Opila Bird's chicks! I redesigned them so now each one has a unique appearance. They don't have wall art depictions because they weren't planned, they just kind of happened. Opila and Tarta made them of their own accord but it wasn't seen as something strange or scary, it was treated like when baby animals are born at a zoo. Banban's resort RLLY capitalized on it LOL. Would you buy a plushie of them if they were real?
They're all roughly the same age, but I like to think Birthday Bird acts like the oldest sibling and Little Beak (originally named Shortcake) is treated as the youngest due to her small stature. Icecream Cake and Cupcake don't have apparent genders cuz I rlly couldn't decide when I redesigned them, I just knew I wanted at least one of the pink chicks to be a boy (hence Birthday Bird's roosterlike appearance).
As indicated by his name, Birthday Bird was often taken from his flock and presented to children on their birthdays. He was pretty well behaved and the most friendly towards humans, and was more familiar with the other mascots than his siblings were. He probably liked Banban! He was very well fed-- kids would often give him crumbs of cake if they didn't eat all of it. Of course, Banban would get jealous if they didn't give him a slice too.
Cupcake was born without a beak and wears a bucket over their head to cover it up. I'm not sure if it hurts, but it is definitely hard for them to eat. I imagine they had a specific caretaker that'd feed them by hand every day when the resort was open. After it was abandoned I imagine the chicks slowly got sicker and sicker due to the lack of food, which Cupcake would've suffered the worst from.
I attempted to vary the chicks' genetics a bit, so none of them look exactly like either parent-- They're generally not very Tarta-esque (I assume Tarta was not planned until literally banban 3 & Devilfood's unique coloring was originally meant as a ref to Opila's unused color scheme "the haze") but I wanted Shortcake and Icecream Cake to be slightly more red to reflect Tarta's markings, and I drew Angelfood with blue feathers on her wings to reflect his main feather color. On the other side of the coin, I depicted Devilfood with yellow beak and feet because that's how he looks in Punchrush (which I think is off model since Tarta also has this inconsistency but it's unique anyways). Maybe I should've drawn Cupcake with red feet like Tarta's?
I named and designed these guys during a brief stay in a hospital (don't worry I'm ok now LOL) and I didn't have internet there, so I had to ask the staff and fellow patients for ideas on cake flavors instead of going with my initial plan of using different language words for cake (matching Tarta and Opila's names). So, the placeholders I used then totally stuck lol.

perhaps, it was also due to the fact that jiro's scent lingered on him with how much time they spent together. ryo wasn't entirely a stranger to him in that sense ; finding some sort of familiarity in him after all. "he's lovely. i can see why you like it here." even though he did not know rei, her apartment gave a few clues as to what kind of person she is. neatly organized, & clean. the kind of apartment that you'd see in pinterest boards but with a touch of life to it. not impersonal unlike his own, & even jiro's.
"maybe you should've checked up on her... just to know where she is." & mostly have an idea of how long she could possibly take. at least, they managed to finish on time. looking around the living room, ryo had to briefly wonder if this was something his brother had already thought about, or if it really came out of nowhere, as the space that they ended up settling with was beyond perfect. spacious, but still by a corner, where it wouldn't be in the way. at the mention of carrots, his eyes momentarily glanced back to where the kitchen is & hummed. "maybe she has some?" he had to wonder, although ideally, they'd have baby carrots instead to lure these little creatures out of their box. like them, taro was also watching attentivelyâwaiting for them to come out.
around that time, rei already on the lift leading to her apartment floor with a few bags in hand. her stare was fixed on the numbers as they went up, until the chime of the door opening drew her eyes forward. on the outside, there were no signs of any intrusion, so she was none the wiser about what was going on inside. some of the bags were carried on her other hand so that she could be able to insert the code of her door, & upon hearing that, ryo glanced over his shoulder before staring at jiro. "just in time."
her shoes were left by the door with a sigh of exhaustion escaping her lips. despite using those recycle bags rather than plenty of the plastic ones, the weight of it wasn't something she could save herself from. just as she was about to step into the kitchen, two bodies were caught with her peripheral view. her body froze, making her stop in her tracks. her bags would've been dropped if it wasn't for how tightly she onto to them. her mild scare diminished upon seeing jiro & her eyes were drawn towards where the two were sitting on the floor. the other man's outfit & exposed tattooed skin told her enough about his identityâprobably the brother he often spoke about.
"you..." nearly gave her a heart attack like that, which prompted her to pout before placing the bags on the counter, freeing herself from having to carry anything any further & approach them with ease. her curious gaze tried to look past them. "what are you doing? you could've told me you were coming." & accompanied, for that matter. rei gave ryo a glance, to which he returned along with his introduction ; bowing to her. "omori ryo. forgive me for the intrusion, but he required of my help." he said, compelling the two of them to look over at jiro, before she realized her mistake. "shiro rei. pleasure to meet you." although, under different circumstances it would've been better. she, too, bowed her head & shoulders prior to approaching them & kneeling between the two. "what's...?" all this, she wanted to say, but wasn't completely blind-sided either. everything pointed at something in specific, but rei couldn't bring herself to say it & be wrong. her eyes met jiro's for a moment before looking down at the carrier, feeling her excitement rise. "can i...?" it was as if she was at a loss for words, still not believing any of this until she peeked inside the carrier & gasped. both of her hands were placed over her mouth, staring at jiro as if silently begging for confirmation that this was real.
"Damn, ... and you don't even have food for him." He was almost jealous at Ryo, considering how much Taro seemed to like him by now, but at the same time, he definitely deserved it and he was happy for him, considering how much he had started to like Taro just through photos alone. "Your first love, ... or second," he teased.
"Don't make me start worrying about her," Jiro huffed as he seriously had to wonder now, what took her so long, but she never came during specific times, due to either grocery shopping or her shit boss. There were too many factors. Even traffic. "Now I know what we forgot, carrots and such... hay alone sure won't tempt these stressed furballs..." He would frown at the box. "Nah, nah... I was told to give them time... I just didn't think ... this much time." It just had been a few minutes so far. Disappointing. Cats sure were more adventurous.
Jiro stared at him. "Yeah... forcing them out sure will like them us more." Knowing full well, what Ryo might be thinking about.

Crying sobbing and weeping till either Cater or Che'nya gives me a kissy
⧠cherry magic
note: you caught me in a cater mood, but tbf che'nya was a close contender. i might write something for him when i'm in the mood if you ever wanna req the skrunkly ever again hehe. (bonus points if it involves giving him ear scritches cause he reminds me of my cat who suspiciously acts just like him lmao)
"Cater. Cater~ CATER. Cay-kun! Cray-cay. These will start getting worse if you don't pay attention to me," you pouted at the red-head situated across from you who surprisingly, was actually doing the school work he was assiged. Probably forced to by Riddle, but doing school work nonetheless.Â
But of course, you being you, had wanted to do something a little different and were not about to give up on your quest to get the attention of your dear Cater.
"This is so unfair, you always distract me when I have to do important stuff [Name]~" Cater sighed out, emerald green eyes no longer being able to focus on anything other than you. He is aware it's a bad idea to get tempted now, but then again, he also is very aware he will not regret this later.
"Ha, victory once more!" you grinned, standing up to walk over to where your boyfriend was sitting and trying to solve some boring old math equations.
"Hm? So what exactly do you need? It's usually me battling for your attention y'know. Which by the way, Ace and Deuce don't deserve!" with a playful wink, Cater scoots over so you can sit down beside him, fully abandoning his previous task.
"Oh you know, I want the usual. A kiss, which by the way, I deserve!" you mirrored his speech, noticing the slight crimson hue settling on his freckled face.
"Way to catch me off guard hun!" you giggled at the response before drawing a bit closer, eyes full of mirth and watching the boys' composure crumble further. For someone so extroverted and confident, he really was easy to fluster, huh?Â
"You should've expected it really, I always ask for the same thing," you took Carter's face in between your hands, heartbeat speeding up at the genuine smile spreading on his face.
"Everything feels new when it's with you though, so my point still stands~" voice hushed, the read-head placed one of his own hands on your own before using the other to settle at the back of your head. Wasting almost no time, he drew in closer until you could feel his lips pressed up against your own, cherry chapstick invading all your senses.
After a few seconds, which felt like more than just that, he pulled away and gazed into your eyes; you swear nobody has ever regarded you in such a loving manner.
"Who knew you could be so romantic?" you could barely breathe with how flustered you felt at both the proximity and his actions.
"Cherry chapstick magic hun, that one Magicam post recommendation was so right," your lover had fully drawn back, covering his mouth with his hand as he observed your expression with giddiness.
"Well, you better share it with me because it worked wonders," you relaxed into the seat with a laugh, desperately trying to will the blush on your face away as Cater used his free hand to hold yours all the while gazing at your happy form.
He really should've been paying attention to the work, but how could he when the attention he had wanted from you was right there for him to grab?

Realized I never publicly dropped the lore about the depiction of Sergy Lermantoff that i made in collaboration with @sp00kfr0st so im gonna try to fix that!
Here are big details about him that y'all might be interested in.~
He has no interest in the guardian vs Pitch conflict these days. He didnt at first but was swayed in by Pitch's honeyed words. Sergy doesn't care about children and their belief. He just wants to stay tucked away in his Valley Of Lost Dreams and experiment with the dreamsand.
Sergy is an expert on dreamglass. It was his study of it that drew Pitch there in the first place, besides the rumors of the Valley itself. He likes to melt it down and put irrelevant dreams next to each other in mosiacs. The experiments he does isn't really ethical but he doesn't care. It isn't like hes harming actual people.
Sergy doesn't have many allies outside his valley but he has a handful! (See below)
Ombric was a good friend and they studied magic together. Sergy stole a number of books from The Library Of Alexandria with Ombric's assistance. Ombric foresaw the library burning down and Sergy impulsively acted(to the surprise of no one who knew him) He looks upon those books fondly and misses his old friend.
Sandy was suspicious of Sergy at first but had a silent truce with him prior to Sergy's serpent transformation. When he heard Sergy was saved and was back in the valley... it made him curious. They began to slowly develop a tight friendship as Sandy vowed to help keep him out of the war between Pitch and The Guardians. Sandy helped clarify things about dreams and reignited Sergy's fixation on his former studies. Presently, Sandy is one of his closest friends and playfully teases him whenever he visits.
Mother Nature is his closest ally alongside Sandy. It was her who saved him from death by the guardian's hands after hearing him actually say how he didnt want to die. (Which should've been impossible for him to speak in his serpent form.) She kept him in her realm to help try to reverse his curse and her merciful act confused Sergy greatly. Her patience, mercy and protectiveness allowed him to be more vulnerable around her. He knew she had a connection with Pitch but never tried to pry. He knew she was hurt by him in some form and felt a kinship with her. They feel no romantic love for each other, but the platonic love between them is strong. He adores her visits and watching her navigate under the valley's dizzying effects. She saw past his monsterous exterior and he saw past her intimidating stature and hardened walls. They saw themselves as two monsters finding someone who could finally understand them.
He has a signature weapon! Its called a Ranseur. It has some stones imbedded in it that renders certain entities/spirit's powers null. It mostly effects dream spirits.
Sergy has happened upon unfortunate humans that were claimed by the valley multiple times. If outsiders aren't careful, they will fall into an endless sleep as their dreams flow through the valley until they die. He has no power over the fate of one in such a condition. All a victim can hope for is that Sergy finds them before they fall into the cursed slumber. He's indifferent to seeing such sites ironically enough. The most he does is leave an offering out of respect and then let the valley have whatever is left of them.
He's kind of an asshole who doesn't care much for human life. Considering he is barely considered a human at this point, he doesnt see it as hypocritical. If a human dies in the valley then he does not focus on it. Its those who die while suffering that make him care.
If you asked me what -core aesthetic fit him the most, it'd be Dreamcore/Weirdcore. The valley he lives in makes outsiders hallucinate wildly in similar manners to dreams or just batshit visuals. He loves to document what people experience and watch them trip out in his presence. Sergy has a high resistance to the valley's affects but he can allow it to overtake him for a short amount of time.
His relationship with Pitch is dubious present day. They have yet to interact after Sergy was presumed dead. Pitch has no idea Sergy is alive and Sergy tries to keep it that way. Pitch tries to bury their past yet he cant bring himself to throw out the dream mosiac Sergy made for him. Sergy has very conflicting feelings over Pitch and tries to avoid talking about him. They were initially drawn to each other by pure fascination, since Sergy showed no fear over Pitch and did morally questionable things with Dreams. While Pitch's powers over nightmares appealed to the darker side of Sergy's interest of dreams.
His home is what you would imagine a magical dream wizard researcher would have, but you'd be surprised at the odd pieces of furniture he has tucked away. Sometimes outsider's hallucinations inspired him to conjure odd furniture just because it sounded hilarious to him. His favorite piece so far is an inflatable chair shaped like a bear. The concept sounded so bizarre to him that he couldn't resist.
Sergy Lermantoff is gay! đłď¸âđ
Thank u for reading abt our scaley grumpy boy. If you'd like to read abt his encounter with Pitch, check out my fic below! (More are coming including his backstory with Mother Nature)

Blue Changes
We had a fun little challenge, we picked a prompt and had 3, 15 minute sprints to write something for the prompt. Then 24 hours for light editing to finish sentences if needed, grammar etc. This is my take on the the prompt "Has anyone ever told you just how adorable you are Because you really are." Dedicated to @verfound đ§Ą
âMarinette, where is my favorite designer at?!â Jagged burst into the studio, Fang trotting happily next to him on her leash and Penny multitasking between her phone call and tablet. Technically he was supposed to be on a plane to New York, but decided to swing by Paris on his way because he had an idea that just could not wait and wanted to check on his unofficial niece anyways. There was only one speed bump in that plan, the studio was completely empty. The chaos of fabric strewn about and pieces half cut with scissors still mid snip definitely screamed someone was working hard or trying to at least, the mannequin with a half-pinned design and ripped fabric seemed to lean toward the latter.
âLooks like sheâs not here⌠Must be taking a break. Penny, why donât we order from my favorite bakery and make sure something extra special for Marinette. Iâm glad we came here before the next stop on tour.â Jagged poked around at the sketches laying in abandon on the desk, some half crumbled on the floor and more stacked on a sketchbook.
âSeems like she is having some massive creators block⌠We should treat her when we have a break on the tour.â Penny suggested, already on the phone with Tom and trying to insist they would pay for their order.
Some of the sketches were brilliant but had marks of black throughout them, others were completely marked out and you could not even tell what the design was to start with. It hurt to physically see what pain Marinette was going through, most of the ones with the darker markings were of the same style. He could clearly see the thought of Adrien in the suits and matching dresses for Marinette, the anger of the marks showing something had happened or changed. Sighing heavily, Jagged gathered the papers, Fang batting the ones further away with her tail over to her owner. One paper had him blinking in surprise.
âPenn! Pen! Lookie here! D'ya see this?!â jagged shouted, shoving the paper into his assistantâs face, not even minding when she sighed and pushed it to a proper distance. It was a one-of-kind leather jacket and a custom hoodie drawn to match it. Either could be worn seperate or paired together. The colors were a contrast of electric blue and smokey turquoise, the theme was music and snake. Jagged recognized it as a rough sketch due to the lack of color or material notes along the edge that appeared on her finished drafts.
âWhy was this crumpled up? Itâs a really great idea!â Penny wondered aloud, noticing that the eccentric rockstar she commonly felt like she had to babysit was scheming. âJagged no, whatever is it the answer is no.â
The door opened and in walked the designer they were looking for, Marinette seemed stressed and a bit run down. Her hair was thrown into a messy bun, one sleeve was pushed higher than the other and her shirt was wrinkled where it was tucked into her pencil skirt. Flip flops clacked along with her steps, another sign she was worn out if the basic shoe was more preferred to her custom made and very comfortable flats. An energy drink dangled from one hand and her design tablet occupied the other. Both guests watched as she made it all the way to her desk without noticing they were there.
âI have no idea what I'm going to do! I don't have anyone that fits that one or the orange one⌠I could make it a dress but who would wear it?! Ugh! Iâm going to fail at this rate and then I won't graduate and I'll never design again, who would want something made by a failure-â Fang chose that moment to nudge her head onto the petite womanâs lap, startling her so bad she screamed and fell out of her chair.
âWell I reckon that I would love to have exclusive rights to all designs made by my favorite niece but we all know thatâs not fair to the rest of the world. Now I know you are in a pinch and youâre stuck like a boat in the desert, so youâre going to take a break, spend some time with uncle Jay and make sure that you show poor Fang some love, she was all excited and you just screamed right in her poor face. Câmere my poor baby, Marinette is so mean I know.â Jagged showed the croc in love through pets and scratches.Â
âWhen.. How, why?â Poor Marinette was lost and couldn't believe the rockstar was in her studio when he should've been halfway around the world for the next stop on his tour.Â
âOkay, the only thing weâre doing right now is leaving all this behind for a much needed break for food and maybe a nap in your case. Time to relax and stop stressing for a minute." Penny authoritatively stepped in, stacking the papers on the desk, handing Marinette her purse and phone and with the help of Fang scooted the younger woman out the door.
Marinette protested "Wait I need to finish, it has to be done! I can't take a break, I just did!"
"Negative, now it's time for chow, and you need a shower, at your parents then we need to have a little chat. Ladies first!" Jagged gently shoved the designer into the car with cheer, allowing Fang and Penny to enter before him.Â
"So my little brilliant niece, we have some great news and a rock and roll deal for you! Can't tell you what is until after you've taken a break though." They grinned as Marinette grumbles as she gave fang the attention she wanted until they pulled up to the bakery.
Getting out of the car first, Marinette sighed at the smell of her parents baking, the smell melting off some stress like butter melting on a fresh from the oven croissant roll. Her stomach grumbled and she opened the door for the other guests, sneaking an excited Fang upstairs to not scare the other customers. Deciding to take a refreshing shower, Marinette went to her bathroom and put on some zen meditation music before getting in the shower. Quick ten minutes later and she was feeling much more alive and hungry. On a whim she grabbed a random outfit that she had made but never worn, pleated plaid skirt with a red checker pattern offset by the off the shoulder fitted top in a burgundy color, and threw it on before joining her guests.Â
"Oi looking good! One of yours?" Jagged shouted with his mouth full, causing Penny to smack his arm as a reminder to use manners.Â
"Sure is! Never worn it before but decided change can be a good thing and sometimes you have to start the change instead of waiting for it to happen." Grabbing her favorite pastry and a croissant because you can't just smell one and not eat it, she missed the concerned look her adopted guardians shared.
"So your studio was, well, you seem to be having a hard time." Pen tried to be gentle but made a face at her words.
"Yeah⌠Life is⌠Changing." Marinette mused, picking at the pastry.
"Marinette, what can Uncle Jay do to help?" Jagged's serious tone drew her gaze and his heart broke at the sight of unshed tears.
"I uhm well. I- That is, we-" With a huff, she calmed down and a look of determination shone on her face. "Adrien asked me out, on a date date in this really elaborate way. I turned him down. I have no idea what I was thinking but when he asked me I was so happy and then all I could think of was blue and how soft its is and it can be so calm or so chaotic and itâs always changing like the ocean but yet it's always the same and there this feeling of calm and I just couldn't say yes."
The quiet settled into a slightly awkward silence, Marinette was ignoring it and Penny was having nonverbal argument with Jagged on what to say next. With an eye roll that spoke louder than her shouting at him, the assistant took the lead once more. Quietly she rose from the chair she was occupying and sat next to the young designer smoothing out the crumpled sketch she had taken from the studio.
"Is this the blue you're talking about?"Â
"Yeah⌠Thatâs my blue." A gentle smile touched peach lips briefly, blue eyes going soft.
"Is this the skater kid?"
"Skater kid?" Marinette blinked in confusion.
"Nah Pen it's the boat kid."
"He has a name you guys!" Marinette broke down into giggles, looking much more like herself and less like a zombie just waltzing around and going through the motions. "His name is Luka, yes the one who went me skating with Adrien and Kagami, yes the boat kid who has a heart way too big for just his mom and sister. And now meâŚ"
"Sounds like you made a change?" Penny prompted smiling widely.
"A blue one yeah, I did."
"Has anyone ever told you just how adorable you are?" Jagged shouted, picking up the younger woman and swinging her around as she shrieked.Â
"Okay Jagged, let's not take over her whole day. We did have a reason to show up here after all." Penny handed the tablet to Marinette after he relinquished his hold. "This is what we're looking at for a surprise concert once we are back here in Paris. There's some issues I'm ironing out but I wanted to see what you think and if you would take lead on the design aspect."
"Wait, lead designer for your show?" Blue bell eyes swiveled between ocean blue and hazel sets, wide with disbelief and building excitement.
"Yup, this tablet is yours by the way. I do ask you to keep just business on it for the show, if you want more traditional sketches that's fine but once it's done it needs to be uploaded on here." Jagged explained, clapping a red clad shoulder.
"Oh you need an opening act? I've got that covered." The sparkle was finally back in her eye to match the mischievous grin.
"I agree with Jagged, are you sure no one has said it before because you really are adorable."

On another site Star Wars Trivia:
Chewie stood on a small landing and pounded his mighty clenched fists against the unmoving hatch. He didnât want to stand in the putrid pool of liquid filling the room beneath all the trash.
Luckily he, Luke, and Leia had avoided being hit by a deadly bolt from Lukeâs blaster which had bounced from wall to wall before slamming into a pile of floating metallic trash, destroying it.
The room was magnetically sealed. Their weapons wouldnât help them.
At that moment, Han fell from the darkened chute above, landing in the trash piles as they had just moment before.
He stood up, finding his footing as best he could on top of the garbage, silently assessing the situation before turning to Leia. âThe garbage chute was a really wonderful idea!â
He continued condescendingly, âWhat an incredible smell youâve discovered.â
Chewie was still trying to open the hatch of trash compactor 3263827. Han caught sight of him and drew his blaster. âLetâs get out of here. Get away from there.â
Luke tried his best to stop him. âNo, wait!â
Han fired, and again, the blast ricocheted around the room, narrowly missing each of them before blasting the trash.
âWill you forget it, I already tried it, itâs magnetically sealedâ, gesturing to the hatch.
Leia lit into him, âPut that thing away, youâre going to get us all killed!â
Han glared at her. âAbsolutely your worship. Look I had everything under control until you led us down here. You know itâs not going to take them very long to figure out what happened to us.â
Leia fired back, âIt could be worse.â
Suddenly a deep, inhuman moaning boiled up from beneath the trash and water, echoing off the disgusting walls.
âItâs worseâ said Han, looking around for the source of the noise, blaster drawn.
The trash compactor footage was shot June 21st and 22nd 1976 on stage 4 at Elstree Studios. On June 24th, two days after this scene was completed, Harrison Ford wrapped his last day working on âStar Warsâ by filming his scenes in the 'Falcon's gun turret, for the getaway from the Death Star.
The detention block escape scene, followed by the Trash Compactor scene, is the first time the hero band of Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewbacca merges on screen. Luke is trying to keep the peace while Han and Leia are sniping at each other, and the undeniable chemistry tells you this is something special. Itâs the perfect mix of alarm and humor that makes Star Wars work at itsâ core.
As protection against the slimy water, the actors had the option of wearing a wetsuit under their costumes. Carrie thought it was mandatory, and wore hers for both days of shooting (Likely a tan skin color based on the images seen and with it being under her white costume dress).
Carrie: âI liked jumping through the garbage chute, but didnât like wearing the wet suit. It was under my white gown, for protection, or I was going to look like Walter Brennan from the waist down from being in the water so long.â
British cameraman Ronnie Taylor, who passed away in 2018, also wore fishing waders, as did Focus puller Peter Taylor.
Roger Christian, set decorator said âThe garbage compactor set was also pretty hard, because I knew I had actors in there and the walls had to come in, and they had to be in dirty water and I had to get stuff that would be light enough so it wouldn't hurt them but also not bobbing around." The set was dressed by Brian Lofthouse and the rest of the prop crew.
Even before the terror of the converging walls began, Luke and the others were visited by a live resident of the compact, the Dianoga. A lone eye stalk appeared out of the water to spy on its prey, and the something that moved past Lukeâs leg was a large tentacle.
That same tentacle wound up and around Lukeâs leg, body, and throat, strangling him and ultimately pulling him under the putrid water. Only after hearing the clanging indications that the compactor was about to come to life did it release him.
In order to portray the realism of the scene, Mark strenuously made himself appear as if he were being strangled.
Mark Hamill:
âI purposely made myself red-faced for a strangulated look, causing a blood vessel in my eye to burst. Afterwards-they had to shoot carefully to hide it until I healed. George told me I should've asked him first because with the lighting and red-filters it made no difference.â
It was Markâs left eye that was affected. He was examined by the studioâs Dr. Collins, and then he was sent to be seen by eye specialist Dr. Watson.
Originally, the Dianoga was to have been a much larger creature, and be responsible for far more of the sequence than it ended up being.
Lucas described the Dianoga creature he envisioned in his mind this way: âItâs a cross between a jellyfish and as octopus, a transparent muck-monster which can take any shape. It presses itself against the floor or in nooks and crannies of the trash masher, or even in the trash itself to survive.â
Ultimately he had to scale back on the size of the part the Dianoga would play. It was yet another compromise. He had tried a trash compactor escape scene in THX 1138 and he had to cut it out because âit failed miserablyâ.
John Stears, Special production and mechanical effects supervisor, said they created a much larger monster, which was ultimately cut down from a full body to a tentacle when Lucas decided to combine the original, larger Dianoga encounter with the trash compactor scene. âThere was an awful lot of work that went into that monster, and it really was superb. Unfortunately we couldnât use it in its entirety. You never see the full body, just the tentacles.â
During pre-production there had been a plan to inflate the monster, so it would seem to emerge from the water. Budget cuts forced Lucas to combine scenes, so that idea was scrapped. A smaller tank had to be used, and the full scale monster became physically impossible on the resulting set.
As a result of the scaled down scene, the iconic head/eye that pops up out of the water and looks around was added at the last minute. Phil Tippett and Jon Berg sculpted it and filmed it on a stage at ILM. It was made from latex over foam, and featured hand-punched hair and a mechanism that allowed it to blink. A puppeteering rod allowed it to be turned from side to side so it could look around the trash compactor. The trash and debris in the garbage for their shoot included pieces from exploded pyrotechnic X-wings, and wreckage from the exploded Death Star.
George initially intended for music to play a part in the Trash Compactor/Dianoga scene, but ultimately decided to remove it to allow the creatureâs noises, and its movement in the water to be heard, giving the scene a more ominous feel and tone.
Because the compactor room was a hollow metal chamber, Sound designer Ben Burtt ring modulated vocals, and added echo. He took inspiration from the technique used for the devil in âThe Exorcistâ and used them for the sounds of the Dianoga. A ring modulator takes two signals and multiples them to create two new frequencies.
When the Dianoga retreats, and impending danger becomes immediate danger with the walls closing in, music returns to ramp up the tension.
From the original LP liner notes by John Williams for Side 3: Track 4, âThe Walls Convergeâ:
âThe walls begin to close together and the group helplessly fights to stop them. Finally C-3PO and R2-D2 come to the rescue and, at the last minute, stop the walls from crushing the group. This music has no thematic connection with anything else. I wanted to create a dark threatening sound which would represent the jeopardy of the group. I intentionally used low end music so it would co-exist with the grinding sound effects of the big steel walls.â
George was not happy with having to cut down the scene, and on one of the days Mark noticed he was a little down. He was waiting for another take to be set up - a scuba diver playing the part of the Dianoga to pull him under the water.
From Mark: âI hadnât planned this, it was just out of desperation that this idea came into my head what with the monster being called a dianoga and everything. I picked up one of the little bits of green pieces of styrofoam floating on the water and, to the tune of âChattanooga Choo Choo,â I started to sing, âPardon me, George, could this be dianoga poo-poo?'â
Lucas responded by putting his foot on Markâs chest and pushing him into the water.
As a result of standing in the disgusting, murky water over the two days, Peter Mayhewâs yak-hair Chewbacca suit reeked for the rest of production.
The scene immediately after the heroes exit the compactor was shot in continuity, in what was called the âdisused hallwayâ, explaining why it wasnât filled with Stormtroopers or others noticing their exit from the compactor.
Before filming the scene, Mark had taken a look at the continuity of the film up to that shot, and was concerned.
âI remember saying things like, âWell, wait a minute. I just got out of the trash compactor. How come my hairâs all perfect?â And Harrison replied, âHey kid, it ainât that kind of movie.â And I thought, heâs so right.â â Mark Hamill.

I'm flattered! I have had other ideas of how it should've played out.
According to Yana Toboso in the second art book for Black Butler, "The second season complete original, so I very much enjoyed it as an ordinary viewer. However, I suggested "Sebastian and Ciel lose" as the ending and that they so badly that it can't be undone. I personally feel the second season ended in the "blackest" way possible. I drew this illustration with the anime version of Sebastian, who revealed many expressions you'll never see in the manga, in mind. Alois and company's smiles signify that "death" does not equal "defeat". Ciel's eyes are drawn differently than usual.
This picture is the one she is talking about.
With this information about "the blackest defeat", I came up with this other ideas.
Idea 1: The ending goes as follows, but Sebastian is pretending to be miserable about his new found "slavery" so he can pull the wool from Ciel's eyes later. Contract seals still intact? Illusions. (We saw him use in the first episodes of season 1 and 3. He can easily pull this off.) That sad face? His greatest challenge yet, because he is trying not to laugh at how things turned out! Naturally, he was shocked at the turn of events that lead his master/prized calf turning into a demon and, but after thinking it over Sebastian realizes that Ciel is still his since he finished the contract. But instead of telling him right away, he decides to toy with him one last time before bossing him forever so he can have the privilege to tell the kid he loathed, "I lied." When the cat is out of the bag in hell (haha), everything else ends the way it did in my first post.
Idea 2: Instead of beating Claude, Sebastian dies. Claude goes through what Sebastian did in the last episode. Originally, I thought Claude would try to make Ciel serve him since he would be more up front about it, but thinking on it a little more Claude would just leave Ciel alone after learning for sure that he was a full demon. Ciel, now a demon, knowing that Sebastian is gone has no one to show him the ropes on how to be a demon and control his powers really wishes he was still around. I thought he would reflect on how powerless he is in his state and end it then and there, but he would probably, or eventually, just become a wandering demon instead of going back to London as a result to trying to start all over.
But in the last episode he choose to spend time with Lizzie one final time before going to hell. Would he try to do that before leaving for good? Likely, but Sebastian sorted out the final steps needed before leaving. How would Ciel do that without Sebastian?
Thoughts?

Kuroshitsuji II - Demon Master
I find that I am exceptionally depressed for Sebastian⌠how could they deprive him of his ultimate meal after all they put him through, now heâs stuck for eternity serving a spoilt 13 year old brat (not that I donât adore Ciel)
