Wow I sure do love the Arcane ending where Viktor and Jayce reset the universe to be identical to the No Hextech universe, except Vi gets to be alive and the main characters keeps their memories but none of the trauma, and Viktor, Jayce, and Mel get to have a big poly steampunk wedding. My favorite part was when Caitlyn caught the bouquet and Vander and Silco immediately started bickering about how Vi should propose, while Jinx begins teasing her sister. I also liked the part where Ekko and Jinx became Art/Science double majors and everyone was happy

10/10 finale

In Arthur's antagonize line to Dutch about "everyone's been seeing you and Hosea reading" of course implies everyone's been seeing them having sex but the bit about "it's not a good look" implies to me that Hosea is topping Dutch and Arthur thinks that it's not a good look because it might look Dutch weak? also it seems like a giant fuck you to introduce sevika as someone who is tired of playing nice with piltover and wants zaun to defend itself and then narratively punish her for it over and over. she loses her arm repeatedly. she loses nearly every fight. she’s never happy. everyone close to her dies brutally and nobody even tells her. her community does not respect her. she is ignored every time she tries to rally her community and make change. she does not want to fight in piltover’s war but her people die in enforcer uniforms anyway. all for her ending (with no dialogue!) to be: accepting a position on the council to play nice with piltover.

#like what’s the moral of that arc: vander was right?#being beaten into submission by the oppressor and compromising with them is what she should’ve done all along?#it just seems especially cruel #bc the alternative was her being more like ekko???#who also got a tragic unhappy ending #his attempts to build a better community under oppression ALSO got his people killed and he is unhappy and alone #so like of the two options both get screwed #vi who became a cop is the only one with a ~good~ ending and even THAT is hugely tragic #she is literally all alone except for cait her whole family is dead everyone she ever tried to protect is dead #idk #arcane #sevika #sevika arcane #arcane spoilers #arcane s2

i think i reached a new level of insanity watching this show...anyway here are my standout thoughts on the final act:

um....homosexuality saves the day i guess

i absolutely LOVED seeing everyone in episode 7 (why does mylo have a stupid mustache ?? i have no clue but loved seeing him alive and well)

^my favourite designs were probably powder, silco, and claggor

mel continues to be that bitch™ and i love her for it

maddie, you bitch, i knew i didn't like you

powder's party fit was giving very much marinette dupain-cheng

still hate that fuckass hammer

at one point, i wrote in my notes "so first he was jesus and now he is an embryo, when i say multi you say faceted" and i think that that's my best work yet

i also think that this is very funny:

my sister got a video talking about jinx's death on her fyp and then told me she got a spoiler, alluded that it was about a character dying, and then refused to elaborate so i was on edge for like the entire last half of the finale (so thanks for that, sis)

so is caitvi officially fully canon or??? (i'm gonna go with yes)

i think my heart quickened a bit too much throughout this season (and especially this act) but overall...it was great just not where i was expecting the show to go

speed round (mourning edition): sky you will be missed, maddie you will not be missed, heimer you will be missed, jinx you will be missed (EDIT: she's confirmed to be alive, let's all cheer), ambessa you will not be missed, loris you will be missed, vander you will be missed, isha you will be missed, jayvik you will be missed (????)

EDIT: jinx is like confirmed to be alive so i guess she'll no longer be missed in a death sense

I wonder if the mural of Vander already existed and someone else painted Jinx into it after she became so well regarded?

I just feel like the portraits aren't that well integrated in theme. You have Vander's profile bordered in yellow flowers to represent friendship and joy. Then you have the more detailed painting of Jinx looming over Piltover exploding it with smoke bombs. Jinx is framed around doves while stylized into her latest attacks.

It feels like the artist(s) wanted to associate Jinx with Vander rather than the other way around because the actual subject of the Jinx's portion of the mural is Jinx violently provoking Piltover, but the nature of Jinx's portion is practically whitewashed to make it work with Vander's theme to the point Jinx is surrounded by DOVES. It might be an attempt to harmonize Jinx's persona with the ideals Vander left behind, which are the complete opposite of what Jinx is actually doing.

I think this is on purpose because Jinx is the most politically relevant member of her family now. Jinx is the one being valorized and venerated, and EVERYONE knows none of this would have been possible without Silco. Silco was the one who dedicated his resources to train Jinx and was openly anti-Piltovan to Jinx and the rest of Zaun.

I've seen some claims that Vander and Jinx are together because Vander was more beloved than Silco. But Silco never made it illegal to mourn or even celebrate Vander's memory. Silco allowed and a giant statue of Vander to be built in the middle if Zaun and he'd TALK to it.

But now Silco's dead and there are people running around in the background wearing Jinx's X and Silco's color scheme on their clothes. It feels like there's an ideological custody battle on behalf Silco and Vander through their supporters on who was Jinx's "true" father and gets the lions share of historical parental acclaim.

Tldr: The mural seems more like an effort to save face for Vander rather than bolster Jinx because Vander's actual values inexplicably lead his KNOWN favorite to becoming an enforcer. Meanwhile, everyone knows, especially Silco's supporters, that Silco's responsible for how Jinx turned out, and she's currently Zaun's favorite.
