I have so so very much to say about Chayanne and Tallulah so buckle up mfer’s this one is gonna be a long one!!!
Ahem, now that that’s out of the way…
I’ve been thinking a lot about these two while they were away, and especially now that they’re back. I was thinking to myself that they were really starting to give me the vibe of two siblings who have become MASSIVELY codependent on each other. And for a while I was all “oh they’re kids and it’s adorable so I’m gonna let this slide”, and while I do still think they’re adorable, since they’ve came back it’s become really blatantly obvious how attached to each other they are.
There’s nothing wrong with that! They basically have grown up together, been through a lot of traumatizing shit, and have rarely if at all left each other’s side during all those months that Tallulah lived with them. It makes sense that they’d be very attached to each other.
But I think now that Tallulah has started to really embrace the fact that Wilbur is probably not coming back, and she’s starting to move forward and heal from it, we’re getting to see her step into her independence a little more. She has her safety net, Phil and Chayanne and all the other eggs and parents on the island who love her dearly, so now she’s ready to take a step away from them all to be herself and independently herself. Which we see in her wanting to stay overnight in her house alone now, instead of in the bunker with Chayanne and Phil. It’s not because she doesn’t love and care for them, but because she wants to make her own space. Kinda like growing up in a way!
I think Purgatory really taught her a lot about herself in all honesty. She wasn’t alone even after she got separated from the rest of her siblings. She had Ramon and Dapper, but while they care about her and no doubt made an effort to make sure she was safe, it most likely wasn’t the almost overbearing overprotectiveness of Chayanne. I think her being out there with those two taught her a lot about exactly what she’s capable of when she is on her own to define herself.
When it comes to Chayanne, I think Purgatory and the weeks before taught him the exact opposite.
From the day he met Tallulah, he’s been responsible for protecting her. It’s evolved since then to encompass all of his siblings, but with Tallulah it’s a more pressuring responsibility. He’s the oldest, he needs to take care of them all, but he especially needs to take care of Tallulah. It’s a weird mixture between obligation, put on him by his dad, Wilbur, and himself, and a genuine love for his sister. When all the eggs returned from being basically in a coma for a week, Chayanne was apologizing to Tallulah so much. Not because he did anything wrong, but because for weeks he had no idea if she was safe or in danger, alive or dead, and he had no way of knowing if his decision to take all of his siblings and flee that night had been the right call or not. For all he knew during those weeks of Purgatory, Tallulah could have been dead and it would have been all his fault.
This poor kid probably had no idea what to do with himself, and I guarantee it was Leo’s presence that kept him from going crazy with worry and anxiety. He had to focus on making sure Leo was safe, therefor he couldn’t afford to worry himself sick over Tallulah.
Protecting others is and was what defined Chayanne for so long. His very identity became tied solely to what he can do and provide for his siblings, and specifically that he can protect and take care of Tallulah when the adults aren’t there (and even when they are in most cases). But now that Tallulah is taking that step away, that step into independence and towards functioning herself as a separate entity to him, he’s been thrown for a loop.
Without her there, he isn’t sure what space to take up himself, and hell I don’t think he even really knows how to define himself if it isn’t as the protector of his sister. Even on today’s stream, when Tallulah decided to sleep alone in her house again, Chayanne spent a few minutes in the basement unsure of where he should even sleep that night, like where she slept was what was guiding him. Without her, he’s vulnerable and he feels that vulnerability so deeply that it completely turns his world upside down. So he reaches out to his dad to guide him instead, to tell him that he made the right decision getting all of his siblings out of there, to invite him to sleep next to him for the night, to tell him that things will work out and there’s no point in dwelling on the past.
I love these two siblings dearly, but I do really hope that the admins continue writing their characters growing independently from each other. Not only because I think it’s good for their characters, but because I also think it’s good for some internal conflict.

Actually, one more thing about q!sandduo. What gets me really insane about them is that both of them apologised to each other with the hour. Like Phil apologises for snapping and Wilbur for implying that Phil doesn’t care “It is serious isn’t it?”.
The only real struggle they had was the emotional disconnect. The has been dealing with this for a month and has learned to cope while doing everything he can to get the kids back vs. Only just found out about the kids being missing and doesn’t understand why everyone isn’t freaking out as much (at first without knowing it’s been a month).
But then they take time to reflect and start to get the other viewpoint back they are trying to understand each other and they kinda need each other since the rest of their family is missing.
Also some details I got from watching Phil’s vod: he’s purposely stalling telling Wilbur and claiming he’ll do it when Wilbur comes to him (which is also for RP reasons, but shhhh), sent Niki to hang out with Wilbur and kinda distract him “fill him in but don’t tell him about the eggs”. When learning about the eggs, Wilbur first asks about Chayanne and then Tallulah -> naive hope that may it’s all the eggs except Phil’s. (Btw Phil often checks where Wilbur is throughout the stream which could be seen as a cc thing, but can also be incorporated as q!Phil thing aka looking out for his son (I think that’s cannon?) / being overprotective . Lastly, Phil is the one to apologise first and only after that does Wilbur apologise. (Also both of them asking each other how they are and claiming they are fine when they aren’t)
-🌲
andddd another old ask about q!sandduo sorry i really meant to get to these earlier but here we are
the thing about sandduo is that no matter what universe they're in they're always going to have an emotional disconnect. they always try to understand each other but can never quite bridge the gap between them. but they try.
both of their viewpoints during that argument made perfect sense. later they both self reflect, wilbur less so and phil more so, but they both apologize in the end.
oh that's interesting i didn't know phil purposefully told niki to stall wilbur and not tell him about the eggs. it makes sense. he didn't want to have wilbur find out from someone else. probably just made it worse in the end though for him to find out in that damn maze of all places.
(also technically q!sandduo being father and son is... not exactly canon but it's not not canon? canonically what we know is on the train to the island wilbur saw phil and was like "huh he's dad shaped" and phil saw wilbur and was like "huh he's son shaped" and the two just got a found family father son dynamic out of it. but technically they're not related and haven't even known each other that long. i honestly kind of like the interpretation that they're closer to just being friends who have this strong almost familial connection to each other but aren't quite sure what to do about. idk I think it's an interesting alternative dynamic to sandduo we don't normally see, and this is coming from the resident sandduo enjoyer so. idk it's fun to look at them from different angles!)

Being the youngest person in Dream Smp Part 2
Pairings: c!Wilbur x Read (Platonic) Dream Smp x Reader (Platonic)
Pronouns: They/Them
Requested?: Yes! by my darling followers
Warnings: A lot of swearing like a lot. Mentions of killing, anger issues, mentions of betrayal, threatening people,. And signs of yandere father wilbur
Note: This is pretty cringy so beware!
Tumblr media
Where were we?
Oh right
Schlatt and Quackity won the election
Schlatt wanted you to stay with him in 'Manburg'
But
He revoked your father and your best friend's citizenship
So you ran with them and didn't accept his 'offer'
You couldn't even remember who Schlatt was
Why would he want you to stay?
You were just a poor eleven year old stuck in a war between your loved ones.
You, Tommy and your dad Wilbur lived in Pogtopia
You noticed your dear father being slightly paranoid and crazy...?
You couldn't say anything tho
Because you weren't in the right state of mind either
Your brother Fundy betrayed you, and your dad well...
Your brother tore down the walls Wilbur made to protect you and him
To say you were angry would be a big understatement
Again remember
ANGER ISSUES GANG
aNyWaYs
Tubbo became your spy
Technoblade came!
He liked you
You reminded him of his younger self
Except the voices
You found Techno pretty pog
He trained you because your father wanted him to
Ah
Your father
Yeah...
He became very overprotective of you
It was almost scary
But he was your dad
He was your first love
Your hero
He couldn't be bad
He just wanted the best for you
Right?
"I just want the best for you my little star."
"You shouldn't be around the Americans sweetheart"
"If you ever make eye contact with Schlatt again I will lock you in Pogtopia Y/N!"
"That man is bad darling"
"You know I will never hurt you my angel"
"Schlatt...? He is nothing to you. Don't you dare say his name again little star."
Tommy was worried
You were only allowed to go out with Techno or Wilbur by your side
You looked tired
Maybe it was because of your little trainings with your dad and Techno
Tommy wanted to help you
You were like his little sibling
So
He tried to be a lot quiet when he was with you
He didn't want you to have a head ache or something
Tubbo
Tubbo...
You liked Tubbo
You were his other best friend!
But
You couldn't help but let your dad manipulate you
Now you didn't trust Tubbo
You couldn't trust anyone except your dad
Last time you trusted someone they betrayed you
TWICE
The festival came
And just like you imagined
Someone betrayed you and your father again
Technoblade killed Tubbo
You didn't say anything
You couldn't...
Like let's not forget you are a kid
An innocent little kid
Your father started talking about blowing up L'manburg
You were shocked.
It was your fucking country
You lived there, loved there, you were practically raised there.
And now
He was talking about blowing it all up
"Are you fucking kidding me?!"
"Do not use that language with me Y/N"
"What are you gonna do? Blow up my room or something?"
"Stop talking Y/N"
"Oh for fuck's sake Techno, you can't talk after the shit you pulled at the festival. You killed Tubbo!"
"That is enough Y/N go to your room now!"
"Fuck you all!"
Wilbur was worried.
He thought he was doing the right thing
He would blow up L'manburg and would live happily ever after with his family somewhere else
You were starting to act different
Was it because of him?
Nah nah that couldn't be it
It was probably because of all the Schlatt thing.
Schlatt
His old pal
He still didn't tell you about how Schlatt left you
Because Wilbur knew you would lose it
You were already angry with him about his decisions
So he decided that he would never ever tell you about Schlatt
Will stop making stupid decisions istg-
Hem Hem
UM
Anyways
Dream helped you guys
Then he left
LIKE BITCH TF?
So your trust issues became how do you say it?
Umm your trust issues went 📈
Never trusting anyone again yayyyyyyyy
Thanks Dream 🙄
Quackity came
He said he had enough of schlatt and wanted to join Pogtopia
Pogtopians of course said yes
But you were like
NO???????????????
You bit his hand (go bestie 😍💅😜😩/j)
That's canon btw you really did bite his hand when he tried to ruffle your beautiful hair
Look, you liked Quackity
BUT
It was BEFORE the whole Schlatt thingy
And you would have gladly accepted him and other ex-manbergians
IF YOUR TRUST ISSUES WEREN'T THERE
Niki was concerned and worried
You were like her little sibling/child
She cooked you cookies and cakes and all the other things you liked
Than the others came
Your brother
Fundy
He joined you and your father
How could he? You once asked yourself
How dare he? You now asked yourself
He tore down the fucking walls of your and your dad's country
He betrayed you
He betrayed you just like everyone did.
You had enough.
You know what happened next besties?
Yeah you probably guessed it right
"HOW DARE YOU COME HERE AND ASK TO JOIN US YOU- YOU WANKER!"
"Y/N please just liste-"
"I AM GONNA KILL YOU AND EVERYONE YOU LOVED ARSE-HOLE"
"Okay Y/N that's enough." said Technoblade trying to hold you back with your father helping him.
You tried to fucking kill Fundy
You tried to kill your brother-
You really didn't know what got into you
You were just blinded by rage
Techno and Wilbur helped you calm down.
Finally the war came.
The final war.
And you all know what happened
Schlatt died from heart attack
You were pretty surprised.
Like all these things only for him to die from heart attack????
Like tf????
And
Your father did what he promised to do.
He blew up L'manberg
Your home.
Your land
Your country
He blew it all up.
Rage
Sadness
Betrayal
That's all you felt
Then something unexpected happened
Your grandfather came
and...
He killed your dad
Your father
Your role model.
Your guardian
Your first love.
He killed your hero.
Even though he blew up your country
You didn't want your dad to die.
A new emotion came quickly.
Grief
You screamed
You screamed as loud as you can
Everyone in L'manberg could hear your screams of grief
Everyone in L'manberg's heart broke once more
You were their baby
Their sibling
But this war and this country had ruined you too
Ruined you and left you only with the worst thing
Grief.
Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance
Those were the five stages of grief said Technoblade once
But they didn't know Y/N Soot.
And they weren't ready for the new you.
Ah yes the five stages of grief.
You were ready to make it six and add
𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐄

hey!! could i have some family hurt/comfort with the sbi (technoblade, wilbur, tommy & phil) with a sister reader? have a good day!! :)
Hell yeah you can! Hope you enjoy!
Sleepy Bois Inc & Sister!Reader (Female)
Warnings: Mentions of some family issues, breakups and disagreements, Swearng
Genre: Hurt/Comfort
Technoblade
You and Techno haven't always been on the best of terms with him being an overprotective and overdramatic older brother and you his bratty younger sister who never wants to listen to him. That has often ended with him snitching on you to your parents which has only resulted in worse conflicts.
However, when your parents cut you off because you dropped out of college to pursue your dreams, his was the shoulder you cried on. His was the apartment you stayed in and the couch you slept on. With your limited knowledge of video and audio editing you helped out with his videos as much as you could while working your ass off with two jobs to provide you enough money for a secure future and also to compensate for living in your brother's apartment.
Truth be told, it hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows for you in the world. Luckily, Techno is always there for you, building a one man support system for you.
"I don't know if I'm good enough to make it big, Tech. Maybe mom and dad were right. I'm just a dumb child that never wants to settle and put effort into anything." You whined one night, emotions a little amped by the few drinks you had with your colleagues after work. The two of you were sitting on the floor with your backs resting on the bottom of the couch lazily as you barely paid attention to some action movie he had chosen.
"First of all, mom and dad are rarely right, Y/N. If we listened to them, holy shit!" He chuckled, getting a laugh out of you too, "Second of all, you're the least dumbest child. Yeah, you may have some childish tendencies such as tantrums, but that doesn't change the fact that you're one of the most determined people I've ever met. And third..." He clinks his glass of water against yours. "You're not good enough, you're better than that."
Long story short, you’re on far better terms now than you have ever been before.
---------------------------------------
Wilbur Soot
Wilbur and you may be twins but you’re polar opposites of one another but there’s one love you share - art. He’s chosen music, you’ve chosen theatre and have been pursuing an acting career for a long time while the band he’s in flourished. You often found yourself celebrating his successes alongside him and his bandmates, allowing yourself to momentarily forget your own failures.
“I swear I’m one rejection away from just becoming a barista or a waitress cause I’m clearly not cut out for this actress shit.“ You complained to him one time while the two of you sat around as he wrote lyrics for a new song that had popped up in his mind.
“Maybe you’re not...“ He said absentmindedly, not looking up from his notebook.
“Gee, thanks.“ You rolled your eyes, twirling a pen between your fingers.
“No, I mean it. You’re maybe not cut out for this but for something else.“ With that being said, he handed you the notebook where he’d written down a short verse. He smiled at you, nodding at the messily written lyrics, “Sing it as you think it should sound.“
You maybe had been unsure then, but your present self is more than happy - because she’s now in Lovejoy herself.
------------------------------------
Tommyinnit
Tommy and you bickered on good terms frequently but then again there were times when you’d be real shits to each other. Despite being older, you never followed through with the rule of letting him win, refusing to give into his bratty behavior even more.
But even Tommy knows his limits and he knew that the last thing you needed was his mocking and infuriating comments when you came back home in tears. You were supposed to meet with your boyfriend and it didn’t take the then 12 year old blonde to put two and two together and feel the immense need to kick that jerk’s ass.
“Hey, you ok, Y/N?“ He cautiously asked, resting on the stair banister as if afraid to climb down the last few stairs to get to your sobbing form that had curled up on the couch in a self-protective fetal position.
“Go away, Tommy.“ You’d weakly said. You didn’t want him to see you like this. You were a full blown legal adult which is mainly why you felt like the biggest fucking loser, sobbing like a child in front of your brother.
Tommy stayed quiet, climbing down the last few stairs and approaching the couch as if coming close to a rabid animal. You were lying with your back turned to him so you hadn’t seen him come closer which is why his voice startled you.
“Wanna egg his house?“
That’s when you knew the kid was onto something.
You turned to look at him with this menacing look in your eyes which his mirrored right back at you, “Hell fucking yeah.“
Who knew that just three years later you’d be egging the house of his ex - what can I say, good times.
-----------------------------------
Philza
It’s safe to say you were a united front about everything growing up, doing shit together so both of you could get in trouble accordingly to avoid one running off scot-free. To be fair, there was a likelier chance you’d be allowed to pursue you shenanigans no matter what they were. You’d flay some sporty games he came up with and he’d agree to play your artsy games like painting and redesigning old clothing.
That clothing is still in your apartment which you two share, now both in the shenanigans of streaming and content creating on several platforms with you being more into DIY stuff and him gaming but that was to be foreseen.
“Y/N!“
“What?!”
“Can you make a design for my merch!?“
“Say no more!”
All his merch he owes to you, but he never fails to mention to his friends and fans how lucky he is to have such a talented sister. You consider yourself the lucky one though - without Phil you’d never be able to show your true talent.

thinking. sbi fics are written very . . . stereotypically. which i know we’ve discussed time and time before. but it’s still very weird.
there’s no natural bonding really from what i’ve seen. as in like, techno, wilbur, and tommy are either constantly at each other’s throats fighting, or trauma bonding after some horrible experience. it’s two ends of a spectrum with no in between. the fighting is mostly playful bickering with no real harm, but even then, they don’t really Hang Out. whenever they’re together and bonding about something it’s typically related to tommy’s one of their traumas, and overcoming it. and i’m not saying showing healing and having others be there for that healing is a bad thing. but there’s no normalcy. no down time in between those moments where they’re just allowed to Exist in each other’s presence. which is kind of weird to me. it gives off a weird vibe of either overwhelming protection or suffocating bickering, and doesn’t allow them to be fully realized characters.
phil is a whole other story, because i feel like he’s never allowed to just be a dad. yeah, he’s this whole overprotective character that’s always a shoulder for tommy one of them to cry on, and the Responsible Adult that can sweep away all the horrors but. he falls to the same extreme. he’s either only bonding with them when he’s being the responsible peacemaker, or when there’s trauma that needs to be resolved. where’s the normal interactions? where’s the goofy dad jokes and being there for his kids interests? does he even have a life outside of this? who is he outside of his children? what are his interests? does he have them? why don’t we see him partaking in them like we see techno sword fighting or wilbur singing or tommy doing . . . whatever tommy does?
why aren’t they allowed to have normal family moments between each other that’s not constantly riddled with either strife or trauma?

Being the youngest
Thanks so much to my new beta readers! I couldn’t have done this without them.
Sleepy bois inc x reader
notes: this is for a friend which I met not-so-long ago, but already like very much, if you’re reading this, remember; you are loved! (also, anon with the request of did!reader, I’m gonna make your request, just wait a little cause I gotta make some searching) LMAO, I PUBLISH THIS ON THE WRONG BLOG
request: yes, but from discord
summary: You are the youngest sibling from the SBI family, and you couldn’t be more happy about it.
wordcount: 1017
tw: swearing, shouthing (but only a bit)
A long time ago, philza and techno were starting one of those adventures, when they heard a cry.
A baby’s cry
Naturally, Philza, being the dad he is, goes straight to the baby and carries it in his arms.
“Philza, we can’t adopt another child”
Techno was sure of his opinion, until philza turned around, the small eyes of the child connected with his own.
When he saw how the tiny hand reached out to him, barely holding his finger, he knew he couldn’t leave you there
His heart melted
Philza smirked at his eldest son's reaction, but didn’t say anything.
He let Techno carry the baby while going home.
Once home, tommy is the first they encounter
“dad? why are you back so-”
he sees the baby
“oh”
He’s really happy
“I’m not the youngest! POG!”
And then, wilbur appears
“Dad? techno? I thought you were going on another mission?”
wilbur look at the baby, and was the least impress
“guess I have another sibling”
being philza’s child
He is a chill dad, you can’t convince me otherwise
he just… learnt how to live with the constant chaos
you’re the calmest of the family, which he is glad
seriously, this family is way too chaotic
though, if anyone got hurt his chill persona would drop in an instant
Also, you being the youngest means that sometimes he would treat you like a baby
He knows his children are growing, but he can’t let go yet
he will eventually, just not yet
he isn’t scared to tell his family how much he adores them, so expect lots of love whenever you’re feeling down
He’s a great dad
but the one time you went away to prove you’re capable of taking care of yourself, he… wasn’t so chill.
the only reason he couldn’t panic was because wilbur was already panicking over you
Being techno’s younger sibling
Remember when he first saw you?
the voices went crazy
He doesn’t usually likes children, but you were *his* exception
and tommy, but let’s not talk about it
He is adamant on you NOT going on adventures
but it’s not like you don’t know how to take care of yourself, he taught you how to fight and defend yourself “just in case”
So it becomes kind of a challenge at some point
You were going to prove him wrong
so you go into your own adventure, entering a forest till late at night
except… you got lost
oopsie
So, with a torch in hand, you began to look a way home
unfortunately for you, you met lots of monsters in the way
you’re running from zombies and spiders, doging skeleton’s arrows and trying your best to not make eye contact with any enderman
but you fail to see a creeper a side of you, which send you flying towards the top of a tree
you were hurt, cried a little from the pain, but you wouldn’t give up without a fight
so, you manage to make a wood sword and come down the tree, ready to attack
except
there are no monster anymore, and there are a lot of torches everywhere
“What THE FUCK did you think you were doing?!”
that took you by surprise, you jumped in fear and turn around
well crap
there he was, in all his glory, your eldest brother. Boy, he was mad.
“seriously, what the fuck were you thinking?! you got everyone worried-sick!”
you were not gonna cry, you were not gonna cry, you were not gonna cr-
you were crying
he was still mad, but seeing you cry softened his expression
“y/n, no, don’t cry-”
you aggressively try to dry your tears to no avail, he sighs and crouches down to your height
“look, I know I’m being overprotective, I know”
you look at him expectant
“but I… I only do it cause I love you, and I care about you”
you slowly stop crying while hugging him
“let’s… let’s go home, dad is gonna be glad you’re safe”
philza obviously grounds you, but next not-so-dangerous mission techno allows you to come along
eventually, you grow up enough to go on missions on your own
and techno couldn’t be more proud
Being wilbur’s younger sibling
out of all yours brothers, he is the sweetest one
he just cares so much
and he will not hesitate to show you love
when you were little, he would play songs for you to make you sleep
then, when you grow up a little, he will try teaching you play guitar
try
you two will sing along songs all the time
he is the most protective, and the second most jealous
When you went missing, philza had to calm him down to not go straight into the forest without something to defend you and himself
if you ever got hurt, he goes absolutely apeshit
and if someone hurt you?
That’s when his most sadistic side comes to light
Being tommy’s younger sibling
remember when I said you were the most calm?
i lied
tommy is the closest to you, given the small age gap
and he brings the most chaotic side of you
you guys are the power duo
and you also hang out with tubbo and ranboo
also, pranks all the time
especially on dream
he gets so pissed, but dream knows that if he lays a single finger on you he won’t live to tell it
tommy is indeed, the most jealous one
you’re HIS little sibling
he likes both ranboo and tubbo, but if they spend too much time with you he’ll complain that  they’re being clingy
he is the clingy one
he fights with techno for not letting you go on missions to no avail
when you went away in your own mission, you alone, he couldn’t help but be worried
he knew you better, he knew you could stay alive until someone found you
but still
he cheered you up while you were grounded
he was the most hyped when they finally let you out on a mission
he just loves you too much

Hi! I am/was a neglected kid so i am semi on Fundy's side by default, which gives me a bias i am trying to break. And since i came to fandom later I was told a big reason Fundy apologists "dislike" Alivebur was the fact "I despise you" made Espionage Arc have no real payoff which I'm inclined to superficially agree. I was wondering if there were any vods youd reccomend i could watch to break my preconceived thoughts/bias?
Hi, Anon.
Here’s some vods at the timestamps that are probably important to watch (X, X, X, X, X, X, X, X). They show Alivebur as a father, and also him getting disowned, as well as the despise quote itself.
But I’m gonna take your ask as an excuse to do some analysis, so hope you don’t mind!!!
I feel like I should tread carefully here since you said you are/were neglected but ummm...
Okay, so, in my eyes, Alivebur was the exact opposite to neglectful. If anything he was an overbearing and protective father who thought Fundy was far too young for any kind of power - hence why he never gave him any proper government position.
Here are a couple quotes where Alivebur mentions that Fundy is too young:
“That means you’ve got like a week till Fundy’s in charge of L’Manberg.” (Tommy)
“Nah, Fundy’s too young.” (Alivebur)
- (Wilbur’s video The Great War of the Dream SMP: 26:40)
and
“Don’t give him promotions he’s too young, he doesn’t understand.” - (Wilbur’s video Building the Resistance: 11:08)
This is likely because, as mentioned by Ghostbur, that around the time of the election, Fundy was fourteen. Which also means he was younger during the Independence War, and still fairly young at the beginning of the Pogtopia era.
Here’s the quotes:
“Last time I spoke to Fundy was… erm. When I announced I was running for President, and you said that you were also gonna run. That was the last time I remember.” - (Fundy’s Being Adopted: 1:00:43, 27th Nov)
“He’s very young, he’s only like fourteen.” - (Fundy’s Being Adopted: 1:03:12, 27th Nov)
“Phil, do you know how old Fundy is? I think he was very young when I remember, but I don’t know if he’s gotten older since.” - (Fundy’s Being Adopted: 1:03:23, 27th Nov)
The implication here is that Ghostbur doesn’t know if Fundy has gotten older since he last remembers, but Ghostbur last remembers talking to Fundy at the election.
This implies that the “He’s very young, he’s only like fourteen” means that Fundy was fourteen around the time of the election, but has gotten older since then, implied from Ghostbur asking Phil how old Fundy is. (If you wanna see more on this, here’s an analysis about the whole age thing)
With this in mind, it makes sense why Alivebur would baby Fundy and be overprotective, to the point where he gave him no responsibility. It comes from a good place, but Fundy didn’t like it all that much.
It seems with both Alivebur and Fundy, their relationship was good up until the exile. This is also further backed up by what Phil said about Alivebur being a good dad:
“Will, for good portion of your life, you were the best dad. You were great. But, at some point, you took a turn and... things got messy.” - (Wilbur’s Amangus with new and old friends: 1:59:37, 24th Nov)
That turn Phil is referring to? That’s Pogtopia, and something very notable happens with Alivebur and Fundy two weeks before Alivebur took that turn.
See, Alivebur has a very justified reason in hating Fundy, it’s not for no reason, not at all (full analysis on that here). He’s justified because, Fundy disowned him:
“Wilbur is just a founder, and I was born here and nothing else. That’s literally everything there is to it.” (Fundy)
“But you know that’s not…” (Alivebur)
- (Wilbur’s techno and wilbur make cave better: 58:20, 23rd Sep)
We have no idea if this was just for show as a spy, or if this was legit, but no matter what Fundy’s intentions were, he disowned Alivebur when he was right there, and it contributed into breaking him.
The paranoia Alivebur had in the latter half of Pogtopia? Part of it comes from Fundy. He literally claims to not even be related, at all. It’s not just disowning, it’s denying that Alivebur was ever his father.
That’s bound to hurt and break Alivebur down, and not to mention, Alivebur was hurt when Fundy wasn’t on his side at the elections, so this is so much worse.
After the above quote, Alivebur is silent for half a minute before saying this:
“I don’t know who you are anymore, Fundy. I don’t know who you are anymore…” - (Wilbur’s techno and wilbur make cave better: 59:08, 23rd Sep)
This is a major quote that gets overlooked. Alivebur thought he knew his son, but after he was disowned, he says this in a tone that seems as if he’s on the brink of tears. Losing Fundy like this hurt Alivebur deeply, but nobody ever takes it into consideration when talking about their relationship.
This is what makes Alivebur wholeheartedly believe that Fundy was on Schlatt’s side. And it definitely contributes to his paranoia. But what hurts the most, one of the quotes that matters the most, is when Alivebur, two weeks after the disowning, says Fundy was all he cared about in L’Manberg:
“Fundy, Fundy is very clearly on Schlatt’s side, look- Fundy was the closest thing I had to something I cared about in L’Manberg, when it all began. You know, when it started, the closest thing to anything I cared about was Fundy. Fundy was my, he was my, he was my boy! My rock! You know? And hearing what he said about L’Manberg and stuff is just… And when I heard him say that he had no care for me, I believe that. I think he’s so happy that he’s finally been given maturity in L’Manberg, you know. Like, Schlatt’s giving him the maturity he’s been craving, you know. And that’s cool. That’s fine. You know? I have no issue with that, he can do what he wants.” - (Wilbur’s who are you go away: 1:44:10, 8th Oct)
Alivebur believed 100% that Fundy didn’t care about him, that breaks a parent no doubt. People act like Fundy never hurt Alivebur, and that he was unjust in his hatred but... that’s not true at all. Alivebur lost everything when his son betrayed him, because he had already lost his nation, his son was the last thing he had.
But Alivebur is also self-aware to why it happened, talking about how Schlatt gives him the maturity Fundy had wanted. He knows how his own actions and words had led to this, maybe even knowing he had hurt Fundy.
Which finally leads us onto the despise quote itself:
“Fundy, I despise you, you were my son and you just betrayed me. I have nothing to say to you.” (Wilbur’s The Meeting: Nov 6th, 35:55)
It’s not fair to take this quote out of context, like so many do. On its own, without everything else in mind, sure it looks bad, but with how Fundy hurt Alivebur, how it broke him, it makes a lot of sense.
After weeks - possibly even years in the SMP timeline - of believing Fundy had betrayed him and wanted nothing to do with him, Fundy walks back into his life and reveals he’s a spy. Not only is Alivebur going to find it hard to trust that, but he’s also not going to forgive Fundy straight away.
He had been hurt for weeks, if not possible years, of course he’s not just going to say he loves Fundy and move onto the plan. Yes, despise is a strong word, but look at the latter half of the quote.
“You were my son and you just betrayed me.” - This is one of the most important parts but no one ever talks about it! It can be implied from this that Alivebur sees family as the strongest bond, since this line implies he wouldn’t have expected a betrayal from his own son.
Which is why he despises him, which is why he as nothing to say to him.
Alivebur is a complex man, but pretty clear cut as a parent. He was overbearing, too protective, trying to keep his son from responsibility, from following in his footsteps in a leadership position that only caused Alivebur stress (and possibly caused his depression).
He’s a parent who thought he could rely on his son being on his side, only for his son to back his opposition at the debates, only for him to make his own party and then commit voter fraud (which you know like father like son in terms of rigging voting :P), only for him to stay in Manberg and cheer his father’s exile, only for him to disown him and claim he was never his father, only for him to reveal he was a spy wayyy too late.
It’s tragic, this relationship between them. Alivebur hurt Fundy by being overbearing no doubt, but he was never neglectful. The only time Alivebur had nothing to do with Fundy was after Fundy himself betrayed him. I think it’s rather harsh to say he had left him or neglected him with that in mind.
And ultimately, Fundy blames Alivebur for leaving him alone in the world. He still cared and missed him, and says himself that Alivebur left him when he needed him the most. But I also think that’s a bit harsh on why Alivebur died too, he didn’t do it to hurt Fundy, he did it to hurt himself.
Anyway... I hope this helps, Anon. I tried to be real sensitive but, I don’t know, you probably haven’t changed your mind anyway, people are pretty set in this fandom :P
But I really care about this father/son relationship - in fact I talked about it for hours last night with a friend - so I feel like I can sometimes shine a new light on some of the facts :)

Woe, fleshed out HNOC DSMP au be upon ye. HNOC is High Noon Over Camelot, an album that very loosely takes Arthurian myth and throws it into space. With cowboys. Like all Mechs albums, it's dearly beloved to me. You should listen to it.
In this AU Wilbur is Mordred and everyone else fills the roles around him based on that. People die. I'm having a great time.
Starts with the Syndicate rolling up to Camelot and killing the dteam. Yeah. The only concrete role that's filled is that Philza is Arthur. The rest of the Syndicate fall into the general space that Lancelot and Guinevere were. But they're still the Syndicate, so a bunch of anarchy friends. Not a romantic polycule. No stars and night this time, sorry.
Camelot is now an anarchist commune. (Why does the hanged man keep calling Phil the once and future king. We fucking hate kings.) Syndicate sticks around to make sure everything's running smoothly, resources are distributed, nobody tries to make a grab for power.
Ender table!
Once things are stable, Phil goes back for his kids. He returns to a ruined encampment, ransacked by Saxons. Wilbur and Tommy are presumed dead.
Wilbur and Tommy are not, however, dead. The Saxons took them in. This is how they meet Tubbo.
Wilbur grows up and takes in a young Fundy with the same mercy that was shown to him and his brother all those years ago.
Eventually Wilbur leaves Annwn to travel the desolate world. Fundy follows. Tommy does not. Wilbur comes to Camelot and makes a place for him and his son there.
He knows who Phil is. Phil doesn't recognize him. Wilbur doesn't tell.
There's a statue in the town. How the ropes that she hangs from in the gallows have managed to stay sturdy for as long as Camelot has existed, nobody knows. (And nobody has used the gallows for a long, long time either.) Anyways the statue. A regal thing, dressed in foreign clothes, a crown atop her head, a strip of cloth concealing her eyes. A name, carved across her chest reads: ERET. A long time ago, it'd said HEROBRINE, but it's been so long that most of the carving has worn away with age. So all that's left is read as ERET.
Sometimes she speaks. Sometimes she bids people to look into her eyes.
Wilbur looked into her eyes once, and now he won't go near the gallows.
ERET speaks to Phil, who doesn't believe her when she tells him his sons are alive.
ERET speaks to Schlatt, the newcomer. He's ambitious, charismatic, and an asshole. He does not listen to her advice, nor ERET's warnings. (He and Wilbur always seem to find themselves at odds with each other, Wilbur's kindness against his ruthlessness. Wilbur wants to open up Camelot to the Saxons, Schlatt laughs in his face. It's a struggle.)
ERET speaks the most to Fundy, who find himself spending long hours in conversation with her, much to the delight of ERET and the anxiety of Wilbur. One day, ERET tells him to sit at the seat at the head of the Ender table.
The chair! Right. Yeah, you know, the one that has killed one person who tried to sit on it and drove the other mad. That one. Fundy expresses his concern, but ERET thinks he can do it. And he trusts her. And maybe he's tired of Wilbur's overprotectiveness. Maybe if he does this he won't be treated as a child anymore.
The motherfucker pulls it off! Side effect of sitting in the magic chair: nightmares. Drifting in and out of dreaming, half caught up in decades of ship logs of every happenstance on Fort Galfridian.
Because guess what! You've been living on a space station this whole time! Also the space station has long been abandoned and is now slowly falling into the sun. Fuck.
[fundy voice] hey dad I sat in the brain-explodey chair because the statue you're deathly afraid of told me to.
[wilbur voice] you wh-
[fundy voice] also we're all going to die if we don't get the GRAIL
the GRAIL is a key to the ship interface that would allow the user to take command of the ship, turn on all the systems whose absence have made Galfridian such a waterless hellscape, and most importantly, fix the fort's orbit and keep it from falling into the sun.
It's a treacherous journey to reach the GRAIL and the Syndicate puts together a party, with Fundy to guide.
In their absence, Wilbur decides it's his chance. He's been making slow (slow) progress on getting the Saxons let in, but if he brings them now and it works- and it will work -then once the Syndicate comes back to see everyone happy and peaceful, they can't exactly kick the Saxons out now, can they? Once they activate the space station, resources won't be so sparse.
Schlatt won't like it, but Schlatt can't stop him.
So he does! He does convince Tommy and Tubbo and the Saxons who raised him to take a chance with Camelot.
Cut to the Syndicate and Fundy, the GRAIL party travels deeper and deeper into the ship until the only thing between them and their goal is a door. Only to find that it's guarded by two automatic gun turrets that are, unfortunately for Fundy at the head of the party, still active and still very dangerous. (The implication is that he dies, lol.)
It's Technoblade who walks up under the gun turrets, fielding every wave of deadly fire until the guns finally click off, empty.
He doesn't die, tho. Technoblade never dies. Super fucking messed up though, bullet holes and blood everywhere.
[philza voice] what the fuck mate
The previous holder of the GRAIL is the DreamXD, who is stuck in a dormant state in a lifepod. Whatever. The Syndicate kills him lmao.
They get the GRAIL, puts it into the ship operating system. They're told to designate a Captain, and then they realize the GRAIL can only be controlled by one person.
Feels like an issue
Anyways back above, the Saxons meet with the Camelot residents for the first time. The tension is thick enough to bleed syrupy blood if slashed open with a seax knife.
Wilbur steps forward, does not notice the scorpion by his leg. Tubbo does, and draws a knife to kill it. Schlatt sees this and mistakes this for aggression, fucking shoots Tubbo. Everything descends into chaos.
Blood! [Cheering] (Most of the Saxons are dead. Including Tommy.)
This is what I spent all these words building up to! Fuck yeah so much death!
Something breaks in Wilbur at this. After the fight, he follows the trail the Syndicate left.
Meanwhile the Syndicate settles their standoff, mutually agreeing to let Phil take the lead in this. They're about to designate the Captain when there's
Four shots. Three to hearts and heads and throats, one to drop Philza to the floor. The rest of the Syndicate is dead, and Wilbur, tired and bloody, steps out of the shadows (steps over the body of his son outside).
"Father- I'm- I'm sorry."
Whatever was said between the two, it ends with Wilbur carrying his father's wounded body into the lifepod, and FUCKING YEETING HIM INTO THE COLD VOID OF SPACE.
Then he designates himself as Captain, takes control of the space station, and pilots it into the sun.
