It happened and Leviathan was actually pretty stoked about it, once the jaw healed.

Orre doesn't have heroes. That's what everyone said. It's a lawless region where everyone fends for themselves. The water and good resources are hoarded by the Elite in Phenac City, leaving the rest begging for scraps.

No, Orre didn't have heroes. Well, maybe that wasn't entirely true. She called herself Mare. Nobody knew where she came from, she had just fallen from the sky one day with no memory. After fighting off a few thugs who had thought she was a corpse and intended to loot her body, she stumbled her way into Pyrite Town where she quickly became the talk of the town for beating up a couple of Snagem Grunts.

Since it was the first place she had come to and there wasn't much else out there besides desert, Mare made Pyrite Town her new home and named herself its protector. A lot of the locals had objections to this. She was some random outsider. A complete stranger. What business did she have getting involved in their affairs. But a lot of them changed their tune when Mare proved herself by preforming a daring one woman raid on the Snagem hideout, rescuing dozens of Pokemon and possibly, maybe, accidentally blowing it up a little.

Additionally, she had an unusual ability. Purifying a Shadow Pokemon was a long and arduous process that could take months or even years. But Mare was able to do it in a matter of days. She was able to connect with Pokemon on a deeper and more fundamental level than anybody else there.

Cipher, of course, wasn't particularly pleased by this development and were forced to move up development of Project XD in order to combat her and restore their stranglehold on the Region. So she kicked their asses too.

With Mare around, quality of life in Pyrite Town improved immensely. It wasn't perfect, it never would be, but it was a lot better than what it was. It felt like they were actually living rather than just surviving. What's more, Mare just had this infectious positivity about her, giving a sense of hope that many in the town hadn't felt in a long time, if ever. Plus, she loved a good brawl, as any good Pyrite Town Citizen does.

No, Orre doesn't have heroes. But it does have Mare. And its a good thing cause a new threat is looming on the horizon: Leviathan, the Thousand Year Gyarados and President of Orre (she ate the last president), the very reason Orre is in this state, is coming to finish what she started.

y'all i've been upset about nanowrimo's shenanigans since last year, when kids weren't safe, and now there's this AI shitshow, and i want to cry about it again, because nano has been SO IMPORTANT to me since 2008--it helped me hack my writing process and make a bunch of cool shit, and i've written so many stories i love using it as a jumping off point. but. we gotta protect kids, and we gotta get the fuck out of here with AI bullshit.

so. the decision i have come to is that i will still be participating in nano. but now it stands for "now a's [that's me] novel writing month." i'm still going to write a book in november, and i'm still going to shoot for the 1,667 words/day (even though my finished projects wind up way longer than that, invariably), because i've structured my creative life around this routine, but i won't be using their site any more.

i will also not be tagging my november project posts as nanowrimo, but i WILL still be tagging them as "nano[YEAR]" (because that's been my tagging system for untitled projects for uh. years.). and it's now a's novel writing month :)

I mean, there is a directory, it's on @pkmnirlevents. It's just that nobody really seems to use it. Which is a shame, because it's a good resource!

i also feel like all the high-stakes stuff makes it harder for new people to break into the community. like, i restarted my pkmn irl blog recently, and i feel like it's very hard to make casual posts when there are popular characters being murdered three posts down on my dashboard.

Agreed on this point too.

I did take a break and coming back was, somewhat difficult when high stakes was happening.

i am So sorry to my irls and any of my other friends named madison or madeleine or anything that can be shortned to maddy because now when i think of maddy i think of this very lovely discord user who gets so fucking pissed whenever they get reminded of my existence like we are in a public server and i will type in a channel, not at all referencing or vagueing them, saying something relating to the channel subject, and they will respond, fuming, with shit like "nobody wants you here. nobody cares about you. you should leave the server. kill yourself." instead of doing the sane normal person thing of just leaving themself. they've stopped responding to me lately tho, makes me think they've actually learned that i feed off their negativity.

cosmo wanda i fucking wish students understood that universities have limited reach and that public silence does not automatically mean no action is being taken internally and that the decisions of collectives / institutions do not reflect the decisions of all of the people within them (e.g. all faculty staff and administrators within an institution) etc etc. god DAMN it to hell. you people (not anyone reading this im saying this as if im talking to the student body at my school) look so fucking stupid @ing the social media accounts of distinct departments like that’s actually going to do anything. you think they ARENT doing anyrhing????? that’s probably ALL they’re focusing on rn and they’re spending days carefully gathering information so they can share it. and shit is hitting the fan in MULTIPLE areas rn if you haven’t noticed and also it’s winter fucking break so no one is even supposed to be working anyway. so what is wrong with you. why are you fucking making demands. getting a college to finally post an update about something is not the same as cancelling someone on twitter and the fact that so many of you think it is is indicative of how SICK our society has become.
