'come back with me. leave the facility. before the negotiator arrives, come back with us.' the way corona introduces herself as cam's partner because she knows it would make her furious. ‘maybe you could be the one to melt her icy heart.’ the exes vibes are off the CHARTS but then when nona analyses the shit out of corona she says that actually all corona wants is for camilla to cuddle her ‘but not in a sexy way’ which has me poking them with a stick even MORE. i need to study them like bugs

Coroniphis & Ianthe

Well, I've often seen theories that Corona being forced to "live" as a necromancer while secretly being a cavalier was an allegory for being trans. And... to be honest? I wasn't convinced of it. Because you could technically read every break with social norms in a book as a methaphor for being trans. Until now.

You see, I recently talked to another person and they told me the story of Iphis and Ianthe. It's an ancient myth and the story is basically: a woman gives birth to a child. But the father's threatened to kill it, if it should be a girl, so she raises the child (of whom she thinks it's actually a girl) as a boy and names it "Iphis." (Which is apparently a gender-neutral name.) Iphis then falls in love with a girl named Ianthe - which is a problem though, since she doesn't now about that whole story. So Iphis asks the gods for help and the goddess Isis transformes Iphis to a man.

Thing is, I knew about that story. I just couldn't connect it to Ianthe. I asked myself actually several times, why Ianthe's named Ianthe. All the characters seem to have a name with a hidden meaning and Ianthe... seemed to have none?

But now I think... What if the name Ianthe doesn't tell us something about Ianthe... but about Corona?

Then the whole trans methaphor would likely be true (I mean, come on, that story has some coding) and actually make sense. And Ianthe's name would finally have a meaning.

you’re still here and i’m still here so i guess we’ve (almost) made it through another year. 2022 had weird ups and downs for me but it’s ending on an up so i’m very grateful for that. i drew a lot of art i’m proud of and i hope you guys enjoyed some of it as much as i did :)
