Did the minister's wife fart?
I find I can't get excited about the prospect of listening to the old guard of the independence movement talking the same talk they've been talking since 2012 while the movement itself fails to walk any kind of walk at all.
Does it make sense to “try to extend the constitutional reform debate to the English left”? George Kerevan says so. So, I guess it must be so. Although he might have put at least a token effort into explaining what sense it makes. That sense is not as obvious to me as it is to George. Elsewhere in this newspaper we have its editor, Laura Webster, pontificating that it would be “wise to consider”…

Tom Nairn and the power of nationalism
I only realised this week that the great Scottish political theorist Tom Nairn had died at the end of January, at the age of 90. The Scottish writer Gerry Hassan assessed his large legacy in an article in The Scottish Review. Hassan, a friend of Nairn’s, reminded us that Nairn had been influential over a long period of time in a whole range of political debates: about the nature of Britain’s…

== Love Notes ==
Hey there lovelies! I hope the end to your week was good to you! A lots happened in the last 48 hrs, and I apologize I'm so late sharing some of it. Please let me know if I missed anything! I love how much people are really stepping up the love for cast members after all the Emmy stuff that went down. I see everyone just aggressively (I say affectionatly) loving so many of them and it's so heart-warming and uplifting. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but your love and kindness is so incredibly impactful. You may never get to see the fruits of your love (although the cast and crew does tend to show us they hear us) but know that every little bit builds up. Maybe someone was having a bad day, and seeing how much we love them gave them that extra boost to get through it-- you never know! There is an old greek proverb: "A society grows great when [folks] plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
That is really true about kindness and support and love too. You are sowing the seeds and roots of a better tomorrow, even if you yourself never get to see the branches and fruit that love produces.
Never let the harshness of the world dim your light lovelies. Your kindness and love moves mountains tiny bits at a time.
I hope you all have a wonderful, fairly uneventful weekend (unless you want it to be eventful!) and get some good rest <3

== Love Notes ==
Hey Lovelies! I hope you're hanging in there. We're getting to the end of the week, and it's a long weekend for a lot of folks in the U.S.! Hopefully you've got some downtime planned (no matter where you are), you deserve a break.
Tonight I wanted to send a reminder to try and give yourself some self care this weekend. I've been very bad about it this week and my body is finally telling me so, so here's some gentle reminders for you!
Remember to take your meds today!
Drink plenty of water! Yes I know tea is delicious but it can dehydrate you, so remember to drink some water too when you get a chance :)
Take a shower or a bath, you'll feel way better afterward!
Eat something yummy, and something healthy too! Give your body something it wants, it'll tell you what it is.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep, if you have an extra day off-- take advantage of that! Sleep can do wonders for your mental and physical health.
Try to laugh if you can-- watch something funny, read something funny, look up a terrible dad joke on the internet-- ask a friend for a laugh. Laughter can do so much for us and helping to release some of our fight or flight stressors.
You're doing great lovelies. I know it's been a lot lately, but you're really doing great. You've been working so hard, and you're making incremental progress towards your goals. I'm really proud of you. Remember to be proud of yourself too <3 You are such an amazing person, and you deserve to rest too.
Happy weekend all <3 See you on the flip side.

Dos siglos de la cuestión nacional
Tumblr media
DANIEL FINN

Game of Thrones Convention 2022 - Day 2:
Seems a little more eventful but still fairly quiet. Isaac Hempstead Wright could not make it for the ‘Young Kings’ panel due to loosing his passport, which is a shame for it would have been nice to get some insight on the production of season 8. However Tom Glynn-carney & Jack Gleeson were still at attendance and had a good conversation. I think a lot of people tend to forget that Joffrey was only 12 when he was crowned king, so yes a young king indeed.
I didn’t get to see anything from the Paddy Considine (Viserys), Steve Toussaint (Corlys), and Alfie Allen’s (Theon) panel, Ryan Condal’s panel and the Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Daniel Porter, Esmé Augusta, Kristofer Hivju’s panel. However if any of these panels surface, I'll be sure to make future posts discussing anything I find of interest said on these panels. All-in-all not much happened. DJ Kristian Nairn held a dance party at the ‘Kngs Landing Theater’ and fans took part in a cosplay competition.
I must state clearly in case of confusion (My fault completely) I did not attend the convention myself. I am just reporting on what I have been able to watch, see and read posted around various internet media platforms and form a written summary on my blog.
Oh I almost forgot there was an announcement made on the Game of Thrones Twitter to “alert the realms” and that “ News about Game of Thrones attraction coming to Las Vegas will be announced tonight at 6PM PT..” Turned out to be well... I don’t really know. The teaser posted revealed nothing showcasing what the attraction will be except “ Dragons are coming to Las Vegas.“
Tomorrow should be interesting...hopefully. (Fingers crossed)

A Versatile Career: Muzz Khan's Journey In Acting And Music
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Muzz Khan, born in 1981 in Burnley, Lancashire, is a versatile and talented actor and DJ. His performances are captivating. Khan's on-screen presence is like a symphony of emotions, while his musical talents extend beyond the stage. As a DJ, he creates crowd-pleasing sets that pulse with energy and emotion, transporting listeners to abandon their daily 9-to-5s. His life and career is a testament to the enduring power of artistic exploration, where one individual's passion transcends tradition to create a legacy that echoes through entertainment’s rich history.
Early Life And Education:
Muzz Khan, born in Burnley and raised in Nelson, Lancashire, was born to shine in the world of performing arts. His journey began at Edge End High School, where the BBC chose and elected to film an episode of the Patricia Routledge-led,  detective series "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates." This visit ignited his passion for acting and sparked his determination to pursue his dreams. Khan attended Accrington and Rossendale College to study a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, where he honed his skills and built a foundation for his future. It is noted that he received a Distinction grade there for his studies.
He then attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in South Kensington, London, where he trained alongside fellow students and now renowned actors Rupert Friend, Natalie Dormer, Tom Mison, and Elyes Gabel. His time at drama school wasn’t a happy one but he was encouraged by Rupert (Friend) to continue his studies and not throw in the towel. Khan's journey from Lancashire to London and later to Los Angeles, is a testament to his passion, tenacity, pursuit of excellence, and the single-minded vision to set the stage for his remarkable career.
Acting Career:
Muzz Khan began his professional acting career in 1999 with a voice-over (ADR) role in "East is East." Khan initially auditioned for a part as one of the core cast members but his lack of experience at a young age and casting fit were not deemed to be quite right at the time. He has since appeared in various UK television shows, including "No Angels" and "Bradford Riots”, on Channel 4. "24: Live Another Day", for Fox Television, "The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher”, for ITV Studios, and "Black Mirror: White Christmas", playing the amusingly-titled character of Fappuccino. In 2016, he starred in the American, ABC musical comedy "Galavant" with Robert Lindsay, Timothy Omundson, Weird Al Yankovic and others. Khan's versatility is clear in films like "Me Before You", "WONKA" and "The Hatching".
He has also performed at prestigious theaters, including the Royal National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Noel Coward Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, the Bush Theatre and The Wyndhams Theatre in London’s West End. Khan's talent extends to radio drama, narrating novels such as A.A Dhand’s Virdee detective series – which has just been commissioned for television by the BBC for 2024 – and bringing stories to life in dramas on BBC Radio 4.
Music Career:
Muzz Khan, a renowned DJ, began his music career in 2007 in London. He gained recognition in the music scene, performing as a resident at iconic venues like Pacha London, the Ministry of Sound, KOKO and the O2 Academy Brixton and renowned events like Mixmag, EP/IC, Defected and Hed Kandi. Khan's energetic and crowd-pleasing sets, specializing in house music and multi-genre, have captivated audiences across the UK and beyond.
He has performed at venues like Bush Hall, Electric Brixton, Studio 338, Lightbox London, EGG LDN and Ibiza's Space Nightclub and Es Paradis. Khan served as the resident DJ for the 2016 UK tour of "Rave of Thrones" alongside actor Kristian Nairn. He is currently a resident DJ for Hed Kandi and has made appearances in music videos, including "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit, "Feel It All" by KT Tunstall, and "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" by Seamus Haji.
Personal Life:
Muzz Khan, a devoted husband and father to a loving family of five, finds solace in the sanctuary of his parental world. Nestled in the countryside of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. His personal life serves as a testament to the balance between fame and family life, reminding us to cherish the bonds of family, the haven of home and to remain grounded.
Conclusion:
Muzz Khan's career spans acting and music, showcasing his versatility and dedication. For over two decades, he has been a shining beacon in the entertainment industry, captivated by his artistic exploration and innovation. Khan's acting is a symphony of dramatic and comedic delight, while his DJing continues to help dancing crowds to find liberation and freedom through music. His journey is an ever-evolving climb, pushing the boundaries of artistic possibilities and reminding us that the only limit to our potential is the extent of our imagination. Khan's passion, versatility, and dedication to the arts make him a testament to the boundless possibilities of a dynamic career in the entertainment industry, particularly as a working class, British-Pakistani actor.

"Nation, nationality, nationalism — all have proved notoriously difficult to define, let alone to analyse. In contrast to the immense influence that nationalism has exerted on the modern world, plausible theory about it is conspicuously meagre. Hugh Seton-Watson, author of far the best and most comprehensive English-language text on nationalism, and heir to a vast tradition of liberal historiography and social science, sadly observes: 'Thus I am driven to the conclusion that no "scientific definition" of the nation can be devised; yet the phenomenon has existed and exists.' Tom Nairn, author of the path-breaking The Break-up of Britain, and heir to the scarcely less vast tradition of Marxist historiography and social science, candidly remarks: 'The theory of nationalism represents Marxism's great historical failure.' But even this confession is somewhat misleading, insofar as it can be taken to imply the regrettable outcome of a long, self-conscious search for theoretical clarity. It would be more exact to say that nationalism has proved an uncomfortable anomaly for Marxist theory and, precisely for that reason, has been largely elided, rather than confronted."

Read more: The best movies on HBO Max What's new on HBO Max in March March 6 - Perry Mason, season 2 premiere (2020): Period drama. Perry, Della and Paul brace themselves for the murder trial of the century. - Rain Dogs, season 1 premiere (2023): Dark comedy. It chronicles the life of Costello Jones, a devoted mother who wants more for her precocious young daughter, Iris. March 12 - The Last of Us, season 1 finale (2023): Post-apocalyptic series. It explores themes of power and family dynamics through the eyes of patriarch Logan Roy and his four grown children. Best HBO Max original TV series At time of writing, these TV shows all score at least 70 on Metacritic. Comedy Jake Giles Netter/HBO Max Our Flag Means Death (2022—) In this comedy set on the high seas, Rhys Darby plays Stede Bonnet, an aristocrat who abandons his cushy life and family to become the captain of a pirate ship. Spoiler: He hilariously bumbles through the gig. Game of Thrones fans may spot Hodor actor Kristian Nairn hanging out among the crew, and the series also stars Taika Waititi as Blackbeard. Nathan Fielder, best known for his Comedy Central show, Nathan For You (and cringe comedy), writes, directs and stars in this new HBO series. In the show, the comedian goes to extraordinary lengths to let people rehearse moments before they happen. In the first episode, Fielder helps a man prepare for a confession to a friend, and builds an exact replica of the bar they're planning to meet at (the attention to detail is incredible). After planning for any outlandish thing that might happen, we see how the real exchange between the two friends plays out. Bizarre and truly fascinating, The Rehearsal should get some time on your screen. HBO Max A half-hour comedy series from Issa Rae (the star and creator of HBO's acclaimed series Insecure), Rap Sh!t introduces two former friends from high school. Shawna is an aspiring, socially conscious rapper, and Mia is a make-up artist and single mother who works multiple jobs. By the end of the first episode, the young women (now in their 20s) have reconnected and filmed a mesmerizing rap video that takes off on the internet. The show's protagonists are phone-obsessed, constantly checking up on social media and recording videos, and it impacts the viewing experience in interesting ways. HBO Max The great Jean Smart rightfully takes the spotlight in this acclaimed comedy-drama series. Throwing iPads into swimming pools and delivering withering looks, Smart plays Deborah Vance, a legendary Las Vegas comedy diva who must face the prospect of appealing to a younger audience or disappearing into obscurity. She's partnered with Ava (Hannah Einbinder), a young and equally snarky comedy writer, to freshen up her material. Perfectly balancing its biting insight into how the comedy business treats women, with the warmth of an odd couple buddy comedy, Hacks is one of the best originals to come out of HBO Max. HBO Max Starstruck is a classic screwball comedy, starring the lovably goofy Rose Matafeo. She plays Jessie, a twentysomething Londoner who parties it up on New Year's Eve, then later discovers she had a one-night stand with Tom Kapoor, a celebrity played by Nikesh Patel. Follow Jessie as she juggles odd jobs, from cinema worker to nanny, and her blossoming relationship with a film star that involves no high jinks whatsoever. Watch out for scene-stealer Minnie Driver as Tom's agent in this witty, neatly crafted comedy package. HBO Max The Sex Lives of College Girls (2021—) Mindy Kaling co-created this dramedy about four 18-year-old girls who start their freshman year of college together in Vermont. Equipped with distinctly different personalities, the college newcomers navigate love and sex in their own ways. The show is funny, easily bingeable and bolstered by the chemistry between its female leads. A contemporary teen comedy showcasing messy experiences, relatable characters and raunchy jokes. HBO Max I Hate Suzie sees Billie Piper team up once again with Secret Diary of a Call Girl writer Lucy Prebble. The result is a frenetic tour de force of ideas, steered by a vulnerable performance from Piper. She plays the titular Suzie, an actress who, moments after winning a part in a Disney movie, discovers she's one of the victims in a celebrity phone hacking scandal. Each episode explores a stage of trauma, tackling the question of how compromising leaks both upend and perhaps liberate a person's life. Amid the ruthless satire is a wonderful friendship between Suzie and her manager Naomi (Leila Farzad). HBO Max The Righteous Gemstones (2019—) This outrageous series highlights a highly dysfunctional family of famous televangelists called the Gemstones. In the show's first season, a member of the family is blackmailed, and ridiculous antics ensue. John Goodman stars as the family patriarch, Eli, and Danny McBride, Edi Patterson and Adam Devine also commit to the bit, pulling off an absurd and addicting black comedy. The second season of the show just wrapped up, and HBO has already renewed the series for a third. HBO Max From the minds of the gang behind Horrible Histories comes Ghosts, a sitcom that manages to become better and better with every episode. The ever-reliable Charlotte Ritchie (Feel Good, Call The Midwife) stars as Alison, a woman doing up the old mansion she inherited with the help of her amateur builder husband. On top of money problems, their reno plans aren't helped by the ghostly residents who want the house to themselves. If you're on the look out for purely light-hearted viewing, Ghosts delivers a high gag rate, a talented comedic ensemble and even an endearing arc of friendship. Most of all, it's gleefully silly. HBO Max The sibling rivalry is strong and primed for hilarity in this comedy from a couple of Saturday Night Live writers. Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider tell the story of Cary (Drew Tarver) and Brooke (Heléne Yorker), siblings in their late 20s who struggle with the sudden rise to internet fame of their 13-year-old Justin Bieber-channeling brother. Molly Shannon is a treat as their mother, Pat, ushering her children through open doors to success. Once you get over the gimmicky premise, The Other Two's pop culture satire and surprisingly heartfelt storylines are a winning combination. Schitt's Creek fans should give this a look. HBO Max In Barry's opening scene, SNL alum Bill Hader casually leaves a hotel room that contains a dead body. The actor plays hitman Barry Berkman, who isn't happy with life or his unconventional profession, but his path is altered when he travels to Los Angeles and gets roped into performing in an acting class. Barry features plenty of violence and a deeply troubled protagonist, leaning into the "dark" part of its dark comedy designation. But it's also really funny, and there are three seasons to binge. At the very least, you'll want to tune in for truly great scenes between Hader and his acting teacher, played by Henry Winkler. HBO This satirical show follows the family controlling the world's biggest media and entertainment company, whose members become embroiled in a battle to take over as their father's health declines. HBO Max Search Party caught the eye of HBO Max, shifting to production with the streamer in its third and fourth seasons. The latter is arguably its best yet, taking the story of four, clueless millennials to even greater extremes, including a bizarrely brilliant Susan Sarandon cameo. But we begin when twentysomething Dory becomes an amateur detective to track down a missing woman she barely knew in college. Really, she's searching for something else: herself. Equally conceited are her boyfriend Drew, the scene-stealing Elliott and the hilariously blonde Portia. This oddball show somehow creates the perfect cocktail of dark humor, mystery and insane characters. A collector's item that won't come around very often. HBO Max The best TV show of 2021 might already be here. It's a Sin follows a group of young gay men living in London during the '80s, just when HIV/AIDS was first diagnosed. This unique look at the early stages of what became a death sentence is handled with creator Russell T Davies' trademark irrepressible joy for life. The warm, empathetic characters continue to live their lives to the full, flitting between bustling share houses and local bars to the beat of a popping '80s soundtrack. Fast-paced, stylish and eye-opening, with a prevailing sense of hope, It's a Sin is a soaring triumph for everyone to fall in love with. HBO In the words of CNET reviewer Richard Knightwell: "2020 sucked. You got up every morning and it all was all just a tiny bit worse. But every now and then a ray of sun would appear through the clouds. One of those bright spots was Betty, a fly-on-wall-style tale of skateboarding teens in a balmy New York. Utterly real and breathlessly dreamy at the same time, HBO's TV follow-up to the indie hit Skate Kitchen painted a picture of young women facing the world head-on, pushing off and gaining speed and reducing obstacles into things waiting to be jumped over while looking cool. My baby daughter turned one while this show was on, and I can't wait to plonk her on a skateboard. I hope she finds a Betty crew of her own." HBO Max This black comedy takes us from London to Newcastle, Australia, following the misfortune of a woman who loses everything after the untimely death of her husband (don't ask how he died). Broke and desperate, Sammy is forced to return to her hometown with her son and daughter, where she soon discovers she isn't exactly a popular resident. The cringe factor is strong as Sammy does everything in her power to return to London, with some standout moments when she reunites with her bickering brother. Drama Liane Hentscher/HBO This TV adaptation of a popular video game follows hardened survivor Joel (The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal) and spunky teen Ellie (Game of Thrones' Bella Ramsey) as they face human and not-quite-human dangers in a post-apocalyptic world. HBO Max The White Lotus (2021—) What was initially a limited series was so good HBO renewed it for a second season. The satire about guests at a fancy resort gradually unveils the darker edges of its picture-perfect postcard. The White Lotus features an ensemble cast, including Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Steve Zahn, Molly Shannon and more hilarious people, who make this series soar. If that wasn't enough, a murder mystery with the big reveal waiting till the very end will keep you thoroughly entertained. Seacia Pavao/HBO Max Following the life of television chef and cookbook writer Julia Child, this drama doles out a generous serving of humor and charm (and delicious-looking food, of course). Sarah Lancashire is endlessly watchable as the famed American cook, who paved the way for future cooking shows with her long-running series The French Chef. All eight episodes of the season are available on the streamer now, and HBO Max has confirmed it's dishing out a second season. HBO Euphoria's second installment is on HBO Max now. This visually stunning series has garnered its fair share of fans, and it's not hard to see why -- the absorbing performances, cinematography and exploration of mature topics make this show shine. If nothing else, stick around to see Dune star Zendaya, who plays teenager Rue. HBO Max A dramatized miniseries that draws in part from a 2004 documentary of the same name, HBO's The Staircase is an enthralling take on a true-life story with fleshed-out characters and an all-star cast. Colin Firth stars as Michael Peterson, a novelist and husband to Kathleen (Toni Collette), who is found dead under suspicious circumstances. You'll want to tune in to see what happens next. Sophie Turner, Dane DeHaan, Parker Posey and others also lend their talents to the drama. Carole Bethuel/HBO In this captivating limited series, Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, 2018's Tomb Raider) plays Mira, a young movie star who takes a role outside her normal blockbuster -- a criminal gang's muse in a remake of real-life French silent film The Vampires. The HBO show is based on a cult 1996 film of the same name, and both are directed by Olivier Assayas. HBO Max With Station Eleven, post-apocalyptic TV fans are in for a treat. The show's nonlinear storytelling will keep you on your toes, and well-conceived characters add to the appeal. As most of humanity succumbs to a flu-like virus, a young girl named Kirsten and an adult named Jeevan take shelter from the scourge. But from there, the show immediately launches 20 years into the future, which opens the story up to new dramatic turns and keeps us guessing at the past. It's really good TV, and it will likely satisfy those who don't typically opt for post-apocalyptic stories. HBO Small-town detective Mare Sheehan investigates the murder of a young woman, but Sheehan's own life is marred by personal struggles, including a divorce and the death of her son. Animation HBO Max Harley Quinn is an adult-oriented animated series that centers on the baseball bat-wielding antihero. Kaley Cuoco voices the mayhem-prone Harley, who in the first episode breaks up with the Joker and tells him she's going to replace him as the top villain in Gotham. The hilarious, action-packed show also features characters like Poison Ivy, and three seasons are available to binge. It premiered on the DC Universe streaming service before moving to HBO Max. HBO Max Adventure Time: Distant Lands (2020-21) Two years after Adventure Time ended, this four hour-long special came along, and it's a brilliant treat for fans of the animated series. The miniseries nails the spinoff brief, introducing new characters and expanding on the Land of Ooo universe, while remaining true to its source material. Its heroes Finn and Jake, his magical doggo pal, set off on new adventures, along with Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen and BMO. The hourlong format is a nice way to change up and add to the exciting storytelling. A surprisingly emotional ride packed with every ingredient that made the original so beloved. Thriller HBO Max The Tourist starts its engine with an intense car chase in the Australian outback. More specifically, Belfast star Jamie Dornan is mercilessly chased off road and through the desert by a semitrailer. The next thing we know, Dornan's character is in the hospital with complete amnesia. A fun and twisty miniseries, The Tourist lets us tag along with Dornan as he searches for answers. One mystery that doesn't need solving? What you should watch tonight. HBO Max The Flight Attendant (2020-22) This compulsive thriller starring Kaley Cuoco is one of the best new shows to come out of HBO Max. Cuoco plays Cassie, a reckless flight attendant who sleeps with a passenger on a wild night out. She wakes up in Bangkok with barely any memory -- and a dead body in bed with her. With the ghost of the deceased helping her piece things back together, she sobers up and takes on the mystery of what happened. Watch out for a fantastic title sequence, as well as a surprisingly dark psychological layer. But mainly enjoy the amusing combination of an inept detective bumbling through the world of cold killers. Superhero HBO Max Following the events of 2021's The Suicide Squad, this DC spinoff catches up with Peacemaker (John Cena), our towering, costume-clad protagonist who's just been released from the hospital. Peacemaker believes he's a superhero, but with his oft-repeated phrase about attaining "peace, no matter how many people I have to kill to get it," the title doesn't really suit him. The show establishes Peacemaker's next steps -- he isn't returning to prison, but instead taking part in a black ops mission that will (again) get his hands dirty. The show often lands its jokes, and you'll especially enjoy its entertaining supporting cast. Documentary HBO Award-winning filmmaker Nanfu Wang (One Child Nation, In the Same Breath) directs this fascinating docuseries about the 1985 murder of 68-year-old Helen Wilson in the small town of Beatrice, Nebraska. There's a lot to the story -- six people were convicted for her murder and exonerated 20 years later. In the first episode, we learn about the impact of these events on Wilson's family and the Beatrice community. The show also introduces Burt Searcy, a former police officer who decided to tackle the case. Crime HBO Max Season 1 of Tokyo Vice, a crime drama based on a book by journalist Jake Adelstein, has slickly stepped on to HBO Max. Set in Japan in the late 1990s, this noir follows an American journalist (Ansel Elgort) who eagerly joins the staff of a major Japanese newspaper. A world of grisly murders, neon nightclubs and powerful crime bosses awaits. Paul Schiraldi/HBO This well-reviewed crime miniseries comes from David Simon and George Pelecanos, who've also worked together on The Deuce, Treme and The Wire (which Simon created). It's directed by King Richard's Reinaldo Marcus Green. Based on a nonfiction book written by a Baltimore Sun reporter, the absorbing, six-episode show explores police corruption through a story about the Baltimore Police Department's Gun Trace Task Force. HBO Max With its fifth and final season, this Italian crime drama based on a true story has carved itself a place among the great mafia shows. It stands out for its realistic portrayal of the Naples underworld, following a clan's internal power struggle after its head is arrested. With a dark, claustrophobic atmosphere and believable characters, Gomorrah is a refreshing and complete piece of TV. Read the full article

Tales of Asgard Casting
Asgard:-
Algrim the Strong (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje)
Odin's trusted advisor. Lost his entire race in a three way war between Svartalfheim, Jotunheim and Asgard. Odin's father Bor, having defeated the Dark Elves, made peace with the Jotuns. To keep said peace he elected not to stop their march on Svartalfheim decimating the realm and its people. Bor brought Algrim to Asgard out of pity, believing him to be the last of his kind. Algrim then struck up a friendship with Odin.
Balder (Alexander Skarsgård)
The eldest son. A little older than Thor and is an Einherjar in training. The favourite son, Odin frequently asks him for his opinion. Admires his father greatly.
The golden boy. Finds things too easy in general and pals around with Volstagg and Hogun, not taking things too seriously.
He is one of the Warriors Three in the first series instead of Fandral. He gets into the Einherjar despite the Sword of Surtur incident. He becomes more serious after this.
Balder is one of Thor's training partners and becomes his sole, private trainer after the Sword of Surtur incident.
He has his eye on Nanna from the Royal courtiers.
Fandral (Zachary Levi. I just enjoy his performances. Sorry Joshua!)
Son of courtiers, of an age with Thor. Appears sporadically in s1 as a teen. Replaces Balder in the Warriors Three after an episode in s2. Sporadic appearances from parents and sister.
Runs very fast! (Not as fast as Quicksilver). Talks very smooth! Loyal and brave!
Frigga (Renee Russo)
Frigga is more reasonable than Odin and just as wise, we should see that. She can make proclamations and even disagree with him in public. If he is stubborn she uses more subtle methods.
Everyone respects her opinion.
She has taught Loki well, but he wants to know things that Frigga won't teach.
Haldor (?)
Haldier's son. Einherjar in training. Falls for Sif at first sight. Brave and honourable.
Receives Gullenbursti to pull his chariot. Bequeths it to Sif upon his death.
Haldier (?)
Asgardian blacksmith.
Heimdall (Idris Elba)
Guardian of the bifrost. Wise and just can see almost anywhere in the nine realms. Has the gift of foresight, often sees trouble coming.
Hodr (Kristian Nairn? Ha! A tall person)
A member of the royal court. Gentle. Visually impaired.
Hogun (Tadanobu Asano)
Originally a Vanir. Moved to join Einherjar during long established peacetime between Vanaheim and Asgard. Overly serious. A little cynical. A fine warrior. Brave and loyal.
Loki Odinson (Tom Hiddleston/Sophia Di Martino when Loki changes sex)
The troubled middle child. He senses that Odin has never truly liked or trusted him. He envies his older brother Balder who can seemingly do no wrong. He envies his younger brother who is rewarded even when he screws up.
Loki is jealous, devious and mischievous.
Taught by Frigga to shape-shift, he sometimes loses himself in the new form, resulting in some interesting children.
His father took Sleipnir, Loki's foal when he grew big and strong as he was very fast.
His father took Jormungundr, his baby serpent as it grew big and dangerous.
Similary, Odin brought Fenrir back as a pup from a quest in Jotunheim. He gives it to Loki to raise and we frequently see the wolf with him. Only heartache follows once again.
He finds a kindred spirit in Sigyn, who teaches him illusion casting and other dark magicks.
When he changes sex he is played by Sophia Di Martino. Instead of her blond wavy look in the Loki series it is long, dark and straight like boy Loki's.
Lorelei (Elena Satine)
Once Lorelei begins to explore her gifts she loves the thrill of the power it gives her over others.
Punished for taking the menfolk of the nine realms in her thrall and the devastation this leaves in her wake, she takes terrible revenge on the Asgardian royal family.
Odin (Anthony Hopkins)
The all knowing Allfather. Outwardly arrogant and crochety, Odin is feeling the strain of all his secret and not so secret misadventures and conquests possibly coming back to haunt him. Though less warlike than in his younger days he is still prone to rash judgements and sometimes rash actions. He is trying to be more considered as he is genuinely trying to keep the peace. Frigga sees the strain of this task and tries to help him walk the path.
Still has a twinkle in the eye when it comes to adventure, but all too aware of the consequences now. He likes to tell his boys tales of his adventures, but Loki's disbelief and mockery sometimes makes him wish he never started.
Blows hot and cold with his boys. Mostly cold to his youngest, Loki, due his origins.
Hugin and Munin are his crow spies.
Sif (Jaime Alexander)
A strong candidate for the Einherjar, rejected for her dalliance with the Valkyries. Clever and skilled, she is more than a match for Thor. Unfortunately Thor never sees it.
She finds comfort with Haldor, but heartache soon follows.
Tries to bring some much needed wisdom to the Warriors Three without much success.
Replaces Freya in all the tales that feature here. Sister to Volstagg. Daughter of Njord.
Sigyn (Noomi Rapace)
Not high born and fully aware of it. Ambitious in outlook but always feels like an outsider. Naturally drawn to Loki as an "in" to the Royal court, but genuinely likes him and is aggrieved by his treatment at Odin's hand. She undermines Odin to him, getting him riled up about things that Odin and his family have done and encouraging him to be ambitious. She wants Loki on the throne.
An accomplished sorcerer, she teaches Loki illusion casting and other dark magicks. We see her teaching Loki some things that Frigga wouldn't. But where did she learn them?
Sigyn replaces Amora as Sylvie is clearly the MCU's Enchantress.
Siegrold
Friend of Haldor and Sigyn
Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth)
The spoilt youngest. Adores his father and puts too much stock in his tales, believing glory in battle is the measure of a man and a king.
Full of bravado, rash and foolhardy. Has a good heart underneath.
Has his goats, Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr, to pull his chariot when he can't use the bifrost.
Volstagg (Ray Stevenson)
Replaces Frey in the old Norse tales that appear here. Enjoys eating, storytelling and a good fight. Sif teases him by saying they used to call him the fairest of the gods. Then he pats his tummy and says, "Is this not a thing of beauty?"
Full of bluster and tall tales, Volstagg is actually a fine warrior when he gets round to it. Loyal and brave.
Brother to Sif. Son of Njord. Captain of Skidbladnir.
Captain Ander (?)
Leader of the Einherjar in s1.
Captain Harokin (?)
New Captain of the Einherjar in s2. At some point after s2 ends, the Battle of Harokin is pretty much started by Harokin's death. When Thor and Sif joke about the battle of Harokin (TDW), Thor can profess that he misses Harokin. He was a fine warrior. RIP.
Elliot Randolph (Peter MacNicol)
Don't actually know this character's Asgardian name.
Tyr (Clive Russell)
Skurge (Karl Urban)
An ordinary soldier in the Einherjar at this point.
+Various Einherjar
Eir (Alice Krige)
Frey (?)
Very beautiful. Brother to Freya.
Freya (?)
Very beautiful. Sister to Frey.
Grace (Eliza Matengu)
Hidegund (Claire Brown)
Nanna (Alicia Vikander)
Recurring guest star. Develops a relationship with Balder over 2 seasons.
Njord (?)
Father of Volstagg and Sif. Taken by Skírnir as a husband, his second marriage.
Skírnir (?)
Giantess. Marries Njord as consolation for the death of her father.
Frey's employee
+Various courtiers
Alfheim - Light Elf
Various female Light Elves in the Lorelei episode, also occasionally appearing in Asgard.
Jotunheim - Frost Giant
Laufey, Thrym, various Frost Giants

Simply credited as death. Guest stars in the final episode(s?), though she never lets on who she truly is. She enjoys Odin's pain by proxy.
+Various unValhallan dead and the undead.
Hymir (?)
Skadi's uncle. A giant.
Utgardaloki (?)
The leader of Utgard. A giant. A trickster, hence the nickname.

“Nationalism" is the pathology of modern developmental history, as inescapable as “neurosis" in the individual, with much the same essential ambiguity attaching to it, a similar built-in capacity for descent into dementia, rooted in the dilemmas of helplessness thrust upon most of the world (the equivalent of infantilism for societies) and largely incurable.

Hey there lovelies! Happy Friday! I hope you've started your weekend off having fun and are getting some rest!
It seems like spirits are up today! I don't know if it's just from the polite menacing yesterday, or all the excitement and sightings with the convention happening-- but I'm really loving seeing people in good spirits. I know we've all had a bit of a rough time of it lately, and we deserve to enjoy life a bit for a change!
This life has so many wonders to offer-- if you happen to be in Europe, the Northern Lights are going on right now and all the pictures everyone has shared have been absolutely stunning. I've never gotten to see them in person before-- but the photos are radiant, I can't imagine what it'd be like IRL-- please if you haven't seen them and they're still around tomorrow go out and take a peek!
Something else I've noticed the last couple days crew, is a lot of you are feeling more comfortable talking about your insecurities and fears with each other. This is really wonderful, because so many people are coming out and are trying to support one another in them-- and that's what crew is all about. Seeing people build their confidence bit by bit with every interaction, it makes me feel so incredibly fuzzy inside. Every day you continue to grow into these wonderful little remarkable beings, and getting to see that blossoming in you all over the past few months has been a serious privilege. You aren't your insecurities lovelies, and while those feelings are absolutely valid, I hope you can get to a point (if you aren't already there) where you can hold them in your heart, feel them, give them love, and let them go so they too can heal the parts of you that caused them in the first place.
We're all on your side crew, I hope you know that. You are an etherial soul in a delightfully beautiful little shell, remember to love yourself too so you can keep blooming into that exceptional gleam of wonder that you are. Happy Weekend Crew, I hope your next few days are filled with good times and laughter <3
