When I first put up my (still ongoing, in side-stories) fanfic world about (brace for impact) My Little Pony, I got some lovely, lovely pieces and share them, then. They're also shared on the front page of the stories themselves on FIMFic. But OP is right - They should be called out and shared directly. So here we go.

TWO PONIES My first foray into the MLP Fanfic. This was incredibly well-received, much to my (continuing) surprise. The following image was drawn by CoconutJam over on DeviantArt, and shows Spice Drop, a character from Act 3.

ORDER FROM CHAOS / JUSTICE / HOPE

This was initially a one-shot written on a literal dare. IonSturm was a regular in the writing help channels I frequented. I helped with grammar, structure, and characterization. After yet another awful Sonic the Hedgehog in Equestria story that simply couldn't be saved, I told people that I would not longer be reviewing them. His dare was, in effect, 'If you can do better, I'll give you an entire internet.'

After OfC sailed into accolades, he said I hadn't done enough. We needed to have the lead character hit *all* the tropes - marry a pony, meet the princesses, have a kid, and face his nemesis.

So I did that too, through 'Justice', but took liberties on what 'nemesis' meant.

"NO," he cried! "This is still EASY MODE! You need the actual blue blur in the mix. I refuse to admit defeat unless Sonic himself is present." But the poor fool failed to recognize I had fallen in love with the story, and the characters, and by the stars themselves, Snowdrop wasn't going to give me a *minute* of peace until I gave her story time.

So I did that too, in 'Hope'. To much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

He eventually admitted I had done so, and also gave me permission to call him IonStrum, a typo-name that irritated him to no end.

GiantMosquito, again on DeviantArt, drew this piece and I used it as the cover image for Justice.

You might be able to guess who the lead character turns out to be.

But the plot bunnies. Dear fates above, the plot bunnies. I had to get them out. I had to fill out the backstory. I had to tell more about Snowdrop and her family. I had to do this. I had to do that. So I started a collection of vignettes, some chronological, some self-contained, all intertwined, called...

FINE STEPS

In the town of Pasofino lived a pony and his family and all folk he knew. And this is the story of what happened there.

It's still not done. I have been working WAY too much and traveling WAY too much but more chapters will, eventually be coming. When I posted it, Alexstrazsa on FimFic and Wentox on DeviantArt collaborated on this:

Squeak squeak went my floral magenta bed. Waking up just now this legendary & flukish morning. My Nina is finally letting me watch TV instead of doing chorse. She will come in 2 hours at 10:00 AM. But now I have to feed my dog Allie. So I stared at a musc video. La la! Then I raced outside to see Allie bouncing on my onyx trampoline wiht a pine green alligator in my confusing backyard! The container of doggy bitz scattered (not real dog bitz)! It was shocking all I could do is gape! Allie bulldozed out a bunch of mixed up barks. My fairy self casted a yackin & quackin spell on the alligator to make him have a conversation (because I’m a spellmaster fairy). But he explained that he did not need magi abilities. Intrudcing he cleared his throat & announced his name is, “Gummy Mclede Diddlebob the Eighteenth” (awesome).

We charged into my cramped house & played the brand new super cool fair red Wii2. Yes I won the legend of zelda but Gummy owned me a hungry hungry alligators (I’m positive he would always win). Gummy & I sprung over to my room fater than Pinkie Pie. Gummy was starving (but I think he’s just hungry). So I gave him 3 cans of tuna (blech) & salmon (gummy ate the rusty metal to)! (Weirdo McBoberson).

Imagining to be fairys (well I didn’t have to pretend). Then we hung out (litterally we were upside down), it stunk more than my throwup on the floor (& he did pass gas). So we sprung down & landed on my comfy cozy speckled couch. We got some sky blue gatorate & played Zelda. Score I found the princess of zelda 3 times (magicl)! We watched the replay. “Whoa” yelled I, while I flinched when Gummy snapped at me.

Gaping in amazement suddenly he snapped at me 3 more times. Gummy soon had me knocked out on the floor! What else could go wrong? Suddenly my wand loosened out of my firm grisped fists & most of my magic pranced out like little dancing fairies! Out of nowhere I was in a dusty boxing arena. Ding ding! Looking around seeing if I could reverse the slepp. Looking back at gummy he was charging at me! I leaped up in the misty air & dodged the hit. Gummy was trying to hit me! (Not a surprise.)

Quickly finding my marbled wand & grasped it. I quickly bulldozed out these words, “Stop this brand new you make you blend so we can be friends.” Vroom vroom! Hearing my Nina’s car thinking there’s no way to stop a Wii2! It seemed like my Nina barged in & shook the whole house! When she walked in she gaped & fainted. 10 min later. She woke up & we all rejoiced. She got up & stormed to the backdoor & shooed Gummy away insulting him, but Gummy will come back for playdates.

P.S. Besides we’re having a BBQ tomorrow & I expect some unexpected guests.

My 2nd youngest, at age 9, wrote that because she loved the time we spent telling stories to each other (whether about MLP or not) and was given a prompt to use her new *adjectives* on a school assignment. The above result is unedited, and utterly charming.

[EDIT 2: I forgot the main thing I wanted to say, of course. OP, and other artsy sorts? A picture or poem or *anything* from twisted pipe cleaners to fiber art to chiseled busts being brought into the world in response to a writer's story is one of the BEST THINGS THAT CAN HAPPEN, so PLEASE, if you feel inspired to create based upon a story we've told, don't hesitate* to share. (*within the bounds of consent) ]

Apparently, my decision to be silly and make fanart of someone's writing (because I genuinely enjoy the story the person is writing and I was struck with inspiration upon reading a particular scene) has benevolent and wildly unforeseen consequences.

I apparently gained a bit of control of the canon because said writer really loved the art and decided what I drew/draw is canon.

2. Writer put said artwork into the document of his story right below the scene, so now it's IN the story where people who read the story will see it (with a link to me)

3. He sent the artwork to all his friends and people he knows because he was so excited

Wholesome interaction and I watched him do all that in real time, good stuff. However...there are two more consequences I was notified of today...nearly a full week after I gave the artwork.

Seeing the artwork caused his friends to become interested in reading and hearing about his story, which means more people are reading what he's writing and giving him critique on the story (which he actively asks for).

Apparently, upon seeing the art, his writer friends got a sudden second wind to pick back up writing they'd abandoned for a few months. Because, I quote, "seeing that someone enjoyed {his} writing enough to take the time to make art of it gave them the motivation that maybe THEY can write something that will inspire someone to also create something." I have accidentally caused a writing frenzy among his writer friends and my silly idea to make art for someone has had a butterfly effect for people who I don't even know.

Uhh...I'm pretty sure there's a moral here but I am tired and have a great deal of emotions about this.

Genevive: Call of her Wild: chapter one

 She awoke in a vast world not like her own. ‘Luparia’. The burden of how she escaped pressured her mind with drowning grief of the fallen everyone is dead or gone. That’s when she noticed her collar was off her power was restored. Something flew in front of her red scales flashed in front of her ‘what was that?’. 

 A red scaled proto-drake landed in front of her. “I am Alexstraszsa, What are you, who are you?” It said it’s voice defined as a female. She cleared her throat “I am Genevive The Wolvarian goddess of the wild”. And with that their friendship grew.

Ok so after finding out that WoW's story has been a haphazard disaster since year dot, and it wouldn't matter knowing everything about the lore if quest designers can just be like: 'hey I'm gonna do X because X is cool'

I have decided I'm severing the WoW cord for good, and making my own WoW. With whatever I damn well want.

I thought my analysis on a damn YouTube video for Dragonflight was cool so here is my two cents:

Hey, so I haven’t had much time to play, but I will start this comment off by saying I love Wrathion. Very much. I haven’t gotten far enough to see Sabellian, so I’ve just been watching cinematics (they keep showing up when I open YouTube)

I personally am torn between them. Yes, yes, Wrathion is very young, very impulsive and very hot headed. But he seems to have the flight’s best interest in mind. He was literally torn apart and put back together with spare parts for the purpose of living past Deathwing’s legacy and making sure the black dragonflight are redeemed. His pompous approach towards the subject is understandable, because he feels like he suffered the most for the flight. He had the weight of the world on his shoulders from a young age, and while he was a little brat, he acted out of what he thought would be right for the world. When he returns in Battle For Azeroth, he still just wants to help. He wants to right his own wrongs on top of the wrongs of Deathwing.His entitlement is justified, in my eyes.

Although, another thing to consider is that Sabellian spent his time in Outland cleansing the black dragonflight of madness after freeing himself from it, instead of just slaughtering them like the player and Wrathion did. As the last living child of Deathwing (though I suppose the reason Wrathion thinks of Deathwing as a father is because maybe one of the whelp corpses he is made of was a child of Deathwing, or he is referring to him as the father of the black dragonflight, much like how the reds refer to Alexstrazsa as mother or grandmother) Sabellian thinks of Wrathion as a child, and he is. He looks down on him. He sees himself as much better. He is experienced in leading and patience with long tasks.

Now, here is my theory:

I think Sabellian is still corrupted. I think he figured out how to hide it or control it for a time, especially laying low after Deathwing was slain and when N’Zoth returned, just at points where he would surely be killed as well. Maybe the Old Gods’ influence lingers after they die, or maybe Sabellian has just been so far gone that the Old Gods’ corrupting him is no longer needed, as he is already mad.I think he wants full control over Azeroth to be able to manipulate her and her inhabitants when he wants. He is not carrying Deathwing’s legacy, he is making his own. And he refuses to play second fiddle to a bratty child dragon who was supposed to die with everyone else years ago.

Wrathion is hot headed, yes, but he also wants to help Azeroth, his home, and his flight. He has always wanted to help, even if he messed up. He would not have returned so obviously and stayed near Sillithus if he didn’t want to help. Sabellian just... seems to want the title. At least so far. He expresses no interest in Azeroth or helping the cause, and only expresses interest in the black dragonflight when it involves his leading and control of them.

Anyway, tl;dr: I think Sabellian is still corrupted and just jumping on bandwagon “Wrathion is just a baby” hate. Team Wrathion!

These are just my opinions on what I have seen!

me personally: wrathion, anduin and kalec are trans guys, wrathion is pan, kalec is bi, anduin is gay. Alexstrazsa is literally Wrathion’s mother (he has accidentally called her mama once... look if he calls Onyxia auntie he says mama. Non negotiable) Anduin and Wrathion have sleeping problems. Nozdormu combs and blowdries his beard after showers. Ebyssian is asexual. Wrathion knows french. Etc etc etc.

Please I need to know.

If I see one more Warcraft elf with human eyes, I’m going to break something.

This was prompted by some gifs of Lady Liadrin from Hearthstone or something I saw (and promptly scrolled past without a closer look), but I also can’t stand the new Alexstrasza model.

I made this back in December last year, updated it now. (The original post never showed under the tags and I've deleted it. Garbage website.) I moved around the scene and updated the lights, but the major thing is that I overrode the map lighting. The whole scene was lit up like it was out in the sun, not indoors. I know about this for SFM, even did it in other posters, I just... completely forgot.

Edited this one a lot, though. Replaced the whole mesh, in fact. Extracted Alexstrazsa from HotS, cleaned her up, then copied the weights from Yaron’s port onto her and recompiled with his ported animations and materials and everything else still in place.

...I was tempted to ignore this, but you chose to put this in the Sylvanas tag despite confessing that this post isn't for Sylvanas fans, so idk what you were expecting.

How do you make a satisfying villain arc for Sylvanas? You can't. Because at this point one cannot escape what wanting a character like Sylvanas a villain arc says about oneself as a creator.

Sylvanas' character arc was deliberately sabotaged in BFA by Alex Afrasiabi, an actual sexual predator. BFA was supposed to take Sylvanas in a very different direction, but then Chris Metzen left WoW and Afrasiabi pivoted super hard because he was pissed that Garrosh was villain batted instead of Sylvanas in MoP.

And it's not surprising that Alex hated Sylvanas, given his track record. Sylvanas' death and undeath reads to many as sexual violence, considering how Arthas went out of his way to violate her soul and even tells her it was her fault for denying him. Hers is among the most explicit, most recognized case of sexual violence in WoW's, second only to Alexstasza who was ACTUALLY a rape survivor. And in case you think she was treated any better by the narrative, in War Crimes, Christie Golden wrote it so Baine strong armed Alexstrazsa into forgiving the orcs who violated her.

Back to Sylvanas, her undeath is literally the only claim she has to possibly being a villain. Canonically. Alliance characters all talk about how the 'brave and heroic Ranger General died against the Scourge and the Banshee Queen is just a cruel mockery and we are right about this and totally don't just hate the Forsaken cuz they're gross. We promise!' Before BFA, there was no real claim for Sylvanas to be a villain. The Wrathgate wasn't her fault, every Forsaken she raises is given a choice to serve her or not, invading Gilneas was ordered by Garrosh, the Blighting of Southshore was meant to mirror the Alliance burning down Turajo (which the Alliance got a pass on, thanks again to Golden), and she called for a retreat on the Broken Shore because they were already losing, making the idea that she betrayed the Alliance completely ludicrous. The story had to twist itself in knots and break itself in half to even begin to paint Sylvanas as a villain. But Afrasiabi and others think that Sylvanas being an angry woman who suffered insane trauma is enough cause for her to have a villain arc because framing traumatized women as villains is just what Blizzard does (Kerrigan, Widowmaker, Jaina etc)

"Oh but she's always been a ruthless, amoral, complex character." Well that probably wasn't helped by the fact that different quests and story events featuring Sylvanas were all written by different people who clearly did not communicate with each other at all. Seriously. From the authors of books to fucking quest designers can just write what they want and are not obligated to listen to the on staff lore experts when they point out a mistake in their writing. And keep in mind, Blizzard is already a very misogynistic work environment up to its neck in SA allegations to this day.

"Oh, but the Forsaken have always had elements of evil to them!" Because devs and writers wanted to just have the Forsaken be an evil race and Christ Metzen, the creator, had to argue them on this for years until he got tired and left. There are devs on staff that just want the Warcraft 1&2 model of 'Horde bad, Alliance good' despite the fact that very little of the actual playerbase wants that. Hell, people to this day still argue that Garrosh shouldn't have been villain batted. The idea since WC3 was that there are no quintessential good guys in Warcraft. It hasn't stuck to that idea consistently because, again, devs and writers just doing what they want, but that is the intended outline left by Metzen (who they recently brought back btw)

"But why does all that matter?" Because you cannot divorce Sylvanas from the canon events in her life and the intention behind them by the writers. Blizzard is a deeply misogynistic company who either has their female characters be arm candy for hunky men or become raid bosses for committing the crime of being traumatized and angry at the aggressors about it. And even then Sylvanas' character arc was an egregious case of sabotage that left everyone unhappy. The Forsaken players who were watching their queen get villain batted, the Nelf players who just lost their starting zone, Horde players who were forced to suffer ANOTHER evil warchief story, and Alliance players who shipped Sylvanas with Jaina. None of them were happy. The only ones that might have been happy were Worgen mains who were itching to live out their 'mind break' fics where their shitty ocs got to rape her.

And even after taking all of that into account, you still want to make Sylvanas a villain, you have to ask yourself why it's so important to you. Cuz off the top of my head, the two possibilities are you just want an uncomplicated evil bitch (which, in that case, Azshara is RIGHT THERE) or... you're a Worgen main.

I asked this question in a discord and really only a couple people answered before the conversation derailed into complaining about the Desolate Council/mostly Calia, but I'm also gonna ask here just for more input.

So in the variety of conversations I’ve seen, I’ve seen multiple people say Sylvanas’ fall into villainy “could have made sense.” And, well, I’m curious to know what people think could’ve been a more logical route. I’m just not that familiar with the character, and reading her wiki page will only get me so far. I’m asking because I’ve got an AU where none of Shadowlands happened, but Teldrassil and the Fourth War did. Sylvanas is the main antagonist. The story is gonna follow Cathala and Tarinne tracking her and her loyalists down to kill them. But I want to do Sylvanas as much justice as I can, because she’s a complex character and I can understand why people like(d) her pre-BfA.

I’m not asking so I can steal ideas, don’t worry, I’ve just hit a wall and want to see what other people — who are more familiar with the character — have to say. Or if there's an official novel I should check out (or even an "almost as good as/better than canon" fanfic), you can point me in that direction too.

TL;DR What are some ways I could make Sylvanas' fall into villainy make logical sense, with the stipulation that the Jailer isn't a factor and Teldrassil has to happen by her hand?
