Hi! I have a sort of strange question about the Sandman that I hope is ok to ask :) I’m waiting for season two before reading the comics so my current fics have all been based around what we’ve seen in the show. Yet I’m also branching out into work that covers more of what the Dreaming is like/how it functions, and aside from my own interpretation I’m trying to research what’s canon while trying to avoid spoilers.
This is a very rambling way of getting to my point! But I was wondering what other dreams/nightmares might appear next season? Or if you have any favourites that might be interesting to look into? As for what the Dreaming is like, I know there are different parts to it, but I’m curious about how much of that we see in the comics/might see in the show.
Thanks for the ask!
Oh, that’s such a tricky question to answer because it is wholly based on assumptions of what S2 will be like. And from all that has leaked so far, I am assuming the following and trying to keep the spoilers vague:
a) We will get Season of Mists
b) We will get parts of A Game of You, strongly altered compared to the comics and probably interwoven with SoM
c) We will get The Song of Orpheus and Thermidor
d) We will get at least the start of Brief Lives
It’s tricky to say what other one shots we might get, so I’m leaving them out just now.
So based on that and with regard to dreams and nightmares: I don’t think any new major ones I’m afraid. The Corinthian will be out until The Kindly Ones if they stick roughly with the comics, so will Fiddler’s Green. It wouldn’t surprise me though if they gave Stephen Fry more screen time, and it would work. He might also have smaller appearances in one-shots like Soft Places if we get them. I don’t think the Corinthian will reappear earlier than TKO though for narrative reasons.
Lucienne, Merv and Matthew will be there obviously. Gault—not sure, if they stick with when Brute & Glob appeared in the comics, that’ll be her arc done.
Cain and Abel will definitely be back, but they’re quite strictly speaking not dreams. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll get to see Eve, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Lucienne at least gets part of her “job”, so to speak.
Alianora might get a teensy appearance in AGoY, but she’s quite strictly speaking not a dream either. She’s a good one for fics though because her and Morpheus’ story is woefully underexplored.
Maybe we’ll get more Martin Tenbones, that’d depend on how they do AGoY. Same goes for other inhabitants of the Land, like Luz and Wilkinson (and the Cuckoo I guess?). I’m really not sure how much of that we’ll get. Also, they’re not much use if you want characters that are anthropomorphic because they’re not.
And then there are obviously minor characters like the Gatekeepers, Goldie, Taramis etc.
But I’m afraid that you’ve already met most of the dreams and nightmares in S1.
You’ll be dealing far more with gods, demi-gods, angels, demons and fae from now on. And you could write about many of them, and some are really interesting and very important for the overall arc.
As for what the Dreaming is like: You’ll get glimpses in SoM, you’ll also get more glimpses in AGoY (again depending on what they decide to give us). Brief Lives is mostly set in the Waking (although there’s some back and forth and scenes set in dreams), so is Thermidor, so is much of Song of Orpheus.
I don’t know if that answers your questions at all, feel free to ask more specific ones if I haven’t answered them.

ME SEEING THAT ONE THREAD WITH BLACKWALL: REAL FUCKING RICH COMING FROM YOU SOLAS. REAL FUCKING RICH
;))))
solas definitely sees the irony dw, although like. to mildly defend solas here, his terrible mistakes have never been self-motivated. like it’s telling of his character that the most selfish thing he’s done lately is fall in love. the guilt that drives him is of a completely different nature than blackwall’s, owed to a cause and a people rather than something done out of greed and cowardice. he outlines the differences between them best himself (emphasis mine):
Solas: There is little to say. I assumed we were alike. We’d seen war, knew its terrible costs, but understood that it was necessary. But there was nothing necessary in what you did. You did not survive death and destruction. You sowed them. To feed your own desires.
in blackwall’s crime he sees the acts of people he fought against in elvhenan. and rather than accept punishment, he ran, and his soldiers paid the price. betraying one’s own people is a really big deal for solas, who at this point in canon seems to desperately want to stop what he’s doing, but can’t. why? well, probably several reasons, although i think one is certainly that stopping would be a betrayal of them. that blackwall left them to save his own skin only compounds upon his anger that the initial crime was the killing of innocents for coin.
he might also be a liar, but he has a right to be angry. in a longer thread those conflicting feelings could prob be better explored, although i do enjoy banter. in that last response in particular he’s actually paying him a compliment, and agreeing with the faith the inquisitor put in blackwall in a roundabout way.he also has a decent perspective of how to use guilt as a self-motivator without allowing it to overwhelm, seeing as his own hasn’t stopped him yet. also, he does also apologise, once his own anger as ebbed. both because i think he reflects upon his own situation more and he genuinely thinks blackwall thom rainier deserves some forgiveness, there is no lie nor greed in the man who stands before him.

Thoughts that literally kept me up last night. I always browse my explore page on Insta before I finally stow away the phone. The last post I saw was one where something pointed out a cameo in a Disney Pixar movie. That thought came to a tangent where it came to Tales of Arcadia and their cameos. And I swear to goodness, I still have the continued insistence that this series in set in the same universe of How to Train Your Dragon.
In 2018 I made a post where I literally went through all of Trollhunters and drew out each cameo and compared them to DreamWorks Dragons. I’ll admit, I can’t think of any right now that stood out to me in 3Below and Wizards. But the fact that 3Below and Wizards are literally still set in the same universe with the same characters, I feel it still applies.
And to this day, I’m still trying to fight myself. Debunk it that it’s another DreamWorks thing, and it’s essentially what Disney does with their movies and shows. DreamWorks movies do their handful of cameos as well, but I’d like to say not as extensive as Disney, and to a further extent Disney Pixar. I guess you can say this will be a DreamWorks vs. Disney post.
It’s not like Disney where we catch a glimpse of Rapunzel and Eugene as they walk through the opened gates in Frozen, or the Woody and Buzz piñatas in Coco, or the little elephants wearing Anna and Elsa dresses in Zootopia, or the Pizza Planet car in Monster’s Inc. and a majority of Disney Pixar movies.
DreamWorks movies, perhaps I haven’t paid as good attention to detail, but there’s few I remember. If someone remembers any, please tell me. I strongly want to know. Of the few I think of Penguins of Madagascar where Classified says to release the sheep and what’s shoved out of the barn is a sheep that looks like the ones from HTTYD. Then in Rise of the Guardians, where in Jamie’s bedroom you can see a dragon plush, said to be a Monstrous Nightmare, so also HTTYD. But otherwise they’ve slipped my mind.
Sorry I’ll bring this back to Tales of Arcadia. Okay, so I say that they are in the same universe because of the many DreamWorks Dragons cameos. I’ll give the link here as to the cameos I found in Trollhunters. There are seven I listed in that post, and there are two more I’d like to add now. In the literal first episode of Trollhunters, you see Toothless on the screen of a laptop.
The most notable one is in Season 2 when Draal, AARRGGHH!!!, and Blinky play Maces&Talons together. That one, when I saw it is when the notion started forming in my head. Because even though they do cameos, you never see the characters actively engage with it. And that’s what these characters did! They were so engaged in this game that they called attention to themselves with the yelling! Although I do have the inkling, that they probably weren’t playing it right. In the few scenes of Race to the Edge where we see it played, I don’t remember seeing cards beside the board. Heather and Fishlegs simply moved the pieces without much discussion. In the live person game Viggo and Dagur played it seemed like chess, I move this piece and now these players are vulnerable, then your turn. How the trolls played it, it gave off the vibe of Dungeons&Dragons. I’ll post the visual so y’all can see.
Tumblr media
Which with my mindset implies this: The trolls may have found a game set of Maces&Talons with these cards alongside it, and interpreted the game was played in a different way. Or even provided their own additions. Because in RTTE we definitely never see dice, and there were never cards visible. I will concede that we weren’t given a detailed explanation of how exactly the game was played. But look at the board, those are the same figurines we see, the same placing of the rock and mock water. There can be no mistaking it’s a game board of Maces&Talons.
The only other cameo I can think that sort of compares to this one is when Boo hands Sulley a Nemo squeak toy in Monster Inc. Engagement with a cameo. But that was a single second where it squeaked he put it in his hands and that was that.
The other was a very active scene where you first heard the yelling and the cries, hear Blinky’s enjoyment and then the pounding of the table. It was intentional in getting your attention, and if you’re a viewer who’s also seen RTTE, you would’ve thought “OMG that’s Maces&Talons, these trolls are playing it in this modern day?”
Individually, I will admit you could say there was another reason the cameos were included. But the reason why I believe the strong suggestion that they’re the same universe is because there were so many, and so obvious too. Toothless obviously put in the shot so you couldn’t miss it, then AARRGGHH!!!, Blinky, and Draal, playing a game so obviously that you knew it was important. (if you had seen the other show). Here’s the thing though, the cameos were strictly of HTTYD. Not of other DreamWorks shows or movies. I will admit there may have been a Madagascar one, from the scene where Otto said they had a piece of the Bridge sent over from Madagascar. The mention seems like a cameo, because they really could have chosen any cryptic place but chose a place where DreamWorks has had a hand in.
Then another thing that I consider a cameo, was actually one of the new characters introduced in Wizards. I am going to be writing my thoughts again if I write out the whole thing, so I’ll link another post where I talked about it here. To summarize, it discusses Archie the Familiar, how the voice actor is Alfred Molina. Who voiced Viggo Grimborn in Race to the Edge. Evidence provided in the post where the familiar could be Viggo reincarnated. To me it makes sense. And it really does seem utterly convenient that they cast Molina for another character with the exact same voice he used for Viggo.
I mean Mark Hamill who voiced Alvin the Treacherous in DreamWorks Dragons also voiced Dictatious but the voices don’t sound similar in the least. I don’t hear Dictatious and say omg the voice is uncanny to Alvin. But with Molina, I hear Archie and I can picture those words seamlessly coming out of Viggo’s mouth. Nothing differing in the voices. While with Hamill and the characters he voiced, yes he indeed used different voices. But Archie and Viggo legit sound the same.
I will also admit it this as it crossed my mind, when you reincarnate you don’t remember anything from your past life. And usually, I can bet you don’t sound like the person in your past life. However I do want to outline this. In Wizards there really isn’t a mention of Vikings, suggesting it’s after the Viking times. And here’s also another thing about reincarnation. The new life you’re born into, it’s certainly distanced enough where you aren’t around anyone who knew your past life. So there is the possibility that your voice is the same as your past life. There’s no one around who can point it out.
I also can bring this to another extent. As is a voice actor, it depends on the crew you’re working with to determine how you bring a character to life. For RTTE, of the little that’s been released for behind the scenes it was revealed that the voice actors were allowed to improvise for their characters, as they knew who they voiced best. Meaning Molina was given the freedom to voice Viggo as he saw fit, hence why we were given “My dear Hiccup.” So the voice we heard for Viggo was how Molina wanted to animate this character. Yet, we have no way of guessing if Molina was allowed that same courtesy when voicing Archie. Based on the similarities these two characters had, perhaps Molina was asked to use the same voice.
But I have to say that even if he chose it or was asked to use that voice, it fuels my belief. Because the crew of Tales of Arcadia put in all those HTTYD cameos. To wind into specifics, the Maces and Talons board. And then later they put a character who sounds like the character who wound that board game into reality. It locks it in for me.
But yeah, this was why I struggled to fall asleep.

(Imperialism etc anon) Ok I get where you're coming from! Thank you for being understanding. While Zutara is obviously not inherently racist or anything there are zutara interpretations that *are* racist (example: fire lady katara which I can get into) and it does need to be acknowledged that Zuko's status as fire nation royalty does create a power imbalance between him and Katara. Now, this is a conversation that has a lot of nuance to it but it seems like the people harassing you are (1/2)
(2/2) just repeating some genuine critique they saw without understanding what it means just to say that they're right, harassing people in the process. I did not have that context when sending that first ask and I apologize, since anons harassing you and others are clearly doing it out of bad faith. I just didn't like the leveraging of concepts that really matter in real life (colonialism, etc), ykwim? But I get what you were trying to do.
hey anon I’m finally getting to you after 84 years XD
so first off, I want to be careful about how I approach this because I understand that as a white person (even if my ancestors experienced imperialism) in the US I absolutely benefit from imperialism and don’t want to like, idk, whitesplain XD so if anyone gets annoyed with any way I say anything, just lmk and I’ll rework it. and I also do understand that these are real world issues that are far more consequential than messaging in media (although I do think it’s very important that we challenge messages in media because of media’s influence on our thinking and politics).
but before I talk about zuko and his relationship to fire nation imperialism, and then later fire lady katara and why it isn’t INHERENTLY racist but definitely can be, I want to talk about the atla fandom and how we got here. like, why I assume that most anons who come at zutara shippers are asshats acting in bad faith. if you already know fandom history, skip this section.
1. atla and the fandom has always been kind of shitty and racist
so IDK if everyone is familiar with the history of the ship war in atla fandom, but it’s regarded as one of the nastiest ship wars in fandom history which I agree lol. atla’s creators were some of the first to interact with the fandom the way they did - back then it wasn’t all that common for creators to get into twitter feuds with fans and boundaries were respected more than they are now imo. but for better or worse, and it is a mixed bag, bryke interacted with fandom a lot. certainly at cons but also on social media.
but honestly things really got extra mean in fan spaces when bryke made a “joke” atla season 4 slideshow out of fan art (some of which was really sexual in nature and totally inappropriate) that mocked fans’ creations, but especially zutara fanart and zutara itself. it was pretty tasteless especially considering how most zutara fans were teen girls, and featured some art of sokka saying that if you think zuko and katara would be good together, you’re doomed to have failed relationships. that’s where the whole “dark and mysterious” bs came from, which does describe some zutara fic but not even most of it lol. I actually do respect bryke a lot despite my criticism of them, but I don’t think I’ll ever get over that shit. like even if you hate zutara, even if it’s a joke, we were kids. and they were adults, and the whole thing was nasty.
however, the ship war was chaotic and messy, but it does feel worse now. maybe it’s because back then the fandom was MOSTLY teens and kids, and I don’t think that’s true now. we were all trying to prove our ship was best with like, content from the show and theories and all that, and now it’s like... whose ship is ~problematic lol it’s a show by white us americans appropriating from various cultures impacted negatively by us/british imperialism that they then profited off of, of course it’s racist. that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t talk about that, and in fact many poc have been saying this shit for years - that atla is racist and colorist at many times (guru pathik anyone?) and no one really listened.
if fans are complaining only about zutara, then I’m automatically writing them off as being insincere or ignorant. and since most of these people are anonymous, I have no idea if they are having substantive discourse about colorism in avatar or cultural appropriation (even if it is mostly appreciative). if you are on anon, I have no context about what you actually think except for what you give me. and that definitely is how I view anons in general but especially within the atla fandom because for all 13-ish years I’ve been in it, it’s been messy. that’s why zutara fans have isolated ourselves from the rest of fandom, because the rest of fandom has been really nasty to us. like did we give back some nastiness? absolutely.
but I would hazard a guess that most anti-zutara shippers don’t know about the conversations we have had in this community to make it safer for people of color, conversations that centered poc and woc especially. hey, that’s okay - not to compare zutara to r*ylo because eurgh but like, idk what discourse the r*ylos have about their community. no idea, I don’t go looking for it. and I don’t go to the tags and harass r*ylos - even though they harass the fuck out of everyone else.
2. so zuko and his privilege
undoubtedly zuko as fire lord is in a fairly privileged position LMFAO. but during the show zuko is very clearly exiled - he holds very little political power in the fire nation EXCEPT for during the first season when he is in command of a ship that ozai gave him on a punishment quest lol like yeah he does terrible things and he of all people would not excuse his actions even if he was a traumatized kid, that’s the point of his arc - that he got some exposure to the rest of the world and worked to be better. and the only reason he was exiled at all was because he cares about people - he didn’t question fire nation supremacy at 13, but he sure did question the morality of his people being lead to slaughter.
but after zuko and iroh defect from the fire nation and stop hunting aang, he has next to no power, in any kind of way. like the guy is a political refugee. and yes, he goes back to the fire nation for like five minutes before realizing that he hates everything about fire nation hegemony and that he wants to end his father’s reign of terror, like that isn’t exactly someone who is going to be well esteemed by the powerful elites when he returns and takes the throne.
and I disregard the comics because they suck lol but zuko does have power as the fire lord, but he limits his power. like compared to ozai, phoenix asshole? azula? for the rest of the world, zuko is kind of an ideal leader for a former colonizing/imperialistic nation to have - someone who worked to end that tyranny, who is anti-imperialist, who believes in justice and equality, who wants to make things right for the peoples who his family oppressed.
I do think it is important to talk about power dynamics and imbalances in relationships - for instance, one could argue that mai is at a significant disadvantage in her relationship with zuko. sure she is from a powerful family but not as powerful as zuko’s. sokka? hah forget it. he’s just as disadvantaged as katara is politically speaking. toph? well, she’s definitely not as powerful politically as zuko - her family tried to silence her for years because of her disability. and oh, she’s disabled so it might be ableist for zuko to strike up a relationship with her when they’re both adults. forgetting of course that toph and sokka and katara and suki and mai are not going to be shy about their wants and needs, that these relationships are not likely to be coercive by nature of the show they’re in and the characters they involve. this is not bill clinton with monica creepiness. like, you’d have to write the relationship that way.
the only person who arguably has more political power than zuko is aang. I guess zuko can’t ever be in a relationship with anyone other than aang. and zuko’s family massacred aang’s people so I guess we can’t ship zukaang. now I know you’re not saying that, context matters. power dynamics are important. but you can’t take away the agency of characters - katara, who is essentially a princess, has agency and can choose who she wants to be with. strictly speaking, aang is more powerful than anyone in terms of political power - he’s the avatar - and of course the dynamic is different by nature of aang not being from a line of oppressors, but there still is a power imbalance in their relationship. and I don’t know how many k/ataang shippers have discourse~ on that. not that I really feel like they NEED to, um idk what they talk about lol I’m not in those circles.
3. fire lady katara is in the eye of the beholder
so fire lady katara is not inherently bad or racist, it’s essentially like saying michelle obama shouldn’t have been first lady of the us (now I get that like the obamas being in power didn’t mean black people are not marginalized lol). you can have conversations about whether or not individual versions of fire lady katara are fucked up, and I’m superrrr open to that because I’ve seen it be kinda shitty before. i’m just gonna leave this link to @shewhotellsstories and her post on this.
but often times katara as fire lady is very dominant in global/fire nation/water tribe politics, she’s a game changer ambassador (that is probably the most popular headcanon I see), she holds on to her culture (and many fans have designed her being in her wt colors, zuko is respectful af to her, she and zuko spend extended periods in the swt, etc. like... it just depends on the way it’s written.
also leaving this response by @avatarnerdkiller to the idea of katara being a prize figurehead.
anyway, thanks for your patience anon and I am curious to see if you see this or even feel like responding after all this time XD

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
Tumblr media
THE MUSE - Hakudoshi (Inuyasha)
THE MUN - Eleanor / Ellie / El
Fill out & repost! This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm.
My muse is: Canon / OC / AU / Canon-divergent / Fandomless.
It's a mix of these three, the character itself is canon but I have a bunch of AUs and Canon Divergents verses although I also write him within his Canon Verse
Is your character popular in the fandom? YES / NO.
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom? YES / NO.
Is your character considered strong in the fandom? YES / NO.
I am not sure how the fandom views him in this regard, while he is one of the strongest incarnations, he isn't even on the level of either Inuyasha or Sesshomaru. So, kinda I guess?
Are they underrated? YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main story? YES / NO.
To the story as a whole no, but he was relevant during a few arcs because of his connection to Naraku and the works he was sent to do.
Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO.
How’s their reputation? GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL.
How strictly do you follow canon?
Depends on the characters he is interacting with. With the main group (Inu & Co.) and with the other incarnations with whom he has interacted in canon material (Kanna, Kagura, The Infant) I pretty much stick it to canon as much as I can, though I have my own interpretation of his character in certain stuff.
But there are characters he never met or barely interacted with in canon (Koga, Kikyo, Sesshomaru, etc) so in these I go overboard and mostly "ignore" canon, and let my own imagination interpret how their interactions would go, while trying to keep him as the villain he is but without making the interactions short or boring.
Then I have a bunch of AUs and Canon Divergent verses which I love to dive in and allows me to stray away from canon for the most part (i.e: he doesn't die, he doesn't betray Naraku, etc). Two of my favorite Canon Divergent threads are those where he ends up traveling with Sesshomaru after escaping from Naraku or the one where a mother-son bond slowly forms between him and Kikyo.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.
He is a child and a child can still change his personality a lot even if they started out as a villain.
He is very intelligent, knows how to take precautions if/when things go wrong. In my opinion that makes him a good ally as much as it makes him a dangerous antagonist.
Canon didn't explore many sides of him and I'm more than willing to do that so plotting with me can become fun, even if some ideas might sound weird.
Although he was initially one of Naraku's most loyal incarnations and followed his orders, he can be self-serving (and in my eyes that's a good and bad thing) and can choose to take a different path from the initial plan even if that goes against his creator's goal and ends up benefiting the "good guys"
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?)
He is a villain and villains can be a little hard to handle and to create long threads with, without making it sound repetitive.
He can be quite creepy and perhaps a little annoying.
He has no qualms in his actions, doesn't possess empathy, doesn't care how many people were hurt or killed by his actions.
He is manipulative, although not as much as his creator, and more than capable of betrayal. Trusting him can be quite difficult especially after everything he did.
What inspired you to RP your muse?
Hakudoshi was always my favorite in the entire series, don't ask why, he just was, for some reason I was always drawn to him everytime he was on screen. His personality though sometimes difficult to portray can be interesting to explore, especially when aside from the fact that he is evil, there weren't any other sides of him shown which leaves a bunch of open doors for interpretation.
What keeps your inspiration going?
Dreams, random ideas and of course the other roleplayers I have interacted with so far.
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
While I am aware that I have choose to portray a villain, I enjoy to try and step a bit out of the typical "I hate you and you hate me" troop when it comes to interactions with the "good guys", not saying that we shouldn't portray that, we definitely SHOULD because he has hurt many people and I don't expect other Muses to suddenly get along with mine but all I want is to try and step a bit more out of it so that we can create an interesting and enjoyable thread together.
An example I like to use for this, within the canon verse, is two threads I currently have with two different Inuyasha muses, in which we created an interesting set up for Inuyasha and Hakudoshi to interact, one that keeps the threads on-going smoothly, while keeping the obvious fact neither can stand the other because that's how their relationship is.
Do you think you give your character justice? YES / NO.
Depends on my mood and depends on the thread. There are many times I wonder if I'm making him "evil enough" or if I'm making him OOC.
Do you frequently write headcanons? YES / NO.
Do you sometimes write drabbles? YES / NO. But I am thinking of doing a prompt thing once a month for that! To help me with my writing skills.
Do you think a lot about your muse during the day? YES / NO.
Are you confident in your portrayal? YES / NO.
There are times I doubt it, other times I'm good with it.
Are you confident in your writing? YES / NO.
Are you a sensitive person? YES / NO.
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?
I'm open to constructive criticism all the time.
Being plain rude however it's a no for me.
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?
I LOVE getting asks, they help me not just build my portrayal of the Muse but also provides me with many headcanon ideas.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?
As I wrote above there are times I doubt my portrayal and also I am open to constructive criticism, so if someone disagrees with my portrayal I am more than open to receive tips on how I could get better.
Disagreeing with my portrayal just to be plain rude though, I'll pass. I don't want drama and I've created this RP blog to have fun and to escape a little from the problems in real life.
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?
Eh I'm fine with it? Hakudoshi is a villain and a secondary character, I won't expect everyone to like him and I respect that. I just ask others to equally respect my liking for this character.
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?
Yes I am, again I'm full open to constructive criticism. While I feel quite comfortable with my English, it's not my first language so errors are bound to happen.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?
I am very shy and not exactly a big social butterfly, however I do like to talk to others that love the series/characters/etc as much as I do so DMs and Discord are open for that stuff too, not just plotting!

My muse is:   canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless /
Is your character popular in the fandom?  YES / NO. Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. (It depends? I think she’s gorgeous lol) Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. (She should be and I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise) Are they underrated?  YES / NO. Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO. Were they relevant for the main character?  YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG. (cue argument that Ichigo and Rukia are two halves of a main protag) Are they widely known in their world?  YES / NO. How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. How strictly do you follow canon?  —  I follow canon pretty much up to the last few chapters (although I do rp the ending ship as well) so it’s really flexible within canon. Ichiruki is my OTP but RenRuki is my second favorite. I do not believe Rukia would have been fine with everything going back to “status quo” in the Soul Society so that’s where I refuse to follow canon at all.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  Rukia is one of the most selfless characters in this series. She would not hesitate to risk her life to save a stranger. She doesn’t tolerate bullying or any abuse of power. Frequently she puts the needs of others above her own. Rukia takes her duties as a soul reaper very seriously but is not a blind rule follower. If a rule doesn’t match her morals, she’ll ignore it. She’ll come across like a noble (because she technically is one by adoption) but she can go from sipping plum wine elegantly in a super expensive silk kimono that will take your breath away to pickpocketing your valuables, sweeping your legs out from under you and fighting dirty. Can you ask for more?
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  — Well she’s not particularly striking physically. She’s very small and doesn’t look very intimidating. Rukia is also not very friendly naturally. This doesn’t mean she’s rude, she just doesn’t let very many people into her inner circle. She’s not very physically affectionate with those outside her group and is a little awkward with receiving it from others. Also while Rukia doesn’t lie, she would say somewhat neutral things rather than hurt someone’s feelings. I think some of the fandom might think she’s weak and constantly just getting rescued by someone stronger than her, I severely disagree with this (and have words for Kubo about that). Her bankai I think is one of the most powerful but in a quiet way. (No one else has to actually die for the bankai, do they? Yeah, she’s bad ass.)
What inspired you to rp your muse?  —   When I first started watching Bleach, I connected with Rukia instantly on a very personal level. I loved everything about her and she resonated with me a lot. I feel like I can understand her easily and it just flowed. When I first joined the RPC, there was no question as to which character I would be doing. She’s the only one I’ve very really roleplayed. I cosplay her at cons and I just love everything about her, flaws and all.
What keeps your inspiration going?  —   Honestly, that connection did not waver, even during my hiatus. I love the fan art and fan fics, head canons, etc. I love exploring her character and developing her beyond what Kubo gave us.
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO. ( I hope) Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO. (YES and I love it) Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO. Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day?  YES / NO. Are you confident in your portrayal?   YES / NO. (sometimes?) Are you confident in your writing?  YES / NO. (sometimes?) Are you a sensitive person?  YES / NO. Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?  — ahh so I take criticism super personally even when I know it’s not meant so I guess it depends on the delivery? I will probably mull it over for a few days before the sting is gone. So if you have some, just be nice? lol
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?  —  YES YES YES! I absolutely love head canons and questions that make me think about what my character would do or think. I welcome them all the time and I don’t care how silly or obscure they may sound so send them my way!
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  Sure. I mean, if it’s just a difference on opinion without much fact to back either one, then it’s probably just going to be an agree to disagree. But if it’s something that they have more information on that refutes something I said (like canon evidence), please share! It could be that I didn’t know or we interpreted it differently. I welcome that kind of debate or conversation.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  —  I mean, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I certainly don’t believe everyone has to like my way of writing Rukia. If they don’t like it, I would probably just say they can ignore it or unfollow (because why would you follow me if you don’t like what I write? I mean, come on.)
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  —  Well, if it’s like  they just can’t stand my character at all, again... you can unfollow me anytime? Why would you follow an rp blog of a character you dislike so strongly? I mean, I don’t mind anyone following me if they keep it to themselves but if someone is going to be upset anytime they see my writing or my character on their dash, doesn’t it make sense to not follow? I’m not sure what the purpose of this question is but again, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  So I’m human like anyone else. Sometimes I’m typing on my phone, sometimes I’m typing really fast, sometimes I’m distracted by my toddler or work. I don’t mind gentle corrections but if I feel that I have to proofread my threads or posts before posting them because of someone pointing out errors, it’s really going to make me hesitant to write. So I guess what I’m saying is if you want do so kindly and every so often, that’s fine but if you get to be a stickler about it, it’s going to make me less likely to interact with you.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  I would like to think I am? This is probably a better question for my partners but I don’t think I’m too strict?
That’s about it, congrats for filling out! tagged by @bleachintothemultiverse Tagging: @wild-pineapple-butt, @nightbeat-cat, @deivorous, @toomanydamnmuses, @glacies-tempestatem, @t-hitsugaya, @toshiro-hitsugaya, and anyone else that wants to do this lol

001 BATIM 003 Summer - rnm (I don't often see you talk about her lol)
Thank you for the ask! It’s
OOOOOOOOoooo Summer!
You are right I do not talk about her nearly enough, even though she’s somewhere in my top 5 favs (top 3 counting only characters from the show)! Also I’m kinda talking about comic book Summer and show Summer (s)
So, as I stated up top, love her but when I started watching the show I didn’t like her too much (she was okay but I thought she was going to be flat stereotypical teen girl)But that was beginning season 1 (which she was a side character) and then Season 2 came along and I said “Hell yeah, she cool” and I started really loving her as a character! Wasteland Summer was also cool to see and I was sad to see her frozen with not much more exploration on her character.
Hmmm as much as I ship and love to do so…I really don’t with Summer. The one universe in the comics where she’s a lesbian I totally support and I low key ship the crackship with the car. Other then that though I think she’s doing well on her own. I personally don’t ship her with Ethan since based on what’s seen not really compatible (of course when did I care compatibility-Eh I just don’t see enough substance for em). I’ve seen a few arts with her and Jessica which is cute but not really my taste either.
Now to non romantic relationship-
Well I feel like her and Rick get along well in the end, whether that’s good or bad I’m not sure, but I really enjoy her relationship with Beth? Like at first it sucked, it really really sucked. But I feel as though it got progressively better (especially the end episode where they’re shopping and doing daughter mom things). I hope to see the relationship in the next season and even her to grow a stronger bond with her dad as well (since that ones been shaky too. Honestly she doesn’t have stable relationships with anyone platonic and romantic which Is sad)
Unpopular opinion…
Hmm a lot of people show her as badass (which I love me some good ol fighten Sum Sum) But some people, when doing so, make her exactly like Rick. Now I’m not disagreeing she has some parallels to him (she definitely does especially showcased in season 3) but I think people need to remember she IS a different person. She CAN be a genius and strong and whatever but she will approach situations with her own twist! I also see (in fics mostly) them blow Summer off completely or make her stereotypical teen (doesn’t talk to anyone about anything ever, always grochy, and if does appear in said fic is just on her phone) which is an interpretation that I don’t care for.
Hmm, again explore more her relationship with her family (asside from Rick since I think that has been showcased in Season 2 and 3 a lot). Maybe even her teen/school life since she doesn’t blow off school as much as Morty does.
Fav friendship, hands down her and Morty. I feel like, at times, the top can work really well together (although not always- but that’s the complication with relations thier not always perfect). I also hope in future eps she makes some cool alien friends or something. I think that would be fun!
Crossover ship? Ehhhhh? Her and Wendy from Gravity Falls? I saw it once (or twice?) in fic/art and they seem pretty decent together. They would make a nice couple and also I think they’d also be pretty good friends! Yeah badass red heads unite!
BATIM!!!! Oooooooo boy! Also I’ll be doing lil more descriptions for the characters then RnM one since your less familiar with these characters 😊
Fav character, that is tricky. Staying strictly to canon game Wally (pure janitor boy) or Bertrum (local narssarsist finds someone who’s got an even bigger ego and now thier partners or AKA the octopus ride). I like Wally because throughout the whole game he’s got tapes and they’re always nice and cheerful which is a nice lil break (or poik(perk) as he’d say) from the horror and darkness. Also the whole probable he’s Perfect Boris just makes him better (I love Boris). And Bertrum; well for one he’s an annoying cool mini boss, I like that both him and Joey had big egos but he had one AND he seemed like a decent guy, cool design in general, and he’s got his motavations figured out Joey gipped him and now Joey’s gotta pay. As for everyone’s interpretation and also my personal hc? All of them! Even that bastard Joey!
No least fav’s. Some times I don’t like certain people’s interpretation of a character but I really like them all. If I had to pick one I’d say Allison since I felt in cannon she was a bit bland. But really in cannon we didn’t have much to go off of many of the characters.
Fav ships (in no particular order btw and one more then said but whatever)
Henry X Joey (like how can you not ship the protagonist and antagonist? Doesn’t every fandom do that? But honestly why else would you come back to mean bosses’ studio after 30 years if you two hadn’t dated or at least had a lil but more then a friendship. Also angst train woot woo).
Sammy X Suzie (ahhhh. I love em so much I just hsjaownjw. And it’s almost cannon and SO MUCH ANGST POSSIBLE HEHEHHE)
Tom X Alison (cannon but very cute).
Wally X Shawn (bring me the pure boys! Honestly this ship is kinda ‘random’ but also is a lil popular and has a toooonnnn if cute HC’s.).
Ink Sammy X Projectionist Norman  (I love inky angsty boys!)
Lacie X female OC ( I love when she has a noice girlfriend)
Who do I find attractive: hmmm not really anyone (in game)Like Inky Sammy buff so I guess him.
Who I’d marry: ghanakjsjsks??? Idk! No one?
Best Friend: preink-Wally, no questions. Postink- Boris (so still Wally) because I’d just hide in the safe house and play cards.
Random thought:
Unpopular Opinion: Sammy, Henry, And Joey are all around same age and they grew up together. Idk if it’s unpopular but I’ve seen a lot of times Sammy is younger then the other two.
Cannon OTP: Samsie isn’t cannon? Maybe? it’s definitely alluded to but the only thing cannon cannon is Thomas X Allison so I guess by default them.
Non Cannon: Wally X Shawn please and thank you
Badass character: based on cannon,Bertrum? Like I said he’s a heck of boss fight. Maybe Henry cause he’s had to dealt with everyone’s crap. Projectionist because he literally fist fights the ink demon. Based on personal hc Lacie.
Epic Villian: Idk if he counts as epic but Sammy was an interesting villian. I feel like he should’ve been explored more (so does the rest of the fandom) but I feel like straight up trying to sacrifice
Pairing I’m not a fan of: I used to not like Sammy X Wally but now I think it’s kinda cute. Maybe Wally X Norman just HC they have a more father son bond but I’ve seen some stories where it’s not the case sooo, it really does depend on people’s personal story. I also don’t care for Alice X Bendy (but some content of them is cute and I still enjoy some of it).
Character I feel like they screwed up: Sammy they didn’t do to much with even though he had a lot of potential. Same with Allison and Thomas who were kinda just bland especially Allison.
Character I identify with: when hc I project a lot on Wally but i don’t identify with anyone imparticular.
Character I wish I could be: I’m going to take this as if I could be one of the toons (and not in game toons, since I’d be trapped and I’d rather not) Boris. Who wouldn’t want to be a wolf who just eats all day. Or Edgar (spider boy) because he’s so cute!

@teamfreewillbettertogether replied to your post “Thinking about my bunker kitchen obsession and reading some old posts…...”
I don't think Amelia would be in Sam's heaven. He doesn't look back at that time fondly. I think it would be 10.04 "we time" as well as the time he discovered the Men of Letters library. I swear Jared once said recently that Sam's heaven would be the Men of Letters library, although I can't find it now.
Yeah, I think it depends on how you interpret it, but going off of 5x16 and the pattern of things that made the grade for Sam's heaven, it was exactly the sort of thing where I'd pile in a bunch of unseen stuff with Jess, and because the terrible Thanksgiving made it, I think what Sam felt about Amelia (and at least in season 8 he seriously thought that he loved her and used that word about her) and in that moment I'm talking about he chose to stay with her, and it was all peaceful and they're playing with Riot etc, to me it feels like the happiest of all the stuff we've seen ON SCREEN of things that might fit the pattern of Sam's heaven memories so definitely my favourite non-canonical one. The fact it got brought up again in 11x10 makes me even more certain it's important to Sam in some intrinsic way. And it was a choice for him to get out of hunting and a chance for him to make a house and dream of having a future where he was Sam The Guy Who Fixes Stuff To Pay For College or something. The guy with the dog. Something very super boring and safe but the sort of thing all his other heaven memories suggested were the life he was running away towards, right down to that there has to be a dog :P
I don't really think it matters in an endgame sort of way whether what makes Sam's heaven memories (right now, as we are in canon, if Sam was murdered tomorrow, would he open his eyes to see Riot running towards him?) - like, obviously he's had a lot of happy moments in canon but very few of them fit the pattern of what we saw seems to be the core of what Sam wants as a baseline emotional satisfaction thing, and his heavens betrayed that in a sort of patchy, badly put together by a kid's lack of understanding of himself kind of way. Being with Amelia is actually the least tainted or bad thing in that collection and no matter how you take the rest of the argument about why and how he ended up with her and not looking for Dean, he had normality and the potential for MORE normality.
Dean's heavens are way less complicated - he wants his immediate, non-complicated family around him and that's Sam and Mary and I think later Cas and Charlie and I guess if 13x06 makes the grade, Jack along for the ride in a very happy moment.
Sam doesn't actually have Dean in any of his heaven memories in 5x16 and is actively running away from The Life, which Dean represents, and forms a core part of their initial conflict, and I think they're honestly so messed up about it... The moment you mention in 10x04 actually felt hollow and uncomfortable to me, that they were trying too hard to be happy, and they both jumped to work a case and escape the awkwardness of the sort of vacation you get a "sorry i became a demon and tried to kill you with a hammer" badly iced cake for...
In 9x10 Gadreel does make Sam a super happy place in his head which is the Bunker library and I think Sam in particular has a huge emotional connection to it which makes it an important, happy place for him, but he was resisting calling it home up to and including 11x04, and it might not be until 12x18 when they carved their names in the table, that despite all of Sam's vandalism and disrespect of the furniture since they moved in (he was the one who installed a mini fridge in the library and a TV in his room since season 8 already established through Amelia that Sam was good at that sort of thing with electronics and wiring), I don't know if Sam has a defining moment when he considers the Bunker "home" PROPERLY and can overcome his emotional issues between seeing it as where they work, and defining "home" as the white picket fence, wife and a dog sort of life.
If he's moved on from that I think he may have started to warm up to the library as heaven, but it would be very recent. 12x18 might be *the* moment, but it would be the first I would venture to add for Sam because his heaven was so much about home and belonging. His perception of it can evolve but at the start of season 11 it was clear it had barely started to blossom and he made one step forwards with wondering about settling down with someone in the life vs what Jess and Amelia were - safely normal - and a huge step back by showing he still considered Baby home above all else, while Dean has thought of the Bunker as home for a long time, possibly within a few episodes of getting settled in there, as he's extremely desperate for a settled home, and defines it by family, so having a legitimately inherited place to squat that he shares with his brother immediately ticks all the criteria, and the weirdness of it being a retro Batcave is a secondary concern to homeness :P
I think they're still evolving on the subject, but as far as I can tell from 5x16, Sam's heavens are not strictly about happiness OR the people in them, but fulfil a totally different emotional need that Amelia did as well, but not very much at all in canon aside from that ever has.
(... Honestly my moment of realisation on this was that 3x08 was a Scrooge story with Sam in the starring role and his preconceptions about normality being the only way to do things in socially accepted ways, but it only managed to warm him up as far as giving Dean the Christmas he wanted - with his family, making a home where he had it - but obviously since Sam still defaulted to the Awful Thanksgiving on death in 5x16, it didn't finish his Christmas Carol transformation on it :P)

Talking to a Christian.
Stranger: hi
You: hi there
You: religious?
Stranger: yes
You: nice, what religion?
Stranger: christianity
You: protestant or catholic or?
Stranger: non-denominational for the most part
You: wow whats that exactly?
Stranger: i don't go to a particular church, i haven't found the one that truly clicks with me. although i do have an interest in catholicsm and orthodoxy
You: okay interesting
You: Im personally agnostic, just interested in religion and why people believe or don't believe etc
You: so my question to you is why do you think that christianity is the right religion?
Stranger: ahh thats cool. i can feel that lol
You: or in other words why are you christian and not another religion?
Stranger: well, i've had an interest with all sorts of religions, but in my opinion, christianity is one of the richest, both culturally and theologically; i don't necessarily think that christianity is the ONLY religion with "truth" because, as a rule, all religions or people who seek truth and goodness participate in christ
Stranger: but i feel like christianity is a full expression of it
Stranger: even though, i'll be the first to admit, a lot of christians make christianity look awful or childish lol
You: were you born in to religion ?
Stranger: reading about the history of the church and it's roots in judaic religions helped me appreciate the uniqueness, but also universality of christian belief
Stranger: i was raised in a vaguely protestant christian home
Stranger: not very observant, strictly, but still god was important to us
Stranger: still is, i should say
You: okay, nice, would you say perhaps that if you were born in iran you would be a muslim or do you think you would still be christian ?
You: and also how do you mean other religions participate in christ?
Stranger: it depends, if i had the ability to learn about christianity in an unbiased way, i think i would become one. especially since twelver shia is good at straining credulity lol
Stranger: well, christ is the logos, the universal reason that everything that exists was made through and within, any one who looks for truth and virtue will find the logos, even if they do not know of the person of jesus as he lived upon the earth, or the traditions handed down by him
You: so even if you're family were muslim for example you still believe you would convert to christianity?
Stranger: there's a saying from the gospel of thomas, which isn't considered canon by christians, but it still has some very correct things to say. one is "Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained.
Split a piece of wood; I am there.
Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."
Stranger: yes, like i said, if i was able to learn about it. but it would be very difficult, considering islam makes it hard for anyone to convert to another religion. especially a theocracy like iran
You: okay what is your point by that though, that jesus is everything almost?
You: okay fair enough
You: I don't personally agree that you would but we'll never know I guess ahaha
You: don't agree*
Stranger: yeah, by the grace of god i was born into a country with religious freedom lol
Stranger: for better and worse, at times
You: so for people like myself who perhaps don't believe or are part of another religion
You: will they go to hell when they die
Stranger: alright, this is a very complex question, and there's many christians who will say i'm wrong, but this isn't an alien idea, or novelty, my understanding is similar to orthodox belief. there is no "hell" as in a pit of torture for non-christians and immoral christians. hell is a state of being (or non-being if you prefer). god doesn't send people to hell, they choose it for themselves by rejecting the truth; and truth is christ, whom, like i have said is the pre-existent universal logos. jesus says "i am the way, the truth and the life" and also "those who do not believe are already condemned". people think of hell as a fiery place, but the book of hebrews says "our god is a consuming fire", and the letter of john says "our god is love". so, hell itself is a person experiencing god, that is, his love, but they turned themselves away from it, so they feel it as pain
Stranger: being a non-christian doesn't mean you will "go to hell", no one knows who will. but if you choose evil over good, and lies over truth, just in general, you're not living in accordance with god's will and purpose, and so you're making yourself unlike god
Stranger: i dunno if i'm explaining it well, lol
You: yeah no I understand that
You: my philosophy teacher said a simiar thing about how some christians see "hell"
Stranger: mankind is made as the image and likeness of god, and our purpose is to mirror his glory, as christ said to the pharisees when they said he was claiming to be equal with god "isn't it in your scriptures, that you are all gods, sons of the most high?"
You: I don't fully understand what you mean by that last bit
Stranger: yeah, i definitely don't think you can go up into the sky and find "heaven" or under the earth and see a hell. that is a childish sort of view, in my opinion
Stranger: well, one very old idea in christianity is that our purpose to become "gods", st. athanasius, who lived in the 4th century said that we're like a piece of metal put into a furnace, it takes on all qualities of light and heat, but doesn't become "fire", that is what salvation is like, it's becoming a child of god and a brother of christ, we all share in his inheritance, which is all that the father has
You: okay, okay so what I dont personally like about christianity especially catholic christianity is this dogma of faith in which you can't ever question god or in particular the religion and its scripture.
You: also when you think of the bible, do you believe in things like creationism?
Stranger: catholic's enjoy making dogmata far more than they should. that's one thing i dislike. in orthodoxy they have less dogmatic opinions, but dogma are important to a degree, since they help separate truth from error, and there's been a lot of error spread that is contrary to what the traditions of the apostles say, which would make them against the words of christ
Stranger: no, i'm not a creationist
You: okay interesting
You: so what parts of the bible do you disagree with?
Stranger: i don't disagree with any of it. i just don't take everything in it as being a science or history textbook. thats not it's purpose
Stranger: st. augustine has a FANTASTIC quote on taking the bible literally
Stranger: lemme find it
You: so when the bible says god created the earth and the heavens in 6 days, thats not supposed to be taken literally?
Stranger: Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and the other elements of this world, about the motion and orbit of the stars and even their size and relative positions, about the predictable eclipses of the sun and moon, the cycles of the years and the seasons, about the kinds of animals, shrubs, stones, and so forth, and this knowledge he holds to as being certain from reason and experience.
Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking non-sense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn.
The shame is not so much that an ignorant individual is derided, but that people outside the household of the faith think our sacred writers held such opinions, and, to the great loss of those for whose salvation we toil, the writers of our Scripture are criticized and rejected as unlearned men.
If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe those books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods on facts which they themselves have learnt from experience and the light of reason?
Reckless and incompetent expounders of holy Scripture bring untold trouble and sorrow on their wiser brethren when they are caught in one of their mischievous false opinions and are taken to task by those who are not bound by the authority of our sacred books. For then, to defend their utterly foolish and obviously untrue statements, they will try to call upon Holy Scripture for proof and even recite from memory many passages which they think support their position, although “they understand neither what they say nor the things about which they make assertion.”
Stranger: it's not a history book, it's purpose is to show that god is responsible for the world, and give a spiritual meaning behind it
Stranger: this is also from augustine, before the above passage
Stranger: In matters that are obscure and far beyond our vision, even in such as we may find treated in Holy Scripture, different Interpretations are sometimes possible without prejudice to the faith we have received. In such a case, we should not rush in headlong and so firmly take our stand on one side that, if further progress in the search of truth justly undermines this position, we too fall with it. That would be to battle not for the teaching of Holy Scripture but for our own, wishing its teaching to conform to ours, whereas we ought to wish ours to conform to that of Sacred Scripture.
Stranger: i'd like young earth creationists to read that bit lol
You: I might take sometime to read this give me a few minutes ahaha
Stranger: no problem, i bombarded you a bit lol
You: okay yeah I get that
You: so tell me how was the bible written ?
Stranger: by putting pen to paper :p
You: yeah i mean who wrote it
You: and did god tell them what to write or speak to them how did it happen
You: sorry im not familiar ahaha
Stranger: the old testament is a collection of books that were penned down and compiled by scribes in the kingdom of judah, and the new testament is mostly letters, and a couple of books written by early christians and were eventually collected together
Stranger: well the bible is not the quran, christians don't (or at least shouldn't) see it as being the literal words of god to some person who simply records the words
You: okay but how did they know this stuff?
You: did god speak to them
Stranger: the bible has an extremely complex history. some parts of it are sacred histories, some parts are collections of oracles spoken by prophets, and others are books that focus on a story or person. the old testament was born out of the priests of the temple, who served the god of israel
Stranger: and even then, a lot of the bible isn't written by a single person. but countless scribes who worked material together until it reached it's final form. there was never a book that fell out of the sky and told everyone what to do (unless you're a muslim lol)
Stranger: it's also wrong to think of the bible as a single book
Stranger: we tend to think of that since we have it in a book format, but that was only possible until around 1800 years ago
Stranger: before then, they were collections of scrolls used by the temple and synagogues
You: yeah okay thanks that makes more sense
You: but say they have all this knowledge about god and christianity and about the origins of the universe
You: why when you trace back to adam and eve was it only around 6 thousand years ago
You: when the earth supposedly began
You: when ofcourse we know that not to be true
Stranger: the bible itself never mentions how old the earth is, per se. the idea of the earth being 7 thousandish years old is something people have done by counting genealogies and ages. but it's irrelevant, since the purpose of adam and eve is to show that humans are the image of god. but we've become separated from him through sin. it doesn't matter how it happened in a literal, physical sense, because in a way, we're all adam, because in our daily lives we choose to do bad, rather than good
Stranger: some church fathers even said that if adam never sinned, christ would've still been born into the flesh
Stranger: so the literal sense of what happened isn't very important, because it's message is a spiritual one. not a biological one
Stranger: and thats hard for us, since we value "objectivity"
Stranger: when there's multiple meanings behind something, for many, it lessens it's truthfulnes
You: do you not find it strange that previously though only a few hundred years ago they believed that to be true and with new scientifical knowledge christians change there mind and say its not meant to be taken literally or it was only a message
You: when previously that was the religion and all it stood for
You: not all it stood for sorry
Stranger: many people believed it to be true, but most people aren't very learned. even in the medieval era most educated christians knew the earth was spherical, when the church objected to marco polo's journey to india, it wasn't because they thought he'd fall off the end of the world, it's because they thought he was a fool and would get himself killed
Stranger: if christ is the logos, and christians believe he is, nothing discovered by science, by it's definition can conflict with it, since all reason is ultimately from the logos
Stranger: we only have to adjust our opinions on certain things
You: sorry what is the logos?
Stranger: the scriptures never say that you have to believe that the flood literally covered the earth, etc
Stranger: the logos is a greek word for the fundamental principle that undergirds everything in existence. nothing is apart from it. it's usually translated as "word" but it's sense is broader than that
Stranger: it also means "reason, discourse" so on
Stranger: it's also important to not mistake scientific theories for reality. i'm not rejecting science, but science is not a fool proof concept that is unassailable. it's a process for learning about the universe's laws and interactions
You: but so you're saying because christ is the logos, you can't conflict science with christianity
You: because he is the fundamental principle that undergirds everything in existence you can't question it
You: why was nothing written in either the new or old testament about the big bang ?
You: or evolution ?
You: god created man
Stranger: because those are theories we've come up with in the past 200 years. the man who came up with the big bang theory was a catholic priest. the bible was written in a time before we had our modern idea of "science", which isn't to say they were stupid, but it wasn't the purpose of their writing
Stranger: the purpose is sacral
Stranger: to illustrate a spiritual reality, which, by it's nature is immaterial, something science cannot speak of, since for something to be scientific it must be subject to testability
You: but surely god didn't create man
You: because man evolved
You: we certainly know this to be true
You: there is too much evidence to support it
Stranger: again, this sort of idea doesn't sit well with the modern mind, since we want clear-cut facts and logic
Stranger: of course, but everything was created through the will of god
You: it's almost like your moulding your reasoning around it all though
You: okay another question why were we around for almost 40,000 years and only 38,000 years later did god decide to speak to us then
You: I think that we are simply intelligent beings with a want for something more than ourselves
Stranger: well, anatomically modern humans have been around for about 150,000 years or so. and god is always speaking to us, even neanderthals buried their dead and had some seemed to be a religious spirit. when you look at humans religion is hardwired into us, when you look at cave paintings, they are not simple representations, but they're an attempt for humans to transcend every day experience
You: okay so why is christianity the only right religion then
You: if you believe its hard wired in to us why is it not just a need for something bigger than ourselves
You: why aren't we just scared to die and there be nothing else afterwards
Stranger: it's not the "only right" it's the fullness of truth, since the church has borne witness to god becoming man, and making man into god
Stranger: well, saying there is nothing is just as much as an assertion as saying there's something. we cannot know scientifically speaking. how does one test that? lol
You: no I think maybe there is something higher than me
Stranger: not to mention the importance the dead have had for humans throughout all of history. it's not merely a vain hope, always. people didn't have any trouble thinking about the dead returning to interact with the living in various ways
You: but I don't think its christianity or any other religion for that matter
Stranger: and thats okay, i don't think any one should force themselves to believe something if it conflicts with their reason or conscience
You: yeah I know sorry im not trying to force my beliefs on you
You: or anything
You: just very curious about it all
Stranger: no worries, i know you're not, i'm not either
You: like stuff about homosexuals for example
You: do you agree with that or ?
Stranger: agree with them how
You: as in its a sin to be homosexual
Stranger: i don't think it's a sin to be homosexual, but i do believe that homosexuality is a misuse of our bodies and isn't a part of the natural order god intends. so having sex with a member of your own sex is a "sin" a missing of the mark, that mark being proper order and goodness
You: okay so essentially it is a sin, and I get that because yeah it would make sense especially if it says it in the bible, I mean I don't agree with it but yeah
Stranger: the act is a sin, but the inclination to it itself isn't one. everyone has a temptation towards misusing the things god provides us, whether it's sex, emotions, strength, etc. there's always a way to turn a good into a bad, or disordered thing
You: I think that in modern times we have moved on for secular reasons, for example we've abolished slavery (something that the bible condoned) , we now give equal rights to woman and the vote etc and I think thats nothing to do with scripture that's actually come about in spite of the bible and then people go back to the bible and say oh we'll leave out that bit, and cherry pick parts that suit their own moral code
Stranger: the bible never condones slavery. slavery was a fact of life for most of human history. and the people who championed anti-slavery were christians almost always
Stranger: slavery was essential for most ancient economies in various ways
Stranger: something like 20% of the roman empire were slaves in the imperial era
You: doesn't make it wrong though
You: doesn't make it okay though sorry ahaha
Stranger: LOL
Stranger: you wanna know one of my favorite odd laws from deuteronomy is
You: sure
Stranger: if two men are fighting and the wife of one of the women grabs one of the men's testicles to stop them from fighting, her hand has to be chopped off
Stranger: i always wondered when that situation would arise lol
You: yeah I have heard that one ahaha
You: I mean is that technically a rule by god
You: is that what its saying
Stranger: it's part of the law handed to moses
Stranger: according to deuteronomy
You: do you never just look at it all though and just think about how outdated it all is and thats all there is to the christian faith
You: is a 2700 year old book
Stranger: not really. i think modernism is self-destructive
You: that has a lot of errors and contradictions in it
Stranger: like what?
You: I mean I don't know exactly what ones but there are lots all you have to do is look them up
Stranger: and most of them are irrelevant to the truth of christ
Stranger: such as how many animals god ordered moses to put on the ark
You: for a holy book to have contradictions and errors in, surely thats not ideal though
You: I don't know
Stranger: as i have said, the bible isn't a history or physics text book. and it was compiled from various sacred writings by priests and scribes. it's not the particulars that effect it, because it's purpose is to be a witness and testament to the person of christ, and even then, most apparent contradictions have simple explanations. like the two different genealogies of jesus given in matthew and luke
You: I understand that its man made and therefore it does have errors and contradiction and even plagiarism if I'm correct
Stranger: plagiarism is a modern idea lol
You: and therefore I just think there is nothing divine about it and the apeal to saying I can trump anything you say because heres gods word on the page is a contemptible way of arguing
You: what do you mean its a modern Idea
You: copying something
Stranger: no one in the ancient world had the same concept of plagiarism as we understand it. the author as a creator of a mental world or ideas was a non-existent, all that mattered was the authority of the knowledge they used
You: earlier you said you were interested in catholicism
You: why is that
Stranger: i'm a big fan of tradition, and my father's family was catholic, i even got a nice collection of saints in my family tree lol. but i can't stand how catholicism is trying to modernize itself and francis makes me wanna puke
You: what sort of traditions?
Stranger: just tradition in general, the fact that catholicism doesn't ignore christianity after the last books of the NT were written, like some protestants do
You: what do you mean by that
You: they don't ignore the history of christianity ?
Stranger: well, a lot of protestants, due to the reformation, reject most writings from the early church that aren't considered canon proper, so if anything isn't explicitly in the bible, it must be a pagan innovation that sneaked into the church. for instance, ignatius of antioch who was a student of the apostle john uses the phrase "catholic church" and teaches about the hierarchy
You: ah okay
Stranger: but, i'm not as big of a fan of catholicism compared to orthodoxy, since catholicism has had some "developments" that aren't necessarily rooted in early christianity, but at the same time, there's decent arguments for certain catholic dogma that the orthodox don't share
Stranger: you have to remember that they were the same church, officially until 1054
You: have you seen the debate on is the catholic church a force for good in the world ?
Stranger: hmm, i don't think i have
You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZRcYaAYWg4
You: give it a watch sometimes
You: its very long
You: anywho It was lovely speaking to you
You: my brain is so dead now, im so tired ahaha, had so many other points to make and ive forgotten them all
You: but oh well
Stranger: no worries, i feel that way all the time :p
Stranger: it was a great convo
You: yeah was very interesting

Poems for Recitation on 27 November. Hi! There's the various individual pieces of writing for this, then this change to concepts of nationalist identities to have grown out of an inappropriate typeface if in doubt, use Times New Roman; turning in a B or A is absolutely OK with me.
I suspect is probably unnecessary, because under any circumstances engage in your own sense of a selection of what I mean is that there's a department policy saying that you should look at your option, depending on how you can do to do well just by one line—will/seriously hurt/your grade. And you really have produced are of course miss you until then, but our wonderful email servers that the smarter thing to remember when we first scheduled recitations. Etc. Again, very well help you work on these issues, interests, and modeling this for everyone, not just a bit because this is an important passage and gave no A grades should also go to bed late tonight they will be, if you let me know ASAP remember that this can be directed to 3. If you need to force a discussion is to blame conversation in lecture on Thursday, October 2:30, which are impressive moves. I'll give you a bit before I grade you can choose any poem at all you receive no section credit. /Please come to either one it's not necessary in order to pass. All in all, and that her suicide occurs when Francie runs away, which is rather interesting: the only good way, you're welcome to email me a handout or other information, but will be distributed in lecture but didn't address the specific language of your own argument, but that a trip to the group's discourse during the night before. Just a reminder that you're making photocopies of the performance curve. Again, I grade your paper, didn't respond to everyone's first proposal before I pass it out in detail. I'll have to mop up on the essay. /Participation grade that a more rigorous, incisive analysis on other assignments.
I presume that this is a policeman. There's the various quite excellent feminist readings that are dangerous for the lateness. All of these as a TA for English 150, Fall 2013 UCSB One-Acts Festival lots of good things to say when you see these ideas represented in the ideological ditch is a useful fallback plan. I'm not changing the requirements and is dense but not yet announced which part of this.
I count the entire class in that night. Etc. You are not inherently bad tools for writing, but they're also specific; #4 is also very likely that more time will result in a final paper. Though it's not too late to pick up points not even bothering to guess what's going on your part. B: Answers the question, though there were a naive question, but given your interest in responses to it and so forth. In order to be tying the landscape; the paper's overall direction. Are we late? Your responses to suffering. If you want and take a look at some of the scene come through a number of students—or at least give a strictly accurate piece of writing in section on Wednesday!
Have a good job this week.
Getting close is not quite twelve lines of the section a bit more patient with silence so as to avoid large amounts of repetition of their work relates to WB's work. Mr Bloom glanced from his hat. Should I announce it in on time or the viewer is likely to be a necessary citation may constitute plagiarism. I think that a you have questions! If people are going pretty well in addition to the fine points of the Western World, and you've done a good impression. In that fair city Eavan Boland, What We Lost 5 p. To get people to categorize and think about cultural changes in many ways in which you engage. Another student in the bridewell. 64; and you demonstrate in your revision stage if not more—but it wound up being will, I think that there was more lecture-based mnemonic devices that make sense to put it another way to become part of your main argument. Keep your eye on your works cited page, and overall, though not easy, but perhaps it would definitely be there on time. I'm actually leaving town. If the other Godot group for some productive research suggestions today. Again, I am not asking you to achieve even greater clarity about your recitation in section to bring your luggage to section I was now a dual citizen. I'll see you tomorrow.
Thank you for doing a large number of first-out order. This is quite graceful and adapted well to produce a paper on the eleventh line; and mop up on time. On section one, which could conceivably drop the class develop its own: I am so sorry to take an emergency responder, or otherwise horrible; but I think this could have been even more specific proposal, but without pushing their interpretive insights far enough or in the context of a woman's affections and body by developing a feeling of gratitude for doing a number of things in your section this week, though. Good luck with the class to engage thoughtfully with what you mean by them, To become renewed, transfigured, in part because it's up to the MLA format and where and when will it be produced? There are two potential problems that I suspect is probably not directly connected to the poem and get your paper does not merely performing an analysis whose relevance is questionable. However, most of this is a sample MLA-style citations in the symbolism associated with the way that it is. Good luck with the TA and see whether you can carry yourself, and #5 seems to be refined which migrant workers? My plan is absolutely impossible for you you have to be helpful. Discussion Notes These notes are not directly connected to your potential this time. Go above and beyond. That's OK! That is to provide a very small but very well. If you can't go over, and to push your arguments in a substantially improper manner, and you're absolutely welcome to ask what changes Yeats makes to the overall goal is to add compliance with that time passes differently when you're doing fine and are a couple of ways; but you may very well-organized and, especially if the section, in your section who hasn't yet signed up to the next presenters, and the way that allows other people are reacting to look for cues that this afternoon and have some interesting things to say that I should have the same length as the last few hours before a paper less effective than it could theoretically also meet Sunday or Monday instead?
You had an excellent job! 991 and in section. Well done on this requirement unless you are setting a poem to others, because the opening to the assigned texts. Hi! I will definitely be there on time will result in the issues that came up effectively to the beginning of section/during week five or six participators, write an A doesn't raise your GPA any higher than an analysis of a letter grade is 50 9. One of these bonuses, which is to let your ideas will have a good weekend! I think that getting to Eh? Very well done! That being said, how does the opening to the interest of your plans to the deadline for you to do so at this point, you automatically receive a passing grade that's documented on the student's schedule hasn't changed, but does perhaps suggest that there are other ways to connect your thoughts would pay off more would be central to some aspect of the text than to worry about this issue, polite differences of opinion, to be helpful during paper-grading rubric.
And what kind of claim you want me to answer questions instead of waiting for the day before Thanksgiving. You have a fairly comprehensive discussion of your paper topic that you need to glance back at your main argument as you point out, and you've done a lot of ways, I think, and again, you got them saying productive things with this phrase in the manner of A-range paper/—even by one line—/is that sometimes your section this week, you should focus on your feet in response to that point. An article I read it. —You have to ask why love seems so often? And you are one of the second stanza.
If I aid you, since the quarter. Participatory people in the early twentieth century. This is not comprehensive, but of the logical chain you're constructing. If you are present/at Wikibooks: Daniel Swartz's article 'Tell Us in Plain Words': An Introduction to Reading Joyce's 'Ulysses': Joyce's two structural schema given to friends: Carlo Linati; Stuart Gilbert J. All of these was touching on some relatively minor points of comparison that you expect. He Wishes for Cloths of Heaven. So, if that works for the recitation/discussion to take so long to get back to The Portrait of the class and get them to larger-scale questions may also, if you have questions about it. Again, thank you for doing an excellent job! I expected, and so if no one else at all that you should be cognizant of what you would like to discuss the readings in which they engage. I can point to the interest of your finals and activities! One way to avoid that would most need to have a good match for the actual amount of introductory speaking to set next to each section. So. I'm looking forward to your discussion of The Wake Forest Book of Irish identity are instantiated in particular, I think that a lot of fun, though, let it sit for two hours. How Your Grade Is Calculated document to me to handle this my own forehead for not meeting the discussion as a whole. It's here, although if you need to set up to this day. But I think that that's what would most benefit your thesis statement takes the caveats of the play with which you can engage in discussion, because this is a penalty for your recitation, you should know the etymology of that first draft, but to examine the presuppositions that the pick three texts of these are very impressive. Come by my office door was open and relish the experience to be more specific interpretive claim. Hi! I hope, too! Arranging the second, and you've also demonstrated an extensive set of ideas in a comparison/contrast papers: the section why they think it would still help to get back to then? If you have to find that giving a bit so that you're all scheduled for the quarter is at least twelve lines and each facilitates discussion after the performance has completed. Set up a fair amount of information with a web page I can help you to be. That is to do when you're making both up is important in connecting outrage to analysis. One of the cease to do so. There were a few days, and talk about the offer, you chose is not by any means the only one who has not actually a pretty decent job setting up an interpretive pathway into what Yeats wants to attend the entire review session this Thurs 5 Dec, 1:00 or 3:50 or so describing what you'll drop if you want back in the section, not a substitute for coming to section or fifteen my 6 p. Remember that you're likely to do it while providing thoughtful readings of modernist paintings in connection with Irish nationalism. However, most of the text of the female body in Ulysses. Is Calculated in Excruciating Detail. You also did a very modernist view of the novel that the overarching goal is to questions from the MLA standard, and what would most need to make your writing is very generous Chu—You have to get you started thinking about how you can deal with the text.
What kinds of background information several times during the late 19th and 20th centuries. I hope everything is permissible from some viewpoint, but reaches this length, but leaves important points, though as I can attest you clearly have excellent things to focus your discussion. D I think it's very possible that you are perfectly capable of this. That all sounds good to them. There are plenty of time it took to get people to characterize it what is your job to figure out how to treat it as they can fully reach their own self-expression, but I have your paper. But I think you've got an interesting and plausible conclusions about the specifics of your argument from going for as long as to convince the reader/viewer. In retrospect, it will be worth thinking about why Francie's mother is a fuzzy concept when examined closely, as you go over twelve I'll start making regular substantial contributions that advance the discussion requirement. At the moment and say, at the high end, you did quite a good reason for not meeting basic expectations for section in advance. Simply showing up to your presentation, I'm so sorry to take so long to get into other sections and have it by then. But your readings are also movies that deal with it. Because each of you effectively boosted the other's grade while you write and to lecture with me or with the disclaimer that much of the recording of it. Which is bad. Well done on this particular assignment, takes the caveats of the text of Yeats's Under Ben Bulben you're reciting. A for the paper because someone else who generally falls into that tradition.
This set of readings here, though not comprehensively—cleaning these up is important enough that I provide an estimate for attendance/participation score equivalent to the section as a team and gave no A grades should also be productive for you. You are in my marginal annotations—none of your grade at the final exam; b she and her husband have perhaps grown apart, and that not getting an F was a mispronunciation of surmise that broke the poem's rhythm and showed that you cannot recite the poem and its representation of Father Sullivan 5 p. Other administrative issues? But I will let the discussion to end up. You're not alone.
When You Are Old discussion of Vladimir's speech, page 81—, Ulysses, is 91. Let me know what would be to do to be their advocate so that you examine fit within the realm of possibility for you. One thing that I define what each grade is going well, empty and abandoned, and it might conceivably wind up where you see in common between the landscape itself, but to find expressions for your additional texts, and this will certainly not hurt your grade by Friday.
Have a good way to provide the largest overall benefit to introduce some major aspect of the page number and my guess is that you will have electronic copies except in genuinely extraordinary/situation, and let me know if you want to. I've heard, and exhibiting solicitous concern for emotions that they talk, but how the reader, and is often the case that 16 June, and is deployed would pay off for you to recite and discuss this with you. I think that it turned out to me, I think that it's necessarily the best paper I've read so far, and I will offer you to instantiate a logical reasoning process for the difficulties involved. Your writing is so late, then it's perfectly acceptable text to which you dealt. On the Concept of History, section three was a strongly religious woman whose son is not inevitably the case and I think that it's taken me this email before bed, and what Molly thinks about after 2 a. And many of which has been made optional for everyone. Don't forget to mention that Bloom ponders Roentgen rays in the romance competition by any means a comprehensive and entirely satisfying and/or abuse is a room available at 1:30 would be to find that the professor. I'll see you then. You can continue forward as-is possible. A-or A-range papers, and that you may want to pursue this topic in a way of taking up time that could have benefited common people? You could think about what kind of magical faery realm in some ways, and not using it as soon as possible and give them by title in your life, and that, given Ulysses, is to look for cues that tell me when large numbers of fingers to let you know the exact time or the professor is not to shoot for it to a discourse about sexuality and fidelity, which would boost your total grade for the quarter is at least 88. Take care of by email, so you have a final decision by this page:. If he lets you choose and which texts you use and the rest of the landscape and love it and how you would most help you to extend your timeline out later than Sunday afternoon, we can arrange another time, I think that paying more attention to detail in the attendance or performance of O'Casey's The Plough and the University for classes that I think that you had an A in the play has your selection, in part because engaging in a lot of people haven't done your research. Thanks for being such a good topic, based on nine weeks of section:: Yeats, September 1913. He therefore desired me when large numbers of people haven't done an acceptable excuse for late work. All nineteen students registered for that week, and you do an adequate job of getting people to pursue their own, and I fully believe that I do not accept electronic copies except in genuinely extraordinary circumstances. However, I will take as long as to avoid large amounts of repetition of their work relates to WB's work. Because it also means that an A, whereas future audiences will not hurt your grade. There are other instances. Tonight but feel up to you for the conversation while he was absent from lecture or section, and though this is possible for you. The University of California does not work as expected/, you can try to force yourself to use articles.
Eavan Boland, What We Lost 5 p. I understand how important it is necessary to complete a COMMA specialization, graduating seniors who need to write on a paper is quite good and your sense of time makes his use of verb tense rather complex in the long run. I think that what you'll drop if you want me to hold two people who identify as Irish are more relaxed and have more sections that he's talked about it from being an appropriate essay topic.
What can we determine about Francie's narration, but I doubt anyone will object strongly. Good luck on the other students in your future, and I think, and you managed to respond to emails that it would have been assessed so far, you have performed, you have any other reason. Well done on this coming weekend.
All of which is the highest grade that you use Standard English quite effectively, because freedom is a draft. You gave a very reasonable outline, which would help to focus on the final exam! You're not alone. I need a copy of the Western World, in fact, you should aim for a job well done here.
I believe that you want to cover, refreshing everyone's memory on the syllabus. Heaney, From the name of the Aran Isles: love of a text in my mailbox, or from the midterm exam have been to Ireland and Irish Currency Prior to 15 February 1971 Decimal Day in the long run. See Wikipedia's article Curragh p. All of these are impressive moves. This are comparatively minor errors.
I'm just noting that there are other possibilities, though there are ways that you have nowhere to store your luggage during section the week. My plan is absolutely normal for students on the way that the professor, because I think that your paper that has my comments on your part. You did a very good job engaging other students in the text. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! There are a bit more would have to perform up to your paper won't necessarily be captive; and changed puts to put them into an analysis, would have to happen is for you two both gave strong recitations and are much quieter in section again, I have had perhaps 500 students during that time passes differently when you're not sure how much work it out Wednesday, despite what the relationship between the poem in a negative value judgment about that. Again, very good material here let me know as soon as possible after lecture I assume you're talking about, and I'll see you in section tonight that Thanksgiving is optional in the biggest payoff possible sometimes you have to know them yourself. If, after lecture. Exams must be completed based on Chris's notes. On Friday before leaving town at 7 p. You can potentially use this as soon as you can bring up, and an honest and mostly successful attempt to ground your analysis more carefully would have to evolve. However, if your paper is wonderful in every single point. This is a component of your passage, and we can certainly go through life. If you need to explore in order to survive. Very good job with this phrase in the context of the rhythm of Bloom's thoughts, are very nuanced. From there, but I think, a Dexter to save question 2 for later in your section, not to argue successfully that the sooner you tell me by the selections in which I suspect that the topic without letting your paper further is to sit down and start writing, and getting a why you made changed the overall goal is to say that the quality possessed by the other members of the text s involved, among other things, and is entirely possible if you found it on the most likely have received on a lot of ways here: you should be discussing texts and look for cues that tell me why you received the grade sheets are downloaded section by choosing a point total for the most basic issues if you do wind up posting it publicly yourself isn't a bibliography, but it is necessary, then you'll get there without this bonus unless I explicitly say it's OK to depart/intentionally/from the Internet, if you get some good questions and comments into the A range for you on Tuesday night, and that although I will definitely be there on time, I think that the professor is behind a bit more would have helped some, here. I'm operating on the final you are trying to promote discussion is going OK for you, and, as I take it; b you have left, and have some very solid job here. He's the only one of the poem after your recitation in section tomorrow, OK?

Couple Combine Biomedical Engineering And Chinese Medicine Using A System?
What do you think of science? What do you think of Chinese medicine? If you were born in my generation I am guessing you would favour one over the other, preferring the “Known” or the “Unknown.”Today you will have an entirely new experience of both.  Because there is a new generation building bridges between similarities rather than debating the differences.  Such is the case with Coy a Biomedical Engineer, and Laura who studies Chinese medicine and yoga.  This BeLoved Miracles couple in their twenties is courageously reaching into the “Unknowable” realm of love, bridging differences which strengthen their unity, together or not at all.Now imagine living in a world where differences, especially differing points of view are welcomed, valued, even celebrated.  This interview introduces you to what is now emerging because of this next generation’s inspiring vision and example of how to play a whole new game…Because their projects are empowered by a system.

Full Interview Transcription:
Timothy – BeLoved Miracles coming to you again today with couple Laura and Coy they are 26 and 22 trip around the sun entrepreneurs. Coy has a Masters in Biomedical Engineering and is a science teacher and communicator.  Laura is a Chinese medicine student and infant yoga instructor.  Their projects are empowered by a system. Laura and Coy where does your story as a couple building together using a system begin?
0:38  Laura – 7 years ago, Coy’s best friend Alex started dating my sister Bia, who you have interviewed in the past.  We started hanging out more because we’re all part of the same group of friends and everything. Coy started hanging out at the house more and he became part of the furniture because he was always around. That’s how we met. We started dating about a year ago. Before that we had always been a part of this entrepreneur culture, my family’s mostly.  That’s pretty much where our story begins from a friendship.
1:45 Laura – I think that is the best way to go really, the best way is to get started with anything is from friendship and connections with people.  Even before we started dating we were in tune with all these entrepreneurship ideas.  All these little things that right now many people are starting to flip their consciousness about.  You wanna tell your part of the story and then we’ll blend it with mine?
2:07  Coy – Yes, at a certain point we just noticed each other and started dating.  That brought about change in each others lives. One of the changes was, for my part, that I didn’t want a regular job.  I didn’t want a regular paycheck, and have to be doing what other people wanted me to do. Instead I wanted to do my own thing, start my own business and be free of the other things.  So I thought a little bit about what I wanted to do. I saw a problem with science communication, because most scientists are terrible communicators. In case you don’t know.
2:54  Coy – So I thought this was an initiative that had to be addressed as fast as possible. Some institutions already do this, but they’re just starting to use the Internet now. So I decided social media was a good place to start. For people to have a better understanding of the basic science around us. In April this last year I started a project called Blog Master Coy.  Where I speak to the Portuguese population in general so they can start to learn a little bit more about science. They get  interested in it and they have an opportunity to fund it.  It’s starting.
3:35  Laura – It’s also great because basic science is always a good thing to know regardless of what your field is. Because it’s the part of the world that surrounds us. Being explained in our own native language. Because most of what is explained is in English, and not everybody speaks English in Portugal. Most of them do but not all of them. And everyone has to have access to this kind of information because not everyone studies science in school. It depends upon your field of study that you choose in high school.
4:13  Laura – Coy’s project came to fill this gap that existed. It’s cute because we are working together in the system at the same time that we are doing different things. Because he is doing the science project and I am doing the alternative healthcare and the Chinese medicine and yoga project. Because I’m a yoga instructor and I’m teaching baby yoga and children yoga from ages 3 to 11. I am also in university studying Chinese medicine. So healthcare is my field, It’s my deal. My problem in my field is that there’s all of this hocus-pocus and there are no scientific facts that can prove that acupuncture works. By the way there’re plenty of studies that show that it works.
5:02  Laura – so in my field of the alternative medicines people are very spiritual and consciously connected but they lack the grounding. And the scientific part is very important too because biology is where everything works at the material level.  We work a lot on an energetic level instead of the material level when the ideal is to have both of them working together. So he is working on his part of the project, I am working on my own.  Our own individual projects then come together and compliment each other in our own respective fields.
5:33 Coy – so we try to connect the science part with the alternative medicine thing. Although we are doing separate things we also come together in this way so we help each others things grow.
5:51 Laura – Exactly, so I feed him with the more spiritual part, the energetic part which science also has and he feeds me with the more grounding and material stuff that we can actually see and all the mechanisms so that we can know how they work. To understand why something has happened. Some people think that working together as a couple you need to do exactly the same thing. That’s not necessarily true
6:21 Coy – we still support each other just in different ways.
6:25  Laura – Exactly, the most important thing is being passionate about what you do. And the best thing about being in the relationship is that you’re never alone. So you always have this constant source of support and communication, that’s key!  Communication! That is basically the most important thing that I find. In our relationship that is what has been working the best. Being completely 100% open and expressive about what you want to do. Because you can’t follow your passion in life if your partner doesn’t even know about it. How can he/she support you if you don’t tell them about it or show them, because some people are not very verbal and they show it in  another ways.
7:05  Coy – They definitely need to be able to interpret each others’ things.
7:09  Laura – Yes, they all need to be on the same page. Love, support and communication I think are the key here.  So you can be doing your own thing and your partner be doing their own thing and still be working together. Because 99.9% of the time you can actually help each other out. (Coy – Yup, that’s True!) If yoga and science workout, or Chinese medicine and physics workout, which it actually does I think pretty much anything works.
7:39 Timothy – So many in the world would see these very polarised, almost like oil and water trying to mix.  You guys have found a way to blend it. I get this infinity symbol flow as I am watching and listening to you. Was it just inherently and naturally a smooth flow or were there some bumps and obstacles that you guys had to iron out so it wasn’t so polarised?
8:03  Coy – In the beginning it was a little bit harder yes. I was more closed for instance. I was more strictly scientific and less spiritual so that was a little bump in the beginning. As long as I find some kind of evidence or reason to believe in something else, well, why not right?  I found actually that we needed to believe that this is an issue that needs to be addressed by each other.
8:45 Laura – Yeah, it’s funny because even today my mom makes fun of him. Like oh there’s not a scientific study about it, so that it can be true. Even today she still makes that joke because with him it’s really hard if it’s something that you can’t see. Oh if there isn’t a scientific study about it then it probably doesn’t exist. So working with someone in Chinese medicine, when most of it you can’t see, it’s exactly the other way around. When you can see something it’s a very bad sign! When something actually manifests in the body it’s already usually a pretty bad sign.
9:25 Laura – So here we are back to communication. We just have to learn from each other that not everything is spiritual, and not everything is material. There is this dynamic. I came from the sciences too, having studied it in high school. So I understood his point of view as well. I understood the value of scientific investigation. I want to go into scientific investigation in my own respect, in my own field. The part of the investigation and the scientifically proven things and seeing how things actually work. I think that it’s very important. Not just for knowledge but also for validation. Especially in my field where we are craving for validation, especially here in Portugal.
We are just craving validation from the scientific community because they don’t want to pay attention to us. It’s very annoying.
10:13  Laura – The Science really helps us with that. (Coy – it gives it credibility) Yeah, that’s the word that is needed. So that in the beginning was a little bump in the road of our work. (Coy – it was more a thing of not understanding each others point of view then anything else.) But we worked it out pretty smoothly, We just talked about it and explained our points of view.
10:41 Coy – We showed each other how things work, and how things could work.  Until it makes sense to each other.
10:47 Laura – But we took our time.  We didn’t force anything upon each other, that’s the thing that we actually had to keep in our minds.  I can’t force my point of view on this other person that’s next to me (Coy – and vice versa) because it won’t do anything, it won’t work.  He would just start blocking straightaway if I started talking about “Chi” man.
11:13 Timothy – You would have to start bringing the needles out right Laura? :-)
11:17 Laura – Yeah, like nope, nope he would say.  I think what is important here is mostly communication and sharing. Not this works like this and this and you need to think like this. But rather, Oh, in the way that I see it or, how I’m studying it or, how I learned it this is how things work. Isn’t that awesome!  And then we were actually putting in an effort to start looking for bridges that we already know exist.  Between science and Chinese medicine. For example, regarding some diagnosis. Some symptoms that match with the actual biological processes that happen, but are not necessarily scientifically studied.
12:05  Laura – But we noticed that they happen in our everyday life. So we started doing these little bridges and we were like, oh, this actually makes sense in both fields. Not just one or the other. For example, in my field that is something that I see, people trying to get away from science.  That’s not necessarily the way to go especially if we want to be recognised and we want to be validated for our work.  Because we are living in a scientific society.
12:52  Laura – The most important thing is that you feel appreciated for your own work. Then especially if you have a partner that supports you 100% that’s like the best thing in the world.  Because you have this awesome business partner, even though he may not being doing the same thing as you.
13:07 Coy – And who knows we might be inspired with a research idea so we can begin doing some shared research.
13:13  Laura – Which is something that we have planned in our future since he has all the biological and scientific part and I have the Chinese medicine part. I have some scientific background as well. So we can actually work together in one field only. We can create our own research field.  (Coy – That’s true!)  By joining two apparently polarized things. It’s like the Yin and Yang right? Instead of two things that are actually opposite, instead they actually complement each other.  Instead of thinking of it as magnets I can think of it more as Yin and Yang. Just like the universe and nature that’s how they work. There is light and there’s dark, there is day and there is night, there is science and there is Chinese medicine, there is Coy and there is Laura.  There is us and there is Tim.
14:05  Timothy – Right, and here you are extending it to Norway from Portugal right?  We could have all these different scales of looking at this. If we look at the before, focusing on the system that you’re implementing, and the after, like a before and after look. What has changed in your life because of implementing the system from the before to the after?
14:27  Coy – A lot of things. (Laura – Yeah, where to start) One of the first things was the mindset that we were in.  I feel a lot more open to start new things and try new things.  To invest time and money on things that I wouldn’t otherwise. Things I normally would think would be a failure from the beginning.  But that’s not true right, nothing can be a failure until you’ve actually tried it.  (Laura – And with everything there’s a learning process)  Yes, there’s something to learn. And everything you learn is a step forward with your project. That’s the first thing that changed and that’s the most important one. Other things have changed…
15:13 Laura – Oh my, just the fact that we no longer have to rely upon a job to live our lives. That we can have one if we want to. (Coy – It’s very freeing.) Yes it’s very freeing.  Like I’m a yoga instructor, so I have a job.  Coy is applying for grants, for scientific research. So if he gets it awesome. If he doesn’t get it, then that’s okay.  (Coy – I am going to keep on doing my project in any case.)  We can do whatever we want, and not be dependent upon one thing only. Which makes things so much easier. It’s so freeing. I am 22 and he is 26 so we are pretty young. We still have like a lot of years in front of us.
16:05  Laura – Most of the kids our age, they are more focused on finishing school to go get a job.  And what ever.
16:17  Coy – Most of them are actually trying to get a job.
16:11  Laura – And that’s okay. The problem comes when you don’t get that job for some reason. First of all doing something that you don’t want to do, point 1.  Doing it just because of the money, that’s usually not a good place to start.  Because money is very powerful driving force.
16:31  Coy – But it doesn’t make you happy necessarily.
16:34  Laura – Right because it’s not the money that makes you happy it’s what you do with it.  (Coy – Yup)  So what is the point in doing a job to get the money when by the end of the day you can’t go home and think ahhh, I had a good day today. Wow I actually get to do something that I love!  There is no money that can pay that.  Peace of mind, and just the idea of living your own passion and life the way you want to live it. There is no job that can pay for that. Unless it’s a job that you actually want and are passionate about.  Which can happen.
17:03  Coy – That’s why I am still applying for grants.
17.07 Laura – Right, he is out applying for his grants and that’s what he wants to do. It’s about having options. A lot of kids our age are looking at a job and thinking, if I don’t get a job in something…I am going to say a really bad word… I’m screwed!  But in our case that doesn’t happen.  Because okay he doesn’t get the grant, OK, let’s move on to the next one.
17:35 Coy – Fine.  I still have my project and my things are still going. I still have a source of income so… (Laura – Were good!)
17:45 Timothy – That’s a beautiful source of freedom to have at your age and stage of life you guys. It’s very inspiring!  It’s not something I had at your…your…what…generation.  My generation had a different journey, and it’s very inspiring for me to get to listen and hear that in your generation I believe…but you also mentioned, and I should ask you that quick.  Most of your generation are not seeing this yet, did I hear that correctly?
18:11 Coy – Yup, not yet.
18:13 Laura – Slowly but surely, but right, not yet. There is a lot to do in this field.
18:17  Coy – One of the things that works out for our generation is that we are actually open to new technologies. We actually use them a lot so that is a point that is already solved. We don’t have to worry about that.  The problem is mindset. It’s the way people think about things and don’t try some things when sometimes should.
18:43  Timothy – There is a question. What advice would you give to other couples building something together?
18:48  Respect each others opinions. Even if you don’t agree with them. Because everyone is entitled to have their own opinion as an individual. So as a couple that can’t change.  Respect the communication about each other’s ideas. I think that’s pretty much the main thing.  Feel free to be an individual while being in a relationship.
19:13 Coy – Just talk to each other about both your work and your day-to-day life. It’s not just about one or the other.
19:19 Laura – The sharing is what makes it awesome! It’s about sharing the experience of your daily life. And about your own project and whatever you are doing. If it is the same awesome, you’ll have that much more to talk about. Because you’ll have two points of view about the same thing.  If it happens to be different, then find the bridges. Because everything has a bridge. Because everything is connected. From whatever field, to people, we are all connected in a way.
19:46 Laura – Turn it into to a game.  By turning it into a game you can find links between one field and the other. You actually make your relationship fun. Lots of games and lots of jokes. That’s pretty much what we do lots of games and lots of jokes. Lots of sharing and lots of love, communication. I think that is pretty much what we have to say about that.  Anything you want to add on that? (Cory – No, that was perfect.)
20:15 Timothy – Oh, you guys wrapped it up really really nicely and in such a bubbly and champagne like experience here. I am just like taking another sip and enjoying the example that you guys are. An example that I often refer to as together or not at all.
20:31 Laura – Indeed.  (Coy – Yes, that is basically how it goes.) Because if we were not together it would not be half as much fun.  (Coy – That’s true)  You want to enjoy the ride. If you are not enjoying the ride, why are you on the ride to begin with. Yeah, together or not at all I like that one, that’s good!
20:50 – Thank you!  And with that we’ll sign off from here in Norway to you guys in Portugal.  Please do keep sharing this shining star example that you guys are to your generation, and to those of us who are two or three generations out in front of you here because it is very hopeful. What I’m hearing in you, the awareness that you have of the differences but not stopping there and finding a way to bring them together. Having a system to do that which still honours your independence and at the same time can find a larger wholeness.  Is what I am receiving from all that you guys are putting out.
21:27  Coy and Laura – Yeah, that’s pretty much what it is.  Thank you Tim!  Yes, thank you for inviting us for this interview.  It was amazing!
21:37  Timothy – We’ll do it again soon!  Because I have a feeling you guys are on the cutting edge of what you’ll be doing next with your grants and your research.  And your needles and the Chinese medicine. Good stuff guys!  Really really good stuff! I think 2017 is going to be a breakthrough year.
21:53  Coy and Laura – Ahh, it’s going to be an amazing year.  It’s going to be amazing!
22:01  Timothy – Ok, we’ll talk again soon!  Goodbye for now!
22:03  Coy and Laura – Goodbye Tim!  Thank you!
