Daily Fic Highlight: Abundance

Today's winner of the kudos email is:

"Abundance" is a SkekGra/UrGoh fic in which SkekGra and UrGoh are able to do something they both wanted to do in Incarnation but couldn't manage without pain, that is, fucking with SkekGra as the receptive and UrGoh as the penetrating partner. UrGoh's spent a lot of time planning to make sure this goes well. And it does.

And naturally we learn a little more about how they are with each other, their characters, how they're growing and changing around each other, etc., on the way. 19,633 words, E, M/M.

I predicted this would be less than 20K words (when it was 16K words) and I was right! This will be the only accurate prediction of that kind I will ever make.

SkekGra felt his hot breath an instant before he pressed his tongue against a mostly-healed raw spot on SkekGra’s shoulder—a remnant from the first brace—and slowly dragged it up the thin, tender skin. SkekGra made a confused noise at the confused sensation and UrGoh pulled back. “Too much?” “Not—not in a way that means stop,” SkekGra said. “Mystic pervert. You felt some of that, too.”

You decide to go look for the cat in the front yard.

As you trot around the side of the house, you pause and look at the sky. One night not long ago you woke up to the sound of strange thunder; when the sun rose, you could see smoke rising from the ground very far away. The smoke scares your favorite people, so you had hoped it would go away, but there was more of the thunder last night- this time much louder- and now the smoke is close enough to smell. Sometimes you hear distant sounds that remind you of Ishaan's gun, if his gun shot much faster. The hair on your back raises and an involuntary growl escapes you, but you know the smoke is still too far away for you to do anything, so you turn your attention back to the farm. If nothing else, perhaps your favorite people will be a little bit happier when they see how much you're helping out!

You go to find the cat, expecting it to be a long and confusing ordeal, only to find him right by the front door. It's almost like he wants to be found today.

His name is King (or King Fluffypants, or King of Crushed Plants, or Kingy Boy, or many other things), and unlike most other animals and people you've met (including other cats, even!), he never reacts when you or your people try to tell him things. You think he's just too stupid. Still, Ser loves him, and he loves Ser, so you love King too and keep trying to talk to him. Sometimes the two of you even play together, although often “play” means he just disappears and you can't find him again until he tackles you. But right now, he sits on a potted plant, staring at you and the smoke behind you. He seems a bit worried.

Daily Fic Highlight: Hummingbird

Today's winner of the kudos email is:

"Hummingbird" is the first fic I wrote in what would quickly become the Pitch/Sandy cannibalistic serial killer AU that is tagged on my blog as "Blood Red Blacksand." At this point, it's mostly a straightforward Silence of the Lambs AU, with Tooth as Clarice and Sandy as Hannibal Lecter. Tooth meets with Sandy in prison and tries to get information from him regarding the case she's working on. 4008 words, T, Gen.

This wasn't part of my prompt-filling project for Round 1 of the Rise of the Guardians Dreamwidth Kinkmeme, but it was a response to two serial killer-themed prompts in Round 2 and 3.

If I do say so myself, I really like how creepy I made Sandy in this one.

Finally, she reaches the end of the hallway and the small folding chair she focused on during her walk. Taking a slightly deeper breath than the ones that preceded it, she turns to get her first look at Sanderson Mansnoozie. He is rising from his own chair, smiling graciously at her. He gestures, and after a moment of confusion, Tooth realizes he is offering her a seat. In the chair placed by one of the guards of his prison. She doesn’t sit down, and Mansnoozie remains standing. “Good morning,” he says, in a welcoming voice, as soothing as any lullaby. “Please, take a seat. You’ve walked quite a long way to get here.” “Dr. Mansnoozie,” Tooth begins, “I’m Agent Tooth, with the FBI. I understand you were informed I would be visiting you today.” “I was informed of a visit, certainly, but not that my guest would be a lovely young lady. I’m very sorry I cannot offer you a gathering with better company, but they gave me so little time to arrange things. May I inquire as to what has occasioned your call?” “I’m with Behavioral Science,” Tooth answers. “I’m part of a team working to track down a new serial killer who is active currently. There are aspects of the case that we felt would be useful to ask another—serial killer—about, hopefully in order to better understand this new killer’s motives.” She stumbles over calling Mansnoozie a serial killer. She’s studied his case intensively, but now, in front of him? There’s nothing about him that seems dangerous. In fact, he looks almost angelic. Cherubic. Short, plump, and rosy-cheeked despite the lack of sunshine down here, with shining blond hair doing its best to curl despite the short prison haircut. He gathers his lips in a moue of disappointment. “Alas! I was so hoping you were one of my admirers.” He glances fondly at one of the walls of his cell. Tooth can’t help but stare. It’s covered from floor to ceiling with layer upon layer of letters. “I only save the best ones, of course,” he says, turning back to her and smiling. He has a small gap between his front teeth.
