Random dialects headcanons I have

Callie and Marie sound more rural due to being from calamari county. It isn’t as noticeable as captain cuttlefish however. And due to them being in the public spotlight, they’ve learned to control the way they sound to make it more understandable for people outside CC. Callie does sometimes switch into a valley girl accent, she did it mainly during the start of her career

Pearl has a more of a “upper class” sociolect. With hints of the central Inkadia accent

Out of all dome octolings who migrated to inkopolis after octo expansion. Paul doesn’t have as thick of an accent compared to the rest due to him being younger.

The dome octolings did know a few more modern inkling words due to manga smuggling

Inkadia inklish is more akin to Tokyo Japanese while Splatlandian Inklish is more like Kagoshima Japanese

My most recent concepts for Mrs and Mr Wakame, Warabi's parents!

Mama comes from a wealthy family in another part far away from the Capital of inkadia where octolings weren't segregated, once she had a dream to become and actress she solo traveled to Haikara to sign in on her first big major role and protagonist

Papa was created by octarian military but something went wrong, he was more jolly and had a hard time following instructions, however his charisma make him able to scape to the surface where someone saw his potential as actor.

The fall in love instantly and they were never separated again, despite some interal fighting Papa got accepted into the Wakames. After a few years a tiny baby girl octo was born.

There are a few files about entering on a special music program but beyond that there's not much information, however it seems that the kid cut off all total contact with them at the age of 25

it comes from a whole bunch of mangled pseudoscience and straight-up misinformation that gained a lot of traction when octarians began emigrating from the north inkadian underground like 8-ish years ago? to get the general gist of it:

seaweed in general is popular in north inkadia, and octarians immigrating to cities with large inkling populations throughout the rest of inkadia causes major growth for the seaweed industry in mainstream markets. even with this huge boost in popularity you still get a vocal minority of people being like "ew that's an icky gross foreign food i didn't grow up with ):"

people publicly take note that an overwhelming majority of octoling troopers in the octarian army are women, and that elite octoling soldiers like to wear seaweed in their hair

a guest speaker on a popular fitness podcast says he believes the reason all the octoling soldiers are women is because kelp feminizes the body, without providing any sort of research or studies backing his claim and barely any pushback from the host and other guests besides a halfhearted "wow that's craaaazy haha," but it just ends up sticking anyway since it's a big podcast with an audience that's afraid of womanly things ruining their sense of machismo

the claim quickly hits fringe conspiracy theorist circles and it devolves into shit that boils down to "the octarian government is using kelp to brainwash our boys to turn them girls," and since these circles conflate trans women with gay men and gayness in men with femininity "kelp makes you gay" is a shorthand they frequently fall back on

and of course, scientific studies have proven multiple times over that having even a large amount of kelp and other seaweeds in your diet doesn't do anything to your endocrine system, especially anything that's on par with actual hormone replacement therapy

people saying kelp makes you gay in earnest has been on the decline over the past few years, thankfully. it's difficult to take the big conspiracy theorists that demonize seaweed seriously with how often it gets pointed out that kelp extracts are a major ingredient in the overpriced supplements they shill out since surprise! kelp's got a whole lot of protein and vitamins in it

Aqua - Transformers/HoSt/HiSw/Helltaker >Aqua (TF:Prime) is just some homeless dude that ended up discovering the Cybertronians. Depending on the affiliation depends on how secretive they are kept and different dynamics. However on the Autobot’s side they live on the base as they have nowhere else to be. She can be seen as acting as a voice of reason to the kids, and generally tries their hardest to help when possible. >Aqua (TF: Animated/R.I.D/G1) is just a chill guy minding their business. Turns out randomly discovering alien robots can be pretty fun if not possibly stressful as Hell. >Aqua (TF: Bayverse) has firmly been an Autobot supporter since the beginning and revels in getting to know these cool bots. His moral compass is more grey and just wants to pick fights with the government at any opportunity. >Aqua(HoSt/HiSw) takes place in those AUs from the old DeviantArt days where the trolls come to Earth are just vibing and adjusting to society. >Aqua (Helltaker) is a thrill seeker that likes to ghost hunt and just so happens to come across a portal to Hell. Upon falling in he meets The Helltaker and they team up for a demon girl ‘harem’. Let’s be real, it becomes a found family dynamic too quickly.

Azura - Kekkai Sensen >A bartender who works rather close to the agency and keeps an ear and eyes out for the agency for any info or leads. Their blood technique allows them to create crystalline structures, sharpened weapons, and if an enemy is distracted can even crystallize them for a short term. He’s an endless source of advice and loves to help those that come through the bar.

Blaze - Pokémon >Blaze is a simple trainer who constantly is getting put in situations by forces outside his control. He has a passion for battles and a fondness for competitions when the occasion arises. He’ll never miss a chance for a battle as he loves to show off his Pokémon's skills in battle.

Dusk - Friday Night Funkin' >Dusk is a close friend of GF(Roxanne) who eventually was adopted by the Dearest family as their odd-ball son. He can frequently be found tagging along with GF and BF when they aren’t on dates. Shockingly he can’t really sing, but instead claims to tag along for other’s battles as “Morale Support”. Has a 9 - 5, but his passion lies in art which they do pursue in their spare time. All the money he makes is easily more spent on his friends than himself, but that’s fine when your adoptive parents give you a monthly allowance that is basically your rent.

Myst - Splatoon >A friendly veteran squid by the name of Myst with the catch-all pronouns of He/They/She. From a nondescript town somewhere south of Inkopolis, but has seen most of Inkadia in his travels. Works at a local venue in Splatsville where they meet the latest musical talents. Nova - Madness Combat >Nova awoke with very little memories of his life prior to the Madness over taking Nevada, but still he gets along in life as best he can. At first they spent many days just trying to get by until being come across by Sanford and Deimos. Once the two men decided he wasn’t a threat, and seemed more than competent to help, they let him tag along.

Rill - Pikmin >Rill works at the same company as Olimar and Louie, focusing more in the actual office/factory area. However, he also gets some jobs to transport from time to time. Especially with larger orders. Upon a trip to PNF-404 to assist Olimar and Louie on an odd job for more treasures and surveying. Rill enjoys the planet so much. Despite being mostly lonely when on the planet, they take great comfort with the Pikmin nearby.

Swift - No Straight Roads >Your average NSR worker busting their ass to make ends meet while pursuing their passion in the spare time they have. No one is quite sure what they are, and they seemingly refuse to elaborate upon being asked because they always seemingly get distracted. While they don’t agree with all of NSR’s protocols or general vibes, he can’t argue with the pay.

Tari due to certain events in the What-If Fuzz au will be a temporary antagonist (I'll post her design later) sweet girl is traumatized and not in the the right head space because of demonic goop influence and Puzzles being a dick and is just doing random shit cause of grief so everything she does isn't her fault

Tari split off from the group a year after Meggy passed and hasn't been seen since much to everyone's worry and has been in some... Interesting situations

So no she wasn't with the Glitchy Gang when they discovered Meggy was alive but when she inevitably does find out that reunion is going to be.... Something (in a bad way mind you)

She somehow still tries to prevent people from getting hurt on her quest to bring back meggy despite it all and still loves ducks

Wanting to do anything to bring Meggy back no matter what but in different ways and go on a self destructive journey to do just that because of the well spring of guilt they both have (Tari pulling a bring back from the dead kind of shtick through any means necessary and Desti wanting to kill Sephiroth) however one has already been stopped on said path (Desti defeating Sephiroth with the help of Agent 8 and Agent 4 and being essentially dragged back to Inkadia because BOY does she need help) but the other is still going deeper into it which will VERY much cause consequences and problems (Tari teaming up with Puzzles which will ONLY end so well)

Splatoon x Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Soundtrack PT 1.

THE SONG FICS BEGIN (I'm gonna try to make it non-cringe and not have them sing every line and not take every line from the song... I promise lyric changes aren't to be cringe :3)

Trace arrived to Inkopolis again after defeating Octavio with fresh eyes. The Great Zapfish is back and despite the grueling few months or so she was challenging the DJ, she was back to the surface with a smile.

She had just bought some near gear as her hero gear was on job only and as she finished putting on her jacket she headed out of her apartment.

"I solved my problems and I see the light! We gotta loving thing we got to feed it right," She was singing her her trusty hero shot, sadly she had to use the replica in ink battles but she still loved it so. "There ain't no danger we can go too far! We start believing now we can be who we are. Grease is the word!"

Trace raced off to the lobby wearing a hand me down jacket from Marie. The idol's name was embroidered on the back.

"Is that Tiny Trace?" A inkling in the plaza muttered

"In Marie's jacket? Susan's going to flip! I've got to go tell her!" Another muttered before getting up

Around Trace in the lobby of cephalokids they were hyping eachother up.

"Grease is the word! It's the word that you heard! It's got groove it's got meaning!" Chanted the lobby with Trace joining in with equal enthusiasm. "Grease is the time! It's the place! It's the motion! Grease is the way we are feeling!"

Addison was packing up with Marina. After hearing the Calamari inkantation they were freed... but not everyone was. And the army wasn't fond of defectors. Addison looked at the older octoling for some guidance.

"We take the pressure and we throw it away! Conventionality belongs to yesterday," Marina put her hand on Addi's shoulder with a smile.

"Yesterday?" Addi repeated confused

"There is a chance that we can make it so far. We start believing now... that we can be who we are..." Marina grabbed her bag and Addi followed suit before sneaking out.

They started their way to Mount Nantai, Addi looking back on Octo Canyon quitely remarking to herself, "Grease is the word..."

Callie and Marie came back to Inkopolis under alot of paparazzi. They had just helped defeat DJ Octavio and had helped Cuttlefish recover. Lights were flashing all over their eyes. Marie leaned into Callie and muttered to her cousin, "I forgot.. I hate the spotlight; let's hurry up." Marie covered her eyes with her hand squinting.

Callie smiled at Marie and went to assure her, "It's fine! Let's just go grab some burgers!" The cousins tried to push their way through the crowd but people were following super close, "Grease is the word! It's the word! That you heard! It's got groove. It's got meaning!" The crowd said in unison. "Hey Callie! Where you going so fast? I just have a few questions-" One reporter was cut off my the cousins running into their apartment and slamming the door closed. "This is a life of illusion..." Marie huffed as Callie went into the kitchen to search for food, "wrapped up in trouble... laced with confusion." Marie said softly. She walked over to the window as the paparazzi was clearing, "What are we doing here?"

She ran out grinning, jumping off her steps as she ran towards the train station at the end of town. "Happy last day of summer dipsticks!" she said to her friends while she was running. "Bye Zera!" Grease is the time! It's the place! It's the motion! Grease is the way we are feeling!

"Woah~!" Zera jumped down the steps of the train station, her sneakers contrasting with her school uniform. Grease is the way we are feeling. Grease is the word, is the word that you heard! "The way we're feeling~" She ran towards the train as it was nearing time to depart. Making it on just as the doors closed behind her. She sat down and grabbed a photo of her younger self and her older sister smiling after Zera's spelling bee.

Their bio/backstory is below the under cut.

Team Naika(not officially named that yet) is a group of friends that usually cosplay and act as characters from hit video game CoroCoro Cup(Coroika basically) in turf battles for fun. The team consists of Donnie, Agatha, Makoa, and Rookie. One day, the young team dressed as the ever popular S4 for a battle at Arowana Mall, ever ready to have a good time. (Donnie as Skull, Agatha as Mask, Makoa as Aloha, and Rookie as Army).

The unfortunate thing was they were paired with, at the time, the top of the top S+ Rank team, Team Vigor(18-20). A team that was very competitive and seemed to despise fun and anyone that wasn’t them. So to be paired with a team that was just there to cosplay and “not take the fight seriously” pissed them off. Right then and there Team Vigor decided to show Team Naika a real and unforgettable fight. Team Naika, not expecting an onslaught of ink, bombs and sprinklers, were experiencing stress beyond belief and unfortunately repair.

What was discovered during this fight is that Special weapons paired with high levels of stress can cause ink creatures to permanently be in the “Special State” and constantly regenerate ink to trigger special weapons. It was later found out that when this is triggered, the limiter on the weapon fuses the Special weapon’s “special ink” to the users ink sac, permanently attaching the current special weapon to the user. (This condition would later be called Special Shock.) Team Naika was in such a state of pain and exhaustion due to ink regeneration and still being attacked by Team Vigor, three of the four teammates splatted and were unable to respawn. The unslpatted teammate, Rookie, remained unwillingly because of her Special Weapon, the Kraken. Due to the functionality of the Kraken, it kept constantly healing Rookie and kept her in a state of uncomfortable numbness. At least until the ambulance and paramedics came.

That 4 v 4 at Arowana Mall was a tragedy that swept Greater Inkadia for weeks and still has residents shook. Team Vigor was banned from playing Battles or Rank, for how long is still a topic that is talked about. Some say it’s for life and some say a decade. No one knows. Team Naika were all hospitalized and said never to be able to function normally ever again until Sheldon, owner of Ammo Knights, invented the four wearable limiters.

This limiter would lessen the user's ink supply, thus stopping the “special state” effects. But this solution did not come without cons. While wearing the limiter, the weapon’s limiter should be popped off. Which means no Special Weapons(obviously), no Sub Weapons, no regenerating ink naturally, no walking on grates unless you want to fall through, and no transforming into a squid which means no super jumping or swimming in ink. Even though the young team had this new cure, the injuries inflicted on them from Team Vigor landed them at least 2-3 weeks in the hospital’s care. Except for Rookie. Despite the onslaught of attacks and blows he faced, he came out of it without a scratch. More than likely due to the Kraken’s “special ink” in him.

Although not physically scared, she wasn’t feeling the best emotionally or mentally. With her friends still in the hospital she stopped going out and fighting in turf battles and only went out during early mornings and late nights. One of these mornings, he stepped and fell through an open sewer grate trying to get to one of Inkopolis Plaza’s many vending machines. This sewer brought him to a hidden valley. Upon getting up she was met with Cap’n Cuttlefish being attacked by some Octotroopers. Without thinking, Rookie grabbed the nearest weapon, the Hero Shot, and saved the old squid. Cap’n Cuttlefish thanks him, recruits him into the New Squidbeak Splatoon, and then Hero Mode happens.

"why is ur neo 3 like that"

ok so this post is basically gonna be an explanation of what the title says, why my neo 3 is like that/her lore. (this is gonna be a REALLY long post sorry)

the real reason: i couldn't decide between making her an inkling or making her an octoling, and i didn't want to have more than one neo 3, so i just made both an octoling and inkling as one character. i'll refer to her as an inktoling for convenience but unlike some inktoling ocs people have, she was not born like that because she had inkling an octoling parents. no hate 2 any1 who has that as their reason, i just dont think it rlly makes sense lol. instead:

the lore reasons: she was actually some weird fucked up lab experiment done by a scientist at kamabo co. for the time being, i am using the assumptions that there were several scientists at kamabo co all doing weird shit, all of them possibly sanitized, and i don't think commander tartar was the sole 'scientist', just the leader. anyway, as for why a scientist would try to create an inktoling, uhhhhhh idk. to see if it would be possible for one to survive, to see how different an inktoling would function as compared to a non-hybrid, for shits and giggles, idk. unless i come up with something that makes more sense than this, a scientist basically somehow managed to combine an inkling and an octoling into one organism, kinda like a chimera i guess but for whatever reason she was mostly split down the middle in a zig-zaggy line, and then said scientist raised her in a lab till she was around 10-12ish? hold on lemme go on a side tangent.

if the splatoon games all follow the progression of time as the current day does, and we assume all the protagonists (possibly excluding 8) are 14 when they become agents, and octo expansion came out in 2018, that means four years passed between splatoon 3 and oe. which means that yeah, neo 3 would be around the age of 10.

side tangent over. neo 3 is 10ish when the defeat of commander tartar causes chaos and a power outage (i made that up for my own convenience) in all kamabo co facilities, including where she lives. she takes this as an opportunity to run away since she resents the scientist(s?) who are currently distracted. on the map of inkadia and the splatlands, the deepsea metro appears to be close to a "salmonid swim zone" which im gonna interpret as a place where salmonids live. this is where she finds lil buddy. somehow she ends up on a bus to splatsville and she spends most of her time in the desert trying to find things she can sell so she can afford to stay in the city. by this point she's 14. "what happened in those four years after she escaped" man i dont knowww . living with the salmonids or something. living in the desert. idk.

most of the time she wears the cloak+glasses seen on the character during character creation/customization (or generally any face/head-concealing gear) to hide the fact that she's an inktoling since she's scared of what other people might think. she's friends with the splat 3 promo kids (like veronika and hirooo and all the other ones) but is particularly close with stephanie (the inkling girl with long hair and the party hard hat), c4l4m4r, and anemoneno1. her and stephanie both sorta have crushes on eachother but they never rlly confess until some time after grandfest (so like, two years after neo 3 comes to splatsville). also lil buddy is her bff forever (not in like. a pet way. they're actually friends)

The drawing is very simple and there's nothing else because.. well, she's lonely, there's nothing. She's nothing. She wants to be forgotten, so the simple shapes kinda symbolize that she's being forgotten? I'm bad at explaining but.. yeah.

" Voices from Orpheus' mountain " . The second version was a limited edition bonus poster gift, but it looks like it was just Momchil and Zornitsa who got it.

" Inkadia kopanitsa "

Since "???" drew them when the band wasn't known to the public, the inklings just passed by them and didn't care or sprayed graffiti over them. The other band members took some posters for themselves so it was just them or / and their relatives and friends who knew about their music and concerts.

The only reason why the band got known to the public is because "???" played a bit of " Salmonid Rachenitsa " in the lobby and the other inklings got interested.

The young inklings started making weird theories about 7/8 Craze's music because they felt like as if the music was "bewitching" them and they had increased heartbeat and started sweating a lot when they heard it play on the radio. When Salmonid Rachenitsa started playing, the inklings felt like as if they were losing their minds due to the very fast 7/8 sound. Some inklings think 7/8 Craze isn't formed by inklings and fish, but by Salmonids because the Salmonids also play in 7/8 9/8 11/8 etc and they're just pretending to be inklings. Nobody has seen any of the members in person either. ω-3 Will forever be sad by the fact that they will never collab with 7/8 Craze, but at least they get to see "???" once a month and they play together.

Relationship with other bands: Unknown, but they definitely write something about 7/8 Craze online. I think Finn from Bottom Feeders would be friends with Stamen and Galya.
