more WoT s3 spec - what we know vs what we're guessing at
I've been poking at what we know about s3 vs what we can reasonably guess, so I wanted to break that down a bit.
So there are a few things we know just about the structure of how the show has worked so far: we know they shoot in blocks of two episodes each and that each of those blocks is going to have the same director for both episodes. Because of this info, we can make some guesses at where specific episodes may land. We also have some casting info (wotseries.com being a great resource here).
They tend to have a major reveal in the fourth episode - Nynaeve being incredibly powerful in the One Power in 1x04; Selene being Lanfear in 2x04.
What we know for certain:
Rhuidean & the Waste will appear (Rand & Egwene's storyline).
Tanchico will appear (Nynaeve & Elayne's storyline).
The Two Rivers will appear (Perrin's storyline).
Rand and Perrin will each get focus episodes akin to Nynaeve having "What Might Be" and Egwene having "Eyes Without Pity" in s2.
We have four episode titles: "To Race The Shadow"; "A Glimpse of Crimson"; "Goldeneyes"; and "He Who Comes With The Dawn".
Sea Folk are confirmed for S3.
Potential leaks include:
Mat, Min, and Thom all being part of Nynaeve & Elayne's storyline in Tanchico. Big change for Mat & Min, but matches canon for Thom. And since show-onlys have only seen Thom with Mat and Rand, it would make sense to use Mat to re-introduce us to him.
Reports of the actresses reported to be playing Morgase and Elaida seen at a castle which is almost certainly in Caemlyn (Andoran banners spotted), most likely for the first or second episode due to the timing.
An actress playing Maigran (one of the Aiel from the Rhuidean glass columns sequence) is listed under the director who is being used for eps 3 and 4.
An actress has been cast to play an older version of Latra and I really like @wheeloftimeofficial's idea that we'll see her as the ancient Aes Sedai who establishes Rhuidean in the glass column memories, especially since the younger actress also has s3 listed on her CV.
We have (unofficially) confirmed castings for Faile & Galad.
Hints we've gotten from interviews & bts info:
In an interview filmed before the actors' strike, Daniel mentions Lan having some really good relationship scenes with Nynaeve, so we know that there's interaction between those characters before their plotlines separate, implying that we will not begin with everyone already all off on their separate journeys, like they were in 2x01.
Also from Daniel, it's implied that there are training scenes between Lan and Rand (could happen at any point, since Lan is likely to be in Rand's storyline the entire season).
From what Josha has said, the show will be pivoting to a more familial relationship between Egwene and Rand next season (which matches the book timing).
Rafe made a point of mentioning that Elayne healing Rand was to flag to the audience that this was a relationship to pay attention to (which implies we'll get at least some movement on that relationship in s3).
Josha also says that there is "way more togetherness" for Two Rivers' characters in s3 than in s2.
In an unrelated interview on screenrant, Rima Te Waita (Sheriam) mentioned that she will not be in s3 but, if s4 is greenlit, she will be in s4.
Josha and Ayoola posted some cute instas of each other after finishing up the South Africa shooting stint near Cape Town, which might be a hint towards our potential AviRand interactions (could also just be the actors being cute!).
Guesses based on book & show knowledge:
It seems likely to me that Gawyn & Galad will be introduced in the same episode as Morgase and Elaida, which I am tentatively going to guess will be episode 2.
I think that Verin, Alanna & their Warders are going to be getting out of Cairhien as quickly as possible. And that they are pretty conveniently set up to head to their TSR storyline.
I am pretty torn about when the coup will happen! I feel like it happening this season feels pretty much a lock because there really isn't any more "White Tower storyline" until the coup happens, and they do already have the set made. But it could either happen pretty early on or fairly late in the season. Maybe episode five? That lets us meet Elaida in episode 2, gives her and possibly Gawyn & Galad time to get to the White Tower, maybe we get some scenes of her politicking in the WT in episode 4, with the trigger being pulled in episode 5 or 6. But another possibility is that the coup happens right away, while all those Sisters are still in Cairhien and we see Liandrin take the lead on something like stilling Siuan and Leane, which would put the White Tower in chaos before Elaida even arrives. There are at least two Black Ajah Sisters in Cairhien, after all, and Liandrin likes to act extra-judicially, and she might want to try to make sure that Siuan is taken care of before anyone has a chance to out her (Liandrin) as Black Ajah. But there is also a chance that it might happen in the finale, so that we can parallel Moiraine & Siuan's 'downfalls'. So really this one is a wildcard for me. It isn't really directly tied to any other specific events in TSR, so it can happen whenever.
We will get the glass columns in episode 3 or 4. In the books, it happened as soon as Rand landed in the Waste, basically, but the show could potentially do Cold Rocks Hold first, depending on how Rand is getting to the Waste. I used to lean towards it happening in ep3, but after learning the leak about Mat being in Tanchico, it made me wonder about ep4, maybe, as that could potentially lead to Mat going through the doorways (just speculation with zero leaks or spoilers to back it up but I like it a lot lol) from Tanchico to Rhuidean either at the end of ep4 or the start of ep5, leaving Nynaeve & Elayne's storyline and going to Rand & Egwene's.
I do keep thinking about Josha saying that the Two Rivers' kids would have "way more togetherness" than in s3, which seems difficult if they all separate by or after ep2 and then don't reunite the entire season. I guess technically it would be true because they don't reunite in s2 until the final moments of 2x08 but feels somewhat underwhelming to mention, lol.
I do still suspect that we're getting Lanfear & Moiraine with the doorway at the end of the season.
So, a tentative outline. Now we leave behind the more solid leaks and knowledge and enter into the wild speculations. Please check out @markantonys' recent post too, she's got some fun speculations!
3x01: To Race the Shadow
"Way more togetherness" between the Two Rivers group than in s2, so says Josha. This is also where we have to be getting the Lan & Nynaeve romantic scenes that Daniel keeps hyping up, lol.
Moiraine and Rand are going to be arguing about his next plans.
Something will happen that makes them realize that Something Is Up in Tanchico -- this might be a first Dream from Egwene that leads them in the direction of the museum? Which also leads to her talking to Amys, which is why she decides to go with Rand instead of going with Nynaeve & Elayne. The big question for me is if they are going to Tanchico because of Liandrin or if they go for other reasons and then run into Liandrin also being there to get the same thing that they're getting.
Now Mat may go into a doorway here as speculated by @markantonys (the room of curiosities) but for this specific outline, I'm going to say that he doesn't, and instead he chooses to go with Elayne & Nynaeve because he's running away from Rand (after the Stabbening). This pulls in something that Mat tries to do a lot in the books but gives him a new motivation that fits his show character.
I think Lanfear is going to warn Rand about the rest of the Forsaken being free but potentially also send Liandrin to Tanchico to try to get the, uh, plot token for her potential use in the future (a girl needs a back-up plan).
Lanfear talking to Rand might be another thing that Rand and Moiraine argue about.
Rand and Egwene are going to have their official 'break-up' and then we'll see their more platonic relationship develop over the course of the season. I also feel like we have to have at least a scene or two with Rand and Elayne to establish them feeling Some Kind of Way about each other, to build on that moment from 2x08.
3x02: A Glimpse of Crimson
Good episode title for a Red Ajah & Andor episode!
I'm going to guess that Rand & co are going to be stopping in Caemlyn (my feelings are similar to @markantonys about us potentially getting a garden introduction between Egwene & Gawyn here, and then having Rand & Egwene meet Elaida & Morgase (and Galad?). Elaida will have her Foretelling about Rand and freak herself out.
Our group hears the rumors about the Two Rivers, and Perrin decides to go investigate. The question is how is Rand going to get to the Waste from Caemlyn? I don't feel like they would introduce Portal Stones as a one-off if they haven't done it before, so I think there's a chance that Loial might go with Rand instead of Perrin, as Perrin doesn't need to go through the Ways to get to the Two Rivers (of course, then they would need to change how the battle resolves in 3x07).
(alternatively: there's always the Lanfear express, I guess, lol)
This could also be when Elayne, Nynaeve, & Mat arrive in Tanchico, and their introduction to the city is our B plot. I don't think they would throw all the plots at them at once and I feel like just introducing Thom first would be a good start for the first episodes in Tanchico.
3x03: Unknown
Rand & co arrive in the Waste, but I'm going to send them to Cold Rocks Hold for now, instead of straight to Rhuidean. This gives Rand and Aviendha time to bond, Rand and Moiraine time to fight, Rand and Lan time to train together, and gives the audience a chance to get to know the Aiel culture in a bit more of a relaxed setting. Then we get an attack by Shadowspawn and Rand gets the reminder that the other Forsaken have been let free and don't share Ishamael and Lanfear's feelings about him.
Another plot will be in Tanchico, involving Nynaeve, Elayne, and Mat investigating, running into Min and/or Egeanin or Tuon taking Egeanin's role. This may be where we get our early encounters with Moghedien (she Compels one or more of our characters to spill the beans to her about their plans) and potentially where she reveals herself to Liandrin & co as one of the Chosen and takes control of their group after playing servant for part of the episode.
We also have Perrin & co arriving in the Two Rivers and getting the lay of the land. This could be a fairly emotional episode for Perrin, due to memories of Laila's death. Maybe when Perrin says goodbye to Laila (putting his ring on her grave/memorial?) and potentially our first sighting of Faile.
3x04: Unknown
Rand goes to Rhuidean and into the glass columns. This is the main plot of the episode and Rand's focus episode of the season.
We get the history of the Aiel here, and learn about Rand's ancestors.
Subplot: Aviendha is told that she is destined to be a Wise One (maybe she accidentally channeled during the fight at Cold Rocks Hold?) and deals with idea that she has to leave behind being a Maiden.
Our Tanchico B-plot leads to Mat entering through the twisted doorway in the museum, For Reasons, and getting his prophecies. Maybe this same plotline leads to Elayne and Nynaeve finding dream ter'angreal, and to Tuon/Egeanin realizing that Elayne and Nynaeve are channelers, and potentially learns that all sul'dam are, and then leaves our main plotline at this time.
3x05: Unknown
When Rand leaves the glass columns, he finds Mat hanging on the tree outside, and saves his life (we've gotten a few different pieces of foreshadowing about Mat being hanged, so I feel like it will happen at some point). Mat says he was just in Tanchico.
We catch up with Perrin in the Two Rivers, with him learning to move past his grief as he gets to know Faile.
Because we've already done Cold Rocks Hold, this means that Rand & co can go straight to Alcair Dal at this point.
Aviendha and Rand bond over their lives being dictated by being able to use the One Power and not having any choices about their future.
On the way to Alcair Dal, we meet the traders, who are hiding Lanfear and Asmodean in their ranks, and Lanfear sees that Rand is getting closer to Aviendha and Does Not Approve.
Nynaeve and Elayne worry about where Mat has disappeared to and experiment with the dream ter'angreal that they recently discovered in the museum (might only be one: the twisted stone ring, so that channeling isn't needed for it), and run into Birgitte in the dream. She gives them a warning but they realize that this is the same place that Egwene was talking about in 3x01 and are excited that they might be able to communicate with her.
3x06: Unknown
Another journey into TAR for Nynaeve (maybe a successful contact with Egwene?), and she encounters Birgitte again, but Moghedien too, and this leads to Birgitte getting ripped out of TAR and bonded by Elayne to save her life.
Moiraine tells Rand that he needs to go to Tear, to fulfill more of the prophecies, but Rand is resistant.
The Two Rivers ramps up for the battle.
This would also be a good spot for the coup, imo.
3x07: Goldeneyes
The Battle of the Two Rivers. Potentially Perrin's focus episode as well, as he comes into his own as a leader. I think that it would be good to push any confirmed Perrin/Faile romance forward into the future, so they will still just have some vibes for now.
We get some pieces moving into place for the other storylines: Rand arrives at Alcair Dal; Nynaeve and Elayne make plans to return to the museum.
3x08: He Who Comes With The Dawn
Desperate to get through to Rand and worrying that he is focusing on the Aiel instead of being the Dragon Reborn, Moiraine went back to Rhuidean to try to use the doorway, as when Mat talked about his experiences there, she recognized what he was talking about and wants answers of her own.
Rand announces himself at Alcair Dal, drawing the attention of Lanfear, who makes her pitch to him that We Could Rule Together, worrying that she's losing her hold over him after seeing him getting closer to Aviendha. She tells him about Asmodean and about him potentially teaching Rand so that he can reach his potential.
Inside the doorway, Moiraine gets answers that she doesn't like about Rand and Lanfear (sort of merging her going into the doorway in Tear with her going into the silver rings).
On the Tanchico side of things, we have our big Tanchico encounter between Nynaeve and Moghedien, which results in Nynaeve breaking her block. Nynaeve and Elayne escape Tanchico on a Sea Folk ship, heading towards Tear, potentially bringing Min & Thom along with them.
After talking with Lanfear, Rand is let out of his 'bubble' at Alcair Dal as Couladin declares that HE is the Car'a'carn and he will prove it by leading the Aiel to conquer the wetlands (setting up s4 to be a combo of TFoH/LoC, with a hint of TDR with the destination being Tear instead of Cairhien). Rand realizes that the fake dragons on Couladin's arms were put there by Asmodean and goes after him -- Asmodean Skims back to Rhuidean and he and Rand battle, and Lanfear arrives, puts the block on Asmodean and offers him up as a teacher to Rand. Moiraine takes advantage of Lanfear's focus on Rand to yeet both of them into the doorway while channeling, based on the knowledge that she learned inside, melting the doorway. We see in the Tanchico storyline that the other doorway melts at the same time, leaving them no exit.
And I agree with @markantonys that possibly the most effective stinger would be the reveal that Tuon is the DotNM, but if there is no Tuon in this season, we could have it be a Forsaken (Sammael) setting up shop in Tear, to set the scene for the upcoming season.
It is a lot more cliffhanger-y than our previous season finales and I'm sure that my thoughts on it will change as we get closer and learn more spoilers, but that is my wild speculation for this specific week!

WoT 207 ''Daes Dae'mar'': A detailed theory-analysis
DISCLAIMER :
This explanation is a detailed one. It is a deep dive into the season taking into account the point of view of all the relevant protagonists and antagonists of the game of houses that took place in Cairhien before our eyes in S2E07.Therefore, It's seemingly endless. If you don't enjoy reading or simply does not want to take the time to read, listen and watch all of it. You can check the following links to find the initial (shorter and less detailed, also outdated but still relevant) version of this explanation:
Tumblr media
FOREWORD :
Excuse any eye piercing mistakes I might make or clunky phrasings you might notice, I'm French and ADHD's a bitch.
I've seen a lot of confusion about how Lan figured out about Moiraine. So, I analysed his POV throughout the season and those of the relevant characters in all of this so that it's clear for everyone as understanding part 1 is the central and fundmental part of this theory. It would be best for everyone, if there was no confusion.
PS: THE SCENES ARE IN HYPERLINKS FORMS BECAUSE I CAN'T PUT MOST THAN 1 VID PER POST, also forget about the backlinks. I forgot that the url would change if I went back to the different scenes after posting so that it'll stay like this but they won't work. ( no even sure they'll be necessary, i added them in case it was, so it'ss not an issue)
Let's theorise now, shall we ?
Part 1. Lan's and other relevant characters point of views throughout the season
E01 : A taste of Solitude
Here, his point of view is not important as it's mostly about how the bond being severed for the last 6 months affected him. What we can still point out from this episode is that at the beginning, Moiraine finally understands what the broken piece of Cuendillar at the Eye of The World meant. She understand thanks to the poem that was written on the back of the one that Bayle had, that all this time Ishamael was freed not defeated.
And that, at the end, when she first tried to leave without Lan, they ended up getting hurt and almost dying then getting rescued from the Fades who were following Bayle Domon by Verin and Tomas. ( (educated guess thanks to E08)Lanfear used him to get to Mo trough the fades, Moiraine was supposed to die before she had the chance to intervene.)
E02 : Strangers and Friends
After the Fades attack, Moiraine and Lan have been healed.
She's cold and leaving for the "docks", Verin tells her that Adeleas and her will accompany her and suggests that she goes to the White Tower first. She agrees. Later, at night, seated around a campfire listening to Verin, Adeleas and Tomas reminisce about their youth, Lan and Moiraine gets to do the same and remembers the first time they met each other. Sometime after, it's time for them to say goodbye and go their separate ways. Lan, while Moiraine is distracted, searches her saddle in which he finds a worn out piece of paper that is laced into what appears to be a thin thread of leather, before he can take a look at it, Moiraine comes back and he hides his findings in his cloak. They talk.
"I should have sensed the Fades were coming. I should have… I'm sorry. "
"Do you know when I actually decided you'd be my Warder?"
[…]
"You'll go to the Tower and I'll continue alone."
[…]
"We didn't defeat the Dark One, we set his strongest lieutenant free. The Forsaken are 3000 years old. They're the strongest channelers that ever lived, and Ishamael may be waking the others. What they can do with the One Power make the Aes Sedai look like tavern magicians conjuring birds from their sleeves. I mean, he cut me off with a flick of his wrist."
"But it takes eight Aes Sedai to cut someone off. Alone, he couldn't, no matter how…"
"You have no conception of the power they wield. "
"Well, then tell me.You and I walk this path together. […]"
"We've never walked this path together. You've never seen the forest for the trees because I have never shown it to you."
"You can't push me away."
"Rand's alive."
"No. You said he was dead."
"You assumed."
[…]
"I took an oath to defend you. "
"And without the bond, you're unable to fulfil that oath."
"I'm still your Warder.""
"No, you failed me.""
[…]
"I am not letting you walk away from me again."
"I know. Alanna will see you to the Tower. I'll have her take your bond by force if I must."
Lan from his last conversation with Moiraine before Siuan, Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon becomes relevant factors learns that :
He had been chosen as her warder because she thought "he'll ultimately will be fine if I die"
She wants to leaves him behind again
They did not defeat the Dark One at the Eye but only made things worse by releasing his strongest lieutenant, a forsaken: Ishamael a.k.a Ishy.
Ishamael is most likely than not on a quest to release the other ones.
The forsaken are so much more stronger than the Aes Sedai that the difference is hilarious to think about.
Ishy apparently stilled her by himself.
Mo's betrayed his trust for the last 6 months by lying the Aes Sedai way ( purposefully misleading him) about Rand's death.
She thinks that he failed her and isn't her warder anymore.
She never thought of him as her equal.
She'd betray his trust again by letting Alanna take his bond by force (violate him) so that he'd let her leave alone on her suicide mission.
E03: What Might Be
This episode is unusable as Lan only appears as a part of Nynaeve's trial in the arches. However, we can still count the day or days passing in this episode to try and know how long it's been since Moiraine and Lan have been separated.
I've found that it's only been a day since they left each other by the end of episode 3.
E04: Daughter of the Night
When we first see Lan again since he's been forced to leave with Alanna, He's already been 2 days and 1 night away from Moiraine. This episode will be the 3rd day and 2nd night.
During the day, he's with Alanna and instead of heading straight back for the Tower they pay a visit to Alanna's family.
He eats with them ( lunch ) then he leaves the table to go take a piss, he expected Maksim or Ihvon as before but this time it's Alanna that came to see him. They talk.
[…]
"a warm memory. Something worth living for. And at that point… "
"So we're going to skip all of that.,I don't think you're gonna kill yourself. Your bond wasn't ripped from you. She took it. So have you decided what you're going to do now?"
"Have I worn out my welcome? "
"The three of us, we are going back to the Tower tomorrow. Will you come with us?"
[…]
"I wish you could've known Moiraine before. "
"Before what? "
"Something happened to her. About years ago now. A year or two before she bonded you. One day she was simply… changed. The way water becomes ice, and you look at it and wonder how it was ever water before. "
"Was she happier, then?"
"I don't know. I don't know if she's ever been happy. "
Later during the day, in the afternoon, he talks with Maksim.
[…]
"Moiraine has left the bond masked for… the last six months or so."
"I thought I was the only Warder who could go that long. When Alanna first bonded me, it was miserable for everyone. I didn't like having an audience in my head, and she didn't like the show. So, the three of us talked it through, and we decided that she would mask her bond with me. Except in battle. And bed."
"Does the Tower know about this? "
"Have you ever known a marriage that is exactly the same as another? I know the others will tell you…you can't go back to Moiraine. But I'm proof that you can. If you want to."
And finally, at night he talks with Ihvon.
[…]
"It's something she said. You keep saying it to yourself over and over. A thousand cuts for her one. People don't understand that we quiet ones… are quiet because the conversation's always… playing out in our own heads."
"She said that, all these years… Mm…she never considered me an equal. "
"Of course not. We are not their equals, Lan. We're not supposed to be. An Aes Sedai can… call down lightning, raise mountains. The rest of the world only sees their power. We see their weakness. We remind them that they are not gods."
"I wouldn't think that… Alanna needed a reminder."
"Yeah, well, she knows we want the same thing as her. "
"What's that? "
"The triumph of the Light over the Dark. And dessert after. "
"What about Moiraine? What does she want? "
"Maybe that's the problem. I don't think I know anymore. "
While they're talking, Maksim who was meditating with them but left them alone before they started talking, found the old and worn out piece of paper that Lan previously took from Moiraine. He shows it to Alanna, who reads it and immediately understand what it could mean about Lan and maybe Moiraine too. Is he a dark friend ? Are they dark friends ? Later during the night, while Lan is asleep, Ihvon joins them and they talk it out, outside the house, Ihvon then reads it and they figure out that it's a prophecy in the Old Tongue about a forsaken, specifically about the Daughter of the Night, Lanfear. They're not sure of what to think yet, but they now suspect Lan.
E05: Damane
In this episode we do not follow Lan, Alanna, Ihvon or Maksim. There's is no point of view for them while they're travelling together but we can add 2 nights and a day to the counter. It's been 4 days and 4 nights away from Moiraine and as many days and nights spent with Alanna and her warders for Lan. However, we do get Verin's point of view.
After just arriving at the Tower, she asked after Nynaeve and Egwene but it turned out that they were nowhere to be found. Not in their rooms, not doing chores or in class and somehow, it was the same for the Daughter-heir of Andor, Elayne. They seemed to have disappeared so she went to see Sheriam Sedai, the current Mistress of Novices to try and understand where they could have vanished.
[…]
"Why, Verin Sedai. I was unaware you'd be visiting us."
[…]
"Uh, what can I do for you, Sister?"
"I was hoping to have a word with two of the girls in your care, Egwene al'Vere and Nynaeve al'Meara. Do you know where I might find them?"
"Uh, they are likely busy doing their chores. "
"In fact, they aren't. Nor are they in their class, nor in their rooms. And, um, also the Daughter-Heir of Andor is nowhere to be found."
"Is it possible they may have left Tower grounds?"
"The Daughter-Heir? It's worth taking a look, don't you think? "
"Oh. Uh… Oh, goodness, yes. Here it is. A visit to Elayne's home in Caemlyn. The three were signed out just the other day."
"That seems worth remembering. "
"It is. I, um…I don't know how it slipped my mind, frankly."
"It's quite unusual".
"That it is."
[…]
"Oh, yeah, I have another question for you. I was in the library asking after a book, Meditations on the Kindling Flame? Oh, yes, I've been meaning to return it. It's in my room, actually. Do you need it? Just for a short passage on the Amyrlin Tetsuan, uh… if you could. "
Verin went to the library before going to Sheriam and asks Nomy and Yassica about the "new very powerful Novices".
We don't actually see this happening, but since she went to the tower knowing about Moiraine's adopted kids and particularly about Rand, she must have wanted to meet them as opposed to being able to meet the Dragon Reborn himself ( being bothered by her insatiable curiosity again). She learns that they are nowhere to be found, knowing what link they might have with the Dragon Reborn, she finds suspicious that just after Moiraine got attacked by 3 Fades and went looking for the Dragon Reborn, again, that her girls would appear to have left tower grounds with no one knowing about their departure. With these information in mind, before going to see Sheriam, she takes some precaution to ensure that she discovers the whole truth if for some reason Sheriam was not revealing it all. Knowing all of this, we can deduce that she had the following course of action:
Go to the Library and asks her fellow trusted brown sisters about the girls, after she tells her that it seems like they're not in the tower anymore, She asks them to help if she suspects that Sheriam, might not be telling her the whole truth during their talk.
ask about a book she borrowed and did not return yet, so that they can use it's mention as a signal and use it as a diversion (Meditation on the Kindling Flame).
Look for Ny, Eggy and Elayne
Ask and look around for them
Go to Sheriam and ask about the girls disappearance and determine whether it would be wise to use the backup plan.
Signal to Yassica that they're following the plan, that their conversation is coming to an end and that they'll soon get out of her study.
Distract Sheriam long enough so that Yassica retrieves all of the supposedly useful information.
Meet Yassica to talk about her findings.
Get the names of every Aes Sedai who left the tower in the last few days because it seems that a weave of compulsion was used on Sheriam (so Black Ajah).
Get the prophecies about the DR for Moiraine ? (not sure that she ever did)
Liandrin cross examination
Liandrin successfully fails
[…]
"I, um, I thought you were in Jurene hunting a young man suspected of channeling. "
"Luckily it was nothing."
"Hmm. "
"But… I did… bring back some white asparagus. If you'd like some. It's a delicacy from the village. You can only… "
"Procure them there and only at this time of year. "
"Yes."
[…]
"That's strange. Novices shouldn't be allowed to… "
"Well, they've, uh… they've gone to a name day ceremony in Caemlyn. "
"I'd heard on the road back that a royal envoy going to Caemlyn was attacked south of here. "
"By whom?"
"Uh, a soldier at the inn. He said it was… bandits or Whitecloaks. But if the girls were with them… Come, we must talk to the Keeper immediately. Those girls are worth more than gold itself. Hurry."
Even though her suspicions about Liandrin are at an all time high, I think that she did go with her to go "talk to the Keeper". It's the last time we see her before Cairhien.
E06: Eyes Without Pity
It's been 4 days and 4 nights, Moiraine got to Rand the night before and finally separated him from Lanfear. Defeated and her plans for the Dragon Reborn interrupted.
MOIRANE AND RAND
[…]
Lanfear: "But, if you actually want to work with me… I have one condition. "
Moiraine: "What did she say?"
"I have to go."
"Where? Did she tell you where… "
"No. Away from you. That was her condition. If she sees us together again, she'll kill you".
Lanfear, goes to Liandrin who she's been prying on in the World of Dreams. They talk.
[…]
"Ishamael said he'd freed you, but I…"
"Tell me, why do you work for him? For Ishamael? You hate men. With one exception, it seems."
[…]
"Men hurt us… betray us, and still, we love them. You swore your oaths to keep him alive, but this is not life. "
"I know. "
"He's holding you back. The last tie to the girl you used to be. The girl who was beaten and starved, and forced to marry before she bled. "
"I know. "
"And that's why I'm here, to do what you can't. A gift only one woman can give to another."
[…]
"You swore your oaths to the Dark, not to Ishamael. You cannot take them back. It's impossible. But there are many paths to walk through the night."
(optional but recommended) : Torashi's thoughts about Lanfear and Liandrin
Liandrin ends up switching sides at the end of this conversation. She will now aid Lanfear, not Ishy and Lanfear gives her the task of killing Moiraine (it's the 2nd assassination attempt). She needs to get rid of her but can't kill her herself because she wants Rand to trust her and believe in her and her cause.
Meanwhile, Moiraine is in Cairhien with Rand and at some point she attempts to write a letter in response to her "Dearest Siuan" to update her on the situation and finally tell her the truth about being stilled but she can't. At least, not yet. Only, she did not expect Lan to overtake her.
Lan's point of view (during night 4)
It's night, Lan, Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon are travelling. We don't know where exactly they're going but we can expect them to be going towards the Tower as it was what was planned. All this time spent with them, Lan has been pondering on the idea, that, maybe, Moiraine, really is not stilled but something else. He does not know what but he needs to at least dissipate his doubts. On the other side, Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon still suspects Lan of being a Dark Friend. During their trip, they purposefully choose to stop at a Forsaken temple to observe his behavior and judge him. Lan having these doubts in the back of his mind, wants to get to the Amyrlin seat, Siuan Sanche, who happens to be Moiraine's secret wife. He needs more information on the forsaken and needs to know where to find Siuan, so that she can help him dissipate his doubts ( he understands the old tongue- he understood what Ihvon meant by "Blood calls blood") and help him find how to help Moiraine.
Alanna : "Here's as good a place to stop as any. I'm dying for some tea."
Lan: "This is a temple to the Forsaken. Interesting choice."
Maksim: "Shelter's shelter. "
Lan: "We'll need the Amyrlin's permission for me to return to the Tower. Moiraine's banishment applies to me until our bond is formally removed from Tower records."
Alanna: "The Amyrlin won't be back for another few days yet. She's returning from a visit to Caemlyn."
Lan: "Forsaken. Do you believe they had powers the Aes Sedai have lost? Weaves this Age has forgotten?"
Ihvon: "They were the generals of the Dark One's army. The things they did, our Aes Sedai would never even consider."
Alanna: "What you're willing to do changes depending on what you're faced with."
[sometime later Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon are supposed to be distracted, having fun in their tent. Lan attempts to leave but they were watching him all along. He's cornerded by Ihvon and Maksim then trapped in the One Power by Alanna.]
Maksim : "It's rude to leave while your friends are sleeping."
Ihvon: "Ruder still to use your weapon against them."
Lan: "I don't want to fight you. "
Maksim: Rejection's a relatively new experience. You'll have to forgive me for asking, but… where are you going, old friend?
Lan : That is my business.
[…]
Alanna: "The Amyrlin did not banish you from Tar Valon. You know that. You wanted me to tell you where she is. Why?"
Lan: "I need to find her."
Alanna: "What do you want from Siuan Sanche ?"
Alanna: "You will tell us the truth, al'Lan Mandragoran. We will kill you were you stand if you don't."
Lan: "We found the Dragon Reborn."
[Lan goes to Siuan to tell her the truth about her wife, so that she can help him check whether he was right to doubt a forsaken's ability to still someone alone and help her.]
Tumblr media
It's the last time we see them before the new day starts. They had all night to talk to each other, research (if needed) and come up with a plan.
DURING DAY 5
-MORNING
Lan is preventing Rand from leaving to go to Falme, alone, without Moiraine. He's accompanied by Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon.
Moiraine sends Jonas to give a letter to a trusted sister of hers of the Blue Ajah so that she can "get it where it needs to go" (To Siuan I suppose). She apologises to Barthy and he hugs her, they're interrupted by Anvaere.
"The Amyrlin Seat is here, in Cairhien, with 14 Aes Sedai, and she's demanded an audience with you."
Liandrin's in Cairhien, thanks to her, we know that Siuan summoned them without disclosing why.
"The last time the Amyrlin Seat called 14 sisters to meet with her in Cairhien, we installed a new king on the Sun Throne."
"Well, maybe this Amyrlin is a little more frivolous daughter."
"Hmm. "
"We'll have to wait and see."
In this part, we learned that :
Lan was suspicious from the moment that he learned how Moiraine got stilled by Ishy.
He doubted what his next step should be and thanks to Ihvon and Maksim, he knew that he had to get back and COULD go back to Moiraine.
He needed to get to Siuan before so that she could help him get back to Moraine and check whether he could have been right or not about her not being stilled.
He told Alanna about Rand and never disclosed that Moiraine could not channel or that Siuan and her were working together or that they are lovers.
He went to see Siuan, they talked and planned an intervention to save Moiraine from herself.
Lanfear used Domon to get to Moiraine trough the fades to kill her before she could do anything about Rand. (educated guess when informed by E08)
Lanfear rallied Liandrin to her cause and tasked her to take care of Moiraine for her. (educated guess when informed by E08)
Verin now knows about the dragon and is going to the Tower to look for prophecies about the dragon for Moiraine.
Verin suspected Liandrin of being Black Ajah and of being able to use the weave of compulsion and left with her to "go see the keeper"
Siuan, Lan, Alanna, Ihvon and Maksim went to Cairhien
Siuan summoned 14 Aes Sedai there but did not disclose the reason why and demanded an audience with Moiraine
Lan prevented Rand from leaving without Moiraine for Falme accompanied by Alanna, Ihvon and Maksim.
Part 2. Liuan : Their off screen talk
Thanks to part 1, we can be assured that Siuan was the one who showed up at Cairhien and not the Amyrlin Seat. It was about Moiraine not the mission or Rand. They were secondary motives and afterthoughts. All that mattered when she saw Lan, was Moiraine. It would have been five days since she answered to Moiraine from their previous letter and she still did not have an answer, so she was already worried. In E06, when Moiraine attempts to write to Siuan before Barthy interrups her. It either was the first letter from E01 or a follow up one that Siuan sent out of worry. Lan showing up alone, probably was horrifying. As for Lan, is sole purpose and worry from the night Moiraine got "stilled" and they lost their bond was to help Moiraine, support her, be close to her again. Basically as he said:
Moiraine: "I don't know what you think you'll gain from this."
Lan: "Hopefully, everything we've lost."
Now onto the talk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

What we can deduce from E07 and the previous episodes we just deep dived into is that Lan told her more than she had just been stilled. He confirms that he went to Siuan doubtful near the end of episode 7 when he says :
"It never made sense to me, Moiraine. What you're feeling? Ishamael didn't still you. Not even a Forsaken could do that alone. It is a shield that he's tied off, which means… "
scene
He just told her what he tried to say from E02 (except this time he knows what it is if not stilling and how to fix it), but she wouldn't listen to him.
scene
So, between Liuan this is what he must have said:
Siuan, At the eye of the world, Moiraine actually fought a forsaken, he was not defeated.
She was mistaken, a few days ago she realised that we released him. We were wrong, we,lost at the eye of the world.
She's lost her ability to touch the source but she said that Ishamael stilled her alone. I don't think she's been stilled, Verin Sedai said that most stilled women ended up dying and that her behavior was not aligning with what's usually expected. After she told me that he stilled her alone I strongly doubted that she really was, I thought maybe it was something else, I told her but she brushed me off. Are they really that strong ? Can a forsaken really still someone alone ?
She's been casting me out for the last six months so I only learned about all of it 4 nights ago when she left me behind to go find Rand. He wasn't with us, she let me assume he died and let him leave.
She forced me to stay back with Alanna Sedai and her warders by threatening me of letting her take my bond by force. They were to take me back to the tower but before Moiraine left me I took a poem she had in her saddle, it was about Lanfear. Ishamael released her, Alanna Sedai found it and cornered me earlier as I was trying to get to you to confront me about it. She wouldn't let me go, she thought that I was to harm you and a dark friend, she was ready to kill me so I had to tell her about the dragon reborn so that she'd let me go.
Lan told her and knew everything she needed to know to be able to help her wife as she's always been doing. Only, this time, Moiraine would have to stay out of the loop. She's emotionally unstable and is not in a place where she could allow herself to think of such a possibility anymore, giving her hope for no reason wouldn't make for anything good.
optional but recommended : Thoughts about why Liuan decided to keep Moiraine out of the loop
We now wonder, what did they plan ?
Part 3. Liuan : The Plan
Before diving into this part, we need to know what might have happened between them beside their talk.
What can we deduce happened ?
Lan tells her everything and Siuan comes up with the plan and tells him what he'll have to do and they'll obviously use Rand as a pretext (well, Siuan will).
(I used to think that she could have not know as soon as he'd tell her since Moiraine herself did not think that a Forsaken wouldn't be able to do that but after further research and taking into account the fact that Lan immediately suspected it and that Moiraine judgement was clouded by her emotions, I now think that Siuan knew as soon as he told her. Anyway, whether she needed to check or not they had their plan which was not about the dragon in case you forgot but about Moiraine.)
Now, onto the discussed plan:
Siuan explains :
Lan you'll :
Get the boy, try to make him understand that he'll be fine but do not tell him the truth, we can't trust that he won't talk to Moiraine or that nobody will spy on you. I'll meet him and try and do the same and use our meeting as my main motive for coming to Cairhien, also, we'll need him to unshield her as I can't see Saidin (men half of the One power).
You'll check with Logain to know if we were right about her being shielded, we have to be sure before attempting anything.
Check if she ever wanted to kill herself if you have the chance.
Everything may not go as planned so be ready not to reveal that there's more than me meeting the boy and follow along with whatever I do.
This is what you'll have to do to un-shield her if we were right
If we get attacked you'll take her there. This will be our escape route in case we ever need it.
As for Alanna and her warders they'll be on the look out.
Most importantly, keep her safe, be careful and stand by her.
Siuan
I'll
Summon 14 Aes sedais and take them with me to Cairhien since we have 2 Forsaken on the loose trying to get him, they'll be useful in case we get attacked.
Meet and talk to Moiraine and distract her from what you'll be doing.
Meet the boy and try to make him understand that i'm on his side.
Alanna, Maksim and Ihvon
Look out for the Forsaken
Alert

Goals
The goal is to help Moiraine and that is it, probably discuss their next course of action regarding the plan since she might be stilled (which she can do with no problem since she doesn't know for sure that she isn't). As i've stated before, Rand and the mission in this case were the after thoughts as it is Siuan that decided to go to Cairhien and not the Amyrlin Seat.
Moiraine: "Siuan said you were leaving. Where were you going? "
Tumblr media
(While they're the same person, they are not the same characters, Siuan isn't the Amyrlin Seat and the Amyrlin Seat is not Siuan but only a part of her, I thought the show made it clear enough but I'm reminding you all again anyway as i've seen that a lot (even other theorist and siuaraine shippers) seems to think that Siuan really went to Cairhien to take Rand away from Mo, cage him and stuff as if they did not show us that it simply was not how it worked between them and that she simply was not her position at all. Most misunderstood and underappreciated character sincerely (those who voted Hopper, i'm looking at y'all). Anyway, SHE IS NOT THE AMYRLIN SEAT AND THE AMYRLIN SEAT IS NOT SIUAN BUT ONLY A PART OF HER.)
So, Siuan shielding and putting Rand in a cell was improvised as he was leaving without Moiraine knowing and she needed him to be around anyway.
Daes dae'Mar : The Game of Houses, Liuan's plan put into practice
House Sanche-Mandragoran
Siuaraine meeting in the Sun Palace
Goals :
Meet and talk to Moiraine and distract her from what Lan will be doing.
Use meeting Rand as her main motive for coming to Cairhien.
[MOIRAINE] Mother. [SIUAN] Leave us, Daughter. She's no threat to me. [LEANE] I'll be right outside, Mother. [SIUAN] Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you tell me you'd been stilled? Six months of letters, Moiraine. And not one word about this…this violation. [MOIRAINE] Well, what else did Lan tell you?
[MOIRAINE] That you threatened to let Alanna take his bond without his permission. You know he told her. That you found the Dragon. (half truth and deflection, she knew about the forsaken and talks about it later,)
[MOIRAINE] Why are you here, Siuan?
[SIUAN] I've let you carry this burden for years, love. You've given everything for it. From here on out, I row beside you. ( half truth, because she also was there to help Lan check her powers)
Moiraine: [SCOFFS] (not convinced)[gets hypnotised by Siuan's touch]
[SIUAN] It's time I met Rand al'Thor. (deflection)
scene
Lan takes Rand and prepare him to meet Siuan
Goals:
Prepare him to meet Siuan :
make him understand without telling him the truth that Siuan is on his side. Even though she's the Amyrlin. ( for the reason mentioned before but also, it's Cairhien)
[LAN] Tuck in your shirt. [RAND] What does the Amyrlin Seat want from me? Is this a trial? I saw what she did to the last man who called himself Dragon. (scared) [LAN] Is that why you ran from the Eye of the World? Why you hid here? (wonders why he left and questions if it was because he was afraid about sharing Logain's fate) [RAND] I left to protect the people I love. (angrily answers, offended by the assumption) [LAN] Don't be so selfish. You were born to protect this world. Every person in it. Not just the ones you love. (reminds him of his responsabilities as the Dragon Reborn)
Listen to me. The Amyrlin's a smart woman. She's a good woman. (reassures him about Siuan) And she comes from humbler beginnings than you. (she's not what she seems) [RAND] Does Moiraine know you're doing this? (asks about the only Aes Sedai he kind of trust) [LAN] There's one rule above all others for being a man. Whatever comes, you face it on your feet. ( ignores and teach him what his answer should be to the fear he's currently feeling)
Put this on. Give me your blade.
Heron Dips the Wing. You've been learning sword forms. (proud uncle moment) [RAND] I've learned a couple of things. [LAN] Keep the sword. (let him keep his sword as he is still stressed)
If the Amyrlin's afraid of you, it won't be for a sword. (build his confidence up)
If you're going to use one of the forms, use Cat Crosses the Courtyard, keep your back straight, every muscle loose. As if hung from a wire at the top of your head. (teaching moment)
Go. The Amyrlin waits.
scene
Siuan meets Rand while Mo'an are talking
[RAND] As you've summoned me, Mother, so I've come. I stand ready. [SIUAN] Do you now, boy? Lan has prepared you, I see. What else did he tell you? [RAND] That you aren't exactly what you seem. [SIUAN] Most people are not. In this world, it is wise to guard your truths, but not us. Not today. (she won't lie, since she can't but she's going to aes sedai her way out of his questions not to reveal blatlantly that she's on his side) I have questions for you. Answer truthfully.
[LATER]
[RAND] And then what? [SIUAN] You say you've been careful. How many times have you channeled? [RAND] Not many. Not deliberately. [SIUAN] You will continue to channel, as sure as roe makes fish. You can't help it. And if you don't learn to control it, you won't live long enough to go mad. (INFODUMP) [RAND] What kind of a choice is that? (when did she give him a choice exactly, please ?), (ignored question) Dying or going mad and killing everyone I love? (ignored) What if I'm tired of being a spoke in the Wheel? (acknowledged) [SIUAN] You're not a spoke, boy. You are the water that turns the Wheel itself or dashes it to pieces. (answers)
Do you know what Tower law says the Amyrlin must do if she finds the Dragon Reborn? (question and attemps at making him understand) [RAND] Gentle him? [SIUAN] Gentle him? No. How do you fight the Dark One without the One Power?
Some of my Red daughters would want that, I suppose, but… (beware of the reds basically) we are meant to cage you. (teaching, infodumping)
Keep you shielded, channeling only when we want, what we want. And when we go to fight the Last Battle, you will be the greatest weapon in our arsenal. But not our general.
This is not a conversation. (yes it is) You already made your decision. (indeed, 20 years ago dumbass) You made it before you ever met me. (how do you know? she made it looking in your other mom eyes the day you were born and ruined their retirement plans, BEHAVE RAND)
I won't live in your cage. (did she say SHE, would cage you or that the Amyrlin was MEANT to cage you ? she infodumped, you stupid boy)
(she had no other choice but to shield him as he was getting hostile, then Mother got mad, i can't blame her I would have too (actually I did), because how can you be so dense, mistaken and dumb, like why would you think you'd be able to do anything against the Amyrlin Seat, when you know nothing about channeling- je souffle (I sigh), je souffle, je souffle. Il fatigue(he tires).)
scene
Six months you've known what you are, and… you've learned nothing.
Six months! Huh?
She taught you nothing. (she's mad, and it takes a lot to get her to snap according to New spring so leave my girl alone, Mo took the decision alone, said nothing and did teach him nothing also from an objective stand point, she's not necessarily talking about chanelling. She's been over their whole discussion since he pulled a Nynaeve while asking about being tired of being a spoke or whatever )
A single Aes Sedai can handle you like baitfish. ( just an astute and accurate observation made with an iconic fish metaphor)
[SIGHS] (me too)
We would've been so much better off if you were a girl. (i'm sorry not sorry to the men who got butt hurt by this comment but she's right, had it been possible it would have been so much better and it's an objective truth, she basically stated a fact so get over it)
scene
Mo'an talk during Rand and Siuan are talking
Goals:
Check if she ever wanted to kill herself ( symptoms of stilling basically)
Do not to reveal that there's more than Siuan meeting Rand
[MOIRAINE] I don't know what you think you'll gain from this. [LAN] Hopefully, everything we've lost. [MOIRAINE] Leave. I have nothing to say to you. [LAN] I have a question for you. And I hope someday you'll forgive me for asking it. ( a single question huh ?)
After you were stilled by Ishamael, has there been a time… in all these months when you thought about ending it? [MOIRAINE] killing myself?
I read the Tower records. (keep that in mind, take a mental or physical note.) There have only been two women in history who were cut off who didn't. Most did it within the year. [MOIRAINE] No, I didn't. (Rand & Moiraine getting offended by Lan's perfectly reasonable and logical assumption)
Not for one second.
Because I know that protecting Rand, guiding him, that is the only thing that matters. More than me, more than you. More than anything. [LAN] That's what I thought. (happy Lan)
Tumblr media
[MOIRAINE] And this whole thing you're doing with Siuan, it puts all of it… the Last Battle, the fate of the world… in jeopardy. (Yes, it's true but do I need to remind her "when have ever followed the rules?" or simply that these two never let her not take care of herself? WHY DID SHE EVEN EXPECT THEM TO CARE ABOUT THE WORLD IF SHE WASN'T FINE ? SUCH A DEPRESSED LOVABLE AND ANNOYING PUFFERFISH).
I apologise for my lack of professionalism,
Tumblr media
It will definitely happen again though, you've been warned.
Tumblr media
What isn't she telling me? (was not convinced by Siuan earlier, just hypnotised)
You have to trust someone at some point, Moiraine. You can't do this by yourself. You can't. And if it's not going to be me… then I thought it might at least be her. (deflect)
scene
Siuaraine, Mo'an, Liuan fight (+ red haired misbehaving toddler)
Goal:
distract Moiraine so that Lan can do his thing
improvised: shield rand and prevent him from leaving, as he's shown that he's ready to be hostile and harm, he's caged and to be kept shielded by Leane who knows nothing but that she has to shield him.
[SIUAN] Let them through. [MOIRAINE] Release him, Siuan. ( Mo, you don't even know what he did) Now. [SIUAN] No. We tried our way, Moiraine. -> true
And we nearly lost everything. -> true
The Tower's laws have stood for , 3000 years.-> infodumb
It's time we obeyed them. -> it was time from the moment they became accepted, it was already time in their hut when Moiraine was asking when did they EVER followed these rules. [LAN ] This is not what we agreed to. (true but he also remembered that bro was leaving alone when he found him and will stay quiet and follow along from now on)
[MOIRAINE] The Reds will gentle him.
[SIUAN] Not while I hold the Seat. -> true, even if she really wanted to follow the rules, she wouldn't let them.
[MOIRAINE] The Tower is filled with your enemies. -> true, she knows
You're this sure of your power? -> true, and siuan stays quiet because she can't Aes sedai her way out of this one
We each had a task, Siuan.
I was to find the Dragon Reborn. You were to get the Tower ready to support him. Or have you forgotten that day? -> something here snapped in her brain people, Moiraine angered her with this one and she loses her temper ( which is, AGAIN, hard to do according to New spring in case I needed to remind you)
[SIUAN]
Of course I have not forgotten.
But you were supposed to be with him, ready to shield him if he starts to go mad.
Yet here you are, stilled. (still isn't sure and it's what it appears to be so she can say it, and she is pissed)
You can't control him. -> true
You can't guide him. -> true
Can you imagine, Moiraine, if one of the Forsaken got their hands on him? (she gave herself away there, remember in the first meeting when I referenced this ? )
He's no more ready now than he was before you found him. -> true
You left the fate of the world to chance… -> true, she let him leave at the eye when she was not sure of what the fight they just "won" meant + she never told her that he left because she couldn't tell her why she let him leave and there was no other reason than she couldn't protect him anymore from the dark and himself and it was best if he laid low + it meant that telling, and admitting that she'd never touch the source again could be delayed
… for your pride. -> so yes but for those not agreeing with her statement there, we do not care, she just need to believe something to be able to say it. IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Tomorrow, when Queen Galldrian returns, we shall announce him as Dragon here in Cairhien… with Sisters by our side to show he is under our control. -> he's supposed to leave with Moiraine as soon as she's unshielded if they were right, no one knows about Rand but them and those who learned about it this season and it's one of the possible choice they could have made by actually having a conversation about what to do if Moiraine hadn't come in there after Lan told her to trust, ordering Siuan around, wanting to hear nothing else, when she didn't even know why he was shielded (he deserved the time out sincerely.)
Prepare him for what is to come.
I think she was saying this to both of them, and it had a double meaning.
Lan: Still on board, even though things got heated carry on with the plan, just lost my temper. ( would explain why the camera shows him and not Moiraine even though the whole conversation had been only between Siuaraine)
Mo and us: yeah i'm apparently ditching the plan we sacrificed 20 years for, and the one I came up with Lan, last night, without a discussion, just because i'm pissed after I told you her earlier that I was there to support you her. Yes, that is right, this is what is happening.
scene
Since there had been no objection, no attempt at bargaining or anything, just plain old silence. Siuan thought Moiraine had dropped the ball. She let her be, and Moiraine chose to stay with Rand. ( good because she'll still be distracted even though they're mad at each other right now) Had Moiraine been imprisoned too, she wouldn't have been allowed to be in the same cell, and Siuan would have disclosed that she had been stilled to Leane but she did not. Siuan trusted her, still, even though they just had a fight about their kid and knew that she had been Aes sedaying her way out of transparency for months. So,to her everything was mostly going according to plan but then Rand happened and introduced another player to the game that was currently unfolding before our innocent, untrained eyes and unaware minds.
House Lanfear- Al'Thor
Goals:
Get rid of Moiraine
Get Rand to Falme alone
[RAND] What is happening to me? [MOIRAINE] You've been shielded from the One Power. [RAND] Um… it feels… [MOIRAINE] As if you've lost everything you ever were and everything you could possibly be. Don't worry, it's temporary. She has to channel to keep the shield in place, but when it drops, you'll feel yourself again. [MOIRAINE] Siuan said you were leaving. (off-screen first meeting)
Where were you going? [RAND] Falme. Egwene is there. Ishamael has her. [MOIRAINE] Lanfear showed you this in the dream world? [RAND] I know they want me to go there. But why Falme, of all places? [MOIRAINE] The Dragon is supposed to proclaim himself there. "Bannered 'cross the sky in fire." [RAND] They want everyone to know who I am before they try to kill me. If they need me in Falme, then they certainly don't want me being held prisoner by the Amyrlin Seat.
He happened, and Moiraine broke Siuan's trust there once again by indulging in it.
As Justine Juel Gillmer( S1E06 and S2E07 writer) pointed out and explained : Moiraine feels like she lost Rand to Lanfear, operates without a clear path to follow for the first time and is all alone. She focuses only on Rand, nothing else matters (as i've pointed before myself too, during Mo'an's talk). (in the bonus)
So, she does nothing else than what she felt she could do : She stays by his side and tries to win him back. She says nothing, let him and indulges in his tendency to call on Lanfear (the dark) for help, thinking that she would be able to outsmart her even though she knows that she wouldn't have been able to see their interaction in the world of dreams, she trust Rand to give her all of the information that she'd need to know if something was wrong and Rand ends up asking Lanfear. A fair price to pay to gain some of his trust back: trusting each other and only one another and further harming the trust Lanfear made sure they would build while she was away and unaware. Without realising it, she built trust in one of her relationship, while harming one of hers too.
She breaks the trust that Siuan chose to still have in her, even though she knew that she was not in the right head space right now because of the shield, by actually trying to escape when she had dropped the ball earlier.
scene
Meanwhile, Liandrin is working on fulfilling the mission she has been given by Lanfear in episode 6. […]
[LIANDRIN] I remember her at that age. You have the look of her, you know. [BARTHANES] Why are you here, Aes Sedai? [LIANDRIN] To deliver an order. (from Lanfear) [BARTHY] What does our master ask of me? ( he assumed it was from Ishy or the DO) [LIANDRIN] Remove her from the board. [BARTHY] She is my aunt. [LIANDRIN] Exactly. Even she will be unprepared for this. Do it today. She's being held in a cell in the palace. (Lanfear or you got this one wrong Liandrin, she's in there voluntarily.)Oh. And if your mother suspects anything… take care of her, too.
scene
Meanwhile House Lanfear-Al'Thor,
[LANFEAR] You didn't even make it out of the city. ( she knew already) [RAND] I need your help. I'm in a cell in the Sun Palace. The Amyrlin's holding me. [LANFEAR] I know. [RAND] Can you get me out? [LANFEAR] Hmm. Isn't Moiraine with you? Surely she could do something. [RAND] Maybe she will. Maybe I won't need you. [LANFEAR] Oh, I do like it when you try to manipulate me. [RAND] Can you get me out or not, Lanfear?
scene
On the other side,
House Sanche-Mandragoran
Goals:
check with Logain to know if they were right about her being shielded, They have to be sure before attempting anything.
Alanna and her warders will be on the look out.
[ALANNA] Through there. What did he say? Does the Daughter of the Night walk in our world? [MAKSIM] Forsaken. Dragon Reborn. I miss the farm, Alanna. I even miss your cousins. [ALANNA] Come now. Did you expect we would fight the Last Battle against an army of kittens?
[LOGAIN] I would offer you a match, but.. stones is a gentleman's game. Tell your master that I'm still waiting for her to keep her promise. Or you can just run me through with your blade now, save her the trouble. [LAN] I can do better than that. You can see male weaves. What do you see when you look at Moiraine? [LOGAIN] A desperate, lonely woman who has given her life to a cause… beyond her understanding. [LAN] A half a year in an asylum, and you're a madman still. [LOGAIN] Madness is expecting a straight answer from the man you helped lock away. There are weaves on her. From a man. Thousands of strands pulled together, held in place, but nothing being channeled into them. [LAN] How is that possible? [LOGAIN] I don't know, it's just like…

Meanwhile House Sanche- Mandragoran,
[ALANNA] There's a fIre. In the Foregate. [LOGAIN] The key. [LAN] You think I've forgotten what you did to Kerene and Stepin? You will get this key when they take you back to the White Tower. There are two Brown Sisters that are desperate to study a man who can channel.
[LAN] Go. (to Moiraine) [LANFEAR] 3000 years pass and I'm back to this.

Save herself

[BARTHANES] You're sure my aunt's alone? [SERVANT] As you asked, my lord. And a sedative in her tea. She should be asleep already. [BARTHY]] Good. [SERVANT] Would you like me to open it, Your Grace? [ANVAERE] I didn't think you would do it. [BARTHY] Mother. No. No! No! No. [ANVAERE] Why? In Light's name, why? [BARTHANES] I did it for us. I did it for you, Mother. For our family name. Why do you think that we've risen so far so fast, Mother? I am to be king. And you would throw it all away for what? For-for her? Mother, Moiraine doesn't care about you. She trust no one. She cares about no one. She… She will leave this place, and she will not give us a second thought. [ANVAERE] I know. But there are two things my sister understands better than anyone. The difference between right and wrong, and how much harder it is sometimes to do what is right. [BARTHY] Mother. Mother, please. Mother, please. You can't tell the queen. You can't tell anybody. [BADASS, HEROIC ANVAERE] I already have. [CRYING BARTHY] Mother. Mother. Mother! No! Mother! Mother!

House Lanfear-Al'thor
Goals:
release Rand while Lanfear's being the perfect diversion
give him the map leading to the Waygate.
[VERIN] The city's burning. The Amyrlin requires your strength to protect Cairhien. [LEANE] I've been told to watch the boy. [VERIN] This is an order, Leane Sedai. (from Liandrin or Lanfear?) I'll take his shield. [LEANE] Don't let her get close to you. (still doesn't know Mo is "stilled") [MOIRAINE] You are very clever with your words, Sister. (did not realise that she couldn't have known she'd need help) [VERIN] The Dragon Reborn. I'd say you've spent long enough in Cairhien, wouldn't you?
There's a Waygate hidden in the city. (how did she know she'd need to plan for this from the morning she arrived in Cairhien ? Lanfear or Liandrin but really just Lanfear has if not herself she'd give the order trough Liandrin) [MOIRAINE] That's just a rumor. [VERIN] With a grain of truth. An Ogier Stedding once stood in the inner city center. Cairhien families built right over it. Here. [VERIN] Where will you take him? [MOIRAINE] Falme. Toman Head. [VERIN] "Above Toman's Head shall he proclaim himself bannered 'cross the sky in fire." ( here's the reason you might be looking for if not for compulsion by Liandrin when she followed her to "go see the keeper") You plan to have him declare himself the Dragon Reborn. The Wheel weaves.
scene
House Sanche-Mandragoran
Goals:
If we get attacked you'll take her there. This will be our escape route in case we ever need it.
Alanna: Backup
[LAN] Good work. We'll take him from here to the Waygate. ( did not take the map or hear them speak, Verin and Thomas followed as he had the same destination than the one they had planned for Rand) Just make sure that we're not followed. [ALANNA] You're not alone in this any longer, Sister. But you need to hurry. This city is not safe. I hope you're worth this, boy. Light be with you. [LAN] Let's go.
sceane
Meanwhile, Siuan isn't worried about the dragon reborn being protected by a single abled Aes Sedai when she knows that it probably is one of the Forsaken, she carries out her duty as Aes Sedai and Amyrlin Seat with the utmost calm. She even seemed bored of it for a second. Then again, in the utmost calm and collected manner, she sees the only Aes Sedai supposed to be shielding the boy and doesn't pannick and order that they rush there and find him, NO, she calmly ask who's shielding her son and it's only when she hears Verin's name that she's not okay anymore, suddenly she needs time to process what she just heard and then leave in a rush.
[SIUAN] Link with me. [LEANE] I'm here, Mother. [SIUAN] Who's shielding the boy? [LEANE] Verin Sedai. You… you sent her. [SIUAN] Lead your Sisters and heal the injured. That boy must not leave the city. -> something is wrong I have enemies I did not expect and doubts to clear he mustn't leave before they are cleared. [EXHALES]
All the while, Lan is still oblivious that something is wrong and is just following the plan.
[LAN] It should be somewhere. There. (did not use the map) [MOIRAINE] You'll have to channel into it. Split it open with sheer force if you have to. [LAN] No, he won't. You're going to open it. [MOIRAINE] Just do it. [LAN] Look at Moiraine. With the Source. [MOIRAINE] Lan. [LAN] Not just your eyes. What do you see? [MOIRAINE] Don't. [RAND] It looks like a knot tied together. [MOIRAINE] That's im… It's impossible. (see, this woman really wouldn't allow herself to even think about it, Rand tells her he see them, yet she won't believe it)
[LAN INFODUMPING BECAUSE MOIRAINE IS STILL BEING STUBBORN ABOUT HER "STILLING"] There's a story from the Age of Legends about the Foresaken's powers… a skill that's been lost for thousands of years… to tie off weaves and leave them in place. It never made sense to me, Moiraine. (reminder that it is proof he went to Siuan with doubts about this) What you're feeling? Ishamael didn't still you. Not even a Forsaken could do that alone. It is a shield that he's tied off, which means…
[MOIRAINE] It can be removed. (finally) [LAN] Yes. [RAND] What do I need to do? [LAN] You don't have the skill to untie this knot. You'll have to cut it. [MOIRAINE] I trust you. [LAN] Go on. Cut through it. [MOIRAINE] I feel it. I feel it. Thank you. Thank you. [LAN] I am sorry it took me so long to do my duty.( it took you 4 day and nights but go off king)
scene
House Sanche-Madragoran + House Lanfear-Al'Thor
Siuan arrives, shields Rand as he was super dense and leave Lan alone.
[LAN] Stop! No!
Siuan yeets Lan to the side, she does not have the time to explains and maybe he lied to her too.
[SIUAN] Close the Waygate, Moiraine. Now. -> she needs a proof You lied to me about being stilled. -> the aes sedai way obvi
[MOIRAINE not suprised to see her as she knew they were hiding something from her, and she must have her coming with her Siuan tingle.] No. I cannot. -> ok cool you didn't but you know she doesn't literally mean lie -.- I've been more truthful with you than anyone else. -> this just means that she told her the truth more than to anyone else, not that she told her all of it. Moiraine speaking in codes is tiring sometimes.
[SIUAN reminds her, in an attempt to convice Moiraine to close the Waygate herself. ]
We failed, Moiraine. -> They did fail together At the Eye of the World, you failed. -> She did fail at the eye. The stakes are too high to fail again. -> stating facts
Close the Waygate. -> she asked
[MOIRAINE being the bratty bottom that she is] also where was she going ? SO dramatic i swear, she turns around and start walking to the Waygate as if Siuan was just going to unshield Rand and let her leave because she said no) No. [SIUAN] I don't want to force you.-> but I need and have to know.
You swore to obey me on the Oath Rod. An unbreakable oath, bound by the One Power. -> Moiraine knows , she knows she voices it because she doesn't want to have to use it, feels cornered and is trying to convince and brace herself for whatever will come of it if Moiraine ends up forcing her to use it. A real betrayal or she just violated her wife because of this damned Mission. Both, horrific for her.
Siuan… -> surely Moiraine understood after hearing this what was really going on for Siuan. She doesn't know if she can trust her anymore. For Siuan, surely Moiraine understood why she insisted so much and was ready to do what she never even though about as a possibility or as something that was anything but just wrong ( throwback to Lan's bond in the first suiaraine meeting)
Close it. -> this one feels like she's desperate at this point for her to close it there, not the same intonation at all, she's bracing herself for what is coming. No more feelings, no more asking, no more plea, no more bargaining, she has too know before it's too late, she orders. Even though, that's the intent she puts behind the intonation we can still see it on her face, hear it in her voice, see it in her eyes and in the way she moves.
[SOFTLY] Siuan… -> this one must have felt like a ruse, the same way Moiraine first rejected Siuan's touch because she knew what would happen. The facade would break into pieces and she'd give in. Here, Moiraine softly calling her name, almost like she's begging, after she's been warned, after her herself showed how much she just needed her to at least close it did not feel like something she could allow herself to hear so she cuts her off and the rest is history.
Moiraine Damodred… [MOIRAINE] No, if you have ever loved me, don't do this. [SIUAN] … I command you… … to close the Waygate.
House Lanfer-Al'Thor
[MOIRAINE surprised to even see Lanfear as she thought she escaped having to deal with her, when Verin freed her. I believe that she pieces things together here, not all of it but just enough to understand what she couldn't believe happened to her from Siuan, the last person she'd think would ever do this to her just the moment before she arrived, they did not talk but she understood]
Lanfear.
[LANFEAR LAUGHS]
[MOIRAINE] She's too strong, Siuan. Don't. No. [LANFEAR] I told you the next time I saw you two together, I'd kll her. [RAND] You're not going to touch her. Not if you want my help.
[LANFEAR] Every day you grow more like Lews.
Lucky for you, a broken Amyrlin is more useful to me than a dead one.
[SIUAN] Moiraine, please. (go)
[LAN] Moiraine, please. (come)
Highly recommend you watch this scene in particular

Goals: different for each person but utltimately related the Dragon.
Rand Al'thor : leave Cairhien, to go to Falme to free Egwene
Moiraine Damodred : Help Rand, avoid Lanfear.
Siuan Sanche : Help Moiraine, Protect her and Rand from the Forsaken
Al'Lan Mandragoran : Help Moiraine, Protect her from the Forsaken and secondarily Rand.
Alanna Mosvani : Help the dragon reborn/ Moiraine
Ihvon : Help Alanna, the dragon reborn/Moiraine
Maksim : Help Alanna, the dragon reborn/Moiraine
Verin Mathwin : Help fulfill the prophecy
Tomas: Help and assist Verin
The Daugther of the night, Lanfear : Seperate Moiraine and Rand, Kill her, Get Rand to Falme
Liandrin Guirale : Kill Moiraine, Help Lanfear
Barthanes Damodred (unkowingly) : Help his house regain it's lost glory
4 houses playing against each other and for each other at the same time. What went wrong ? Everything. Who won ? No one. What was left of what was before ? Nothing.
I wanted to be a little dramatic. On a more serious note, they all lost and won something, except for Barthanes. So that is all.
To sum it all up, everything that went down with Siuan and Moiraine was genuine and real, Lan and her had a plan all along, everything was going fine until the other players of this game of houses started to place their pawns on the board to try and win the game. In the end, as they were all playing for each other and against each other at the same time no one really won.
On the first board,
Moiraine regained her powers, but still has to deal with Lanfear, Siuan is hurt and in a precarious position for both herself and their mission because she did not listen to Lan and trusted her.
Lan regained Moiraine's trust but Lanfear is still a threat and Siuan.
Rand is still manipulated and a pawn in someone else's game, no matter how much he thought he wasn't anymore because of Lanfear.
Siuan is heart broken that she had to do this to Moiraine, even though her plan still worked and Moiraine regained her powers which is a win but then again did she really win, when she's lying on the floor, hurt and surrounded by enemies, even in the tower, where she was supposed to be at her safest and strongest ?
Lanfear gets Rand but Moiraine isn't dead and she even have to deal with Lan now, as she said in E08, they're dead weight.
On the second board,
Liandrin being Black Ajah is known because of Elayne, Eggy and Nynaeve but now, even Anvaere.
Verin is black ajah and known ( or least suspected to be) because of Siuan (thanks to Leane), because she knows Verin couldn't have known about her plan to help Moiraine or known that she'd ever need to escape. Tomas goes with Verin.
Alanna and Maksim seems to have lost Ihvon.
Thank you for reading, answering the poll, carefully listening and watching. Leave a comment and tell me what you think about this theory-analysis of episode 7. I'd love to hear your opinions, answer your questions etc…

Casting an older aged Latra got me like 👀
If she was Katie Brayben’s “age” right before the bore was sealed then it could be hundreds of years later when her older actress appears.
My theory based on nothing but vibes says the Rhuidean flashbacks need to be condensed to the same set of actors so younger Latra sets the Aiel on their way and the older Latra establishes Rhuidean. Bonus pain for an AoL Aes Sedai having to see what they’ve done to the Aiel and what they’re going to continue to do to them.

Me talking how if Rand goes to Tar Valon and has a scene with Logain there is also a chance for him to:
Meet Elayne and her having a crush on him. Also, meet her brothers.
Reunite with Mat and share some scenes with him ( very important bc among the group Rand was the only one who believed in Mat even after he abandoned them)
Share a scene with Egwene and maybe they also break up? Not sure about this one, might be too early.

Ok, it's late night here so time for a controversial and totally premature take that Siuan's absence has made me think about:
...Within the first four episodes, I think it's been clear that there have been Siuan-shaped holes in the plot. Now, they have been able to work around it. But it would have been great to have Siuan in the tower and for her to be a part of the Tower politics, have her scene with Nynaeve that they gave to Liandrin, and especially for her to have an encounter/conversation with Egwene because of their amazing partnership later on.
And who knows this might have been a decision made in the writers room, not having to do with actor availability at all. BUT Sophie Okonedo is an amazing actress who is in many shows and movies (plus theatre), and that's great for her. And she is obviously an amazing Siuan Sanche, there's no question about that. But as we get to the plot from latter books, she becomes much more prominent in Nynaeve, Elayne, and then Egwene's story and if adapted correctly would probably be a series regular and be in every episode. Now, as much as I love Sophie as Siuan and hope that she would be able to do that amount of work on the show, I think that if there is a question on whether keeping Sophie but decreasing Siuan's role, either by cutting her role down or giving it to another Aes Sedai, or recasting Siuan, they should recast her.
Now recasting sounds drastic, but in the book when Siuan and Leane are stilled they de-age due to no longer being held to their oaths. This also signals the start of Siuan's increased presence in the plot so if Sophie was unable to do it (and I really hope that she would be able to!) it would be the perfect time to recast with a younger actress who looks like Sophie (and Leane could be a younger Aes Sedai so she wouldn't need to be de-aged in the same way). Because I feel like Siuan's contribution to the plot and the themes of her being Egwene's mentor while Moiraine was Rand's, and her teaching and guiding Egwene, her successor, and later being one of Egwene's agents are too important and distinct to give to another Aes Sedai or diminish the role she plays.
Like I said in the beginning, this speculation is very premature and maybe the writers purposely are keeping Siuan's role small in the beginning of the season and it's not about availability. Also I think that Sophie would absolutely kill Siuan's Salidar arc so I really hope we get her for a full realized version of it.

There are so many directions the show could go in s3, and obviously with such a huge world to explore it makes sense that a lot of the theorising has revolved around which new locations the show might bring in! But I've also been wondering about the possibility of the existing locations being used in unexpected ways - in particular, Cairhien and Falme, given that nearly every single character we've met in the show so far was in one of these two locations the last time we saw them.
As of 2x07, almost all of the Aes Sedai we've met so far in the show are in Cairhien, and in some degree of disarray, with Rand, Moiraine and Lan having just escaped in very suspicious circumstances. Siuan, Leane, Verin and Alanna are all potentially vulnerable to accusations of conspiring to allow this (even if it was only the latter two and their Warders who are actually guilty of doing so). Liandrin's last appearance was also here, and she may be about to be unmasked as a Darkfriend along with Barthanes, thanks to Anvaere.
This means that Liandrin, Verin and Alanna all have very good reason to hightail it out of Cairhien as quickly as possible; the only one who might plausibly be able to fly under the radar is Alanna, since her role in the escape wasn't as obvious (though given that her actress has been posting pics of very Two Rivers-esque locations and selfies with the actress who plays Chiad, it looks like her plotline probably will follow the books and dovetail with Perrin's, and she'll certainly need some impetus to break away from the rest of the Aes Sedai if so - if Verin also joins that group, as in the books, it makes a lot of sense for them to leave Cairhien immediately, potentially by trying to follow Rand and Moiraine to Falme and somehow falling in with Perrin instead).
There's also a chance that Liandrin might head to Falme to regroup with Lanfear, since she's now one of her agents. Obviously Lanfear can communicate with her via Tel'aran'rhiod and Travel to her if absolutely necessary, but Liandrin will certainly need to head somewhere now that she's no longer able to work undercover in the Tower. And given that Elayne and Nynaeve's Black Ajah-hunting plotline is about to require a trigger, having Liandrin show up in Falme and be spotted by them would certainly set them on her tail quite neatly. Nynaeve and Elayne could even start out by hunting down the remnants of the Seanchan in Falme/trying to free the remaining damane, before being unexpectedly shunted onto the trail of the Black Ajah (and this could also provide a neat opportunity to bring in Egeanin, though her introduction could also be pushed back a few seasons quite easily).
From there, they easily could track Liandrin (plus any cronies she has with her) to Tanchico in the back half of the season - they're certainly on the right side of the continent! Or, alternatively, Falme could stand in for Tanchico entirely in the same way that it's already partly stood in for Tear as the site of the main prophecy regarding the place where the Dragon Reborn will be unveiled.
But we could also have significantly more early-season content in Cairhien than expected, given that it's not just the Aes Sedai who are almost all in Cairhien - Min and Logain are both there as well. Which means that the entirety of Siuan's bookverse post-coup travel party is conveniently assembled in the same place, right as Siuan's (and Leane's) credibility as leader of the Tower has just taken a massive, massive hit.
Of course, the show could contrive to bring Min and Logain back to Tar Valon as well at the start of the season. Plus, as s2 has amply demonstrated, there's no guarantee that the composition of the bookverse travel parties will remain identical.
But, well... isn't it awfully convenient that they're all neatly assembled in the same place already? And wouldn't Siuan be even more vulnerable to the prospect of being deposed if she was still away from her seat of power when the threat of a coup was raised?
In conclusion: I would not be at all surprised if one of the first scenes in s3 was Elaida do Avriny a'Roihan riding into Cairhien, possibly escorted by Gawyn Trakand, bringing urgent news of unrest in the Caemlyn court in one hand and preparing to unseat Siuan while she's at her weakest with the other.

Borrowing @amemoryofwot tags to bounce a wot theory off my head...
IF we get to the tower scene, I can see the party being Mat and Birgitte (and maybe Thom if he is brought back because they need a musician*). It always struck me as odd to set up Birgitte as one who warns Perrin off the tower, and has Mat drill her about a time she went in to rescue Gaidal and they died instead, and not give her the story/catharsis of going in and saving someone. I know she's kind of busy being Elayne's warder but it would also be interesting to have her do something that ties into being more than Elayne's warder. That in the show both she and Mat are heroes of the horn does make me want to see them get into all sorts of shenanigans.
The whole Noal = Jain thing was kind of interesting but also sending Mat in with two old men and one not walking away from the job was pretty meh overall. And yeah, we can hope the Thom/Moiraine thing and Gareth/Siuan thing never eventuates like in the books.
*hilarious thought, because I know he's out of the picture by then, but imagine their musician being Asmodean. (Also Asmo sacrificing himself for Moiraine would be fun for making Rand feel all sorts of ways)

Thing about Mat's luck as a narrative device
Like, in the books it's clear that his luck is part of his ta'varen abilities and that it guides him where he needs to go (even when he THINKS he's being unlucky, like when he keeps running into groups of soldiers during the battle in Cairhien or when a wall falls on him in Ebou Dar, he's really gathering the Band around him or being in a place to meet Tuon) and the dice in his head are a sign that a Big Moment is approaching, but we never really see him take advantage of this - he uses his luck mostly to win money or to make random decisions and the dice ramp up narrative tension without Mat really being able to DO anything about them
Anyway, a couple people complained that we've only seen Mat lose while gambling so far and it made me think - what if there's a greater purpose to it? What if Mat's fortune at dice speaks to his overall fortune in the greater story?
In the first episode we see him losing just before Padan Fain brings the Trollocs to town, and last episode he lost at dice while traveling with Min - of course, unbeknownst to him, Min is working with Liandrin to deliver him into the hands of the Forsaken (tbf, unbeknownst to Min as well!)
So Mat's luck, on screen, might inform of us of what's coming in the future, and whether he's on the right path or the wrong one
But what would be really interesting is if Mat himself realised this, and weaponises his luck in a way we sometimes, almost, see him do in the book (tracking down the storehouse with the Bowl of the Winds, or finding Moiraine in the Tower of Ghenjei) to make decisions
And also get rich, of course
It would be an interesting way to have a character who often feels trapped by his own fate - both on a character level with his constant complaining but also on a meta-narrative level with the dice in his head that he can't control - take an active role in his place in the story and the Pattern
(Or maybe Mat just hasn't inherited the Dark One's own luck yet and that's why we haven't seen it 🤷‍♀️)

I feel like they've done a good job in setting up the things that are relevant for what's happening on-screen, because they are very aware of how little time they have to get through 15 books (including New Spring, which they definitely have). So far, there just hasn't been much reason for the show to bring it up, because Rand hasn't been a public figure until the very end of the s2 finale.
We are likely to have the coup next season (I feel like we can be all but certain of it) so how dangerous the Dragon is seems likely to be a key aspect of that, especially due to how he slipped his Aes Sedai reins in 2x7.
Whether or not it's brought up to Rand specifically seems like it would depend on how long he's going to be in the Aiel Waste. If he's there for the rest of the season, then they probably would only set it up in other plotlines and not so much in Rand's, but if he's only in the Waste in episodes 3-6 and then he returns to the wetlands, then I could see them setting it up in episodes 1-2 so that when he returns and 'conquers' a city, the audience would feel the impact of that.
Ultimately, some people will ignore what's happening on-screen because it doesn't fit the way they want to think about the show -- think about all the book readers who think Lan is a great role model for Rand and are angry that he's not as ~badass~ and ~stoic~ in the show! -- so as long as the majority of the audience doesn't think that way, I personally think the show is doing fine.
I do wonder when they're gonna get into "you do not want to be the chosen one" aspect. Cause yes they have shown the madness and what the Aes Sedai want to do to him but we do still have some show onlies thinking being the Dragon is a good heroic figure? Guess I'm just waiting for the shoe to drop in the show where they're like "actually this is more like finding out you're the antichrist."

More s3 hints from interviews (day 2 & Josha!)
@markantonys linked me to a masterthread of More Interviews (twitter.com/GradeKangusBeef/status/1736788980006330448), which I have scoured for more s3 hints, lol. The twitter thread is being updated as they appear, so I definitely recommend the thread as a whole.
From a screenrant interview with Zoë:
Are there any future events or character moments from the books that you know about that you’re excited to get into?
Zoë Robins: Yes, definitely. I’m going to have to tread very carefully, but there’s a moment in season three that I think Wheel of Time book readers will be very, very happy about. It was incredibly exciting to shoot. I think that’s all I can say.
Guessing this will be the Nynaeve-Moghedien confrontation! The word 'exciting' makes me lean that way -- though we may get other key scenes from the books like Lan giving her his ring, not sure that would count as 'incredibly exciting to shoot' and would more likely be described as tender or sweet.
From one with Daniel:
One thing that is less present in the show so far compared to the books is Lan being kind of a mentor figure for Rand. Is there a chance we’ll get a little more of that as the show progresses?
Daniel Henney: I would say that I personally would not bet against it. I'm being shipped off in two months to a place very far away to shoot some really incredible stuff where I have to be in very good shape. I'm eating tree leaves and protein shakes, and I'm in a double training schedule right now, which could include some of the stuff you're talking about.
Another hint that we'll be getting Lan training Rand next season.
From a Dónal one from screenrant; this isn't about s3 but it's sweet:
Dónal Finn: It's great. I love the character very much for that reason. It’s a very human experience that when you're watching, you can go, “I can identify with that, because that person is trying to use levity and humor and lightness to make ease of someone else's difficult situation.” Even though it often can feel like he's kind of punching up or trying to jeer at Rand or something, he knows that it comes from a place of, like, “God, there's so much hard stuff going on for Rand in every day of his life that he needs somebody to do that.” Otherwise, when we meet him in Cairhien, if he doesn't have that—if he doesn't have Mat at that place—he may not laugh, and that's just really crap for your best friend.
I love this point here. I don't think I even realized how miserable as a baseline Rand was this season until we got that contrast of his reunion with Mat. We may be getting that dynamic continuing into s3.
Kate Fleetwood with dragonmount:
KF: Lots of things happen in Season Three... yeah… they sat me down and were like, “This is what we are planning for you in Season Three.” I was, whoaa! Ok…
Very vague, but interesting! I wonder if Liandrin will be a tug-of-rope between Moghedien and Lanfear next season, because Lanfear snagged her from Ishamael but Moggy might snag her from Lanfear.
The tiniest of s3 hints from Ayoola:
AS: A combination of things, I think like, it’s the writers and it is Naomi, my dialect coach, and I kind of spoke about that, it is that humor that the Aiel have that's kind of, can catch you off guard and isn't necessarily funny to everyone but they find it amusing… just where that hits I think and just kind of the situations and we're able to play with that and bring that in.  Also, Aviendha is kind of a little bit more cheeky than some of the other Aiel that we will encounter and kind of her humor is very much part of who she is. Just kind of playing around with that, and it just, it just came out and felt right.
We're gonna meet some serious Aiel in s3. Not a surprise, but good to hear!
Madeleine talked to decider.com:
So far what we know about next season is it’s going to be hugely inspired by The Shadow Rising. We’re going to see Rhuidean and Tel’aran’rhiod. Egwene is now coming out of being a damane. You know, is there anything about her experience with the Seanchan that might influence how she handles, say, another hard, foreign culture like the Aiel? Absolutely. Look, I think even from Season 1, we see that Egwene’s truly been a novice of the world and is fascinated with what is out there and what other people can teach her and what other cultures can teach her. I think she’s sort of taken little bits of the Two Rivers, the White Tower, the Seanchan… And, you know, she goes on this journey to the Aiel Waste and ultimately will, no doubt, learn a lot there as well. So I think she’s just like a big sponge for the world and wants to learn.
Confirmation that Egwene is going to the Aiel Waste, which makes sense, given that's her TSR plotline. Also, Egwene as a big sponge for the world and constantly learning is just... absolute 100% Egwene.
Josha talked to looper.com:
For Rand, Season 2 was about finding himself and realizing that he can't run away from it. He needs to do it with the people he loves. Season 3 is finally time for facing what he has to face. He's owning that prophecy more, and we see glimpses of why Rand is the Dragon Reborn and why he'll end up where he needs to end up. As that evolution's taking place, what do you do to get into character as this character is evolving? I'm very lucky that I have 14 books, which I have read, and that has given me a lot. I really understand Rand, and it's a lot of things. It's the conversations I have with Rafe [Judkins], the directors, and the writers. It's playing with all these amazing actors. It's the sets. Everything feels so real, and at the end of Season 3, we go to South Africa for two months, and being in that environment, all those things added up together, that helps you to get into the character.
Very exciting! We know that South Africa is Rhuidean, I believe, so very exciting to hear.
Also, Season 3, that keeps on going, and that is a very interesting area to explore because Lanfear is the Devil, and you can't love the Devil. It feels at times that Lanfear is the only one that really understands Rand, and because Rand is often very lonely in what he feels and sees, it seems like, at times, he can't express it to anyone else, and she's exactly what he needs — but she's the devil. That was very interesting for us to explore, and I secretly hope that Rand and Lanfear marry, but I don't think that will happen.
lol @ Josha. Anyway, yes, they're going to be exploring Lanfear trying to tempt/manipulate Rand more in s3, sounds like, so she isn't going to pay attention to Moghedien's warning for too long.
Again, without spoilers, what's next for Rand and the Emond's Field Five heading into Season 3? What can we expect? That's a good question. What can you expect for Season 3 without getting into spoilers? Well, they're together again. There is way more togetherness than in Season 2. That's exciting. It is fun to follow all of you guys, but there's a lot more momentum when you're all together. That's also quite hard for them, because these main characters all need to become something eventually. Because they are so close, it also creates some inner conflict. Rand, for example — if someone has been to your first birthday parties, it is very hard to become the most powerful channeler in the world and also the most dangerous man in the world, because they know your parents and they know who you were. That is one of the struggles they're facing now that they're together at the start of Season 3.
I would like to paste that last sentence from his first answer directly into the brains of everyone at reddit who believes that s3 is going to start with everyone all split up into separate plotlines and we're not going to get any group interactions.
Great answers from Josha in this one!
Screenrant also talked to him:
How do you interpret Rand’s relationship with Egwene in season 2? It’s romantic in the first season; do you feel like there’s a thread of that still there?
Josha Stradowski: I think a thread of that romantic relationship is definitely still there, because it gives this feeling of home for the both of them. They have been to each other's birthday parties. I think that is, on a human level, very [much] what they both need. But I think it also might transition to something else; more like a brother/sister kind of love. But that’s season three, maybe.
I'm really glad they asked him about Egwene!
Rand only reunites with his friends from the Two Rivers at the end of the season, and we haven’t seen how they are around him [after] knowing that he’s the Dragon yet. Can you say anything about what that dynamic is for season 3? Are they afraid of him?
Josha Stradowski: I think for all the main characters, they get what they need, and that is each other, but for all of them comes the internal conflict that they also feel like they need to become something else. It's like this growing pain, and I think Rand has that quite a lot. I feel like he wants to be there for his friends, he knows that he needs to be there for them to protect them, and the other way around as well, but he also needs to become the most dangerous men alive. How can you do that with someone that knows your dad, or the girl who kissed you for the first time? I don't know if that's Egwene, but in my head it is. So, I feel like they all struggle with this growing pain, but you see why they are friends, and you see why they are together; why they are the main characters of this story.
More that implies that we're going to be seeing EF5 interactions before they split up.
Collider also talked to him:
I've been reading the books, as well, and I think that's one of the sadder parts of Rand's journey, as you see how he's viewed through other characters, and the sadness of them reconciling their memories of him with the person that he now is kind of forced to become. Speaking of love relationships, though, I talked to Ceara and Rafe about Rand and Elayne's first meeting. What was important to capture in hinting at what this relationship is going to be, as well as the surprise of that connection? It feels like these are two people looking at each other for the first time and thinking, “You're going to be someone special.” STRADOWSKI: Yes. And that's what I take away, quite often, from the books as well. I have that with Selene, for example. There are a lot of moments where Rand can't get a word out of his mouth because he's so in shock at the beauty of this woman in front of him — and we didn't really have that with Selene, not like that in the TV show, but we did have it for Elayne. It's, like you said, a hint of what it could be, but I feel like it's subtle. It's a gradual thing which needs to be organic, and we might have some of that in Season 3, but I can't spoil that.
He talks a lot more openly about Selene/Lanfear in general -- which makes sense, because that's the relationship that was on the screen in front of us, while the Elayne relationship is gonna have a lot more spoilers involved -- but we get this hint here and I like hearing that the plan for Rand & Elayne is to be gradual and organic (which will be a big contrast to how the Rand/'Selene' relationship was introduced).
I will point out that Josha seems pretty careful overall about spoilers, mostly talking about things pretty vaguely and with ambiguity, so it feels like part of why he's talking about Lanfear so much is because she's one of the few things he's allowed to openly talk about at this point.
Lan training Rand is something that I think fans are excited to see, so I'll ask you the same question that I asked Daniel: can we look forward to that in Season 3? STRADOWSKI: What did Daniel say? He said he's back on the Warder diet, but then he also referenced your recent Instagram post and said that he needs to trim up to stand next to you. STRADOWSKI: Well, you can tell him I'm on the Dragon diet. Like you said, I'm also very excited to finally see some Lan/Rand swordfighting. I think it's time.
It cracks me up that Josha feels out how much Daniel might have spoiled before he says anything.

Daes dae'Mar theory: What has been proved so far ?
So, in this post, i'll just add the proof I found that confirms or consolidate some parts of the theory. It won't be as long as the theory itself of course, so no need to worry about as there isn't much to explain just proof to provide.
SPECIFIC LORE SPOILER ABOUT THE WT AND MINOR BOOK SPOILER (we kind of know this already but some might have not picked up on it when Min foresaw it in S1)
Part 1 : Proving the content of Liuan off-screen talk and plan
I claimed that the person who helped Lan with Moiraine's powers was Siuan all along and not Verin like many seems to think is the most logical and probable explanation.
Well, it's true that Verin being trusted enough to know the truth about Moiraine being stilled that them staying with them for the last 6 months makes it hard to imagine anything else.
But,we were wrong, we got fooled by the writers. As we weren't supposed to realise that there were multiple plans unfolding DURING Daes dae'Mar but only after. A lot of us did not even know what to expect or suspect with the title. I for one did not question the ep until after I went on twitter and learned that the title suggested it.
We've been shown this already thanks to episode 8. They did not want us to see the betrayal coming nor did they want us to know that Bayle Domon knew Lanfear as Selene; Knowing this, It is safe to assume that everything that seems to be the obvious answer when it comes to these plans are debatable. They did hinted at the truth throughout the season though, we just did not pick up on them.
Simple instance of this, that must now seem to stick out like a sore thumb to everyone is that in E01, when Bayle Domon comes and talk to Mo :
When did this come into your possession? [DOMON] Couple of months back. [MOIRAINE] Where? [DOMON] Outside Cairhien. The old moon dial there shattered one night this spring. I know you have men following me. I want them gone, too. I don't take kindly to unwanted company. [MOIRAINE] Your enemies are your own. It seems there's something written on this. [DOMON] Aye. The whole dial was covered in a poem when they found it. Written in blood. Old Tongue. I have a copy, actually. […] Ah, serves me right, I suppose. [MOIRAINE] These men you say are following you, what do they look like? [DOMON] Only caught a glimpse from a distance, once, when we, uh, left the dock at Whitebridge. Two men in black cloaks on horseback. [MOIRAINE ] Did you see their faces? [DOMON] No. Their hoods covered them.
Moiraine's reaction after towards Bayle Domon was an indication, there's a mention of Cairhien which we know is where Rand is, most only realised that something was off with Selene or though that she would be Lanfear (for book readers) but how many made the connections thought that the fades, Bayle Domon going to Moiraine with crucial pieces of information followed by them but never attacked and them only attacking Moiraine once he's left and given her the poem was part of some plan before episode 8 ?
Now that this is established, let's provide the proof.
Remember when I asked that you take a mental or physical note of Lan mentioning the Tower Records ?
Well, this is the show telling us implicitly that he has been working with Siuan, and misleading us into thinking that surely what would explains his knowledge on these matters when he info dumps to Moiraine about the Forsaken was that he worked with Verin, a brown sister with whom he was living with for the last 6 months or so.
It is also a really good way of diverting our attention from the incoherence this assumption would cause, like the simple fact that Lan never learned that Verin knew about the Dragon Reborn before he got separated from Moiraine and that Verin couldn't have known about his and Siuan's plans that most of us thought was about Rand, the Dragon Reborn and not about Moiraine. How would she know (if she was in on it) about something unexpected even for Lan and plan an escape for it in advance?
This lead us to assume that after Lan told Siuan about Mo's stiling she decided to go to Cairhien mostly because of Rand, to meet him and then decided ALONE to finally start following the tower rules after meeting him. No matter that they had showed before that Moiraine and Siuan's dynamic regarding their mission did not rely on having a leader even though dominance naturally oozes out of her and in spite of her position in the Tower as Amyrlin seat.
Even book readers fell for it, outraged and worried that the show was turning Siuan into Elaida. ( still not a book reader, just I obviously constantly spoil myself anything related to Liuane ( Mo, Lan, Siuan) ) but it's normal, even for book readers.
As this little piece of information is a specific Aes Sedai/ White Tower part of the lore of The Wheel Of Time.
To instantly pick up on this you'd have to have memorised it or been obsessed with the Aes sedai's when you read the books and even then, you'd have to be looking for it to catch it. So, obviously, I went looking for it.
After digging into WoT WT laws, customs and systems. I can now assure that the show itself (apart from the writer saying that they planned "a sort of intervention" for Mo in the bonus) already confirmed my theory about Liuan having a plan for Moiraine.
Mo'an in the Sun Palace
[LAN] I have a question for you. And I hope someday you'll forgive me for asking it. ( a single question huh ?) After you were stilled by Ishamael, has there been a time… in all these months when you thought about ending it? [MOIRAINE] Killing myself?
According to what I've found, the WT library has a categorisation system in place that hierarchies information. Starting from "not sealed" all the way up to "Sealed to the flame".
When something is “Sealed to the Flame,” it means that by law, it can only be read by the Amyrlin Seat. “Sealed to the Hall” means that it can only be known to Sitters and “Sealed to the Ring” that it can only be known by Aes Sedai. If something is not sealed, it is open for even the newest novice to know (ACoS, Ch. 12).
Lan, thanks to his time spent with Verin only knew that being stilled was like the most brutal form of violation one could endure and that most women died because of it. So, rather vague and general knowledge. Yet, he later tells Moiraine:
[LAN] I read the Tower records. There have only been two women in history who were cut off who didn't. Most did it within the year.
It begs the question : Which level could Tower Records be at? Thanks to my research I learned that :
By Tower law, the official histories of the White Tower are unavailable to all but Aes Sedai (TWoRJTWoT, Ch. 9).
So, I digged a little more as it was too vague to prove anything and looked for something more specific, as I remembered that stilling was apparently something taboo in the Tower ( I read it somewhere on twitter and remembered) I directed my research toward a minimum level of "Sealed to the Hall", as Lan knew specific things about the age of legend and Forsaken but also most importantly he said himself (again a clue we missed):
[LAN] There's a story from the Age of Legends about the Foresaken's powers… a skill that's been lost for thousands of years… to tie off weaves and leave them in place.
I thought there's no way this kind of knowledge is available to any Aes Sedai and so it had to be a minimum of "Sealed to The Hall" to "Sealed to The Flame" and here's what i found :
(About the Keeper of the Chronicles) She has access to the Thirteenth Depository (CoT, Glossary). Included within the Thirteenth Depository are the lists of those who have been stilled and executed (ACoS, Prologue). The Thirteenth Depository, containing secret records of the history of the White Tower, is hidden by law. Even the fact that it exists, and the law that conceals it, are hidden (ACoS, Ch. 11).
So, obviously, if just stilling records are kept in the Thirtheenth Depository, Information about skills that the forsaken used and that most believed to be lost which are actually documented in the Tower Records, surely kept in the Thirtheenth Depository.
If not Siuan, it only could have been Leane as the only other people allowed in there are the Sitters of the Hall, and even then they have to be accompanied by the Keeper otherwise they won't be allowed to access it.
"These are the secret histories, containing information that, by law, on The Amyrlin Seat, the Keeper of Chronicles and the Sitters of the Hall and the librarians who keep the records have access to."
Now that this as been proven, apologise to my client people, thank you.
About me believing she did not need to go back to the Tower to know I just refered to this thing I stumble uppon while researching :
MINOR SPOILER AHEAD (we kind of know this already but some might have not picked up on it when Min prophecised it in S1)
Egwene thinks that Siuan "must have spent a good part of her years in the Tower burying herself in the secret histories," because she "seemed to have every detail at her fingertips" (TPoD, Ch. 16).
Proving that Siuan was the one that made Moiraine gaining her powers possible, also prove that Verin probably turned to the dark at some point, which I believe was when she left with Liandrin but also :
"Compulsion is a weave that forces to do as they're instructed (TSR, Ch. 46). During the War of the Shadow, it was a potent weapon. People were forced to serve the Shadow against their will. Others were converted to undercover agents, to betray the Light at the most damaging times (TWoRJTWoT, Ch. 4)."

Are we even sure there's going to be a show-Elaida at all? I have a very strong feeling that they're setting up Liandrin for the whole depose-and-replace-the-Amyrlin story as well, combining the two characters. Of course, having a confirmed darkfriend as Amyrlin would change a number of things, but Elaida's character hasn't been introduced yet and it would be strange to have such an important opponent appear out of thin air... especially when we already have a Red sister who's an established villain.
Costuming the Amyrlin, part 2
For the sake of spoiler avoidance, this post is in two parts. Please read part 1 on Siuan's costuming as we've seen onscreen so far before reading this post!
At some point in the show, we are going to be seeing Siuan when she is no longer the Amyrlin, and we are going to see Egwene and Elaida as two very different Amyrlins. They have room to go in some very different directions with their costumes, and thus far, I think Siuan's costumes as Amyrlin really lend themselves to this. So this is my speculation, based on what they've done so far, and the elements of Siuan's costuming as they lend themselves to other characters, and how we can contrast them.
Siuan Sanche after the Tower
If you're reading this post, you're very aware that Siuan's time as Amyrlin is not going to last much longer - very scared, but very excited to see Sophie Okonedo absolutely kill it as we see that contrast between Siuan Sanche the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan the stilled runaway, and Siuan Sedai.
It seems a safe bet that Siuan's costumes after the coup will be a lot simpler and a lot more comfortable, and that'll continue in Salidar, not just as a runaway. Siuan on the run, as well as Siuan in Salidar, is Siuan with actual control and agency over the very simple thing of choosing what to wear. Or, as much control as you can have with little in the way of funds or resources. But I wouldn't be shocked if it's a one-way shift - even once the Tower reunites, Siuan will be in a position to have a lot more control over every element of herself, and sticking her in costumes that she would be more comfortable in is an easy visual cue to support whatever she says and does.
(As an aside: I hope Sharon knows that I'll be finding her for A Conversation if she takes cues from the way the books describe Siuan's costumes in Salidar and Tel'aran'rhiod. There are many things that happen in these books that should remain on the page and never grace our screens and a good chunk of that list pertains to Siuan. But anyway...)
Also: I would love it if we get Siuan with a protective hairstyle once she's out of the Tower. Please.
Elaida as Amyrlin
Elaida is going to be living for this. I have no doubt that Elaida's costumes will make Siuan's seem subdued. But how can that happen when Siuan's are already so ostentatious? Add more stuff. Make it tacky. Siuan's regalia, while ostentatious, is tasteful; Elaida is decidedly not. Elaida seems exactly the type to add gems, to add jewellery, to add colour - she wears a lot of red in the books, and if she continues to do so in the show, it will stand out even more after an Amyrlin whose clothing remained neutral. It's a very sharp visual contrast. Elaida is desperately clinging to power, to prestige, to the illusion of respect - I've no doubt that her costuming will reflect that.
I do still expect some continuity with Siuan's costumes, though, at least to start. The papal shapes, with huge swathes of fabric disguising the person underneath; the sheer amount of embroidery and other decoration, a clear display of how much time can be afforded for one garment to be worn by one person. But where Siuan's costumes were neutral, Elaida's will not be. Where Siuan's costumes were subtle (or as subtle as a queen-pope-leader role can allow), Elaida's will not be.
And by making Elaida be so overt in her show of power and resources, it will contrast spectacularly with Egwene in Salidar.
Egwene as Amyrlin
When Egwene is raised, Salidar will have no resources to make her look the Amyrlin in the way that Siuan looked the Amyrlin - they don't have the funds, they don't have the tailors, they don't have the fabric. I'm expecting this to be where the stole of the books to make its appearance - they cannot make Egwene look like she could stand next to a queen, but they can make her recognisable in her role with some strips of fabric.
But also: as I mentioned earlier, the olivey-gold colour that comes when you blend the seven colours of the Ajahs, that bears a striking resemblance to the gold of Siuan's costumes? I can see Egwene wearing that colour, in far simpler clothing. It would be a fairly subtle call-back to Siuan's costumes, dialling down in opposition to the way in which Elaida's will inevitably be dialled up. Egwene's costumes will take the colour, and make the clothing simpler; Elaida's will take the ostentation and the structure, and make it obnoxious.
And when she reunites the Tower, she may not end up in full regalia. Of course, she might, as it would symbolise the reunification, making it feel wholly formal. But I wouldn't be surprised if her regalia is plainer - she was the Amyrlin of a rebel faction, and she did not have the regalia of the position; she does not need it now, because there is no doubt of her role. She does not need to reinforce her position by showing her resources, and given what she has achieved without much at all, a lack of ostentation will lend her more credence than anything else. Egwene as Amyrlin ushers in a new age for the Tower - the vestments may be another thing that she discards with the old ways.
It's still early days - we've yet to see Siuan in season 2, and things may change, depending on the costumes we see her in. (I believe I heard mention of a travelling outfit in this video, and it sounds like it's referring to one we don't see, but I'm not sure.) However, with what they've done so far, I think they've set themselves up spectacularly to show both the change in Siuan over her arc, and the ways in which the Amyrlins that succeed her play their hands in their roles.

Possible crack theory but what do you think about Isshy actually wanting Min to reveal her vision to Mat?
I was thinking about it and I couldn't think what he could possible gain with having Rand and Mat on the same place/ travelling together. After all, Rand is on his lowest and more vulnerable when he's isolated. And Rand reuniting with Mat and making plans to go rescue Egwene together only for Mat to betray him (at least as far as Rand knows) would be a huge blow to his already fragile mental state.
Meanwhile, Mat being aware that he's destined to harm Rand ( according to Min's vision) also serves Isshy's plan for him. Because Mat, with his low self esteem issues, will feel once again good for nothing and that no matter what he does that he's destined to give into dark. So that would make it easier for Isshy to try to manipulate him.

Getting in before S3 airs with a stray thought: Moghedien is absolutely gonna murder the hell out of Liandrin because the show is not going to be interested in fucking around with All The Bad Ladies Are Punished With Slavery Forever Because God Forbid We Kill A Woman, but, and this is important, she's going to do it in a way that leaves Nynaeve forever unsure whether Moghedien is now her #1 enemy because she killed Liandrin or because she killed Liandrin before Nynaeve could. Can you imagine the energy that's gonna bring to Moghedien being her secret prisoner in the middle of a town full of Aes Sedai? I can and it's great.

fuck it, proposing an s3 episode-by-episode structure even though we barely have any info to go off of, because i'm bored and yearning for s3 news. can't wait to see how wrong this ends up being! i can't emphasize enough how much this is just me completely inventing structure ideas because, for real, we barely know ANYTHING yet, so do not latch onto anything i say here.
we know 4 episode titles so far, so i've included those.
3x01: to race the shadow
A-plot: the gang in falme
lots of relationship-building between various dynamics, especially rand & elayne (just friendship with Crush Hints for now) and nynaeve & lan (ring scene maybe)
rand and egwene's final breakup
mat's luck established during a gambling scene
mat goes through the doorway in turak's room of curiosities, is told to go to tanchico, gets his marriage prophecy & medallion & ashandarei, and gets cpr from rand
elayne and nynaeve learn something about liandrin that points them towards tanchico
rand decides to go to the waste and egwene does too after speaking with amys in her dreams, and perrin goes with them because he has no other plans as of yet
B-plot: aes sedai politics, catch up with siuan, catch up with liandrin
3x02: a question of crimson
i'd always hoped this would be a caemlyn episode, and the title points to that imo!! perfect title for elaida's intro episode, and red is andor's color as well.
so, A-plot: rand, egwene, perrin, et al pass through caemlyn on their way to the waste
egwene has been tasked by elayne with delivering a letter to her family; rand insists on coming with her; they trespass in the caemlyn palace and meet gawyn, galad, morgase, and elaida
i don't expect a forsaken here just yet, i think it's important to see Normal Morgase and Normal Caemlyn first so that we have a contrast later once they ARE under forsaken control.
perrin hears rumors of trouble in the two rivers and decides to split off from the group to investigate, with loial, bain, and chiad accompanying him
the rest of the group reaches the waste at the end of the episode
B-plot: nynaeve, elayne, and mat arrive in tanchico (they split off from the others in falme and go straight there, no caemlyn trip for them)
C-plot: more white tower stuff
3x03
A-plot: rand in rhuidean + general intro to the waste (rand's focal episode)
B-plot: perrin arrives in the two rivers and gets situated
C-plot: continued tanchico shenanigans, maybe they run into thom and/or min and/or tuon (who is undercover for reasons) if they didn't already in 3x02. my guess is min has been kidnapped out of cairhien by liandrin, who knows min figured out she's black ajah and doesn't want her to snitch, so maybe at some point in the early episodes there's a plotline of mat, elayne, and nynaeve rescuing min from the black ajah, and after that point min joins their scooby gang (because she's got a personal vendetta against liandrin now and also she wants to re-earn mat's trust and prove herself).
an alleged leak puts mat, thom, and min all in tanchico, so that's why i have them in this plotline. it's also why i have tuon in this plotline, as i can't think of a strong reason to move mat from the waste to tanchico if not to incorporate elements of the ebou dar trip and have him meet tuon who is filling an egeanin-type role.
3x04
A-plot: nynaeve encounters moghedien in TAR and almost dies but is saved by birgitte, whom elayne saves by bonding her as a warder (this whole sequence is the midseason climax at the end of the episode)
mat gets into some kind of shenanigan with tuon and they grow closer, but neither knows the other's true identity
B-plot: elaida, gawyn, and galad reach the white tower and start investigating elayne's disappearance and clashing with siuan
C-plots: the waste gang doing their thing, learning about aiel ways, developing avirand, etc; perrin doing his thing in the two rivers, meeting faile if he hasn't already
i could also easily switch 3x03 and 3x04 so that 3x04 is the rhuidean episode. just depends if they throw rand right into it like TSR does or if we get a General Waste Intro episode before sending him off to rhuidean. but based on a combination of leaks, we do just about know that the glass columns visions are during block 2 (eps3/4).
3x05
A-plot: perrin in the two rivers, maybe digging more into the whitecloaks, padan fain, laila trauma, luc/slayer, wolves & TAR, relationship with faile, etc. (potentially his focal episode)
B-plot: cold rocks hold stuff for the waste gang
C-plot: continued tanchico shenanigans; continued white tower politics
3x06
A-plot: alcair dal, asmodean identity reveal & capture
B-plot: some kind of tanchico conclusion. maybe this is when tuon finds out some of her new buddies can channel (and possibly even that sul'dam, and she herself, can channel) and heads back to the seanchan with Much To Think About. maybe the black ajah make their exit from the season to shift full focus onto Final Boss Moggy.
C-plots: perrin prepping for battle; continued white tower politics
3x07: goldeneyes
A-plot: perrin defending the two rivers (perrin's focal episode, unless it's instead an earlier one that's less about a major battle and more about his internal life as a character)
B-plot: tower coup? i'm very unsure where in the season to place this, i could see it at any point in episodes 6, 7, or 8. kinda doubt it would happen earlier than ep6 because i'm not sure if that would allow us enough time to build up to it, especially since major coup players like elaida and gawyn are being introduced for the very first time this season so we need decent time with them before shit goes down (plus, it just naturally feels like a Late Season Climactic Event). the head writer of 1x06 & 2x07 (aes-sedai-heavy episodes) being the head writer of 3x08 could potentially indicate that the coup happens in 3x08, but she is also an executive producer so it's not like aes sedai politics is The Only Thing she knows about.
C-plots: the waste gang travels back to the wetlands, rand learns from asmodean; tanchico crew takes a sea folk ship to the eastern part of the continent (same city where waste gang is headed)
3x08: he who comes with the dawn
A-plot: the climax of the waste crew's plotline, potentially a battle in cairhien or tear, but that may cause Battle Fatigue if 3x07 has just had a big battle. maybe this could point towards their destination being tear and them taking the stone in somewhat more of an infiltration operation like in TDR, as opposed to the more traditional battle for cairhien in TFOH? just to mix things up a bit with perrin's traditional battle in the prior episode.
okay yeah i'm leaning towards tear, plus there was the leaked alleged sammael audition script (i trust no audition scripts after the phony gawyn one from s2 lmao) where the person he's talking to is demanding to know where "it" is. so my vision is that sammael's sitting comfy in tear, rand & co launch an infiltration operation to take the stone, rand finds sammael and demands to know callandor's whereabouts, and sammael ultimately flees to continue causing trouble in a new location in s4.
A-plot part 2: the tanchico crew gets involved with the infiltration operation, and nynaeve battles & defeats moghedien AND breaks her block (if she hasn't already, that could be a good Early Win to include around ep5-6 ish)
after all this stuff is done, there is a Final Final confrontation with moiraine and lanfear getting yeeted through the doorway; nynaeve bonds lan straightaway rather than his bond going on a noncon detour to alanna
post-battle checkin with perrin, but not a ton of time with him in this episode
final stinger: our buddy tuon from tanchico is shown dressed to the seanchan nines and being addressed as the daughter of the nine moons. gasp, mat's fated wife is our buddy tuon from tanchico, who is in fact a high-ranking seanchan noble! dun dun dun!!!!!
elephant in the room: "emily, why are you having rand in the wetlands for 3x08 when an episode called 'he who comes with the dawn' would obviously be about alcair dal?" listen, i know, but i typed up this whole post before i found out about that episode title and was too attached to it to change it lmao plus, i genuinely can't think of enough for rand & co to do in the waste for 6 entire episodes. i could see an argument that they chose this episode title as a general "yeah that's a baller title for a season finale about rand coming into his own in a big moment" rather than as a specific "this episode focuses on rand coming into his own in a strictly-aiel-related way" (see: 2x07 just being about general political shenanigans rather than literal daes dae'mar). rand pulling callandor from the stone while surrounded by his aiel followers could still be a "he who comes with the dawn" moment, okay!
so i will leave this post as is, but if indeed 3x08 only takes us up to alcair dal (and the moiraine & lanfear yeeting which i think will be this episode no matter what), that actually doesn't change my structure too much. basically it'd just be slowing down both the waste & tanchico crew's plotlines and having their climaxes be still in the waste & tanchico respectively, and then we can do a travel timeskip between seasons and have s4 open with the waste crew taking tear or cairhien and the tanchico crew meeting up with them there. i do strongly believe that mat, elayne, and nynaeve will join up with rand & co for s4 and skip their whole salidar/ebou dar detours, because that positions mat to form the band and have his Dragon's General storyline in s4, positions elayne to spend time with rand and aviendha and potentially join rand in retaking caemlyn and then just stay there to start her succession, and positions nynaeve to spend time with lan in the immediate aftermath of moiraine's "death" and then join up with elayne's or rand's future storyline. for these 3, salidar & ebou dar are filler sidequests rather than Main Story storylines imo and it could be quite efficient to cut those out and just distribute the handful of Main Story elements from them into other Main Story storylines.
