Re about the FEH vs Cipher rant from the last day...

Back when Cipher was a thing, we could have gotten this fanart.

Sure it's only fanart and all, but this is, imo, better at "making the characters live between the games" than releasing a very sad'n'lonely about a goddess whose only wish is to bang you.

Silly and fun things were supposed to be the theme of seasonal banners, imagine if we got some sort of "trying to emulate heroes they look up to" lizard banner, with Y!Tiki using a sword, Myrrh trying to use a lance, Kana using a cardboard Yato, and, idk, Fa trying to use Igrene's bow (their sprites being something like Amelia's trainee sprites where she tumbles with her lance or something weird, like Billy's animations, maybe instead of stabbing with the lance, Myrrh throws it and it falls, dealing damage, on the opponent, something like that) -

Sure we would have the obnoxious fans rant about "characters getting alts" again, with extra salt from the A!Tiki stans - but just think of the fun and cute interactions in a multiverse...

Instead, we have "orientalism : the festival" banners, "bunnies for those who are horny!" banners, the "bridal harem!" banner and a bunch of non interesting stuff.

Tea-time last year might have been something nice - 1st gen Jugdral parents meeting their children and trying to make up for, well, not being there in the second gen - but it had to be Fodlan'd (with Mercedes suddenly forgetting she left Adrestia) because gods forbid we have no Fodlan unit on a banner or FEH devs miss on an occasion to remind the world Lysithea loves sweets.

(I wouldn't have meant a Ferdie backpack to, idk, Siggy or something, where he could say that those ceremonies are common in Fodlan, and an occasion to spend time with people you care about instead of saying those weird "let's have tea breaks while we're invading people because taking a break is more important than their lives i guess" nonsensical lines, that would, honestly, make any Jugdral character from this banner reduce him to 1 HP).

Anyways,

While Cipher had its share of lewd designs - it also showed more care and love the for characters of the franchise than FEH - or maybe the artists had more leeway in FE Cipher than in FEH, I mean, Daisuke Izuka draws awesome units in FEH, but on his X channel, he drew... Riev T-Posing, or his anniversary arts always feature badasses (Hardin vs Hardin, this year's league of super villains, Sharena's parents being in luf and dancing while smacking bandits right and left, etc etc).

Given what we get in anniversary artworks...

I'd more interested in having those ideas than another "but she is forced to do evil things by an evyl figure and is very sad and very lonely and just needs your luf" shit of a story.

I swear if it weren't for the self-insert, dating sim nonsense, this franchise would have died with Awakening. Good grief. Sometimes I wish it died with Tellius on that day. But, I wouldn't have gotten Marianne, Dwyer and Lucina though :( Sigh

You pointed it out, even if there are a lot of things we don't really like about the post Awakening games (FE13 included) there are still things we do like!

And if FE really died after Tellius/the Archanea remakes, then we wouldn't have them!

Not to say other games had "nothing" problematic, I rambled enough about FE Tellius and its message regarding "coexistence between Laguz and Beorcs".

While I was a bit worried about adding a "futuristic civilisation" in the FE series, the Nabatean and Agarthan debacle and subsequent war is really something fresh and something I find interesting. Relics being a subversion from Jugdral's HW? Good. Nabateans post-Zanado hiding for fear of being terminated but still trying to help people, as best as they can, because they love Fodlan and its people? Nice, 10/10. Tellius AU where Lehran had a renewed faith in Humanity after Serenes, only to lose it little by little, thinks only the Goddess can lead Tellius and its people to prosperity but doesn't think terminating the world is the best solution, so he tries to find roundabout ways to reinstall Ashunera? Only for Sanaki to barge in with her imperial army asking him to die because his ears are pointy and he is not "human"?

Fodlan could have been great. Ideas are here and there.

It's just that IS decided to... shat a, at best, milquetoast story about saving the waifu of your choice, at worst, an offensive story with "artificial" stakes and a lot of player pandering to create parasocial relationships that will make player spend money on FEH.

Now I know War of Heroes prequel/DLC will never be released, because it can't make Supreme Leader/Puppet look completely off the base regarding "reforms" and the state of the world, even if they depict her glorious ancestor as the chadest chad who ever chaded out in the universe, or who tried to apply those very same reforms she "apparently" wants to install, and how, it failed 1100 years later.

There's no "maybe they both believed in what they did and had valid points" to have with a guy who genocided a race, of the people who asked him to do so - even if I legit thought no one would ever play colonial propaganda from the 1930s straight

But hey, that's why we have fanfictions, and if anything, Fodlan is ripe with fanfic material - for the people who often browed r/atheism or think feudalism is all about people having swords, horses and a nobility title - but also for people who generally like stories about acceptance and mutual understanding despite differences, like the shape of their ears or technological advancement.

Y'know, what could have been if that game had better writing lol
