I've been away a while, but regular posts should be happening soon.

And so begins my Trench crusade!

The McMillan Brothers

Arden and Maxwell McMillian come from the farmlands in the midlands of England, far away from the frontlines in New Antioch. They joined the Pilgrimage of Saint Joan, in an effort to atone for their sins.

Arden, the older brother of the two, was known in the small community as a incessant liar. Nothing he said could be trusted. He was always looking for the words to gain something on the others.

The younger Maxwell was quick, alert and stealthy. He never stole much, but oftentimes he would steal something from the general store or a pie from the neighbors window sill. While he never set out to cause harm, or stole anything of high value, he was eventually caught.

Maxwell was taken to the preacher, who told him of the war in Europe. New Antioch and the legions of hell. Many knew of the war, but with how far they were it seldom touched their lives. The preacher informed them of The Pilgrimage of Saint Joan, and Maxwell convinced Arden to join the pilgrimage as his repentance.

Arden's status as a liar has led to him taking a vow of silence, which he shows by gagging himself before battle. Not even Maxwell has heard him speak since they crossed the boundary of their home.

Maxwell, for his part, has taken a scouting role. As the pilgrimage moves through the war soaked lands, he stays in front, using his talents to look out for ambushes.

Perhaps once they reach New Antioch, their self-penitence will be done.

I have never played these type of games nor have i any idea how they work but trench crusade makes my brain go brrrr

Like the whole aesthetic and lore are so fucking cool. I hope they release some books like Warhammer, i really wanna read some cool stories set in this universe

Trench Crusade!

So recently, myself and some friends got into Trench Crusade, an upcoming skirmish based wargame - thus far it looks like great fun, and we've been playtesting over the last few months. It's basically "Hell is literally invading earth, its 1914 and everything is awful"

Normally, I don't particularly love the "doomsday cult/mindlessly ending the world" faction, but fell in love with a particular group called the Dirge of the Great Hegemon. The short version is that Beelzebub sends super plagues that reanimate the dead, when enough are reanimated by a strain they form a plague angel called a hegemon. This makes all the infected smart again, and fills them with images of plaguey paradise. But if the hegemon is defeated, all members of that strain are banished out of shame, and are forever cursed with the knowledge that they are failures.

This is... Great. I looked at that and went "how does an undead react after undead jesus arrives on earth, dies, and now you're banned from hell and know that undead heaven is now out of reach"

and my thought was "you turn to religion"

So I made the Knights of the Resurrection, followers of the lost hegemon Yersinia Rex, who hope against hope that if they just spread His Will far enough, he will return and forgive them for their sins.

Now I'm a bit poor to be kitbashing right now, so it was time for some MS Paint + Cardboard times.

These little guys inspired me enough to write a good chunk of the Yersinia Bible, a clearly accurate book of prophecies written by a fallen Lord of Tumours named Seethe.

And as you march across this forlorn world, raise your voice in song, let the unbeliever know that the Redeemer is dead, and that the slaves of the Pretender have killed him.

Making a semi interactive Trench Crusade map! It'll have some major locations mentioned in lore attached to their (relative) real world (according to auto map data) locations along with notes from the lore primer related to each.

Yo you mentioned making art inspired by Warhammer. I was wondering hows that going. Also something that is similar that i think you might enjoy in Trench Crusade. Pretty dark and ominous designs, kinda like the plague marines of Nurgle from WH 40k.

I'm still working on it actually thanks for asking, writing the story so i can start making an issue 0.5 and a bit of a in-world field guide/lore bible right now. I'll look into trench crusade, heres some uhh.. sketches

Hachi and Margrete

Hachi and Margrete have become fast brother and sister in arms, two people from disparate parts of the world who stand united in their pilgrimage.

Hachi comes from the east. Nobody truly knows how he made it past the hellscape between his homeland and the European front. Regardless of how, Hachi now fights with the Pilgrimage of Saint Joan towards New Antioch in the middle east, traveling back in the direction of his homeland through the fires of war. When he first arrived in Europe, he had little knowledge of the war and the religion of the Pilgrimage. After much time with the pastors, Hachi was a convert and joined up with the pilgrimage. He follows a code he has called "Bushido," an unfamiliar word to those in the pilgrimage, yet his personality, fervent zeal and firm honour have led him to become a somewhat popular member of the pilgrimage.

Margrete hails from France, and met the pilgrimage there. As they moved through the country, Margrete joined up with the intention of becoming a stigmatic sister. She was found wanting, and not allowed to join the Stigmatic Sisterhood of d'Arc. During the next battle, she took the weapon and shield off a dead man and raced into the fight herself. It was in this battle she met and became fast friends with Hachi. Few can stand to the pair of them with their shields and trench guns, and Margrete's pious nature is seen as second only to the Sisterhood of d'Arc, and the fury she fights with on the battlefield is second only to the Witchburners.

currently homebrewing a Mesoamerican vampire warband for Trench Crusade. Will post the full homebrew rules, lore and model pics once ive painted everything, but for any big TC homebrew heads here's a quick sketch.

First of all, here are the beastarium models i got for the warband.

A couple things aren't defined yet but ill try and provide a quick explanation for now. There are also a couple of units i havent bought models for yet that i have also yet to figure out stats for.

One of them will definitely be a Sorceror variant, the Bruja.

Ducat/gory values yet to be hammered out.

XIBALBAN BLOOD REAVERS

KEYWORDS

BLOOD DRINKER: any time a unit with this keyword kills an enemy in melee combat, this unit gains the Keyword TOUGH, even if they have already been revived and lost the TOUGH keyword before.

BLOOD STARVED- For any 6 rolled in melee combat attacks this unit inflicts 1 Blood Marker.

BLOOD FRENZY: For every Blood Marker inflicted by this unit in this turn, that unit may make an equal amount of additional attacks. Any blood marker generated by those attacks cannot incur further attacks.

SPELLS:

VAMPIRIC SORCERY: While this unit is alive, roll 1d6 at the start of every turn. The amount you roll can be applied to use that many of any available blood markers on any enemy unit, not just the ones afflicted with blood markers

POT OF GORE: Roll 1D3 at the start of the skirmish. This generates 3 Blood Markers that can be used via VAMPIRIC SORCERY.

EJECAME: One enemy within '12 LOS must take a blood marker.

Re. My byzantine weeb army for trench crusade. Unfortunately, my faction variant isn't allowed, but New Antioch has mech units, so we're using their rules instead to represent auxillery forces loyal to Mt. Athos and the orthadox faith.

One of the Thelematarioi Auxiliary Units in support of the Order, the princes of Hellas quickly send these volunteer forces to the front line before they begin agitating other locals against the new faith.

OMP (Orthadox Mecha Pilot) 1, code name NiKILLas, is slowly being turned into my first Angel with a Shotgun.

I was gonna wait until he was finished, and suitably Greek, but I was too eager to make the Sanguinius joke
