Now, those were the magic words! What better way to get to know one another than by pushing each other's limits! Yet it would be a lie that Sora's natural abundant warmth didn't catch Pit off guard. Sora's bright and expressive eyes seemed to emanate a comforting warmth, and the casual way he spoke to a servant of the Gods, a being with immense power and influence, was unexpected and welcoming. Even if the little blue bird was caught between two lion-hearted scoundrels with smiles that made the devils swoon, Pit had no words for Sora's initial response but a simple head nod of acknowledgment and a hum of acceptance.

Aqua? Choosing to be friends with him? Sometimes, allowing others to remain in their blissful ignorance is wiser. It nearly caused the Captain to burst into laughter. Almost, but not entirely. Instead, Palutena's Captain adds to Sora's comment towards Aqua,

"Don't worry Sora-icus. Aqua is gonna make a wonderful snack afterward, right Aqua? You wouldn't want your friends starving after such rigorous training since you're the Master n' all."

He only fueled the fire to this hot spot Aqua was put in, and just before he could withdraw himself, Sora kept his attention by leaning in and whispering the valid reason for this alliance. It was a reason that resonated with the Captain, a motivation within his heart. It was enough to have Palutena's Captain chuckle filled with glee and deviousness as he whispered back just as quick, "You should see her when she cu-"

AND ONWARD! Whistle while you work, they say!

He followed Sora's lead a few paces before Aqua, his sandals leaving faint imprints of sparkling light as he moved. Like any good Captain and just by nature, Pit kept an eagle eye, observing Sora's every move. Sora did not disappoint. Even when Aqua caught up with Pit, the Captain remained silent, his eyes gleaming with admiration and curiosity as he studied Sora's every gesture. His slight smile hinted at the depth of his thoughts and his anticipation for what was to come.

So far, Sora had displayed astute magic control, effortlessly weaving ice magic with finesse and precision. Pit couldn't help but wonder if Sora's magic impacted his fighting style, much like Aqua's did when she unleashed the formidable SpellWeaver. The way Sora defied the means of gravity indicated his kinetic control, sturdy body but light enough to move faster than regular humans. What intrigued Pit even more was the subtle transformation of Sora's clothes, the colors shifting and blending seamlessly as if they were an extension of his magic.

He was already strategizing with limited information, but one thing was sure: like Aqua, they were both more than they seemed. There was no room for overconfidence. Humans... They were so interesting. He loved it. Pit playfully returns the salute.

"Versatility is essential if you're gonna be the guy in the middle ground. You'll never know what will be asked of you during battle, especially when protecting your friends, right?"

Pit glanced over his shoulder, meeting Aqua's gaze. He gave her a playful wink before continuing forward. With a casual flick of his hand, holy light took the form of his blessed weapon from Palutena herself: the Sacred Bow. Its ethereal power hummed as Pit casually split his bow sword in half and then rested the back side of the blades against his shoulders as he walked.

"He's a good kid, I'll give him that. Ya know, Aqua-icus, you got good people by your side. I hope you don't take them for granted."

It's a humble, outspoken thought only for Aqua's ears, yet he doesn't turn to look at her. It's just something he ought to say from personal experience.

"Oh y'know what they say, Masters in our ranks gotta work the spotlight a bit. Just means I was that much more of a surprise!"

Stepping forth, he'd face this Captain before allowing his gloved hand to reciprocate the gesture. The pleasantries felt far away amidst the grip of their hands, and the natural mirth that snapped together with a pleasant wavelength. From Sora's, the whole measure of authority would merely feel absent. Settled in his position would be similar to meeting a good friend upon a winter's day.

In fact the very idea should feel unnatural for someone so new. "But I gotta say, s'good to meet you in kind. Just like any of us, Aqua knows how to pick 'em when it comes to new friends. So why don't we make the fun part for us the 'road work' in kind for that?

Though! Reason calls, and she's currently a shimmering, firm and mildly nerdy case of velvet blue.

"---Ah?" And just when another stroke of genius tapped into mind too! It leads to Sora briefly deflating, casting a knowing, cocksure grin towards the rule abiding Master. "Not even a good snack beforehand? Well! Guess working up one makes 'em tastier on top of it all." He acquiesces hardly a second after.

That said, he couldn't resist leaning over to Pit, letting one more secret of camaraderie be shared between the guys.

"Isn't it cute as hell when she gets all embarrassed like that?"

As quick as the words began, it came to an end as he disengaged entirely from their new companion. "C'mon, I'll lead the way there!"

Light would flourish momentarily in a burst of radiance as Sora couldn't mere walk to the hall in question. A frosty, refreshing chill stirs within the air as ice skates formchange was utilized, allowing him to glide down the hall seamlessly. The natural move for him was to smoothly transition the walls, offering them a mock salute as they'd find themselves up above.

"Sides, this can help us get a solid idea of our teamwork too! While she holds the place as resident Spellmaster, I guess you can coin me more in the middle ground. There's so much in terms of direction, heheh, it be hard to pick sometimes!"

Do you ever just lay awake at night, turning over in your head the stark difference in delivery between Hewson's Van saying--steadily, unshakably--"it's just something that's happening to you...happening to us" and Cypress' Taissa saying--imploringly, whiningly--"this was not just my dream, this was our dream"?

Do you ever just turn it over and over, how often Tai tried to scare Van away, and how it only made Van set her feet more firmly? How Taissa's first love was this person who saw a problem fall into Taissa's lap, a problem that was quite literally trapped inside Taissa's body, and decided unflinchingly: No, that's an us problem now? How she refused point-blank to walk away even with blood in her mouth, how she flatly informed Tai "I'm never gonna be scared of you", and promptly turned a moment of pain into a declaration of love? And how this would etch itself into Taissa for the rest of her life? How she'd take these things that worked with Van--with the person Van was, with the bond they shared--and try so hard to run through an identical script with Simone?

Except Simone is her own person. A completely different kind of person. A person who hasn't been offered any of the context, any of the realities going on inside Taissa. So: naturally she doesn't respond the way Van did at eighteen--and will go on to do all over again in her forties. Naturally, she hears our dream as the excuse it is, not as a plea for connection. Naturally, she is scared away when Taissa pushes, and shouts, and begs. Because there isn't blood in her mouth, not yet, but there will be. And they have a son to worry about. And she isn't eighteen and a special kind of immortal, a special kind of romanticized. She's a grown woman with responsibilities, with priorities, with an understanding that you can't fix someone just because you love them. And Tai can't just perform a revival of the play she and Van had memorized twenty-five years later with a whole new performer in the works, and expect it to shake out the same.

Of course it doesn't work. But look at Taissa trying it. Look at Taissa trying to reframe her first love through a new lens. Trying to recast it. Trying to play it through again. Van taught her love was sticking out the blood, shaking off the pain, making a you problem into an us problem. Does it ever just eat at you, how tragic it is, watching Taissa try to shape her marriage around a woman who isn't even wearing a ring?

One of my favorite differences in the DBZ manga that makes Vegebul make More Sense To Me, is that because Vegeta never left Earth, he was living at Capsule Corp for over two years before Bulma got pregnant (assuming Trunks is like 3-6mos old when we see him as a baby), but she said she 'wouldn't live with that jerk' afterward, which implies (to me) that he'd been a chill enough housemate up until the pregnancy, which tracks with his generally private and professional behavior as a Lord in the Freeza Force (in the manga).

I like to think it became a compounding factor in learning that he was slated to be killed in a year, and led to him being uncharacteristically overzealous and performative (and so opposed to Trunks getting close to him) in the android saga as opposed to how strategic and cautious he was with serious threats in the Freeza saga.

I am also always thinking about how Something Happened between him losing to Cell and re-entering the time chamber in the manga, because he was back living at Capsule Corp and staying near Trunks and Bulma when the Cell Games were announced.

The boys asked me, “Can you stay with us? And what you’ve talked about, building up the voice.. can we do that?” So I did, I went on the X Factor tour with them - it was five weeks. And I made the five of them a schedule, one hour each. And we then worked every day at the hotels. They’d come in and I’d have time to build up their voices. Because they were so young - the voice is not at all fully developed - so you needed to be careful. And after that I was with them from the beginning to the end. I actually only finished this year, with Louis. He was the last of my boys. I then helped them in their solo careers, to get them ready, get their bands ready, and be there with them in the beginning. So that’s Louis.. he got set back due to Corona and the death of his mother, tragic circumstances. This year I finished [the voice work] with him, as the last one. So it's all great, they're all self-reliant now, and.. what is it you say, touch wood, that none of them have lost their voices. Once you build it built up, you can't really lose it. You may get tired, but you can't lose it. At least now they know how… or they can call me. But they’ve got this.

the twist of fate being that spain winning the world cup was, perhaps, exactly what was necessary to happen in order to clean up the rfef, because….

I've reached season 5 on my CSI rewatch and I'm a few episodes past "Swap Meet", where a woman is murdered after attending a swing party with other couples from the neighbourhood. Near the end of the episode there's a moment that made me jump from my seat:

Erin Brady: Everybody fantasizes about other people. (She glances at Grissom.)

(The door opens. Paul Brady walks out of the hallway. Erin Brady walks out into the hallway. Sara is sitting in the hallway chair watching them. She watches as they meet and kiss.)

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two culps. He hands her a cup of tea.)

Right after Erin ends her sentence with 'girl at the office', the first time Sara and Grissom meet again, he brings her tea. This might be an innocent interaction but to me it seemed like a nod to this relationship they have where both are into each other, know about the other's feelings, but can't/won't do anything about it (although Sara has kind of given Grissom an ultimatum). I don't know if it was intentional - I'm guessing it is, because I picked it up immediately. I might or might not have squealed in delight.

i do think, aside from mercury bias, if bg had been in all season she would have been all wnba, first or at least second. i think people undervalue her because of the rebounding but she is 1000% the worst officiated player in the league, on both sides of the court. so the fact that she's been able to have the performance that she had is incredible, and that she didn't get the acknowledgment really just underscores how much people take what she does for granted.

She didn't have as big a reaction to eating them as her brother did; while she only made a little face upon trying them before pushing the little bowl of berries away, Lon had made quite a show of his disdain for the flavor, much to his parents' amusement, with Randall chuckling as he dug into his crawfish boil, "I really thought they'd take to 'em as quickly as I did, but no dice-more for me then, I suppose!"

"What about you, Dorian?" Josephine asked curiously, as she took another sip of Guinness, which she quite liked. "Do you have a favorite fruit?"

"I admit, when it comes to sweets, I tend to reach for a good piece of chocolate, but cards on the table, I quite like citrus, especially lemon. Neither Lon nor Erika had any arguments about this, continuing to enjoy their meal and drinks without a second thought, with the topic eventually shifting to the twins' birthday, which got the pair all sorts of excited-though they did both sigh, "Awww..." when their father gently reminded them not to get nosy about learning any of the details for the party-they didn't want to spoil any of the surprises, now did they?
