But Peter noticed something was different, for example the way you smiled or looked at him. Your eyes and your smiles were welcoming, so warm.
• And he made his move and asked you out because he just wanted to be with you and didn't want to wait longer.
• He took you ice-skating for your first date. He helped you skate but neither of you were that successful so all you did was just laughing. Then he bought you hot chocolate and you walked in a park. The weather was cold a bit but it felt good. He told you about his siblings, his college life, his childhood, his dreams. You talked about same topics too. But there was only one thing you didn't tell him but you didn't feel ready yet.
• Weeks later, he said Lucy was coming to cafe to meet you. Well, you thought it could be a great time to inform him about your pronouns. So you told him that you prefer they/them pronouns and would like to be called “partner” instead of boyfriend/girlfriend.
• You were scared of his reaction because your former partner kept using the other pronouns and didn't even respect your identity.
• But Peter was... Just Peter. He softly said “Okay. If I'd used wrong pronouns before, I'm so sorry.”
• You really hated that guy sometimes. He was just perfect and you were afraid of falling love with him (I mean, if you already hadn't).
• When Lucy came, he introduced you as his partner and informed Lucy about your pronouns. Lucy liked you so much and you liked her too.
• After informing him about your pronouns, Peter was very protective of your pronouns. All of his siblings learnt your preference. Whenever someone used a wrong pronoun, he corrected them. And when someone was disrespectful, he'd get angry and protective. He was about to get into fight a few times, if you hadn't stopped him.
• He didn't have the courage to say it loud or to you but he liked you so much that all he wanted to was to make you happy. According to him, you were such an amazing person and deserved all the happiness in the world.
• And he made his best to make you happy. He was really successful. He always kissed your hands, your cheeks, hugged you and kissed your hair every time after your shift was over, he took you to your dorm, helped you study, he'd bring the books that he thought might help you, he loved giving you his jacket. You'd never felt loved like that before.
• One day, you decided to come out. He was so loving, gentle, caring and his reaction to your pronouns made you feel safe. You trusted him and you wanted him to know.
• After college, you said you two needed to talk and he immediately asked “Are you alright? Is there anything wrong?” You said everything was alright but there was something you needed to tell him. You went to a park and sit on a bench.
• You were nervous, to be honest, but he took your hands, kissed them and told that you could tell him anything, he'd always support you.
• Then you came out. You spoke too fast because of the stress. He smiled gently and repeated everything slowly. “Am I not mistaken, right? Do I understand correctly?” He did his best to understand your feelings.
• “And?” You asked. “What do you think?”
• “It's not about what I think.” He replied. “As long as you want me by your side, I'll always be there for you.”
• Of course you wanted him on your side. “Then,” He said, kissing you, “I'm here for you.”
• Peter was truly amazing. He educated himself, always made you feel good about yourself, he was even more clingy, he never stopped showing his love physically and verbally.
• “I have to work, let me go.” He held you tighter. “There's no way I'm letting you go.” “I'll be fired because of you!” “Okay, I'll let you go only if you give me a kiss.” How could you reject him?
• Everything was truly amazing. Peter and you, your college and work life. Until one day, some jerk in your class used a wrong pronoun and when you corrected him kindly, he said your voice sounded female and he wouldn't correct himself.
• You were really upset and angry but you didn't want to show it to Peter, knowing how protective he was. But the moment he saw you, he knew something was wrong. He asked you, however you didn't respond. Then he said he'd wait until you want to tell him.
• He did what he said. But at the same time he bought you your favorite dessert and a cup of tea. He waited siletly and patiently but made sure you were safe and warm. He gave you a blanket, brought your earphones in case you wanted to listen music, kissed your forehead.
• After some time, you felt ready and gained strenght to talk about that person.
• Oh, he was mad. He was truly mad. You'd never seen him that angry before. He looked as if he could kill that guy at the moment. But then he pulled himself together and gave all of his attention to you.
• He took you his arms. “I love your voice. I love it when you speak and share your brilliant ideas with me. I love it when you make a joke, share a memory with me, tell me about the last movie you watched, your opinion on someone's new album, the last thing you learned in the class. I love your voice so much and I know my life would be awful if I didn't hear it. Some people choose to be idiots and I know nothing will change if told you not to mind them, but I'm here for you and your voice brings joy to my life, okay?” He kissed you. “I love everything about you, so so much.”
• And you two lay down there, he hold you tight and turned on TV to watch your favorite show. In a short time, you found yourself laughing, speaking, giggling.
• The next day, before your class began, that disrecpectful guy apologized to you.
• After your classes was over you went to the cafe and Peter was waiting there for you. You told him what happened but he didn't seem surprised. “Does this have anything to do with you?” You asked suspiciously.
• “I have no idea what you are talking about, darling.” He replied but he was smiling.
• He took you into his arms while you were smiling and saying “I'm so lucky.”
• He kissed you. “But I am the luckiest.”

Hi! Congrats on 1.8k! Can I request one of the Fandom Life, please, for Marvel? My pronouns are He/Him. I have no gender preference. I experience a great depth of feelings, but as an introvert, I largely process these emotions internally. I enjoy all things D&D & Cthulu. I'm a Ravenclaw. I am loyal to a fault but overly idealistic. When I feel something is threatening me, I will react by assessing information & stringing everything together to eliminate the threat before it gets me by all means.
Can I get Parent for the additional option please?
Fandom Life requests are closed
Sibling: Peter Parker
Best Friend: Scott Lang
Significant Other: Natasha Romanoff
Parent: Thor Odinson
Tumblr media
Either he gets into something nerdy and shares it with you or you get into something nerdy and share it with him, that’s how it’s always been. Before he met Ned and before he befriended MJ all your D&D campaigns were just the two of you. Each of you taking turns being a DM that way you each had experience with it. You’re the first person that he turns to he becomes Spider-Man and the only person he really trusts with all his secrets. There’s an endless supply of inside jokes that have come about from growing up together and he’s the easiest person to talk to about your emotions because you know he’s going to understand.
Tumblr media
Scott is king of the dorks if we’re being completely honest. He bombards everyone with a genuine kindness that takes some time to get used to. As soon as you do the two of you are fast friends, him being the willing ear you turn to when you need to rant about something nerdy or when you’re just bored and desire some conversation. While he’s not the only one who is insistent on getting you to open up emotionally to him when he can tell you’re holding back he is the one who will bother you non-stop about it through humor and just about any way he can. The two of you are often put together in teams because the two of you get along so well and Scott complains that no one else laughs at his jokes.
Tumblr media
You and Nat were often partnered together on missions which is really what led to your dating. Always being together meant learning about one another, from the simple things like favorite colors to telling one another things you’d long kept secret. Feelings were easy to come by for the both of you and Nat has a heavy amount of admiration for you which she doesn’t hesitate to make it known to you. Analyzing your threats and figuring out ways to eliminate them, something she deeply loves, among many other things. She finally feels safe when she’s with you and this is the rare time when she’ll let her guard down.
Tumblr media
Thor has learned from when you were young that you’re not one to open up about your emotions. He encourages it but will never pressure you, making it known that he’ll be there whenever you’d like to speak. Growing up he always made certain you understood what it meant to be a future leader of Asgard yet never pressuring you into accepting that role. You may be meant to inherit the throne technically yet he still sees an opportunity for you to turn away the throne if you wish. Neither of you have ever really attempted for you to control Mjolinor although he’s certain that if you called the hammer you would be found worthy. Thor’s always been protective of you although as you’ve grown he’s finally begun to accept that you’re able to protect yourself (still he’s going to worry and more often than not he’s going to step in to make sure you’re not hurt).

Cyber Sex||P.P
Pairing: Peter Parker × Reader
Warnings: Smutt(18+), Oral(Male and Female receiving), Masturbation, Swearing, Fluff and A Whole Lot of Awkwardness.
Summary: Michelle gives you an idea about filming yourself masturbating. You ask your best friend, Peter Parker to help you video it.
A/N: Yo, so I came up with this idea while listening to Cyber Sex by Doja Cat. Thanks for the follows and likes. Enjoy!!!
You sat in the cafeteria of Midtown High with your airpods stuffed in your ears listening to Cyber Sex by Doja Cat. You were addicted to the song from the first time you saw the video.
Everyone thought that you were stuck up but really your are just quiet and keep to yourself. The only people you let into your life was your friends Michelle, Ned and Peter. They were the only people that accepted your weird self.
"Hey bish. Listening to Cyber Sex again?" You pulled out your airpods.
"Ofcourse whore. I'm in love with this song and the video is great." You said pulling out your phone and replying to a few messages.
"Why don't you make a video that's similar to Cyber Sex?" Michelle suggested.
"That's crazy. And even if I do, who am I going to get to video it?" No one in their right mind would video someone masturbating. That's absurd.
"Get your bff to do it." She suggested with a smirk.
"You'll really do it?"
"No. I mean Peter." She suggested. Peter is your best friend but it would be too much to ask of him to video you. You had a crush on Peter. Who wouldn't. He is just so adorkable.
Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to ask him. He is a good guy maybe he will do it, or maybe he will be truly disgusted and never speak to you again. It's a risk you were going to take.
*****
You texted Peter and told him to come over. You didn't give him any reason. You put on one of his shirts that you stole and anxiously waited for him. Your parents were out on a date so this would be the perfect opportunity to do it.
Peter was nervous. He liked you too and was very inexperienced in this type of thing. He knew something was off when you told him to come over when your parents are out. You never did that because you never wanted the neighbours to think anything.
Peter arrived at your house at seven. He came into your room and found you sitting on your bed in nothing but your thong and his shirt. He couldn't deny how excited little Peter got(okay, not so little).
You had no idea how this simple action was turning him on. If we look at the facts, you both are nerds, barely any experience dating and totally oblivious to this kind of thing. Your panties were pooling with your wetness. Peter was just out on patrol so his hair was messy and slightly wet because he just took a shower.
"I need a favour." You croaked out. Your voice was shaky and soft. You had no idea how he was going to react and this could make your friendship awkward. "Can you video me masturbating with Cyber Sex playing in the background?" You bit your lip. It was a habit the you developed. When you were anxious you bit your lip.
That alone drove Peter crazy. His senses were of fire. He would be an idiot if he turned down your offer. All he has ever wanted to do was pin you down onto the mattress and watch you squirm and moan as he pounded into you. Although you didn't ask for sex, but he still got to watch you fuck yourself and cum.
"Okay." His answer suprised you. You thought that he would call you a slut and leave, never talking to you again. This made you happy. You handed him your phone and pressed play on the speaker. Cyber Sex by Doja Cat started to play. It was just loud enough to be recorded by the camera but it didn't drown out your moans.
You laid down flat on your back on your bed and spread your legs. You were nervous as fuck. You had never done this before. Sure, you had masturbated before but never on camera, and never with your best friend behind the camera. Why couldn't Peter be a girl.
"And action." You giggled at how seriously he was taking this. If you only knew how horny Peter was. He moved his sweats so you couldn't see his rock hard bulge. It would be too embarrassing for the both of you.
You slowly and sexily slid your panties down your legs and started playing with your clit. Peter gulped as soon as his eyes landed on your wet cunt. He felt the air get thicker and his cock started to hurt from being trapped in his pants.
You gently rubbed your clit and slowly inserted one finger into you. You pumped yourself and you hand slid under your shirt to play with your boobs. You were an average size. Maybe a B. You didn't have the biggest boobs but at least they were not plastic. Your moans and panting got louder as you approached your high. You slipped in another finger and shamelessly fucked yourself while your best friend recorded and watched.
The hair on Peter's neck was standing tall, so was his dick. It was becoming hard to hide his cock. He tried hard to not palm himself through his pants but he failed, miserably. You noticed what he was doing and you came loud.
"Oh fuck....Fuck Peter....ohh." Peter couldn't control himself anymore. He stood you phone against book on your table so that everything would still record. He watched as your hot cum leaked out of you. He wanted to taste it.
He kicked off his shoes and walked over to you. He smashed his lips to yours. This took you by surprise, but you didn't hesitate to kiss him back. He was inbetween your legs kissing the life out of you. He removed your shirt and you weren't even using a bra. His hands travelled down your body until they came in contact with your clit.
You arched your back when he skillfully rubbed and pinched your sensitive bud. His lips wandered down to your breast. His tongue nipped and sucked on your nipples. He kissed down your stomach until his lips reached your pussy. Peter stared at your heat as if it were the most tastiest thing he had ever seen. Peter looked at you, winking and licking his lips before diving in.
His tongue lapped in your juices. He savoured the taste of you, and slid two fingers in. You shamefully rid his tongue and fingers, enjoying every minute of it. Your toes curled as you hit your second orgasm, everything went white. When you came down from your high, Peter's mouth left your clit with a pop. You were breathing heavy as you slowly calmed yourself down.
You got up and stood on your knees, attaching you lips back on Peter's. You pulled his shirt off him, momentarily breaking the kiss. You hands wandered over his abs. They stopped at his bulge and you palmed him through his pants. He groaned into you mouth. You smirked against his lips, proud of the reaction you got out of him.
You pushed down his sweats and boxer briefs. He stepped out of them. You took his member in your hand and jerked him a few times. You licked a stripe on his lengthy cock. Peter threw his head back, enjoying the feeling of you jerking him off. You took him whole in your mouth and swirled your tongue on the tip of his dick. You had no idea where you learnt to do this but damn you were good.
You took him deep, you gagged a little when his dick hit the back of your throat. His hand fisted the hair at the back of your head as he bobbed your head back and forth. His hot cum shot down your throat. You let his dick fall from your mouth and wiped your lips with the back of your hand.
Peter, once again, pressed his lips to yours for a passionate kiss. "Do you trust me?" He asked staring deep into your eyes. "Yes. I do." You saw the twinkle in his brown orbs when you said that.
He pressed his lips against yours for a soft gentle kiss. He aligned himself with you. He knew you was a virgin, he himself was a virgin. He couldn't think of anyone else better to lose it to. You were the only girl he has had dreamed about like this.
He pushed himself into you, giving you time to adjust to his size. Peter was quite big, it was almost scary. He moved himself and then pulled out, watching your sweet pussy clench around fresh air. Maybe not so fresh air, the air in New York in polluted, it is everywhere, not the point.
He slammed back into you making you moan and your back arch. You couldn't help the sultry moans that left your lips.
"Fuck Pete. Right there. Fucking hell." You moaned as your walls clenched around him, squeezing him.
"So fucking tight princess. I love watching your pussy clench around my cock." He reached between your bodies and harshly rubbed your sensitive bud. Your eyes rolled back from the immense pleasure Peter was giving you.
"Pete, I'm gonna....I'm gonna cum." You managed to get out between your moans.
"Cum for me, baby." You released your juices all over Peter's cock. You almost blacked out, now that would be embarrassing. Peter came after, filling you up with his hot seed. Thankfully you were on the pill. He pulled out and collapsed next to you, out of breath.
"Y/N, I.." You cut him off. "I understand if you never want to talk to me again." You said covering yourself with your covers and looking down feeling ashamed.
"No. I like you, alot. We've been friends for ever. Will you be my girlfriend?" His boyish grin made you blush as you wrapped your arms around his neck. He didn't hesitate to hug you back. You felt safe in his arms, like you belonged there. Maybe you did.
"I like you too, Parker and yes, I'll be your girlfriend." You smashed you lips together for a sweet and passionate kiss and round two.

Duuuuude, your Rich Bitch fic sounds amazing, like I'm a sucker for those gala-Peter-is-overwelmed-and-out-of-his-element-needs-guidance/protection-and/or-embarrasses-himself kind of fics, but your whole thing sounds like such a fresh and new take on the popular trope, it's very interesting!! Therefore.... My next question IS: what about the "Pick up 5 + 1" - what's that about???
It was going to be “5 Times Tony Picked Peter Up And The 1 Time Peter Returned The Favor,” or something like that. If I remember correctly, my plan was to explore different connotations of the phrase “pick up.” For example, you can pick someone up emotionally, you can pick them up from a party, you can physically pick them up and carry them, etc. The +1 was going to be having Peter use his super-strength to save Tony’s life in an emergency. I couldn’t find the outline, which is buried in one of my notebooks, but that was essentially the idea.
And, since I’m probably never going to finish this (I think there’s already a fic that’s basically has this title, and that’s why I abandoned it) but since I did actually write about 1000 words of a first chapter/section, I’ll just slap it here for y’all to semi-enjoy.
Tony got the first text from Peter at the glorious time of 1:58 am.
He was, of course, not asleep. He was sitting at the kitchen island, munching on a post-midnight snack, but still. The principle remained.
The Kid: s o sThe Kid: im gnna call uThe Kid: plz say noThe Kid: then pick me upThe Kid: plz
He snorted, typing out his response with one hand while bringing his sandwich back up to his mouth with the other.
TS: got you
The Kid: ur the bestThe Kid: u’ll be on speakerphoneThe Kid: so… be cool be cool
A second later, his phone lit up with Peter’s contact picture. He let it ring a few times to give the impression that he was caught off guard, then answered it.
“What’s up, Pete?”
“Hey, Mister Stark.” To an untrained ear, Peter’s voice was as normal as could be. But Tony knew the kid well enough to detect the barest trace of discomfort. Wherever he was, he really didn’t want to be there. “I, uh, I have a question.”
“Shoot.”
“I know I’m supposed to be at the Tower by 2:30,” that wasn’t true, but he went along with it anyway, “but my friends and I really wanna go to get some food, so can I stay out later or do I really need to come back now?”
“No, Parker.” He made his voice sharp and stern, putting on the perfect show of over-strict-parent that he’d learned from Howard Stark himself. “I gave you a curfew, and I expect you to stick to it. No exceptions.”
He heard muffled voice in the background: obviously Peter’s friends trying to convince him to beg.
“Please, Mister Stark?”
“I said no, Peter.” He stood, and waved to F.R.I.D.A.Y. to shut down the lights as he headed for the elevator. “I’m coming to get you. Where are you?”
“Mister Stark.” Despite the over-exaggerated whine, he could sense the relief in Peter’s voice. “Please?”
“Don’t argue. You’re coming home.” He wandered out into the garage and lazily picked on of his older Audis. It was dark, and late, and he didn’t really feel like putting on too much of a show. “Now, are you going to give me an address, or do I have to track your phone?”
Peter groaned. Tony could swear he could hear him stomping his feet in the background. In all honesty, he was impressed by his dedication to the act. “Fine.”
The kid rattled off an address. F.R.I.D.A.Y. calculated that it would take him about 20 minutes to arrive, taking into account current traffic condition. He conveyed that back to Peter, then hung up.
As it turned out, the address Peter gave him was to a bodega on a random street corner on the westernmost side of Queens. He was loitering there with his friends, a little unsteady on his feet and cheeks flushed under the streetlight. A quick survey of group told Tony that these were not Peter’s usual crowd. No MJ or Ned in sight.
Plus, MJ and Ned would’ve never let the kid get tipsy. He hadn’t been able to hear it through the phone, but he could see it now. He felt a flash of annoyance at the kid for galivanting around the city whilst intoxicated in the early hours of the morning, but pushed it down. He’d done much worse, at Peter’s age, and he hadn’t had superpowers to back him up.
He rolled down his window and glared, trying to force as much parental anger into it as possible. “Peter Parker, get your ass in the car this instant.”
“Mister Stark,” one of the kids asked, staggering significantly more than Peter. Where Peter was just dipping his toe into the ocean of drunkenness, this kid was clearly trashed. “Are you sure that Peter can’t stay?”
“Absolutely positive.” He turned his attention back to Peter. “Come on, Parker. We have a lot to discuss.”
Peter waved a morose goodbye to his friends and stalked towards the car, yanking open the passenger side door, flinging himself into the seat, and slamming it shut behind him.
The kid pulled his seatbelt over himself, fumbling with it for a few seconds before Tony reached over and latched it for him, then slouched into the window with a huff.
“I’m saying something really rude to you right now,” the kid snapped.
He put the car in drive, checked his mirror, then floored it while flickering an artificially disapproving look in Peter’s direction. “And I’m telling you that if you speak to me like that again, you’re grounded.”
They turned off on a different block, Peter’s friends disappearing around the bend.
Peter let out a laugh, false tension melting away. He pulled away from the window and shot Tony a lopsided thumbs up. “You’re the best at that.”
“At what?”
“At pretending to be pissed.”
He shot a sidelong glance at Peter, briefly considered stringing him along and pretending to actually be mad, then discarded it in favor of matching his smile. “Yeah, well, you’re not too bad yourself. Even if you are drunk.”
“I’m not that drunk.”
“No,” he agreed. “Although I’d love to know how much you had to drink to get there.”
“Oh, my god, Tony,” Peter said, seeming to take Tony’s easy demeanor and running with it. “So much. Like, a scary amount.”
He shot him a sidelong glace, just on the edge of disproving. The kid still shrank underneath it. “Not exactly my favorite thing you’ve ever told me.”
Peter winced. “Am I, uh, am I in trouble?”
“No,” he sighed. “It’s alright. We’ve all been there. Just, uh, just maybe don’t drink on street corners at 2:00 am, yeah? Just for my poor heart’s sake.”
“We didn’t drink on the street corner.”
“You’re not helping yourself.”
“I’m just telling you the truth!”
“Yeah, y’know what? Sometimes I kinda wish that you’d do a little less of that.”
“C’mon, don’t say that. I’m a model child.” Peter went quiet for a second, then nudged his arm from across the center console, tone dipping into something much more sincere. “Thanks for getting me, Mister Stark. Honestly, I was pretty bored.”
He smiled, eyes still fixed on the road, but watching the kid stare at him in his peripheral.
“Anytime, kid. I’m way cheaper than an Uber, anyway.”
“And much nicer,” Peter added.
He laughed. “Oh, I’d better be.”

Chapter 3 Body and Soul (Crimson)
Warnings: None (future nsfw)
A/N: Hello guys! Sorry for the delay, what happens is that I was a little busy with some personal things but I'm back.
I will try to update twice a week and each time as we progress through the story, make the chapters longer. Another thing is I didn't notice that the previous chapter i published the draft instead of the final version. Which had many otorgraphic and writing errors. But it's already corrected. If you find something let me know so I can fix it. Also I am very happy for all the support, thank you for your lovely comments. Another thing, Do you want me to create a tag list?. Please tell me in the comments. That's all I wanted to say. Enjoy your reading! 🖤
Chapter 3(Crimson)
Lost in my thoughts, I walked towards the exit of the building while i was looking at the sky with some concern. It wouldn't be long before the sun rise.
And honestly, I was very scared. I did'nt know anyone in this city and didn't know what time it was in the area. My life was in danger and although I was sure that I still had time based on what the sky looked like.
I was still very worried about not knowing what time it was exactly. Looking at my watch was in vain. It was scheduled for London time not New York.
I was very nervous but I had to calm down. So i calculated that there were 2 hours left until the sun rise. And although it sounds like it's a lot of time, I don't know how much traffic there is in this city. And I needed to be in the nearest hotel as soon as posible.
Again I was so lost in my thoughts that I did not notice that a taxi parked in front of me, it was not until I heard the drivers voice that I noticed it.
—Good night miss, are you waiting for someone else? Or do you need me to take you somewhere? —
Hearing that question made me feel more relaxed again.
—Sure, I actually have nowhere to go. Could you recommend a hotel near here. One with good facilities. The price point doesn’t matter but I really need to get a good place to relax, preferably the closest hotel to the airport.—
I told him as I opened the door and carried my suitcase.
—Of course ma'am, in fact we are close to many good hotels. They are a few streets away. Would you like me to take you to see the exteriors and based on how they look you choose one?. I assure you that they are all very good, some more than others but none are bad. —
The man smiled while he waited for my answer.
I sighed feeling realised.
—Yes please, I would like it very much. —
The man laughed as he drived the car.
—You are not from here are you? I can tell by your accent. —
I nodded as i looked out the window. Analyzing the area I was in.
—That's right, I'm from London. I was transferred from my job. —
—That's so interesting. Sounds like fun to have a job where you travel a lot. —
—Well yeah you're not wrong. But I also needed to start a new life. —
I confessed while we entered to a large avenue with many buildings with hotels and apartments. Some were prettier than others. But nothing look bad about them.
—Is one of you liking? Or do you want me to go further so you can see more options?. —
The truth is that I could already choose one of the many hotels that were on the street. And I couldn't be so demanding, since i needed a safe place away from natural light as soon as possible. But a hunch told me to accept the man's proposal.
—Sure, I think we can see a few more options.—
No matter how much the car moved forward, nothing interested me. It wasn't until we reached the corner of the avenue that a large black building with Victorian architecture caught my attention. On the outside it had an ad with red calligraphy that said "Crimson".
—Stop here, I like this one. —
I pointed to the old building.
—I’m sorry to tell you this, but that hotel is very strict. They do not allow the entry to anyone who doesn't have a membership. It has already happened several times that I leave people here and they end up removing them from the place.—
—Don't worry I will try to enter. If i can´t then I’ll choose one of the hotels that are on this street. How much do I owe you? —
—If you insists, it’s $30 dollars.—
I nodded as I handed over his money.
—Thank you very much, also keep the change. —
I took my suitcase and closed the car's door as I approached the entrance of the building. However I was stopped at the door by a very tall man with brown hair and grey eyes.
— Good night, Miss. Could you give me your membership please. —
Embarrassed, I bit my lower lip and then proceeded to do something I didn't wanted.
—You're going to let me in no matter the rules of the place or what your bosses say. —
I smiled already knowing the results of my action. The man nodded and then open the door for me.
Once inside I noticed that a tall girl with black hair and violet eyes smiled at me as she applauded me.
—That was so wesome, Alice. Just as I expected, James didn't cause you any trouble. —
The girl approached very excited.
—Who are you and why do you know my name?—
I asked very confused and feeling insecure. Since she was aware of what I had just done and the worst thing was that she knew my name. This was getting very strange and I was not liking it.
—I am Grace Crimson. Owner of the hotel and great friend of your Boss Nat. —
—Do you know Nat? —
I said in a very incredulous voice.
—Of course Alice. But hey that is the least important thing right now, let me show you your room and I give you Nats phone number so you can call her.—
While I was trying to process the information, one of the attendants took my suitcase.
—Did Nat tell you in any way that I will come here? —
She just laughed at my question.
— I knew you'd say that. Don't be silly, honey. You are acting like a newborn vampire in the clan. Look dear, I'll explain. I can see the future. Today I had a vision of you in which I saw you giving orders to my guard right outside my hotel. It should be noted that I was concerned, because I didn't knew who you were, so I called all the offices until I found some information about you. To at least make sure that you weren't dangerous to us and to be able to take the necessary measures. By the way, I don't want you to feel bad about what I told you. But these are difficult times and we must take care of each other. —
Of course she was right, what a fool I was. I have been so involved in my personal feelings and problems that I overlook the fact that many in our community have that ability.
—Don't worry, it's okay Grace. I understand. I know how the security protocol works. And I also understand perfectly that you investigated me and that you needed to know who I was. —
I confessed.
—I already knew you were going to say that tho. Hey you are more friendly and understanding than I expected from someone who can control people's minds with their voice. No ofence but your kind is usually a very pretentious. —
I couldn't help laughing at that comment.
—I was like that many years ago, but someone changed me. I try not to abuse my powers too much, only when it’s necessary. —
I lowered my gaze to caress a silver ring with a red diamond that I had on my ring finger.
When she saw how my mood changed, she immediately hug me.
—Don't torment yourself over the past. —
She took me by the hand to walk me through those long corridors of the building. I must admit that I felt a little emotional. The place reminded me a lot of my grandmother's house.
—Here is your room, as you can see it is very spacious, it has a king size bed, living room, bathroom with a bathtub and a beautiful balcony. Also here is Nat's phone number. And don't forget to close all the curtains including the ones on the bed. —
She handed me the keys, a red card and a pos it with Nat’s new number.
—James leave the suitcase on her bed. —
The man obeyed her order and put the suitcase on my bed.
—Sure Grace. Thank you very much for all the hospitality. It has been a long time since I felt welcomed in a place. —
She smiled
—I know we are going to be very good friends. —
After that she closed the door behind me.
It's amazing how someone's life could change in an instant.
One day you are in London crying for your ex and the next day you are in New York and you're dreaming with a man who doesn’t even exist.
Thinking about that, I began to close all the curtains in the room and then i took the phone from the bureau next to the bed.
With some fear I called her, I knew that she would be very upset with me. But i had to do it.
—Hey nat it's me, Alice. —
—You are an idiot, I was so worried! Never do that to me ever again! I thought you wanted to kill yourself or something like that...
You sounded so sad. God you have take some therapy you can't continue living like this...—
I sigh very annoyed.
— Anyway, I already spoke with Bruce and he already gave you permission to work in New York. And before I forget to tell you this. Tomorrow you have a job to do. I need you in a bar, we think we found someone who can serve us for the clan. You will have to go to a concert near a local bar in the town. Grace will leave you the papers with the man's information.—
—Perfect. By the way, thank you very much for the favor. You don't know how grateful I am with you. Anyways, I will leave you, I am very tired and I would like to sleep as much as possible to be in the best possible conditions tomorrow—
—Of course dear. Have a good night. —
Grateful to Nat, I hung up the call and then closed my eyes. But not without first remembering Peter's beautiful green eyes.
