WWE Backlash 2023 - Results
WWE Backlash is in the books and there are a few story lines that have finished and a few more that have started, which will probably get resolved at Night of Champions. There were some surprising performances, some surprising guests and a whole lot of emotion from Zelina Vega. Let's get into the results and see how my predictions played out and what storylines I can predict happening. Bianca Belair vs Iyo Sky - I was right. It looked to be pretty clean match, minus the botch from Bianca when she was trying to show off and dropped Iyo right on her face. It was Bayley who interferred and caused Iyo to lose this match. It was shown that Iyo could have probably won this match, but this interferance that caused her to lose will have some reprecution down the line and may lead to Iyo vs Bayley. Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs Omos (with MVP) - I was wrong. There wasn't much to this match, it was the small guy cutting down the big guy and then doing an off the rope stomp to finish the match. Austin Theory vs Bobby Lashley vs Bronson Reed - I was right. The bathroom break of matches played out as I predicted, almost to a T. Bobby and Bronson cancelled eachother out and Austin swooped in for the victory. Austin's next promo will talk about how he's smart and how he worked the match to his favor Rhea Ripley vs Zelina Vega - I was right. In an outcome that everyone could see coming, Rhea defeated Zelina. The one thing I didn't predict was the crowd just showering Zelina with love. She came in with tears in her eyes and left with tears in her eyes. I honestly don't know how she even saw anything the whole match. She had her spots during the fight, but the biggest spot was her alone in the ring in front of fans and family absorbing the praise. Bad Bunny vs Damian Priest - I was right. Bad Bunny was impressive, but I still am a bigger and bigger Damian Priest fan everytime I see him wrestle. The big surprise was not only The Judgement Day coming out, but Rey Mysterio, The LWO, Carlito and Savio Vega coming out too. Of Course, Carlito did his spot and then busted out an apple for old times sake. Damian may have lost this, but he will move on to bigger and better things The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso) vs Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn - I was wrong. I guess I should have seen this coming, since there wasn't a title on the line. Big cracks in The Bloodline with Solo attacking his own team. This will definately get brought up with Roman Reigns this Friday on Smackdown and maybe we'll get a Solo promo for once. Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar - I was wrong. It was my fault for listening to the internet, what do they know? Cody not only made Brock show color, but got a clean win. Granted, he did attack Brock before the match and weakened him, but what counts is what happens from bell to bell. Cody is heading to probably meet Seth to see who gets to compete at Night of Champions for the new belt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eywNVwWN4h4 Read the full article
