i have mostly given up on trying to get other people to be more plant-based in their diets or be aware of their hypocrisy but i do still feel deeply baffled by it. like i have a friend from back home who regularly posts her beef/chicken/pork dinners but is constantly expressing how cruel she thinks rabbit meat is, which ok i get it you have a pet rabbit. but the other day she posted some instagram stories from visiting a traditional seafood market at south korea, pictures of all these fish and octopuses on display and it’s all so cool and it’s gonna become delicious food and so on. and then a picture of a bucket of turtles, for turtle soup, with a caption about how gross and sad it is that they’re selling turtles for turtle soup. like that’s just ontologically so wrong and so immoral. unlike, you know, the octopus bucket. girl you’re the one at the seafood bazaar ???? like how is it more wrong to have turtle soup than octopus soup????

meat and cheese substitutes arent bad and eating them doesnt make u uncultured or something. but even if they did literally who gives a fuck. being vegan isnt a culture its a political movement that aims to stop the exploitation of animals. you can do that however the hell you plan to.

meat and cheese substitutes make becoming vegan or vegetarian more approachable to people and even if someone is a full-on vegan and still decides to eat them it doesnt matter lmao. u arent a better vegan just because you never eat substitutes.

eating vegan nuggets made the idea of being a vegan so much more possible for me! it was that one stepping stone that i didnt think was possible but it made me realize holy shit! i do not need meat in my life at all and there is nothing for me to miss! n that may seem silly but whatever! it helped me convert and at the end of the day thats what matters

like dude, do you seriously not agree that it’s even just a little cruel to continue eating animals when we’re not only sentient enough to understand that its a life being taken, but completely able to live a healthy lifestyle without animal products?

obviously eat the bacon if you want, who am i to tell you no, but don’t act as if the meat industry is keeping up with human traditions and this is what we were always meant to do when it quite literally couldn’t be farther from the natural way of things/the circle of life.

one thing thats so interesting about being a vegetarian is you get to hear all about everyones hypothetical activism that they care about very deeply when talking specifically about your diet and why it's stupid, but literally will never bring up ever again in any other context

What I hate the very most about meat eating is how it literally preys on the vulnerable.

I'm often told by arrogant meat-eaters the difference between a pet (dog or cat in this example) and a farm animal, is that they wouldn't "eat carnivores".

Why not? I'll tell you why. Because they fight back. Pigs, goats, cows, chickens, sheep... They're sweet souls with complex feelings and thoughts, and they trust humans. And humans take advantage of that.

It's disgusting and unjust.
