Three Old spells to enhance dreams/night magic.
For Hispanic Heritage Month ~ Three Old magical spells from the Venezuelan Amazonas to enhance dreams/night magic.
My most recent book, Dream Witchery, was finally published almost a year ago, and the DM conversations about it have been truly enriching and nourishing on multiple levels.
Many of these conversations revolve around two specific topics: spells and charms and dream interpretation, which I've already written about in this other post (Click Here to Read it). Another topic I'd like to discuss is dream walkers and lucid dreaming, but the book handles this topic well, and I haven't felt I need to expand on it any further.
Anyway, while I know many of these spells, nobody's gonna practice them, lol, and I need to understand that is not my concern. Many others are looking for more information to integrate into their practice, which is something I'm here for.
Magic dolls hang on the balcony. They were created during the past new moon and filled with a blend of dried powdered herbs and flowers for protection and clairvoyance, keeping us warned and shielded against enemies and their bad intentions. They hang on the balcony in the east direction of the house (air, communication, visions) to spread their energy around the property.
So here are some spells of everyday use for you focused on Night & Dreams magic.
I. Night vision.
A common practice in the Guajira (modern wayuu people in the cities) tribe of the Amazon is night vision. Yes, it sounds funny. The real name is 'Takuma Tiko,' which translates to... (surprise, surprise...)... night vision, lol. Takuma means "something you can see," and Tikoi means 'something dark, something hidden, something in the night. '
It consists of a practical divinatory exercise that involves entering a dark room or one with very little light and simply lighting a candle (traditionally, the candle is anointed with a drop of bird's blood, but we can skip that part for obvious reasons), lighting a small bonfire on the ground or a cauldron with a small bundle of dried herbs collected at dusk, or more specifically, "plants collected with the last light of the day."
You visualize the shapes of the smoke in the darkness, focus your eyes, and breathe deeply into the smoke and its contours around the candle. This ritual is performed twice weekly for an entire lunar cycle (3 to 4 weeks).
Traditionally, we wouldn't tell anyone to "carry a notebook" or "keep track of everything you see." Still, in the modern world, we know that specific recommendations work, so take notes and check your progress.
II. The mask to protect yourself.
In all forms of witchcraft, there are so-called 'witchy wars,' in the old school, kinda interesting wars between witches cursing each other with real spells and sending hexes to others; even you could quickly know when you were part of a witchy war because you see it in nightmares and visions, nothing like these modern "witchy wars" more based on basic bitches sharing boring screenshots via DM and looking to "cancel people?" or some shit like that, but online, nothing magical or interesting (precisely like them) just a dull sea of ââlies and manipulation and the most prominent display of narcissism and gaslighting.
In the old school, when these witchy wars happened, you saw actual witches meeting in the night and working together, sharing formulas, exchanging books with notes in them, etc. My mom has never been the friendliest person in the neighborhood or in the witchy groups, so yes, she was always "fighting" some mystical enemies or removing curses that kept us all awake all night. And my lord of the night, I have many stories.
My mother's divination method uses tobacco, and if you have been to a proper divination session (here is more information), you know that the answers are pretty specific. It is pretty different from tarot or runes; it is more of a system of "Q&A" and interpretation of images in the ashes.
One old trick witches did when you were trying to reveal the identity of a brujo was asking the tobacco to reveal their identity. I clearly remember when Mom repeatedly said, "I see nothing." Then Aura, a friend of Mom's, told her this person was masked, and I was curious and listening. She explained to us something curious: when a witch wants to curse you, send you deaths and curses, and wants to keep her identity a secret from the "Reversals," it involved putting on a mask made of black cloth during the night ritual to send the curse in the direction of one's enemies, and to ensure that the curse would not return.
III. A basic protection spell.
You'll find different regional variations of this simple recipe in many books on Espiritismo and Brujeria (not to be confused with Western Witchcraft).
It consists of keeping a glass with clean water under the bed. Depending on the different traditions of magic they follow, this glass of water can be accompanied by a pair of scissors opened in the shape of a cross, two knives crossed over each other, a lemon cut into four parts, or five cloves of garlic.
My own variation of this spell is to keep the glass with clean water that I renew every night before going to sleep, with 3-5 drops of myrrh or frankincense essential oil, a piece of crystal quartz, and a small piece of amethyst placed next to the glass of water.
For more context or to dive deeper into the topic, read These are the questions I get most often about Dream Witchery and The Dream Interpreter: A Bridge Between Worlds in the Amazon.

Different Kinds of Witches
Of course this isnât all of them and through I am not of the mindset of labeling a practice (If labeling were necessary we would be just as exclusionary as more âMain streamâ religions and spiritualism), this is a good way to mix and match the basics. Of course this isnât a definitive list, nor is it meant to box anyone in. I myself am a Hodge podge of Neo Paganism forms of witchcraft. And firmly believe that an open mind and exploration of the wonders that are our universe are a fundamental part of witchcraft and Humanity. I would never judge another for their practice and strict lines are the thing that tends to make tyrannical judgements possible.
I am purposefully not including Wicca in this because there is just so much modern information on this relatively new practice. I am however, including Gardianian, Alexandrian and Thelema witchcraft in here as they are the ones that inspire many of the modern practices of Wicca as we known it. Â
Gardianian witch: Named after Gerald Gardner, this tradition is UK based and are the ones you will see naked dancing circle pictures of. Hierarchical in structure and with a specific set of rites which must be preformed. All things in this are divided into bi polar gendered opiates. (Origin of Wicca. If you claim wicca I would seriously read up in this guy. Very weird and interesting )
Alexandrian Witchcraft: 1960â˛s Coven formed in England by the self proclaimed âKing of the Witchesâ (Take from that what you will), this is an off shoot of Gardnerian witchcraft. Focuses strongly on training, has a hierarchical structure. Uses the same basic tools and traditions of basic Gardnerian Wicca.
Thelema Witch: Developed by Alistair Crowley (Another king of the witches) who was a member of the occult society, a poet, mountaineer, and Englishmen. Â He differentiated his kind of magic by putting a K on it, which you have most likely seen and he coined. Â Often preformed rituals in a temple like space (He bought a now haunted villa in the Italian at one point to preform rituals in). Practitioners often use set tools like incenses, a wand, dagger and pentacle to preform magic to achieve a specific outcome. (Again totally weird and interesting dude to read up about).
Appalachian âGrannyâ Tradition: Tradition â Old waysâ brought to the Appalachian mountains by the first Scottish settlers in the 1700â˛s. Blended Scottish traditions with the native American âFirst peopleâ tribes. Labeled âGrannyâ because of the imp0ortance of older women and their prominence in mountain communities. A combination of charms, herbal remedies and charms, faith healing, magic and story telling. Â
Asatru (Followers of the norther europ0ean tradition)- Stays close to the original religion of the Norse religion (Which is still taught in many schools in Iceland and Scandinavia). It is often called âForn siorâ or âThe Ancient wayâ. This is a genuinely ancient practice and recognizes Old gods and goddesses. Practitioners seek the old mysteries of the land and honor the ancient spirits of the environment.Â
Bruja or Curandera: Spanish words for witch and healer. Hispanic folk healing tradition that continues to be practiced. These were suppressed for a long time by colonialism but have made a resurgence (Or at least come back into the public eye and included traditional witchcraft from Europe but are also mixed with Latin American, Mayan and Aztec traditions of using objects native to the land but mixed with the catholic saints brought over by the Spanish. Â
Celtic Witch (Including druidism, Celtic shamanism and the Grail religion): Mix of practices pertaining to pre Christian traditions of Gaul and the British islands. Most are now part of the Neo pagan resurgence focusing on healing and nature, elemental magic, plants, herbs, gnomes and fairies. Â
Dianic Witch: Different traditions primarily focused on the goddess and where you will find the most reference to to worship of feminine energy (Though practitioners do not have to be gendered) and the Mother, the Maiden and the Crone. Most covens worship the goddess exclusively and are today still mostly female. Â
Eclectic witch: aka most of us that have been practicing for a long time. The approach of individual practice, picking and choosing from different traditions to create a personal form of witchcraft that meets their individuality. Study and learn from different systems. Practitioners minds remain open thro9guh their entire life to knowledge, ideas, belief systems and methods of other practices. Â
Green/eco Witch: Just what it sounds like this is based off nature. Communes with nature in a similar way to what it believed the druids did, worshipping and working with the earth for healing and folk healing. Green witches normally practice a traditional form of craft and grow their own herbs and wild craft.
Romani/ Traveler Witch: Romani is the word for wise women though you might know this by the less politically correct term of Gypsy. This generally is in families, practicing simple rituals and healings with the help of their earth. Travelling comes from the Roma historical data that a great many were killed. Even so it still endures. This is an insular community that does not typically share their craft unless you are born into it. Â
Hedge Witch: Seen as shamanistic in nature, it is an earth based spirituality. Traditionally the witch that would live on the outskirts of a village or town marking the transitional magic in between the known world and the other world, something that historically was terrifying for communities. A hedge witch travels in between the two world.Â
Hereditary witch: Exactly what it sounds like this is someone who inherited their gifts through their blood line. Typically these are the witches that will have documents (Grimoires) passed to them. Â
Hoodoo Witch (Not to be confused with Voodoo): A witch based in root work often in the African American or native American communities. A nature based tradition with a large body of African folk lore mixed together with native American and European folk lore. Attributes its magical powers to herbs, roots, animal parts, stones minerals and personal possessions. Â
Kitchen Witch: This is a witch that does exactly what she sounds like and can often to be added into most of these tradition. Nature based and uses herbs and elements in her kitchen and cooking. There are no specific tools or what not that must be used. Â
Shamana: A female shaman or medicine women who practices are drawn from pagan and shaman influences. Combines the role of the healer, herbalist, teacher, and diviner. Uses to heal all levels of being. Â
Stregheria/ Strega: An Italian based earth witch following the worship of nature and the gods and goddesses. When persuasion of witches began in the 14th century, this tradition was split into three parts to keep it safe from the church: Fanarra (Earth mystery Keepers), Janarra (Lunar Mystery Keepers) and Tanarra (Stellat mystery Keepers). All three traditions had elements of dininati9on, rituals and herbalism that were pre Christian.   Â
Traditional witch: They often dont label themselves at all. They are interested in following the pre christian ways, following historical documents, the arts, astrology, herbs and symbols, the light and dark. Many practice solo and dont feel the need to over share.

i feel like people need to get a better understanding of how certain reactionary memeplexes, particularly those relating to conspiracy theories, work.
okay, remember how westpal shut up real quick when i mentioned that his avatar was from the cover of Behold a Pale Horse? i suspect thatâs because he has some level of self awareness, in spite of it all- hereâs a brief summary of the bookâs relevant segments, swiped from wikipedia:
In Behold a Pale Horse Cooper proposed that AIDS was the result of a conspiracy to decrease the populations of blacks, Hispanics, and homosexuals.[8] In 2000 South Africa's Minister of Health Manto Tshabalala-Msimang received criticism for distributing the chapter discussing this theory to senior South African government officials.[13]Nicoli Nattrass, a longtime critic of AIDS denialists, criticized Tshabalala-Msimang for lending legitimacy to Cooper's theories and disseminating them in Africa.[10]
UFOs, aliens and the Illuminati
Cooper caused a sensation in Ufology circles in 1988 when he claimed to have seen secret documents while in the Navy describing governmental dealings with extraterrestrials, a topic on which he expanded in Behold a Pale Horse.[6] (By one account he served as a "low level clerk" in the Navy, and as such would not have had the security clearance needed to access classified documents.[14]) Â UFOlogists later asserted that some of the material that Cooper claimed to have seen in Naval Intelligence documents was actually plagiarized verbatim from their research, including several items that the UFOlogists had fabricated as pranks.[15] Don Ecker of UFO Magazine ran a series of exposĂŠs on Cooper in 1990.[16]
Cooper linked the Illuminati with his beliefs that extraterrestrials were secretly involved with the United States government, but later retracted these claims. He accused Dwight D. Eisenhower of negotiating a treaty with extraterrestrials in 1954, then establishing an inner circle of Illuminati to manage relations with them and keep their presence a secret from the general public. Cooper believed that aliens "manipulated and/or ruled the human race through various secret societies, religions, magic, witchcraft, and the occult", and that even the Illuminati were unknowingly being manipulated by them.[6]
Cooper described the Illuminati as a secret international organization, controlled by the Bilderberg Group, that conspired with the Knights of Columbus, Masons, Skull and Bones, and other organizations. Its ultimate goal, he said, was the establishment of a New World Order. According to Cooper the Illuminati conspirators not only invented alien threats for their own gain, but actively conspired with extraterrestrials to take over the world.[6] Â Cooper believed that James Forrestal's fatal fall from a window on the sixteenth floor of Bethesda Hospital was connected to the alleged secret committee Majestic 12, and that JASON advisory group scientists reported to an elite group of Trilateral Commission and Council on Foreign Relations executive committee members who were high-ranking members of the Illuminati.[2][3]
Cooper also claimed that the antisemitic conspiracy theory forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was actually an Illuminati work, and instructed readers to substitute "Sion" for "Zion", "Illuminati" for "Jews", Â and "cattle" for "Goyim".[3][17][18]
okay so you get the gist here. the usual dumb shit you see in the right-wing conspiracy theory zone.
now, to be clear, iâm not dismissing the idea that people, and the ruling class in particular, might, at times, conspire- indeed, iâm about to go out on a limb here and suggest there may in fact be something to the notion that AIDS was deliberately manufactured, or at least that the government was guilty of severe purposeful neglect.
this is not synonymous with believing in illuminati or UFO crap without evidence- though the purpose of this book, i suspect, is to try to tie those two things indelibly together in peopleâs minds. not to mention the obvious barely disguised buildup to antisemitism at the end there.
the purpose is twofold- the first to discredit any investigation into there being more of a story behind AIDS, the second to try to lure left-wing leaning people toward right-wing extremism, the mechanism being obvious- first, theyâre lured in by wanting to know more about the possibility that AIDS was deliberately engineered to target black and gay communities, something which obviously would have more appeal to those on the left. once lured in, it hits them with the alien bullshit, as well as the inherently reactionary illuminati nonsense, then tops that off by presenting literally the entire text of the protocols of the elders of fucking zion to really start bringing them into the reactionary worldview- but, knowing that the person reading is likely from a left-wing background, an extremely weak effort is made to disguise the antisemitism- âoh, it wasnât about jewish people, oh no, it was about uhhhhhhhhhhh illuminatiâ and then if they swallow that, itâs only a short hop from there to ânevermind, it was about jewish people after all.â itâs a tactic used to gradually acclimate people to antisemitism. manipulative âmilk before meatâ tactics.
you can see the results of this play out in action with Tila Tequila- obviously she didnât pop out of the womb seig heiling, and there was quite a bit of buildup in the form of new-agey anti-illuminati conspiracy theorism before she became a full-fledged genocidal neonazi.
and the thing is, if there had been an intervention at the right time, she could have been saved from that, before becoming completely conditioned into an ideology which is immensely harmful to so many people.
so, if possible, itâs good to try to ascertain how deep in someone is- have they been completely re-conditioned into a hardline reactionary? or is there still time to help them see whatâs happening to them, and stop it?
for example here: [link] this person is clearly deeply in the clutches of reactionary psychological warfare, but it seemed to me like there might still be some hope for them, so i tried to intervene to help them get a better understanding of the nature of the ruling class and so forth.
but, if youâre going to intervene in this way, you need to do some background research first- just going in there and shouting âilluminati fake!â wonât cut it, especially because there was, in fact, an actual historical group called the illuminati, and to effectively grapple with this kind of thing, youâre going to need to have an understanding of what that groupâs history was, and how they became such a boogeyman in the reactionary narrative in the first place. to explore this, letâs look at what Behold A Pale Horse has to say about it- which, interestingly, is shockingly little- the name âWeishauptâ (the founder of the actual irl illuminati) appears only 10 times in the whole text:
Adam  Weishaupt,  a  young  professor  of  canon  law  at  Ingolstadt  University  in  Germany,  was  a  Jesuit  priest  and  an  initiate  of  the  Illuminati.  The  branch  of  the  Order  he  founded  in  Germany  in  1776  was  the  same  Illuminati  previously  discussed.
the âbranchâ in question is actually just. the illuminati. it wasnât a âbranchâ of a larger pre-existing movement, as Milton here is claiming, and indeed, he never provides any meaningful evidence of any pre-existing illuminati before weischauptâs group. in fact, he points to the lack of evidence prior to then as proof of how strong their oath of silence was. of course he does.
Weishaupt  advocated  "abolition  of  all  ordered  national  governments,  abolition  of  inheritance,  abolition  of  private  property,  abolition  of  patriotism,  abolition  of  the  individual  home  and  family  life  as  the  cell  from  which  all  civilizations  have  stemmed,  and  abolition  of  all  religions  established  and  existing  so  that  the  Luciferian  ideology  of  totali-  tarianism may be imposed on mankind."
In  the  same  year  that  he  founded  the  Illuminati  he  published  Wealth  of  Nations,  the  book  that  provided  the  ideological  foundation  for  capitalism  and  for  the  Industrial  Revolution.  It  is  no  accident  that  the  Declaration  of  Independence  was  written  in  the  same  year.  On  the  obverse  of  the  Great  Seal  of  the  United  States  the  wise  will  recognize  the  all-seeing  eye  and  other  signs of the Brotherhood of the SnakeÂ
this is interesting here because thereâs a strange tension between the anti-communism of contemporary reactionism, and the anti-liberalism and anti-republicanism of the earlier reactionary movements, which anti-illuminati ideology is an echo of.
the first anti-illuminati conspiracy theorists was the reactionary monarchist priest Agustin Barruel, and all anti-illuminism traces back particularly to his book Memoirs Illustrating the History of Jacobinism. inerestingly, he did not at any point in this book accuse them of ruling the world, or wanting to establish âtotalitarianâ rule! quite the opposite in fact- the illuminati and other enlightenment movements of the time were accused of "conspiracy of impiety" against God and Christianity, the "conspiracy of rebellion" against kings and monarchs, and "the conspiracy of anarchy" against society in general. if you understand anything about Augustin Barruelâs politics, youâll understand that Augustin was if anything, profoundly in favor of âtotalitarianismâ, particularly that of the king and the church. he wrote angry screeds against the illuminati precisely because they were anti-totalitarian, and espoused democratic values.
but over time, this reactionary social current had to change with the times. thus the strange tension between accusing weishaupt of both wanting to abolish private property and being behind the publication of Wealth of Nations.
for the record, no, i canât find any evidence that weishaupt published Adam Smithâs Wealth of Nations- but that accusation is nonetheless much more in the spirit of Augustin Barruelâs original accusations that the illuminati were behind the spread of enlightenment values, while the accusation he was against private property sits as an obvious later attempt to incongruously graft anti-communist reactionary talking points onto framework which originated in a reactionary anti-republican pro-monarchist context.
its interesting to see how a rectionary memeplex which was, in itâs origins, overtly pro-ruling class, and overtly anti-populist- as anti-illuminism was in itâs origins in the work of Augustin Barruel- over time get dressed up more and more with the character of a kind of artificial class-consciousness, where a short-lived progressive discussion group has been mythologized into this sort of decoy mirage stand-in for the ruling class, to divert people from developing any real understanding of the actual capitalist ruling class.
at any rate, itâs important to understand the origin an nature of this reactionary social current if you want to effectively help people who are caught up in it- to show them this history so they can see how, in their attempt to oppose the ruling class, theyâve been suckered into a reactionary ideology which is, in both itâs historical origins and contemporary functions, engineered to uphold the ruling class.Â

what's the best way to learn about witchcraft? I don't wanna dive too deep into it rn I'm just really curious. I've seen some stuff on witchtok but I don't fully trust them lol unless you have some reliable people I can follow!
Honestly the best way to learn is to do your own research because that way youâll control the information you come across. However witchcraft in general is a broad subject because itâs a set of beliefs and practices that is literally as old as human history, and also is different among every culture, so it just depends on what aspect you want to dive into. When researching itâs important to remember that witchcraft didnât start with Malleus Maleficarum, and doesnât revolve around Salem. Literally all of human history is touched by witchcraft in some way, shape, or form, so just keep that in mind!
As far as people I follow, these are some accounts (on tiktok) that I adore!
the_wanderlust_mystic: sheâs the definition of â¨quirky⨠but sheâs straightforward and kind, and literally made her account to help what they call âbaby witchesâ, which means she posts about very beginner things (dealing with the fae, basic spells, finding out who your diety is, etc.)
getwitched: sheâs a Hispanic witch who posts a lot about various aspects of witchcraft and spirituality (casting circles, angel numbers, astrology, etc.)
chaoticwitchaunt: sheâs a chaos witch who posts a lot about her experiences and is really funny but also pretty blunt about everything (the moon hexing for instance)
#if you want anymore info feel free to drop an ask!#Iâm only in the beginning stages of learning so i am by no means the only resource on this subject!â¤ď¸#witch

Tagged! Get to know me! â¨
Tagged by: @witchy-morue
I'm excited to be included! Thank you! đ
Rules: Answer these questions, then tag 20 blogs youâd like to know better!
Nicknames: My partner and one of our friends have taken to calling me Pollyanna. My partner coined the nickname for me when we were first starting to spend time together and it caught on a little among our circle. He made it a bit sarcastically as I have a bitter, dark sarcasm to me, but he liked that I retain a lot of optimism all the same. It's my favorite nickname.
Zodiac: Gemini
Height: 5â6"
Time: 9PM
Favorite band/artist: I'm not one for favorites since I love all sorts of music in most every genre, but I trend towards musicals, orchestral, pop/rock, and dance music.
Song stuck in my head: Sidekick by WALK THE MOON
Last movie I saw: Errementari on Netflix. It looked a bit cheesy from the preview but was honestly great. A Basque folklore inspired tale that was fantastical without taking itself too seriously.
Last thing I Googled: The Compendium of Constellations tarot deck.
Other blogs: I'm starting a witchy WordPress where I want to write about my practice more in depth since tumblr is often a bit tough to write long form on due to the setup and readability of the website. If you're interested in atheistic witchcraft as ritualistic metaphor or science witchery, go take a look! I'll probably be trending towards kitchen witchcraft and tarot talk more than other topics.
Do I get asks? Sometimes, but often on messenger, generally not public asks.
Why did I choose this username? The teaberry is an adorable flower and most of my usernames online have a sort of cute vibe to them, often using flowers or fruits in them.
Following: 65K+ now. I'm surprised at the sheer volume, quite honestly. I hope I can get to know some of you better!
Average amount of sleep: 7 hours in bed but I hardly sleep with my chronic illness issues. I don't know exactly how many hours I genuinely sleep per night but I'm pretty much always exhausted. đŞ
What I'm wearing: Black pants, black shoes, royal blue short sleeve shirt (tucked in), thigh length black knit cardigan, and a gold chunky knit infinity scarf.
Dream job: I'm not sure. I think there are a lot of things I could be perfectly happy doing but I'm trying to figure out how to reasonably get a job that lets me do those things (writing, resource management, languages, etc). Things have been kind of rough since I had to stop sign language interpreting when I became disabled, and I'm still trying to find a path to the kind of work that would satisfy me again.
Dream trip: I'd love to visit the milky blue hot springs in Iceland. The scenery seems very beautiful there and I love the idea of visiting during the colder months to appreciate the hot spring waters.
Favorite food: Don't make a cook pick their favorite food⌠But some things I'm particularly craving right now are Korean fried chicken, iced matcha lattes, and mulligatawny.
Play any instruments? I played the trombone for over 12 years but had to stop when I realized how much it was hurting me due to chronic pain. It was my favorite hobby in school and I even traveled a bit with my college band, I miss it terribly.
Eye color: Medium brown.
Hair color: Medium brown.
Languages you speak: Iâm a native English speaker, but Iâm fluent in American Sign Language. I used to study Spanish very heavily in school, as well as a little Italian, but when I went to college, my focus was on ASL as an interpreting major, so I lost a lot of my Spanish speaking ability. (My college was heavy on Indian students, but had hardly any Hispanic students.) I can still read a fair amount though.
Most iconic song: Ever? The choice is too much, I fold.
Random fact: I love Teavana's Coconut Almond Amaretti tea blend and I am absolutely distraught that I can't buy it anywhere anymore after Starbucks bought them out. I'm desperately trying to figure out how to replicate it before I run out of the tea.
Describe yourself as aesthetic things: A binder with sheet protectors full of colored tabs, organized by subject, typed and formatted. A glass teapot, dark herbal tea swirling around shriveled tea leaves that swell in the boiling water. A drawer stuffed with knit scarves and sweaters in jewel tones. A living room couch with warm, fleece blankets hanging over the back, plush animals nestled among the throw pillows.

Hi there, so i'm a confirmed catholic (not here to hate i swear) and i'm really doing research on what you and so many others do because i'm curious on what it's all about and i was wondering if you have any advice on where to start on understanding it all. Not gonna lie i'm not looking into doing any of it, i'm just way curious and wanna know more about other religions/ways of life especially the Wiccan/Witch side of life. Your blog is really cool btw thanks -Melody
Hello!Â
As someone who was raised with a fairly catholic extended family, I can relate. To start, Iâm not actually Wiccan, but there are dozens and dozens of great books out there about wiccanism and paganism that you can read! While I donât have any off the top of my head, there are plenty of other witchcraft blogs that have incredible reading lists I would suggest you check out!
Other than that Iâd say do what all of us do, and that is research. Reasearch myths, circle words you donât know and look them up, follow paganism back to itâs routes. Learn about magic and the people who do it. Be very very careful of TERFs (Trans-excusionary Radical Feminists) and unfortunaetly a fair amount of Norse paganism has some white surpremisists. Be careful of white people who practice Voodoo or other forms of traditionally not-white magic (Including practices sacred to Native Americans and Hispanic and Latinx people) and if youâve got questions, feel free to ask!Â
Learning about other cultures and religions is great, just be sure youâre doing it in a respectful way!
Followers of mine, feel free to reblog with anything I missed!

KARINA OLIVER HERNANDEZ, who strongly resembles EIZA GONZALEZ, has made Ceres Centropolis their home. They are a 28/UNKNOWN year old WITCH and has been in the city for FIVE YEARS. They have been known to have PHANTASM MANIPULATION & SOUL ABSORPTION. They are known to be HUMBLE & DELIBERATE and ALOOF & MERCURIAL.  If youâre lucky, you may catch them working at INNER SANCTUM  APOLLYON as an DEPUTY DIRECTOR AGENT and RIVER STYX OCCULT as an ELUSIVE OWNER.
Hey itâs Venn! Karinaâs abilities are a huge pain in the butt, but she loves using them to do whatâs necessary. Anyways, this woman loves working out, teasing new recruits, her baby girl, and her husband. A crash course to Karinaâs under the cut!Â
Karina comes from Catemaco, Veracruz, Mexico, known for its lake, the remnants of the regionâs rainforest, and a tradition of sorcery and witchcraft with its roots in the pre-Hispanic period. While all the magic was mostly practiced by men here, Karina discovered her abilities at a young age when she realized that she could see the souls of the departed.Â
She was a family-less child and grew up on the streets. This changed, however, when she met the Inner Sanctum. Karina was five years old when she was swept up in a battle between brujos and Inner Sanctum agents over containing a magical anomaly. An agent found her and did everything they could to keep her out of harmâs way, but they were struck down by their enemy. Young Karina unleashed her magical ability and defended the agent until IS retreated, but not without bringing her with them.Â
She was raised by the agent she saved under the close eye of the Inner Sanctum, and they were the ones responsible for giving her the name she uses to this day. Thanks to their teachings, sheâs a skilled fighter, agent, and magic user. They helped her become comfortable with herself and her abilities, so she was very loyal to the IS cause.
However, like all good things, her comfort was short lived. She was twenty-eight when her mentor and guardian decided to send her back to Catemaco for a mission similar to the one that they first met in. It was supposed to be a simple containment mission, but the intel provided to her was wrong. Karina fell into a trap and was captured by the brujos. It turned out that they had cursed her mentor and forced them to give her up if they wanted to live.Â
Karina was subjected to a torturous ritual that kept her up through every painful moment. She was barely alive and the ritual was nearly completed when the Inner Sanctum realized what the traitorous agent had done and sent a team to retrieve her. Her first sign of salvation that night was Vera and even though Karina became disillusioned with the Inner Sanctum as a whole, she promised to pledge her allegiance to her saviour and her friend.Â
Three years after that botched mission, she ventured outside of the Inner Sanctum and became the owner of River Styx Occult shop. She bought it from the previous owner with the intention of taking a break from her work with IS, but what ended up happening instead was that she decided to join a local coven so she could keep watch on supernatural happenings in the city to help aid the Inner Sanctum.Â
Also she got married to Gray Oliver. Then two years after her marriage, she became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. They named her Sawyer and she loves her very, very much. If you fuck with her, Karina will fuck you up. Donât mess with her husband either, even if theyâre quite quiet about their family life.Â
Their dog is named Pepperoni, as named by their daughter, but everyone calls the baby dog Pep, for short!
Update 1/23/19
Karina has left Inner Sanctum and flipped over to Apollyon to work with her adoptive mother, Amara Wolff.Â
Karina has found out she is an Immortal.Â
She has an anklet that stabilizes her magical abilities and allows her to have more control when things possess her.Â
More on her abilities, bam!
A year after her failed mission, Karina discovered the products of the ritual. She found that her magic had taken a sinister form and that she could call upon the dead to do her bidding. They were like puppets that she could bend to her will, but each soul and spirit she used had a personality to them. As she explored her abilities, she learned that she could do so much more than use them to aid her in battle; she could also absorb them and use them to augment herself. The dead were a great source of power and knowledge. And she had an endless supply, if she could collect enough of them.
So in her spare time she literally collects souls, earning the title amongst her peers as âThe Reaper.âÂ
The ritual turned her body into a nearly perfect vessel for her abilities. Her body stopped aging when she was twenty-eight. Because IS interrupted the ritual, the brujos didnât get to complete the part about adding tirelessness to her or summoning the dark demon to possess her body.
When Karina absorbs a soul or lets them possess her, she is able to access their abilities, knowledge, and skills for as long as she keeps them inside of her body. However, during long periods of doing this, she loses herself as she takes on the personâs memories. The longer she uses a spirit in this way the more likely sheâll come out of the ordeal rambling about memories that arenât hers and completely confused about the situation in front of her.Â
Karina is actually 36, but she cannot, for the life of her, remember her actual age because of all the souls that have gone through her body.Â
I guess that it's important to note that she can do witch stuff too and when it comes to stuff like that, unless she uses the spirits to aid her, she can go into overexertion mode, but despite her limitations, she has become a trusted member of the Ceres covens and is rumoured to be one of the most powerful witches of her generation. You'll never hear either of those from her though.

I'll respond this but about Hispanic witchy/pagan/spiritual YouTube channels because I haven't connected with English speakers YouTube channels of these kind of themes.
My favorite witchy YT channel is MagoDrayk/Spiritxpert, because he has a long time practicing magic and witchcraft and it's pretty obvious because of the way he talks. He's not perfect, he has done some stuff that it's not ok from other perspectives like studying the Kabalah of other occultist paths that aren't Jewish or work with Lilith when he was a teenager... but he has something else. He don't follow an specific path, he has his opinions based in his experience but also in reflection and studies. It doesn't matter if someone disagrees with him, you can always learn something from him. Actually, that's why I do too much introspection about deities and myths to incorporate them to my craft instead to read too much witchy books (something I did too much when I was a teen). Introspection and searching many magic/esoteric stuff can change too much the craft in a VERY good way, even if you can't practice it (like closed paths). I don't mean you can practice closed traditions, I mean information is always good because you can form your opinions with more bases. In resume, good channel. I think I have grown too much because I learned all of this from him and his girlfriend who has a channel too called ArabelaJadeTarot. She has her own opinions but it's the same: always fruitful.
My least witchy YT channel is Witching Me. She's from witchtok, we started bad, lol. At first, I suscribed to her channel because I think we can learn anything from anyone in all those kind of themes. But I noticed many bad stuff, some examples are: she has a very Wiccan influence even she isn't from the religion and she shares that information like it's the most witchy stuff (oh, and she has a New Age influence too), she uses the chakras thing, and the MOST annoying thing I HATE is that she's the kind of "witch" who defends you can't be friends with deities because it's unrespectful, that deities can't fall in love with you and she says we must stop "humanizing" deities. She says that kind of experiences must have been from entities with "low vibrations", but if you ask her why, she just justify herself with things like "I have been for years in this stuff" or "I've read too many witchy books"... but it's not like she has read something to validate that arguments, y'know? It's very obvious she don't do introspection and she hasn't done too much research even she say she do.
So, to Hispanic witches, you can take my advice đ
Ayo any and all witches who see this, reblog with your favorite witchy/pagan/spiritual/etc YouTube channel and why you love it and think people should check out, or respond with your least favorite YouTube channel and why you think people should avoid them

raised by two alphas that fought a lot. his father tried to teach him to build walls becuase he meant well and wanted his son to be able to keep himself safe, ended up teaching him never to trust people and anyone trying to get close to him was trying to tear down everything heâd built. his mother was flat-out neglectful of him because he wasnât a planned pregnancy. his fatherâs a wolf, taught him how to fight/lead/etc, and his motherâs vampiric/demonic. took blood from him often (thatâs illegal and dangerous!) since the family lacked a blood supply, so he was malnourished as a kid. still has health defects due to it. his brothers (three, two older one younger) pretty much hated him. still has scars from them to this day. he pushes people away because heâs afraid to trust them, but also wants a deep relationship he can benefit from emotionally; often a source of conflict. has been drawing since he was a kid since it helped him as a form of escapism.

Caring about air pollution isnât as cool as going vegan or quitting plastic â but a new gen of young disruptors are attempting to change that
A FUTURE WORLDÂ POLITICSÂ 16.05.2019 Text Lydia Morrish
Read the original piece in Dazed Magazine
When 20-year-old Daze Aghaji moved back to London after six years at boarding school in Skegness, Lincolnshire, she was annoyed that her asthma came back. âWhen I was younger I used to have asthma, and I didnât have it when I was in Lincolnshire,â she says, passion trembling in her voice over the phone. Skin problems, like eczema, acne, and itchy eyes, also returned, along with her asthma, in London. âThat was when I knew something needed to be done.â
Now a student at Goldsmiths University in south east London, Daze believes her health issues are a result of the British capitalâs illegal levels of air pollution, which itâs been grappling with since 2010. âIt hit me, the air not being as good,â she says from her shared house on a buzzing New Cross street.
Air pollution â the presence of harmful particles in the air we breathe â is a national crisis in the UK. An estimated 36,000 people die prematurely in Britain every year because of it, and itâs particularly bad in London, which has overtaken the EUâs annual legal limit of nitrogen dioxide (from road traffic and factories burning fossil fuels) within one month every year since 2007. The air meltdown is global, with nearly one in every ten deaths in 2017 a result of pollution, according to a major new study on global air published in April.
But you wouldnât necessarily know all this. In comparison to more mainstream environmental issues, like quitting plastic straws and bottles, or going vegan, caring about air quality is still catching up. According to some estimates, 70 per cent of London teenagers arenât aware of how bad the capitalâs air is. This could be because much of the buzz surrounding air pollution is all dreary posters, stuffy documentaries, and lifeless infographics from out-of-touch charities failing to capture the attention of new voices and the next generation. Because of this, air pollution isnât a household anxiety. Instead, itâs more routinely thought of as a distant issue thatâs dull and non-urgent.
But this misrepresents the threat of polluted air. Its effects are long-term, deadly, and need to be more widely known, says Dr Maria Neira, the director of the World Health Organisationâs public health department and one of the worldâs top 100 climate policy influencers. âIf you donât have safe water, food and clean air⌠how can we survive?â she asks over the phone from her office in Geneva, Switzerland.
âWe should, from the beginning, tell people that the price of climate change is paid by our lungs and hospitals,â says Neira of the link between global warming and air pollution, both resulting mainly from the use of fossil fuels. âThis is something that until now has not been considered.â
This is why Daze is one of thousands of young people trying to ârebrandâ air pollutionâs public image from something dull and grey into something that everyone shouts about. With subversive ad campaigns, preconception-busting protests, and bunking off school, they hope to fix what they see as a lack of public concern and government action for air quality. Despite the Conservative government launching a new clean air strategy, which it described as âworld-leadingâ, campaigners argue it falls short of providing a proper game plan to cut emissions. âIf kids have the sense to know something is dramatically wrong, I donât get what the government is doing,â says Daze. âWe have less than (ten years) to make this dramatic change.â
Daze is part of XR Youth, the youth wing of the headline-grabbing radical activist movement Extinction Rebellion, which attempts to force government action to reduce carbon emissions by 2025 with tactics like shutting down central London and stripping in the House of Commons. Daze stages strikes, plants trees, and distributes leaflets to rework air pollutionâs public image and make the government take more radical action. âWeâre going to cause havoc until they listen to us.â
The collective is part of an international movement of students skipping school to protest political inaction to climate change. Inspired by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, the Youth Climate Strike sees kids around the world bunk off school on selected Fridays to protest global warming. âYouâve got dancing, people moshing (and) a party, festival vibe,â says Daze, recalling how she sat down eating her lunch in the middle of Westminster Bridge, refusing to stand up when approached by police, at the February 15 strike. âIf this isnât going to make them take it seriously, what will?â
A group that knows a lot spicing up the public perception of environmental issues is Clean Air Now, an eco-gang of 20-something anti-pollution warriors founded in 2016. Its founders, filmmaker Vasilisa Forbes and graphic artist Claire Matthews, who met the rest of their clan on social networks, aim to tip the view of air pollution on its head through an underground, DIY approach, using creative design and artistic activism to bring air pollution to a wider, younger audience.
Their subversive campaigns include anarchic Kidulthood-inspired anti-pollution billboards warning young people of traffic fumes, an advert campaign showing the effects of pollution on skin using kitsch imagery, a collaboration with British grime artists including JME for a campaign promoting electric vehicles, and artsy, witchcraft-esque posters personifying Mother Nature.
âTraditional environmental activist organisations can be prone to presenting themselves in a visually outdated and unreliable way, which does little to inspire new engagement,â says 26-year-old Claire, referencing the use of idyllic imagery and soft and forgetful messaging in pollution campaigns from NGOs. â(They) looked more like antihistamine adverts than anything campaign or civic engagement-related.â
The duoâs most recent campaign, CAN Organic, completely overthrows traditional narratives around air pollution. The stunning film, featuring south London youth collective RAWMAR and dance students from a Leyton sixth-form â all of whom have respiratory problems â forces viewers to face the human impact on major citiesâ air quality through ethereal dancing and hazy stills.
âOur whole aim was to turn the idea of being environmentally conscious (into) something that everybody can be a part of,â says 27-year-old Vasilisa. âYou can still be cool and environmentally friendly. Itâs not just a frumpy middle class concept.â
Aside from historically lax air pollution ads, the lack of public awareness around air pollution so far could be down to its inherently foggy nature. âYou can see climate change is causing flooding, you can see plastics, but with air pollution, you canât really see it,â says Daze. This makes engaging with the issue of air pollution more difficult, with individuals unable to know how to make a change themselves. âItâs everywhere,â she adds.
âYou can still be cool and environmentally friendly. Itâs not just a frumpy middle class conceptâ â Vasilisa Forbes
We might not see air pollution, but we feel it. âWhen you breathe polluted, toxic air, you feel it immediately,â says Neira. A growing stack of research points to air pollutionâs negative impacts on our general health: in the UK, there are record levels of deaths from asthma and air pollution is increasingly being linked to heart disease, diabetes, and dementia. âYou might not know the name of the diseases itâs causing, but you see the linkage very clearly and quickly.â
Much like wealth, pollution isnât spread equally, with eastern countries like Bangladesh and China bearing the biggest air pollution burden. Even in western countries thereâs a racial gap, with pollutants disproportionately inhaled by black and Hispanic Americans despite them being disproportionately caused by white Americans' consumption of goods and services.
Itâs also worse for young people: 90 per cent of the world's children breathe toxic air, while growing up in polluted areas increases the chance of teens developing depression, according to one recent study. âThe younger you are, the bigger the risk,â says Neira. Itâs no wonder young people have to take matters into their own hands.
The narrative around air pollution is already changing. âWe have been trying to ârebrandâ the climate agenda by saying that this is a question of asthma, this is a question of our lungs, our brains, and our hearts suffering,â says Neira. âWhen you (ask) people living in a polluted city what is air pollution, they can immediately tell you that their eyes are suffering, they cannot breathe, they can feel it. This is a language that everybody now understands.â
Lawmakers are finally responding to activistsâ efforts. Sadiq Khan has launched the Breathe London network, building a map of air quality across the capital using sensors, as well as a new fee to drive in the city centre in an attempt to cut congestion and reduce traffic emissions. Meanwhile, air pollution tech is getting better, with tools like China-based Blue Map and British app London Air bringing the air conversation to peopleâs smartphones. These changes arenât anywhere near enough, however. The UK doesnât look likely to meet EU air pollution limits or WHO guidelines any time soon.
Ultimately, it will be young people, the policy-makers of tomorrow, who change the game. âYoung people... Iâm sure will be able to move mountains,â says WHOâs Neira. âThey recycle, are conscious of plastic bags, cautious with way they use water, (and) use public transport instead of cars. This is the way we will transform our society.â
For Daze, the freight lorries driving through New Cross are a daily reminder of her health problems. âAir pollution is something you canât escape,â she says.
From the image-conscious young activistsâ perspectives, air pollution will be tackled properly once it has been solidified in the public psyche, and seen as an issue people can get involved in, like cutting down on meat and recycling. Despite the hurdles, they wonât be giving up â their mission to rebrand air quality has only just begun. âPeople have power,â says Daze. âIf everyone cares about it, the government will have to listen.â

The quick guide to the factions in A Captive State
The following are the four major factions in A Captive State (two of them were joinable). Depending of their choice, the player is joining either the United States Armed Forces or The Phoenix, to determining about the end of the alien invasion over Chicago.
United States Armed Forces
The United States Armed Forces are the main antagonists in A Captive State. They are the military forces of the United States, it consists of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force. The most well known member of the US Army was Colonel Charles Levitt and Staff Sergeant Alan Rittenhouse of the 3rd Infantry Division. Colonel Levitt serves as the one of the main antagonists in A Captive State, alongside FBI Agent Stuart Kermode and several members of the Disciples. Staff Sergeant Rittenhouse then expelled and banished from the US Army to form his own private military company called Rittenhouse Corporation, which were allied by the Phoenix. They are one of two joinable factions in A Captive State, alongside the Phoenix. After the end of the Persian Gulf War, Colonel Charles Levitt led the military operation and scientific project called Project Anvil, which helped to defend Chicago against the attacking outsiders and culminating the defeat of the extraterrestrial presence over the city. They are often heavily armed than any other armed groups in A Captive State.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the domestic intelligence and security service of the United States, and its principal federal law enforcement agency. One of its agents, Stuart Kermode, was the head of the mission against the alien invasion over Chicago. He was one of the main antagonists in A Captive State.
The Disciples
The Disciples were the group of the unknown cultists whom were believed the Scavengers are their main allies in the alien invaded Chicago. They served as one of the primary group of antagonists in A Captive State. Their favourite weapons were the Kalashnikovs, various US Army firearms, laser weapons, swords and machetes. Their main enemies were the United States Armed Forces, FBI, the Foragers, and the Phoenix. They are often riding their motorbikes, rather than cars. Their favourite radio stations were Juvenile 101.5, Adrenaline 90.4, and Chicago Hardcore. They also often using the melee weapons while riding their motorbikes. In The Tale of Jurgis DLC, there are few many area of operations owned by the Disciples in the Greater London. The group (alongside the Phoenix) were loosely based on Weather Underground and Symbionese National Army, the infamous US militant group that is largely active during the late 1960s and the mid 1970s. Their name also based on the real life Chicago street gang of the same name, although they are not actually the cultists. In The Tale of Jurgis DLC, the Disciples is often armed with medieval weapons, alongside firearms. In The Tale of Jurgis DLC, Danny said the Disciples were the descendants of the medieval warriors involved in witchcraft and occult, if the Scavengers first arrived in the medieval Britain.
The Phoenix
The Phoenix were the independent paramilitary organization based outside Chicago. They are often backed by the Foragers (also known as the Marauders), an alien race opposing to the Scavengers. They are the primary group of protagonists in A Captive State, alongside Rittenhouse Corporation. Their favourite weapons were the alien weaponry, various US and Russian military firearms, and laser weapons. They are one of two joinable factions in A Captive State, alongside the US Armed Forces. Their main enemies were the Disciples, the Scavengers (also known as the Cockroach, Roach, or Roaches), the United States Armed Forces, and the FBI. Their favourite radio stations were Juvenile 101.5, Adrenaline 90.4, and Chicago Hardcore. All four main protagonists (Gabriel âGabeâ Conway, Raphael âRafeâ Conway, Caroline âRulaâ McPhee, and Brian âJurgisâ McPhee) were being the members of the Phoenix. In The Tale of Jurgis DLC, the Phoenix then travels to London to defeat the Disciples presence in the Greater London during an alien invasion by the Scavengers. The members is basically consisting of Whites, Hispanics, Asians, and Blacks, but some of the members had an Irish, Scottish and Australian accents in The Tale of Jurgis DLC. The group (alongside the Disciples) were loosely based on Weather Underground and Symbionese National Army, the infamous US militant group that is largely active during the late 1960s and the mid 1970s.

So I'm a light skinned Cuban American witch, and I agree with pretty much everything @vehementlyvagabond says, but just to add on:
-Most of us would still rather be called Hispanic than Spanish. I've heard so many supposedly "woke" people say "oh yeah, Spanish people" when talking about a group of people that come from Venezuela,Cuba, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.
- Most of the Caribbean is included in Latin America! Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Santo Domingo are the three biggest ones.
- Thank you so much for using Latine instead of Latinx. I refuse to use a word to describe my Latin ancestry that I can't even THINK in spanish.
- I'm a light skinned Latin witch. I do not identify myself as a bruja, because at least in Miami culture that holds very different connotations than the new age idea of witchcraft and paganism. Brujeria has cultural connotations and is connected to the idea of traditional forms of latine/indigenous witchcraft. At least in Miami it still holds a slightly negative connotation in a still zealously Christian community. I do not practice Latine style of witchcraft, and so I don't personally feel comfortable identifying as a bruja and all of the connotations and ideas it holds within the community, without facing their same struggles. So while I *can* technically call myself a bruja, I don't out of respect for those who actually dedicate themselves to the cultural practices.
- Brujeria also tends to be associated with religions like Santeria which are CLOSED because they DO NOT fuck around. Out of both respect for the religion and your own spiritual well being, leave them alone. It takes YEARS of dedication and guided ritual to be inducted into the religion. The level of knowledge and practice you need for this craft requires traditional induction and guidance. So in addition to not being a culturally appropriative dick, save yourself the trouble and don't fuck with something that is gonna chew you up and spit you out.
If you are WHITE
Please stop identifying yourself as a bruja. You may think it is just the Spanish translation of witch but that isnât the whole case. There are cultural significances to brujeria and hechiceria. You do not get to reclaim and use our word for yourself.

Witchcraft Around The World
Part 2:Â Latin American Witchcraft (as requested by @staringdownthestars)
ĂĂĂ
Among certain Hispanic and Native American cultures of the Southwest, the practice of Brujeria is feared as a manifestation of evil. Those who use rituals, spells, incantations, potions, and powders to work ill against others are known as brujas or brujos. Although that term originally described a negative form of witchcraft resembling black magic, it is nowadays used as an umbrella term for all sorts of witches with Hispanic roots.
A few manifestation of brujeria that are very common in LatinoamÊrica are curanderismo, a practice and a belief at the same time, based on the view that everything we do effects Mother Nature as a whole and that if we live life with conciencia (consciense), all our relations with nature will be beneficial for our own spiritual power and healing nature as a human. Curanderismo practices traditional, solely nature-oriented and spiritual medicine.
SanterĂa, also known as Regla de OchĂĄ , La Regla de IfĂĄ, or Lucumi, is a religion and system of beliefs that merges aspects of Yoruba mythology that were brought to the New World by enslaved Yoruba people, along with Christianity and Indigenous American traditions. The Yoruba merged their traditional costums with Roman Catholicism. SanterĂa characterizes these deviant Catholic forms of worshiping saints.
It should be mentioned here that almost 92% of all South American people are Christians, 84% being Roman Catholic.
