I made it 22 days without an acute migraine attack and then the humidity and temperature spiked again and wrecked my streak*.
I will say if yesterday was a migraine it was a comparatively mild one that I managed to sleep through the worst of it.
Which seems to confirm that my debilitating daily migraines are being caused by screens (other than my phone which seems perfectly fine) and some damage in my neck which the PT and fancy pillow seems to be helping.
As soon as I sit down in front of any screen other than my phone, the pain starts to build behind my eyes and the nausea starts. So not doing that for a while.
I was enjoying not praying for death every day and I intend to keep it that way until I can afford a different screen.
Which will probably be a while considering I owe $3k to the ER for this month alone, plus whatever the fuck this MRI is going to cost on Friday.
I’m ready for this year to be over 🫠
——
*I don’t include the occipital neuralgia or low level headaches in this category so I was still in what many people would consider moderate to severe pain in my skull, but it wasn’t the searing pressure I get from migraines with the awful vomiting which nothing seems to stop.
I’ve got another follow up with neurologist in two months. I’m honestly not sure I liked her. She asked if I’d ever tried a chiropractor which set alarm bells off and tells me she didn’t read my fucking file and the whole bit about my neck being irrevocably fucked by a chiro.
She was willing to let me confer with my MCAS doctor before she prescribed Topamax (which I’m not keen on trying. Very few MCAS patients handle it well.) but only because I got the vibe she didn’t want to prescribe me anything other than PT and acupuncture.
She also kept pushing Botox which is not great if you have cranial instability like I do and can actually make it a lot, lot worse. Not to mention the MCAS risk. It was just a very blegh appointment, but at least it’s got me in their system now and I can maybe hop to another doctor at some point if necessary.

You're sick/injured
Ot7 x Reader
Summary: how the members would look after you when you're sick or hurt
Warnings: mentions of illness and injury, nothing serious tho
A/N: just another random idea from my drafts that I wrote at like midnight for while I'm working on requests.
Masterlist
Requests are open
°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•
Jin: Teases you for getting sick, but takes care of you anyway. When you text him what happened, he's literally like "Lol, maybe if you had listened to me about wearing a jacket, this wouldn't have happened, smh..." only to show up at your door and hour later with soup and meds. Stays and watches bad sci-fi shows with you till you fall asleep.
Yoongi: Probably the most calm in this situation. Tries to find a balance between looking after you and giving you space without making you feel isolated. Will tease you like Jin, unless you're feeling really shitty.
"If you die, I get(pets name), right?
"Excuse me?!"
"What? Holly would make a great big brother!"
Hobi: I feel like he would play it up a bit, showing up decked out in gloves and a mask(or a diy haz-mat suit), just to make you laugh.
"I didn't want risk catching anything!"
"It's a sprained ankle, you dork!"
Namjoon: ngl, he tries to be calm and reassuring, but he's freaking out a little bit inside. Tries looking up different remedies to help you get better faster with increasing absurdity.
"What about acupuncture?"
"I'll try it if you do." You challenge him.
"...Nevermind."*quickly closes webpage*
(Please keep him away from web MD. He'll end up convinced that you're dying for a minute)
Jimin: Plays it up like Hobi. Gets you a little bell so he can act as your butler for the week. Might start to regret it when you start to use it for silly stuff.
"What do you need?"
"A hug?"
"That's the third time in ten minutes!"(does it anyway though)
Taehyung: Panics like Joon, but for very different reasons. If you're sick, then who's gonna take care of him?! He is BABY! Clings to you for the whole week, as if that will heal you. Probably ends up catching your cold, sorry.
Jungkook: Uses it as an excuse to camp out at your place for the week. Refuses to let you do anything for yourself.
"Ah, you shouldn't be moving around, it's bad for recovery!"
"I'm just getting some more tea."
"Just drink mine."
"No! The way you make it tastes awful!"
*dramatic gasp*"How dare you!"

Migraine (NSFW)
Andrew Marston x Reader
Andrew knows an unconventional way to help you with your migraine.
The pressure in your forehead makes it nearly impossible to focus on the words in front of you. The page is blurry, the black ink morphing together until it is nothing but an indecipherable mass of something vaguely resembling letters. You pause, pinching the bridge of your nose in annoyance and downing another glass of water. Migraine auras are a new experience, one that you do not like at all.
Despite the headache you had woken up with, you did not dare take a day off when the amount of manuscripts on your desk had made you feel on edge for a few days now. You couldn't afford to take a break, could not risk falling further behind than you already were. The thought alone was enough to make you sit down at the desk, pain be damned. The stress of being behind schedule was so much worse anyway.
Pushing through it with a few extra drinks of water and curtains half-closed had not been a good idea.
The mediocre headache keeps getting worse, pain making it hard to think clearly. With the letters swimming in your vision, it is impossible to get any work done, and the sheer annoyance you feel at being unable to complete your work makes you want to scream in frustration.
There is nothing left to do but wait, find some relief from it, and perhaps you could get back to work in a few hours. If you managed to get rid of the migraine, that is.
Water, contrary to popular belief, does not fix everything. Acupuncture did not work for you, and stretching left you dizzy.
You massage the muscles in your neck, stiff from being hunched over your desk all day. A hot shower would be perfect to sooth your aching muscles and get rid of the tension, but the prospect of getting up and going through the motions feels like it costs an overwhelming amount of energy, so you stay put.
“Darling, I found that tea you liked at the store!”
Andrew’s call makes you hiss, burying your face in your hands as a sharp stab of pain shoots through your head. The reply to his happy exclamation dies on your tongue as you squeeze your eyes shut and just breathe through it.
“Darling?” Andrew knocks softly against the half-open door, hesitating at your silence. “What is it?” he asks in light voice.
“I’m fine,” you whisper in response, raising your head but keeping your eyes shut. You reach out your hand, finding his immediately to give it a reassuring squeeze. “Could you draw the curtains properly, please?”
The chaste kiss against your skin is all the answer you get as Andrew moves to darken the room. You sigh in relief, blinking your eyes open slowly.
Light is still faintly streaming in from the open door, and the curtains do not block out the rays of shining sun entirely, but the gentle darkness makes you feel tenfold more comfortable already.
“Headache?” Andrew asks, standing beside you to offer his hand to you. Taking it, you allow him to guide you towards the bed. “Are you alright? Do you need anything?”
His whispers of concern, while not unusual, still cause warmth to spread across your chest, and a small smile appears on your face at the evidence of his infinite care and love for you.
“Fine,” you murmur, sinking into the mattress and rolling over to lie on your back, patting the space beside you in silent invitation.
Andrew hesitates, and you can clearly see the gears turning in his head, his beautiful mind trying to come up with ideas to help you, ways to ease your discomfort.
“Just stay here with me,” you say, "that's all I need, honestly. If you're not busy, that is."
He huffs, lying down beside you and opening his arms for you to nuzzle against his chest. "I'm never busy when you need me, darling," he assures you, his hand tenderly running through your hair and massaging your scalp. "Is this alright?"
You hum, melting under his touch. Although it does not help to lessen the pain, the care Andrew pours into his caresses is soothing, making you drift in his arms.
After a while Andrew sighs, pressing feather-light kisses against your forehead. "Has it improved at all?”
“No,” you answer honestly.
Andrew pauses in contemplation again. “You know,” he begins, “I read somewhere that, well— just in case you’re up for it, of course" — Andrew hesitates — "I read that orgasms can be a relief for headaches. If— if you would like to try it out, I could assist you."
You chuckle at his nervousness, wincing in pain a moment later. "Where did you read that?" you ask exhausted, not oppose to giving it a try.
“I looked into how to treat headaches since you get them so often,” Andrew explains casually as if his words don't make your hear swell with appreciation, nearly bringing tears to your eyes from how much he cares. “I want to help. Last time, you did not want a massage, so I thought an orgasm might be the next best thing to relax you, but it is just a suggestion, as I said. The decision is yours, of course. There is no pressure, darling. We could try a heating pad instead?”
You smile, brushing your hand across his cheek before resting it against the back of his head and pulling him in for a kiss. Nobody has ever made you feel so loved.
He sighs in contentment at the feeling of your lips on his, tilting his head to deepen the kiss.
"I like your first suggestion better," you say, unhurriedly returning to meeting Andrew's soft lips. "But only if you'd like to. I don't want you to feel obligated just because you want to help me."
"I would love to, darling," Andrew murmurs, shifting to disentangle himself from your embrace. "Taking care of you is never a chore. You know I love doing it."
His palms caress your hips, roaming over your thighs before his fingers work to undo your pants. You shrug out of them with his help, releasing a small moan in anticipation.
Andrew rolls to the side of the bed and pulls out a bottle of lube from the bedside drawer. He positions himself between your spread legs, resting his fingers on the hem of your undergarments for a moment, silently asking for permission to remove them.
“Go ahead,” you whisper, closing your eyes and allowing your body to relax, knowing Andrew will take care of you. With a kiss against the inside of your thigh, he pulls them down, exposing you to him.
It does not take him nearly as long as usual to push his fingers inside you. “It’s the orgasm that helps,” he murmurs, softly kissing your stomach as he picks up the pace. “I don’t want you to suffer if I can prevent it.”
Normally, he would have you begging to be fucked before he even unbuttoned your pants, endlessly teasing you because he knew how much you loved it when he took his time , caressing every inch of you and showering you with kisses as you saw the overflowing adoration in his eyes when he glanced up from between your legs.
You chuckle at his sweetness, thankful that he does not feel the need to tease you too much today. The rhythm of his fingers is gentle, working you open and brushing against spots that have quiet moans tumbling from your lips.
“You feel so good,” you whisper in a near whine, arching your back. Through half-lidded eyes, you can see Andrew's sly smile. The pleasure twisting in your core choked back any witty remark. His fingers curl a bit more, making your breath hitch.
"Right here, darling?" he asks, noticing your squirming. You whine, immediately regretting it as stabbing pain shoots through your head again, making you groan instead. His teasing tone fades into one of soothing sincerity, "Relax, I've got you." Andrew slows down, giving you a moment to catch your breath.
“I thought you didn’t want to drag this out?”
“I also don’t want to hurt you,” he answers quietly, slowly picking up the pace again, angling his fingers just right. “Tell me if I’m going too fast. I don’t want to pound you too hard.”
You exhale, getting lost in the pleasure building steadily. “God, if I didn’t have a migraine I would let you rail me into next week.”
Andrew sputters at your words for a long moment and you can clearly picture his flustered face as he leans down to place his lips against your hips, muffling his moan.
“If you keep— ah— right there,” you gasp as he increases the pressure on that sensitive spot, leaving you breathless.
“Are you close?” Andrew asks, the grip you have on his hair tightening as your thighs begin to shake. He keeps going, adamant to have you reach your high. “Come for me when you're ready, darling," he whispers, trailing kisses over your skin, "Whenever you're ready."
As you succumb to the building feeling, the pain in your head is overshadowed by the pleasure dragging you under as Andrew rides out your high, only ceasing when oversensitivity makes you shudder.
"Is it any better?" he asks, lying down next to you. "How are you feeling?"
"Good. It's slightly better," you answer, placing a tender kiss against his forehead, "Thank you, Andrew."
“You know there is nothing I like more than helping you, darling. How about a shower now?”

Blog 1: Chinese Medicine, Me & Food
“A chronic illness turns the patient into a good doctor.”
Chinese proverb
My Experience with traditional Western Medicine
In 2001, I had a complete hysterectomy because I had a seven-pound uterine fibroid. Then in 2002, a needle biopsy of my thyroid was too encased in scar tissue to get an exact diagnosis of the cause of my many symptoms. I had a total thyroidectomy, revealing that I had Hashimoto’s Disease. That surgery, along with thyroid medication, is supposed to end the Hashimoto’s symptoms, but it has not. Getting doctors to believe this to be true proves to be problematic. Their solutions come with risks and side effects I am unwilling to endure.
My Journey
Years of living with digestive issues and other “weird” symptoms has led me to researching and trying measures beyond traditional Western medicine. Therefore, I have been on a journey to become my own health advocate. I have read plenty of articles written by functional medicine practitioners as well as research results from scientific journals.
Over 40 years ago, I gave up alcohol and other mind- or mood-altering drugs. 30 years ago, I gave up coffee and switched to tea. About 15 years ago, I gave up gluten. A couple of years ago, I gave up dairy products other than fermented ones. I have several food and airborne allergies. I have lived on a personalized version of Autoimmune Paleo diet (AIP) for many years.
Where I am at Now
I have had periods of no digestive problems throughout these years. But they are back along with other unhealthy symptoms. Frankly, I am tired of giving stuff up! Since I have had success with acupuncture in the past, I decided to try a more comprehensive Chinese medicine approach. I have an upcoming appointment with an acupuncturist and met with her about Chinese medicine herbal remedies. She gave me many references to consult.
What I Will Share with You
I am going to take a Chinese medicine approach to my relationship to food. As I explore this path, I will share with you what I learn, what obstacles I encounter, and what appears to be working.
Please join me.

The Silent Epidemic: Hot Flashes and Menopause
Menopause, a natural biological process marking the end of a woman's reproductive years, is often accompanied by a constellation of symptoms.
Among these, hot flashes are perhaps the most notorious. While often dismissed as a mere inconvenience, these sudden surges of heat can significantly impact a woman’s quality of life, both physically and emotionally.
Hot flashes, characterized by a sudden sensation of heat, often accompanied by sweating and flushing, are primarily caused by hormonal fluctuations. As estrogen levels decline, the body's thermostat, the hypothalamus, becomes more sensitive to temperature changes. This heightened sensitivity triggers the body's cooling mechanisms, resulting in the familiar symptoms of a hot flash.
Beyond the physical discomfort, hot flashes can have a profound psychological impact. They can disrupt sleep, leading to fatigue and irritability. Embarrassment and self-consciousness can arise from unexpected sweating in public. These symptoms, combined with other menopausal changes, can contribute to mood swings, anxiety, and depression.
The prevalence of hot flashes underscores the need for greater understanding and support. While the experience varies widely among women, it is a common challenge. However, despite its widespread occurrence, menopause and its associated symptoms often remain stigmatized, leading to feelings of isolation and inadequacy.
While there is no definitive cure for hot flashes, various treatment options are available. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been traditionally used to alleviate symptoms, but its use is often debated due to potential risks. Lifestyle modifications, such as regular exercise, stress management, and dietary changes, can help mitigate the severity of hot flashes. Additionally, complementary therapies like acupuncture and herbal remedies have shown promise in some cases.  How you can prevent hot flashes and menopause through
9 Foods to Fight the Hot Flashes
It is crucial to emphasize that menopause is a natural phase of life and should be approached with a holistic perspective. Open conversations about menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes, can help reduce stigma and encourage women to seek appropriate care. Healthcare providers should be equipped to address the concerns of menopausal women comprehensively, offering a range of treatment options and support.
Ultimately, the experience of menopause is unique to each individual. By acknowledging the challenges associated with hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms, we can empower women to navigate this phase of life with confidence and well-being. It is time to shift the narrative surrounding menopause from one of silence and stigma to one of understanding, support, and empowerment. When I mentioned the macabre, bituminous door to Chris, whose demeanor is something like a time-lapse of spring—brutality and kindness cycling in rapturous color—she did not have much to say. She had ministered to me while I lay in so many different kinds of crises, her face said; she had tried to help me in so many ways. Cupping and moxibustion; lancing and needling; something experimental called battlefield acupuncture, which involved her piercing my auricular cartilage with needles that stayed there for a week. Had I forgotten the months I felt hunted—by thoughts of death and risk, illness and drowning, accident and suicide, and by a particular secret of my childhood, which I had confessed to her as though I had just learned it? Chris, whose belief in qi had so often embarrassed me—there! she would shout, hearing what she claimed was my blood finding motive force—wanted me moving in the direction of life.
It was as if she understood that the door would magnetize that dark dimension of my thinking, the death drive that had made me alternately brave (or pathologically reckless) and clinically sad, and which I had always explained, perhaps a little too easily, with a constituent history: when I was young, before my brain had quite finished forming, my family died. I had struggled with how prominently, on the hierarchy of personal identifiers, this fact was meant to sit, even as I bitterly understood, and wished others would understand, its separative effect. The door, in its static defeat, was a palliative: proclaiming a past that would always be happening to those who had experienced it, as well as the sovereign right never to discuss it.
[...]
Kathleen Alcott: “It shatters me to understand how much of our behavior is just a rejoinder to an old question, like something shouted down the hall at some delay, the hall being all the time we hurried down, the shout being the noise we make once we think we’re safe.”

When i learned i would have to get an EMG (electromyography) my dad and aunt both told me i would hate it cause they stick needles in your muscle to see how to responds. I react poorly to IVs and blood draws, but i have two tattoos and get every vaccine i am allowed to. I wasn’t really sure what to expect because my dad said it was a weird test and he hated it. And i thought, well i’ve had plenty of weird medical tests, i mean barium x-rays and colonoscopies both force you to drink copious amounts of terrible liquid — but nothing. Nothing is as weird as an echocardiogram where they are looking to see if you have a hole in your heart. You learn at some point in your life that air in the blood is bad for you and can kill you, and then one day you’re lying on a hospital bed with a doctor sitting on the bed next to you so she can manipulate the device they hooked your iv up to as she explains how they will be putting air in your blood to look for a hole in your heart. it’ll be safe, she says. It is safe. But you will feel that air the whole trip from the iv entry to your heart.
anyway. So i go to the hospital at eight in the morning and the nurse sticks goopy stickers on my foot and ankle and puts a device on my leg that shoots an electric current through my nerve to see how it responds. It responds! Rejoice. Then the doctor comes in and he tells me he will be putting a needle in three of my leg muscles and i explain about the needle issue and he tells me it is like an acupuncture needle — and i’ve had those once weirdly coincidentally hooked up to a minor electric pulse in physiotherapy years ago. So he sticks my leg and makes me flex my muscle and i learn you can hear your muscles working. Tap tap tap taptaptaptap. My muscles are fine, my nerves are fine. The forgetting my legs problem is not a problem with my legs.
The doctor did tell me when he asked if i had any other medical issues aside from stroke, that having chronic migraines increases your stroke risk. I was diagnosed with chronic migraines about eight years ago—no one has ever informed me of this. But he also has chronic migraines and also let me know i probably shouldn’t do hormones cause, again, increases stroke risk.
a lot of information for pre-nine am.

Does acupuncture work for back pain?
Tumblr media
Back pain is a common condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including muscle strain, ligament injury, disc herniation, and arthritis. While there are many conventional treatments for back pain, such as medication, physical therapy, and surgery, many people also seek alternative therapies like acupuncture.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese practice that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. It is based on the belief that disruptions in the flow of energy, or qi, can lead to pain and illness. By inserting needles into specific acupoints, acupuncturists aim to restore the balance of qi and promote healing.
How does acupuncture work for back pain?
The exact mechanism of acupuncture is not fully understood, but it is thought to work by stimulating the release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters that have pain-relieving effects. It may also modulate the activity of the central nervous system, which can influence pain processing and transmission.
Is acupuncture effective for back pain?
Numerous clinical studies have investigated the efficacy of acupuncture for back pain, with mixed but promising results. A 2018 meta-analysis of 39 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) found that acupuncture provided statistically significant pain relief compared to sham acupuncture or no treatment. The analysis also indicated that acupuncture was more effective than usual care interventions, such as medication or physical therapy.
Another RCT, published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2012, compared acupuncture, sham acupuncture, and conventional therapy (medication and exercise) for chronic low back pain. The results demonstrated that acupuncture provided superior pain relief and functional improvement compared to sham acupuncture and conventional therapy. Additionally, the benefits of acupuncture persisted even after the treatment was discontinued.
While these studies suggest that acupuncture may be effective for back pain, it is important to note that the placebo effect may play a role in its effectiveness. The use of sham acupuncture, which involves the insertion of needles into non-acupuncture points or using non-penetrating needles, helps to control for this effect. However, determining the true efficacy of acupuncture remains challenging due to the subjective nature of pain perception and the difficulties in conducting double-blind trials.
What are the potential benefits and considerations of acupuncture for back pain?
One of the advantages of acupuncture is its relatively low risk of adverse effects compared to pharmaceutical interventions or surgical procedures. Acupuncture is generally well-tolerated, with the most common side effects being minor bruising or bleeding at the needle insertion sites. It can be a suitable option for individuals who cannot tolerate or prefer to avoid medications.
Moreover, acupuncture treatments are often individualized, taking into account the unique characteristics and needs of each patient. Acupuncturists may assess factors such as the location, severity, and duration of the pain, as well as the patient’s overall health and constitution. This personalized approach can contribute to a more holistic and patient-centered treatment experience.
However, it is important to recognize that not all individuals may experience the same degree of pain relief from acupuncture. Factors such as the underlying cause of back pain, the chronicity of the condition, and individual variability can influence treatment outcomes. Additionally, the availability and quality of acupuncturists may vary, highlighting the importance of seeking trained and licensed practitioners.
If you are interested in learning more about how acupuncture can help you manage your back pain, please visit India's Trusted & Best Pain Management Clinic In Mumbai » Cure 4 Pain.
Conclusion
Acupuncture appears to be a promising treatment option for back pain, offering potential benefits with relatively low risks. Clinical evidence suggests that acupuncture can provide significant pain relief and functional improvement, although further research is needed to fully understand its mechanisms and optimize treatment protocols. As an alternative therapy, acupuncture should be considered as part of a comprehensive approach to managing back pain, in conjunction with conventional treatments, lifestyle modifications, and other interventions tailored to the individual’s needs.

Are you familiar with any stories regarding acupuncture having any bad or negative side effects? I ask bc i enjoy the way you breakdown holistic treatments and also i used to love acupuncture for my RA, but a few years ago i tried a newer provider and she had one needle in my knee that REALLY hurt, ive had it many times before i know some points can hurt more than others but this felt different. The rest of that day my knee was super painful and for weeks/months after i noticed anytime that part of my knee touched against fabric it had a weird tingling/burning/freezing feeling like my nerves were confused? Idk im a huge fan of acupuncture and want to continue getting it, but i cant find anything online about potential risks or how to navigate this.
It sounds like the person somehow irritated a nerve or maybe went too deep.
Typically speaking, the needles shouldn't be going in deep enough to hit a nerve or blood vessel, but it's not impossible. I sat in on a seminar back in the day that my friend was attending, and the entire thing was about the risk of pneumothorax (collapsed lung) after acupuncture on the chest. It was eye-opening to say the least.
The fact that you experienced significant pain and had lasting issues after the needle was removed, along with the burning/cold feeling, it sounds to me like a nerve got twinged.
If you want to continue getting the benefits of acupuncture, acupressure massage has been shown to work just as well for a lot of people with RA or other pain issues. It's also good for people with metal allergies who need to avoid the needles.
Hope that helps!

Mandana is still having back pain flares despite our best efforts. We do laser therapy, stretching, massage and are slowly conditioning her to exercise. She’ll look like she’s doing great but one day of slightly higher intensity and her symptoms immediately flare.
I took her back to the vet and they agreed she needed X-rays. Because she had already eaten they were willing to attempt to do it without sedation. They wouldn’t let me back, so I quickly taught the vet tech her commands for various potions and sent them on their way. Not only were they not able to do the X-rays but Mandana came back upset.
They said I could try to get her into position and then leave for the X-rays but tbh we should have led with that. Brave gurl was still willing to try for me. She got on the table and laid down but as soon as the techs moved towards her she would stand up and want to leave. I know she is capable of doing it but I shouldn’t have risked her having a bad experience.
She was not happy about being taken to the back for acupuncture injections after that experience and next week she’ll go in early for a sedation which will also stress her out. This is why I try so hard to make her apts enjoyable whenever possible. All it takes is one bad experience to ruin it.

Physical Therapy Clinic in New York City
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a group of rare genetic connective tissue disorders that affect the body's ability to produce collagen, a key protein that provides strength and elasticity to various tissues. People with EDS often experience a range of symptoms, including hypermobility of joints, skin that is easily bruised and hyper-elastic, and various complications related to weak connective tissues.
Pain management for individuals with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome can be complex and require a multidisciplinary approach involving medical professionals such as rheumatologists, geneticists, pain specialists, physical therapists, and more. Here are some strategies that might be considered:
Medications: Depending on the type and severity of pain, various medications might be prescribed. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can help manage joint and muscle pain. For more severe pain, opioid medications might be considered, though their use should be carefully monitored due to the risk of addiction.
Physical Therapy: Physical therapy can be extremely beneficial for individuals with EDS. A physical therapist can provide exercises to improve joint stability, strengthen muscles, and enhance overall body mechanics. Aquatic therapy might be particularly useful due to the buoyancy of water reducing stress on joints.
Bracing and Assistive Devices: Depending on the specific type of EDS and its impact on joints, bracing or assistive devices might be recommended to provide support and reduce strain on joints.
Pain Management Techniques: Techniques such as heat or cold therapy, massage, and acupuncture might provide some relief for certain individuals.
Lifestyle Modifications: Adopting a healthy lifestyle can help manage pain. Maintaining a healthy weight can reduce stress on joints, and staying active within the limits of what your body can handle can also be beneficial.
Counseling and Psychological Support: Chronic pain can have a significant psychological impact. Counseling, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques can help individuals cope with the emotional aspects of managing pain.
Nutrition and Supplements: A balanced diet rich in nutrients that support collagen production, such as vitamin C, might be helpful. Consultation with a medical professional or registered dietitian is recommended before making significant dietary changes or starting supplements.
Pain Management Specialists: Depending on the severity of pain, a pain management specialist might be consulted. They can provide more advanced interventions like nerve blocks, epidural injections, or other specialized treatments.
Genetic Counseling: Since EDS is a genetic disorder, individuals and families might benefit from genetic counseling to better understand the condition, its inheritance pattern, and potential implications for family planning.
It's important to note that each individual's experience with EDS and their pain management needs can vary widely. A personalized approach that takes into account the specific type of EDS, its symptoms, and the person's overall health is crucial. Always consult with qualified medical professionals who are experienced in dealing with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome for proper guidance and treatment.

The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes are a group of genetic connective tissue disorders that are currently classified into a system of thirteen types. Despite this grouping and their common name, each type is a distinct condition caused by a different gene mutation. This means that a child cannot inherit a different type of EDS from the one their parent has. It also means that one type cannot later turn into another, and there is no increased risk of having another type just because you have one – they are simply not connected. It is also extremely unlikely that one person would have more than one type, given the rarity of most of these illnesses.
Recently some of the criteria used to diagnose the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and some of the terminology describing them changed, in order to reflect scientific research from the past twenty years. The 2017 EDS International Classification recognizes thirteen types of EDS and defines for the first time some related conditions, hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) which have similar symptoms to hypermobile EDS (hEDS). The term joint hypermobility syndrome (JHS) is no longer used.
The most common type of EDS is thought to be the hypermobile type (formerly known as the hypermobility type or type 3) although the exact prevalence of this condition is not currently known. The medical literature states that it affects 1 in 5,000 people however this statistic is based on research that is out-of-date and hEDS/HSD frequently go undiagnosed or are misdiagnosed as other conditions. HSD and possibly hEDS are likely to be common. The classical and vascular types are rare, with other types being rarer still. It is probable that all the types are underdiagnosed to some degree.

Me reading Gay Lizard Acupuncture™
Me: ...now make them kiss
I WANTED TO. I FUCKING WANTED TOOOOOO- /playful
No but really, not yet. Someday. Someday soon. Soon. I swear.
But Seek, literally a few months prior grabbed Figure with a massive hand and screamed at it. The city being both simultaneously scorching hot and frostbite cold. The sky was RED. The big ass eye on the skyscraper was scary as shit.
Some eyes glaring with fury, some darting frantically, some staring straight into Figure’s soul..some wept..
“WHY DID YOU LEAVE US!?! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME!?! YOU COULD’VE TALKED TO US!!! I LOVED YOU FIGURE! I LOVED YOU! I STILL LOVE YOU! YOU ABANDONED ME!”
And Figure could see it.
An unfortunate side effect of Seek’s energy that even Seek, in its all power did not intend. It literally Z O M P E D the image of itself into Figure’s mind.
It quickly descends into incoherent screaming and wailing for a few seconds until Screech screams for it to stop. Figure just cries. That’s all it can do. Cry and vomit.
They don’t see each other for months after that incident and the next time Seek touches/sees it, it’s with Figure’s consent and under Screech’s supervision.
Also Screech was really mad at it for doing that even if it was in a terrible state. But it did also recognize that it’s parent had to raise two children alone thinking its love was dead.
(I also will clarify, this is ten years of Sorrow that burst out in a horrible way.
While Seek didn’t intend to hurt Figure and Figure was alright + was apologized to in the end. What Seek did was WRONG and could’ve hurt Figure very badly!!! Don’t do this to your partner ever!!!)
This takes place like 9+ months after that incident. Seek is still very much hesitant to do something that could risk harming it.

In you, still not knowing, spun in mere impressions. Effected more by blood than by beauty, more by distance than reflection, seeing still. What is what? Hope, in your preciousness content. Has your energy been usurped, if only for love or its promise shying? No wisdom to impart, is its depth instilled? A friend, ever-searching, and in your presence healed.
the gulf of spezia folded me under, made my skin into a sieve and needled my pores. not long ago i was bouncing through an electronics store and looked to the resistors, thinking aloud how they should be used for acupuncture or as a component in a type of electrical therapy that introduces a current to your cerebrospinal fluid. the impressions often come from above, everything else gives way courteously, almost cradling the fallen vessel. for a moment, your words were linked together, iron whorled to a feather anchor that miraculously saved me in a dream. the sky's unfolding sigh, light flipping over the book of a glade, you made it clear in a kind razor flash, undid the weight as my ankles dangled from the chevalet. more than my energy has been usurped, i keep searching for the chainlink gauze, an insulation that could fortify the chambers of what's been lost and make sense of its black mold crawling at the corners of this inwit, i am usually my own robertsman. a palace at the bottom of a blood lake, the nubile star at the center of a kwao krua tube bobbing at the surface, a train of open palms lacerating the sands that go to the end of the world. the idea that words are deceit, that the body is the truth at the bottom. a sister of the sentiment, "you don't understand music, you hear it. so hear me with your whole body." somehow i didn't get the jeff moore line, "why must you die for happiness like a flower in the snow" for a while, it passed by, rock parting, every time until the current finally crashed. i want these words to wrap around me and become my cartonnage. a carnation crossed with the ash from an herbal cigarette, crushed and scattered into a blizzard's deadly dance, a highway lady lost to a wilting velvet nightfilm, cast down with some judgment on the brink of flight. she was waiting to become the queen of the sun. i want my judgment day already but it's never coming because i want it. there's simply a lot of work waiting for me, as i try to temper the erasure that's been showing up in my somatic fray, tugged between naivist directness, the secret garden beyond service's gate, and the desperate calls that creation draws into a chorus, promising collective understanding as much as it risks misleading you from what's important in the world. if bread is the rawest image of hunger, then a child's smile is the potential for unthinkable loss. proverbially taking it a day at a time and trying to pick out myself in the establishment of form, a real routine. i am lucky to be given time with someone who gets at curing my heart with gentle sternness, sharing with me in daily labors and honesty. vein, path, whites outlining a future in coffee grounds. crinkled letters from an exile working to work, something to see in the dark spots of each fold. it's supposedly my jupiter return right now, down to the degree, running up to kiss chiron. maybe i will see god stop the sun and set my fortune cookie on fire. in little gidding, "the dove descending breaks the air, with flame of incandescent terror, of which the tongues declare, the one discharge from sin and error. the only hope or else despair, lies in the choice of pyre or pyre, to be redeemed from fire by fire." i am held up in your offering, a hand in bloom, an awareness worth every emotional grain of sand stirred from a lonesome, gummy sleep, where only dreams could pull back the flashes of reality testing the medium to be made. the nonsense whose smoking edge whistles when you lose control, to be flayed out of choice and eaten by flame. we must all be prepared to burn and hope our core stands among the rubble, chastening glory. who then devised the torment?
