God ive been scrolling and thinking about how alfonse is so well guarded in his personality that nobody as a stranger will ever see a genuine version of himself. He's kind of like an onion??? like in order to get clearance to be my unlicensed therapist friend you will have to pass the 9 circles of hell (his brain) and only then may i consider establishing a connection with you. Like even diplomacy aside, this guy is just always guarded but since the player has GOTTEN that clearance for a while its been harder to spot but there's still moments.

YES !!! THESE THOUGHTS ARE COMING FROM THE CONVERSATION ABOUT HIS MODERN CLOTHING STYLE! I did a bit of a dive on elm's styling choices and they are so right when they say clothing tells a lot about someone's personality. Alfonse dresses himself KNOWING that information, he's OPENLY conscious about it. im glad argyle sweaters is unanimous bc there's no way he wouldn't have at least one. no damn way--and on that note, sweaters are thick, and depending on the style, can totally hide a lot of defining parts of the figure. Taking that in a metaphorical sense, of COURSE he'd gravitate towards these garments and others that can tell the onlooker the story he WANTS you to see. I can't think of any off the top of my head but long coats would be another as well as a lot of basics. blank slate but also there's his own little spin in there... he wants to be seen as just a guy! no need to be worried!! (full of schemes)
