Okayyyyy so City of the Dead thoughts for anyone who cares

Was I disappointed? My expectations weren't super high so I guess not, but the super overdramatic self pitying narration threw me off quite a bit. Like okay man chill out a bit. Kind of expected to not see Layla until the end so I guess there I was disappointed but not surprised. Fingers crossed she will be a central character from here on out and not a one and done thing in the series.

Okay elephant in the room time. I know a lot of people have been saying they REALLY did not like it and I really cannot blame them, but also I'm trying to stay hopeful because it just the first issue. I'm hesitant to get pissed off over the total lack of Jake and Steven just yet, when in Mackay's series neither made an appearance until like a year into the run. Yes this series isn't going to be nearly as long, but still. That being said, no I definitely don't expect Moon Knight to really be shown as a system, but I'm gonna give Prepose a couple more issues to prove me wrong (the bar is on the floor). Mainly just because I feel like it would be hypocritical of me to denounce Prepose for not including them and then praise Mackay when it took him 12 issues to really acknowledge that they are a system. I'm going to give Prepose a chance since he wrote a pretty good Black, White, and Blood story that did have them shown as a system in a pretty cool way imo.

All this to say that I'm not trying to undermine anyone else's concerns, this is just my own opinion and trust me, based on what little interviews I've read I fully expect Jake and Steven to be completely ignored and if (and when) that happens I will be right there with the rest of yall lol. I will say that it's already very clear that the set up so far was not written with the intention of having a place for Steven or Jake, which is very disappointing.

Okay positive things! I enjoyed seeing Dr Badr a lot and i didn't have much of an issue with how he and Marc's relationship was portrayed. Yes in the main run they're closer now, but they are still very much at odds but willing to work together towards a common goal, which is exactly what we see here in this issue.

I also liked where the thing with the kid is going. The detail of him being kicked out after his brother's death definitely makes me think he's going to be a reflection of Marc, which would be a cool parallel to have.

And the art for the most part was really gorgeous! I don't know what the hell was going on with Layla there at the end (otherwise great male artists not knowing how to draw women), but other than that I REALLY loved how the actual city looked.

And the Egyptian mythology was actually a lot more accurate than it usually is, which, as someone who has always been a total nerd about that stuff, actually made me really happy. There are several specific things I wanted to point out but this post is long enough as is.

Also. "I don't care if I burn" that was badass as shit come on. One of the (admittedly several!) moments of overdramatic writing that came off very well kind of like how it does in the Mackay run (don't wanna compare this too much to the Mackay run though because I understand it's obviously going to be different and that's fine)

But yeah. The overall feel and tone was very... off. I was on board with the general plot and Marc's motivations but everything around the basic plot structure just seemed like Prepose was trying to do a weird Huston run thing and it wasn't working (I don't think it worked in the Huston run either but I digress).

I've seen people saying that they didn't like how Marc was an enthusiastic follower of Khonshu, but that wasn't really the vibe I got at all? If anything it was pretty clear how much he hated everything he was doing. Which also kinda felt off. Having him say that everything was "punishment" over and over just kind of felt like I was getting hit on the head with a theme that didn't even make sense for the character, at least not at this point. Don't get me wrong, self punishment is absolutely a big part of Marc Spector's character, but there is an important distinction between doing things to right your past wrongs and doing them because you feel like you deserve it. And it seemed like Prepose understood that at first, but then later into the issue I was like Marc PLEASE shut the fuck up about punishment lol.

People more knowledgeable than myself have said things about how this looks from the standpoint that this is also a Jewish character, but all I'm going to say as a general statement for all of Moon Knight's runs is that I wish they would let him be explicitly Jewish more often. It's mentioned in Mackay's run the clash between Marc's service to Khonshu and his Judaism, but I think that that is such an interesting part of his character that needs to be discussed WAY more!

Anyway, to make a long story short, definitely not the strongest first issue, but it absolutely had some great moments and I'm going to go forward with my expectations still pretty low, but willing to give it a shot for Layla's sake. But the fact that a run featuring Layla is already not turning out to be very good is a little bit heartbreaking for me I'm not gonna lie lol. I was going to go and buy myself a copy of this issue, but after actually reading it I didn't really want it anymore. So 😬 fingers crossed for the next issue I guess?

I was reading here and I was excited and curious about your fic about Byler having sex in the garden and it starts to rain, I liked it. 😏

Another point i wanted to bring up here is about the doubts that some people have about Byler being canonical or not, i even understand, there are years and years of negative queer media, where queer couples almost never have a happy ending, people always expect the worst, i understand and i don't judge. But, i would honestly ask the Duffer brothers why they made Will be in love with Mike if Byler isn't canonical, he might not need to go through that, it's like kicking a dead dog, it would even be cruel. This line of thinking and other things lead me to believe in the canonical Byler. Byler not being real at the end of it all would be cruel to Will, he wouldn't even need to fall in love with anyone during the series, his arc could easily just be about acceptance of who he is by his family and friends, especially Mike, who he was your first friend. There's no point in making Will in love with Mike if they're not going to be together romantically, it would sound like a mockery of the character, in my opinion. So let's keep hope, soon, we will have our favorite couple very happy. 🏳️‍🌈💙💛

I'm very excited about the garden in the rain fic!! It's going to be so sweet. I write a lot of stuff that's a little off beat, a little hyper-realistic, and not to say that his fic won't have my typical flair, but I also really want to write something sooooo so sappy because I'm working on a few in a row that will be kinda pure filth so. Cutesy romance it is. The whole vibe of just being so in love and so caught up in your partner that you barely notice the elements. The privacy and safety of your home you've made together and they're making love in the garden and why would they stop just because of a little summer rain storm? It's very peak romance. Love it. Hope yall will, too!!

And yes, you are correct! People want to protect their emotions and I feel for that. I get it. Part of me feels the same, should be a little less emotionally invested - but I can't help it! Why would the creators have made the choices they've made if Byler was not the end goal? It's so cruel otherwise. They didn't have to write the show this way, but so far - they have. Why else would they write Will in love with Mike? That's the biggest question. Because Will could still be gay without this element, he still could have a coming out arc based around uncertainty that his family and friends would accept him, deal with that in the face of the town - and he still will have some of that but mainly, his biggest fear is being unloved and feeling like a mistake. At this point in the show, the only thing satisfying would be for Will to triumph over his struggles and the other elements of the plot, and end the show having now found love. He wants Mike!! He loves Mike!! It is so cruel to not end with that realized. People argue "what about El? Does she not deserve love?" And I've said before and said again - she needs self-love and family/friends. Not the love of a boyfriend. We are shown that didn't give her what she needs. Mike needs to be needed. Will needs Mike. Well, look at that. Makes sense.

Militat Omnis Amans: The Beginnings by edaen - 92k words, fantasy, werewolf!jk, vampire!jm, forbidden love, super slow burn but super worth it, JIKOOK IN THIS IS MY FAVORITE JIKOOK IN ANY FIC EVER EVER EVER, this is the ultimate all or nothing will freeze hell over for the other kind of love, and the way this is written is just so... how do i describe it. like you can just tell the author wanted to be very realistic with their feelings. you’ve seen the word count, this is SLOW burn. like you will legit feel their struggle to just be able to love each other and while it hurts, it’s also SO GLORIOUS. i love this one so much and if you like reading angst with happy ending but like cranked up to 200% then read this. bonus feels if you read the whole series

Until Dawn (series) by edaen - this is the long series where the previous one above is part of. highly rec if you love fantasy and you wanna read about bts being a rag tag group of supernatural beings fighting evil yay. also it makes the above fic more satisfying because you see more of jikook just being tgt and in love (with bonus angst because of course)

uhhhhhh so i guess we start with picking a character u really Vibe with tm? I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE COMMON SENSE BUT LIKE ive been considering making a genshin ask blog for a while now but i never really got to it cos i couldnt really decide on a character (plus the fact that their outfits are. so intricate. is also a hmm since i try to follow details to a t) (at first i wanted to do zhongli, but i feel like to be able to muse him well u need to know the lore super super well, which i dont n im too lazy to research on that aha. n u know how much i respect characterizations, especially for such a complex character like him. i also considered xiangling for a period of time mostly for guoba but also like i have 2+1 blogs here n having one more might not be a very good idea aha) (as for aesop he was my Hyperfixation Character tm also cos i looked at his kit n went Yep i could work with this. probably)

so assuming ur not a dumbass like me n u kinda know who u wanna pick, id actually say to snoop around here for other ask blogs n kinda get a feel of the... scene? is that the word? or like u know, other blogs that u can potentially vibe with. ive run a couple of ask blogs before this current one (both that have died for different reasons) n from my experience interacting with other blogs (if theyre okay with it, i think most should be) is pretty fun. it also kinda helps get ur blog around to other ppl on other blogs so they can go Oh whats this cool shit n check u out, n its also a reason why we kinda reblog promo posts for other blogs (also cos we’re always excited when someone new comes on, its really the more the merrier. we see all :eyes:). interacting with other blogs is also an option when ur inbox is looking real roomy too

another reason why i havent exactly done a genshin blog is that idk i cant actually seem to find genshin ask blogs around (i have seen rp blogs, or those that answer asks with mostly text instead of art, but thats. not my thing since i hate my own writing aha) (i did find one aether blog some time ago, but for some reason i hardly see them around anymore??? idk man i might be wrong). its not like im trying super hard to find them ask blogs, so im sure they exist out there (hopefully?? im not sure but im being optimistic). i mean theres nothing wrong with just starting an ask blog without others around, but for me i do find a difference when i interact with other ask blogs n when i dont, n i prefer when theres others to have fun with (unfortunately i couldnt find any ask blogs to interact with in my previous fandom. i tried, but the blogs i approached seemed to go inactive shortly afterwards...) plus u get to meet friends that way too :D (i made a lot of friends via idv askblogs n its really been a joy vibing with others)

as for the idv scene. gestures around me. unfortunately there are a lot of ask blogs that arent that active anymore, but theres still some of us who are alive n kicking empty inboxes, n im sure everyone would love to see a new face around. winks at u. also there seems to be a lot more blogs popping up lately, which is really heartening to see.

then u kinda just. make ur blog? n a starting introduction post so ppl can reblog it n spread the word XD n yay u have a blog i guess??? XD

i gotta say tho. dont expect ur blog to take off immediately (especially for smaller fandoms like idv, tvbh i didnt think my blog would even get half this far when i started cos of how non existent idv tumblr seemed to be) n ur inbox will probably be looking pretty empty a lot of the time (or at least filled with some that u havent quite thought of how to reply to yet aha) (but also like empty inboxes happen pretty often, im sure most of us here have experienced this problem)

in the case of the first ask blog i ever started, it never really took off at all. ngl it was kind of demoralizing n depressing but to be fair i had picked one of the more obscure characters in the series, so obscure that many ppl in the fandom would have never heard of this character before. if u wanted to know, i took a character that only appeared in the 2nd musical of the series, who also made a very brief cameo in the manga to acknowledge his existence within that universe. thats how obscure my character was, but i went with him purely because he was my favourite character. i will say though i did enjoy it while it lasted n i learnt a lot from the experience, n i think thats whats important really.

i guess this kinda leads on (not really but let me digress) to the whole uhhhh thing where if u choose a more popular character, u get more attention. which is fine i guess? if u really vibe with the character, i mean theyre popular for a reason. n choosing a more popular fandom (like genshin) would objectively also get u more viewers n numbers. but like honestly i believe that ask blogs are meant for u to have fun with, n like trying to get popular gets tiring pretty fast (this shouldnt be like a main goal, but u know sometimes u subconsciously also want that gucci follower count n bomb ass notes or something. i used to be guilty of this until i realized it isnt worth it) especially if ur not enjoying yourself in the process. (case in point: my previous fandom was considerably larger n my blog got about 700 followers within a year or so, but it got very tiring n stressful to maintain after my interest in it died, n no one was really interacting with the blog even though i tried which kinda made it even more depressing despite the so called success n popularity of the blog)

anyway on a less serious note, theres a lot of fun stuff u can do with the ask blog, like some ask blogs have really fancy tags that i really like n try to do but also like not really HAHAHAHA. i kinda just channel what i want to see in an ask blog into my own ask blogs (good art is one, i try very hard for it to be good :,DD another is characterization, n others is just extra miscellaneous arts n stuffs like au ideas or memes. these are also somethings u could work on during ask box downtimes perhaps)

uhhh another side thing is like a posting schedule i guess? like ppl would be more likely to interact (i think) if ur blog is relatively active, n this is usually determined by the last post u made (i think XD). but like generally for blog maintenence id say try to kinda find a frequency that ur comfortable with?? cos i know my once a day posting is kinda insane if i wasnt so hyperfixated on all of this n fight the urge to dump all ur replies when u finish them XD (though ive seen some blogs do that n they do it pretty frequently so its pretty nice to know once u see their post u can spend some time going through the latest batch of posts XD) the queue function is pretty useful here even though i truthfully have never really used it, i kinda just post from my drafts really but it also helps to space out ur content to seem somewhat active especially when u dont have the time to be working on replies sometimes. i hope u know what im trying to say here aha

ANYWAY that was like my 1.5 cents cos i dont even think its worth 2 cents HAHAHAHAH these are just my thoughts from running all my blogs up till now, some that are still running n the others that have just died a natural death. i wouldnt actually delete them (theyre still around actually XD) cos theyre kinda like archives n i can look back at what i did last time. cos ngl i made some high quality stuff back then, n i dont even know how i managed to do that aldhflhdsgk. also ppl do look at archive blogs every now n then for the content thats there yknow

2. the second thing i Always bring up at icebreakers/etc is that i am a certified scuba diver!! i adore the ocean and respect it deeply with all the fear in my heart,, it’s so lovely, i’ll never forget the feeling of being like 50m down and looking up and it’s just: w a t e r

3. i really enjoy finding random lil communities of hobbyists and uhhhh that basically bleeds over into whatever i become mildly obsessed with for the next couple months and inevitably becomes a future life goal; currently it is fishkeeping/aquascaping and rare succulents ESPECIALLY haworthias i love haworthias so much guys

4. whenever i have a choice my academic projects are like 80% about fandoms and 20% about medical humanities and thats basically a summary of Me As An Academic And Human Being (which speaking of,, i just wrapped up a conference presentation where i got to present my research on queer cn diaspora in danmei fandom and i was so nervous but it was SO fun even tho it was over zoom)

5. oh my god not to get all academic again but i am Obsessed w the medical humanities you guys it’s so cool (basically it’s the intersection of medicine + the arts, whether that means incorporating art as an augmentative treatment or incorporating medical experiences into art!! a lot of ppl are somewhat familiar w music therapy or art therapy and those fall under this category) LIKE,, i honestly feel so seen at this intersection?? and both fields would truly benefit from (and need!!) the influence of the other

6. and now for a complete 180: i go through clothes super slowly and rarely buy new clothes so half my wardrobe hasnt changed in Years . meaning: a bunch of it is still stuff my mom picked out for me o)-( this is an unfortunate combo of the fact that i used to hate clothes shopping + never used to go shopping w friends Ever + am a creature of habit

7. ok so my parents made me learn piano from a young age and i, to their horror, actually loved it and seriously considered persuing music ed when i graduated hs LMFAO like if i lived in an ideal world my majors would be music ed + museum studies / museumology + medical humanities + fandom/media studies

8. as a result of being a longtime classically trained pianist i subscribe p closely to the Stereotypical Classical Musician Genres (kpop, anime music / jrock, modern classical) with a dash of whatever my friends throw my way (alt, indie, folk, i dont even technically know most of the terms lmfao) so it really tracks that my fav song rn is from a modern-traditional cn music group

9. i have a whole complex abt being multifaceted and Extremely Interesting As A Person so this is great for me HAHAHAHA but yes i am fundamentally v concerned with being a ~unique individual~ (my enneagram rly called me out on that one......im a type 4 iirc) and i feel like that shows a lot in how i use and present myself on this site lmaooo

some reflections as i near the last 3 weeks of my first full covid semester

goals for next semester that i didn’t do this semester because of sheer exhaustion:

actually looking at the notes I write. like at all. not necessarily rewriting them to be pretty and perfect 500 times, but just like, actually reviewing them. i have not touched a n y of my notes this semester and i know it’s better to have taken them than not at all but damn

on that note, actually writing the vocab i learn in my language classes. i got a rare moment of peace today where I was able to write down the metric fuckton of words my professor gave me rather than having to flip, flip, flip between the worksheet and the vocab sheet

starting to review earlier than a couple days before a test. I’ve done a decent job of learning from that mistake with starting essays at least (because in covid times, professors never tell you about the fact an essay is coming up, nor even give you enough time between learning the material and writing the essay, bc they’re pretending they’re not also slowly dying)

drop classes that are going to kick my ass. seriously. i didn’t have this option this sem because the hardest class was one required for my major, but i’m trying my damndest to engineer my schedule for next semester so that I am comfortable. there’s no need to make an already hard ass time harder. if I don’t get good vibes from a prof, I’m going to drop.

drop that internship that is abusing me. $200 for the whole semester is not worth what I’m going through right now lmao.

journal more. write poetry more. these two things in the last couple weeks have made a huge difference even though I’m still struggling.

continue to be honest with friends, family, therapist, profs, etc. I’m so scared of admitting my vulnerabilities to people, especially those I look up to, but it’s been absolutely essential to getting me through things this sem.

I love his bluntness. 👀 He’s not the type to beat around the bush or be passive aggressive. He’s super up front and it helps keep me in check and make sure we are always communicating well in our relationship. In the beginning he was more reserved, but once he opened up to me he started being vocal about his feelings, needs, etc. It’s also so attractive to see him just be so blunt it could almost be seen as rude to randoms or people he works with. 😂 He does not mess around - it’s sOOOOO HOT!!!!!!🤤

Akutagawa admires my sweetness.🥺🥺🥺 He thinks I have such a big heart and he wants to protect it with his entire being! He can’t believe how nice I am to people I don’t even know and he always tells me he can just feel that it’s genuine too, since he knows me so well. He thinks it’s an amazing trait, but he’s always telling me to be careful and take care of my own needs too. He’s very adamant about me not letting myself get taken advantage of by others because of my kindness.

Akutagawa used to love to smoke cigarettes when I met him, which I thought was a gross habit. I convinced him to go onto vaping and we got matching juuls together (couple goals!). Since he has a lung disease, I try my best to get him to vape less and hopefully quit eventually, but he has to make that decision his own! Other than that he doesn’t really have any habits I can’t stand.

Akutagawa hates that I bite my nails. He knows it’s because of my anxiety and he tries to be understanding but he really doesn’t like it at all. He thinks it’s gross and he tells me there’s no need for things like that. He’s mad because he thinks I have such cute, small hands and he hates to see the hangnails and messed up nails. So he’s always paying for me to get my nails done and keep them looking good, anything to stop me from biting them! He’s so thoughtful. If he ever catches me like biting at my nails he gently swats my hand and tells me to stop and asks me if there’s anything going on that’s making me anxious.

just   when   it   looks   as   if   he’s   about   to   reach   his   full   potential   ,   comes   the   accident   .   minho   is   backstage   preparing   to   perform   an   opening   routine   at   the   bbmas   ,   the   crowd   is   chanting   his   name   ,   he   goes   on   stage   and   during   the   final   handstand   ,   he   trips   .   the   pain   on   his   lower   back   and   right   leg   is   tremendous   ,   yet   he   pulls   through   it   .   what   he   cannot   come   to   terms   with   is   making   a   mistake   that   could   potentially   destroy   his   entire   career   .   maybe   if   he   had   slept   one   hour   less   ,   he   could’ve   practiced   more   ,   perhaps   he   just   isn’t   good   enough   and   this   is   a   sign   that   this   route   is   not   for   him   .   all   these   thoughts   cloud   his   mind   on   the   way   to   the   hospital   ,   awaiting   for   a   final   verdict   on   his   injurties   .

he   walks   on   crutches   for   3   whole   months   and   spends   countless   hours   in   therapy   sessions   to   get   himself   back   in   shape   ,   but   he’s   too   humilated   to   step   into   the   limelight   once   again   .   though   minho   hasn’t   lost   his   confidence   ,   the   fear   of   history   repeating   itself   is   eminent   enough   for   him   to   shy   away   from   his   previous   lifestyle   .   after   a   year   of   supposedly   processing   what   his   next   move   should   be   ,   he   makes   the   decision   to   isolate   himself   by   moving   to   san   verto   and   opening   his   own   dance   studio   ,   a   path   that   seems   much   safer   for   his   future   .   

his   popularity   continues   to   grow   through   social   media   ,   his   previous   performances   and   most   recently   ,   an   appearance   as   a   judge   on   so   you   think   you   can   dance   .   business   is   booming   ,   but   the   spark   he   once   had   in   him   has   faded   and   though   he   knows   how   much   he   misses   the   stage   ,   he   won’t   admit   and   face   his   fears   .   the   one   good   thing   his   new   profession   has   brought   to   light   is   the   fact   that   minho   has   never   had   time   for   himself   ever   since   he   first   started   dancing   .   he   is   now   beginning   to   live   his   life   more   freely   and   so   is   conflicted   ,   stuck   between   a   dream   career   and   the   real   life   he   never   got   to   experience   .

in   an   attempt   to   distract   himself   from   all   the   thoughts   clouding   his   mind   ,   he   spends   most   of   his   free   time   volunteering   at   the   nightowl   animal   shelter   .   most   likely   doesn’t   share   the   giving   side   of   him   with   many   and   if   ever   caught   red   handed   ,   he   can   and   will   pretend   he’s   not   there   to   help   out   .

minho   is   competitive   ,   disciplined   ,   passionate   about   what   he   loves   ,   stubborn   ,   charismatic   ,   he   can   be   callous   with   a   hard   exterior   ,   sensitive   and   vulnerable   only   when   he’s   alone   ,   there’s   a   condescending   vibe   to   him   that’s   been   built   up   to   his   ambition   and   cockiness   ,   but   can   be   an   absolute   lovebug   if   and   when   he   wants   (   for   extremely   limited   audience   )   .   his   focus   has   never   really   been   in   relationships   ,   due   to   the   hunger   he   had   for   what   once   was   a   bright   career   ,   but   you   would   not   call   him   inexperienced   wink   .   can   turn   from   min-no   to   min-hoe   real   quick   ,   but   is   probably   the   type   to   never   text   back   or   ghost   you   after   a   week   or   two   .

some   random   facts   about   him   are   that   he   has   a   habit   of   biting   his   lips   .   loves   velvet   jackets   ,   but   the   touch   of   velvet   mentally   irritates   him   so   much   .   he   turns   on   all   fans   and   the   a   /   c   ,   then   covers   himself   with   a   blanket   .   if   you   reach   down   his   pockets   ,   you’ll   probably   find   lip   chap   ,   kinesio   tape   and   airpods   .   

he   has   a   peanut   allergy   and   a   barely   noticeable   limp   on   weak   days   .   mostly   wears   designer   clothes   even   when   dressed   in   sweats   from   top   to   bottom   .   the   rest   of   the   styling   consists   of   headbands   ,   ornate   rings   ,   mostly   silver   earrings   and   berets   when   he’s   feeling   them   .   he   has   a   small   seashell   tattoo   on   his   right   side   and   a   scar   across   the   front   of   his   leg   due   to   surgery   .   

picked   up   smoking   after   quitting   his   career   as   a   professional   dancer   .   doesn’t   drink   an   awful   lot   ,   but   can   go   stupid   and   go   crazy   at   parties   .   and   last   but   not   least   ,   the   relationship   he   has   with   his   parents   is   pretty   stereotypical   ,   because   he’s   learned   to   dismiss   any   feelings   of   loneliness   by   spending   a   couple   of   hours   alone   at   the   studio   .
