do you have any fics im progress rnn? Can we geta sneak peek?
So, two answers kinda.
Do I have any fics in progress? Yes and no, I guess? Work and life have kept me really busy for a while now, and whenever I get to write it’s mostly been original stuff which I don’t post publicly, and also I haven’t super been in the mood to write smut recently. But I do have a few E-fics for Fable which I want to finish sometime.
As for a sneak peak at some of those, uhhh, sure? I have two main ones rn. There’s nothing like,,, super explicit in these screenshots but like,,, heads up for very softcore smut below the barrier thing
One is a Nightingstar modern AU fic, with Wolf working in a coffee shop. It’s technically a band au fic? Or at least in the same timeline as my other band au fics, but there isn’t really anything band related about it. I just saw the setting and was like “mmm, coffee shop sex”. So here’s that:
Tumblr media
And the second fic is a Ulysses/c!Ven one, actually. Very canon compliant type shit. I don’t remember which one exactly but on some stream (and also on tumblr) Connor and Ven seemed adamant these two had fucked so… I dunno I thought it’d be interesting to write. It was supposed to be really horny and then it just kinda became really sad and emotional too and I wasn’t sure on the direction to take it, so I’m still toying with things.
Tumblr media
There’s one or two other things I have like,,, really rough drafts for. There was an old Ghaae fic from s2 with the concept of Rae suddenly having a horn to pull/hold on to but I don’t love it. I had an among us au fic started, but Ghaaeghaae kinda did one of those and did a similar premise way better. I wasn’t super around at the end of s3 at times, so I feel like I missed prime time for Wet Birds, but I don’t have the motivation right this second to come up with an idea for it, even if I think it could be neat. Maybe once I catch up on stuff like Bound and Cantripped I might do something with those if there’s a demand (people should let me know if they have recommendations for characters I should look closely at). Stuff for my other fandoms I usually post to a different account, which I won’t reveal here because it reveals too much about my fandoms honestly lmao
Anyway this was a really long post hope it answered your question and that y’all enjoy those few sneak peeks <3

hello, mechanisms enjoyer. who is your favourite mechanism. what is your favourite album. what is your favourite song.
Oh hey its you!! Mechanisms ask person!! Sorry i saw other ppl answering your asks and kept wondering if you'd send me one too jkhnjjgghgfjf
My favorite mechanism is The Toy Soldier!! (As you can probably guess lol) I just. Love it so much jkgmfjfgf. Like Its both the dissonance between its cheerful appearance and how it will murder you in cold blood without remorse if someone told it to (and even if not) and how it is an artificial being and yet it longs for companionship and pretends to be alive both bc thats whats been asked of it initially and bc it wants to be included and when all of its friends died it felt it had no reason to keep pretending so it stopped and just. You know what im talking about. Also its silly
My favorite album is Ulysses Dies at Dawn!! I like pretty much all the songs from it, I was a greek mythology/percy jackson kid so recognising the references there was fun, and I generally like stories involving being denied an ending/ending as a release (not for any reason related to my current mental state dw im fine. Also yes thats why i like DoNA but thats unrelated rn). And also it has Orpheus my beloved <3 if you (addressing also any potential readers here) haven't read the fictions for this album already please do they're fantastic. But if you don't usually read the fictions and want the best stuff first, read the ones that have Orpheus in their titles (i don't have the patience to find exactly what they're called on the website but theres like two of em and they're really good).
My favorite song.... thats a hard one oh boy. I guess it's Losing Track? I'm a sucker for songs combining previous leitmotifs/parts from other songs and its the perfect song of 'conclusion' to the first part of tbi with its mystery theme before we find out what really happened yk. And odin's parts there are just <3333 raph's singing is fantasic there as ever. I also like The Toy Soldier Song a whole lot bc it's my favorite mechanism and Frankenstein bc well its really fucking good we're really sleeping on Frankenstein as a fandom tbh
So yeah!! Sorry this was kinda long i judt love rambling abt the mechs and thank you for giving me an excuse to do so (positive) (i love it when ppl ask me abt things i like and i get to talk abt them please feel free to talk to me abt things more)

Yeah, I'd love to know which mechanisms songs you think I should start with, or if it's a particular album. I actually went and listened to a few seconds of one after reblogging the post. They remind me just a little of The Amzing Devil. I'll be honest, that specific specific song didn't keep my interest too long, but I'm sure someone who knows their music could point me toward the better ones. :)
Ahhh! Thanks for reaching out :3 (and also hope you don't mind if I make this public, just in case someone interested might see it :'>)
I'm going to assume you know nothing about them just in case (and also since I know some songs are less good for casual use/can take a little warming up to :'3)
The gist of it is that it's a storytelling cabaret where every band member is in character as an immortal space pirates; as such, their albums are retellings of "actual events" they have "witnessed" during their travels in space.
I think I will put the rest under a Read More though because! I went off a bit! Sorry about that :'D
I recommend listening to their albums as they interest you to get the general gist of the stories. Once I got that, I added them to my shuffle playlist and listen to my faves - that way it's not confusing to me and I don't have to "suffer" through the other parts when I don't wanna listen to a whole concept album.
The "main" four albums all follow a similar structure of switching between narration/song, with varying amount of information relayed in the song (as in, sometimes it's just about a concept of the story, sometimes it's more akin to a musical piece where the story moves as well). The songs themselves are often based on various extant, mostly folk, songs (e.g. Bella Ciao, WW1 songs, and I can't think of any more rn because my brain is cooked).
If you want the cliff's notes version of these albums (none of which have a "happy" ending, so be aware of that going in):
Once Upon A Time (In Space): their first album, Grimm's fairy tales but it's about a space rebellion against an immortal, tyrannical king with an army of clones.
Ulysses Dies at Dawn: greek mythology but it's a noir cyberpunk planet-wide city. Contains (in my unbiased opinion lol) very good and interesting takes on how the setting would influence some of the myths we are familiar with today. Fair warning though: will contain references to the original material you might miss if you are unfamiliar with the OG characters, but it's still enjoyable
High Noon Over Camelot: Arthurian legend but it's a diesel-punk desert space station with bike-riding cowboys. SPECIAL MENTION TO THE MOST BANGER BANJO (again, in my opinion), specifically in Peacemaker. It's going wild in there.
The Bifrost Incident: Norse Mythology but told as a space-train noir mystery. Notable for not being narrated by an outer character, but actually told as a "recording" of the police officer investigating. Features a very good banjo in "Expert Testimony" (which is narration) (also the banjo is in a genre I like to call "bastard" because oh yeah, what is happening in-story is that a character is being A Bastard <3)
As for Tales to be Told I and II, they contain smaller stories (either relating to the main albums, origin stories for in-universe band members, or self-contained ones)
There is also a standalone single, "Frankenstein." Guess what that one is about lol. It, along with "Alice" and "Gunpowder Tim vs. The Moon Kaiser" are "songs" on the longer side that contain shorter narration/song segments.
Lastly, there's Death To The Mechanisms, which was the band's farewell concert in 2020 when they disbanded. It's been recorded and put together as a live album and contains fun banter and character lore regarding their deaths.
IF you want my favourite songs, regardless of album, it's probably Red Signal, Peacemaker, Blood and Whiskey, Thor, Rose Red, Alice, Acatea and Lyssa, Lost in Cosmos, The Ignominous Demise of Dr. Pilchard (which also has fun banjo), Elysian Fields, Ragnarok II: The Calling, and Riddle of the Sphinx.
ANYWAY! Extremely long, heatwave induced rant aside, I do hope you'll check them out! Feel free to reach out and let me know how you liked the songs/stories, I am always down for recommending the band to more people :3
Lastly, allow me to link the unofficial YouTube channel TheVoidSings (here!) which has all their albums with lyrics and in neat playlists so you can listen to them in order!
(I would link the band's channel so that they'd at least get some youtube cents from it, but it got demonetised under the new guidelines a few days ago, so that's fucked and yes, I am mad about it :'D)

i love a tag game i love talking about myself i love @knightrelic for tagging me in this
1. nickname: bucky actually is my nickname! my last name is buck, so bucky was kind of a natural next step lol. even my dad used to be called bucky when he was younger
2. sign: pisces sun, libra moon, gemini rising. i do not believe in astrology and the only one of those i knew off the top of my head was my sun sign lol
3. height: 5’11, but that bumps up to 6’ if i wear my docs
4. last thing you googled: “did chadwick boseman do his own singing in get on up”. my dad and i watched it last night and i was curious lol. for those interested: it was mostly recordings of james brown, but but boseman did do some singing in select parts (he was great btw) and all of his own dancing!
5. song stuck in your head: father and son by cat stevens. i have a playlist called “most beautiful songs ever written” and that’s on it
6. amount of sleep: i went to sleep at around 3, and technically woke up at like 10:15, even though i stayed in bed and chilled for like 45 minutes before getting up, so that’s ~7 hours
7. dream job: tattoo artist! saving up for my third tattoo rn, and i wanna see if there are any shops looking to take on apprentices or receptionists or something as soon as i have the time
8. wearing: cassette tape socks, green pants with a chain for a belt, plain black sweatshirt, red & blue flannel, and earrings that look like i have screws stuck through my ears
9. books/movies that define you: not 100% sure if i understand this one, but i’ll just ramble a little i guess lol. movies: my own private idaho, bill and ted’s excellent adventure, monty python’s meaning of life, the muppet movie, walk hard, the silence of the lambs, the wall. books: house of leaves (mark danielewski), johnny got his gun (dalton trumbo), the raw shark texts (steven hall), the martian (andy weir), the time machine (hg wells), eunoia (christian bök) , frankenstein (mary shelley), the great gatsby (f scott fitzgerald). that is… more than i intended to list for either category lol
10. favorite song: in general it’s the re-recorded version of bloodstains by agent orange, but i’ve been listening to a lot of showtunes recently so hosanna fro jesus christ superstar and try me from she loves me are up there too
11. instrument: i’m mainly a singer & guitarist, but i also play ukulele and harmonica (i’m a bit better on ukulele but it’s been a looong time since i’ve practiced lol). i’m working on learning poems, prayers, & promises by john denver on guitar rn and man is it a doozy. guy fucking loved his altered travis patterns huh
12. aesthetic: i have,, no idea. sometimes (usually when it’s warmer) i lean a little towards grungy, but nowadays i look a little more like a cool librarian just cause it’s cold, but then i tend to look kinda preppy when i have to dress up for something, and i also have “sexiest person at this grocery store” disease so it’s… kind of all over the place. i like fun socks? i wear a lot of jewel tones??
13. favorite author: there are very few authors of whose works i have read more than one, but my all-time favorite book (house of leaves) was written by mark danielewski, so i’ll go with him. that being said, madeline miller writes gorgeous prose, james joyce has fantastic control of the english language (even if ulysses murdered me), and andy weir is fucking hilarious
14. fun fact: ooo lemme think. my belly button is off-center. i can wiggle my ears. my mom owns a car that used to belong to billy joe armstrong and i got to drive it to my senior prom. i can tap dance. i have a small but growing collection of funny mugs i find at thrift stores. i don’t know how to dive. i once drank worcestershire sauce on a dare from my sister. i’ve lived in arizona my whole life but i’ve never seen the grand canyon.
i guess im supposed to tag 14 people for 14 questions but like bracken said i don’t know 14 peoples so i’ll just tag @commander-vas-normandy @mattmurdockspainkink and @localmvthman along with anyone else who wants to do it! :•)

belated book asks, thank you for indulging me!
1- What book are you currently reading? bros karamazov, 2/3s through atm.
i hate that i’m thinking about pathologic (video game) the entire time but i can't help it. the way characters are constantly bursting into people's houses & going "you’re an angel, you're the best person i've ever met, you're a saint" to someone they just met 5 minutes ago is so. distinct. i joked on twitter that the first half of the book is just alyosha running around completing sidequests, which i still think is true, but once i got to the grand inquisitor part i was like "Okay mr dostoevsky, you’ve got me."
Tumblr media
2- What book did you recently finish? "selections from science & sanity" by alfred korzybski, recently featured in the gumby quotes. a while back i listened to a 6 hour long interview with robert anton wilson where he talks about korzybski & general semantics so i gave it a shot. it's an abridged version of a 900 page book & i definitely plan on reading the full work at some point, it's wild. if you’re interested in language, consciousness, the gap between words & meaning, and/or hacking your brain i would recommend it. he repeats himself a lot but that's a side effect of his pedagogy, the goal of which is the eventual re-wiring of your entire nervous system in order to achieve a more rational worldview/healthier reactions to things. (so repetition via words/sounds/actions is necessary 2 engage the organism-as-a-whole.) the most important takeaway for me is that everything & everyone you interact with is a completely unique object, and this necessarily extends to temporality-- Bob in 1999 is NOT the same person as Bob in 2010, and treating them as though they were is a harmful mistake. interestingly enough, im taking a class with J.F. martel (weird studies podcast, author of "reclaiming art in the age of artifice") & last night he said what amounts to exactly the same thing, except he was arguing for like, a soft animism (i-thou vs. i- it) & korzybski was arguing for a more "rational" & secular world. so fascinating.
Tumblr media
3- What’s a book that’s been on your to-read list for a long time? ulysses. i know. i know. i have a copy but keep bouncing off of it. idk why, i liked portrait of the artist as a young man. i think i’m worried i’ll turn into this person:
Tumblr media
4- What’s the next book you’re hoping to read? i just got "speech play: research & resources for the study of linguistic creativity" in the mail so probably that. i'm on a childlore kick rn & this is like... horizontally related 5- Is there a book you own, but aren’t planning on reading?
around 2 years ago i was walking home after a show high on E & i ran into a guy i had met at work a couple times. went over to his apartment because MDMA is like, "everything is SO meaningful and SO much fun." i barely remember our conversation but he ended up being like "you would like this book, here take it, i have 3 copies." so i now own a copy of "the eater of darkness" by robert m coates. i still haven't read it. the moral of this story is [???]
Tumblr media
6- What was your favorite series as a kid? Would you still read it now? so many of you asked this question :P
THE TRUTH: i was obsessed with lotr from age 8 to 13 with a level of dedication that i've never known since. yes, i would still read it now. i reread the silmarillion last year & it was naturally a way more rewarding experience than when i was a kid! 8- Fantasy or sci-fi? i like & have read a lot of older sf/f (le guin asimov pkd etc etc) but im not actively into either nowadays. i read whatever reaches me from the queer sf/f twitter pipeline (like whatever's on wizards vs lesbians) but otherwise dont pay much attention. so the answer is "idk!!!”
12- Have you ever read a celebrity memoir? If so, whose was it? the only memoir i've read in recent years has been "memories, dreams, reflections" so if jung counts as a celebrity, there you go 14- Fiction or non-fiction? non-fiction in both quantity of books owned & what i prefer reading. i almost view them as 2 separate activities bc the motivation for & experience of reading them are so wildly different 15- Favorite fiction genre? i know i said im not "actively into" sci fi but 16- Favorite non-fiction genre? "philosophy" i guess. i also really love any phenomenological/experience-based studies of paranormal stuff, like "the terror that comes in the night" by david hufford or anything by jacques vallée. basically books that both a) take strange experiences seriously & b) examine/catalogue them scientifically (to whatever degree).
Tumblr media
22- How do you organize your books? “poorly” 26- What’s your favorite book? fav non-fiction book: “time loops” by eric wargo. what if freud's career-making "irma dream" was a premonitory dream about the oral cancer that would severely impede his quality of life in his old age? (fantastic blog entry by the author, serves as a kind of intro to this topic: http://thenightshirt.com/?p=4326 )
when i read “time loops” it felt like everything i had ever read (& will ever read future tense) was for the sole purpose of understanding it. “time loops” picks up where J.W. dunne's 1927 "an experiment with time" left off. i won't say too much more about it but everyone should read it. it's so smart & engaging & will totally blow your miiiind, maaaan speaking of "an experiment with time," in 1964 a guy named vladimir nabokov began an experiment of his own following the directions dunne laid out in his book. dunne encouraged readers to write down their dreams in order to test the theory that a later event could generate an earlier dream.
nabokov’s experiment with dreams & time strongly influenced “ada or ardor: a family chronicle” which happens to be my favorite novel. i first read it when i was 18, and i've reread it 3 times since then (with the help of ada online, my beloved http://www.ada.auckland.ac.nz/ ) i would not recommend this book to anyone who doesn’t already like nabokov & know what he’s about. it’s fucked up & self indulgent & i love it so much
30- What character do you connect with the most? when jung said he was bad at math? i felt that

Top 5 Presidents?
Okay!! Okay okay okay I KNOW someone is gonna get mad at me so I have to emotionally prepare for the comments where people try to mansplain to me why each president is problematic. But guess what? I dont give a fuck :) Sorry that was rude, I give a lot of fucks. I care about you and respect your opinions, even if I may view the top a bit differently. <3
5. Thomas Jefferson Listen here: I don’t condone slavery. Like dude wtf that was fucked up. I just think that he is funny and a very interesting man, no matter how controversial he is. The thing that makes him so interesting is how hypocritical his life was. He was bad in many ways, but he did have his list of good deeds that I won’t get into rn. That doesn’t excuse what he did in his personal life, though. Please don’t hit me for adding him to my list :(
4. Ulysses S Grant  I find him to be an interesting fella, he has sad eyes. He tried his best.
3. John Adams He’s my bro. No further questioning.
2. George Washington Don’t hurt me for adding him to the list.. I just think he’s neat.. Just like Jefferson, he did good and bad in his life.. I do not condone his bad actions and I never will. I think slavery is disgusting and should have never happened. It hurts my heart to think this country was built on so much pain and bloodshed, and I wish there had been a different way of solving problems.
1. Abraham Lincoln  Bruh he was literally a bro. I respect him. Plus I’m kinda jealous of his hat tbh
Thank you for the ask!! I know history guys, please don’t give me the usual rant about how problematic each of the dudes are.. I don’t have time to cry today dsjafhj Have a great day!! Here’s a cookie!! 🍪🍪🍪
