You know, watching the anime made me realize something, so I went looking.
We (manga readers, anime-onlies beware spoilers later on) already know Senshi’s tragic backstory and that the reason why he stays in the dungeon is to take care of it.
Early on in the manga, Senshi behaved with a complete disregard to Chilchuck’s orders to keep them safe. It’s possible Senshi behaved this way because he didn’t respect Chilchuck’s skills, or he thought that none of the traps would be able to harm him (due to being a dwarf). When he offered up his life to the orcs (before his vegetables, even), maybe he was simply trusting that Zon wasn’t actually going to kill them (despite them brutally murdering an entire pub in front of their eyes). But what if he simply…doesn’t care whether he lives or dies?
Senshi shows no interest in returning to society, preferring to keep to himself. He lives only for tending to the dungeon and cooking his next meal. He behaves recklessly with his own safety, and he hasn’t moved on from the trauma he experienced almost eighty years prior. He also believes that resurrection is unnatural, and accepts his own death with relative ease.
I think his survivor’s guilt left him passively suicidal, just waiting for his inevitable death to come to him, and holds fiercely onto Gillin’s final wishes that Senshi lives on as a reason to not seek it out.

Potato Soup & Other Delicacies
First BG3 fic, let's gooo! \o/ ~1k, Tala and Gale talking about food, bc what better way to make friends? ---
"Turmeric? Really?!"
Tala laughed at the disbelieving tone. "That's what I said! But Lila was so insistent" --a small huff as she settled the lean-to frame together-- "I gave it a try, and damned if it wasn't delicious, even as the last thing you'd expect-"
"In a dessert," Gale finished with her, skepticism still plain on his face. He fussed with his own tent a moment longer. "I will admit, the thought wouldn't have occurred to me."
"Something about the way it interacts with the other flavors," she said, lashing the lean-to securely. The weather was pleasant; this would serve for tonight. "The earthiness enhances them, I suppose."
"No, I know how turmeric works," he said, settling his pack in his tent and kneeling to dig through the communal supplies for dinner ingredients. "I'd think it would be overpowering to everything else in a dish as small as a pie."
"I'm not saying chuck in a handful of it, Gale," Tala chuckled. She dipped her head toward the foodstuff he was gathering in silent inquiry if he wanted help, moved to do so when he nodded. "It's a tiny little pinch added to the filling before you even mix in the fruit."
"Next time I've the opportunity to make that particular pie, I'll give it a chance. Always good to be a bit adventurous, ey?"
"Almost always, at least." She glanced over at Wyll and Bottlen, still nursing some bruises from testing that adage earlier, then down at the growing pile of tubers between them. "What are we making for dinner?"
"Potato soup." Gale passed her a knife. "We have an abundance of the hearty fellows, and some are not much longer for the world. So rather than them go to waste, we have soup. Despite lacking some of the herbs I prefer to include, it will still be a filling--hopefully delicious--meal."
"I'm sure, all your cooking's been delicious so far." Tala hefted one of the larger potatoes, though in her hand it looked rather average. "Skin off or on after we wash them?"
"On, of course." He plunged several of the potatoes into the bucket of water someone had left while they were preoccupied discussing desserts. "Adds flavor."
"Oh, I'm of the same mind," she grinned following suit with the rest of the potatoes. "But I know some who peel them so it looks nicer, or they don't care for the texture. I didn't want to get halfway through cutting one up and find it should've been peeled first."
"A valid concern with all the cooking methods out there. Smart to check." Gale piled the clean potatoes on the rock between them. "D'you mind terribly if I work on the base while you cut these?" He swiveled one hand in a gesture at their companions. "We've a lot of mouths to feed, and some are less... patient about it than others."
Tala snickered. Is this where I make a joke about Halsin being a bear when he's hungry? "Not at all. Potato dicing happens to be my specialty."
That startled a laugh from Gale as he rummaged for other ingredients. "Do tell."
"Fastest and best at the orphanage," she said. She dragged over a smaller stewpot and set to work as she talked. "We took turn with the chores; rotating assignments by dormitories. Kitchen duty was always my favorite." Even if it had occasionally meant being pelted with eggshells or potato peels alongside muttered comments about her heritage. "The cook saw me watching him prep dinner and asked if I'd like to help so I could learn. No one else liked all the chopping so they let me have it whenever it was our turn there."
"And a chef was born?" Gale asked dryly, starting the base ingredients at a simmer.
"Hardly," Tala snorted. The potatoes were half-done, pile dwindling under her skilled hands even while she spoke. "I was in my teens before the cook took me as a more permanent helper, seeing as I enjoyed it so much, and even then... cooking for an orphanage and temple is usually simple fare that's easy to make in bulk. Potato soup, venison stew, roast boar on occasion. My travels haven't afforded much chance to learn fancier or more specialized dishes."
It was only sort-of untrue; the couple times she'd tried to get work at a tavern, they'd wanted her as muscle, not cook. She hadn't wanted to mire herself down for that.
Gale was watching her like he heard the part she hadn't explained. (Thanks to the tadpoles, maybe he had. She kept forgetting about the squirmy little buggers.) "Well, lucky for you," he began, giving the soup base a stir as the simmering picked up, "I happen to have a vast repertoire of recipes, and I'm more than happy to impart my wisdom to a willing mind."
"That part I knew," she teased. With the potatoes all cut, she hefted the stewpot. "And I would love to learn any you care to pass along." A pause. "Soon as we have a better selection of ingredients."
"Oh, pish." He stepped back to let her add the potatoes to the main pot. "There's at least four things I can show you with what we have."
"Alright, now I'm intrigued." She set the pot down and wiped her hand on her trousers. "Considering we didn't even have everything for the soup tonight."
"Adding a couple more herbs if I had my druthers is not to say our stocks are severely lacking," He waved away her droll words with a smile. "I'll show you tomorrow. Do you enjoy roast duck?"
"Who doesn't?" Tala rejoined, propping her chin on her palm to watch him with her job done.
"I knew there was a reason I got along with you." Gale's smile widened. "I'll show you how to prepare one that puts Audrine's to shame."
"Never eaten there, so I'll take your word both that it's an impressive feat and that you can do it."
"No?" He cocked his head. "But I thought you said you passed through..."
"Like most... upper-crust establishments, they weren't overly enthused about serving someone like me," she said with a shrug and sardonic--tusky--grin. "By which, of course, I mean a dusty, travel-stained cleric with more enthusiasm than coin."
Gale's brows twitched briefly toward furrowing before he--as she hoped--let it lie. "Well, you won't need to after I confer this knowledge upon you. For now, however, could you fetch some parsley, please?"
"Of course." Tala swiveled to root through pockets for the herb, tone completely innocent as she added, "Would you like some turmeric as well?"
"Very funny," he drawled. "And no, thank you. Just the parsley."
She handed it over and settled back in to resume watching. "What other sorts of things do you know how to make?"
Gale chuckled. "Do you want them alphabetically or categorized by course?"
Oh, that was promising. Tala grinned. "Surprise me."

DnD/Fantasy AU! What would the boys' races be? (Cadence would be human)
Sorry for the wait! I’M GLAD YOU ASKED because I’ve been meaning to draw this forever since I’ve been obsessed with Baldur’s Gate 3 (it basically makes up my DnD knowledge)! I had their race/classes jotted down in my notes for months. Here’s what I came up with, hope you like it!

People love to hire orcs as security guards and bodyguards because they're loyal, stubborn and, generally, glad to be able to cause trouble.
//
Los orcos son cotizados como guardias de seguridad y guardaespaldas pues son fieles, tercos, y en general, encantados de poder hacerla de pedo.

I understand the want to see the cute orc girl from dungeon meshi more but I cannot emphasize enough that "the catgirl that hasn't shown up yet" is a main character who is plot central. You're gonna see her on the dash more often.

Todays fellowship movie opinion is, I think the orc closeups in the Last Alliance flashback @ the intro do a disservice to suspense. The grand reveal of their creature design in Moria would’ve hit harder if it was just. Wide shots of that stanky lil run they do

More micro stories and prompts?? YAY!
So, let's say.
Starry for Maria
Truth for Elowen
Medicine for Arianwen
Profane for Emma
Initiative for Salshira
… Pick the one(s) that you'd like best of course, no obligation to do them all! ✨
YAY BACK, oh man, you just know what I had to do for "initiative" right? Because now I desperately want a modern AU dnd group with Salshira as the DM. She would make a fantastic DM.
Thank you, Arja! 💗
(Micro-Fic Prompts)
Starry
“Lavender’s green, dilly dilly, lavender’s blue,” Maria sang, and motes of light spun from her fingertips, swirling in tiny constellations over the cradle before her. Leander reached for them, cooing, his tiny eyes fixed on the starry whorls above his bed.
“You must love me, dilly dilly, for I love you.”
This past few weeks, he’d refused to fall asleep without something to watch when she put him down to sleep. She’d been the same as a child—lights much like these were the first thing she’d ever called from the other side of the Fade—so Hawke would stand by his bed and sing until he dozed off at last. It was just a phase, she’d been assured, and the babe would grow out of it in time. For now, she didn’t much mind the singing, nor the stars.
“Who told you so, dilly dilly, who told you so?” she sang, and smiled when she saw movement in her periphery: pale hair against the shadows, the shift of a shoulder against the doorframe, always watching in case she needed him. Ah, how she loved them both.
“Twas my own heart, dilly dilly, that told me so.”
Truth
“Tell the truth,” Varric panted between bolts, “it’s the hair, isn’t it?”
Elowen cast him a horrified glance and tossed a fistful of lightning at the bear they were fighting.
“You want to talk about this now?” she asked, and ducked when a massive paw would have crushed her head. Varric snagged her arm and tugged her out of range while Cassandra swung into the breach.
“What else could it be?” he asked. “He’s not exactly the most charming guy out there.”
“Varric,” Elowen said, and slammed the butt of her staff on the ground, “no. Stop trying to turn this into a narrative.”
“I’m just saying—” he began, but she gestured sharply.
“Let it go,” she insisted, and then he had no choice but to let it go, for the first bear had called for a second and there was no longer any breath to talk with.
Medicine
“The mage sent me with your medicine,” the assassin said, and he was opening the flap of her tent before Tabris could decide if she wanted to pull the blanket over her damaged arm or leave it out in the open.
Zevran hissed between his teeth and crouched beside her, eyeing the burned skin over her wrist and forearm.
“A nasty wound,” he said, “do you need help with it?”
“No,” Wen said sharply, and winced when she tried to angle her arm closer, “...maybe.”
Zevran made a soft noise, tongue against teeth, and carefully sat beside her. Wen hissed at the sensation of the balm on her tender skin and buried her face in her shoulder.
“Why did she not come herself?” he asked idly, his fingertips very careful over her skin.
“I told her to fuck off when she offered,” Wen muttered into her shoulder, flinching when he laughed and traced ointment over the edge of the wound. His fingertips were callused and warm; for some reason, she hadn’t expected that.
“There—it is done,” he said a moment later, and stood to go.
“Thank you,” she muttered in response, long after the tent flap had swung shut again and the sound of footsteps had faded away.
Profane
It felt profane to walk here.
How funny to think so, after all the ruins and temples Emma had explored as a child. But this place—this temple—was different. It felt alive somehow, as if the goddess it revered was still present to watch what she did here.
“I am sorry,” she told the first statue of Mythal in Elvhen, “I want to help and I will be as careful as I can be, but there are others here who mean this place harm.”
She could hear the others murmuring behind her, feel the weight of Solas’s stare against the back of her neck. He’d been odd since they approached this place, but she couldn’t put her finger on why.
Didn’t matter. He’d made it clear that her faith was not his, and that was fine.
“Let’s do these puzzles,” she said after a moment, turning away from the remote expression of the statue. “We have to make this right, however we still can.”
Initiative
“The high inquisitor rises from her throne, staff in hand, magic spilling from her fingertips,” Salshira said, rising slightly from her chair as she spoke. “‘You have overstepped your bounds and you must pay the price,’ she says, and when she waves her hand every single one of the doors behind you slams shut and locks.”
The six players at the table before her gazed on in various stages of horror, Cassandra’s hands clasped before her, Cullen with one palm over his forehead, Bull grinning broadly and rubbing his hands together.
“You know what I’m gonna say,” Salshira said, spreading her hands.
The others groaned and fumbled around for dice, Sera drawing her set from under a paper plate and two grease-stained sheets of paper, Varric from inside a velvet-lined case, and Josephine from the precise line of dice she’d set before her. Salshira waited until all six players held their d20 in hand before grinning and leaning forward.
“Roll for initiative,” she said, and the fight began.

'Any trespasser found by the guard is to be held at the tower. Prisoner is to be stripped. Full description of every article, garment, weapon, letter, ring, or trinket is to be sent to Lugbúrz at once, and to Lugbúrz only. And the prisoner is to be kept safe and intact, under pain of death for every member of the guard, until He sends or comes Himself. That's plain enough, and that's what I'm going to do.'
'Stripped, eh?' said Gorbag. 'What, teeth, nails, hair, and all?'
This is absolutely horrifying that what “stripped” means needs to be clarified like that.
It also really goes to show how truly lucky that Merry and Pippin were when the Uruk-hai had them that they were 1) too much in a hurry and 2) under orders not to do anything like that. Yet.
But the fact that these are the people who currently have Frodo is utterly terrifying
