Hey just a random thought, I was thinking about this for a while now and someone in the past mentioned it so its nice to know I'm not the only one that thought about it at some point. This will be a bit scattered? so bear with me pls: Soo its about Skeleton Monsters and Human skeletons, I think I came up with a little theory on why they can be so their and how bazar a monster skeleton bone structure can be in different worlds.. so here is a thought, you know how humans have flesh and stuff to cover up the bone and such, skeletons monsters don't have flesh in the human sense so their bones can be morphed into what ever they need at that period or accommodate the story setting their in. Without the need to accommodate organs or flesh, their bodies can adapt quicker seeing as they got magic mixed in as well. i mean in many aus and even the original game itself, the skeletons have physical features like facial features such as smiles, EYELIDS, they can move their cheek bones etc and make expressions unlike human skulls and exclusively in aus they also have ecto flesh (mimicking human flesh in a way) and in other cases can mimic other things like a fish tails, shark tails (Leviathantale) , dragon bodies, bat wings with flesh (Tipping the Scales and Winged Multiverse) etc Even in your style the arms of characters are thick bones which resemble a more human outline when in clothes even though they are just bare bone. Basically what I'm saying is I think creators unknowingly or knowingly gave undertale au (including the game itself) skeletons another ability, the ability to mimic organic features (haven't seen a skeleton mixed with an object yet so cant say "inorganic" features yet lol) :V (Just my personal headcanon I guess XD) Huh.. Undertale skeletons are on a whole different level ( •_•)

YES! ★ Thank you for articulating this!! (*’∀’人)
I do agree with this theory that skelemonsters are not just skeletons pulled out of humans but a separate species, able to adaptヽ(´▽`) It's about wider bones, "muscles", liquid like you said, etc. ☆
