You may have seen Anthony Boyle on your screens recently as Harry Crosby in Apple tvs 'Masters of the air' or as Kevin Maxwell in 'Tetris', but where have you probably seen him before?

Before he rose to fame in 2016, he was in an episode of 'Game of thrones' as a Bolton Guard in the episode 'The laws of gods and men'. But he doesnt stay for long as he gets his throat cut.

His rise to fame started in 2016 when he landed the role of Scorpius Malfoy in the play 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' for which he was nominated for an Olivier and won. He went from a small local actor from Belfast to suddenly the main actor in a play that the world couldn't stop talking about. He spent three years running around in a blonde wig at the Palace theatre in London and the Lyric theatre in New York where the play is still shown to this day.

After this, he landed small roles such as David Donnely in 'Derry Girls', a comedy which is set in the town of Derry in Northern Ireland which is his home country. His friend, the writter of the show, approached him and asked him if he wanted to be in the show and he accepted, being in it for two episodes.

In 2018, he was cast as Jack Argyle in the BBC drama 'Ordeal by Innocence' which was written by Agatha Christie. A show about a family of adopted children who must work out who killed their mother, unfortunately, the blame is landed on Anthony Boyle's character.

In the same year, he played Liam Farrell in the drama series 'Come home' where he starred along side Christopher Eccleston. A mother unexpectedly abandons her husband and three children and they try to figure out what may have caused this.

In the year after, he played the role of Geoffrey Bache Smith in the biopic 'Tolkien' about the life of JRR Tolkien. Boyle plays one of thr actors closest friends through their time at school and during the war.

In 2020, he was in 'The plot against American' featuring Wynona Ryder. Based on the 2004 book by the same name, the story follows a Jewish working class family set in an alternate America where they watch popularist Charles Lindbergh, an aviator-hero and xenophobe, become President.

In 2021, he played Brian Wood in the true story of 'Danny Boy', a soldier who is accused of war crimes in Iraq.

2022 was a quiet year for Boyle as covid had stopped the production of most tv shows and movies but in 2023, Boyle starred along side Taron Egerton and Toby Jones as Kevin Maxwell in the biopic 'Tetris' which revolves around the game Tetris, its origins and how it became one of the most famous video games in history.

However, in 2024, Boyle seems to have won the lottery with four projects coming out this year already. The first, 'Masters of the air' where he plays an air sick navigator in world war two with Austin Butler. The series which is made by Apple tv is set to be released over two months from January 26th to March 15th.

And if you're not already sick of seeing his face, his new show (surprise surprise, on Apple tv) is set to release on March 15th. Boyle plays the famous actor John Wilkes Booth in 'Manhunt' who assasinated President Lincoln in 1865 and follows the days after this as the nation slides to a halt in the search for the actor.

He is then set to play Jack Barak in the Disney plus show 'Shardlake' which is set on the book by the same name. Set in the reign of King Henry VIII in the 16th century, Boyle plays former Cromwell henchman turned law clerk and investigator for the main character.

Boyle is also set to feature in the New York times best seller book adaptation say nothing which is about the struggles and troubkes in northern ireland which comes out this summer.

These are just some of the many tv shows, movies and theatre shows that Anthony Boyle has and will star in. When he was just starting out acting, he said that he would take any role that fit his description (white male with dark brown hair) meaning he was in alot of embarassing but funny stuff. One where he dresses up as a mummy for halloween and must escape a group of killer clowns, one where he plays a man who is inlove with a pillow and one where he plays a convict on the run in Northern Ireland and has to wear a dress and a wig to escape authorities. However, if you lived in Belfast in the late 2000s, you could probably see him lurking behind big Tescos with a plastic bag on his head.

It seems that Boyle is turning out to be a very promising actor with lots of work lined up. Infact, he is set to record a new show which is set in Scotland. He said on the British talk show 'Sunday Brunch' that he is looking forward to it and has to talk in a Scottish accent.

Ghost Story - Chapter 51

Pairing: Rooster x Female OC

Summary: No one will miss a ghost. It'd been a running joke for as long as anyone could remember, something Ghost herself started, and she always said it with a smile on her face or with mirth in her voice. The untouchable stealth pilot in every sense of the word, no one could've predicted the depth of her turmoil over recent events, nor the extremes she would go to in order to protect the man she loved, not even those closest to her. Now, all that was left of the young aviator for Maverick, Hangman, and Rooster were the memories of the past, which would slowly fade with time. She'd come into their lives and made an unforgettable impression, and then, like a ghost, she was gone... Then again, ghosts can't die a second time.

Maverick

"Hello?" Penny called out, stepping into the house with Toby, who immediately went straight for his food bowl. Ghost and Rooster's heads popped up from the couch at her voice.

"Hey! How was the trip?" Ghost asked, pushing herself off the couch before helping Rooster. The pair approached Maverick and Penny to hug them. 

"Oh, it was great!" Penny exclaimed, beaming.

Ghost, barely biting a grin, prodded, "Anything exciting happen?"

"Oh, not much." Penny held up her left hand, showing off a new, glittering diamond on her ring finger. Ghost squealed in delight and went in for another hug with the happy couple, Rooster on her heels. 

"I'm so happy for you two!" Ghost exclaimed, stepping back to give them some space. She leaned into Rooster, who, unbeknownst to her, smiled softly at the contact.

It didn't go unnoticed by Penny, who said, "How are you two doing?"

Ghost picked up on the insinuation, biting a full-fledged grin as she glanced up at Rooster. "We're doing much better," she said. He kissed her forehead in return. "Do y'all need any help unpacking?"

"No, we got it, but you're welcome to hang out and chat while we do."

"We have extended our stay long enough. Surely you're sick of us being in the house," Rooster said, wrapping his arm gently around Ghost's waist.

"Never, but we also realize you're adults and have lives, and-" Penny briefly glanced at Maverick- "I think if you two faired okay while we were gone, I don't think we have reason to believe you won't be fine going back to your places."

"If you need a ride to your apartments, let us know," Maverick added, his heart lurching at the mere idea of either of his kids leaving already. He'd nearly lost both of them in one fell swoop, and to lose sight of them again sent his nerves into overdrive. Even being on vacation and checking in on them every day had been painful, despite the trip meaning to be for such a happy occasion. 

"It's okay. Hangman is swinging by to pick us up," Ghost said. "Rooster's decided to stay with me for a bit, so we can help each other while we get back on our feet."

"Speaking of which, I think our ride is here." Rooster nodded at the window where Hangman's pickup truck could be seen outside. 

"I'll get your bags," Maverick said, offering what he hoped was a believable smile. His kids must've been convinced because they didn't question it. He grabbed their bags from the living room and carried them outside to the truck.

"Hey, Pops," Hangman greeted, opening the back of the truck bed. Mav slid the bags onto it. "Do I need to congratulate you on an engagement?"

Maverick shook his head in surprise. "Wh- how did you- we haven't told anyone but Ghost and Rooster."

Hangman shrugged. "Figured it was the only reason you would've stepped away from those two. Plus, Ghost mentioned you bought Penny a ring. Add in the timing with the vacation, and it adds up. Congratulations, Pops!"

"Thanks, Hangman." He shook the young aviator's hand. "And thanks for taking them home. I appreciate it."

"Always happy to help." He waved at someone behind the captain. When Maverick turned around, he saw Penny standing on the porch. After giving Rooster and Ghost one more hug, he waited until Hangman's truck disappeared from view before strolling over to his new fiancée, who had sat down on the steps. He knelt in front of her, and she reached out to cup his face.

"What is it?" Penny asked softly.

"Logically, I know they're okay. Logically, I know that either of them would call if there was an emergency. But hearing them get shot down, seeing them eject, seeing Rooster cradling Ghost in the waves the same way I did with Goose, knowing Ghost coded-" Maverick choked up and looked down to hide the tears welling in his eyes- "But I can't stop thinking about how close I came to losing both of them in one go because I wasn't up there with them."

"Pete, if you had been the one to get shot down, you already know Rooster would've stayed behind for you, and I have no doubt Ghost would've too. Then it would be risked that you and them would be trapped in enemy territory."

"But at least I would've been with them..."

"And then the world might've lost all three of you. Pete-" Penny lifted his chin with her finger, forcing him to look at her.

"I want to tell her," Maverick said quietly. "I want to tell her the truth about her dad, but she's just getting her feet on solid ground. The mission's over, she's made up with Rooster and Hangman, and I've seen her give a real smile for the first time in months... I don't want to rip the rug out from under her feet if she's not okay with the fact that I'm her dad and not Nathan. When I read Charlie's letter and discovered the truth, I felt honored to be the dad of such an amazing kid. Thankfully, I think she took on more after Charlie than she did me."

"If Ghost did take on after you, and I think she does, that'd be a blessing to her."

"What do I do, Penny? Do I tell her or not?"

"It's up to you, but Ghost has idolized you for years, and she's grown close to you, so I believe she'd be receptive if you told her. Maybe she already knows."

"Then why hasn't she said anything if she does?"

"Because maybe, like you're afraid of her not wanting the title of being your daughter, she's afraid you may not want to have the title of being her dad. Why don't you go to your warehouse for a few days, think it over, and when you make a decision, you come back?"

Maverick shook his head. "No, I should be here with you. We should be celebrating."

"Pete," Penny said gently with an understanding smile, "we have all the time in the world to celebrate, and I'd rather have all of you with me for that than have only some of you. Take a few days, okay?"

He took her hand and brought it to his lips, kissing the back of it. "I love you."

"I know. I love you too. You should get going before it gets too dark."

Nodding, Maverick stood and kissed her goodbye. Grabbing his keys, wallet, and the letter from Charlie, he swiftly got on his motorcycle and took off down the road, letting the wind rush past and momentarily take his stress with it. Of course, the moment he came to a stop inside his warehouse, the stress returned immediately, and Maverick let out a long sigh. How would he even begin to tackle this problem? Charlie left him no instructions in the letter outside of telling him the reason for keeping it a secret and that Ghost had no idea Nathan Winchester wasn't her actual father, that it was Maverick instead.

He shuffled over to his workstation and pulled out a box from underneath it. Removing the lid revealed a stash of photos he didn't have the heart to hang up or get rid of. He dug through them, searching for one specifically, a picture from a long time ago, a happier time, before the breakup, before Goose died, before Maverick lost so much...

He found the picture at the bottom of the stack. His younger self beamed at the camera with Charlie, his arm around her shoulder. Maverick stared at the image, his vision blurring with tears. He never admitted it to Penny, but part of him had been silently furious with Charlie for never telling him about their daughter, his daughter. At least for a bit. She claimed in her letter that Mav wasn't ready to be a dad, and sure, he may not have been, but he realized now he would've done everything in his power to be the dad Ghost deserved, even if it meant giving up his career. He would've found a way to split his time between her and Bradley because God knows Bradley needed him too. 

The more Maverick thought about his two kids, how both needed him, how, because of Charlie's choice, Bradley had gotten the closest thing he could to a dad after losing Goose, and Ghost had grown up with a steady father figure as well, a man who did a great job raising her despite knowing she wasn't his biological daughter. That realization lessened Maverick's anger. Ghost hadn't missed out on having a dad, nor had Bradley in a way. Still, Mav harbored guilt for not being there for Ghost throughout her life, for not being there for her during important milestones. Of course, he could make it up to Ghost now if she wanted him to be in her life like that, but that brought him to the question which started this whole process in the first place: does Ghost want me in her life as her dad?

Maverick set the picture down and rubbed his face, sighing deeply. The silent solitude was almost worse than being surrounded by people because he had no one to distract himself from his spiraling thoughts. Now, he was forced to face them. 

Pushing himself up, he shuffled to his speaker and turned it on, syncing it with his phone to play some music. Then he grabbed his tools and began working on his plane. It'd always helped him when he was stressed out before. Maverick prayed the same thing happened this time too. He couldn't afford to have it not to.

ECU High School AU Part 2

Lucky - His real name is Louis but after passing his final drive in Driver's Education all of the sophomores called him Lucky. He totally nerds over Deke's Impala even though it's not a racer. They talk about cars so much with Steve, Mike M. and Scott that they formed their own auto club at the school. Charlie comes to the meetings to talk about motorcycles every now and then. Vince teases him about his "stupid" nickname even though he's secretly jealous that Lucky's parents were able to buy an old Maserati MC12 as his first car.

Charlie - He saw "The Wild One" once and decided to make that his entire personality. He's actually planning on opening his own mechanic shop once he graduates. Scott was able to hook him up by getting him an apprenticeship at his father's company. The money he made from that was enough to buy a brand new Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle. He always shows up to any club meeting Scott's at to talk about motorcycles as compensation.

Rusty - His real name is Russel but everyone calls him Rusty for short. He's that sophomore who's always talking about girls he crushes on and that's his only personality. He crushes on girls so much that tried out for the football team as Walter G's back up to impress them. Clint ended up getting picked over him so he joined band and dance club instead. Naturally Vince thinks he's a sissy because the dance club's really ballet. Ironically the only one who listens to him when he goes girl happy is Toby. He even acts as Toby's math tutor.

Lonnie - He fantasizes so much that you get the idea that this is a young kid who wants to make his otherwise dull life more bearable. He daydreams so bad that Vince calls him and Ted, "the Cloud Twins". It wasn't until he entered his freshman year, that he was introduced to the wonders of theater. Turns out he's really good at improv westerns. Him and Clint are good friends as Clint tells Lonnie so many stories about what life on his family's farm is like. They actually want to open their own ranch with Pacer one day and agreed to make it a non-profit organization supporting the Kiowa tribe's mission to preserve their native language (Pacer has never felt so accepted by his peers in his life).

Johnny T. - His grandparents introduced him to silent films and he made it his passion ever since. He would volunteer to be in all of the school plays and even try to write his own. His biggest role is the high school's junior version of Aladdin where he won the lead role. He introduced Lonnie to theater at the school's club assembly. Vince makes fun of both of them since he thinks being part of the theater's lame (ironic since he's an influencer who also makes his own content).

Johnny F. (he has no official last name so I'm just giving him a random initial) - He's a huge history buff and is very inspired by vaudeville shows. He dreams about being the star of his own broadway play similar to Lin Manuel Miranda. Johnny fact checks all of the scripts Johnny T. tries to write. Johnny F. also acts as their costume designer since his girlfriend's the president of the sewing club.

Rick - He's the head of ECU High's aviation club. Rick already has his private pilot license and is only 20 hours away from getting his commercial pilot license. He gives demonstrations at school assemblies in exchange for club expenses. He's also the head of the school's STEM Club with Scott as the Vice President. Mike E. joined both clubs since he's so dedicated to becoming a pilot one day.

Mike M. - He's the president of the auto club but is also part of band and choir. He gets into arguments with Rusty a lot since he just can't stand it when Rusty goes girl happy. Mike M. has his own band that he works with during the summer and hopes they can get a hit single. He struggled to get funding as he was the only member at the time for a couple years. When Scott joined and personally contributed his allowance to the club, they suddenly had an influx of new members. As much as he wants to be jealous of Scott, he just can't since he knows the junior does everything he can to help others.

Ted - Tulsa and Josh want him to join the junior ROTC but he still needs to think about it. He's already part of the water polo and diving team so he's not sure if he can manage being part of a 3rd club. Him and Glenn are good friends as they both like to talk about classic adventure literature. He's also close friends with Lonnie since they both dream about going on adventures and finding treasure. Ted talks about finding a lost galleon so much that Vince calls him "Air head Ted".

Guy - Guy was originally part of ECU's band and choir, but he developed a passion for mystery novels. He has to break up Mike M. and Rusty a lot when they argue since he's the school's band leader. Marching band is serious business to him, so he doesn't want anyone stepping out of formation. When both Johnnys started recruiting students for the Halloween murder mystery show, he gave it a try. He's now their choreographer and stage director.

Scott - The richest and easily the smartest kid in the whole school. Ever since Chad dropped out, he was a loner who worked on his science projects. He doesn't hate anyone but Vince, but he also feels like he can't connect to anyone. It wasn't until he saw fliers for the auto club's fundraiser that he decided to join as many science related clubs as possible. He also acts as the school's tutor for all science classes, and actively makes it his mission to make sure no one fails a science class. Even the seniors go to him for help because he's that smart. The only thing Scott isn't good at is gym and Walter G. makes playful jokes about it all the time.

Joe - He's the school's history teacher. He's very dedicated to teaching students about the atrocities the Native Americans endured. He's easily Pacer's favorite teacher since he makes him feel better at being mixed race. He's the faculty advisor of the school's garden club after Clint and his friends wanted to make one. So far they only have a small green patch on school grounds but he loves the progress they're making.

Steve - He was named the Vice President of the auto club by Mike M. and has been making money drag racing. He's also very jealous that Lucky got a Maserati as a gift since he's been trying to get a Ferrari since freshman year. He's still happy with his Ford GT since it's good for drag racing but he still pines for a car that can win him the Grand Prix. Even though he's one of Scott's only friends, he has too much pride to ever ask him for money.

Greg - He's school's art teacher as well as the school photographer and Vice Principal. He's not really popular amongst the upperclassmen since he was the one who made Tulsa the hall monitor. He wants to keep order in the school and really tries to not issue out detention and suspensions. He's been acting as the interim principal for the past 3 months and no one knows why. Some students think he killed the current principal while others think the current principal had a nervous breakdown and quit.

Jess - He's the school's gym teacher and janitor. No one messes with him since they know he served in the Gulf War. They might not agree with the war, but they still give him the utmost respect. His favorite students are Jodie, Toby and Walter G. He was the reason why Toby joined the wrestling team. He knows that Jodie would take Toby joining the team as a threat and make him even more dedicated to his work out schedule. He hopes that ECU High can win the most amount of championships in a year.

Walter H. - He's the Karen from Mean Girls. He's only friends with the "Plastics" because he's the only one they know with actual mob connections. He tries to put on a ditzy nice boy face by being part of the choir. The underclassmen know better since he's always making threats about sending his "goons" after them. He's very afraid of Toby though since he's quickly becoming one of the best wrestlers in the school. He also knows Toby gets spooked easily and can judo chop someone out of instinct so he knows not to threaten him.

Dr. Carpenter - He's the school's science teacher and nurse. He's very dedicated to helping students with special needs as he acts as Toby's personal counselor. He knows that Toby needs to have specific medication to manage his conditions and works very closely with his Pop. He goes to every sporting event to make sure he can apply first aid to any injured player. Surprisingly he has to tend to Walter G. the most since he takes a lot of hits playing football. He's very worried that Walter would end up with a life altering concussion and makes a safety talk every year about the dangers of head injuries.

Notice how I didn't mention the principal. Well if this ever becomes an actual series, that's someone that I'm going to leave as a surprise reveal. Can anyone guess who it is?

Well, since my novelette Cancel Toby Chalmers! (copyright me, now) has been sitting around, completed, for nearly 16 months, I’ve decided to share it for free, until it’s later released as part of a Toby Chalmers collection.

Here's Chapter 7.

Chapter 7

“Shadrach, get out here!” Joseph McCarthy Jr. hollered houseward, from the back patio. Another vibrantly sunny day. He’d never felt more virtuous. Perhaps he’d lock himself in his home office and masturbate later. Exhilarated, he bounced on his toes.

Moments later, his nephew materialized, wearing his TRANSYLVORIA PRIDE shirt. Sighting no cotton balls on the back lawn, he relaxed his posture, just slightly.

“You look frightened today, buddy. Is everything okay?”

“Um, I guess…I mean, yeah. It’s okay, sir.”

“Look me in the eyes when we talk, boy. And what’s with this ‘sir’ stuff all of a sudden? You’ve always called me Uncle Jojo. Don’t you love me anymore?”

Dragging his gaze toward his uncle’s beaming countenance, Shadrach uttered, “Uh…yes, I do.”

“Yes, you do…”

“Yes, I do, Uncle Jojo.”

“There now, isn’t that better? You’re trembling, boy. Are you comin’ down with a cold?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Excellent. Excellent. In that case, check out what I bought ya.”

With a few prancing steps sidewise, Joe unveiled his latest purchase: a kids’ ride-on utility terrain vehicle with off-road capability, electrically powered.

“You…bought me a jeep for toddlers?”

“You’re within its age range. Why don’t ya give it a spin? This baby’s got a steering wheel and a gas pedal, and can go seven miles per hour. Plus, it’s the best color in the world: hot pink.”

“Oh…okay.”

“That’s the spirit. Take a few laps in the backyard while I figure out our lunch plans. It’s all charged up and ready to go.”

Joe disappeared into the house. After sweeping his scrutiny across the backyard’s perimeter, so as to ensure that nobody was observing him, Shadrach climbed into the driver’s seat. He stomped on the pedal and the vehicle vroom-vroomed forward.

Well, I guess this isn’t so bad, Shadrach thought, turning so as to coast parallel with the back fence. It’s faster than I walk, at least. Plus, Uncle Joseph isn’t mad at me anymore, I guess. He honked the horn a couple of times, felt the breeze in his hair, and allowed himself to grin.

A few backyard laps later, boredom set in. How long do I have to keep doing this, anyway? he wondered. Suddenly, he heard an air horn, just behind him.

“Stop the vehicle, nigger!” his uncle shouted.

“Oh no,” Shadrach murmured, fantasizing about plowing the UTV through the fence and driving forever. Instead, he brought it to a stop and turned toward the shouter.

Huffing and wheezing, his face oozing perspiration, Joe hurried over. He’d exchanged his earlier attire for a policeman costume, complete with aviator sunglasses and a phony chest badge. Its dark blue hue made his pallidness all the more striking.

Pulling a plastic gun from his belt holster, he stuck it in his nephew’s face and shouted, “Get out of the vehicle now, nigger!”

“Please, Uncle Jojo, not today.”

“Uncle Jojo? You’re no relation of mine, boy. Are you high on crack or PCP? Who’d you steal this vehicle from?”

“Steal? You literally just gave this to me.”

“A liar, too. Can even one nigger ever tell the truth?”

Fighting back his tears, Shadrach climbed out of the UTV.

“Lie face down on the grass and put your hands behind your back.”

“But that’ll bother my allergies. Please, Unc…officer…sir. Can we at least do this inside the house?”

“Are you resisting arrest, nigger?! Should I shoot you right now and save the taxpayers the cost of your prison sentence?!”

Peeking between wooden fence slats, Clara and Cora Achebe, eleven-year-old twins clad in matching green sundresses, gasped.

“I thought Daddy was kiddin’,” Clara said to her sister, absentmindedly tugging her braids, as she did when she was nervous.

“No, that mean ol’ white man’s definitely gone crazy,” replied Cora. “Look, he’s puttin’ handcuffs on poor Shadrach.”

“Grindin’ his face in the grass, too. This must be the devil’s doin’.”

“We’ve gotta help stop this. Should we call the police?”

“Not unless you can turn us white first. I’m not tryin’ to get shot.”

“Should we tell Daddy then? He could snap that psycho like a twig.”

“And end up in prison. Nah, I’ve got a better idea.”

Amongst the exalted pantheon of individuals Joseph McCarthy Jr. deemed his pal-o-roonies, Jon McLood—who ran the horror fiction review site, Pfeffernüsse of Terror—ranked at the tippy top. If not for the fact that Jon was a racially challenged, cisgender, straight male, Joe would’ve offered the guy a position at Transylvoria every time they exchanged texts.

Perhaps two years prior, they’d met at Transylvoria’s Media Outreach Luncheon, an annual event wherein Joe offered horror fiction journalists far and wide an opportunity to chat with their betters for just fifty dollars apiece.

Flouncing from table to table—a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in one hand, an apple juice box in the other—Joe had held court, soaking in every last bit of the dippy, saccharine, overdone adulation that he felt he deserved. At last, his capering steps carried him before a potato-shaped man in a green fishing vest, whose long, rust-colored beard evoked inverted Troll doll hair, stretching in sharp contrast to his bald, spit-polished noggin.

Though the luncheon’s every glad-handing grubber recognized Joe on sight, he couldn’t resist introducing himself to each new face, anyway. To Jon, as per usual, he said, “Hello, hi, and hey. I’m Joseph McCarthy Jr. But don’t worry, my dad wasn’t that Joseph McCarthy. He was liberal to the bone, just like me. He even shook Nelson Mandela’s hand once.”

“Oh, I’ve read all about it,” Jon replied. “Me, I’m jovial Jon McLood. Here, how about a friendly fist bump?”

They bumped fists, causing Joe to accidentally squeeze his juice box too hard, squirting his little straw right on out of it. He met Jon’s eyes and they were giggling.

“So, what do you do?” Joe asked, claiming a chair. Jon lifted a finger and opened his mouth. But Joe had already placed both of his fists upon his own hips, to better declare, “Me, I’m Transylvoria’s Editor-in-Chief.”

“Oh, of course I know that, you big, beautiful, silly man. I’ve been reading your magazine since it was still Draculiterary. You’re a frickin’ hero to me, like Batman and Superman amalgamated. I’d wear underoos with your face printed on ’em if you sold them. As a matter of fact, believe it or not, I started Pfeffernüsse of Terror to be just like you.”

“Pfeffernüsse of Terror? What’s that, some kind of bakery? I’ve always had a weakness for cookies.” Joe patted his bulging stomach. “And muffins and cakes, too.”

“Oh, we’re cookin’ alright, but only with words.”

“You mean…”

“That’s right, we review horror fiction, just like Transylvoria does.”

“Whose books do you focus on? Not racially challenged, cisgender, straight males, I hope.”

“Never, my friend. How could I look at myself in the mirror if I did? How could I sleep at night? We do dedicate a week to every new Stephen King book, though.”

“Of course, of course. Stephen King’s our sole exception, too. It’s like, sure, cover the best of the best of the racially challenged, cisgender, straight males, but why bother with any others? Let historically marginalized voices be heard.”

“Right? How else can we atone for our own privilege?”

“I always pay mine forward. I’ll tell you that much.”

With that, they really got to talking, for the rest of the luncheon and beyond it. Their discussion spanned not only inclusive literature, but also music, television, films, dreams, aspirations, celebrities they’d paid to be photographed with, and autographs they’d framed. They pulled out their phones and followed and friended each other all across social media. They shook hands, fist bumped, hugged, patted each other’s backs, and played grab ass, so much so that each, a few times, wondered if the relationship that was forming between them was strictly platonic.

Joe invited Jon back to his house that night for a Jordan Peele marathon. Between films, they drank hot cocoa and gossiped about horror industry politics.

Declaring themselves “platonic twin flames”, both shed tears when Jon had to fly home to Ireland the next morning. As promised, they kept in touch, texting and direct messaging each other several times daily.

So, indeed, it came as no surprise when Joe, fresh from his latest assault on his nephew’s “ingrained racism”, encountered a lengthy text from his buddy the very moment that he picked up his cellphone. It read:

Hey-ho, JOESANNA IN THE HIGHEST, ruler of all that he surveys…

I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately (what else is new, right?). This approach that you’ve come up with to combat your nephew’s racism…my friend, it’s entirely revolutionary! I mean, holy Jean Piaget! With every step you take, you bring us one step closer to smashing white supremacy! Hip hop hooray!

Sadly, my own daughter, little Ginger, has expressed bigotry of her own lately. She actually said, with her cute little mouth, “People with penises can’t be girls, Daddy.”

I felt so ashamed of her then. Transphobia in my own house! So I asked myself, “What would the wokest bloke that I know, Gorgeous Joe, do in this situation?” I’m sure that you’ve already guessed the solution I arrived at.

That’s right, I’m scheduling gender-affirming surgery for little Ginger. Soon, she’ll have a penis where her vagina once rooted, and will know once and for all that gender is determined by spirits, not bodies. The other kids at her elementary school will learn from her example, I’m sure.

Due to brave, forward thinking men like us, this beautiful planet of ours might just have a chance after all. Otherwise, we’d just end up with a bunch of Toby Chalmers’ tearing everything down to satiate their destructive, bigoted ideologies.

You’ve heard about Toby Chalmers already, I’m sure, but on the off chance that you haven’t, he’s this bizarro fiction writer that thinks blacks should only come out at night, because every race, blacks included, hates people of African descent. He also wrote terrible things about black actors and rappers. What kind of monster doesn’t like “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”?

Joe had an erection, he realized. Lightly stroking it through his pants with his free thumb, he clicked the link and began to read.

“Hey, Shad. Yeah, you. Come talk for a minute.”

Sniffling, Shadrach glanced to the fence with eyes that itched terribly. Licking his lips, he tasted tears and snot. Joe had removed the handcuffs, but left him out back for hours. His parting words were: “Uncivilized niggers don’t belong indoors! Sleep outside tonight like the animal that you are!”

Drawing closer, Shadrach asked, “Is that Cora or Clara?” He’d conversed with the twins through the fence on a few prior occasions, their outgoing natures overcoming his own bashfulness.

“Clara. But my sister’s with me, too.”

“I sure am. Hi, Shad.”

“Hi, Cora. Hi, Clara. How’s it goin’?”

“Better than it’s going for you, that’s for sure,” Cora said.

“Be nice,” Clara chastised.

“I am being nice, sister.”

“Not as nice as I am.”

“Way nicer. Always.”

“Shut up.”

“You shut up.”

“Come on, girls, don’t fight,” Shadrach pleaded.

“I’d like to fight that bitch-ass uncle of yours.”

“Clara!”

“Oh, like you weren’t thinkin’ it, too. We saw what he did to you earlier, Shad. We peeked through the fence cracks. It was so horrible, I almost cried.”

Though Shadrach’s first instinct was to deny everything, he swallowed those words down before they could emerge from his throat. Instead, he said, “Uncle Joseph is such a bully now. I think he’s gone crazy.”

“Doesn’t that man read horror all the time? He probably started out crazy.”

“Cora! She doesn’t mean that, Shad.”

“Don’t tell him what I mean. You heard those racist things he was shoutin’. A white devil, that’s what he is. He’ll probably kill Shad soon enough.”

“That’s what I’m afraid of,” Shadrach admitted.

“Well, whatever’s happenin’ with that man, we need to get you away from him,” Clara said.

“But my mom’s in rehab and none of my other relatives want me. Until she gets better, I’m stuck here.”

“Actually,” said Cora, “my sister had an idea about that.”

“Let me tell it, Cora. You’ll go all mush-mouthed again if you try.”

“Will not.”

“Whatever, girl. Shad, I know of a spot where you can hide for a while, where your uncle will never be able to find you.”

“Yeah, where’s that?” Shadrach asked, disbelieving.

“Do you know that place next to the swap meet, where there’re all of those trees and boulders and stuff, and no one’s allowed to build houses, or even explore, because it’s protected land, or somethin’?”

“Uh…I think so.”

“Well, my friend Shareese’s brother and his homies used to get drunk and do drugs there. They left tents and sleeping bags behind. You could live there for a while. Cora and I’ll bring you food and stuff. That way, you’ll stay safe until your mama gets outta rehab.”

“You want me to be homeless?” Shadrach asked.

“At least you’ll be alive,” said Cora.

“It’ll only be for a while,” added Clara. “We’ll spy on your uncle’s house for you, too, and let you know if we see or hear anything about your mama.”

“Huh. Let me think about it.”

Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan RL:n ja generatiivisten vastakkaisverkkojen (GAN) soveltamista AAV:ien adaptiivisen, älykkään havaitsemisen ja luonnehdinnan helpottamiseksi, riippumatta ennalta määritellyistä signaareista tai olemassa olevista harjoituksista. Sotilas- ja siviiliviranomaisten luetteloimat julkisesti saatavilla olevat silminnäkijäraportit tunnistamattomista ilmailmiöistä (UAP) vuosilta 1947-2016 lajiteltiin käsin neljällä kriteerillä: silminnäkijälausuntojen luotettavuus, kohteen kulmakoko, joka on yli 0,15 astetta, riittävä valaistus ja riittävän yksityiskohtaiset tiedot. Tuloksena syntynyt tietokanta käsittää niiden historiallisten raporttien osajoukon, joiden todettiin todennäköisesti edustavan tunnistamattomia ilmakohteita.

Yhdestä sotilastietokannasta ja neljästä siviilitietokannasta kerätystä yli 100 000 raportista 301 raporttia samoilta vuosilta täyttivät nämä kriteerit. Tästä valikoidusta joukosta tutkitaan muotoa, kokoa, kinematiikkaa, sähkömagneettisia vaikutuksia ja äänipäästöjä koskevia ominaisuuksia. Suurimmat ilmoitetut muodot olivat timantti/suorakulmainen ja bumerangi (mediaani 300 jalkaa (91 m)), ja pienimmät olivat palloja (mediaani 20 jalkaa 96 m)). Kolmioiden (mediaani 170 jalkaa (52 m)) raportoitiin jatkuvasti leijuvan, ne eivät tuottaneet sähkömagneettisia vaikutuksia, ja usein havaittiin, että ne eivät kuulostaneet ääntä. Epätavallisen kinemaattisen kantaman ja äänettömyyden yhdistelmä löytyi 16 raportissa, joissa mainittiin erityisesti leijuvat, Mach 1:tä nopeammin liikkuvat ja äänettömät kohteet: kiekko (5), kolmio (8), soikea (1), pallo (1) ja bumerangi (1). UAP-ilmiöt ovat potentiaalinen lentoturvallisuusriski, kansallinen turvallisuusongelma ja yleisön uteliaisuuden lähde. UAP-turvallisuustapahtumista raportoidaan yleensä liian vähän, mikä johtuu havaitsemiseen ja kuvaamiseen liittyvistä haasteista, riittämättömistä raportointimekanismeista ja leimautumisesta. Tämän vuoksi meillä on vain vähän tietoa siitä, miten UAP-tapahtumat vaikuttavat turvalliseen ilmailutoimintaan ja miten ilmailuhenkilöstö reagoi UAP-tapahtumien aikana ja niiden jälkeen.

Kun UAP-raportit lisääntyvät, lentoturvallisuuden perusperiaatteita voidaan käyttää UAP-tapahtumien tarkasteluun ja parannusten tekemiseen turvallisemman ilmailutoiminnan varmistamiseksi. Vuoden 2024 alussa American Institute of Aeronautica and Astronautics (AIAA) UAP Integration & Outreach Commitee (UAPIOC) laati lausunnon ”Työturvallisuus- ja raportointiohjeet lentoturvallisuuden parantamiseksi, leimautumisen vähentämiseksi ja UAP:n tieteellisen ymmärtämisen helpottamiseksi”.

Ohjeistuksessa yksilöitiin kuusi alaa, jotka ansaitsevat erityistä huomiota UAP-tuntemuksen lisäämiseksi: 1) vaarojen määrittäminen, 2) ilmailuryhmän reagointi lennon aikana tehtyihin UAP-raportteihin, 3) havainnointi ja vaaratilanteiden raportointi lentotoiminnan jälkeen, 4) työpaikan leimautuminen ja turvallisuuskulttuuri, 5) miehistön jäsenten työhyvinvointi ja yleinen terveys, 6) kansallisen tieteellisen tiedonkeruun keskittäminen.

UAP-turvatilanteiden tarkastelu Jotta edistetään käytännön ymmärrystä UAP-turvallisuusriskeistä, tarkastelemme tapausesimerkkiä lennon aikana tehdystä UAP-havainnosta ja sovellamme edellä mainittua kehystä yksilöidäksemme tähän tapahtumaan liittyvät inhimillisten tekijöiden onnistumiset ja mahdollisuudet. Tunnistamme konkreettisia esimerkkejä, joissa lentoturvallisuutta tai ryhmän jäsenten hyvinvointia voitaisiin parantaa UAP-tapahtumien aikana ja niiden jälkeen.

Tarkoitus: Tämän työn tarkoituksena on helpottaa sellaisten inhimillisten tekijöiden prosessien tarkastelua, jotka edistävät ilmailuhenkilöstön tehokasta reagointia ja raportointia UAP-tapahtumien aikana. Tavoitteenamme on edistää sotilas- ja siviili-ilmailun turvallisuuskäytäntöjä UAP:n osalta ja edistää UAP:den tieteellistä tutkimusta.

Menetelmät: Analysoimme yhden esimerkkitapauksen UAP-tapahtumasta ilmailutoiminnan aikana. Pyysimme kyseiseen UAP-tapahtumaan osallistunutta henkilöä toimittamaan meille kirjallisen kertomuksen kokemuksestaan, joka perustui seuraaviin seikkoihin: 1) UAP-havainnot ja miehistön jäsenten toimet, jotka tapahtuivat tapahtuman aikana, 2) kokemukset tapahtuman raportoinnista sekä lennon aikana että sen jälkeen, 3) turvallisuuskulttuurin ja leimautumisen tunne tapahtuman aikana ja sen jälkeen ja 4) henkilökohtaisen ja ammatillisen hyvinvoinnin tunne tapahtuman jälkeen. Analysoimme hänen kertomustaan AIAA UAPIOC:n laatimassa lausuntoasiakirjassa esitettyjen kuuden keskeisen näkökohdan osalta. Tavoitteenamme oli tehdä erityiset johtopäätökset 1) sellaisten alojen tunnistamisesta, joilla UAP-ilmoitusten tekemistä haittaa leimautuminen tai huoli UAP-ilmoitusten tekemisen yksilöllisistä seurauksista, 2) mahdollisuuksien tarkastelemisesta, joilla voidaan parantaa tiimin jäsenten välistä viestintää UAP-tapahtumien aikana, ja 3) tiimin jäsenten ilmeisten haasteiden tunnistamisesta UAP-havaintoon tai -tapahtumaan reagoitaessa sekä tapahtumasta raportoimiseen liittyvien haasteiden tunnistamisesta lisäanalyysiä varten.

Lopputuote. Lopputuotteemme ovat kirjallinen tapausanalyysi sekä 10-15 minuutin pituinen esitys, jossa keskitytään UAP-tapahtumaan liittyviin lentoturvallisuusperiaatteisiin. Kussakin näistä tuotteista esittelemme lyhyesti AIAA:n UAPIOC:n kehyksen, sellaisena kuin se on esitetty lausuntoluonnoksessa, ja annamme yleiskatsauksen siitä, miten kertomus tapauksesta soveltuu kehykseemme. Lopuksi aiomme keskustella päätelmistä, joita teemme mahdollisista onnistumisista ja mahdollisuuksista parantaa ilmailuturvallisuutta UAP:den osalta. Esityksessämme käydään avointa keskustelua istunnon aikana.

I need to know if Nico still wears his same outfit as canon with the dark brown aviator jacket and everything, or does he dress fancily and even more edgy since he’s been pretty much raised as royalty since the age of 10 (…?)

Because I don’t know I feel like Proxy of Hades Nico would be more formal in a way, if that makes sense due to his upbringing in the Underworld and all that.

Okay, Nico does still have the jacket, he just... only wears it when not on Royal duties. So, like, hanging out with Toby? Wandering the underworld? Yeah. But working with Hades? Nah.

Otherwise yes, it is fancy clothes.
