ive just finished a Major Event at work that involved preparing for and meeting a European royal (but in a working capacity - the Royal DID know their development work) and i realized how much of real-world scenarios really involve a lot of implication and expectation which will lead to specific actions.

like, my place of work is huge and naturally has many people who were VERY excited to see a real life Royal. no one told anyone to shut up and be quiet at the event but minutes before the Royal arrived, someone from the security team raised his hand, and the entire throng shut up in one collective go. it was so QUIET you could literally hear your own heartbeat.

there was also a moment when we were about to welcome the Royal into a special dignitaries room so everyone was all up in a line. same thing, exactly as the Royal stepped in, the whole room (around 45 people) fell SILENT except for the clicking of cameras, and no one sat before they sat down. no one drank or ate because they didn’t eat or drink.

our event was one hour EXACTLY. it wasn’t allowed to go below or over that. at exactly 5 mins before the end of the 45-minute meeting the captain of the guard entered the room and just stood there, and somehow we all knew why. after exactly 5 minutes, the Royal stood up to leave and it ended. no one tried to beat the Royal to the door. everyone waited until they got out before filing out.

i don’t have problems reading social cues and following implied protocol but it DID make me think of how hard it would have been exactly to have been in that situation if you didn’t have that bandwidth or capacity. like for that event, you can be the smartest person in the building and carry a conversation with the Royal (or anyone of importance) about your work but if you weren’t able to quickly adapt to unexplained social cues or anything like that you wouldn’t have been invited at all.

and that’s tragic in many ways tbh :/

How much did I know before playing?

I played it since the JP launch despite not understanding a single word and I've played every DrakeNieR Adjacent thing in existence except for DoD2 (no interest, sry) and... NieR Automata which I refuse to play at this point - but I guess that just means you can't complain that I haven't played DoD2 lol.

Did I like it more than I expected?

I did in fact not expect the Gacha game to turn out the best NieR game but here we are.

Since I liked it, here's what I hated about it

Despite its (to me) clear intention to present a diverse and not particularly "objectified" cast it still has a visible bias towards a certain group of characters - by which i of course mean the waifus, because those make more money. But it means that certain characters never get the 'worthless' free event units while some only get them - snd I mean, just look at Priyet who has 3 less costumes than Yurie who came out months after her.

Also, the story was clearly supposed to be longer, especially with 10H's more-than-swift in- and ex-troduction, but tbh I didn't particularly mind it? 'Cutting it short' didn't ruin anything even though it could have taken the game a bit longer to end - but I wouldn't have said no to a Purple Season 3 Chapter either.

Also also, 'Tis evident that this ludus has maybe one singular mention of our Lord and Saviour YoRHa:Dark Apocalypse (henceforth referred to as Y:DA) - and even that one mention is marvelously vague. Father, are you ashamed of your best work? Is it because it doesn't qualify as its own game? Please, I beg of you to acknowledge the existence of the Crime & Punishment fanfiction sequel you wrote in a MMORPG cross-over! Do it for meeee!

What did this game make me think about?

Honestly? A lot, so this is very non exhaustive.

The Art, both 2D and 3D, especially the very limited usage of color.

The Story and how exactly it was written. Every single line in this game pulls at the same rope and that's impressive for a game that's basically a very, very complicatedly put together Collection of Vignettes written from more than 5 people.

How thought through this game's structure is - how and when what kind of story was introduced/unlocked, stuff like that. I even thought "the grind" wasn't pointless okay, sue me but it makes the pay-off from the ex stories feel better.

I guess the death of the Common Gacha is somewhat imminent if even Square Enix is giving up on it. A shame that what's left in its wake (the Gacha with "Gameplay Value") is so much more worrisome than shitty jpg dispensers ever could be.

And I don't know, I guess I'm just excited for Yoko Taro's next big hit because he has yet to really miss. Sadly this game won't set any industry standards in the ways I would like it to :/

What about this game makes me scared for the future of gaming?

The Internet has figured out that complaining about things that everybody agrees is bad is fun - and that's nothing new. What's new is that they have at this point seen enough video essays to make their incessant complaining sound like "Criticism."

The problem I have with that is that these surface level "Criticisms" taint the stage, so to speak. Everyone is constantly mad at the mere mention of Microtransactions or of Gacha Games (except, of course, if it's one of the popular ones) and it makes it so that "not critizising" Gacha Games for even just existing in the first place makes you "uncritical."

Can you tell by my usage of Quotation Marks that I do not like the word Criticism anymore?

And I wish that my only stake with this is that I think this shit is annoying as fuck. That I think it sucks that every person having something, anything genuine to say about this game feels the need to state how they know Gacha games are bad because Capitalism sucks - a so surface level fact I would genuinely struggle to believe anyone who would agree with that hasn't already caught on to it yet.

But no - that's where our public interrogation of this type of media starts and ends, because god forbid we have a more nuanced opinion about this shit than "Gacha Bad".

Instead of talking about anything below the surface, good or bad, be it the artistic merits of this game I really like or the actually deeply fucked up evolution on the Gacha Formula the Industry is going through to make their practices more palatable despite being so much worse and deeply ingrained into everything else - resulting in an ecosystem that's so much more dangerous than anything Square Enix could ever hope to come up with.

Instead of talking about any of that I get to hear people act high and mighty about how smart and brave they are for voicing an opinion everybody shares with them.

Meanwhile Hoyoverse has made it cool to just take whatever game is currently popular and turn it into an industrial-grade FOMO machine printing object women of the week and money and everybody unironically endorses it, creates endless amounts of free publicity through fan-art & co, feeding into this FOMO cycle that's already exacerbated by games solely built to drive you to FOMO through all of its built-in game design mechanisms - all so you gamble your money away for your own enjoyment - but that's 'better', actually, 'because it has good gameplay.'

So a couple days ago Yoko Taro met up with the Stellar Blade guy and the only thing I can think about is... well...

Was 2B a mistake?

I mean, it's kind of a sign of how good he is at analyzing the topic at hand so take that as you will, but the fact is that Yoko Taro set out to create the most objectifiable women he could think of - and he was so good at it she has become what is probably the most objectified female character of our time.

Things that Automata at least to some degree criticizes through 9S (like there's a reason he's the final boss you guys)

And I guess it just feels shitty to see Yoko Taro publicly give this game his stamp of approval when the entire existential premise for Stellar Blade seems to be that clip of Yoko Taro saying "I just really like girls"; a shitty quote that 100% has caused women some societal harm he has yet to r3pent for because Gamers took it and ran - and now we have another game with a big tits SciFi Woman for Men to objectify and I'm pretty sure this one won't have the underlying subtext of "maybe objectifying women is not all that great you guys"

But then there's stuff like putting a shallow husk of 2B - and they somehow also always feature the butt out version too, isn't that interesting - into any game that will take her - which is pretty much every game that is physically able to because thanks to her standing for nothing but ass woman in the popular conscious everyone wants a piece of that free money from horny gamers.

And I guess I have to legally state that that's fine or else the horny fun police is taking me in, but with how he's treating this character outside of the game it feels like it does such a disservice to the points he makes in his games (plural bc of dod3) and that fucking sucks because clearly the world isn't ready to move on from 2B so she'll be around, and with her a symbol that actually, it's fine to objectify your female characters - full stop because nobody but us few cares about the things he's criticizing through subtext.

And it sucks that to SquareEnix her stupid ass (like literally just her ass) is going to overshadow anything Reincarnation has ever done, all the interesting points it makes about societal agency and human relationships and gender and consent and family - because I wouldn't be surprised if NieR 4 manages to barely acknowledge Reincarnation's existence at all while still churning out YoRHa DLC - I mean just look at how they treat Drakengard, which for its 20th anniversary got... an entire tweet.

Like. They didn't even play Reincarnation Music at the NieR Concert!!! Not even Inori!!! It's been three years, why was there no Reincarnation Music at the fucking NieR concert??? I guess we'll just hear Grandma and Kainé and Weight of the World Remixes forever because squeenix mandated that everything that's not the big 2 games can only be referenced in vague subtext (and listen, I love how NieR treats Drakengard Lore, I will be severly disappointed if he ever actually explains any of it - it just hurts my soul that Kuroi Hana has never been performed live) (also y:da's final boss theme should have been a kuroi hana arrangement and not kainé but i guess licensing is a bitch so there's that)

But I mean it is kind of funny that NieR Reincarnation is in a Reincarnation Cage of its own. I participated in a group order because the website I was ordering from was giving me a hard time to purchase internationally. Another group-ish order I participated in was back when twotuckgom was like 75% off and I managed to get a zizi WAY cheaper than I would anywhere else but it was from one person who did a few orders for friends, so it was different. In short, ADE tackles all things electronic music, from virtually every vantage point.

It’s easy to feel disoriented from the dizzying litany of dance music decadence on deck for ADE 2019, between the manifold menagerie of branded parties across the city—day and night—and the festival’s native events alike. Boris Brejcha x FCKNG SERIOUS [High Tech Minimal] Wednesday at Warehouse Elementenstraat

Theydream, Ann Clue, and Deniz Bul bring supporting sets for head honcho Brejcha, whose pristine and textured productions are currently sweeping dance music worldwide.

If you’re looking to lose the rave gear and check out something on the artsy side, check out Studio K on Wednesday night, where Tomer Baruch and Alex Brajković will be performing a live electronic score to Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis. Regarded by many as the very first sci-fi film, Metropolis explores the blurred lines between man and machine. Now, almost 100 years later, Baruch and Brajković reexamine those very themes as they employ the machines themselves to conduct the film’s score (or is it the machines who are employing them?).

Richie Hawtin CLOSE & Modeselektor (live) [Techno / Live Electronica] Wednesday at NDSM Warehouse

Richie Hawtin, Modeselektor, and SOPHIE are about as eclectic as a three-act lineup gets, but there’s an admitted artistic synergy amongst the triad. Universally accepted techno overlord Richie Hawtin will bring his idiosyncratic audiovisual CLOSE show to ADE, where he is set to explore the technological meeting point between man and machine all while throwing down one of the festival’s most furiously raging minimal techno sets at the festival. Modeselektor also returns to their roots as live performers in their latest Who Else album tour, with an opening set from SOPHIE, who’s expected to bring her cunning performance art along for the ride.

The Rest is Noise X ADE: Tim Hecker + Caterina Barbieri [Ambient / Experimental / Live] Wednesday at Muziekgebouw aan t’ IJ

The Rest is Noise X ADE is an evening that explores live electronic music as an art form, recruiting the eminent talents of Tim Hecker and Caterina Barbieri for a standout sonic experience on Wednesday night. Hecker performs a live rendition of is recent work, Konoyo, which delves into the spiritual nature of traditional Japanese instruments and song structure, making for the perfect ambient adventure to open up ADE with. Barbieri should turn things up just a few notches, though, as her sequencing board and modular instrument prowess are both known to forge sets as hypnotic as they are energizing.

Beneath the Rijksmuseum’s immaculate bicycle passage on Thursday, G-Star RAW hosts RAW RAVE, the 30th-anniversary celebration of the denim company. With an all-embracing lineup—which includes German house hero and one half of the infamous, Skrillex-assisted Dog Blood duo, Boys Noize, Dutch alt-rock ensemble De Staat, and Amsterdam-housed DJ assassin, TITIA—this one checks all the boxes: a one-of-a-kind backdrop alongside an equally nuanced artist agenda.

If you’re coming from out of town, you owe it to yourself to check out the pulsating and vivacious techno of one of the Netherlands’ very finest, Reinier Zonneveld.  Known for productions that are as tantalizing as his live sets, Zonneveld plans to turn De Marktkantine into his personal studio on Friday night, allowing him to find synergy between his own tracks and improvisations over a marathon 12-hour performance.

Denmark’s Kölsch teams up with STRAF_WERK to bring his lucid and ethereal wave of melodic house to the warehouse styled De Kromhouthal. The IPSO label boss tops off an impressive 2019, one that includes showcase sets at Tomorrowland and Creamfields, with an extended four-hour set at this year’s ADE, supported by label mates Henrik Schwarz [live], Patrice Bäumel, and Nicky Elisabeth.

Among a number of Loveland’s scheduled stops en-route to ADE victory, the Paradise party at Warehouse Houthavens rests among the most enticing. Jamie Jones and a number of accomplished cohorts, Alan Fitzpatrick, wAFF, and more, are ready to bring the underground sounds of The White Isle (Ibiza) to Amsterdam on October 18. While landing at a new locale, Paradise plans to make good on its propensity for an intimate, up-close experience with some of the most in-demand names in the subtler house/tech realm.

Garrix Solo [Big Room] Friday & Saturday at RAI Convention Center

Martin Garrix brings his globally renowned skills home to ADE, the Dutch superstar is set to play an all-nighter to end the week’sFriday showcases at the RAI convention center. Last year’s ADE performance saw the world’s No. 1 DJ debut his ANIMA live show. Expect Garrix to drop the hammer as he hopes to, “Make these shows the best ones yet.”

Friday’s show is 18+, but Garrix runs it back on Saturday for a five-hour all-ages set starting at 5 pm.

Ritter Butzke x Multiversum [Live Electronic] Saturday at The Church of Ruigoord

What better place to worship the sultry sounds of minimal and experimental acts like Christian Löffler, Dominik Eulberg, and Janus Rasmussen (of Kiasmos) than at a literal church? Kompakt Party [Deep House/Left-Field] Saturday at De Marktkantine

Label co-owner Michael Mayer brings his Kompakt crew to ADE for a total showstopper of an event this year. Brazilian mastermind Gui Boratto’s live set alone puts this party near the top of the overwhelming pile of must-see shows at ADE, but back-to-back sets between Mayer and German electronic pioneer Roman Flügel as well as Pachanga Boys and Axel Boman truly make De Marktkantine the place to be on Saturday night.

DGTL x Bonobo present Outlier [Electronica] Saturday at NDSM Warehouse

Bonobo’s Outlier concept relies on finding distinctly different venues so that the performers can craft unique atmospheres that break the mold. This year at ADE the English-born musician has done just that, teaming up with DGTL to take over the shipbuilding warehouse-turned-neighborhood-art-haven in the NDSM Warehouse. Grab the free ferry from Central Station to NDSM on Saturday evening to experience not just Bonobo but an absolute all-star cast behind him, including Jon Hopkins, Catching Flies and The Black Madonna.

AMF [Trance / Big Room / Future House] Saturday at Johan Cruijff Arena

To put the scope of ADE as a festival into perspective, some of the events held within it are festivals themselves. AMF is a big example; it’s a one-night indoor extravaganza at the Johan Cruijff Arena (capacity of 55,000) with a lineup that, on its own, justifies looking up flights to Amsterdam. The billing features crossover gods Armin van Buuren and Tiësto, as well as Don Diablo, David Guetta, and the icing on the cake, a back-to-back set between Timmy Trumpet and , two of the hardest-hitting acts on the global EDM roster today. Thankfully AMF is on Saturday night, as it’s hard to imagine having any gas left in the tank the morning after.

Dockyard Festival [House/Techno] Saturday at Havenpark

A festival within a festival, Dockyard stands as a longtime fixture in Amsterdam’s all-things-electronic week. (well...hopefully, but job hunting is never easy :\ ) if you’re still in this situation by the time your bills and everything catch up to you, you can always seek help from family and friends or look into loans...find someone (or multiple people) who will stick by you and support you through this, because this is something way too hard to do alone. hmmmmm i kinda get a weird shiny glitch too but it’s only with certain things, and it’s usually remedied by clicking on the sim’s different outfit categories until it goes away lol. but if it’s on ALL of the hairs...hmm...i’m assuming you’re talking about alpha? because i don’t think clay hairs usually have that problem. check if laptop mode is on, if it is, turn it off!! that’s the only solution i can think of :{

no but really...it’s hard. i’m glad i’m so into this story/eager to see all your reactions to it because otherwise the chaos of my life would’ve definitely deterred me from moving along with it a while ago. that’s basically the reason i’m so surprised i even made it this far tbh. i accomplished so much more than i ever thought i would. ;__;

i don’t have an answer for this question because i DO often feel overwhelmed and i have to take a step back and remind myself it’s not the end of the world if i don’t have time to go in game or edit or whatever. i think it’s because i set up this timeline for myself in terms of goals i want to reach with my story throughout the rest of the year and i get frustrated with myself when those plans become delayed because of other obligations. (for example i definitely thought baby wallace would’ve been born by now lmao syke) i was getting burnt out very easily before, which is why i’ve been taking it slower lately (that and i’ve been working a lot more so i don’t have as much free time as i used to :\ ) the good thing about having different characters tho is that when i get burnt out on one thing i can just switch over to another thing at an opportune time (which is what i’ve always done with santi and girooni)

anyway yeah i am kinda organized (in my own weird way) in terms of story planning, controlling the pacing and key events, and that’s definitely the reason i’m able to post so frequently. i used to have multiple free days a week where i could go in game for long amounts of time and get lots of scenes done at once, but at this point in my current schedule i just basically go in game whenever i'm free from the clutches of capitalism (jk we’re never free save us bernie) which means i only have time to do like one thing in game but it seems to be working just as well so far.

im glad i pretty much got it. i can really relate to everything going on. i can see a lot of myself in santi and molly & i get it. the movies make you think you fall in love and everythings fixed like they fill that void in your soul and i mean sure they fill parts of it but you need to do that yourself and not rely on someone else. Your story is real and you can tell your writing from personal experience because theres so much feeling. u think ur fixing urself and u end up more hurt in the end

i’m so glad you can relate ;-; i think that’s one of my proudest accomplishments so far. i mean santi has always been relatable for me because he IS me...or at least partly me, just like all my characters are. but i never thought anyone else would feel the same way, so it means so much to me that people enjoy him as a character because of that.

anyway YES exactly. i hate the “no one’s going to love you if you don’t love yourself” mentality, i think it’s a toxic way of looking at the benefits of genuine self love. the sentiment behind it is true, but it’s a backwards way of looking at it. someone’s else’s love shouldn’t be your motivation, your own love toward yourself should be your motivation. when you look at it in the other way, you do end up getting more hurt in the end.

you could probably easily make some with the paintbrush in overlay mode with varying opacities tho? i’ve tried to replicate this a few times actually, but the rest of the time i just use light leaks made by other people lol

LATELY i’ve been just enjoying playing the game because i’ve gotten burnt out on story things and just playing is such a nice break from it haha. whenever i have to wait in game for it to be a certain time of day for story purposes, i go play with girooni for a few sim hours to pass the time and it’s fun for me lmao. i’m looking forward to my story winding down so i can get back to doing more gameplay things like i did before but at the same time i’ll always do at least something story related because i like the sense of direction it gives y’know.

i’ve never actually tried any challenges, not even just regular old legacies because i would always either get sick of the sims i was playing with or get too attached to them and not want to go to a new generation lmao. i was never interested in any challenges tbh. i like watching other people do bachelor(ette) challenges tho heheh

The OTP

Same age in real life omg I've never seen a pair so perfect.

NO SECOND LEADS. I absolutely love it when the focus is only on the mains, with no pointless distractions or love triangles that go no where. I love it. i rly do

They honestly looked like a legitimate couple, I feel like I could spot several moments when they even broke through their actual characters and ad-libbed it out or something

Many people were also complaining about how slow (I assume they meant relationship progression???) it was, and got annoyed over their "back-and-forth-ness"?? honest to god, yes they were so beautiful that I barely noticed it. But also, it was so logical to me, the process they went through in which they lied to each other & then failed to communicate until later. Like, it didn’t piss me off because it made sense...? I didn’t see anything wrong with it? It went a little like: 

Yoo So-joon hits on her because he knows how they’re connected by death.

He tries to shake her off, but realizes who she really is (a fellow survivor).

He becomes interested again.

THEY FCKING GET MARRIED in FCKING EP 4 IF THAT IS SLOW TO U, THEN STFU AND GTFO

He obvi don’t love her fully, but she’s already heads over heels

She feels suspicious af and he doesn’t tell her stuff (that even his friends know). And he gets angry easily while he tries to protect his ppl, but keeps his secret hidden.

She got sick and he pulls off his romantic but materialistic resolution.

He opens up to her a little bit more and they cry it out.

He makes a wrong move again and then is basically forced to reveal his secret.

She’s like what the actual fuck is wrong with you, but comes to terms with it.

They get closer, but she feels empty because she rly don’t know much about him and he is as careless as ever.

Her heart breaks over the reality of him disappearing so easily.

So-joon is slowly realizing the future that’s in store for them.

Tries to call it quits and play noble idiot, but she won’t take his fake, snarky ass.

So they make up and he really really really realizes that he must change the future, no matter what. He has nothing left for her him but her.

He tries hard. but doesn’t try hard enough.

By the time he disappears & she waits for two years, they are basically one heart.

By the time they reunite they are the cutest couple in the world.

I think a big issue people had with So-joon’s character was that "he didn’t love her" when they got married, but I think that wording is extremely misleading and not entirely accurate. Yes, I don’t think that at that point he could say "I love you" to her with sincerity, but it’s not like he flat out was disgusted by her or hated her…?? It was more like, he was not fully aware of what he was getting himself into, by getting married. Not just to her, but the concept of marriage and the commitments that come with it in the first place. That was what he was not on board with, which is how he may have come off as indifferent. But we all knew that Song Ma-rin would change him for the better because the ones with flawed intuition always get taught a good lesson or two from their loved ones.

I swear I think I counted properly, but they kissed like 9+ times and probably hugged like 15+ times like omfg I’m pretty sure that is a record

Can I also just mention that for me, when a couple wipes each other's tears, like when one of them actually takes their fingers and smushes the falling teardrops, that is just game set. To me, that solidifies their relationship as one where 1) they aren’t embarrassed to cry in front of each other 2) they care enough to show tender affection for each other 3) they sympathize together. And that is exactly what they did. MORE THAN ONCE excuse me.

The Plot

A lot of people complained about the various flaws within the actions of the characters and the mechanics of time-travelling. Honestly… like I mentioned earlier, since the OTP was so convincing to me, the holes in logic kinda flew past my head. Like, I didn’t dissect them too deeply because I was so distracted, or I just didn’t bother

Don’t you see that their progression only felt natural?? You start out with one side that is overconfident about the commitment as if he’s strolling through a park while the other is lovestruck, but always smart enough to know when bullshit is going on, and is never afraid to call the other out for it. It only took a matter of time for them to find real and genuine appreciation for each other, and it was worth it.

"WTF were you thinking moments" & justification:

So-joon letting Song Ma-rin go home by herself while Kim Young-jin was still lurking. Ok I have no solution to this like you honestly....DID YOU NOT LEARN FROM AHJUSSHI THAT YOU BASICALLY GOTTA STICK TO THE PERSON LIKE GUM IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE SAFE?? U HAVE TO HAVE THEM IN UR SIGHTS AT ALL TIMES.

So-joon getting onto subway and ultimately getting stabbed. Ok, he even said himself that he wanted to catch him with his own hands because if he doesn’t now, he'll get away and who knows how much more havoc he could wreak? The police would do no good being there blatantly, and so he had to hold out since he was the bait anyway. He just should’ve been smarter with defense, like c’mon man let’s not get cocky with your fighting skills now.

So-joon letting her run onto the street. Ok yes, he def should’ve reacted faster and realized what kinda danger she would be in after being aware of it for like 2 years aiya. But I assume it was a spur-of-the-moment, blinded happiness kinda thing. They were cute af and they were happy and like who really thinks that hard y’know???

So-joon just bracing himself and Ma-rin for the car crash. He was facing their deaths, I assume. Yes, they could’ve just jumped out of the way, but at the same time, he had already mentioned that he just wanted to enjoy the small moments they have together, instead of always trying to cheat and change fate. If they were meant to die in that moment, he was going to take it as is. (which is lightweight greedy bc wb marin???? but whateves lol).

I really do think that the story-line was extremely tightly woven to begin with. Even up until episode 16, we saw scenes from episode 1, and vice versa; everything fell into place perfectly and the details were down to each minute of their lives. Everything was very clearly thought out and i felt like they picked and pulled at certain pieces at the proper times and revealed others at the most crucial of times, too. Props to the writing team for creating such a complex & dynamic web of characters and events that spanned nearly 3 decades.

The Cinematography

Stunnnningggggg. Especially that iconic moment in episode 1 when he pulled her out of the path of an oncoming truck and talked to her for the first time, like the way the sunlight was hitting the camera, it was just something else I swear.

Overall, the colors were warm and fluffy, but the future def always looked more bleak and dry and dark.  Beautiful dualism with a strong impact.

Also can I just mention that when So-joon disappears, it’s also very mystifying, the fast wisps are quite a touch.

Also ngl the couple themself was extremely aesthetic; like they are both very attractive people & when attractive people cuddle a part of you kinda just dies inside, y’know??

The Emotions

Ok I admit that my reactions were probably overboard because I was so attached

but straight up this is the kind of drama my heart was searching for.

I always love it so so so so much, (although realistically speaking, it’s only fantasy ones that can pull this off w/o it being some noble idiocy shit) when the force that is keeping a couple apart is a force that is greater than themselves. It’s more than them just choosing to not be together. It’s them wanting so desperately to be together, but circumstances, in the best kind, life and death ones, prevent them from doing so. The reason I like these kind of situations so much is seriously because that’s where all the love comes out. The pain of love.

It was so so so soooooo excruciatingly painful to watch So-joon and Ma-rin's future unfold the exact way he saw it would. It tore me to pieces because I could feel Ki-doong's hopelessness from losing his best friend to a murderer, Ma-rin's deathly painful heartbreak from simply NOT knowing what in the world is going on or what will happen (and for her dad to tell her to move on), but just having to wait, and So-joon's very own inability to fix it all. Oh dear lord watching him visit her grave in the future where she no longer exists, that shattered my sanity because it hurt so much.

I literally cried in the smallest of moments. When he disappeared in front of her eyes, I burst into tears along with her because her crying was so beautiful (yes, actually tho), but at the same time, I felt it deep down inside. It felt trivial, to cry over that one moment, but it also meant so much more than that. It represented a real fear of losing your loved one, and o dear lord i can’t.

Like I said, the heartbreak was everything I’ve been wanting. It felt so raw. In those moments where even he cried because he was so scared for the future (after eating in the tent with ahjusshi, calling ahjusshi on the phone in the cafe, reading her letters sent to him from her past self), knowing how much was on the line, and how much he just wanted it to be okay, it hurt so much because I had so much hope along with him. I honestly didn’t expect them to allow their future to play out the exact way he saw it; I rly thought that they’d pull some plot twists because that’s what dramas do......... and so when everything really did unfold painfully, my heart was unprepared and it tore apart. Even though I knew that they would be together in the end no matter what, I didn’t know how, and everything still hurt like fking crazy.

I know a drama does it right when I can feel the pain physically in my own chest. When it suddenly feels so heavy and ache-y that I kinda wanna give up in life a little bit. That's when a drama pulled the right strings & carved a good-sized void in my heart.

The Special Connections

I, tbh only decided to watch this because I found out that Kim Feel, my eternally favorite musician, sang an OST for it, and I was feeling extra down from his military enlistment. What a beautiful gem he brought me to. When his voice played at the still frames in the ends of some episodes, my heart filled with this indescribable sort of happiness and longing.

The "seoul station" that So-joon refers to is actually called Si-cheong station, one I manage to catch a geofilter for back when I was in Korea!!!!!!!!!!! It was an exciting discovery, to find out that the exact route So-joon takes back and forth is one that I have traveled on myself.

Idk if this really has to do with anything, but the director also directed Oh My Ghostess and King of High School, so everyone kept saying that this drama would be a rom com BUT BOY WAS THAT SHIT DARK AS F*CK IDK WHAT Y’ALL HAD IN MIND BUT like, no no, no, that was nowhere close to the other 2 dramas he made. It was a beautiful change of atmosphere nonetheless.

The Message

The fact that Ma-rin is a photographer speaks volumes. For a man who is infatuated with the future and has lost focus of the present, just one photograph can speak volumes. A photograph captures the present and instills a moment in time. For Marin, this is what her life's work depended on; this is what she lived by. Capturing the present and cherishing individual seconds in time. And for So-joon, this is exactly the kind of person he needed to save him from himself and his future selves. So so so beautifully laid out.

Even just the ending line: "today". Like akjfkjdagkahkgdhlanjak, if you don’t get the message from this then you are just... idk wtf you’ve been watching LOL. Granted, the drama is called "Tomorrow With You", but clearly that is not what they are tryna get at. That was the theme throughout the entirety of the drama with So-joon being an apprehensive wuss, but the reality of it is to face the present, and live for a today with you. Love love love <3

Favorite Moments

When he asks "So... do you like me?" and she replies "Was there ever a time when I didn't????" LIKE IDK something about the trivial-ness of both statements yet how deep they hit home.... like obviously, they like each other or else they wouldn’t have gotten so far. But the fact that he had a need to reiterate that, and the fact that she was like "dude have I not made myself clear how much I like u" like that is just so adorably cute and squishy goals to me omggg.

When she sniffs him as they walk home from dinner and giggles and says "Hehehe husband smell" OMG WHY R THEY SO FREAKING CUTE I JUST--.

When he disappeared right before her eyes, it shattered everything in me.

When he grabbed her and saved her from the accident, it was one 2-sec move that altered entire lifetimes, for better or for worse. It was beautifully shot, despite it being an extremely cliche move. It’s okay. It was gorgeous and it’s def my favorite wrist grab to date LOL.

When he started crying because he saw the car accident on the news and he legit was dropping tears, but she laughed it off and hugged him and her smile was so sweet and innocent but he’s legit in agony and it was just so cute and heartbreaking at the same time LIKE HONESTLY that phrase is what describes this drama in a nutshell. Heartbreakingly beautiful.

Despite its flaws, this drama was honestly what I’ve been looking for so so so long. It’s definitely not my number 1 because there were things it could’ve done better, and each episode did not stand out like a number 1 drama should have, but it definitely tore me to pieces, out of joy AND despair. I loved it to bits and I will never forget this gorgeous couple and their journey that transcended time.

"i CANT BELIEVE IM SEEING HIM!".. Time flies so fast. I didnt even know that tomorrow is the day he will arrive, I wasnt prepared,I wasnt even expecting it because I have been waiting for it for the longest time. So here we go, I will tell you a story of how meeting him went. I woke up very early obviously very excited but it was nerve wrecking since its our very first time meeting each other. Going back, I found out about him when he passed an entry of Philippine Kpop Convention look alike and everyone went crazy, my friends started tagging and sharing me this photo of him. I still remember when I first opened the photo, my heart was beating fast. He really does look like Yugyeom of GOT7, my bias. As a normal fangirl,I also went nuts about it, started looking up for him until it grow it something deeper. (wait mag tagalog na ngaako medyo OA kung lahat english HAHAHA) So ayun na, I was tasked to fetch him at the airport with other 2 guests. It took us a while to wait for them. On our way riding taxi to the airport, the taxi driver told me when I got down "You must be so excited to see him." even the driver can tell so. We waited and my heart starts beating up so fast, so many questions in my mind on what to do or how to react. So it was me who first saw them with my other two friends, it was truly like a scene in the movie, you know that slow mo moment where the actor/ actress sees someone they like it was so similar on the first time I saw him, he was amazingly glowing and Im not even kidding when a song "See the Light" of GOT7 was playing on the background out of nowhere when he was walking towards us. I was so amazed because to be honest, i wasnt really setting that much expectations that he really looked like Yugyeom at all.I just like him of the way he is because he was humble, so funny and very cute. So ayun, plus points pala yung mukhang Yugyeom nya like Im so shookt when I saw him. He really had this resemblance of Yugyeom, coming from the person or me who saw Yugyeom few times, he looks like Yugyeoms predebut or kapatid nya. I was sweating so bad and cant even look at him straight in the eyes. I was so shy. I couldnt talk and Im really glad I have two friends with me who were there. Dude, Lalynn, come on, you're making it so obvious even my friends said so.So we were eating at a cafe, still not having the guts to talk to him, i cant even look at him. I dont even know what to ask or talk to him about. Everytime I look at him, he always reminds me of Yugyeom. ugh... Moving forward.. I also was asked to back him up on his performance, im like, yeah cool sure but deep inside it was a dream come true. It was really awkward when we did our practice but I was trying to focus and be calm. So moving forward, DDAY everyone was excited! You can hear the screams when he went in, he was really really shy which makes him extra cute. To be honest, I wasnt even focused on him at this event because I got so busy but during the time when its our turn to dance, im fcking gonna dance in front of him, what a nerve wrecking experience especially the fact that I portrayed Yugyeom and I saw one video that him and judges kept pointing at me, huhuhu. During the [icture taking with the guest, this heart dropping moment ng inakbayan nya ako during sa pagpicture i was trying to keep calm so hard like mdfiogertj. why the heck is he doing this, he didnt do this to other girls who took pictures with him bes. ANO TOOO! So i jokingly asked him for a hug cos basically thats what these girls who were into him does after taking picture but I didnt do it of course and he laughed, we even had a picture of it. Looking, I can really tell how many fangirls were swooned over him, especially when he started dancing, the collar bones tho. I was at the back, still watching him dance at the back was so annoying haha, I really wanted to see him dance so I kind of regretting backing him up but damnnnn, he can dance too. So nagmamasid rin ako while he was at the judges seat, I remembered looking at the real Yugyeom at nestival tour just few days ago before COE. Im really shocked at how they look so similar. After the event, you can tell how he was enjoying the event and Im glad that he was having fun, it was definitely worth all the overtimes I did at work just for him to get here... Seeing him smile makes my heart melt so much, I'd like to see him smile everyday that would keep me going, his smile is truly my weakness and my happiness at the same time. We were able to have dinner together with the staff of COE. And then we went to Roxas Night Market, another shimkong moment with him when he had his hands around my shoulder yung parang nakapatong ganun while walking, ito naman yung pagtatry kong kumalma haha, trying hard talaga. Then yung, inoffer nyang dalhin yung bag kong sobrang bigat shocks. Grabeh, huhuhu he was such a gentleman. He made me fall in love with him even more. I told him its ok, ako na still he wants to hold it. My heart bes cant take it. So ayun, I dont wanna leave yet, I dropped them off at their hotel and said good night to each other and I basically couldnt stop smiling the whole night and it left me sleepless. It was so enchanted to meet him. Was looking forward to meet him the day after :)
