Zachary Binx is based on Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus. He is a 25 year old ghost, catacombs security, and uses he/they pronouns. He has the power of shifting and invisibility. Binx is portrayed by Sohan Pague and he is taken.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

There are those in the world who wished they could be immortal, fighting for whatever magic and curses they could find to be a part of this existence forever, no matter the cost. Zachary Binx was not one of those people and yet, immortal was how he ended up. The first time he came face to face with the Sanderson sisters, his entire world was turned upside down. Their sister was taken from them, he couldn't save her, and it was that feeling of failure that sunk its claws into them as he grew claws of his own. For three hundred years, Zachary was trapped inside the body of a black cat, unable to break free, unable to die...immortal against his will. At first, all there was inside of them was failure, was the desire to finally see his sister again but eventually he did realize there was something he could do, keep the town of Salem safe and the Sanderson sisters in their graves. But, of course, that couldn't happen. When Salem had been saved, Binx finally joined Emily in the afterlife, finally feeling fulfilled and laid to rest. Until he wasn't. From whatever beyond he was in, he could see that Salem, the Desai siblings, and everyone involved were trapped in a kind of time loop, the Black Flame Candle lit once more and there was nothing Binx could do. He was pulled from his rest into Evermore with no control over it happening - yet again. But this time, this time, he wasn't contained to the form of a cat. He was a ghost, that was very clear, but he could still take the form of a corporeal person or even a cat. This time he could choose. Even though Binx had been pulled away from his family, from Emily, he was back with Max, Dani and Alison and he could be himself. They were stuck fighting the Sandersons once more but things in this town were different, they weren't restricted to fighting the same fight a second time around.

I told you, I can’t die ||

Being an older brother was not what he had always wanted to be. But it was definitely something he was meant for. Growing up, he was always given the responsibility of looking after his little sister, Emily. While he wanted to go out and have fun with his friends, he always had to let his sister tag along. This was never a problem for them. Thatchery was always happy to have his baby sister with him. But as he grew older it became more about freedom and he was left to feel like he was nothing more than a glorified baby sitter. His parents would always tell him “well you’re her brother” and “she wants to be with you”. Both of which were true but as a teen boy he felt more like a service to them than their actual son. After all, he spent more time parenting Emily than they ever had since she was born. Which was why when she went missing in the middle of the night, he felt responsible.

Thatchery was able to track her down by the sound of the Sanderson sister’s voice. But when he got there it was too late. Emily was drained and they were young and beautiful. Angry and filled with nothing but regret, he attacked them. He knew full well that this wouldn’t bring Emily back but it was enough to make them pay for what they did to her and every other child in Salem. They were too much for him to handle and Thatchery was turned into a black cat. Cursed to return to this cat form once the moon was in the night sky every night. But as time went on he realized that that wasn’t the end of his curse. As he watched his parents and every one around him age and slowly die, he realized that they had also cursed him to age as slowly as he had felt he arrived to save Emily.

Two hundred years and still searching for a cure or something that could at the very least put an end to the Sandersons. But nothing had worked and now he comes to a stand still. Getting his PhD and working as a Vet Tech for as long as he could manage no one to wonder why he never seemed to get any older despite several birthdays passing. By the fifth year, Thatchery would move and find a new city to live in. Though with every city in his realm already having housed him... it was time to move realms completely. Now he finds himself in the middle of a war stricken realm by the name of Portus Cale where he refuses to let anything else happen to the residents.

He feels  incredibly guilty for her death. Throughout the years he has always sort of felt her with him. But that’s crazy talk.

The Sanderson Sisters-->”There aren’t enough children in the world to make thee young and beautiful!”

He loathes their existence and will fight to his eventual death trying to bring them to theirs.

Though they work together, he feels that there is something off with the other man.

It doesn’t matter how long he lives, Thackery will never forget the night Emily was killed. Living with that night, living with the knowledge that he was unable to save her, was the true curse of that Halloween. He carried it with him every day, slinking through the streets of Salem in the black cat form given to him. Bad luck personified - an echo of his ineptitude in protecting his sister.

All he could do now was ensure no one ever woke the Sanderson sisters again. For centuries, he guarded the Black Flame candle that was their tomb from any who might been tempted. When the museum came in and it became more display than threat, looked after by the city, Thackery thought perhaps his worries were over for the moment. He couldn’t believe his eyes when Max Dennison lit the candle, the evil quickly filling the room. He threw himself at the sisters with a screech, allowing the group a chance to escape before fleeing after them.

A tormented night and the sisters were… gone? He does not believe it. Their death in the fire broke the seal on his body, allowing him to move between his human and cat form, but he still walks this earth he should have long departed. As long as their magic remains, so do they… somewhere, somehow.

For now Thackery bides his time, protecting the world from the monsters he that he can alongside Dani. Old habits die hard though and his ears are always listening for any word of the Sandersons.

Thackery is: focused, caring, stubborn, sarcastic, courageous, observant

Dani Dennison: Best friend he never thought he would have. They work alongside each other and live alongside each other, hunting down dangerous creatures.

Max Dennison: The idiot who lit the black flame candle. His opinion is warmer now - but first impressions are strong.

Kevin Monal: He feels protective of the fellow shapeshifter, wanting to protect and guide him in this dangerous world.

Thackery Binks

Please describe the character for us

He’s very forthright in the way he walks and addresses other people, I believe because he’s lived for so many centuries there is a weariness to him. Cursed to be a cat forever, I’m taking he’s like a FAMILIAR, cursed to do the witch’s bidding and can’t stay human on Oct 31st or during a full moon? On Oct 31st Binks is drawn like a magnet to the Sanderson’s home protecing it from prowlers that aren’t virtuous enough for the candle’s ritual. He is borderline cynical and very sarcastic about the world. He wants to breaks his curse but there are no guarantees Thackery can survive if they can reverse it. He is also very resigned to our modern life and technology he struggles to navigate. Unapologetically protective about loved ones. Even in human forn he has catlike traits, such as a special fondness for fish, keeping a clean appearance and a dominant independent persona.

He’d prowled the shadows looming in the gloomy backdrop Hallow Falls. Cursed! Cast away, Thackery witnessed his family sink into a painful madness over losing both their children. They never conceived again, for they were certain the Sanderson sisters had put a curse on the Binks’ name! A pure black cat plagued the town of Hallow Falls, crying that he was Thackery Binks. Of course it was assumed to be a trick of their ears or the wind. Far be it for the treacherous town to be haunted with ghost cats. Year after year, he shrunk in a mildy painful manner to that jet black sly silkiness. No one knew Thackery’s curse ran deeper than feline traits. He was immortal until the curse was broken. When the Sanderson witches spirits were truly gone back to their pit in hell. He’d failed Emily and each year on Halloween it all replayed everywhere as Thackery sauntered to the house where it happened.

“These grounds are hexed I would not tread any further.” He stretched, showing his skinny ebony body in the faded waxing moonlight. The teenagers were positioned in a frozen stance and silent.

“Who said that?” One bravely slurred out looking from side to side, eyes searching the ground for a person, his buddies, pointed to the trees, cocksure the disembodied tone was apart of the branches.

“Please, find somewhere else to disturb the peace, I was settling in for my nap when you lot came around,” Binks held off from hissing, or scaring them off yet, the night was young and guarding the Sanderson home at three am on Halloween could be dull affairs. Not to mention the lecherous behavior they’d been duscussing it was safe to assume they might not be virtuous. Seldom were in the new age. “You are not welcome here, this place is evil and I am fairly certain you do not wish to meet the fate of three very cruel old hags.”

“Up there, dude, it’s a c-cat, it’s talking, look he’s stretching again. It’s bad luck, don’t let him cross your path.”

“Bullshit it was the cat, someone is screwing around with us!” His friend said nudging them on towards the Sanderson home.

“Look it’s staring right at us , watch.”

They stared, intently waiting and Thackery’s tail did all the work, twitching carefully in the night air and his giant almond yellowed eyes gleaming rudely back at the group. The silent staredown didn’t last long, Thackery rose up and hopped down to the cold, autumn leaves. “I do not wish for any issues tonight, there’s nothing here for you and it is too early…”

Binks never got much farther than that, the parties always tripped and hollered over themselves during their escape from a talking cat. No one would believe them.

Thackery had been stuck under the Sanderson house chasing a rat. To this day, Thackery wasn’t sure if the rodent existed. For the candle was lit and he wasn’t able to stop Max in time.

Binx scowled out the window, holding the secret of possibly turning into a literal ghost if he dared to go up against all of the Sanderson sisters. He’d lived a long time and met a lot of people, but selfishly Thackery, didn’t mind being a familiar. “I told you there was nothing to worry about.” He couldn’t bear the disappointment on Dani’s face again as he shot down the idea of reversing his curse to remain either an eternally cursed human or an eternally cursed cat. “The hex is centuries hold, do you not think I looked into saving myself?” He hissed, continuing to plead with Dani to wake up “Their book is bad news, there might be a reverse to it but I do not want it at the cost of you seeing things you don’t want to see.” Dani was the only one allowed to be so close to his heart for she was the echo of Emily to him. Thackery stood up, right about now he was missing the woman he’d met in the city. He couldn’t love anyone with this fate and therefore a luring need to be fussy and agitated grew in Binks. “Haven’t you learned your lesson by now? It’s my fault I am like this, it’s just a punishment, meant to last forever. I am going to to take a trip to town, do not follow me, Dani, this has nothing to do with you anymore.”

And his heart broke when she called out for him as he changed from human to a mere beast. Thackery prowled into the night drawn to the Sanderson’s property.

brief description of the character: Thackery loves his family more than anything. He would do anything for them. He’s loyal and smart. His sister Emily is the most precious thing in the world to him. The two are best friends. When the Sanderson Sisters drank the life out of her and turned him into an immortal cat, it broke his heart. His parents shoo’d him away from their house. His once strong family became broken and he was left alone. He lived alone for 300 years, just waiting for someone stupid to come along and light the black flame candle. Then Max Dennison showed up, and Thackery wasn’t lonely anymore. He had friends - people to protect and call family again. He may be snarky and cynical, but that doesn’t erase the heart of gold living within him. Years of immortality and loneliness will do that to a person. For obvious reasons, he has a hatred of anything supernatural or magical. He saw Halloween progress as a holiday , and hates it. He always believed that the season, especially in Salem, glorified witches. Thackery isn’t afraid to speak his mind and warn others of the dangers of witchcraft. He isn’t afraid to be blunt and honest , even if it may hurt to hear.

what they think of being sent to walton creek: Thackery would be thrilled to return to a human body. It would be weird at first, and take some getting used to. However, he would be extremely cautious. He would assume whatever magic brought them to the town would be cast by a powerful witch. He wouldn’t want anything to do with it, and keep to himself mostly. An avid reader, he’d probably spend a lot of time in the library.

Mattie frowned a little, poor little mice... But she didn’t say anything. After all he was a cat, and cats had to eat too.

Mattie had no idea about the legend of the Sanderson sisters. She hadn’t been in Salem that long and as usual, the mutant tried to avoid the normal humans. Even when attending school she simply did her work and kept to herself, so she had thought nothing of it when she lit the black candle to try and light up the old house she was in.
