BTS of #RWRBMovie: bringing Washington to life
From Washingtonian:
López says he made an effort to keep the depiction of political Washington somewhat authentic: “This is a fairy tale, but for it to work, it has to be grounded in something resembling a recognizable reality. Especially when it comes to the world of DC and the White House.” To that end, the director tapped journalists and Obama-era staffers to help shape the local scenes. The movie’s political speeches were guided by a former political speechwriter. Much of the Washington action takes place in the Oval Office, which in the film is occupied by a Texas-bred President played by Uma Thurman. That character was partly inspired by former Texas state senator Wendy Davis, while The West Wing’s C.J. Cregg and Veep were on the creators’ minds for other White House characters. Though many of the DC references were influenced by conversations with insiders, López himself thought of one zinger that will resonate with Washingtonians. He was trying to imagine what an irritated President’s son might say about a journalist, and he came up with a line about how Politico is a “little wannabe Washington Post website.” “That was from my nasty little brain,” says the director. “Apologies to Politico—it was low-hanging fruit. I hope Politico doesn’t have a film critic.”

Burn the Stage (bts film) was on Disney + just a week after the theater run ended and that streaming deal was made public before the film came out. I don't think aotv has a streaming deal yet as they normally show it off.
--- Aotv is still showing at my local cinema so it could be Trafalgar is waiting until it’s not available elsewhere to start whatever streaming plans they have
--- Don't blame Louis, a streaming deal is far from a god given right and many films never get one
----------------------
A week!! Okay so Trafalgar's exclusivity deals don't have a big built in time buffer as we speculated- but learning that it's still in theaters some places does explain a lot to me about why we haven't heard anything, I didn't know that. As for blaming Louis, if he wants to stream it he can. He may not get a deal with Disney or Netflix (though I am absolutely sure he can get it on some regular platform if he wants, they do lots of things much smaller than BTS films) but there are plenty of ways LTHQ can sell it to the fans, including through his good pals over at Veeps- but as @dogsliampaynedoesntinstagram's tags point out, they may be using ticket data to broker a better deal. I would think pointing at Live from London sales numbers would be more pertinent than in-theater numbers, but both is even better I suppose I think the most important piece of information here is that it's still in theaters which I would assume is the biggest reason why it is not yet streaming; I wish it still was here, I could actually go see it now! But it isn't, and for me and the thousands of others of us without that option, I hope it comes to streaming soon :(

I love Louis but 20€ is a scam.
It’s 6€ more than the price I payed to see him on the big screen. And more that the price of a physical DVD that would actually be mine forever instead of only 48 hours.
yep, it’s about 5€ more expensive than my ticket too. then again, people could organise viewing parties and split the price.. lord knows i’ve spent WAY more on bts livestreams.
i was just curious about current price trends on veeps but i’ve looked it up since i posted that. it’s on the more expensive end of the spectrum.
also.. TIMEZONES? 😅
#julia talks#anonymous#okay sorry i don’t want to immediately shit-talk this whole thing#but it all seems a bit meh??

Today is all about BTS. I finished watching Veep and now I have way too many videos to catch up on. I'll start with those on BANGTANTV and work my way up to Jungkook's last live and Jimin's comeback live. I really have to watch Jimin's Suchwita episode too.
I just watched the On the Street episode and J-Hope was so happy :) He was so excited to shoot with J. Cole, he was totally fan-boying. I had to laugh because they did that weird one-armed-bro-high-five-plus-hand-holding-plus-hug-no-homo-combo thing dudes do about a bazillion times. They had nothing to say and couldn't communicate super well so J. Cole was like "Peace, dude, bring it in" whenever Hobi said or did anything lmao.
The little boy in the MV was too cute! The way Hobi cutely rubbed his beanie was just too adorable. And the boy was so shy! I thought it was so funny that he really couldn't care less about Hobi haha.
Also, Hobi's dancing was so cool! New York really is something else, at least on TV!

Love seeing a glimpse of Amy’s whole outfit in the top left photo. Interesting combination with the leather jacket and more formal skirt...and the beige theme.

Monday night, Louis Tomlinson’s career-defining music festival, Away From Home, took place at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London. A one-day event that Tomlinson entirely curated, himself, was something the Walls singer had been working towards for nearly a year when he had the idea 12 months ago— a free concert, for his fans, to take a stand against the gatekeeping done by ticket prices, and a way to give exposure to smaller artists. He hopes to make the show an annual event placed in different locations each year.
The festival had a massive turnout, hosting roughly 10,000 people, with a lineup including Jess Iszatt, BILK, The Snuts, and Tomlinson, himself, as the headlining act. The show marked the smashing return of Louis Tomlinson to a live stage after his first tour was postponed in early 2020 due to the pandemic. During his set which lasted 70 minutes, fan videos showed how engaged the crowd was. A few times, the audience’s voices matched the power of Tomlinson’s own, building electricity for the return of live music. He was in good spirits, performing at the height of his talent with soaring vocals, feverish frontman-ship, and infectious confidence.
In between delivering a career-best performance, he got emotional addressing the festival and the fans. At one point he stated, “I’ve only done two tour shows before now, and I don’t really know what to expect. Honestly, throughout this whole gig, all I feel is excited about what’s the come. I try in these moments to show you my thanks, but honestly, I can’t even articulate it. I just f****** love all of you.” Even through a screen, one could feel the overwhelming gratitude expressed for his fanbase and the success of the event.
He also premiered a new song at the show— a fuzzed-out, indie-rock track titled ‘Change’ that bubbles into a massive moment for Tomlinson as it feels like it was made to be performed in a festival setting. Seemingly documenting the rambling nostalgia of chasing youth and fleeting youth, it resonates deeper for all those who have had the same bombarding thoughts over the past year due to the pandemic. This only intensifies with hard-hitting lyrics such as “Everything’s changed outside, but I’m still the same inside.” This is his second unreleased track performed live over the past year. The first being the lyrical marvel “Copy of a Copy of a Copy” teased late last year. During the show, Tomlinson confirmed that both of these tracks would make an appearance on his upcoming sophomore album.
Yet, the Away From Home Festival isn’t Louis Tomlinson’s first performance in 18 months. Back in December 2020, Tomlinson put on a live-stream event through Veeps that ended up awarding him the title of “Biggest Solo Male Livestream” of the year with over 160,000 virtual tickets sold worldwide while placing him third for biggest live-stream overall just after Dua Lipa and BTS. This live-stream, Live from London, was done entirely for charity, donating the profits from the show between Fare Share, Crew Nation, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, and Stagehand. He also gave proceeds to his own touring crew.
Saturday, September 4th, Louis Tomlinson will be hosting a live-streaming event for all those who couldn’t attend the Away From Home Festival. Not just a replay of the full concert, itself, the global stream also features a mini-documentary alongside post-show backstage footage. Directed by Charlie Lightning, the 30-minute documentary will showcase Tomlinson and his team as he takes on his most ambitious project to date— the journey and curation of the Away from Home Festival 2021. Veeps has more information regarding ticket prices and timezones.
Louis Tomlinson’s Away From Home Festival wasn’t an easy thing to pull off— especially as an independent artist. But, Tomlinson’s dedication, verve, and loyalty over producing a free festival for fans and DIY artists alike is what allowed it to happen and happen seamlessly. The exceptional turnout and the strong belief in the festival’s presence make this Louis Tomlinson’s most career-defining moment to date. It’s only up from here.

Louis Tomlinson (UK) sold 160,000 tickets worldwide for his ‘Live from London’ charity concert, which was livestreamed on Veeps from an unknown venue in the UK’s capital city on 12 December 2020. The event raised more than $1 million (£755,000) for four charities – Crew Nation, FareShare, Stagehand and the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice (based in Sheffield, UK) – with Tomlinson’s own touring crew also receiving a portion of the proceeds after being out of work since March 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tomlinson’s 18-song set featured tracks from his debut solo album Walls (2020), three One Direction covers and the live debut of “Copy of a Copy of a Copy”.‘
Live from London’ was the third-biggest livestreamed concert of 2020 in terms of ticket sales, after BTS (756,000) and Dua Lipa (284,000), as the music industry moved away from traditional gigs with fans in attendance in light of restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Veeps, co-founded by Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden in 2017, had been a leading player in the shift towards bringing music into fans’ homes in 2020, billing itself as “the livestream concert platform for the music industry”. In January 2021, events promoter Live Nation bought a majority stake in Veeps in a bid to offset a dramatic decline in revenue caused by the cessation of live concerts and touring. In 2020, Veeps reportedly made more than $10 million in sales for the decimated touring sector.‘
Live from London setlist: “Just Hold On”; “We Made It”; “Don’t Let It Break Your Heart”; “Drag Me Down”; “Two of Us”; “Habit”; “Too Young”; “Perfect Now”; “Through the Dark”; “Fearless”; “Copy of a Copy of a Copy”; “Defenceless”; “Beautiful War”; “Always You”; “Little Black Dress”; “Walls”; “Only the Brave”; “Kill My Mind”.
