So… funny story, this redraw of my old art last year was supposed to be my tribute piece for TMNT Day back on Tuesday but as usual, life got in the way and it took me a couple of days to get it done. Anyway… HAPPY BELATED TMNT DAY!

Cillian Murphy: A Tribute.
Eyes you could swim in, but we should be so lucky.
He is a man utterly captivating in his beauty, and his enigma, with cheekbones so sharp, and so delicate, they could open your envelopes—and eyes wide, misty, and blue. These are eyes capable of summoning the most intimidating threat, or expressing the most paralyzing fear (they also represent the best, most prolonged stare on the big screen since Elijah Woods in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.) When he isn't busy being compelling to look at, #cillian murphy happens to be a pretty formidable actor, too. Indeed there are actors, and then there are Actors. Cillian is the latter. He is what we in the industry refer to as a Tour de Force!, which we exclaim with a cry and wild gestures of our hands. When Cillian Murphy is in a movie, chances are it's going to be good—but you know for a certain fact he will give it no half-measures.
Put simply, we love #cillian murphy. We have no choice, absolutely none at all, but To Stan. And best of all is the knowledge that he would absolutely hate this tribute.
So let's hope he never sees it x

A well-known Georgian transgender model has been murdered, local officials said, a day after the government passed legislation that will impose sweeping curbs on LGBTQ+ rights in the country.
Georgia’s interior ministry said Kesaria Abramidze, 37, was believed to have been stabbed to death in her apartment in suburban Tbilisi on Wednesday.
Georgian media later reported that a man had been arrested in connection with the crime.
Abramidze was one of the country’s first openly trans public figures. Her death follows controversial legislation on “family values and the protection of minors” that will allow officials to outlaw Pride events and censor films and books.
The law, which was approved by the Georgian parliament on Tuesday in its third and final reading, includes bans on same-sex marriages and gender-affirming treatments. It is expected to be another point of contention between Georgia and the EU as the country seeks to join the bloc.
Critics argue that the bill, initially introduced by the ruling Georgian Dream party in the summer, mirrors laws enacted in neighbouring Russia, where authorities have implemented a series of repressive anti-LGBTQ+ measures over the past decade.
Although the motive behind Abramidze’s murder remains unclear, her death was swiftly cast by Georgian civil society as part of a state campaign against minorities in the country.
Under the Georgian Dream party, which has taken an increasingly anti-liberal stance, the country has seen a rise in violence against LGBTQ+ people.
Last year, hundreds of opponents of gay rights stormed an LGBTQ+ festival in Tbilisi, forcing the event to be cancelled. This year, tens of thousands of people marched in the capital to promote “traditional family values” at an event attended by the ruling party amd the deeply conservative and influential Orthodox church.
“There is a direct correlation between the use of hate speech in politics and hate crimes,” the Social Justice Center, a Tbilisi-based human rights group, said in its statement reacting to the murder.
“It has been almost a year that the Georgian Dream government has been aggressively using homo/bi/transphobic language and cultivating it with mass propaganda means,” it added.
On Wednesday, Josep Borrell, the EU’s top diplomat, called on the Georgian government to withdraw the “family values” law, warning it would harm Georgia’s chances of joining the bloc. The legislation would “increase discrimination & stigmatisation”, he said on X.
After Abramidze’s death, Michael Roth, the Social Democratic party chair of the Bundestag foreign affairs committee in Germany, echoed that call. “Those who sow hatred will reap violence. Kesaria Abramidze was killed just one day after the Georgian parliament passed the anti-LGBTI law,” Roth wrote on X.
The introduction of the law comes just five weeks before parliamentary elections that many see as a litmus test of whether Georgia, once one of the most pro-western former Soviet states, will now drift towards Russia.
The country’s pro-western president, Salome Zourabichvili, whose functions are mostly ceremonial, is expected to veto the law before it comes into effect. However, Georgian Dream and its allies have enough seats in parliament to override her veto.
Earlier this year, the Georgian Dream also pushed through the divisive “foreign influence” law, which western critics argue is authoritarian and Russian-inspired, and has derailed the country’s EU aspirations.
Meanwhile, tributes have started to pour in for Abramidze, who represented Georgia at Miss Trans Star International in 2018 and had more than 500,000 followers on Instagram.
“Kesaria was iconic! Provocative, wise, incredibly brave! A trailblazer for Georgia’s trans rights,” Maia Otarashvili, a Georgian political scientist, wrote on X.
Zourabichvili said the murder should be a “wake-up call” for Georgian society.
“A terrible murder! The death of this beautiful young woman … should not be in vain!” the president wrote on Facebook.

Typography Tuesday
In March 2023, we posted about our friend, Wisconsin graphic designer, letterpress printer, stonecutter, radio personality, and collage and book artist Mike Koppa and his little adventure in type cleaning. He was engaged in bathing an entire case of 10 pt Franklin Gothic Condensed type, which led him to cleaning more cases of Franklin Gothic in different sizes, which led to him printing a book using every piece of type he had cleaned. The result is this book, Understanding This Book, or, Zen and the Art of Metal Type Maintenance, or, Let's See Your AI Do This by Augustine Maxwell Jones, a pseudonym Koppa has used in the past. The book was printed in 2023 at Koppa's Heavy Duty Press in Liberty Township, Wisconsin, in an edition of 18 copies. It is essentially a list of the 20 steps it took to the ultimate printing of this book. He writes:
When all my drawers of Franklin Gothic type needed to be cleaned, the mundane but necessary shop maintenance task turned into a book about the process. The result is a 20-page book featuring every last sort from nine California job cases of genuine ATF Franklin Gothic typefaces—maybe not older than the hills, but definitely older than me—in varying stages of wear, arranged according to a variety of strategies only likely to occur when composing individual metal types by hand. The final product of this very spontaneous and time-crunched project is a bold book conveying the frantic experience of creating it, while celebrating Franklin Gothic in a typographically jazzy manner.
We can attest to the great pleasure of exploring this typographic adventure. In the colophon Koppa states that the book is:
HanD seT In all soRTs of TRue ATF FRanklIn GoThIcs, In vaRyIng STaGeS of weaR buT SoakeD & ScRubbeD aS clean AS ThEy'RE GonnA GET, baREly pRoofED, AnD pRInTED on EnouGH HAhnEmuhlE BIbLIO, BuGRA, & InGRES TO yIELD 18 cOPIES.
A fine tribute to Morris Fuller Benton's Franklin Gothic!

Amy’s green eyes melted becoming like sparkling Emeralds, round and with a hint of mischief to them. Her fair skin having a soft golden hue from the beautiful Golden Sun. No one could deny the beauty she had, almost as beautiful as any model/actress, if not even more so. Amy was short, maybe 5 foot 5. She had dirty blonde hair that smelled of lavender and peppermint, and her hair was set in absolute untamed but super tight and super beautiful but absolutely wild Irish Curls. Her face was soft and round complete with two emerald green eyes, pink plump lips, a button nose, and a bit of fat to her cheeks. A natural look and some freckles that dot across her cheeks and her nose. Her skin was a fair color and soft almost having a porcelain like texture and color. She was dressed in a pair of jean shorts, and a KISS concert t-shirt that must have belonged to an older brother or a cousin or her dad, and a pair of pink checkered vans. She wore a watch on her right wrist, and a few bracelets on her left wrist. She had one of this waitress aprons around her waist with pockets in the front that could hold her phone, pads of paper, and pens. She worked at a local bakery/diner. It was a rainy morning on Tuesday, May 1st, 2024, and she was making sure the bakery was ready for costumers, even with the rain pouring down. The inside of her left wrist was covered with diamonds colored like the American Flag. Underneath was a tattoo of repeating numbers, 5959, in tribute to let late grandparents and she looks over as two males walk in; Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, the Super Soldier couple, Captain American and the Winter Soldier. “Good morning! What can I get you gentleman?” She asked as she walked over. A jacket over her shirt which was covering her mark.
It was a rainy Tuesday morning. Steve and Bucky had been out on their usual morning run. The rain caused them to cut it short and they'd decided to stop in the diner before heading home.
They'd picked the diner because it was on the way home. And there wasn't a lot of people. When the couple walked in they were greeted by a very beautiful , petite blonde. Steve and Bucky almost tower over her.
Bucky was the first to speak. " Morning! We'd love some coffee and some food... It's not too early right." He asked noticing no one else seemed to be in the diner.

Okay, yes, Tummy Tuesday has its power, but I feel like setting up my station for two hours of tattooing in a bit might be a bit sexier. Or at least slightly more pressing.
Anyways, there's the weekly tribute for you sinners. Enjoy, @xenasaur @catboybiologist and all the usuals.

Lynching victim Rubin Stacy’s story being told by his family in film screening at NSU
Tumblr media
Anne Naves knew something bad had happened to her uncle when her male relatives came home from fishing, each wearing a pall of silence. Dad wasn’t cracking jokes like usual. Grandfather looked grave. And her uncle, Rubin Stacy, hadn’t come back. The next day, someone from the funeral home said a body had been dropped off.
Naves, 8 years old at the time, only discovered the full gruesome truth about her uncle years later. On July 19, 1935, acting on an unproven accusation from a white woman, a masked lynch mob strung up Stacy under a Fort Lauderdale tree, hanged him and shot him 17 times as spectators gawked and children laughed.
The brutality and silence of Stacy’s lynching is revisited in the new documentary, “Rubin,” which will screen on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Nova Southeastern University. In the hourlong film, the farmhand’s death is recounted through the eyes of his surviving descendants, but mainly through Naves, who was the last living eyewitness to the trauma — and to the secrecy — that followed.
The film, the first to be made by relatives of Stacy’s family, also chronicles the history of lynchings in America, used as a tool of punishment and to foster silence.
“I think (my family) knew that, without telling us (kids) what really happened, they would save us a lot of trauma,” Naves says in the documentary. “The neighbors and our church members respected our silence, too, because they knew that if it could happen to our family, it could happen to theirs.”
For “Rubin” director Tenille Brown, who is a cousin of Rubin Stacy, the film has in recent weeks also morphed into something else: a posthumous tribute to Naves. After filming her interviews for the documentary, she died on Sept. 18 at age 96, leaving behind a strong legacy: She was a Broward County educator for 25 years, teaching at Pines Middle and other schools.
“The biggest piece of the film was Anne,” Brown says in an interview with the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “Without her, there’s no story. She’s the driving force. She was ready to talk. She told me to record her. She really pushed me when I didn’t feel confident and said, ‘Record me anyway. Just go.’ ”
The rest of America witnessed the cruelty of Stacy’s lynching long before Naves did. A series of photos immortalize the moment when a white crowd gathered around Stacy’s body hanging from a tree. These images ran in newspapers nationwide, were published by the NAACP, Life magazine and National Geographic, and are now archived in the Library of Congress.
It was a tale of Jim Crow-era racism that Fort Lauderdale would’ve rather forgotten — the brother of a corrupt Broward County sheriff participated in the lynching — but city officials have made strides in recent years to acknowledge the tragedy by placing memorial markers around Fort Lauderdale. One is on Davie Boulevard and Southwest 31st Avenue, also known as Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, near where Stacy took his last breath. There’s another on the 800 block of Northwest Second Street, where he lived, and a third at Woodlawn Cemetery, his final resting place. In February 2022, a section of Davie Boulevard was renamed Rubin Stacy Memorial Boulevard.
“I’m glad they acknowledged it,” says Brown, of Pompano Beach. “These stories make some people in the state uncomfortable, but if they are based on fact, we need to tell the truth. You can’t turn your head. These are things you can’t ignore.”
For Brown, it was these memorials — and Naves’ willingness to break her silence — that motivated her to reconstruct Stacy’s story. To do so, she also interviewed Ken Cutler, Parkland commissioner and historian, and Tameka Bradley Hobbs, library regional manager of Fort Lauderdale’s African American Research Library and Cultural Center.
“My family didn’t want to talk about it out of fear for years,” Brown says. “There was shame. There’s an element of hurt, and you can hear that emotion in Anne’s voice. Now it feels freeing. This is a story that was suppressed for years and by sharing it, this is how we overcome.”
Michael Anderson, a producer for “Rubin,” says the film also tackles what too many school textbooks don’t stress enough: the history of Black lynchings.
“For Black youth to know their stories, they have to know the history of lynchings,” Anderson says. “They still don’t know how lynchings were used as a weapon to keep a community quiet. That’s exactly what it did to Rubin Stacy’s family.”

I'm assuming in both AUs that Coryo and Lucy Gray are still around by the time of the 74th hunger games and all of that. So how does all that play out in each AU? In the district AU do they have any connection to Katniss at all? In the capitol one does Coryo still have a weird grudge against Katniss or does Lucy Gray talk him into being more sympathetic toward her? What happens to the families of both AUs when the revolution comes?
Good question,
Just as a fact in both AUs, katniss and Lucy gray are blood related. Katniss is Lucy Grays first cousin twice removed
………………………… ✨
Capitol AU
Lucy Gray indeed watched Katniss's games with her grandkids after she and Peeta captured the attention of the First Lady during the interviews, particularly impressed by Peeta's bold declaration of love. Despite her reluctance to admit it, Lucy Gray, like many in the Capitol, found herself captivated by their performance. However, she stopped watching after Rue's death and Katniss's emotional rendition of "Deep in the Meadow," which hit too close to home.
Lucy Gray was surprised to learn that Katniss and Peeta emerged as victors, knowing her husband's inner fury over the outcome. She had to work to calm him down, fearing a repeat of what happened 24 years prior with Mr. Abernathy. Though Lucy Gray managed to exert some influence over Coriolanus and his malicious tendencies, it wasn't substantial. She appeared as a graceful, weary figure, exuding the scent of roses, when she met Katniss in person during the end of the victor tour, engaging in a genuine conversation unlike many others in the Capitol. Neither of them knew about their familial connection, a fact that would remain unknown for quite some time.
In the rebellion, Lucy Gray plays a minor role that ultimately safeguards her and her children from facing execution at the end. However, tension arises when Katniss negotiated grant immunity to all victors comes in the way with Coins plan to include Coriolanus's grandchildren in her symbolic Hunger Games, an idea that Lucy Gray finds outrageous.
Lucy Gray decides not to witness her husband's execution. Instead, she stays with Rosalyn and her family, fearing the temptation to do something reckless or foolish. Coriolanus meets his end as he did in the original story, facing the wrath of an angry mob who beat him to death.
………………………………✨
District AU
District AU during the 74 hg its not really well thought out and through yet. Coriolanus, portrayed as an emotionless commander of District 12, appears to the public as someone who casually sends people to the Hanging Tree every Tuesday, almost as if it's routine. The identity of the president in this AU is still uncertain (suggestions are welcome), but the Games remain unchanged and continue to operate without necessarily requiring a figure like Coriolanus Snow to oversee them.
Lucy Gray would know Katniss and her family as now being actually involved with the covey in this AU, She might have even cradled Katniss as a baby, echoing her interactions with her father. When Maude Ivory gives birth to her son, Lucy Gray bursts through the door, urgently making her way past Colton with a casual “MOVE BITCH!” to attend to the newest Covey member. Despite Coriolanus holding a secure and influential position in the district, both he and Lucy Gray chose not to reside in the wealthier part of District 12. They prioritize the safety of the kids and Lucy Gray her connection to the Covey, especially Lucy Gray, who dislikes being viewed with disdain. While it's unclear if they later live together, it's imaginable that Lucy Gray steps in to help raise Primrose and Katniss, with Coriolanus maintaining a distant or dismissive presence at best.
Side note: despite Coriolanus's influential position, he is unable to prevent Primrose from being reaped due to unforeseen circumstances or obstacles. Consequently, the Hunger Games proceed as planned with Katniss who volunteers for prim and Peeta as tributes. Haymitch and Lucy Gray would be their mentors.
He did tho went through Katniss names quite some time for getting tesserae for her family, being told each time not to do that. Each year being “this is the last time Everdeen-“, until next year “12, 13, 14…15?!”.
What happens during the revolution I’m not sure but I’m sure not the bombing of 12 that sounds like a 100% snow move (and if none of my babies is going to the heavens above-)
