🔮A True Love Of Mine 🔮
Lilia Calderu x fem!reader

summary: On your way home from town, you get caught in the rain and find shelter at Madame Calderu's Psychic Readings. That night, you learn things about yourself you never would've imagined.
*************************************
The storm hit earlier than expected. You'd gone into town to stock up on ultrasonic cleaning solution and clock oil for your father as you did every other week—the walk wasn't too long and the scenery pretty—only today, the world was ending.
Or so it felt as you pushed forth through the wind lashing in your face and waded through the water that went up to your ankles and had soaked through into your lace-up boots. The raindrops pierced your face like needles, and your coat hung like seaweed from your shoulders, long and heavy, and had ceased to provide any kind of warmth. You made it down the road, cautious of the trees for they might fall, and reached a row of shops.
A nail salon, a shop with pool supplies, and between them, Madame Calderu's Psychic Readings. Since the nail salon was closed and the other shop didn't make the friendliest of impressions, you decided to try and find shelter with the psychic.
Water dripped from the ends of your hair, your nose, and your chin, and you felt like a wet dog. You just hoped you didn't smell like one, too. You approached the glass door, dusty as were the large shop windows, and pushed it open.
A bell chimed above your head, and thick oven warmth embraced you. It was a relief to your shaking, chilled form, and for a moment, you didn't take in anything else but this.
When you opened your eyes again, an array of plants greeted you, which you assumed the owner must've brought in when the storm had reared its ugly face. The interior was colourful, filled to the brim with crystals and knickknacks, with grand drapes on every window, one of which had been decorated with shards of painted glass hung up on a thread. It was so unlike your father's workshop with its dark, antique furniture, the grandfather clocks, the worn carpet—despite your best efforts to bring life into it with some fairy lights and lace tablecloth. This looked homey and inviting.
...unlike the owner, who stepped through the beaded curtain that separated the shop from her private quarters, you assumed, looking nothing short of intimidating.
And there you were, dripping on her Persian rug.
"Um... M-madame C-c-calderu?" you stuttered with chattering teeth.
You expected to get yelled at by the older lady, but the moment she realised you were soaked to the bone, she slipped off her knitted cardigan and rushed to you, muttering, "Oh, honey, oh honey."
She laid it around your shoulders and rubbed your upper arms with her warm, wrinkled hands. "You're drenched, dear." She studied your face with knitted eyebrows. "And your lips are blue, Divine Mother..."
One of her grey curls that framed her face bounced whenever she moved her head. She must be in her seventies, but was still exceptionally beautiful.
"May I—wait out the—s-storm here?" you asked, on the verge of tears from how frozen you were. The tip of your nose, your fingers, your toes—they all ached as if they were about to fall off.
"What a silly question!" She ushered you to sit in a floral-patterned armchair surrounded by countless candles. "I'll get you some dry clothes, girl."
And off she went, through the beaded curtain again, and you sat trying not to freeze to death. The storm raged outside, sent everything that wasn't fixed flying across the road, and bent the trees to breaking. It was early in the evening, but the dense clouds had darkened the sky as if it were almost night.
You set your shopping bag on the ground and rubbed your palms over your thighs to warm them up. Madame Calderu returned a moment later with a folded stack of clothes and towels and set them down on the side table, handing you a towel first and taking one herself.
"Dry up as best as you can and then slip into these. They're from when I was younger," she chuckled, "so might fit you somewhat."
"Thank you so much," you said, and she gave you a warm smile that made your heart squeeze.
It was nothing compared to the leap it made when she began to dry your hair for you while you dragged the towel across your arms and chest. She wrapped the ends of your long, dirty blonde waves up and wrung them out. With her own unruly curls, she must know how to care for hair properly. Her fingers moved to your scalp and massaged it with the towel, and you almost moaned at the feeling.
"Better now, darling?" She stepped back in front of you, and you missed her touch already, but nodded.
"Much."
"Then get changed while I make tea." She took the wet towels with her and turned over her shoulder to say, "Come to the back when you're done."

My 9 yo dog recently got 3 teeth extracted. I was hoping to control her tartar and plaque by brushing, and I feel like I waited too long and that this could have been avoided. Are there any risks associated with having general anesthesia regularly for dental cleanings? I was under the assumption that it is better to try to control tartar and plaque by brushing daily and that frequent dental cleanings should be avoided unless signs of periodontal disease start to emerge. I understand there are stipulations to this based on whether the dog has heart disease, but what would be the "general" recommendation?
gettingvetted here.
The recommendation from board certified veterinary dentists is that all animals need a dental cleaning with radiographs under anesthesia once a year, and that the teeth need to be brushed daily. If the owner cannot or will not commit to brushing, there is "no point" in doing cleanings at all, similar to if you got your teeth cleaned twice a year and then didn't brush your teeth between cleanings.
However, on a more realistic, general practice point of view, it very much depends on the animal. Daily brushing is definitely the gold standard. Not one of my clients brushes their pets' teeth daily. I will often recommend picking 2-3 products for daily use off of the VOHC product list if the owner won't brush. They usually won't get things from the VOHC list either. Because why would you listen to the professional that you're paying for an opinion. But that is what I recommend. Some animals, like small or brachycephalic dogs, or cats with resorptive tooth lesions or stomatitis, may need cleanings every 6 months and may lose many or all of their teeth even with aggressive care. The average dog or cat would probably need a cleaning a handful of times (3-4x) in their life but due to a lack of at-home care and more frequent cleanings, they will probably need to have a handful of teeth extracted at each cleaning or at least accumulate heavy tarter. Sometimes large dogs can get away with one or two cleanings in their lifetime but they will probably get some fairly heavy tarter between cleanings. This also doesn't account for dentals required for specific pathology, like broken teeth or jaws, checking the mouth, throat, nose, or sinuses for cancer, etc.
General anesthesia is not harmful for an otherwise healthy pet, and the effects of anesthesia are not cumulative. Also, part of the point of a dental cleaning with anesthesia is to perform radiographs which allows the vet to diagnose pathology below the gumline where it is invisible to the owner, as well as performing an ultrasonic scaling under the gums where regular tooth brushes cannot reach. Hence the gold standard recommendation of yearly dentals.
Hope this helps!

French Bulldog Health - Volhard Dog Nutrition
7 Best Ways To Cure Bleeding Gums Dog Bleeding gums are one of the most frustrating problems for dog owners. Unlike human beings, dog’s gums don’t have a way to seal off the blood vessels that can lead to bleeding. This means that even the slightest bit of trauma can cause gums to bleed profusely. If you’re experiencing this problem with your dog, here are seven best ways to cure bleeding gums. French Bulldog Health Clean Your Dog's Teeth One of the most common problems with dogs is their teeth. Cleaning their teeth regularly helps to prevent gingivitis and other dental issues. Here are some tips for cleaning your dog's teeth: - Start by brushing your dog's teeth using a soft bristled brush. Be sure to brush in between their teeth and around the gum line. - If your dog has tartar buildup, use a toothpaste specifically designed for tartar removal. Be sure to rinse off the toothpaste after use. - For deep cleanings, you may need to visit a professional oral surgeon or veterinarian. They can use devices such as ultrasonic cleaners or lasers to remove excess plaque and bacteria from your dog's teeth. Get Rid of Bacteria Bleeding gums can be caused by a number of factors such as dental disease, gum disease, food allergies, and tumors. If the bleeding is mild or sporadic, it may not require treatment. However, if the bleeding is severe or constant, then it may be necessary to take action. There are a number of ways to get rid of bacteria that may be causing the bleeding. Some people recommend using over-the-counter mouthwash products like Pepto-Bismol or Scope. Others recommend using antibiotics ointments such as Clostridium difficile (C. diff) ointment or amoxicillin/clavulanate ointment. If the bleeding is from a tooth infection, then antibiotics should be used according to the doctor's instructions. If mouthwash or antibiotics do not work, then surgery may be necessary to remove the bacteria and stop the bleeding. This may include removing teeth that are causing the problem or performing an endodontic procedure to clean and treat underlying causes of tooth decay including plaque and tartar build-up. Use a Mouthwash There are a few ways you can use a mouthwash to cure bleeding gums in your dog. You can try using an over-the-counter product such as Pepsodent or Triple Paste.[1] You can also make your own mouthwash using ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and salt. Just mix the ingredients together and pour into a spray bottle for use. Finally, you can give your dog homeopathic remedies such as Mercurochrome or Silica Gel to help cure the problem. Apply a Chewing Gum There are many ways to cure bleeding gums in dogs, but the most common is to apply a chewing gum. Chewing gums can help to reduce inflammation and stop the flow of blood. You can buy over-the-counter chewing gums or make your own using a recipe. There are many different types of chews, so find one that your dog will enjoy and fits their chewing needs. Buy New Dog Toys There are many options when it comes to buying new dog toys. You can go for durable toys that your pet will love, or you can buy novelty toys that your pup will get entertained with for a short amount of time. It is important to find the right type of toy for your dog and ensure that they have plenty of opportunities to play with it.

Middle aged male as well as femal vets examining Golden retriever. Veterinarian checking out teeth at vet’s workplace.
Treatment for gum disease in dogs begins with a thorough exam and x-rays to determine the stage and the extent of the damage. Your vet might give antibiotics to prevent germs from spreading out throughout dental job. Therapy after that relies on the searchings for of the exam as well as the stage of the illness. For stage 1 or 2 periodontal condition, a detailed cleaning above as well as listed below the gum tissues can remove plaque, as well as a tool called an ultrasonic scaler can eliminate calculus. The veterinarian can brighten teeth to fill out any crevices so germs can not affix itself and form plaque.

Periodontal Disease in Dogs and Cats
February marks National Pet Dental Health Month, so today we are going to talk about dental disease in our pets. No, we’re not talking about cavities or wisdom teeth–we’re talking about the number one cause of dental issues in pets: Periodontal Disease in dogs and cats, where build-up of plaque on and around the teeth can start to cause discomfort, pain, swelling, and infection around your pet’s teeth and gums. With good at-home dental routines and regular professional dental cleanings with your veterinarian, you can prevent your pet from suffering from periodontal disease.
What is Periodontal Disease in Dogs and Cats?
Caused by poor oral hygiene, periodontal disease is not only the most common dental disease in our pets, but also the most common issue affecting our dogs and cats that we see in veterinary clinics, with 78% of dogs and 68% of cats over the age of three being affected. Periodontal disease is caused by bacterial plaque and tartar gathering both above and below the gumline, resulting in inflammation and infection. Initially, you can see bad breath and mild discomfort in your pet’s mouth. Eventually, the infection can spread underneath the gum and into the bone and supporting tissues of the teeth, causing inflamed gums (gingivitis), exposed tooth roots and gum recession, and eventually teeth and bone loss. In some cases, periodontal disease in dogs and cats can be so severe that bacteria access the exposed blood vessels in the bone and teeth, spread and lodge into remote sites in the heart, kidney, liver, and joints, resulting in serious issues. Small dog breeds, such as Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Dachshunds, and Toy Poodles, are more prone to developing periodontal disease than larger breeds.
Tumblr media
What are Signs of Periodontal Disease in Dogs and Cats?
Looking for signs and symptoms of periodontal disease in dogs and cats, can be as easy as flipping up your pet’s lip. Look for the following signs of periodontal disease:
·        Bad breath
·        Red, tender, swollen or bleeding gums
·        Tartar and Plaque (yellow/gray/brown) build up on teeth
·        Loose or broken teeth
·        Decreased appetite
·        Weight loss
·        Nasal discharge
·        Oral pain: you’ll see more difficulty in chewing (ie. chewing more on one side of the mouth, dropping food out of mouth when eating), not playing with toys or chew sticks as often, and being more guarded when you are around your pet’s lips and mouth.
Tumblr media
It is important to note pets can mask pain and not show the above-listed signs; therefore, oral exams every six months are critical to maintaining your pet’s health. If you have any concerns or notice any of these signs, schedule an appointment with your local veterinarian right away.
Here are some services we provide –
·        cat dental water additive
·        vet recommended dog water additive
·        best dog dental wipes
·        dog bad breath water additive
How to Treat Periodontal Disease in Dogs and Cats?
The most common treatment of periodontal disease in dogs and cats your veterinarian will recommend is a professional dental cleaning performed under general anesthesia. Under general anesthesia, treatment for pets with mild to moderate periodontal disease include ultrasonic dental cleaning, hand scaling above and below the gumline, polishing the teeth, and rinsing after the cleaning with an oral care. However, pets with severe periodontal disease may need further, more aggressive therapy including dental x-rays, pain blocks, extractions of diseased teeth, oral surgery, pre- and post- procedure oral antibiotics, and pain medications. Dog’s with severe periodontal disease may also require more frequent professional dental cleanings in the future, or even a referral to veterinary dental specialists.
Tumblr media
How to Prevent Periodontal disease in Dogs and Cats?
Periodontal disease in dogs and cats can be prevented and pushed back effectively when caught early on during annual examinations with your veterinarian and developing a routine regimen that works best for you and your pet. We recommend the following preventative care measures:
·        Brushing teeth at least every other day with veterinary recommended toothbrushes, toothpaste, or dental wipes is one of the best ways to mechanically reduce the plaque and tartar build-up that causes periodontal disease.
·        Dental rinses or water additives made specifically for pets can reduce bacteria, tartar, and plaque build-up that causes periodontal disease as well, and can also help to freshen your pet’s breath.
·        Professional Dental cleanings with your veterinarian under general anesthesia. Most pets benefit the most from regularly scheduled annual dental cleanings, especially before signs of periodontal disease are present. This will reduce bacteria and plaque build-up above and below the gumline, preventing periodontal disease and tartar where we can’t see or access ourselves.
·        Dental chew toys and treats or food specially formulated to mechanically and enzymatically work with your pet’s chewing action to reduce the formation of plaque or tartar. Although these cannot replace the effectiveness of dental brushing or water additives, they are a great supplement and treat for your pet.
Tumblr media
If you have a puppy or kitten, get them accustomed to opening their mouth, moving the upper and lower lips, and giving regular gum massages. This will help with them being more accepting of regular tooth brushing and oral exams in the future.
I hope this information helps you understand a bit more about the most common dental disease in pets and guide you in taking care of your pet’s teeth and gums in the future. If you start seeing signs of bad breath, teeth discoloration, and inflamed, bleeding gums, please make an appointment with your local veterinarian. Lastly, feel free to reach out to our team on Facebook, Instagram, email, or in the comments section below if you found this article helpful or have any questions about our dental care products.

Pet Dental Disease and your Pets Health:
Many of us have experienced dental disease and the extreme pain associated with it. Like humans, pets also suffer from dental diseases. American Veterinary Dental Society studies indicate that dental disease is the number one diagnosis in dogs and cats, with 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats have periodontal disease by age two.
Dental disease is also chronic and progressive. Preventive dental care of your pet is necessary for your pet to live a long, healthy oral-pain free life. Foul odor is the most common symptom of dental disease in pets. You may also notice inflamed gums, tartar, pain when chewing food, eating on one side of the mouth, poor appetite, anorexia, and weight loss.
Dental disease starts with inflamed gums secondary to plaque and tartar accumulation. When the gum disease progresses due to bacterial accumulation, the gums recede and becomes inflamed and bleed easily. This condition left untreated may progress to periodontitis.
Periodontal disease is irreversible without oral surgery and will result in loss of supporting structures of the teeth, ending in pain and tooth loss. Sub-gingival plaque also secrets toxins and metabolic products. When toxins and bacteria enter the blood stream they can cause serious diseases to the heart valves, lungs, liver, kidneys and even to the nervous system. Most pets with chronic dental disease will have valvular endocarditis, reactive hepatopathy and chronic respiratory diseases. Your pet may be lethargic, coughing with breathing difficulty and may refuse to eat.
Pets with advanced dental diseases may need specialized care before, during and after the dental procedure.
Older pets need a complete physical exam, pre anesthetic blood work, electrocardiogram and chest X-rays prior to anesthesia and dental procedure. All pets that are anesthetized must be monitored with sophisticated anesthetic monitoring equipment, so it is prudent to select a veterinarian with experience in anesthetizing older pets if your pet is old.
Unlike humans there is no anxiety or pain associated with your pet’s dental visit. After your pet is anesthetized, the tartar is removed by scaling with ultrasonic scaling machine which helps us to remove all tartar quickly and gently. Following the dental cleaning your pet’s teeth will be polished to smooth the tooth surface to make it difficult for food or bacteria to adhere to the tooth easily. We routinely apply fluoride and a dental sealant known as Ora-Vet to protect the teeth.
Your pet may require antibiotic therapy prior, during and after dental procedure depending on the level of existing dental disease. Proper dental cleaning can only be performed under general anesthesia because many pets may require root planning-deep cleaning and dental X-rays to rule out any hidden oral pathology.
Many pets require regular dental cleaning every six to twelve months. Small dogs and cats are more susceptible for dental disease than large breed of dogs. Prevention and long-term care are provided at home by regular daily brushing of your pet’s teeth and weekly Ora-Vet dental sealant applications.
Animal studies show that dental procedure at any point of dental diseases will stop or slow progression of dental disease. A regular dental preventive program is necessary for long term quality of life of your pet.
Presented in the best interest of pets,
Dr. I. Arun, DVM., P. A.
The attached picture shows that dental disease is a hidden disease. The first intra-oral camera picture shows mild gingivitis and the second picture (dental X-ray) shows the same teeth having advanced dental disease with supporting bone loss. Dental X-rays are must for proper dental care.

Tips for Repelling Rabbits | Repel Rabbits | Keep Rabbits from eating your plants
Rabbits may seem like delicate nibblers but that doesn’t mean they don’t do considerable damage.Rabbits will eat the tender growth of newly emerging plants in the spring. During the summer, they will eat broad-leafed weeds, clover, grasses, leaves, shoots, roots, fruit, berries, and vegetables. In winter, rabbits will eat the bark of trees and shrubs, buds, twigs, and blackberry and raspberry bushes. Although they can be quite persistent, you can get rid of rabbits from your garden.
How to Recognize the Signs of Rabbits in Your Area?
Rabbits have a great number of natural predators and they may be difficult to actively observe. However, it’s not uncommon to see rabbits in broad daylight when they’re in an unthreatening environment, some gardens are simply overrun with rabbits. Additionally, you may see rabbit droppings. Rabbit pellets are about the same size and shape as a pea. They may appear scattered or in small piles.
You're reading: Tips for Repelling Rabbits | Repel Rabbits | Keep Rabbits from eating your plants
“I love bunnies, well I use too anyway. All of a sudden I have them everywhere and they’re eating me out of house and home! My neighbor told me about your rabbit repellent which I immediately purchased. To put it simply, I haven’t lost a plant since I started using it. Excellent!!”
How to Recognize Rabbit Damage on Plants.
Carefully observe the leaves and stalks that have been left behind. Quite often rabbits will nibble plants down to the ground. Because of a rabbits’ sharp front teeth, the leaves that remain will appear cleanly cut as though they were trimmed with scissors, as opposed to the deer damage. Deer tear at leaves, leaving ragged edges.

In winter, with the absence of tender, new growth, rabbits are more likely to gnaw on trees, twigs and shrubs. The bark of young trees is particularly susceptible to rabbit damage. As trees mature and the bark thickens, the trees become less desirable. Rabbits may eat bark from the ground up to around 20″. They may gnaw the bark in patches or even completely girdle the tree.
Rabbit damage on twigs and shrubs appear as clean cuts at a 45 degree angle. If the damage is above two feet from the ground, it is more likely from a deer.

Make your garden less inviting to rabbits. Rabbits will only live in areas that provide cover from predators. They will live under low-growing shrubs, brush piles and tall grasses and under porches, sheds and other structures. Clean up brush piles, keep tall grasses mowed and block access under structures. Your can also introduce plants in your garden that rabbits are not as likely to eat. Click here for a list of plants rabbits don’t readily eat
Add barrier fencing to protect plants. Collars around the trunk of young trees can prevent rabbit damage. Place a fence around vegetable gardens. Fences must be anywhere from 2-3 feet above the ground buried to a depth of six inches underground. In areas where it snows, consideration has to be given to allow for extra height. Electric fencing is another option. Fencing needs to be strong and regularly checked for damage and can be quite costly. In addition, fencing is not always an option from an aesthetic view.
Trap and relocate. Check with local ordinances on trapping guidelines for your area. Trapping can be time consuming and costly.
Keep a dog in your yard.   Just the presence of a dog in your yard may be enough to keep rabbits away. However, you may not feel like adding dog to your family just to get rid of rabbits from your garden.
Scare and Ultrasonic devices. Water scarecrows, fake snakes and owls, aluminum pie pans and ultrasonic devices are sometimes used to try to scare rabbits away from plants. Unfortunately, they can be unreliable and have limited effectiveness. Rabbits do eventually get used to these devices and will no longer be frightened by them after.
Spray with I Must Garden Rabbit Repellent. A most economical and practical method to repel rabbits from your garden is to spray with I Must Garden Rabbit Repellent. It works and it’s guaranteed. You can quickly and easily protect all your plants from rabbit damage. Spraying your plants with I Must Garden Rabbit Repellent will make your garden less appealing to rabbits and they’ll go elsewhere to look for food and shelter.

Dental Care For Pets in Clondalkin, Dublin
Tumblr media
Did you know dogs and cats can suffer from dental problems just like humans? People commonly consider bad breath in their pets as normal but it can be a sign of painful dental disease. Plaque can build up on pet’s teeth, this can harden and become tartar. Not only can tartar itself be irritating and painful for your pet, it can also cause gingivitis (gum disease) and hide tooth decay. Chronic gum infections harbour a lot of bacteria which can affect your pet’s heart, liver and kidneys over time.
DENTAL CARE
The best way to prevent tartar build up is with regular brushing with pet friendly toothbrushes and toothpaste. However brushing isn’t always an option, so there are dental chews and treats available that can reduce plaque and prevent tartar build up. If your pet already has significant tartar on their teeth we often recommend a dental scale and polish.Chronic gum infections harbor a lot of bacteria, which can affect your pet’s heart, liver and kidneys over time.
Dental Scale and Polish
Your pet will need to go under a general anaesthetic to have their teeth cleaned. Once they are asleep we will clean their teeth using an ultrasonic scaler to remove any tartar. Once the tartar is removed we can fully assess the health of the teeth. In some cases we need to remove teeth that are loose and causing pain. After this the teeth are polished and your pet woken up from their anaesthetic. Everything to Know about Dog Dental Cleaning
Tumblr media
As with humans, pets also need ideal oral care to protect healthy teeth and gums. However, they cannot carry out these hygienic practices by themselves, so it is the onus of their owners to take care of the health. The most crucial step is visiting professional veterinarians for dog dental cleanings. Vets consider medical records and current conditions before diagnosing any underlying problems. They even polish dentition to produce a sparkly white smile. Here are some things people should consider before they schedule a procedure.
Involved steps
The very first step involved in dog dental care is administering safety measures. Professionals provide ideal amounts of eye lubricant for protection against external factors. Then, they rinse a pet’s mouth with chlorhexidine solution to decrease any bacterial serialization. As for their own safety, vets wear protective masks and protection gears for the eyes.
Then, they start with an oral examination to check extra-oral structures. Each tooth is evaluated individually for any abnormalities, such as fractures, disorders, abrasions, caries, and other troubles. Veterinarians use probe and explorer instruments to assess subtle changes in the shape, size, or color of dentition. Once finished, they note these observations on the dental records.
A laparotomy sponge is used for liquid absorption from the neck or pharyngeal area. Then, dentists utilize an ultrasonic scaler to remove calculus sediments deposited around a tooth. For more hardened calculus, performing appropriate periodontal therapy, extractions, or other surgeries can prove vital in avoiding risks of edentulism.
Once all these steps are finished, veterinarians use fluoride because it eliminates the growth of caries. Some also opt for sealant barriers after professional cleanings around the gingival area. Furthermore, polishing is useful for removing etches present in a tooth. The polishing procedure halts bacterial growth in these crevices.
After-care guidance
After a dog’s dental procedure, veterinarians will discuss everything performed during the appointment. If there are any signs of a severe illness, they may administrate follow-up consultations or prescribe any antibiotics. Furthermore, professionals recommend feeding habits with necessary habits ideal for protecting teeth from caries. Especially after extractions, owners must feed them soft habits that are easy to chew. It ensures fast healing and progress. Once discharged after cleanings, dogs might experience drowsiness or drool for several hours before returning to normal. If these symptoms persist, then individuals must immediately call professionals for assistance. With ongoing care, dogs can ensure a healthy mouth for a long time.
