Day 28 - Finale

After weeks of battle, triumph, drama, and other teenager shenanigans, it is finally time to crown the winner of Total Drama Sims!!

Our finalists are Lilium Pond and Dahlia Grove. These two have outlasted everyone else and now, all of the eliminated contestants will be coming together to vote for a winner as a jury! Votes will be public, so you will know who votes for who.

Voting will go from the bottom of the leaderboard up (aka last place to the most recently eliminated), and will be confessional-style to make up for those who never had a confessional while on Total Drama Sims. So, without further ado, let's determine our winner!!

I swear I will revisit this coherently at another time, but re: my tags on Nat's Varsity Club gifset

[LONG READ; probably will have typos . I just need to get this out of my brain. Ver.1]

I've had this idea -for the VC Mike -> Irwin R. Schyster pipeline- just stewing in my head for awhile and it's an unholy amalgamation of headcanons, headfuckery, some musings from friend's fanfiction (Dealbreaker 😏), and others.

After one year in the Mid-Atlantic area, Mike starts to mention one thing in his promos (once he gets his bearings and stops mumbling in them), and that's money. Money starts to become a running theme.

Money, titles, winning— he starts to make his intentions clear whenever Bob gets a chance to interview him.

"[Gary Hart] is making this guy a lot of money..." "I want to do my best to get titles because titles bring in the money..." "I was *this* close to slamming the One Man Gang and winning that $7,500."

Of course, I'm paraphrasing a bunch, but it's so interesting to hear Mike use those words when we, the audience, know what will become of his gimmicks in the 90s.

An exciting moment in time for this perm headed gentleman; he gets the love of the crowd and the announcers go on and on about how good of a boy he is.

They take every moment to brag about his amateur wrestling background, his accolades, his body (😏), literally anything to help build this bland, lovable, white meat babyface up!

Also, it's important to note that he's generally by himself during this era. No manager, no permanent tag team unlike Sgt. Slaughter + Pvt. Nelson; Steamboat + Youngblood. Sure, he gets partnered up from time to time with the Briscos, Kelly Kiniski, Skip Young, but he's primarily just a Singles wrestler out here winging it, putting folks in his airplane spin.

Fast forward 5 years or so and we get into Varsity Club Mike. No doubt Kevin transforms Mike into a shitty, prideful, disgusting variation of himself. He's cocky, confident. Gone are the days of sportsmanship, Mike is here not just to win, but to humiliate anyone he pleases. And the thing is: he's really good at being a heel, he excels at it.

So Mike gets the titles, the "respect"...all thanks to....Kevin. Sure Mike is a monster, capable heel, but it's Kevin's encouragement/guidance and Mike's obedience to him that grants him the accolades that he's desired from the beginning.

IMO/Headcanon time: Kevin treats Mike like his golden boy, held to such a standard that other members of his Varsity Club must look up to. This inflates Mike's ego so much that he feels unstoppable, infallible. But the Gamesmaster knows when to clip Mike's wings when he gets too ahead of himself— too far from his influence.

I'm gonna fast forward to IRS lest I keep rambling all night, but what I'm getting at is this: Mike spends most of his career prior to IRS as either a bland singles wrestler, or part of stables/tag teams where he is enhanced by those around him.

His transformation into IRS is something that I'm still trying to put succinctly into words. Instead of being managed by others, or in a partnership with others, Irwin is great singles wrestler early on in his debut. He has a clear goal, and he is intent on achieving it: making others pay.

If we really want to get abstract with it, one could say that Irwin's objective and purpose isn't even his own. Sure, his goal is to get people to pay what they owe, and if we're going to dive deeper into the abstract concept, he is a human vessel for an entire bureaucratic entity.

The word (the US tax code) made flesh.

You can see this in how he talks about himself sort of in the third person. It's wordplay, sure, but it's hard sometimes to separate the man from the revenue service of which he is representing. I know and am aware of *the* IRS...but who is Irwin, the man? Does that part even exist beyond physicality?

Pay what you owe, pay me now, pay me later. Just pay me. If he can't get the earnings from titles, he'll just take the money from you.

His singles run doesn't last long since he is then partnered with the ultimate twisted representation of wealth: Ted Dibiase. A pairing too good to be denied. A partnership where he, once again, pledges his service/loyalty to another.

Seeking money to point of being consumed by it, transformed by it...stripped of your individuality, only becoming synonymous with it.

I see Irwin R. Schyster as the culmination of Mike's whole career. One passing mention of money in an interview with Bob Caudle and then it becomes the thing he is most remembered for. The Varsity Club had Mike hone his innate aggression, ruthlessness, and pride; Irwin R Schsyter took that and focused it further by becoming an assertive heel intent on making you pay.

And while we can all point and say that money was the root and cause of his most memorable gimmick, one does have to ask....

Beyond the influence of Kevin Sullivan, Ted Dibiase, and a whole government agency...

Who *is* Mike?

i was at the fonda (night 1) when luke referred to sierra as his wife. however, no wedding band. i'm sure someone else has mentioned that, but i haven't seen anyone else talking about it. this weekend's fashion display by luke in milan..sierra nowhere to be found. he does have a ring on his left hand, but it doesn't seem like a wedding band to me. and if it were, why didn't he have it on at the fonda? rhetorical question. anyhow, this is a very lengthy way to ask your take on it all, and do you think they are married or was it a planned "announcement"..which he didn't seem to make mention of night two?

Pardon the delay in my response, I wanted to wait a beat to see what happened after.

First, Luke was wearing his matching ring with Ash. Ash was wearing his the prior couple of days of events and with fans. Luke hasn’t ever worn a matching ring with her, which therefore there’s nothing to construe as a wedding ring for them. Ever. Luke and Ash have been wearing theirs ever since the band Twitch stream. Check out my various black onyx ring tags. Also, since Youngblood era (stars rings), Luke and Ash have worn various matching rings. They’re sneaky about it. Sometimes they both will wear it, sometimes only Luke, sometimes only Ash. Ash doesn’t wear any rings when drumming.

Released his album with Sony (known for using stunts and people’s personal lives as promotion. Example: all of the Spidermen and Mary Jane’s have “dated”). He’s also managed by Matt Emsell/Ben Evans, who have managed the boys all throughout Modest days.

No article or anything afterwards, which would typically happen with these things…. instead there’s a mystal pregnancy announcement to overshadow it. (Which don’t even get me started on THAT whole thing….)

Luke hasn’t mentioned it anywhere else or made a formal announcement. There was a big deal made about the engagement (along with the standard PR article in People, Ben earning his money) so if the marriage was real, wouldn’t there be one? Luke said some lovely words in his ig post but nothing about any marriage? HELLO?

I truly 100% don’t think they’ll ever get married. Luke and Ash remain devoted to one another. The time is ticking on the Lierra breakup. (Side note: Notice how Ash nor any of the other boys nor anyone on their team nor family members have acknowledged it either??)

Another side note that I find entertaining: I find it very reassuring that the fans actually don’t favor the duet (Older), which was supposed to be this beautiful love PR move between the stunt. Caramel is intensely much better of a song. The gays tend to do a much better job at it. (Hello Elton John and so many others.) Ash would never think of trying to overshadow Luke, like S tried to at London ONO.

Luke’s been flying solo to events ever since the guys were in Aussie. She wasn’t at Fashion Week either. (I’m including video clip proof he was solo.) [Theory: A couple fellow Lashies believe it was some sort of trade off that he had to say the marriage thing at his show so he could be sans Sierra at Fashion Week. Fashion is his. He wants to be himself whenever he can. One day Ash will be next to him though, cheering him on proudly.] Luke has been at events with bandmates, family members (his brother), or is solo ever since they were in Aussie at the end of Take Me Home Tour? Which we need to acknowledge how much Luke absolutely SLAYYYYYED at Fashion Week!! Multiple of different outfits! Get it!!

5 years later 

"Welcome back to 107.9 the metro. I'm Faith Holt and We're here today with the lovely Geo Summer for the promotion of her 3rd album. We're all excited here at the studio but tell me, Geo, how are you feeling about this album? What can you tell us about it?"

I smiled at the interview, the headphones on my head pressed down alittle too tight giving me a headache as I spoke into the microphone. "I don't want to spread expectations but it's my favorite album yet. Me and my team have worked so hard on this album and every song has my sweat and tears poured into it." 

"I can't wait. And neither can your fans. You're currently trending on Twitter in the Music and pop culture category with the hashtag, GS3Velocity." The interviewer said reading off some note cards. "When's the new single coming out?"

I smiled and held up a CD in a case, "how about in a few minutes for ya?" The interviewer smiled and grabbed the case from me. "You heard it folks, Geo's new single later on 107.9 the metro. But until then I have some questions for you."

"Shoot." I smiled.

"You grew up in Australia correct?" She asked making me nod, "Yeah until I was 18, and then I moved to Canada for 5 years and now I live here in LA."

"A lot of your current fans are high school students, how was your high school experience?" She asked.

I nodded, "it was great. I was in a band and had awesome friends."

"These friends included the band 5 Seconds of Summer correct? Stay tuned until 7:30 to hear about 5sos newest album Youngblood, How close were you with the band?" She asked.

That stupid band name was going to be the death of me. Every time I would turn on the Raido or look on Twitter it was always them. Now it had followed me to my personal life.

"We were friends. The drummer of the band was my friend from when we were 4 until we graduated." I tried to stay as broad as possible, hoping to move on to the next topic. Hell, I'd leak the whole album right now if she just stopped talking about that band.

"And what about you and Luke Hemmings?" She asked.

"We were friends. Just like me and all the guys." I said gritting my back teeth lightly.

She reached over to a CD holder and pulled out a CD case. "Fans were doing some digging and found this in 5 Seconds of Summer's first album." She opened up the case and slipped out the booklet from the case. "Did you know your name is their self-titled album is mentioned on the track Amnesia? Did you help write the song?"

She handed me the booklet. Sure I knew. I knew it was there because it was my song. It felt like ages ago when I wrote this song but it was played all across the world too, and 5 Seconds of Summer got the credit.

"Just something I wrote in highschool," I told her handing her back the booklet.

"Do you still talk to the guys? What about your other bandmates?" She asked.

My head spun.

"We're all doing our own thing now. and they are doing absolutely amazing things on their own." I just said.

The interviewer nodded took my single out of the cd case and popped it into the CD player. "We'll have Geo back on here in a few, right now here's Geo's new single, He's Alright." She clicked play on the machine and then turned off our mics. The red light went off signaling we were off the air and I sighed in relief.  Thank goodness.

"That's been Geo today ladies and gentlemen. Don't forget to stream Velocity on June 20th anywhere you stream music. Thank you so much for being here today Geo." Faith said causing me to smile, "Of course. Thank you for having me." 

"Here's Summers by Target Audience!"  The red light went off and I took off the headset relieving the tension in my head. I said goodbye to Faith and the crew, thanking them for today, and soon left.  I checked my phone time, it was 6 and I couldn't wait to go get dinner. I was absolutely starving. Skipping lunch wasn't a good idea but I was running around everywhere today. Chinese food sounded amazing.

I sat down in the lobby of the radio center and placed my bag on the table next to me before I called an Uber to come pick me up. It said it would be here in 10 minutes, I assumed traffic was bad to get here. 

My phone rang and I picked it up holding it to my ear. "Hey, Sarah," I said into the line.

"Me and your dad listened to your show online! It was amazing. Max and Katy are already screaming for the song to be played again." My stepmom said into it.

"I'll send over the entire album for them on a CD," I said.

"Your dad's really proud of you honey. And your mom, I know she would be proud of you as well." I smiled, "That means a lot, thank you, Sarah."

"Okay, I'll let you go honey. Come visit soon! We love you." 

"Love you, Mom."

Sarah slowly hung up the phone, I could hear her own breathing on the other end. I may have never known my real mom, but Sarah was the best mom I have known. I loved her and my dad more than anything, plus Max and Katy. They were my biggest supporters. Max was always telling his friends at school that his big sister Geo was a rock star.

"Aussie?" A voice said from next to me in his own Australian accent.

I turned my head slightly to barely take a glimpse at the man who had a beanie and sunglasses on matching my own, "New South Wales." I told him where I grew up.

"Same actually. Small world." He laughed lightly shaking his head. He walked over to the chair I was sitting in and slid off his glasses.

"What high school did you go to? I'm sure I know it." Ashton Irwin asked.  My face fell as I stared into the eyes of my old friend. I hadn't talked to him in 4 years.

"South high," I replied honestly. Gosh please don't recognize me. Please don't recognize me.

"No way. Smallest fucking world." He said laughing shaking his head, "What's your name I'm bound to know you right? I'm Ashton."

I didn't answer but just turned to look at the door.

"Gigi?" Ashton asked causing my breath to hitch and I squeezed my eyes shut. It was rare now to hear Gigi instead of Geo when in high school it was the opposite. Only one person could call me Geo and now the entire world called me it.

"Ashton," I mumbled looking down at my phone that had dinged saying my ubers here. I stood up sliding the glasses up to the top of my head. "Lovely seeing you, but my ubers here."

"Bullshit." Ashton spat as I tried to walk past him.

"Excuse me?" I asked looking at him with raised eyebrows.

"Show me." He said. I rolled my eyes and held up my phone to him. He grabbed it and looked at the Uber app, I watched as he clicked on the screen and handed it back to me, canceling my ride.

"Oops." He said.

"You owe me that cancelation fee," I said glaring at him. I watched as he pulled a loose $10 bill from his pocket and held it out to me with his eyebrows raised. "Sit your ass down until your next Uber gets here."

"I don't know who you think you're talking to." I spat.

"I'm talking to someone who didn't answer a single phone call past her 19th birthday. So sit. Down." He said pointing to the chair I had been sitting on.

I sighed and sat back, taking off my hat and glasses and throwing them in my bag. Ashton sat down on the other chair, his elbow resting on the arm of it as he rubbed his face lightly.

"BB Records," I said. He waited for me to continue, "They didn't want me talking to you guys after your band got signed because it was a competitive record label."

He nodded lightly telling me to go on. "I'm sorry," I said sincerely. Silence filled the room and he motioned for me to keep going. 

"What else do you want me to say, Ash? I have no excuse for actions." I mumbled turning to look anywhere but at him. The table next to me had a Bouquet of flowers in a vase. I grabbed them out of the vase and held them out to him. 

He stared at them for a minute before slowly grabbing them and standing up.  I stood up too, guilt across my face. "I'm sorry."

He smiled largely at me and engulfed me into a hug that swallowed me in the fabric of his shirt. "I missed my best friend." He said into my hair.

The bell on the front door rang making Ashton pull away slowly.

"We leave him alone for 5 minutes and he's already found someone he knows." I recognized the voice as Michael's.

"Shit," I mumbled squeezing my eyes shut. I could handle one member but not all of them.

"It's okay," Ashton whispered, "Just chatting it up with an old friend." He said throwing an arm around my shoulder forcing me to turn around.

"Gigi?" Calum asked.

They were so big. I didn't know people could age so much in 5 years, I mean they were proper adults. Michael had the same hair as he did in high school just his natural color which I thought I'd never see the day where he embraced it. Calum had the same shy away eyes that Maddison always talked about when they were together in high school. And Luke Hemmings was the same as I remembered. Beautiful. Like a prince out of a storybook, he looked Magical with his piercing eyes and his hair. His hair was longer, something my dad used to tell him not to grow out. He was taller, I mean a lot taller. I felt small compared to him and he wasn't even close to me.

The clock had started back up.

"And before you say anything, it was her manager who didn't allow her to answer our calls. I've accepted her apology for the group." Ashton said beaming.

"You look great Gigi," Michael said stepping forward a few feet to hug me. I smiled into the hug, "And you look the exact same Cliffo."  He chuckled lightly pulling away, patting my shoulder as he did like he was checking if I was real.

YOUNGBLOOD #75

Written by John J McLaughlin (with “script assistance” by Manolis Vamvounis) Drawn by Jon Malin Published by Image Comics Gail Cook’s article on Youngblood has come out, which serves as a backdrop for this issue, giving some history on the team, as well as recaps of the current team’s most recent adventures, but not every member is happy with the way they’re portrayed. We get another battle against a random horde, in this case it’s a bunch of virtual 1920s gangsters with machine guns. Die Hard attacks Lady Photon for her excessively violent actions, but Shaft breaks it up and then holds a team meeting where he chews them all out for their unprofessional behavior.

Jeff shows up, and Shaft is a bit uncomfortable at seeing how happy the rest of the team are to see him again. Jeff informs them of the appearance of the dead versions of Vogue from the future. The team, especially Vogue, takes this much more lightly than you’d expect. Then the alarm goes off and as the team races off for their next mission Jeff begins to run with them before being reminded that he’s not on the team anymore. Then Handler offers Jeff the leadership of a new superhero team that the U.N. is putting together, but he declines, insisting that his superhero days are behind him.   

For a big “milestone” issue like #75, this was a rather underwhelming story, especially after the buildup in recent issues about the dead Vogues from the future subplot which just feels like an afterthought here. Nothing really happens, and nothing new or interesting is revealed in the magazine article. In fact, there’s a glaring continuity in the form of a double-page spread that is supposed to show the original Youngblood team, except it includes Troll, Knightsaber, and Masada, who weren’t founding members while excluding characters like Battlestone and Link, who were. But we do get another Badrock cliffhanger, as it appears that something is breaking out of his stone body, with a tagline that Youngblood is “still just getting started.” But I think that’s the problem, after 5 issues McLaughlin feels like he’s still figuring out what he wants to do with this book. Hana Takuya, professionally known as Han, was born to two middle class parents in 1995, being their eldest child. His birth was followed by two sisters and a single brother. Takuya’s upbringing was very strict according to him as his parents believed the arts were a waste of time and none of the Hana children should go into them.

Though, this never deterred him from finding a love for dancing. He said he first fell in love with ballet, always wanting to take a class but knowing his parents would never allow him to. So, instead, he joined an after school dance team that he said was a debate team so his parents wouldn’t get suspicious. There Takuya would develop his dancing skills and begin busking around Japan with the group. During one of these busking events, Takuya was scouted by DSP Media, being only fourteen at the time.

Not wanting the opportunity to go to waste, Takuya told his parents about his want to be an idol. This went over horribly, resulting in Takuya being disgraced and kicked out by his parents. He hasn’t had any contact with his parents since 2009 but has reconnected with his younger siblings.

Being one of the original members of DEEPDIVE, Takuya began training under DSP Media at the ripe age of fourteen, debuting at nineteen in 2014 as the group’s main dancer and lead vocalist. He became the group’s producer after their debut, finding a passion for music production and composing.

After ANGELICO’s acquirement of DEEPDIVE, Takuya was promoted to leader, replacing Jisung. He grew in popularity due to this position change, many praising his dedication, artistry, and visuals. After the switch to Angelico, Takuya often gets the most modeling gigs and solo activities in the group.

Being one of the most popular member of the group, he’s often villainized online or unfairly targeted. He’s often targeted for his bluntness and straightforwardness or his etiquette during award shows and other groups performances. He’s admitted multiple times that he does these things for attention and to make people mad, giving him the title of “the shit starter of kpop”

Since his passing in 2019, Noah Son has been the center of many discussions around mental health, company negligence, and overall mistreatment in the idol industry. In the hour and a half long video essay by KPOP video essayist and Angelico Hater, ANGELHOE, she goes over the timeline of Noah’s life, his death, and the exploitation after his passing. The video gained over a million views within the first 24 hours, many Sirens (Deepdive stans) finding the video impactful and very well done. ANGELHOE, real name Dolly Williams, revealed on Twitter Angelico hit her with a cease and desist because of her video. “The video is staying up until Son Jinhwa knocks on my door and serves me papers himself” Dolly tweeted after getting the letter. A week after video was posted, now sitting at 6 Million views, Dolly posted a selfie of herself holding papers captioning it: “angelico served me but i know the law baby 💋” confirming that Angelico is trying to silence her and the narrative she’s painted of them.

Amity park/ ghost zone vs Justiase league legal case

AMITY PARK

they sew the justice leagues for negligence, they tried to say they didn't get any information about the attacks, one look at the phone records and emails show how wrong they were

They also showed how they put any calls/email from amity park in the spam folder

Intent to harm, the people of amity park said that they said they would get rid of them. No context.

They use that to question the ethical implications of the JL

The JL try to use anything against amity park and fail every time

The trial is broadcasted because people thought it was just a crazy town, then they watched the legal case and saw how the JL are in the wrong and start questioning them

The JL though it couldnt get worse, then they brought in the ghosts

The ghost admit to what they did but they also explain what an obsession was

The JL is double fucked because they didnt ask about the ghosts, they just said they would get rid of them

Then 5 teenagers come to the stand

Jasmine fenton, Daniel fenton, samantha mason, tucker foley and Valerie grey

They talk about how these 5 teenagers had to step up as vigilantes to protect their town

The whole world is pissed off now

The YJ team are pissed they're "too young" but 4, 14 year olds protected an intire town on make shift wepons from their lab, and 1 17 year old

The JL are so stressed it affecting their civilian lives

GHOST ZONE

The ghosts sue them on behalf of the GIW

Imagine their suprise when all the illegal activities come out

Experment, tax fraud, unethical practices,

The world sees this and has lost faith in the legal system

They try to play the self defence card but once obsessions come into play there screwed

Half of the league is pissed the GIW and their "research" exist

The other half are having an extustenchial crisis

Then they see phantom

The same phantom the GIW have been saying in a dangerous and evil entity with no emotions

The JL are so stressed they dont even try to fight this one

The world collectively is against the government now

It dosent help that the GIW try and attack all the ghosts whenever they see them, even the kid ones Like youngblood, cydny, phantom, cujo

Some RswR details/discussion :)

There were a lot of cool details in the newest episode of Roleslaying with Roman (episode 5) and there is something that I haven’t seen anyone else point out yet, so I guess I’ll do it myself!

I’ll get into it under the cut as not to spoil the episode for anyone :)

Okay, so I can’t be the only one who noticed the crystals (at least somewhat) representing the sides, right? I mean, just look at them:

It’s not just the fact that there’s seven, in the colours of the sides (including orange), but also what some of them represent within the episode. 

Take the first room, with the pale blue and yellow crystals.

In this room, they have to reveal the biggest lies they’ve ever told. When Roman talks about his messy room, the yellow crystals (Janus/Deciet) start glowing brighter, but when he finally admits his actual fear, the pale blue crystals (Patton/Morality (or in this case honesty)) glow brighter to show he’s on the right path.

On their way down the tunnel it is specifically said “the glow of the pale blue crystals, and a little bit of yellow from that dishonesty, light your way”

Up next is the maze room, with orange and purple crystals.

In this room, Youngblood is blinded. I’ve seen a lot of theories surrounding Orange, and how he could have some form of blinding ability the same way Janus can silence people. Most of these are derived from the Orange = Anger/Rage theory, and the phrase “blinding rage.” Additionally, in this room Orange tries to harm Youngblood, while Purple helps them out.

I’m honestly not quite sure how to interpret the purple crystals (which would be Virgil/Anxiety). (I doubt it’s even intended to be this deep, I'm just reading really far into it). Maybe it’s because, similarly to rage, anxiety can often feel blinding? Sometimes you need a friend to help you out of the spiral, because you can’t do it alone :)

Anyways, next are the doors with the green and red crystals!

This one feels rather simple. Roman, ever chivalrous, wants to do the princely thing and be polite to everyone. So when they mind their manners as the sign suggests, the red crystal (Roman/Creativity) starts glowing. At first I thought it was weird that it wasn’t the green crystal that was glowing, because green means go and all that, but if you think of it in a Sanders Sides context then it makes sense. The green crystal (Remus/Dark Creativity) would glow if they were to ‘break the rules’ or do something they weren’t supposed to. All the rooms also have interesting (you could say creative) puzzles/solutions, at least in my opinion. 

Finally, we reach the end of the cave, the final room.  

And what do we find? All the crystals in the wall.  ”Crystals are embedded in the same formation on either side of the wall of the chamber. They gleam bright in the dim light. Pale blue, yellow, purple, orange, red, and green. They are laid out along and in between five straight lines carved into the rock behind them.”

I don’t know why I found this detail so peculiar. Dark blue is in the middle, and yet is isn’t mentioned when describing the room. This could have been an accident, of course. This isn’t a word-for-word scripted series, after all. (Maybe it has to do with how they went through the rooms. The order the crystals are mentioned in isn’t the same as their formation on the wall, but it is the same as the order of rooms, and dark blue/indigo (Logan/Logic) doesn’t get a room either.) 

I do think the room has symbolism though. The “lines carved into the wall” as shown in some of the art clearly intended to represent sheet music to some degree:

The crystals start glowing once they hit the right notes, and the instruction is for them to sing together. To harmonise. So... are they (loosely) suggesting the sides need to harmonise better? That maybe if they work together as a team, they can get out of whatever mess they get themselves into? As the title of the episode suggests, Teamwork Makes the Dream DemonWork!
