if you have a psychiatric service dog, please read!!
hello lovely folks of tumblr!
my parents and i are currently in the research process of getting me a psychiatric service dog, trained to help me with panic attacks and/or self harm prevention.
we can’t seem to find very reliable resources for locations or programs to train a puppy that has basic obedience training and needs to learn things like putting its weight against me when i have a panic attack or seeking help when i shut it out to s/h.
if those on here with psychiatric service dogs, particularly those for the issues i described, would you help me out by sharing how/where you trained your dog?
literally anything helps. where you got your puppy (we’re currently looking at sandpoint we’re located a few hours from seattle, so anything in northwest washington works.
if you don’t have a service animal please still reblog so more folks can see this!!!
thank you so much <333

If you ever see a dog in public, DO NOT BE ACTING A FOOL AROUND THEM, especially if they're service animals. They are WORKING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

Guys. You know it's okay for multiple things to share an abbreviation. Right? Or to have the same acronym. Nobody is "stealing" anything. There are only so many words and letters in the alphabet. It's okay to have overlap and figure out which thing is meant in the moment by context clues. It's okay.

Good news! We're moving!
I created a full fledged site using Wix that I'm officially moving my Emotional Support Animal blog to. Long story short, Tumblr "lost" some of my blog posts and was unable to retrieve them. This was incredibly annoying, especially since I only have personal notes saved and so ended up having to rewrite what was lost. I'm still currently adding everything that was originally on here, but the site is basically ready to go. I've never done something like this before, so have mercy if things are weird or buggy. Any tips or advice on how to use Wix is greatly appreciated!

The blog can be found here
For those of you who are new here: I own an emotional support animal named Aiden! When I originally got my letter of prescription from my doctor, I honestly didn't fully know what having an ESA was all about. I discovered very quickly that there are a LOT of Emotional Support Animal scam websites out there, with very few reliable resources that have all the information you need in one place. So if you're interested in having an ESA, or would like to educate yourself on the subject, please check me out! With the overwhelming amount of fakers and scammers in the US, the reputation of both ESAs and Service Dogs have been put in grave danger. The more well educated people that are out there, the better it will be for everyone who genuinely needs Assistance Animals to thrive.

mina never, ever usually lays thisclose to me for more than a minute or so, let alone sleeps.
especially face to face.
but i've apparently hit a good enough Burnout that i've gone non-verbal, & only want to sleep & smell her fur.
she knows (& hopefully loves) her job.

For those unsure on the difference between service animals and other personal animals, the Washington Post has a good article I’m sharing.

tbh i’d love to hear more about service dogs but i don’t have a particular question in mind. could you start with the basics? what kinds of service dogs are out there and how are emotional support animals different (or if they’re not)? common breeds? i want to know so much but i don’t know where to begin!
So here's an article about what a service dog is in the US (though the airplane thing is out of date). The short version is (for the US):
Service dogs are trained to specifically mitigate one person's disability(ies), with one or more task or work behaviors and are allowed anywhere their handler is (with a few exceptions). There is also no documentation or equipment required to "prove" a service dog is legitimate though business employees can ask two questions to verify it's a legitimate service dog.
Emotional support animals (ESAs) can be any species, require a psychiatric disability, but don't require any training, and aren't given special access except for living situations. So they can't go to the grocery store. Housing (apartments, dorms, etc.) can request documentation of the disability and need for an ESA.
Therapy animals can technically be any species, are trained to help *other* people, and are only given special permissions (like going to a hospital) by each individual location, generally only at certain scheduled times, and only with their handler. Most therapy dog teams are certified through an organization and do their outings through that organization but this varies and there's nothing legally requiring documentation. But they still can't go to, say, a grocery store or restaurant.
The EVEN SHORTER version is:
Service Dog = one person, trained, can only be a dog or miniature horse, & given public access
ESA = any species, no training, no public access (only for housing), requires psychiatric disability
Therapy dog = any species, training, only allowed "public" access when given specific permission ahead of time by the business, helps *others* not handler
I'll get into common breeds, what service dogs can be trained for, and other things in another post because I don't want this to get too long lol.

Went into class this morning thinking it was gonna be another shitty day with finals, and my professor said "Oh, hey, there's gonna be dogs today!"
At the start of the fall semester, there was a day where therapy dogs were on campus and you could go hang out with them for however long they were there. There were 3 then. When I went today, there were 8!!
Absolutely wonderful day when I get to meet new dogs!!

So, these aren’t my lesbians—I’ve been holding out on getting invested in Arcane until such time if they actually confirmed this ship. But now that they have (& I’m def watching now, lol…):
Intimacy coordinator & choreographer here.
The moment before.
Initial contact with these powder light levels of touch.
The use of gaze. Breath.
How they staggered Cait closing the distance. Paused. There’s a thought process with multiple beats. Vi’s reactions. Questions and answers like a conversation.
The decision itself. Powdery touch deepens to muscle level. How Vi receives it. The second kiss. Vi kissing her back.
Slowly opening distance just enough for eye contact. Cait withdrawing her hands to brush (and once again cradle) Vi’s face.
Of course, the glove drop. (What a fantastic integration of character design and genre storytelling.)
When Vi closes the distance again, it’s quick, with an almost immediate deepening of their touch— and, my personal favorite:
The double midline cross. (When a character’s hands cross the imaginary line down the middle of another character’s back.)
Would love to know how this choreo came about… Storyboarding? Directorial notes? The art directors? Do Hailee & Katie perform together in the sound booth? Some combo?
Anyways. In case you were wondering why it felt so awesome. Regardless, my deepest complements to the animators. (And fingers crossed these two patch things up in the 2nd half of the season!)
