I've finally got around to jump in on the Abbey Road cover parody, but this time, featuring Stickybutter and friends recreating the walking pose found from the Beatles. Good thing I managed to finish it for a few hours!
Speaking of, wonder if Come Together is still on YouTube?

The Beaturtles - Crabbey Road
Tumblr media
Lately, squid kids and grownups alike have started to appreciate a band that flourished back in the old days! I’m sure plenty of folk consider them one of the greatest classic rock bands…
Anyways, happy 54th Anniversary to Abbey Road by The Beatles. I thought it would be fun to turn them into a splatband!
Do you like fish puns? I put my entire brain into naming and deciding what creature they should be…

The "Abbey Road" album cover by The Beatles is one of the most iconic images in the history of music. Released on September 26, 1969, this cover features the four band members—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr—walking across a zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios in London. The photo was taken on August 8, 1969, by photographer Iain Macmillan, who had only ten minutes to capture the shot while a policeman held up traffic.
The cover is simple yet powerful, capturing the Beatles in mid-stride across the crosswalk. John Lennon leads the group, dressed in white, followed by Ringo Starr in a black suit, Paul McCartney barefoot and holding a cigarette, and George Harrison in denim. The image became a symbol of the band and is instantly recognizable worldwide.
Several elements of the cover have fueled speculation and urban legends over the years, most notably the "Paul is dead" conspiracy theory. Fans noted that Paul was barefoot and out of step with the other members, interpreting it as a subtle hint that he had died and been replaced by a look-alike. Additionally, the Volkswagen Beetle parked on the left side of the street, with its license plate reading "LMW 28IF," was thought to imply that Paul would have been 28 years old if he had lived (though he was actually 27 at the time).
Despite these rumors, the cover's real charm lies in its simplicity and spontaneity. It reflects the Beatles' approach during the latter part of their career, moving away from elaborate studio techniques and back towards a more straightforward, live-band feel. The "Abbey Road" cover has been imitated and parodied countless times, becoming a cultural touchstone far beyond its original context.
"Abbey Road" itself was the last album the Beatles recorded together, although "Let It Be" was released later. The music within includes some of their most beloved tracks, like "Come Together," "Something," and the medley on side two. The cover perfectly encapsulates the end of an era for the band, capturing a fleeting moment that has since become timeless.

figured i'd post this goofy drawing now that the recipient has seen it. fanart for @rufusrant's IMPECCABLE beatles my immortal parody fanfic "My Georgemortal" on ao3. it's one of my favorite fics of all time, it's so funny and full of absurd obscure beatles/rock references, i'm completely obsessed and would 100% recommend!!!
"Hi my name is George Harrison and I have long dark brown hair like the King of England (that’s how I got my name) with purple streaks and red tips that looks like a duck's arse and chocolate brown eyes like tree bark and a lot of people tell me I look like Dhani Harrison (AN: if u don’t know who he is get da hell out of here!). I’m not related to Roy Orbison but I wish I was because he’s a major fucking hottie. I’m a vampire but my fangs are straight and white. I have pale white skin. I’m also a rocker, and I go to a recording studio called Abbey Road in England where I’m a Beatle (I’m twenty-one). I’m a teddy boy (in case you couldn’t tell) and I wear mostly black. I love Savile Row and I buy all my clothes from there. For example today I was wearing a black shirt with extra grease and hair gel smattered down it and a black leather jacket, black drainies and black combat boots with fire on them. I was NOT wearing black lipstick, white foundation, black eyeliner and red eye shadow because I am too beautiful for that. I was walking outside Abbey Road. It was snowing and raining so there was no sun, which I was not very Hare Krishna about. A lot of mods stared at me. I put up my middle finger at them." PLEASE IT'S SO GOOD GO READ IT NOW!!!!

The Goons - Unchained Melody
scuzzy983
One of the fourteen singles released by Peter Sellers, Harry Secombe and Spike Milligan a.k.a. 'The Goons'. From June 1955.
The success of The Goon Show inevitably led to approaches for The Goons to make commercial records, and in June 1955, Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers entered EMIs Abbey Road recording studios to make the first Goons single.
The session featured a hilarious deconstruction of the ballad "Unchained Melody" as sung by Bluebottle and Eccles and a duet by Minnie Bannister and Henry Crun, "Dance with Me Henry". Despite the success of the session, both recordings remained unreleased for many years due to the publishers of the original "Unchained Melody" taking exception to the flippant treatment of the song in this parody. Unreleased for thirty five years, both recordings were finally released by EMI as a single in 1990.

Thanks for sending me the ask about music - I love it and could talk about it all day aha. What are some of your favourite artists and albums? 😊
It’s my pleasure, love! Thank you for asking<3
I must say i am very very basic:
The Beatles - Abbey Road. Yeah, yeah, The Beatles are overhyped and problematic. Their song still are bangers. And John had the best singing voice and skills at his time.
ABBA - Super Trouper. You have no idea, how obsessed i am with ABBA. No, i mean really. I love all their songs and when they released their latest album i was listening to it on YouTube live. like i ran home from university in order to not miss it.
The Fall - Hex Enduction Hour. I’m currently reading the book “Flash. The history of rave music”, and it’s pretty useless to read a book about music without listening to said music. So i’m enlarging my musical horizons with new artists. I can’t say i adore rave music, but i love the ideas it represents and the innovations. They were pioneers of the genre, let’s show some respect.
Public Image Ltd. - you have to listen to it. It’s impossible to describe their music in words. They are geniuses in their domain. I highly recommend the song “Albatross”, you wont regret, i promise.
Taylor Swift - 1989. Have i told you i’m basic? well, you have been warned. yes, it’s my favorite album. as the meme says “the music speaks for itself” and if you don’t remember how popular these songs were you must be 8 years old.
Josh Groban - literally any of his songs. Listen to “Bring him home” if you want to cry. I always cry.
Lizz Robinette - her covers are art. Listen to “Unravel” if you want to understand what a mental illness feels like.
Jon Cozart - the guy is funny AND talented. he graced Youtube with his quality content and parodies. I definitely recommend him!
