Highly self indulgent silly Mouthwashing Superhero AU

Led by the esteemed Captain Cosmos, superhero conglomerate Pony Express's Team Tulpar's latest mission is to guard a top-secret mega-important warehouse in the deep recesses of space against raiders and ne'er-do-wells for one year, until Pony Express's client can install a more permanent solution.

Unfortunately, a mysterious accident destroys their only way home and grievously injures their captain. Team Tuplar finds themselves stranded on a faraway asteroid, with only battered pieces of their ship and their all-important super-forbidden warehouse charge to sustain them.

God is not watching.

Debated briefly keeping Curly as his name because it's technically space related but I think it would be a bit too morbid to use as a space related superhero name in universe

Insists his team calls him Curly even on missions

Legally, spacefaring superhero teams need a healer

Legally, Anya cannot be classified as a healer

Why Batcest is a Thing

I was talking with my friend the other day and while she's not a batcest shipper, she asked me why I was. I said that I don't think I take it to the same extremes some other people do, a few things that aren't a personal favorite of mine would be any of the REALLY younger kids with Bruce or say Dick and Damian. It's mostly the age gap that gets to me.

But she asked why I liked JayTim and I had a time explaining it to her and I wanted to bring it here as a sort of explanation, I suppose for people who might not enjoy batcest ships.

first of all, the name. Batcest is... an interesting name. A lot of arguments you'll come across is that they're not actually related, or there are some fanfics out there for aus where one of them (most commonly Tim or Jason) were never apart of the Batfamily in the first place. Of course, there are some where they are! Because, at the end of the day, in Canon they do share a family. But the implication of it being incest can be a real no no for people, even if it's not. Dick wasn't adopted into the family for quiet some time (I think he was adopted around the same time Tim was but I'm not a 100% sure, not to mention he acted as his ward and then aged out of it), Jason was adopted but after his return to life has regularly denied his part in the family (Look at literally any Red Hood Comic, though I do prefer to look at the New 52 Red Hood and The Outlaws for his feelings towards Bruce and the Wayne's in general), Tim was adopted but was later emancipated (in Red Robin), and Damian has a blood relation to Bruce only. Morally, there can be a problem with it but for mow shippers, since this is fiction, the lack of blood relation means there's no problem. Remember! They're not real people. Adoptive relationships, or pseudo familial ones, they don't see these relations as any reason to not ship them! And in later points, I go into why. And if people really had a problem with this pseudo familiar relationships, take for example Tim and Jason who have never once lives under the same roof nor have any legal connection to each other through Bruce, then on principal alone they should have a problem with Cassandra and Stephanie - Cass is adopted by Bruce, yes, but Bruce has also claimed Stephanie as part of the family and includes her in family talks. Does that not make them family members? No. They're friends or girlfriends, depending on how you want to interpret them.

Secondly, the canon relationships that any of the Bats have with their partners. I could go through all of them and explain the nuance of the relationships but I'll simplify for the sake of the post. In Bruce's sake, whether it be Talia or Selina or for the more fanon ones like Clark and Min Khoa (i think that's how you spell that, I'm not sure though!), there's no denying that in Canon these relationships don't pan out. Talia and Bruce have moral problems, even if she was originally a spy and didn't kill, and Selina and Bruce have an entire history of problems. For Dick, himself and Barbara are much of the same. A sweet beginning until something comes in to ruin it and they break up. Take, for example, the newest Nightwing run (on webtoon and not technically canon, i know). Barbara breaks up with Dick because she feels disconnected from him and like he's still preforming for her, but they have no conversation about this prior to it. With Kori, I'm not as knowledgeable about why they broke up, all I know is that they did and it was ugly. Another example is Tim! Himself and Stephanie didn't work out because she couldn't trust him, due to now knowing his identity, and then she faked her death, causing the distrust between them both. These are only a few examples of how relationships work out for Bats and in my personal opinion I think it's because of a ack of understanding for the characters, their love interests I mean. And in fanon, partners for Batfamily members tend to be washed down - Kon acts as an emotional crutch for Tim, Roy has morals he simply does not stand with anymore in Canon in JayRoy fics, Barbara is an anecdote in DickBarbara fics, and Selina is barely featured in Bruce fics. Not to mention the simple lack of wlw fics in the fandom that aren't background.

Due to this, the shipping of Batfamily members together is only natural. The characters share similar morals or in the case of Tim have such complicated morals that in fandom you can pick and choose what to use. They're fleshed out, have a canon relationship with multiple layers to it, and complete each other in many ways. In comparison to some of the fandom favorite ships like SuperBat or BirdFlash, where we only see a two dimensional aspect of their relationship recently, then the shipping of characters like Jason and Tim or Tim and Dick together is a natural conclusion to reach.

And Finally, History and old characteristics. It was mentioned before in another post that I'll try to hunt down for you guys and link in a repost because it will be WORLDS better than what I could write and have much more research thrown into it than this does, but originally there were a lot of implications under their relationships, specifically Bruce and Dick. Wardships programs were used by a lot of gay people when gay marriage was illegal, so were adult adoptions. It was to have a legal connection in whatever way possible. And I think in a really old comic, Dick has a dream where he's living in the manor as an adult still with Bruce. Bruce has a portrait of them together. They eat breakfast together in their pajamas or underwear, and spend all their time together. Batman regularly saves Robin over civilians and for his relationships, sometimes they wouldn't work out simply because of Dick. It worked this way for many Superheroes and their sidekicks in the "golden age" of comics! Batman has always had queer undertones since his creation but adding Robin into the mix just proved this. Like it or not, Bruce and Dick had sexual and romantic implications to their relationship since the character was first introduced in the 40s.

As for Old characteristics, in the New 52 i feel as though some of the characters have been washed down do their base characteristics. They lack depth in a way some characters don't or in a way some do, particularly in fanon. Dick's possessive originally and I see people talking about his anger issues as a child a lot, especially in comparison to Jason's Robin run, but either way - the characters have changed throughout the years. That doesn't mean that people can't cling on to their old relationships or even their old personalities. People are so fond of making Jason insane and crazy and Hella mean when in recent adaptations, he's a normal vigilante for all intents and purposes. He's not even a crime lord anymore, I'm pretty sure he still owns the Iceberg Lounge. That's all to say that the boys used to be a lot closer than they are now, especially Tim and Dick and Dick and Bruce.

The conclusion to my explanation to her is that batcest is much of the same as any other ships - picking and choosing what to take from canon to put two people together into a relationship that you like. It's a work of fiction and while that's important to remember, it doesn't say anything about you in real life! you don't enjoy real life incest if you like JayTim. That's all to say si that there's reasons behind it that some people like and some people don't. She wasn't swayed by my answer but accepted it since she couldn't deny that the Batfamily has been explored on and their relationships together so much more than their relationships with anyone else, canon or fanon.

they were originally a joke ship (which was my last chance to get out) but they grew on me more and more throughout last year, and months later they've become my favorite pair to draw! their name was the funniest thing to make of them because i got to joke around with their jpn names

the tl:dr of them is that there's a lot of good drama to make of thirty-somethings with the weight of responsibility of their respective cultures on their shoulders, as well as their personal thoughts of the trainers of their respective regions, all this culminating together to be really compelling for me to develop, so I'll ramble a Whole lot more under the cut about them :D!!

before they meet its postgame and they’re both in their thirties (early to mid), lance post gsc/hgss still upholds his champion position and managing the dragon's den alongside any g-man/undercover rocket work on the side (in workaholic mode), riley post dppt is occasionally battling at the battleground but also holing himself up with patrols on iron island and doing egg research and training his aura (Also in workaholic mode)

i'd say all the work makes byron and roark try to get him a break from all that, convincing him at some point to take a vacation! see the sights my guy you've been workin yourself to the bone

it's canonically shown in hgss that riley does appear as a partner for the battle tower, so at some point he is in johto! the region resonates with his cultural sensibilities so maybe he revisits it again to instead actually relax there.

lance would probably catch his hat flying away when he's visiting elm's lab (a fellow egg researcher) in new bark and riley would have absolutely fell first for him (and i'm a sucker for meet-cutes,,,)

and from there they hit it off! being both skilled trainers in their own right they battle and go out to eat after and talk about their family (clair and the elders, for riley's case his family friends byron and roark), their culture (dragon clans and aura guardians), and then when they talk about their respective trainer kiddos (silver and dawn) something clicks between them (it’s a Really rough snippet but hopefully it’s decent)-

"Do you have any kids? I know the news loves to make up some kind of story about secret love affairs with a random person." the guardian says, awkwardly.

Lance smiles, "Oh, yeah! I have one but he's technically not mine." Riley chokes on his iced tea.

"I'm sorry?" A million thoughts roll through his mind as he processes his words said so matter-of-factly.

"Haha, sorry, sorry, I'm only partly joking."

"E-Elaborate..."

The champion explains the general gist of things as he's met him, Silver, his kid-by-odd-circumstance, was homeless for a while, but was training alongside some other up and coming trainers. Uncovering some Rocket related files, he learns he's the son of the boss of the entire organization, and after some on and off meetings he eventually got him a place to stay at the Dragon's Den, and soon after began living with him at his place when he warmed up to the idea of adoption.

There are times he gets overwhelmed with all that he's been through, and some nights its all too much. But Lance was there with him, stayed with him every step of the way, unlike the one who gave him that abandonment anxiety in the first place.

"He's my kid, not by blood, and maybe not by his family, either. But instead, by his own decision he chose to stay with me. I'd want him to keep the freedom he has now." Lance states, firmly. "And now he's grown up as strong as I believed he could. I'm proud of him, as much as he tends to deny that." Riley senses his draconic aura swell with pride, mixed with a humbling sincerity in his words.

"What about you? Any kids of your own?" the sudden flip of the question surprises the guardian briefly.

"N-Nothing adoptive but…I suppose it's similar, in a way to meeting them as you have."

The guardian's turn, now. Dawn was someone he met when he was training on Iron Island, and also served as a guide to get her through the caverns. When he felt something off in the aura surrounding the area, he eventually learned of Galactic causing the pokemon on the island to feel restless and agitated. With her, they were able to clear the island of their antics and even gifted her a Riolu egg on her journey. From there, he was impressed with how strong she was, and did hear from Cynthia that she raised his present up to evolving her into a Lucario. He couldn't have been happier.

That was the case, until he caught the aftermath of the events of Mt. Coronet.

What Cyrus did, the lengths he'd go to, and dragging the both of them into a mess that could have torn the world apart.

After that, Dawn stayed home for a while. Cynthia put him as a contact for her mom, who was really worried for her. With his aura and her friends, Lucas and Barry, they were a big help for her recovery. And eventually, after a lot of time and work, she became the region's champion. She messages every now and then to him, as processing any trauma is never an easy road, but he realized how lucky she was to have the people she'd met to keep her steady, and knew she'll be alright.

"I...still wish I could've done more for her," Riley says, quieter. "Cynthia told me about what happened in that other world, and it...it was a lot for Dawn, a lot of emotions to help her figure out." he finishes, sheepish.

"…I don't blame you for feeling that way, I wouldn't know what to do in a scenario like that, either." the champion says, unsure too.

"It's amazing, in a way. All these kids going through so much on their own. I'd be proud were it not so scary, realizing how young they are to go through what they have been through."

"There's only so much you really can do, as an adult. I've realized that fact a long time ago." Lance's aura felt oddly melancholic, as bright and pretty as it may appear. "It's either immediate or slow when things change for them, and sometimes you'll have to make a choice on the spot when the time comes for them to decide what they want to do." It sounds like he’s speaking from experience, but the melancholy makes it appear that he's had some regrets.

“I trust in them to find their own path, eventually. When they’re together, those kids are gonna be alright on their own.”

His reassurance helped, even if only by a small amount.

I should make some kind of master post about them at some point but WAH god I’m so happy I can actually put them together in pokemon masters, they’ve really grown on me and I’ve developed a lot for the both of them in my free time, but yeah this is the rarepair that’s been on my brain for ages now, a gaze into my goo brain 🤪

sorry I just finished my fifth(!) playthrough of tales of the abyss so i'm going to be extremely annoying about it for a bit

this is entire game spoilers, obviously

something I don't think i've ever really appreciated until this replay is just how complex Guy is as a character, and particularly the little subtleties in how his moods change. he's both very open and not open at all about his feelings. being with Luke makes him a better person, sometimes because he's in that caretaker/coddling mode where he lets Luke get away with shit when he shouldn't be, but also because Luke is his friend and he cares about him a lot

and one thing that really stuck out to me in this playthrough is WOW, GUY CAN'T STAND ASCH

I don't think it takes a lot of particularly complex analysis to pick up on this but something that becomes really apparent during Asch's brief time in the party + whenever Asch shows up afterwards is that Guy isn't really interested in playing nice with him. He's not exactly getting combative with him, but he's noticeably more serious whenever Asch is around and is not at all interested in spending time with him. There's a really noticeable tension during Asch's brief time as party lead with the whole party, but Guy ducking out early is clearly him deciding that he does not care for Asch and thinks he should be by Luke's side during his lowest point

And I think the reasons for why Guy does not like Asch are pretty clear cut, and Guy literally spells a couple of these things out to Luke a few times throughout the game

Guy and Luke are friends, Guy and Asch are not. Whatever potential friendship the two of them could have had was tainted by Guy's revenge plot (which specifically involved killing Asch in front of Duke Fabre!!! fucked up!!!). When Asch was "kidnapped" and Luke came back in his place, suddenly Guy was responsible for raising Luke, and those seven years completely changed Guy's perspective, and then that perspective changed AGAIN as he would have come to realize that the person he was friends with was technically never the Duke's son to begin with

ASCH IS SO MEAN TO LUKE LIKE ALL THE TIME. He's constantly calling him names! Luke's self-esteem is in the gutter for like the entirety of Act 3 because he can only think of himself as Asch's defective replacement and is worrying about how he doesn't have a place in the world, and Asch keeps reinforcing these feelings literally every time he's on screen! That's Guy's friend he's being mean to!!!

i think there's also something to be noted about how Guy is basically the only cast member who actually brings up Luke's age in relation to his maturity. there's been a lot of drama about how Luke is seven years old and so the shipping stuff is creepy over the past, uh, 18 years, but Luke does actually act like a seventeen year old. he's not a child.

(like if we start treating Luke like he's a child then boy do I have some questions about Ion and Sync)

Guy, however, does call him a child twice, and both times are in context of trying to convince Luke that he has a whole life ahead of him. Like the big scene everyone brings up in Daath is specifically Guy trying to convince his best friend not to kill himself.

and if I'm getting into hard headcanon territory, Guy probably thinks about Luke that way specifically because he's the one who had to raise him.

anyways I'm not really going anywhere with this beyond that I think Guy and Luke's relationship and the way they play off of each other is really fascinating. I feel like Guy is the character who our understanding of changes the most over the course of the game and where it ends up by the end is really, really interesting

we know that minyeon isn’t incest… right? we know this? it’s important to me that we know this.

like yeah ofc samin is “technically” min’s adoptive mother or sister or whatever. but, it’s more of a manipulation tactic rather than an objective truth. take a traumatized 9 year old and love bomb them with promises of family to make them your child soldier, hey, it works out great. but isn’t the point of 78 that samin doesn’t actually see him as a son? he’s just her tool. “samin calls them a family” but yall ship samin and pink just fine ? lmfao. it’s not a family she’s just a manipulator <3

there’s no one in this world samin loves more than sayeon, and i think the hidden part of that statement is there’s no one samin loves other than sayeon. the crimson society are nowhere near her family. we see how she actually treats people she considers her family. that’s not them. samin doesn’t see min as a relative in any form, point blank period.

min on the other hand, seems to love samin in some way. lovebombing does wonders on the prepubescent mind! it’s not entirely clear, but if min still has the capacity to love, he would love samin. she’s his savior and he would do anything for her, even babysit her ungrateful kid sister. but that love doesn’t extend to sayeon?? at all??

once again, not entirely clear how he feels for sayeon but he holds a lot of resentment towards her. he doesn’t even like her, why would he ever see her as a sister? his love for samin is only for samin, the person who gave him a life. sayeon is the antithesis of that love. she has what he wants and she throws it away like it’s easy to take for granted. in what world does that translate to “he sees sayeon as a sister”. lol, what.

and sayeon is, sayeon. she has zero idea about any of the dynamics going in between min and samin. like hello??:?/)$:/ she knows nothing, min is not her adopted brother, step brother, god brother, found brother, idk man. whatever you want to call it, that’s not how she sees him. using min as a tool seems to run in the family lmfaooo that is the extent of any familial relation between min and sayeon

so for the last time, it’s not incest?:)/),&: i should know what incest is i’ve sadly suffered through oshi no ko. the only way it could ever be “incest” is if min considered sayeon his sister. he doesn’t. he literally just stopped seeing sayeon as his opp; she is NOT the homie, let alone familial.

i dont ship minyeon in the slightest but i get really irked when people label ships as problematic just as an excuse not to like it. you can just. not like it. and you can just say that you don’t like it. no one is gonna jump you bro!

I just watched Fairly Oddparents a new wish, and here are my thoughts.

I love this show. Genuinely, this is my probably my favorite reboot/sequel show that I have ever watched along with Fiona and Cake. It is fantastic and if you have not seen it yet, I recommend you do.

The best way to describe this show is that it feels like someone took the concept of Fairly Oddparents and applied it in modern times, and it works so well. The original show was wackier and full of more hijinks, while this show follows the trend of modern cartoons being more mature, with characters feeling more realistic and human. Yes, there are still plenty of cartoon shenanigans, it is very funny, but it is also so good at writing characters. No longer does it need to rely on over the top cartoony satires. It uses its modern setting and its realism in its favor, blending it with the shenanigans and magic that the show is known for.

I have seen some people say that Peri is the only good thing about the show and I couldn't disagree more. Yes, I do think the show is stronger in its second half, once he appears, however, I think he is alright. To me, the real star is Hazel and her relationship with Cosmo and Wanda as well as her own parents. It is so refreshing to see genuinely good parents trying their best, but who sometimes screw up instead of idiots who treat their child as trash. Dev is also a highlight, he is a very deep character for a show like this. But yes, I love that Hazel feels like a character more mature for her age, because that allows her to have issues that relate not only to kids, but adults too. It is incredibly smart. And those are the best episodes, the ones where things that things that are actually important, like dealing with anxiety (which is explored several times in the show), learning to appreciate your age, and accepting who you are are beautiful.

The first part does have the slight issue of having episodes whose main purpose seem to be introducing new characters to potentially explore them later and very little more, but those are just a couple of episodes and they do learn pretty quickly how to mix character introductions with life lessons. It is an overall brilliant show.

There were some episodes that were a little boring to me- or rather random since they didn't really deal with any characters learning anything truly, but if the writers were having fun with their concept I don't mind.

I think that my real biggest issue was the last episode of the show that felt a little rushed with Dev and Irep just taking over Fairy World like that and then getting it back felt too easy, but I won't complain too much. Having Dev lose Peri after he said he cared about him, the only thing Dev really wanted hurt. It does lead to the issue with fairies, because, for Hazel, losing Cosmo and Wanda will be sad, but she still has loving parents and friends, and even her teachers love her. She will be fine when the time comes. But Dev is in a similar spot as Timmy, where their fairy is all they have. That's their entire family and you will take that away from them, potentially leaving them to end up as Crocker.

I wonder if they will explore that at any point. I have hope. Speaking of exploring, I do hope that we see more of the side characters, like I would love it if Hazel took a step back for a few episodes and let Winn shine (fuck yeah, nb rep), or another one of the kids or even Cosmo and Wanda. I do want to know how they feel about their retirement and their relationship since it is so much better than it was before. They are a genuinely great couple in this show and incredibly funny, too. Their love is contagious.

Now, for ships, because so far I have seen some, uh, let's say interesting ships for this show, and yet, I have not once heard the mention of what is my personal favorite ship (which is technically a crackship but shhh) and that is Peri X Anthony. Anthony is shown to maybe be having relationship issues, and I think Peri is incredibly queercoded, not to mention, I think they would really get along. Also, Anthony is the only adult who can't forget fairies. Here is my fanfic: together, they create a place to help people who lost their fairy godparents and have no one left, much like how Timmy was most likely left when we last saw him. As for what happened to Timmy, I'm honestly not too fussed about him. If they want to bring him back, I hope they do with the intent of developing him further rather than just a cameo. And even then, I think that it would be far more interesting to bring back other characters first, like Trixie or any of the female characters who were done so dirty in the original. But if I had to bring him back, I'd do so by having him be working for AJ as a paranormal investigator. Much like crocker, he never grew past his fairies, but he knows how to mask it better. I was legitimately just pruning my bookmarks the other day!! thank you so much for asking.

I don't read too much fanfic these days, and I'm picky when I do--only about grammar/punctuation and immersion though. I ship a LOT of stuff (I guess The Youth would call me a proshipper) and although I never read darkfic, I don't shy away from weirder kinks and unhealthy relationship stuff.

categorizing by pairing, if applicable. some of them are smutty, and please note that the first 3 come from FFN which doesn't have a tagging system, but there is some SA CW I'll give in advance.

KAKASAKU | my first OTP! formative fics that totally reshaped my understanding of what fanfiction could be, and how well-written chemistry can make it or break it

HOUSE OF CROWS is the quintessential kakasaku fanfic. it was written during shippuden and so is canon divergent because of that, but also tells a comprehensive story of its own right that is intriguing and well planned. excellent characterization and world building. leaves me gutted in the best way on my yearly reread.

DUTY BEFORE HONOR is another silvershine classic. I don't reread is as often as House of Crows but they are just about equal in quality. again, the chemistry between them is off the charts, and the world feels so alive.

WILL OF FIRE for me is up there with House of Crows in being essential kakasaku reading. cynchick is a multisaku champion and a wonderful storyteller. the stakes in this one are stressful, the romance tense and believable, and we once again get lovely world building and great chemistry.

ITAKISA | a pairing near and dear to me, because men who do everything wrong are so deeply relatable. they both know they don't deserve anything good ever again but they found each other!!!! ARE YOU GUYS SEEING THIS--

A SHARK HIDDEN INN THE LEAVES doesn't have my favorite version of Kisame, but he's plenty close enough. it's a lengthy oneshot that got me into certain *ahem* kinks. it is a very fun and wild fic that is entirely self-aware of how absurd it's being, and manages to have nothing but sincerity at the same time (and I highly recommend the author's other stories as well)

AN ORCHESTRA PLAYING ON, INSANE is a modern AU (extremely rare in my bookmarks) that absolutely tore my heart out. god is it SO much to ask for these losers to be happy?! yes, it is, and I love every moment of it

MADAMITO | a rarepair I am SUCH a sucker for that has some of the most talented authors writing for it. lots of them have ot3 elements between them and hashirama, often angsty, but stuff like that is part of the appeal for me, lol

A HANDFUL OF SKY is an unfinished fic that I genuinely think about like once a week. if it ever updates then I will be over the moon. technically hashimadamito but it hadn't quite gotten there yet

LIKE ALTARS is just such a beautiful piece of writing, mostly on madara. it is everything, that is all

BLOOD AND RIVER WATER is more mito-centric but has one of my favorite madaras of all time

YOURS ARE RATTLED BONES is another short, mito-centric but gut-wrenching piece featuring the opposite type of madara from the last one

OTHER | character-centric stuff that isn't necessarily shippy but also doesn't have a very "gen" vibe either?

A SERPENT IN THE RICE is a little series about orochimaru that makes me feel so so so many things. highly recommended

HERETIC is such a love letter to kushina, and kurama too. cannot stress enough how much I adore this one

You slowly opened your eyes to see light filtering in through the cracks in the wood, and the feeling of the cot’s bedding against your skin. You slowly reached out and touched the material, and even though it was rough and smelled (just like the rest of the ship) of the sea, you were grateful for the chance to rest on something more gentle than the wooden mast you had been previously tied to. It took a moment to remember all that happened the previous night, and for a moment you worried that it was all a dream. Now all that was missing was a change of clothes and the feeling of stepping out onto dry land, something you would hopefully be able to do soon.

The door to the small room creaked open, and Will Turner stepped inside. He looked tired, and you immediately stood up as if you had been sleeping here in secret, and not as if he hadn’t been the one to allow you in his room. “Is everything alright?�� you asked.

He nodded. “On the ship, yes. But I need to tell you something, and it relates to you getting back to shore.”

This was it. He was going to tell you that everything he said last night was a lie and that they’d be tying you to the mast again posthaste. “What is it?” you asked, trying not to sound disappointed.

“It will be a few days before we’ll be anywhere close to land,” he said. “And unless you’d like to take a boat and brave the open seas, you’re stuck here for a little longer.”

Oh. That didn’t seem like it was that worrying, but you supposed after your conversation last night, you did expect to be off this godforsaken ship sooner rather than later. Well, you could attempt to sail off into the sunset yourself, but something in your mind warned you how that might end (and it wasn’t good). “I appreciate the offer of a boat, Captain, but if it’s all the same to you, I’ll wait until you make port.”

A smile crossed Will’s face before he responded. “The Dutchman can’t make port yet, but we’ll get you within sight of land before we let you free, I promise.”

“Why can’t you make port?” You had heard many stories about this ship, but you assumed that at its core it was the same as any other pirate’s vessel, and as far as you were aware, there was no restriction on how often you could stop somewhere.

“As long as I continue to guide the souls of those die at sea to the other side,” Will said. “I may come ashore for one day every ten years, and five years still have to pass before I am allowed to set foot on land again. Like I said, I know what it’s like to be tethered to this ship, and you will not have that fate. The man who wronged you will become part of the crew when he dies, like the rest of them.”

You nodded, and you could see the way his face changed as he spoke. You wanted to know more, but you didn’t want to push him to relive the pain he so obviously had gone through to get here. You had your suspicions about the ship, and the fact that the crew were technically dead, and this only went towards confirming it. “I understand,” you said softly. “And I don’t mind the wait to get to land, as long as you do one thing.”

“And what might that be?”

“You allow me to walk freely among the decks for the remainder of my stay.”

At your demand, Will smiled. “I would never dream of tying you to the mast again, that I can promise.”

The experience of stepping out onto the deck of the ship was nerve-wracking. You would be facing an entire crew of (dead) sailors, who believed that the only place for you on this ship was with ropes around your wrists. Other than working in a place where you would come across them quite often, you knew very little about pirates in general. Will had told you that he had no intention of keeping you trapped, but would the rest of the crew listen to him?

It took another day before you truly stopped worrying, and you found yourself fascinated with pirate life. Of course, life on The Flying Dutchman was going to be different than most other ships sailing the high seas, as this crew didn’t really do much in the way of raiding or violence (at least anymore, because you had heard the stories of Davy Jones), but you enjoyed the feeling of the open water and the freedom that being on the deck of a ship brought. No longer tied to land, a piece of your brain whispered at you to stay here forever, or at least to join a true pirate crew when you made landfall again in a few days.

Thankfully, Will kept to his promise. The two of you spent a decent amount of time together, given the fact that you didn’t really want to be around most of the other crew members, whose leering smiles and wandering eyes often caused a shiver to move down your spine, but you never felt that way around Will Turner.

You spent the most time in his room, and he was kind enough to keep allowing you to use his bed. Where he slept now you didn’t know, and you didn’t know if you wanted to ask either.

At night, you spent time with him on the deck of the ship as the rest of the crew slept. The ship often returned to float upon the top of the ocean rather than exist in its depths, and you liked the small break from watching the sea of departed souls travel to between realms (which unsurprisingly, was decidedly depressing). Will was incredibly funny, and your laughter often danced upon the soft waves the ship sailed upon, neither of you caring if you woke up the other crew members. You didn’t know that much about him other than the few pieces of information that had come up in conversation, but he seemed to be more open with you. He was completely alone in life (or death? Honestly, you still weren’t sure), and you could see he had moments where has past ate at him, but you didn’t want to bring him more sorrow, so you kept your questions to yourself.

Well, not all of them.

It was on one of those nights that you finally plucked up the courage to ask him something that you had wanted to from the moment you two had that conversation on the deck and the first time he allowed you to sleep in his room. “Can I steer the ship?”

Will laughed. “Do you even know how to steer a ship like this?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as you approached the wheel.

You were silent for a telling moment before speaking again. “Of course I do!”

“So you have experience?”

Pause. “Yes.” Your voice was a little less certain this time.

“And what experience would that be?”

More silence. He was right, there was no way around it. “Come on, why can’t I just steer for a little bit? What’s the worst that could happen?”

“You could sink my ship, that’s what could happen.”

Now he was lying, and the smiles present on both of your faces were clear that this argument was not that serious. “Can’t this ship never sink though?” you asked, eyebrows raised. “I think that makes it the perfect ship for me to practice with, don’t you?”

He must have known that you were never going to give in with this, so with an exaggerated sigh and a step to the right, you now had access to the giant wooden wheel. This was the brain of the ship, and every tremor that swept through its boards originated at this very point, where you were standing. Staring out at the empty deck in front of you, an image flashed through your mind. In it, you were wearing a pirate’s hat and commanding a crew of your own, but this time in broad daylight. The sun was high in the sky as you spun the wheel and moved freely through the water, wind catching in the sails as pirate colors flew high from the mast.

And through all this, Will was there as well. It may seem like something of a shock, but the logical part of your brain knew exactly why he was part of this particular fantasy. In the time since you stopped hating him, it had become even more difficult to ignore how attractive he was, and there was a part of you that wanted to escape back to land so that the recurring fantasies of kissing him underneath the moonlight would finally stop playing each time you slept, the smell of him strongly intertwined with the rough bedding you fell asleep against every time.

You pulled the wheel to one side, and the ship jerked loudly. It didn’t completely turn upside down, but there was a shift in the direction, and a slightly uncomfortable rocking of the boat that was echoed by the movement of the water. “Whoa!” Will said, rushing back to stand right beside you rather than a few paces away (as he had been before). “What are you doing?”

“Turning. I have everything under control, I promise.”

He tried to look stern, but a smile peeked out anyway. “Somehow I doubt that,” he said, stepping even closer. Now he was standing right behind you, and he gently moved so that his hands were covering yours as they rested on the spokes of the wheel. “How about I help you steer for a little?”

You wanted to make a joke about him not trusting you, or wanted to move a little bit farther away from him, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. The feeling of his body against yours and his head almost leaning on your shoulder was intoxicating, and you desperately wanted to turn around and kiss him.

But you didn’t; instead you just stood there and relished in the feeling of his hands covering yours as you gently moved the ship in a large circle around a piece of the open ocean. You were no pirate - this whole experience had taught you that you were far from a natural at all this, but boy did you want to learn more if he was going to be the one to teach you.

After Will pulled back slightly, softly saying that he trusted you to not ruin the ship at this point, you turned around and pulled him into a hug. The two of you separated, but now you were faced with a new issue. He was within kissing distance, and you really really wanted to change that.

The movement was slow, the two of you ever-so-gently testing the waters as you brought your faces closer together, and at first you didn’t even realize that you were doing it. But then all of the sudden his lips were right there, and you were all ready to cross that final bit of distance between you.

Until one of the men from below the deck sneezed so loudly that you pulled away from each other.

“I’m so sorry,” Will said, as if he had suddenly come to his senses. “I didn’t mean to imply anything-”

“It’s fine,” you said, the moment having completely fizzled away for you too. “I’m sorry too.”

It hurt to lie like that, to imply that you didn’t actually want to finish what you started. But all of this had suddenly become too messy, and there were too many unknowns about your situation for you to feel confident jumping headfirst into something more with him.

No matter how much you wished that crew member had sneezed just a few moments later.

In defense of Nettles innocence 🐑

Unpopular opinions coming through, Nettles is one of the most innocent characters during the Dance.

Every account of her being “less than innocent” comes from biased sources(the chroniclers) that don’t think that a lowborn girl, especially a homeless Black lowborn girl with a prostitute for a mother who’s had to steal for her supper, can be innocent. She’s simply not allowed to be innocent(other than acknowledging that the execution orders for her were wrong) based on the boxes that she’s been put into.

When you are dealing with a character like Netty you can't take one action in a vacuum. You have to cipher through the biased accounts and take into her entire life story to see who she is. When you actually look at her you have a girl who still possesses a great deal of empathy and compassion despite everything she’s been through and she’s been through a lot.

We never see her harming innocents. During the Battle of the Gullet, we see her defending her home(Driftmark) from the Triarchy:

The civilian casualties came from the Triarchy’s end, not Nettles and Sheepstealer who had come in to attack their ships at sea after they(the Triarchy) had already attacked Driftmark. Nettles never rained “fire and blood” down on the innocent people of Driftmark. She had only come in to protect them.

Furthermore, she shows great empathy when Jace a boy she barely knew was killed before his time during the battle. She mourns for his loss and sacrifice(in conjecture with witnessing the overall destruction of her home).

When the Blacks take the capital, shes not raining down fire balls, she literally just lands her dragon on Visenya’s Hill:

She isn’t a warmonger, or a war criminal, and while she’s technically a soldier, we don’t see her harming any civilians or instigating any fights. She sees very little combat and she’s not terrorizing everyday citizens.

Now onto her “innocence” or lack thereof. If she was forced to prostitute herself(aka if you believe that she’s not a maiden) then it’s most certainly not because she wanted to:

Her losing her virginity isn’t an empowering moment. It’s not a moment we should look onto to show she’s got agency or control or God forbid that she’s a wanton Jezebel. It’s a moment where we see just how dire her circumstances were. We can see how Westeros society harms girls like Nettles and leaves them vulnerable to abuse.

Nettles isn’t willingly having sex(we’ve got no indication of her having normal sexual relations with a lover, with the exception of Daemon, only that she potentially trades sex to feed her belly).

She's not some liberated medieval woman who because of her low status in society has sexual freedom. She’s not choosing to f*ck. That’s not what is happening here. It’s about survival plain and simple. In a world where women do not have many options and lowborn women even less, this is her only option. The option being rape(because again this isn’t something she wants).

She’s potentially a victim of pedophilic rapists. She would’ve forced herself to endure rape when she was a child as young as 9 all to feed herself. The act of losing her innocence is a sin on her abusers and not on her.

Let’s talk about her relationship with Daemon Targaryen. The most “villainous” thing she does is sleep with a man, Daemon, in an open marriage:

A man with whom she finds some amount of happiness (and she’s gotten so little of that). A relationship that hurts no one except her when it’s cruelly ripped away from her (and leaves her reeling in the aftermath because unfortunately, she’s the innocent who suffers from loving a man like Daemon).

In her other sexual dealings(her rape) she isn’t willingly choosing the course of action she’s taking. She’s doing so to survive, but with Daemon for the first time in her life, it’s not only about survival. It’s about her joy. This is what she wants and she puts herself and has someone who is willing to put her needs first.

As far as her slaughtering sheep and symbolism go, the sheep are more so a metaphor for herself. The sheep are her, not her victims or her sins. She's the lamb for slaughter. She's the innocent who is destroyed and transformed by others' sins to

Slaughtering the black ram(which symbolizes strength, determination, and triumph over one’s enemies) when she leaves Daemon marks her final transformation, because up until then I think she had hope and had found some happiness/peace in where she was. She is still a seed sprouting.

However, the last shred of what was is taken away with her execution orders. She therefore grows as a person. She’s overcome what has been thrown at her to come into her own. She is not beholden to anyone. She's her own woman. Yet at the same time, she’s still the same empathetic fearless Netty that she was. Those demons who sought to destroy her did not break her spirit. She's just been freed from them.

At the end of the day, Nettles is just a young woman who’s been dealt an unfair hand in life but still manages to rise above it all and never impart harm on a world that has harmed her.

She’s a scrappy girl who has to do what she has to, but she's not a “bad girl.” She hasn’t done anything reckless or harmful enough(any time she attacks, or steals, or whatever it’s in self-defense) to be considered a “bad girl” (which is why I find the accusation that she is downright untrue when you look at her character's actions) or that she’s even “morally gray” or a “wayward girl.” I think she’s an all around good person who hasn’t done anything fundamentally wrong especially considering the world she lives in.

Nettles is well within her rights to exact some vengeance on a world that has shown her nothing but cruelty and contempt, but when it’s all said and done what does she do? She chooses to lead a quiet life away from it all. She isolates herself and shuns polite society. She chooses peace and solitude rather than violence.

Does Nettles have to be an innocent character? No, but leading with the argument that she’s somehow a deeply flawed character who’s not a innocent to prove a point that you can do bad things and still deserve sympathy which is an important point to make, but it isn’t telling her story. There are plenty of characters throughout the Dance who are less than innocent that you can sympathize with, Nettles, however, isn’t one of them.

I think it’s a cop-out to say that Nettles isn’t innocent because that’s how the world, both ours and in universe, sees her. She’s not a mother whose innocent child has been unjustly murdered right before her eyes, or a little girl who witnessed her family killing each other, and she’s not one of the faceless victims of the Dance. She doesn’t have blonde hair or pale skin.

Physically, she’s not what we think of when we think of “innocent” and that blinds our own opinions of her and her story despite who she’s shown to be.

It takes more to see past our biases, to take off the goggles, and to truly recognize that she’s not a corrupted person than to say that she’s innocent because that is what we see when we look at her.

We don’t recognize that someone like Nettles is one of the innocents whose life was almost destroyed by the destruction around her. We don’t see that she is unquestionably a good girl who has a lot of garbage thrown her way but manages to rise above it and not sink into its depravity because that is not what we have been taught to see.

Instead, we see the less-than-innocent girl who while she did not deserve to be murdered, she still has something about her that leaves one feeling like she is tainted.

honestly, how talk abt them to friends sometimes arent my actual characterizations of their dynamic/relationship. But really they're spinning in my head like a microwave everyday, so my interpretation of them of them generally change depending on settings, aus, or just my mood.

The thing that draws me to them is the fact that Fanny seems like a loyal solider(quite literally), but to where she'd definitely throw herself off a cliff for her leader/command(for rachel only really.) Meanwhile Rachel is pretty oblivious to the length Fanny would go for her – and visa versa. They're devoted to each other, yet are scared to repair their fractured friendship at the same time(mostly on fanny's side).

Honestly idk how to explain it xjsb

also the fact Fanny was Rachel's runner up for her GOT fuels me everyday, cause besides this moment, we don't really get too many moments where rachel isn't pissed at fanny for reasons.

could just be her being harsh as it comes with a leader, cause welp, fanny does fuck up a lot. But with these interactions you'd think Rachel wouldve considered ANYBODY else – besides nigel – for her second choice. so 1000000000% rachel had to have ALOT of trust in Fanny to place her as a second in command of an entire global organization, despite her trackrecord of botched missions(which, honestly i believe is why Nigel had been Rachel's first choice, because while nigel had seen mostly sucess in his teams' mission, fanny had gotten the short end of the stick and just faces failure after failure from what we've seen.)

uhhh anyways!! Fanny fell first(unknowingly) amd by the time they become teenagers, Rachel ends up falling harder and depressingly misses her GOT while she's suffering in TND orientation.

It's technically split down the middle between Rachel and Fanny, but my focus usually flipflops. So this week we got:

Rachel: for reasons, honestly, I loved her since i was a kid. There's a lot to disect about her, and i love that, love her position, her personality, the kind of the role she plays, etc etc idk how to explain any of jt, or the specfics so you get this short ass summary instead

-also headcanon: her relationship with Harvey is rather strained, so Rachel tries to make it up to him by favoring him when it comes to mission assignments when he joined the KND, he also struggles to get her approval by completing them

Fanny: ashamed to admit, i cannot sit through a fanny episode withoht needing to pause and pace around – but like rachel, i like pretty much everything about her, she's interesing to disect as so much of her background is left up for interpretation. Like why did ahe join ths decommissioning squad? Why is she the way she is? Because of the decom squad or her time as a nurse, or just life in general bxns?

-headcanon: Her real name is Francine, and Fanny's a nickname because she thought it sounded less mature and didnt put too much thought in it's meaning in Ireland cuz she didnt live there that long (also her mother didnt have the heart to sit her down and explain it to her at her young age)

other global ops dont bat an eye to it, unfortunately Irish operatives cringe everytime they hear her name.

3. Chad is a loser. A failure. And i love him for that/j but actually, his entire character is interesting, and so much is left in the air for me to dig my teeth into and make up shit for him. One major headcanon i've convinced myself of for him is that he's related to rachel/harvey (cousins???)

4. Cree love her. I can forgive a woman of her crimes always xmsn one reason she's high up on the my list this week is she's interesting(duh), but like all the others she has so much character/info on her but little bits not filled to where i can just make up shit- canonically, i love her role, hsr character, she's an amazing villian/antagonist steals the show everytime - i'd pay warburton with my own money to write what she was like as a KND operative, she is quite skilled from the bits we've witnessed in flashbacks and in the present. One thing that runs through my mind is that Warburton in a Q&A, hinted that Cree probably wouldnt have scouted by the TND, that she was already trekking on a dark path while in the KND. BSJDB

-Headcanon: her and chad and steve have nights where they just hangs out and they watch stuff on Adult Swim. She probably likes South park

To be honest, i got no hate towards any of the characters in KND, they're all really interesting in their own way.

I remember you making a post about someone (catradora anti) judging catradora edits and i'd just like to add that this one catradora anti i saw hated that a person made an edit of chappell's "you'd have to stop the world just to stop the feeling" to the portal scene because it "twists the song's meaning"...

...Only to put catradora with the same song, but instead to paint the ship in a negative light. They said they understood the actual meaning of the song, and that what they made may not connect with that meaning, but they also just wanted to put catradora to it for reasons i can't remember because i didn't really read the whole thing before blocking. Because, like what? Pretty hypocritical imo (tangent: they had a post about how catra was hypocritical for hating touch from everyone else but always initiating it with adora, which is a whole can of worms that i don't want to address but. Man.)

i discussed before in part of a reblog chain (you'd only have to read my addition rather than the whole long essay. but here's a short summary) how pulling the portal lever was mostly about getting back at shadow weaver, but i never denied that wanting things to be the way they used to be with adora was definitely part of it.

and i know of a few great edits that do a wonderful job of portraying catradora to "good luck, babe!" by chappell roan: notcxtraa | wyldvfx | drewpyfilms

i don't know how someone could make an anti-catradora edit following the narrative of the lyrics closely unless it was actually about glimmadora, an alternative ship you didn't mention, with adora being the person sung about and glimmer being the one singing, as well as "him" representing catra who is a he/him lesbian btw so true tbh.

this is unrelated to your point but since you brought it up, honestly? i kind of have to agree that catra is technically a hypocrite about boundaries related to touch. i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing though, as long as the people she jumps all over are okay with it too, and adora certainly seems to be unless it's by surprise, so they have the situation agreed-upon. it's entirely her valid choice to be comfortable with adora caressing her and standing by her side at a very small distance but not with scorpia hovering right in her face enthusiastically all the time.

you also have to remember that catra grew up by adora's side and was happy to rely on her for support ─ up until adora left and catra realized how much progress she could make without believing she was standing in her way, of course ─ and apparently didn't even know scorpia existed until they were both force captains. also, catra is very demiromantic/sexual-coded, as elaborated upon already, and as someone who also identifies that way myself (green is a great color for my blog theme, as you can tell!), i can't help but relate heavily to the idea of being overwhelmed by someone we just met already pursuing us.

Do you think it was a cop out that Damon didn't know Elena was sired from the get go? Can't one argue that he had plenty of experience to draw from considering he'd sired someone else before and had front row seats to a sired Tyler? Furthermore he has this moments on the show where he is able to put two-n-two together but when it comes to the SB that's where he draws the line?

I suppose the response to that would be that Damon wanted it to be real so so badly that he was just so blinded by his happiness and his love for Elena that he just couldn't put two and two together because poor woobie Damon 🙄

But the whole thing with the sire bond is that the reason for its existence is to make Elena act OOC. I keep bringing this up because the writing for it is inherently awful, because they needed to go against Elena's character, they needed to go against seasons of writing for Stefan and Elena,

so we have a person who couldn't quite grasp what agency is paired with a person who was only thinking of the plot line in relation to how it would provide drama for Delena

You want people to be happy for a second, but then you just have to keep knotting it up over and over and over until it's super-complicated."

so it doesn't surprise me that when these two plus the writers room came together to untangle the consent issues of that plot line, it became Damon doesn't know about it so they can have sex and it's not like he's taking advantage of her (even though he still does but anyway) because he just didn't know and let's add some angst in there by showing that Damon has had someone sired to him before and he couldn't unsire her so omg how is Elena going to get unsired? DRAMAAAAAA. And no one thought about the contradictions and the holes in these decisions or admitted that they wrote a really weak ship that needed this in the first place.

So, basically, it's all terrible.

Moe is an extraterrestrial. She looks simple yes, and she kind of is visually. I made her years n years ago in junior high, there's a whole story to how she exists, but basically I saw fox girls (like the nekos but foxes, i never remember their names. . not kitsunes, but??) when I was small and I thought they were cute, so there she is. She's a fox-girl alien thing. She shapeshifts and has a lot of kooky abilities, like minor healing, fire elementalism, and sounding like a M a n . She has weird vocal chords that give her a wide variety of fox noises but she can also mimic people and instruments n stuff. She does fox stuff too. No she doesn't shit sparkles out her butt, I just thought it would look cool on the ref for the time being.

Their eyes aren't really that big btw lmao, i just goof on them because they got the big brown eyes look most of the time. truly "🥺??" moment. They have normal size eyes lolol.

They have other forms, I just didn't draw them here. The other one they use sometimes is just called "anthro," which is just your basic fursona-lookin' thing with the same colors n all of their fox form. Their forms, however, can only stray from some kind of fox monster so much and they don't work like normal shape-shifting i dont think. theyre goofed.

Moe wasn't entirely made for selfshipping. I was too young to know what that was, but she is kind of an oc/self-insert hybrid. She's very adaptable given her lore can land her anywhere, so she doesn't have one universe she's "canonically" in. She goes wherever I want her to go. But because of that, she evolved a lot of lore and alternate versions/outcomes of her life including those where I was like "fictional person go brr" and threw her in there.

They do have relations to s/i 2 (who ill edit onto this post later sometime, they'll be revealed later.) Consider her their "younger sister" or something.

They go with all of my f/os, unlike s/i 2 who only really gets shipped with or interacts with a couple of them.

So, the weather factory is Vos is run entirely by the Rainmakers. Unlike earth, Cybertron doesn't have naturally occurring precipitation. There's no water cycle, for obvious reasons. They still have winds caused by different temperatures on the planet and vertices at different points, but you didn't come here for a meteorology lecture. The point is, the only way it can rain on Cybertron is thanks to the work of the Rainmakers

The acid rain on Cybertron comes in two forms: high pH and low pH. Both types are secreted naturally by the Rainmaker seekers, as just part of their biology. They're born that way, each sparkling producing one of the two types of acid. As a general rule, whatever type they're born with is the type they'll have all throughout life, but they're nsturally immune to both. Now, low pH rain is more famous: that's the type at a 1 or 2 on the pH scale, think hydrochloric, sulfuric, and muriatic acids, the type that burn and melt through just about everything they touch. The low pH rainstorms are most often used to cleanse the cities of filth and grime: a swift downpour of acid causes everything but specially made buildings to melt down and be easily disposed of through the drainage systems. High pH acids, on the other hand, don't burn, but are incredibly toxic. Touching it won't kill a mech, not by a long shot, but it can poison them and make them very sick. It absorbs through living mesh and metal alike, a single drop chock full of multiple strains of viral matter and a shit load of microscopic crap that's really bad for cybertronians. This rain is the type that allows crystal flora to flourish: they absorb the different infectious contaminants and convert them into energy to further their growth. Without it, they're likely to wither and die.

Both types of storm are made exclusively in Vos's weather factory, made to order and shipped out (escorted through the sky) by the Rainmakers. This specific branch of seekers is responsible for all precipitation on Cybertron, and as such, is one of the things that allows Vos to remain an independently governed entity. They have close business relations with Praxus and Crystal City, sending them periodic high pH storms to allow their crystals to grow, trading for energon. As Vos is a sky city that orbits Cybertron, it has no source of fuel of it's own. They also do business with all the other citystates, though less frequently: each city orders a handful of cleansing low pH storms every vorn, to keep things nice and squeaky clean. Generally, the more well-off a city is, the more often it rains. As such, the Rainmakers are a vital part of Vos's economy and infrastructure, but also the entire planet's ecosystem as a whole.

The weather factory is ruled and managed by one of Vos's 6 major noble houses, the House of Storms, and works most closely with the House of Diplomacy. The vast majority of Rainmakers are related in some way or another: it's a pretty rare gift, and the nobles are very good about quickly snapping up anyone that happens to possess the mutation and marrying them into the family (oh yeah, the gene that makes Rainmakers secrete their acid is technically a mutation. A dominant one that doesnt require double recessive inheritance. Basically if a Rainmaker has kids, their children are guaranteed to be Rainmakers, but it can also occur randomly to s child born to "normal" seekers at likena 0.00005% chance. Anyway. Genetics rant over). Rainmakers are treated very, very well in Vos, one of the pivotal figures that has an iron grip on arguably the most important export the city has.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows for the Rainmakers, however. They live rather isolated lives on account of their acid: it constantly secretes from their bodies, some more than others, to the point they're pretty much always dripping. They leave puddles wherever they stand, and wet footprints when they walk. As such, they're a walking contamination zone and an accident waiting to happen: touching another mech will either poison or burn them. They live in a specialized noble aerie tower, everything inside made of or coated in extremely basic material that acts as a buffer to their droplets. Though they're primarily nobles they rarely have in-person contact with others of their standing, keeping to themselves for everyone's safety. The weather factory is entirely under their jurisdiction: orders come in, they fill them, they ship them out, rinse and repeat. It's the only work most of them will ever know, and when there are sometimes long stretches between orders, they have lots of time to play and entertain themselves.
