Very sexy of the Durgetash fandom to have collectively lost our minds over the potential romantic reading of about four lines of dialogue and a handful of environmental storytelling elements in a game that has some of the most varied and interesting actual romance options of all time.
#it’s so silly#like Minthara will literally sit on a throne and give us that line#Astarion’s two paths are two classic fantasies#Gale and everything about his tragic path#actual Disney Prince Wyll#Lae’Zel battle wife#Karlach best girl sapphic legend#Shadowheart slow burn goth gf perfection#Halsin!!!#and yet#bg3

Imagine the Baldur’s Gate 3 crew at Disneyland….I feel like Karlach would have a blast. She’d demand to go on all the rides and get all the food. Shadowheart asks Lae’zel for a pair of mouse ears and she begrudgingly gives in. Wyll and Astarion get pictures with all the disney princes. And Gale is insisting that nothing about the park is actually magic while Karlach tells him to shut up. Meanwhile Halsin is being the dad friend holding everyone’s merch for them

Me trying to explain why Wyll and a drow lady just hits different.
1. Messed up matriarchal society that values power and violence. Men are a subservient class. Wyll is a classic "heroic prince" type character who simply would not fit in to that society. A drow would have little exposure to a person like him, let alone one that is held in high regard by his culture at large like Wyll is. Plus the “masculine hero” role that he fulfills would be on par with Wonder Woman showing up in our world to fight in World War 1. He doesn’t fit in to what their culture accepts and values, but he’d hold his head high and know his worth which would confound them.
2. Wyll's approach to romance. He wants to be prince charming. He wants to court his love interest traditionally and sweep them off their feet. A drow would not have much experience with a relationship like that. One where they don't need to worry about a knife to their back every other day. One where their lover wants to woo them, give them flowers, dance with them, get married? Treat them like they’re a princess (regardless of gender)? But not because he’s bound to serve them? But because he wants to take care of them? It’s like taking a “traditional” Disney romance and then spinning it on it’s head to make it a culture shock. And if you’re playing a drow that is slowly being de-conditioned and getting nicer through the game, it would be such a lovely story for them to go from seeing him as lesser because he’s a human man to actually wanting to be in this silly little romance he’s worked so hard on. Enjoying the romantic that he is, and getting to experience that kind of relationship for the first time. Going from Lae’zel levels of “this is nonsense” at his heroics, to blushing like a maiden during the dance scene with him.
3. The emphasis on motherhood and female power in drow society vs. the fact Wyll is a male leader raised by a single dad who is a very important political figure in Faerûn. The drow character finding it unnerving or being insensitive when they learn that Wyll never knew his mom. Flipside, their inherent ties to matriarchy making it hard for Wyll to deflect discussing his mom. He has to explore his feelings about her absence in his life because he can’t put his head in the sand and avoid the topic.
4. One of the worst fates in drow society is to displease Lolth and be transformed into a drider as punishment. Forever being marked for your transgressions and bringing shame to your house. Sound familiar? I think that Wyll’s experience would be a very familiar concept to many drow, and it would be an interesting aspect to the dynamic. Maybe it would make the drow re-examine their view on driders after realizing that Wyll was strong to hold true to his convictions. The fact he does not regret his decision regardless of the consequence might baffle them. Flipside, they could initially be disgusted by it because theyre so conditioned to think such a thing is a mark of shame. And they have to have that world view worked out of them slowly.
It’s late and I have more thoughts but I needed to get these down.

all right so, some more thoughts on act 2 of baldur's gate 3 now that i finally replaced my hard drive and have been able to play again! this is basically all about like the very end of act 2 because i enjoyed it but just didn't really write things down for most of it.
so first of all i actually kind of love ketheric thorm and the tragedy of his character. i love villains who are willing to destroy themselves and the world for the sake of their family 💖
however i wish that if you talked to him about his wife and passed the checks to try persuading him to repent you could actually change the outcome of things. like what if you could save him and recruit him.... i honestly really think my tav would've felt a bit of empathy toward his situation and wanted to save him if they could, and also personally i just find him more interesting than halsin or even jaheira asdkjfghsdf
i'm sure jaheira is a lot cooler to people who know her from previous baldur's gate games but having 2 druids feels a bit redundant when there are so many other classes and she and halsin both become recruitable a little too late imo, especially given that halsin kind of has nothing to do after he finally joins you. ketheric would be an even later addition but sorry i just think he's so cool and that making one of the villains redeemable + recruitable would've been neat!
ANYWAY i also love the fact that even though i was spoiled on a lot of random bits and pieces about the different companions' personal stories before i started, i was not really spoiled at all on the actual main plot of this game lol. it just makes it that much more exciting getting to see how it all unfolds.
i also wasn't spoiled on the details of wyll's pact and now that he's finally talked about it, i love his character even more!! he's literally like if a disney prince loved his home and its people so much that he sold his soul to save them. i wish we could've had a full flashback when he agreed to show us what happened like the ones we get when we see into shadowheart's past.
i also wish he got more appreciation from fans and had a more complete romance but we all know why he doesn't 😔
i think this is literally the first "stereotypical horny bard" dialogue i've come across omg 😭 didn't actually pick this because it would've been ooc for elenion to say but i will say i think it would've been really funny if there was like. romance-specific dialogue here because you have such insane first meetings with every companion. i'm just imagining elenion going "love at first sight? i suppose so, although for me it was more like love at first hand" and leaving isobel wondering wtf that's supposed to mean
all of this confusion and going back and forth about whether to trust the dream guardian... and they were a mind flayer the whole time!! tbh that actually does not make elenion automatically stop trusting them because we've met omeluum and he didn't seem bad, but what does kind of make them lose trust in the emperor is the whole "encouraging you to turn into a mind flayer" thing... yeah, not doing that.
actually though i found out a while ago that something was up with the dream guardian but like. i was expecting them to turn out to just be fully evil and wanting to try and manipulate us more directly after the reveal, not for them to be acting like a nice friendly heroic mind flayer, so that does come as a surprise!
i wish i had thought to take lae'zel with me to the astral plane in case she would've had anything to say about orpheus while we were there... but oh well, i didn't really have her on my team during act 2 and she wasn't relevant to basically any of its story so i missed her a lot and i am so proud of her now for how she told off vlaakith.
??? halsin just tried to confess his love to elenion and said he thinks they feel the same way and i mean... at least he was very kind and understanding when they rejected him but i am baffled because i haven't really had him in the party at all and. like. when he asked them to tell him a secret they even said they didn't feel like there was anything to tell because they didn't wanna open up to him too deeply (well, and also because for some reason the only other option is to say you're afraid of krakens), but now he thinks they're in love with him? 😭 i've heard that it used to be extremely easy to accidentally romance gale but i do not understand how this happened with halsin. oh well.
oh yeah also i got this dialogue from wyll and i wish there was an option to say that you're anxious about being back or something. because elenion has been sort of avoiding visiting home and only going back very infrequently for a very long time and he and wyll are close so i imagine that wyll knows why that is. but i ended up just picking the first option and imagining that wyll is too polite to question it.
anyway, i've stepped into rivington and am ready to start exploring it but i'm going to end this post here for now!

16 and 19 for the choose violence asks!
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc) This idea that Wyll is an innocent naive baby. Sorry he's not letting Smurf Cunt ruin his life and motivations, you joyless wretches. Leave my Disney Prince alone. Also: the idea that Nancy was a Beard, holding John back from expressing his True Self (Sprinkled with biphobia, a lot of the time.) Maybe, just maybe, it was a complex relationship that became ill-suited for both of them over time! We don't know!
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like... Oh man, I was super annoyed when @doomhamster proposed something we call the Most Cursed Pairing, comprising one Ulder Ravengard and our most beloathed character, that I dread to type because his fanbase is pretty much Snapewives 2, with a side of Gaylor, and Tumblr search may betray me. Because it is so logical! It makes so much sense! I would read it! But also I hate it, so much, you've no idea. It's the equivalent of...idk, shipping Jack O'Neil with Sam's ex Pete. Only Pete's less fun as a character.

someone posted a screenshot of a book from bg3 tht apparently said dragonborn dont rly have a concept of romantic love like other races and will enter marriages for diplomatic purposes only
idk how true that actually is (or if perhaps the author was biased) but it made me imagine a scenario where a very stern and serious dragonborn gets to feel emotions they didnt know they could experience when Wyll turns up his pride and prejudice disney prince romantic shit
#boblabla#clenching my fists#theres too many playthroughs i want to do#i love how#his way of courting tav is to do a little dance with them#like damn we rly in some jane austen shit now huh?#and i saw spoilers tht he proposes at the end of his romance??#this man would still love you even if you were a worm#lex plays bg3#bg3#baldurs gate 3#bg3 spoilers#in the tags but still

Really here for Miss Bounding Frog, but I wanted to thank you for becoming a Wyll BG3 appreciation blog. Because while I've no interest in playing the game myself, he's just so charming and lovely and always a joy to have on my dash
You: is today the day I blacklist the bg3 tag? Wyll: *smiles with his whole heart out of a gifset* You: .... naaah he can stay, he seems polite.
You made me realise he and Frog are fairly alike in that I try to go for girlprince in her glams a lot of the time and he's just pure disney prince (but a devil).
(spoilers for BG3 musing on their similarities)
Also I guess their personalities are pretty similar in that they remain genuinely well-meaning heroes after going through it all. Like, the vacation before Dawntrail has been fun but Frog would still absolutely throw herself back into the fire when the self-sacrificing bullshit returns. She slept Endwalker off in a week and then was confused about why the scions were treating her with kid gloves. "Look, I'm upright again! What next??" "Have you tried this adventure called 'retiring to the beach'?"
I know a looot of people have rightfully tired or grumpy WoLs who are completely done with being asked to do things and people Assuming you will be the hero, or being in the crosshairs of the universe, but I did want to write a WoL who was genuinely hype to be here and would take it on the chin with old school heroic stoicism. However gutting everything is she's like, well, we hear-feel-think this trauma and on the other side we understand and respect what it did to us and move on stronger. And then forgive everyone who caused it. (she's very annoying)
Mr Of Frontiers over there had his tragic backstory at 17, a year younger than when Frog started adventuring (intentionally with no tragic backstory, I wanted her to be in it for love of the game) and I'm hypocritically declaring she was more than old enough because I say so and Wyll was a KID just a LITTLE GUY... but also Alphinaud doesn't exist in BG3 thankfully so there's no need to debate when kids should be allowed to be in charge of armies - although I think Alphinaud and Wyll should have a catch up and maybe learn some things about how they were doomed by the narrative together...
Anyway Wyll's various endings aside from the one where you set him up to be a Duke in the city (which I did on my Astarion play since Astarion is marrying him, craves creature comforts, and was presented with not even a persuasion check to decide Wyll's entire future, which is shockingly cruel of the game) he will just go back to adventuring and saving people. Like, a guy who can legitimately retire off the back of everything that just happened and return forgiven or at least as a hero if you did get his dad murdered to not be around to forgive him, and he's like... Actually, the People Need Me, I'm going to go write the next chapter of my life as an itinerant hero killing monsters and swashbuckling all day.
Also, aside from him definitely having whatever's wrong in his brain that Frog has (and Meteor Finalfantasy who is ready to Dawntrail also and is swashbuckling), he does also have the WoLbrain when it comes to Just Saying Messed Up Things. He's so funny and sarcastic and would absolutely fit in with WoLs who pick all the weird dialogue options. WoL can make moogle noises at Thancred? Well, Wyll over here will meow at you.
He also genuinely thinks clowns are funny, and every year the WoL earnestly goes along with a demon clown halloween event so there's that.
#asks#bounding frog#ffxiv#bg3#wyll ravengard#tags formatted in handshake meme#I do think I should get around to the conclusion of Frog's search for her reaper avatar#she can never tell Wyll about how her pact with a devil from another plane resolved#anyway I have a type which makes me rather predictable... I saw Wyll's intro and was like 'fine I guess he's my fave now'#and he never proved me wrong :)

I sometimes just pause and cannot get over the canon relationships and the potential pairings that the player can instigate in BG3. They’re the kind of thing we were crying out for in decades of content and now it’s just there!
You’re giving us horny moon lesbians!
Gay gnomes!
A wizard we can redeem!
A full on queer vampire with the best video game writing ever!
Four of the most beautiful women of all time in a video game who are canonically queer!
A big ol thick elf!
Actual Disney Prince Wyll Ravengard!
And then you can romance loads of them with each other! I can have the disney prince kiss the huge ADHD barbarian? I can live out my toxic sapphic desires with the alien and the cultist?

I have no issue with Wyll as a character at all, I really like having him around, but man, mechanically? he has a way of bugging me sometimes.
One thing is that he's kinda bugged? So he's been yelling an exclamation point at me for like two in-game days now, and after thinking about it, I figured it's likely because there's more than one opportunity to find out about his dad's location. There was a letter I found (then read, then sold accidentally) about this during the Mountain Pass encounter (and he wasn't in the party so nothing triggered right then), but since I ALREADY KNEW THAT and triggered the dialogue previously, it got stuck. So now he just really wants to tell me about his dad again, but when I ask, he has nothing new to say, and the marker stays. All the time. I doubt it'll go away until we actually find the guy.
And the other is that this boy is not proficient in ANYTHING USEFUL TO ME. He's been wearing Minthara's spidersilk armor and using a shitty common sword with a basic shield since fairly early in the goblin camp, because despite us having just so much cool shit that I can't even really sell it (literally vendors don't have enough gold), he just... can't seem to be able to use anything I'm not already using on a companion I take with me more frequently.
Swords? Nyope, not proficient in martial weapons.
Okay, what about this cool rapier that Astarion is done using? I said nyoooooo! It's heavyyyyyyy! I don't like iiiiiit!
This enchanted armor? Nyope, light armor only pleeeeeeeeease! Otherwise I can't cast my silly little spells!
Not even this dope helmet that looks really sick on you? Nyoooooo, it's heavyyyyyyy, it hurts my widdle hooooooorns.
What a frustrating, Disney prince-ass mf. LET ME KEEP YOU FROM DYING, YA BUTT.
(and ofc his approval bar is also bugged, I've not seen it once, so that's great too.)
#squirrel plays bg3#one funny thing is tho that since I'm raiding the shit out of the gith#I run out of carryweight pretty frequently#so instead of doing the smart thing and letting the others carry stuff#I just carry progressively less food#and take off unnecessary items#like my underwear#and my torch#i mean I HAVE darkvision#if Gale can't see that's like. literally not my problem#sorry about complaining but UGH

finally finally doing the wyll romance and. idk man. i still love the guy but. i miss early-access wyll so much dude. he was my fave from the moment i met him. and no other character was reworked so entirely between EA and the full release. EA wyll had a personal revenge arc going on, and you couldn’t quite trust what his actual moral compass was underneath the persona of the blade of frontiers. The blade was very much a character he was playing. But in the full release that’s just. who he is. He IS the hero, he IS the disney prince. I’d have liked to see where they would have taken his original story.
#i wish they’d like. release their outline for his original story.#just like. hey this is what we’d originally planned. this is what we would have done post-act 1.#if i had to guess#i’d say it was going to be a sort of… living up to family expectations storyline.#his dad was a grand duke and he was supposed to inherit that but maybe didn’t want to or didn’t feel able to#or maybe ulder MADE him feel like he wasn’t able to#so in his desperation to try to prove himself as capable on his own terms (not just as someone born into nobility)#he became the blade of frontiers. and made his pact with Mizora. ironically tying his success to someone else’s power AGAIN.#so i’d IMAGINE that his arc would be like. about the real wyll learning to step out from behind the blade of frontiers.#to become his own person

Im too tired from work to actually work on writing any semi-coherent story so here are some random bg3 headcanons/thoughts/etc. (some not so safe for work because I'm a pervert be warned)
Gale:
Fastidious groomer. Likes to be clean and tidy. Wears cologne, presses his clothes, the whole nine yards.
He's not handling being stranded well. Outwardly? Sure, he's great. Inside? This fucking close, man. 👌
I actually think he's way closer to the edge than people think and it's part of the reason he's quick to deal with Raphael when left in the lurch.
Also, why he's willing to humor (not happily, mind you) an evil Tav. Guy is desperate.
Seriously. First, Mystra. Then the orb. Then his magic. Now he's infested with brain worms, stranded with a bunch of weirdos (one of which is literally a vampire spawn), wrapped in a cult plot, etc. It just keeps getting worse.
It's a lot for a guy who sounds like he had a pretty charmed life up to his big mistake. A super talented Chosen One who had parents who had servants etc. (A few assumptions being made based on his dialogue of course)
Definitely into (and very good at) dirty talk. I bet this guy would be great with a praise kink.
"I like what I see." Yup. That got me. I'm that easy.
I bet he likes a dominate partner. There was no way Mystra was in any way submissive.
Also, a big fan of oral? Just going to throw that out there because why not
Lae'zel
Lae'zel is annoyed by Gale just wanting to talk... at first. I can see her being aggravated at first, then curious, then "dammit why not?" and pursuing him relentlessly.
In fact, playing hard to get seems like a fun angle with her. She has some insecurity I think and the horrible person in me thinks that's adorable.
No negging tho. 1. That's gross but also 2. She'll just beat your ass.
Speaking of which, combat gets her going. Seeing the MC in combat and just killing it? Hot. The MC beating her 1v1? Possibly even hotter.
I totally see her and Tavarti having sparing matches that end with a very horny Lae'zel and a very confused/uncomfortable Tavarti.
She says Wyll is bad at sex but I think its her. Look at those nails.
Wyll
This adorable Disney Prince wannabe.
Cannot spell for shit.
He's probably the most comforting of the companions. Best hugs.
The entire group (Tavarti included) makes fun of him for the "sulphur and orchids" comment.
Did you really fuck a woman who smelled like rotten eggs? And you miss it???
Part of the reason he doesn't judge for hooking up with a vampire spawn. He gets it.
Seriously. He goes after Lae'zel pretty quick. Dude only likes people who are just bad for/to him.
*enter Astarion*
Astarion probably drags his ass for Lae'zel's 1 star review too.
He's actually not very experienced sexually and is pretty willing to beat around the bush and avoid intimacy to hide that fact.
I get the feeling that he embellishes a lot and would not put it past him to simply act the part of stud.
"Hot blooded virgins" indeed
He's definitely a love making kinda guy
Probably didn't help his performance review with Lae'zel.
Mizora seems like a bit of a brat, so brat tamer Wyll sounds like a fun idea.
Brat Astarion and Tamer Wyll ❤
A bard team member and him will team up to make sure the Tadpole Gang has a kickass song and names for everyone.
#these 3 don't seem to get enough love so i wanted to share#bg3#baldurs gate 3#gale of waterdeep#lae'zel#wyll#headcanons#bg3 hc#oc: sunflower knight tries their best

this time in my baldur's gate 3 playthrough, i finish wyll's personal quest and have a lot of thoughts about him! which mainly boil down to: larian did him very dirty, and i'm sad about it because i wanted to be able to love his story more. i try to be concious of the way that fandom as a whole is very biased against black characters, and as a lover of fairytales and disney movies i think the fact that wyll is just genuinely good and kind the whole time and is basically like if a disney prince became a warlock is cool! i think that's an awesome concept and larian could've done so much more with him, because i don't believe that characters need to be edgy and morally gray to be interesting and complex! but i feel like the writers themselves were biased against wyll because his story is so lacking in polish and so underwhelming adkjsfghf. i'll just have to choose to seek out fanworks that expand on the potential he had. anyway. rest of my thoughts are below the cut as usual.
the iron throne mission was very nervewracking lol but in a fun way!! it took me multiple tries to get my strategy figured out, and i ended up bringing several elemental summons to help do the fighting and misty step/dimension door scrolls to help everyone get around. thank god omeluum had a spell that could teleport gale out of there, because i was worried he wasn't going to make it and i'd have to try again when i was so close to finally saving all the prisoners. and i did save them all, though again it was a close call with some of them! i just wish i would've been also able to read the notes and such that i saw around.
got jumpscared by the waveservants coming to attack us for siding with redhammer, and then uhhh, redhammer died during the battle and now i feel bad :( i mean, i tried to keep him alive but he did not exactly make it easier by running directly toward the enemies and trying to fight them!
oh well. i'll have to try harder to keep him safe on another playthrough. i think it's a huge shame that you only get that sexy robe if you side with the waveservants though... i need to mod it into my game later. for science.
DAMN DOES ULDER REALLY HAVE TO BE SO MEAN TO WYLL... i mean, okay, i guess i can understand that he didn't have any idea what really happened between wyll and mizora, but i wish he could've had a bit more faith in his son instead of calling him a monster. ugh i just feel so bad for wyll, but i really am glad they finally got a chance to patch things up.
next, i went to the steel watch foundry and had gale take the lead in sneaking our way through the gates with magic... except we got caught by the steel watcher and wyll--who for some reason became the controlled character there even though i definitely had gale selected to cast fog cloud and knock?--lied to it and convinced it that it let us in. after that i got extremely annoyed by the combat lol. the fight on the main floor was really easy, but the one in the basement? i hope you didn't need to save all the gondians, because i tried so many times and ended up just giving up... in the end, only two of them (aside from zanner toobin) had the brain cells to stay up above instead of suicidally misty stepping into the face of every enemy, so those were the only two who survived. why does the AI keep being like this lmao??
there are a lot of hints about what the iron throne even is and how to get there scattered around the foundry, so i'm guessing the story does expect you to come here first! it's fun to explore this area and try to find all the lore tidbits they've scattered around. the steel watchers being controlled by tadpole-infected brains was a total surprise to me and so was being able to actually try and control them yourself. i tried to save the innocent people the watchers were attacking, but my poor low WIS tav just couldn't do it :( i also found... bernard's head?? for some reason, it says "extract", but when i click on that it doesn't do anything. that's really interesting, though--i wish we were able to learn more about lenore.
wulbren is literally such a jackass and does not deserve barcus. i want to yeet him into the ocean. i'm so proud of barcus for standing up for himself, taking over as lead of the ironhands, and telling wulbren to fuck off!!
OH YEAH I FINALLY REMEMBERED to look up a video of the glitched convo about gale's last name. being able to tell him you like gale dekarios better than gale of waterdeep, and the way he responds to that, is soooo rapunzel and eugene coded i'm 🥺🥺🥺 i want to see people make tangled AUs with gale and their tavs now.
i think elenion is reeeeeally skeptical of this whole "staking the future of baldur's gate on a legendary tale" thing and does not believe ansur actually exists, but i suppose he'll seen crazier shit by now so he'll just go with it!
the trials were fun to figure out, and i liked that wyll and gale both had comments on some of them!! wyll offers his help with the trial of justice and comments that he has little experience with lanceboard, and gale gets all excited when you walk up to the lanceboard trial ajksdghdfkjgss he's so cute. he also literally just tells you exactly what to do on that one. thank you gale i love you 💜💜
I GENUINELY WAS NOT WHAT HAPPENED WITH ANSUR THOUGH WHAT!!! i was expecting wyll to get to befriend a dragon and have him as a helper in the final battle but i've gotta admit that was an interesting twist and a fun battle. i'm unsurprised that the emperor is balduran, though, mostly because i've already seen people talk about it, but also they kind of... pretty much say it in the song of balduran?? or at least they heavily hint at it, by including the line "transformed, he fell their thrall". what i am surprised at is ansur x balduran toxic yaoi lmao whaaaat 😭 there's a letter on ansur's body that says "even if i'm not beside you, i will always have been your balduran"... can't believe i'm sad about them now.
augh, the choice of whether or not to encourage wyll to become the grand duke made me feel so torn tbh because like... first of all, i already knew about the blade of avernus ending, and that it's (from what i've heard at least) positioned as his good ending while becoming the duke is positioned as his bad ending akin to everyone else's ascensions, and i know karlach will die if wyll doesn't go to avernus with her. but my character doesn't know any of that! and i genuinely think joining his father to help rebuild the city rather than running around as a vigilante in the hells sounds like a good ending for wyll, as a way for him to do a lot of overall good for others and resolve his issues with his dad by working alongside him? i also think it's what elenion would tell him to do, if only the dialogue options for it weren't all like "think of the power you'll yield!" because they would not fucking say that unless they meant "the power you'll be able to yield to help the people of baldur's gate". man. idk. at least this time, unlike when it came to what to do with his pact, there's an option to trust wyll to make his own choice. so... i chose that. he chose on his own to become the blade of avernus. guess that's that, then.
i'm also just. really underwhelmed by wyll's personal quest in general though ugh 😭 listen i have had wyll in my party for the entire fucking game. his introduction was just so cool that i was instantly drawn to him and never let him leave my party and in my head i roleplayed him and elenion becoming best friends. i love him but his story is just really missing something... the conclusions to shadowheart and astarion's personal quests were so cathartic and made me really emotional but wyll's just Didn't. and i feel like they could've and should've done so much more with it, i mean, he's the son of the grand duke of baldur's gate!!! the game i am playing is called baldur's gate 3!!! i also think it's really weird that he's so torn up about ansur, but not about fucking balduran?? wyll, did you not notice that your hero is the evil mindflayer that lied to all of us and has been causing us trouble for the entire game?? hello?? it just felt like this entire final part of his quest was more about developing the emperor's character than about him. sigh.
i think the ansur stuff could've felt a bit more like it was about wyll if, like, he could ask to be the one to do the trials like how shadowheart can ask you to let her offer her blood at the gauntlet of shar and you get approval from letting her, because then the trials of ansur get to be about him proving his own worthiness as a hero and leader... and if maybe he was automatically selected for the conversation with ansur instead of letting your character do that, and if he had significantly more dialogue and reactivity to all of it.
anyway. going to end this post here, and then it's time to go fuck up gortash and head into the final battle and the epilogue!
#star plays bg3#tumblr having a fucking character limit now makes me so mad#because i hit it on this post and i don't want to cut anything but i did want to add something:#the dialogue choices for encouraging wyll to become a duke both being like 'oh you could have so much POWER!!' makes it seem as if#they wanted there to be some sort of moral ambiguity where wyll starts becoming power hungry and where you'd fear that politics#would likely only corrupt him. but the story just. literally never does that?? wyll is never like that?? and SOMEONE has to run the city...#also i heard that a romanced grand duke wyll can adopt a daughter. so like. idk doesn't sound like a bad ending to me 😭#creme don't look
