I am geniunely really frustrated with how...anticlimactic this part feels to me. I wish I had drawn it better and had been more careful when doing my finishing steps :/ I didn't spend as much time on lining/coloring this part this week as I would have liked, so I'm really sorry it kinda falls flat ;-; I hope you all enjoy it regardless <33

having seen at least the rough outlines of all the romances now I have to say that I think emmrich's is probably objectively the best in terms of coherence and completeness of story arc (with the understanding that ultimately the 'best' romance is whichever one makes YOUR heart sing anyway so objectivity is a silly thing to claim that way, it just felt like it's the arc with the most well-paced focused content and the least dangling threads)... but lucanis' is my favourite haha. just. the whole kneeling before your beloved full of reverence but without any of the distance that usually implies??? his complete undramatic certainty and calm in every scene with rook after this, having spent the whole game caught between fear and longing???? mr. lives in a pantry but it says nothing about my psyche don't worry about it it's purely for tactical reasons that I keep myself contained in a small dark room not entirely unlike a cell, love among the parsnips -- finally coming to rook in their room and it's so comfortable and comforting???? after all the times rook supports and comforts him through the game he's finally able to return the same to them when they need it while being so calm and steady and it's so fucking sweet and feels so effortless and with no price attached?????? he basically assigns himself the role of your bodyguard and he WILL stab a god over it??????????????? the turn to protector (which was in his heart all along longing to get out and find a place) of it all????? he sounds like he's found himself unexpectedly stumbling into such a soul-lightening state of revelatory existential relief, full on 'you only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves' mary oliver style, and he goes and he shares that with rook and protectively envelops them in it when they're hurting??????????????????????????? hello for the maker's sake hello can anyone hear me?????

Do you have more Moby Dick: Modern Translation chapters anywhere that certain interested parties (me and everyone with taste) could read?

In reference to this translation of Moby Dick into insufferable modern idiom, in which Ishmael is suddenly shown up in a startling light as a person we’ve actually met and knew well but didn’t really like:

I’m sorry, I haven’t written any more of that! After chapter 1’s mad rush of energy, the book tackles more tricky, boring and unfunny content, including passages that are just uncomfortably problematic in any time; and, like, entire chapters about listening to a church sermon.

A line translation (and that is mostly a very faithful line translation! The only thing I regret not doing was perfectly capturing the fart joke!) apparently has a lot of educational value, and helps to reframe the whole novel. That’s worthy work! But i simply wouldn’t want to do a line translation on the next few chapters. My brain is picking daisies instead, already. I would say: “sorry, I’m abridging this for my own mental health. You’re eligible for a free refund.” In which case the educational value is negligible (you can just read the plot summary online. There’s a really big whale in it.)

Anyone else who wants to take a stab at it (FROM HELL’S HEART) would be welcome and I’ll gladly promote your efforts. It’s just. I am going

wonwoo looks away from his game as you walk in through the door of the study room, his eyes instantly softening at your nightsuit-clad figure. you've been living with him long enough to not dwell on his habit of wearing his headphones slightly off-center when you're in the house.

after a couple of times of interrupting him while he was gaming, you had asked him why he left part of his ear exposed when you were around. "so i can hear you properly when you're here", he had said, oblivious to the rush his words gave you. for all his quiet, he's loud in his considerations towards you.

"hey", he murmurs, pausing his game, "thought you'd be asleep by now".

and so you should be. you're generally so tired after your 9-5 job that you're dead asleep by midnight.

"i want to sleep", you respond, trying to sound less sulky, "but i saw the recent going seventeen episode, and now i can't sleep".

"ah", he replies, eyes twinkling as he takes your hands in both of his, "i thought you had a rule about not watching scary stuff before bedtime?"

"i broke it to see your pretty face on screen", you shrug, smiling slightly at wonwoo's grin, "how did you do it? you said you weren't scared at all, but what i saw -- "

wonwoo waits for you to finish.

"-- was scary", and you do, rather inelegantly.

"i knew i was safe", he rubs his thumbs soothingly over yours, "they take care of us, i knew it was going to be okay".

"and you're not a scaredy-cat like me", you add sullenly.

"maybe", he smiles gently, "i'm okay. we were all okay. we're never in danger at GoSe shoots".

you wonder if you should brood on how easily wonwoo reads you. it's not like you try to hide things from him, but your less rational thoughts (let's be real -- ofcourse he was never in any danger, who even thinks like that?) should be a little more difficult to notice.

wonwoo doesn't seem annoyed at all at you though, as he pulls you closer to rest his head on your midriff, his arms coming to wound around your body as he closes his eyes.

"how about some david attenborough to relax?", he pulls back slightly to murmur, "we can make some cocoa too".

my favorite headcanon: the only season in jack's whole entire career where he isn't 110% focused on getting to and winning the cup is the one leading up to their wedding. bitty and he did plan around the playoffs, and are getting married later in the summer, but still - for the first time ever, some part of jack thinks it won't be so bad if the falcs get eliminated and he has more time to participate in the wedding preparations with bitty.

so of course, that is exactly the season the falcs win the cup again. bitty can't decide if he's more proud/overjoyed or angry about it.
