I literally dont know how to continue explaining to people that part of the reason Goku decided to stay dead was because Gohan hated fighting.
He didnt know this until cell. He literally had no idea. Gohan NEVER gave any indication whatsoever. Couple that with the fact Bulma pointed out most of people threatening the Earth during that point in time were all people wanting Goku. The saiyans. Frieza. The androids. Doctor Gero. Cell.
All because of Goku. Its not his fault but his very existence consistently put the Earth in danger. He truly believed Earth would be safer without him and therefore, gohan wouldnt be consistently placed into battle.
Because Goku didnt know gohan hated fighting. But once he knew came the very interwoven nature of these threats he brought making his own son fight because gohan felt he HAD to. Not because he wanted to. For goku, protecting the earth always aligned with his own love for fighting. But gohan fought out of necessity, out of the very idea that they couldnt afford to do it without him. He has this power he didnt ask for so he must use it right? Because it would be selfish if he didnt.
But goku... goku thought gohan was like him. Gohan WANTED to return to help fight vegeta. He WANTED to go to namek. He WANTED to stay and fight after piccolo almost died to frieza. Goku didnt see gohan train that first year. Didnt witness what it took to make gohan a fighter. All he saw was his son who now was strong and wanted to join the fight like his dad. And he knows gohan is more powerful than them, knows he can stop cell, FELT IT. Gohan has to defeat cell because no one else can. So he thinks if gohan gets angry enough fighting cell, itll be the answer. Because thats how its always been for goku. And in thirty seconds piccolo makes him realize he's wrong. He doesnt argue back, he listens and concedes and realizes that piccolo is right. And suddenly goku wants to abandon his plan and stop the fight. He made a mistake. He intends to get gohan out. And in the end, he still ended up being right, but it doesnt change what goku now knows. Gohan isnt like him and he doesnt enjoy fighting.
Goku would have NEVER made gohan fight if he thought he didnt want to. You know this whenever adult gohan gets involved in a fight and goku apologizes that he had to. Or when someone suggests gohan for a battle and goku is like nah he's "out of practice," even when they have time FOR PRACTICE. He never wants to force gohan into a situation like cell again. Because cell was a mistake and goku has learned from it. So he never asks Gohan to fight anymore. If Gohan wants in then of course he's in. But he wants his son to be able to choose that. He wants gohan to be HAPPY and if thats not fighting then thats perfectly alright with goku.
So it wasnt just about keeping the earth safe. Or his friends. It was knowing that in the safety of gokus absence, gohan wouldnt have to fight either. There would be less threats, less chances of his son being forced into battle. And sure he also trusted that gohan and the others could keep the earth safe if they had to, but he was banking on the threat level significantly decreasing instead.
And decrease it did. They had seven whole years of peace. Not a single threat. Meanwhile from the moment Raditz shows up to gokus death to cell, it all takes place within the span of FIVE YEARS. The longest they went without a threat was the three year gap spent training for the androids. And they spent every waking moment knowing they were coming.
And then if you look at trunks future... majority of the human population being wiped out by the androids. Majority of gokus friends. His son. All dead. Because of him. Because he defeated the red ribbon army when he was a child. And that very easily could have been their future as well. So Goku does his job in preventing that. He saves all of them. And if hes the only one who ends up dead, well... it doesnt matter. Because they aren't. And he intends to keep it that way. So he stays in otherworld, to keep them safe and to give his son a future that he can choose. If Gohan has to fight, then he can. But at least his father wouldnt be the one bringing the threats to his door.
#goku has depth#and im tired of arguing this point#LOOK DEEPER FOR TWO SECONDS PLEASE#Gokus reaction to finding out gohan doesnt like to fight#his sacrifice#and his decision after#im tired of people acting all the time like goku would have wanted to remain dead and therefore never see his wife or son or friends again#hes content in the knowledge that this is the best decision FOR THEM#he makes that decision#for them#not for himself#goku#dragon ball#son goku#goku is a good dad#dragon ball z#dragon ball z kai#gohan#son gohan#goku and gohan#dragon ball rant#my rant#dragon ball super#dbz#dbs#cell saga#android saga#saiyan saga#frieza saga#kakarot

Thinking about Goku's thought process on the whole staying dead after the Cell arc.
Like, here's the thing, there's Bulma saying to Goku that most of the threats were mostly attracted by him, and of course Goku couldn't agree more on that, Piccolo, Radish, the rest of the Saiyans, Freezer coming to Earth, the cyborgs and Cell. So his thought process might have been, do I stay dead, leave my family, but like that, there's a bigger probability my family and friends will be safer, and Gohan will not have to find himself doing something he doesn't like doing or do I come back to life, go against the odds and just hope for the best nothing comes for me and my family, but if something deadly comes back and Gohan finds himself in a position he doesn't wanna be in again?
So, he just decided it was for the best to just stay dead and not come back. It sounds safer, but whatever choice he would have made, it wouldn't have been the perfect choice either way. Is it better to stay or to leave? Is it better to make them live in peace or risk putting all of them in danger? Neither of those solutions are perfect. There's always gonna be some bad side to it. Both of those choices sound selfish either way. But he chooses the one that has the biggest possibility of Earth being safe, so that has to count for something.
Earth lived in peace for like six years, and right on the day Goku comes back, here's another threat, sure it didn't come for him, but it sure is one hell of coincidence, at the end of the day that should have convinced him that he made the right choice in the end
#it's about the nuance i hate that people take this decision as him being a bad father because they just do not look at the nuances#it's a much more difficult decision than it gets made to be either way goku can't win on this can he#dragon ball z#son goku#dbz posting

About Vegetto and why he is one of my favorite DragonBall characters
Vegetto is one of my favorite Dragonball characters, (I also like Gogeta and in my point of view Gogeta and Vegetto are basically the same character and have the same personality, they just appeared in different contexts).
But what I like most about Vegito, especially in his first appearance against Buu in Dragonball Z, is how selfish he is and puts his own interests first, which doesn't differ from Goku and Vegeta essentially, both are selfish and always seek their own interests first, they are different only in those interests.
The universe is under threat and can be destroyed by Buu, but as soon as he is "born", his first priority is not to defeat Majin Buu as quickly as possible, much less save the universe, as would be (more or less) Goku's priority , as Goku was just desperate to repair the damage he had done by not defeating MajinBuu once and for all when he had the chance when using his SSJ3 transformation for the first time.
But his first priority is to save his children Gohan, Trunks and Goten, because at this moment these 3 are technically his children and I'm sure Vegetto felt it fully, since he considered his fusion to be certain and permanent, and his friend Piccolo's, his friendship inherited from Goku, which shows that neither Goku nor Vegeta were dominant in their fusion, he was his own person, but with the memories and feelings inherited from Goku and Vegeta.
Did Vegito need to worry about that? Theoretically not, because just as he thought there might be a way to remove these 4 from MajinBuu's body, he could have thought about killing MajinBuu first and then resurrecting them separately from MajinBuu with the Dragon Balls, in terms of risk , it would be the same, but he CHOSE to try to rescue them first, which shows that his decisions were made purely by his feelings and not for a cold, pragmatic reason, which he could have done, but I like this because it shows that Vegetto didn't sees himself at this moment as a play or a wild card, he sees himself as a real person (unlike Gogeta who many say is going "straight to business", but Gogeta knows that it is a temporary existence and that it will only last 30 minutes, he NEEDS to be more pragmatic, unlike Vegetto in his first appearance.)
He proved to be playful, calm, peaceful, tactical, manipulative and unafraid of taking risks like Goku and cold, calculating, analytical, intelligent, strategic, sarcastic (and sometimes sadistic) like Vegeta, but without the latter's anxiety about uncertainty ( not that Vegeta doesn't accept risks, but he is much less tolerant of risk and uncertainty than Goku) and without Goku's extreme recklessness (the latter is carefree to the point of giving enemies chances just for fun or to "educate" children (his children and Trunks) as warriors - I think that here, Goku lets his instincts as a Saiyan speak louder than reason and get the better of him (like cats that teach their kittens to hunt by showing them live prey, but Goku, different of cat moms, forgets to weaken his preys first, which doesn't happen with Vegeta as he is still able to calculate risks, he even took Trunks and Goten off the battlefield).
And with this willingness to take big risks, and also a hint of indifference to the fate of the universe (which I credit to Vegeta here lol), because his loved ones are currently dead and he doesn't want to kill MajinBuu with his children and Piccolo absorbed in his body this time, he risked being absorbed by MajinBuu without being sure that his plan would work just to try and rescue them.
It's one of the things that makes me like his character, he wasn't just there to kill Buu, He wore his “heart on his sleeve” Even though he's not clearly expressive about it (neither Goku nor Vegeta emotionally express their feelings, either) but his actions speak for him and I don’t think many realized that.
But that's one of the reasons why Vegito is one of my favorite DragonBall characters, apart from his personality and design, of course.

𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋.
NAME: Vegito. Vegetto. Vegerot. AGE: 40+. SPECIES: Saiyan (fusion). HEIGHT: 5'6" (167 cm). BIRTHDAY: Nov 7th. GENDER: Demi-male. PRONOUNS: He/Him. SEXUALITY: Greyromantic, Demisexual. MARTIAL STATUS: Taken* (Verse Dependent).
𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘.
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good. LIKES: fighting, anything physically laborious, nature, trying new foods, domestic (earth) cats, attention, being where he feels welcome. DISLIKES: his freedom being compromised, being treated with pretenses (insincerity), being referred to with "they/them" pronouns, high-pitched sounds, foul odors, his tail being touched w/out his permission. HOBBIES: training & exercising, spending time with his girlfriend*, gardening*, going for walks, people watching, shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), flying around earth to sight-see, traveling to other planets as a tourist.
Arrogance, pride, and vanity are three of Vegito’s biggest observable qualities. He’s proud of his pure power, capabilities as a warrior, and his rather handsome looks. He maintains a playful, casual demeanor most of the time and likes prodding at others to get potentially amusing reactions. He’s not without a slight temper, but it takes more to flare his total anger - though that's not advised to attempt. He can be respectful to others, if he wants to be.
Unknown to most but able to be caught if one pays attention, much of his showboating nature is purposefully exaggerated. Vegito is far more modest in reality, and possesses a sense of compassion that's almost all-compassing, regardless of how callous he appears as. It's not unusual for him to help someone he comes across, if they don't give him bad vibes. When in a very good mood, he expresses light-hearted and jovial mannerisms reminiscent of Goku. On the opposite end, when Vegito is in a terrible mood, hostility and maliciousness characteristic of Vegeta surface. He certainly has many facets. Regardless, he would give his life to protect Earth and his loved ones with little hesitation.
Deep beneath what exists on the outside, lies a man with an awfully large identity problem. Don't get him wrong, he loves himself, but he frankly hates the feeling that people just see Goku or Vegeta (or both) when they look at him. They don't see Vegito. He's his own person, and he refuses to live in anyone's shadow, even in the ones of those who've made him.
𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃.
The world, after a peaceful period of 7 years, found itself in grave danger yet again. With the appearance of Majin Buu and his master Babidi, Earth was terrorized by threats they could barely comphrend. Babidi's telepathic warning to either surrender Piccolo, Trunks, and Goten or face total destruction further spiked global fear. Unbeknownst to the people of Earth, Babidi was eventually killed by his own servant, who soon underwent transformations that made the end of the world more imminent.
Super Buu, after having absorbed Gohan, was too powerful for Goku and Vegeta to overcome. Fusion was their only option, resulting in the creation of Vegito.
Super Buu was no match for him. The fused warrior made sure to take his time in toying with the malevolent creature, but in reality, his actions were just to bait Buu into absorbing him so he could free his sons and Piccolo. Just to spite the entity even more, Vegito also decided to cut free the earlier form of Buu from his pod within Super Buu. The loss of all the absorbtions caused Super Buu to transform once again, taking on a much smaller form. While interested in seeing how the strength of this particular form differed from the previous, Vegito chose to stop wasting time and unleashed an immensely powerful ki attack that utterly vaporized Majin Buu.
The Earth was saved once again. All on the battlefield converged and had a moment of respite, until newcomers arrived to the scene: a news team carried by helicopter. Similar to the Cell Games spectacle, the people of Earth were keen to discover what chaos had unfolded this time.
Naturally, Vegito didn't hesitate to reveal that Majin Buu was no more, as he had been the one to destroy the monster. The reporter was astonished, and asked Hercule Satan to verify this statement. Hercule, having been utterly humbled by the event and the fused warrior's unbelievable power, confessed that Vegito's words were the truth. The world not only learned of Vegito's existence; he was also swiftly regarded as the world's savior. Hercule lost the title.
Ever since then, Vegito has begun to find his footing in his own identity, seeing as his state as a permanent fusion was here to stay. All the while, his status as the most powerful fighter spread like wildfire across the globe, sparking his societal transformation into a celebrity. He now has the "official" title of Earth's protector, and unlike a certain showboating human man, has the full capabilities to actually back it up. He more or less proved so 3 years after Buu's defeat, when Vegito soundly won the 26th World Martial Arts Tournament and took the title of World Champion to boot.
The only damper on everything is the private details of his personal life. Despite what he's done, one thing the fusion can never do is be what his creators were to their families. He's made up of Goku and Vegeta, but what does he exactly have outside of them? This question looms in the back of his mind constantly, and it doesn't have the greatest of effects on his mental health if he thinks about it for too long.
But, hey. Vegito is still happy to be alive, and to him, that's what should matter.
𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀.
— To briefly summarize his backstory, my Vegito has basically stolen all of Hercule's thunder. He's the newest global celebrity, becoming a face millions can recognize and was even commemorated by King Furry - though he still avoids making grand public appearances if he can help it. The worst that happens when he's out in public is how he gets occasionally stared at or somewhat followed around. Lots of Earth's average citizens are (rightfully) afraid of his power, physically and socially.
— The “1 hour” potara retcon made in Super is ignored here because I hate it, and Vegito never defused within Buu's body as he kept his energy barrier up. If the Mid-DBS AU is considered, he never unfuses.
— He has a tail! Vegito has yet to take on his Oozaru form, however.
— Chi Chi and Bulma didn’t take to their husbands permanently becoming one person well at all, and Vegito has his own conflicted feelings about them. He still does his best (at least for Chi Chi) to be there for them.
— He has a female calico cat that he took in from the streets and named Dango. He also has a male ragdoll cat named Mochi, that he got to be her companion.
— [**Mid-DBS AU ONLY**] Vegito took up Goku's old job of maintaining the Son family's farm, growing and selling vegetables, to help support Chi Chi and Goten (and because he honestly finds farming relaxing - he needs something laidback to do in his life).

Dragon Ball men, during their first/ last kisses:
Part 1
Goku: his first kiss was unexpected. You made the first move, as he was too inexperienced to notice the signs. He had gone wide-eyed in surprise before his eyes had flicked shut and his arms had come to your sides. It was a gentle kiss - more adoration than passion - and he tasted like tangerines. His last kiss was more desperate, sad. He knew he wouldn't be coming out the other side of whatever he was about to face. He had grabbed the back of your neck with a gentle hand and tugged you to him. After the kiss, which was short but sweet, he pressed your forehead to his and murmered something only you would ever hear him say before he jetted off without looking back. It would have hurt his heart too much to see you cry.
Vegeta: His first kiss had been right after you patched him up. He had been grotty and spiteful all day, flinching away and complaining everytime you tried to attend to him. He snapped at you and growled, but he was secretly thankful, his eyes growing wide and dark as you gently wiped an antiseptic wipe across a graze on his cheek. He had darted forward then, hurriedly pushing his lips to yours before his pride could change his mind. His last, however, had been far more calculated and tender. He had taken you aside with a softer than usual scowl, and made you promise to live for him, and not to wallow in sadness. Vegeta kissed you then, gentle and tender, before stiffening up and pulling away. You would NEVER see him cry.
Gohan: Gohan had smiled the whole time during the first kiss, making you giggle. He was holding you, his arms still aching from sparring and training. He was so sweet but oddly passionate, like he was searching for something within you that he desperately needed. His last kiss was rough and short. Your life was more important than goodbyes, and he was going to make sure you could see the next sunrise, even if it meant sacrificing his own.
Piccolo: It had been placed on your forehead while you were concentrating on something, and by the time you looked up, he had already turned away, the tips of his ears flushing purple. His last was sudden and tasted of blood, his eyes dilated in pain and sadness as he pulled away. He had yelled at you to go, to run, but you couldn't bring yourself to leave him. He bared his teeth at you and shoved you back until disobeying seemed more dangerous than the threat at hand.

Something many DB fans don't realize is that the Earthling fighters went into a depression during the Cell Saga (some PTSD too). Not just because of Goku's death, but also because they felt powerless.
Tien in particular complained about being powerless. Tien using his Ki-Koho against Cell was him trying to prove to himself that he was useful & it nearly cost him his life if Goku didn't save him. Then he was helpless again against the Cell Jrs. He said he wouldn't see the others again because he was depressed. (He probably has some level of PTSD but not to the level that Krillin or Yamcha has.)
As for Yamcha, his near death then seeing Goku struggle to survive the heart virus, and be helpless against the Cell Jrs. (not to mention his ex had a child with a man who was currently an enemy) all made him depressed. And he has PTSD on top of it. This is why he just wants to live a relaxed life and gave up fighting during the 7 yrs of peace.
Krillin saw Yamcha nearly die, saw SSJ Goku almost get killed by the Androids as well as suffer from the heart virus, saw 2 Super Saiyans and his frineds all get easily defeated and left in critical condition by more androids, had the fate of a victim of Gero and the entire world in his hands & he tried to save both but Vegeta worked with Cell so he felt like he doomed everyone, was powerless against Cell and powerless against the Cell Jrs., and had to watch his best friend/brother die again then comfort Goku's son. He was depressed but fortunately for him, Android 18 was attracted to him & his kindness resulted in the two getting married & having a family. So his depression was lessened a bit. But his PTSD remained. Despite gave up fighting to be a family man during the 7 yrs of peace, Krillin still went with Goku to help against Babidi. (PTSD & depression got worse in the Buu Saga after he faced near death from Dabura then sacrificed his life to buy time for his family and friends. Some added depression from not being able to save his wife and child from Buu.)
Heck, even Roshi was depressed. He felt more helpless than anyone since he was once the strongest under the heavens. But now he was as useful in a life or death fight just a bit more than the likes of Mr. Satan
And Chaozu stayed out of that entire battle. Like Roshi, he realized he couldn't help. And Tien didn't want Chaozu to die again nor did Chaozu himself.
And because there was no threat for 7 years, the Earthling fighters went into retirement. Can you call yourself a warrior when there is no war? This is why Krillin "retired" & formed a family with 18. But, when the world was in danger again, Krillin went along with Goku to face the enemy. And when he felt it might be too dangerous for him, he tried leaving like his concerned wife told him to do because he needed to be around for his family.
Krillin's depression and PTSD was further shown in DBS as he worked on overcoming these issues.
We didn't see much from Tien besides that he created his own school to train others to defend themselves and protect others. Chaozu is right alongside him.
As for Yamcha, he still had PTSD which is why he didn't fight when Freeza came back. But over time, he started getting back to a positive place in his life and wanted to join Team Universe 7 (but in a rather poor comedic way, he waited to be asked to join but Freeza was chosen instead).
Roshi didn't have the trauma like Krillin & Yamcha do. (I mean he had his trauma from when King Piccolo took over the world hundreds of years ago, but he's had hundreds of years to overcome his PTSD of that without it hindering him much.) But he still had fear becauae of the huge power gap against enemies like Golden Freeza was even greated than what the gap was for the 3 strongest Earthlings. Overcoming depression and PTSD were not something for his character in the Buu Saga nor DBS. His issue was comedy based; a lack of focus when fighting due to having a dirty mind.

His Lovely Rose - Chapter 12: Battle's End
Previous. . . . Next Chapter. . . .
——————————————————————————
Brier noticed Bulma and the other Z-Fighters returning to the cruise ship. “Ms Bulma, is everything alright?” Brier asked, noticing the look of dismay on the blue-haired woman’s face. “No. We lost sight of Goku and Beerus. And now we don’t know where-” “Boys! Out of the way!” Vegeta shouted, interrupting Bulma and alarming everyone else.
Regardless, Trunks and Goten did as they were told. Everyone looked to see the Saiyan Prince catching his rival/ally in his arms, preventing him from crashing in the ship.
From what Brier could see, Goku’s hair was back to its normal black color, his body bruised and his clothes ripped and torn. “H-Hey. . .nice catch, buddy.” Goku told him. “Shut up, I can’t believe I lent you my power all so that you’d waste it all in defeat.” Vegeta said. “I’m sorry. . .” Goku apologized.
“Don’t let your guard down yet!” Piccolo shouted, noticing that Beerus was descending to the ship. “If anyone can still fight, get behind me and get ready!”
In a minute, Beerus’ feet had touched the floorboards, and he watched as the Z-Fighters got into a battle stance.
Brier and Whis walked towards Beerus and stood by his side. “Nice fighting up there.” Whis said, and added, “You know, we could leave things just as they are. And we could get you home straight into a warm, relaxing bath.”
“I agree with Whis, Beerus. I don’t think that there’s any reason as to why you should destroy this planet. Or is that too much to ask of you?” Brier said. “You know it is, darling. A destroyer must keep his word after all. I only agreed to spare this planet if Goku could beat me, but if I won I’d show no mercy.” Beerus said.
Goku got out of Vegeta’s arms and stood on his own two feet, barely able to keep himself up. “Please, I’m begging you, Lord Beerus. Please don’t destroy my planet.” Goku begged. “There’s gotta be another way.”
“Beerus, can’t you please make an exception?” Brier asked. “No. I cannot.” Beerus said as he began to form a purple ball of energy in his left hand. As the Z Fighters watched in horror, Brier snuck up behind her husband and whispered something the others couldn’t hear. She then exclaimed:
"Peels to og sureeb!"
Brier tapped the back of his head with her fingers, making his eyes close and causing his blast of energy to fly upwards, missing its intended target. The Z Fighters look back at Beerus to see that he had fallen asleep standing up, he was even snoring.
What was going on?
Whis looked from Beerus to Brier and asked, “Milady, did you really make him fall asleep?”
“Of course I did.” Brier answered bluntly.
Bulma walked up to Brier and asked, “Wait a minute, if you could do that this whole time, then why didn’t you do this earlier?”
“Ms Bulma, I usually try to think of more peaceful solutions on how to calm him down when he loses his temper like this. But I’m afraid that he forced my hand this time.” Brier explained. “Besides, I knew that if I did this earlier, Beerus would have been upset if he didn’t have a chance to fight against the Super Saiyan God he was so desperately searching for. Whis and I would have never heard the end of it if I did this earlier.”
Goku stared at the scene before him in shock, but that shock soon turned into that of relief. Earth was safe for the time being. “Just look at him, he’s out cold.” Whis mumbled, looking at his lord to see that a snot bubble had formed. “By the time he wakes up, he probably won’t remember about his threats to destroy your world. At least, I think he will.” he added. “Huh?! You’re only guessing?!” Bulma exclaimed.
Brier then grabbed hold of her husband’s unconscious body and carried him in her arms. “Hey wait, Lady Brier, isn’t Lord Beerus a little heavy for you to carry him like that?” Goku asked. “Not really, he’s quite light actually.” Brier answered tiredly.
"Yeah, I guess he does look. . ." Goku noticed that under her eyes there were dark circles beginning to form, and that her fingertips were starting to turn black and claws were starting to form. “Hey, are you ok? You don’t look very good.” he asked, worried. As soon as he got close, Brier quickly backed away from him. “!”
Dammit! It was happening again. It appears that Brier didn't take as much of Whis' blood as she needed. Her eyes were intensely watching the veins in his neck, and she did her best not to drop Beerus and lunge at Goku. She had to leave immediately. “Lady Brier, what’s wrong?” Goku asked.
“I-I’m fine, I just need to eat and rest when I return home. It’s nothing serious, I promise.” Brier told him with a forced smile. “Ok, if you say so.” Goku said, although part of him believed that she was lying.
As she walked closer to Whis, the angel attendant used his staff to create a cyan bubble around Beerus, so that Brier didn't have to carry him. Brier looked over her shoulder and said, “Also, if we ever visit again, I think it would be wise for you to prepare some pudding for him.”
“In that case, I’ll have a whole swimming pool full of it! But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to hear him complain if it’s not the “wonder food” that he’s imagining.” Bulma said. “Oh, if he dislikes it he won’t say anything, since he’ll destroy the Earth over that.” Whis told her, then shifted his attention to Goku. “Oh, and Goku? Thank you very much for playing with Lord Beerus. It has helped more than you could know. Someday I’ll repay you.”
". . .Ok!" Goku said, smiling.
After making sure that Beerus was holding her right hand, Brier had used her free hand to grab a hold of Whis’ left shoulder. "Well then. Have a nice day." Whis told them as he tapped the ground with his staff, transporting him, Brier, and Beerus off of Earth an into space.
As they traveled, Whis said, “I must say, that was quite a convincing performance, my lord and lady. Although the snot bubble is a little over the top, Lord Beerus.”
“. . .”
“You can stop pretending now, Beerus.” Brier told him, and watched as he woke up from his 'slumber'. “For your information Whis, I wasn’t pretending. Brier really did make me fall asleep. Her spell must have worn off quicker than usual.” Beerus said. "Her magic probably isn't very strong at the moment."
“I see, my mistake then.” Whis muttered. He knew that they were just putting on a show, but he decided no to say anything else about it. Beerus looked at his wife to see her tired expression. “How parched are you, Brier?” he asked.
“Very, I’m afraid.” she answered with a small smile. “I see. When we get home, I’ll feed you like usual.” Beerus also noticed that his wife was getting sleepy, so he said, “If you’re tired, go ahead and sleep for the trip back home. I promise that I’ll wake you when we get back.” Brier nodded and closed her eyes, drifting to sleep.
Upon seeing that Brier was asleep, Whis made another bubble, one that formed around Brier to prevent her from falling into the black void that was outer space.
"Earth is a very strange place. Something about it must have changed those fiendish Saiyans." Beerus said quietly, not wanting to wake up his wife. "It change you as well." Whis told him. "But then again, you also changed a long time ago when you met Brier." "Huh? You say something?" Beerus asked. "It was nothing, my lord."
"Also Whis, thank you for taking care of Brier while I was preoccupied." Beerus said to his attendant.
"?" "I know that you fed Brier your blood." Beerus revealed. "Oh, that. Well, what else was I supposed to do? I couldn't just let her continue to be hungry while she's surrounded by mortals with blood that could have been tempting her." Whis said. "Still, you didn't have to do that. And. . .I appreciate it." Beerus told him.
". . .Thank you, Lord Beerus."

Location: The Sacred World of the Kais. . . .
Kibito Kai and Elder Kai looked up at the sky in their world, using their great sight to check on the planet Earth. At the moment, it appeared that Beerus had spared the planet after all. “All’s quiet again. . .but something’s wrong.” Kibito Kai muttered. “There are still two more worlds missing from their system. And I didn’t even see what happened.”
“Beerus’ rampage must have been worse than we realized.” Elder Kai said.“But are you sure?” Kibito Kai asked, turning his head to look at his senior. “I’m not seeing rubble in space like the other planets that he destroyed. It’s as if something different happened to them, it’s like they just vanished! Almost like an act of magic.”
But instead of getting an answer, what had happened next surprised him.
It appeared that Elder Kai was looking at something rather risque, based on his overly excited facial expressions and with him saying, “Yes, that’s it! Just a bit more to the right!” “. . .” What in the world was his elder looking at?
An idea had popped into Kibito Kai’s head, and his face turned bright red because of it. His immediate course of action was to get in Elder Kai’s way to stop him from his current act of indecency.
“Great Ancestor, what in the world are you staring at?” he questioned, although Kibito Kai was still worried about learning the answer. But Elder Kai didn’t answer the question. Instead, he attempted to move Kibito Kai out of the way. “Step aside, boy! It’s the best part!” he shouted. “Stop it! You’re a Kai, not a peeping tom!”
This continued for a minute or two until finally Elder Kai had pushed his protege out of the way, and let out a disappointed sigh when he got back to what he was doing earlier. “Blast it, he lost. . .” he muttered.
‘Wait, who lost?’ Kibito Kai wondered as he used his powers to see what his ancestor was looking at. There on the planet Earth, Kibito Kai saw two brown horned beetles on a big tree, with one on its back and attempting to get back up.
“What? Horned beetles?. . .” “Yes, that’s right. They were having a doozy of a fight.” Elder Kai said, and then asked, “Wait a minute, what did you think I was looking at?” Embarrassed (and refusing to admit what he initially thought his elder was looking at), Kibito Kai immediately looked up at the sky and exclaimed, “Hey look, it’s a shooting star!”, with his face turning an even darker shade of red.
“Hmmm. . .”

Location: Beerus' Planet, Brier's Room. . . .
The first thing Brier noticed when she woke up was Beerus sitting on the left side of her bed. “Beerus, why are you here?” she asked. “Isn’t it obvious? I’m here to feed you.” he said. Others would think that Beerus would have Whis or Kero prepare a meal for Brier and that he’d bring it to her. But she did not need to eat the food that mortals consume, neither she or her family members needed such things.
Beerus waited for her to get closer to him and he watched as she gently grabbed hold of his right arm and took off his golden arm band. Brier raised his wrist close to her mouth, and sank two razor sharp fangs into his soft flesh. For most, this bite of hers would be quite painful, but not for him. They’ve done this countless times, so he was quite used to it.
He waited until Brier was finished, for which she licked away any little trickles of blood coming from the puncture marks she made. The bite mark was slowly disappearing, by tomorrow, it’d be completely gone.
In an instant, the dark circles under her eyes disappeared and her fingertips were turning back to their normal white coloring. “Are you alright? You didn’t take as much as you usually do.” Beerus said as he put the armband back on.
“I’m fine. I didn’t want to take too much. If I get hungry again, I can just eat one of those fruits in my garden.” she said. “Are you ok, Beerus? You don’t feel lightheaded?” Brier asked, concerned. “I’m fine, just a little sleepy. I think I’ll go take a nap.” Beerus said. Brier nodded and waited for him to leave, but was shocked to see him making himself comfortable on her bed.
“What are you-” “I said I was tired, and I’m too lazy to go to my room right now, so I’ll just sleep here. Do you want to join me?” he said with a teasing smile. Brier’s face turned into a light pink blush, embarrassed by his bold question. “Beerus, are you sure? We don’t normally-" ''I wouldn’t have asked if I wasn’t’ sure. If you don’t want to, that’s fine.” he said, closing his eyes. Brier thought it over for a minute or two.
She didn’t have anything scheduled for today, and the events from earlier today were emotionally draining for her. So a nap sounded quite tempting. And it’s not like she was sleeping with a stranger. How odd was it that they still slept in separate rooms despite being married? They should change that soon.
“Alright. . .I guess it wouldn’t hurt for a little while.” Brier said as she laid beside him. Brier placed her head on a soft pillow and got comfortable. As she fell asleep, she didn’t realize that a certain someone had pulled her close to him and wrapped his arms around her body.

The Prince's Sacrifice [Vegeta & Tifa]
// drabble with @badassbarmaid
The fight between the brainwashed Majin Vegeta and Tifa had supplied more than enough energy to revive Majin Buu, especially once they were righting at full power in their Super Saiyan 2 forms. Once they could sense Buu’s energy, Tifa’s words finally made Vegeta snap out of Babidi’s control. Just like with Cell, this was his doing. But this time he will make sure, it would not be Kakarot that saves them all, Vegeta was adamant he clean up his own mess this time.
So after knocking out Tifa as took out the Sensu Bean Gohan had given her before, he consumed it for himself so he could fight Majin Buu on his own. The pink fat child like monstrosity unfortunately kept regenerating from his every attack, so he knew the only way was to convert all his remaining power into a final explosion that he could not regenerate back from.
Knowing the Namek was nearby with ears able to hear him, Vegeta decided to say his final goodbyes. It would be up to Piccolo if he wished to relay them or not, he couldn’t care less. There was especially a lot he wanted to tell Tifa before he knocked her out, but at least he had the time to say it now.
“Tifa, I’m sorry that things had to come to this. I suppose my instincts fixated on fighting you because deep down, I knew, that you were the only one who could bring me back to my senses. Hmph, to think that a little Saiyan girl like yourself could influence me so much over the years, but I do not regret the time I spent on you.
If I had a daughter instead of a son, I would have liked her to look to you as a role model besides myself. Gohan has clearly gone softer over the years, it could have been much worse if you were not there to keep him training. With me and Kakarot gone, it’s up to you and Gohan to secure the peace. No matter how long it lasts, do not stop your training, who knows when the next threat will come.
As the Prince, it should be his duty to take care of his subjects his and people. I had forgotten about that before we met, Tifa, you are the only one that gave me the respect my royal lineage entails. So just like Kakarot before me, I leave the Earth to you and the others.
Farewell.”
With that all said, he let out a final roar as he released all his remaining energy, filling up the area with a golden hemisphere of destructive light. It was truly goodbye, he knew he could not have a body like Kakarto in the Otherworld. But at least he hoped at the very end, he did not lose his pride as the Prince of all Saiyans.

Goku and Gohan hero/Protagonist situation
This video broke it down to a degree I would never be able to articulate so recommend watching it
youtube
In summary
Goku is an eastern style hero
Gohan is a western style hero
Goku has an intrinsic sense of right and wrong and bettering himself (training, fighting etc) is right to him which means he's able to not only match up to the tough foes but also can potentially make things worse
Where Gohan sense of right and wrong is reliant on his humanity, someone close to him gets hurts that's bad, someone in trouble need to help so he helps that's good, so when there's nothing happening he doesn't really train
But to touch on it…
Could Gohan ever be the real lead?
Yes but not by Toriyama
Like the video said Toriyama most likely just got too comfortable writing with Goku the eastern type of hero in mind and went from Gohan to Goku
With the Buu saga for example
Gohans peak was when Videl was hurt and he went super saiyan in reaction
And when Ultimate Gohan stood up to Super Buu after Buu already killed his mom, Krillin, and co
Basically these two instances stuff happened to him
Whereas the other moments like with Dabura, not much was in “danger” and nothing was directly affecting him Videl was fine and Goku and Vegeta handled their opponents, etc
Then in times of peace, Gohan doesn't have that intrinsic motivation to better himself, if the world is safe he's cool when it's not he will step up from Beerus, to Frieza in resurrection F, and so on
Very much like in comics characters like Spiderman, Superman, etc live daily lives but when something happens they suit up,
They aren't in the gym improving or constantly seeking upgrades etc they use their powers when its time for them too. At most its the regular keeping in shape for those that don't have that automatic means of staying in shape
As instances like Iron man constantly making new suits and Batmans contingencies are more character traits vs a normal hero thing
So back to Gohan being the protagonist
Like in the video the story would have to be more like the movies they've done if they kept Gohan as the lead
A threat appears Gohan faces them once loses then faces them again and wins usually through a powerup like SSJ2 or in the recent movie Beast
It's simple but can say the same for Goku
Goku trains all the time, news of a bad guy/powerful for is out there so Goku goes to fight them, Goku usually loses first then trains than can beat them
The key difference is Goku seeks the enemy, and Gohans enemies come to him
And that Gohan (mostly due to timeframe) gets a power-up where Goku trains and only when desperate a la Super Saiyan on Namek is when he gets a powerup
I think I see why Gokus method is preferred, the training makes the power up feel earned and this side would say Gohan’s power ups aren't earned
But the flip side is that Gohan’s powerups come more from a need than a want, Goku “wants” to get stronger Gohan “needs” to
So when it gets tough and there's no time Gohan *snaps* and releases more power
I think Gohan’s is more emotional as it feels more of a last resort, or a miracle so when he wins its a relief
With Goku, it's more of a satisfaction or earned as he went through ABC and got this reward
I think there is a formula for Gohan but it would take more experimentation as Super Hero had the right idea with making Gohan seek out Pan which in turn had him in all the fights from the middle to end
The tricky part is the power, saying that Gamma 1&2 and Cell Max were as strong as they were and adding that Gohan doesn't train is where the contention comes in
As it's usually in part Gohan has to get back to his previous peak, SSJ2, or Ultimate, and maybe now Beast which makes sense but for many viewers it's disappointing
So I don't know how to fix it as making Gohan train regularly would make him more like Goku but on the flip side if the powers stay down to where Gohan Piccolo and others are it will always have the back in the mind though that Goku and Vegeta would have won similar to the Dabura issue where Vegeta got annoyed and Goku noticed the rust
I would just suggest to the writers over there that next time for a Gohan-focused story read some marvel dc superhero comics and particularly the ones that might fit Gohan’s character more like Superman

Thoughts On Goku staying dead after Cell
So I don’t post much content but this has been in my head rent free for years, so i figured might as well try and use it to change that habit.
Something that is always discussed is how bad of a choice it was for Goku to say dead. In just about all ways this is true. The earth had peace that had nothing to do with Goku not being on earth, Goten didn’t grow up knowing his dad, Gohan never seemed to get over his guilt from cell, and Vegeta never had a chance to find any resolution to the darkest parts of his life before Bobbity took advantage of it. So why do I always feel like coming back after Cell doesn’t feel like something Goku would do?
I thought about that a lot, and recently I realized why I felt this way. I don’t think Goku ever forgives himself. Now a lot of who Goku is is forgiveness, but he only ever forgives people who he thinks can do better. Goku always pushes himself to do better, but its never enough to keep the peace. When Goku was young he broke his grandpas rule and then grandpa Gohan was killed. When krillin first died it was because he went to get Goku’s dragon ball. Every time someone Goku loves gets hurt it was because of him (In his eyes) and i can’t imagine that finding out that he didn’t just get his grandpa killed, but killed him himself helped that in the slightest. All this was just in dragon ball. In Z the stakes just kept getting higher and higher while still being because of himself.
What makes Goku decide that someone can’t do better is always consistent. They keep making the cruel choice when they have both kindness and cruelty as options. Against King Piccolo he was fighting someone who hid as long as possible but kept making games out of people’s lives. Freeza tried to kill Goku after being shown mercy. Cell could have at anytime stop and hid if he truly didn’t want to go out of his way to hurt people, even after managing his main goal of his perfect form. And Goku, while he kept getting his friends killed. He approved of his son getting beat half to death because he didn’t know him as well as he thought he did. He let Freeza survive after Namek because he never put his all in killing him. He almost got Gohan killed by Raddits because he spared his brother once. Even if he meant well Goku has always been a simple enough guy that he views events by how they work out more than anything else. Because things worked out well enough he never had a reason to remove himself. Then he died with no hanging threat and also had no reason to hurt his friends anymore.
Goku I think really thought that he hurt his friends more than he helped them. I think we can see what seeing the world have 7 years of true peace with out him did to his mindset in the Buu saga. This is a Goku who saw the world at peace for longer then it ever had been since he first left Mt. Pazu. A Goku that saw his friends all got to build happy lives with him gone. A Goku who wanted to make sure there was no reason for him to stay so that he would make his friends be hurt because of him anymore. So he gets Trunks and Goten ready to be all the world needs. After all he is back for one day and he ruins Bulma’s family. Vegeta used Bobbity in order to fight Goku after all. Vegeta died because goku held back against him. Gohan “died” because he assumed he was strong enough to have things be right the first time. And he was wrong again.
Goku makes plans so very different then he does against any other villian against Buu. He makes plans to use the dragon balls first insteid of as back ups. He doesn’t even try to out train Buu. He doesn’t want to risk not being strong enough after he the fusion ended. We don’t see Goku acting like his normal self until the fight against Kid Buu. I think thats because of 2 factors, the first is that its a really fun fight for him. Kid Buu is a monster but isn’t actively cruel, just a kid who tantrums threatens everything. Then we have the super spirit bomb. The first time where the world was stronger than goku at his best. I think to him this was proof that he wasn’t alone in either victory or defeat. The be all end all of what earth could do. And the earth all together was stronger than Goku imagined possible. Irrefutable proof that there was ALWAYS some way to get better, a way to save the day. The first day I think Goku could look at his life and really appreciate the fact that he saved the world, that it meant something that he did.
Personally I think this would also help explain his much more lax personality in super compared to the end of Z. Goku was able to forgive himself and was then able to just do what he enjoyed by training and spending time with all the people in the world he loved. He is looked back and didn’t find blame in his faults, for probably the first time since he lost his grandfather.
TLDR: Goku stayed dead because mercy and forgiveness is the same to him, and he had a lot to blame himself for.
#dragon ball#Goku#Long Post#character analysis#probably not anything new but i wanted to put my thoughts down for once#I just really never got over the fact that the very first thing Goku thought of when he leaned about the great ape for was his grandfather#No one ever really told him that his mistake didn't define him#He was always the one telling other people that after all#Its always a lot easier giving advice then taking it#Goku also never dismises his mistakes in any way other than It all worked out didn't it?#and at some point I wonder if that was more to himself then anyone else

"It feels...like those times were so long ago now." For Piccolo!!
I'm not getting the ask meme but assume ALWAYS ACCEPTING
Years of peace after the defeat of Majin Buu really took the bite out of everyone, so it seemed. Excepting The Once and Future Demon King, of course - even the matter of agricultural work, backbreaking for most, and a problem which shifted from day to day, month to month, adapting to strategies used against it, was something he fought with his heart in to render as trivial as possible for the Son Family, to keep the tactical mind running like clockwork.
"Goku, how many times have we been here in this same position before? Peace is good, but how long do you really think it'll last?"

It’s so much worse than I thought.
I didn’t remember all the details.
Roshi wasn’t just traumatized, he’s the first character in the series we meet to have survived an apocalyptic scenario the likes of which only Mirai Trunks has experienced.
Nononono, listen.
Piccolo Daimao terrorized the planet for years after his first fight with Mutaito; only after having isolated himself in intensive training did Roshi’s master develop the Mafūba that finally rid the Earth of the threat at the cost of his life.
Humanity had been pushed to the brink of extinction. Roshi had to bury his master, see to it that Piccolo would never resurface to see the light of day again, and then manually spread word across what pockets of mankind remained that the demons were gone.
This is in an era that predated the Briefs family, or at least their genius, and Korin’s Senzu beans; no capsules, probably no hovercars or phones, no way to provide proof to anyone that the evil had been vanquished, no magic to heal him, not even a companion to travel the world with as he licked his wounds. He was driven away more than once;
“He’s in league with the monsters! Drive him away; they want us to lower our guard!” “No, no, I swear it’s true, he’s gone!” “GET OUT OF HERE, YOU... YOU TRAITOR!”
People were too afraid to believe at first; even when, after a stretch of peace, they were willing to listen, Roshi still had to bear the weight of helping rebuild under the rueful eyes of orphaned children, of those who missed loved ones who’d been killed and asked Why couldn’t you have saved them?!
One day, Roshi would look back and be glad that anyone had come out of that terrible era with the spirit and strength left to still be angry, but that time only came decades later; in the moment, he has no answer, because he’s still grieving himself.
If the timeline of the events prior to Dragon Ball are to be believed, he’s also in his twenties, thirty at most.
He and Shen are quasi-immortals walking an Earth that’s slow in recovering, decades out from thriving the way it might have prior to Piccolo’s reign. The two of them can’t help but cross paths over the decades; Shen bitter, hateful, Roshi lost and wrestling with himself to preserve the teachings of his master.
They fight; once like Kuririn and Goku, the deterioration of their friendship isn’t quick or painless, but a slow decay; Roshi can’t abide by Shen’s bastardization of martial arts into assassination techniques, Shen can’t help scoffing at Roshi’s sentimentality. Where Roshi’s resentment all flows inward, Shen directs his outward, at the world, deciding in his fury that he has the right to be as hateful and cruel as he deems fit.
They hurt each other, only with words at first; Shen holds too much begrudging respect for Roshi as the only other martial artist that faced Piccolo and survived, Roshi clinging too much to the friendship that once was to do more than disagree with how Shen handles their master’s death.
At times, they manage to even emulate what once was; they pull pranks, raise a mythical beast; for but a small time, their sense of fun overlaps.
That doesn’t last.
No one knows who says what, or which of them breaks that tentative understanding that they wouldn’t come to blows; only that they do, and after that, fighting is the only way they communicate when they run into each other.
And the day eventually comes when they don’t even have that; Roshi realizes, looking at Shen, who has earned the title in seedier, darker circles of Tsuru Sen’nin, has become little better than a hostile stranger that Roshi doesn’t even recognize.
They go out of their way to avoid each other after that; Hell, they’re both respective masters. It’s easy enough to do.
Not that it doesn’t hurt.
That break in their friendship doesn’t happen quickly, though, and Roshi has to watch the world come back together while his spirit is still at sea, still weighed down by his sin of being alive.
He happens upon the sacred land of Korin purely by chance; the natives recognize in him almost immediately his weariness and fatigue of violence and label him a non-threat.
“You have lost much.” “You can tell?” “Anyone with eyes could. Besides, these days, it is rarer to meet anyone who has not lost.”
His unintentional trespass is forgiven, not because the natives are inherently noble, simply because the world is broken and is especially wanting for kindness. Roshi passes perhaps a day or two in their company, perhaps shares his sad story, before he asks about the looming tower.
“It predates anyone alive by centuries; many have tested themselves trying to climb it, but few can claim success.”
Roshi thinks on what more he could’ve done, of the possibility that his master might have survived if only he’d been that much stronger.
He makes the climb.
What passes between him and the immortal cat no one knows, but he’s a little nearer to whole when he’s through, sturdier, stronger... he’s more prepared this time to venture into the world again. He manages a smile when he parts way with the natives, flies on Kinto’un to find people who might need help and practice his martial arts in the name of defending innocent lives; not quite happy yet purposeful.
That bough breaks anew when those with a more natural lifespan begin to die around him.
Roshi still isn’t well equipped to cope well with death; the realization that, if he continues interacting with the world, he’ll have to witness death even he, whose name has been murmured alongside titles such as the God of Martial Arts, cannot prevent.
Time begins to pass differently for him, then, as he doesn’t stay in one place for too long at a time, keen on avoiding too much attachment to any one place or group of friends.
It’s around the time that martial arts has experienced enough a resurgence as to be celebrated again in the form of the Tenkaichi Budokai, for the horror that was the war against Piccolo Daimao and his demons to pass into the stuff of bedtime stories and legends, that people tentatively start seeking him out for tutelage.
And Roshi’s conflicted; on the one hand, does he deserve to call himself a Master as Mutaito was to him? On the other, how better could he honor his master’s legacy than to pass on his own teachings?
Gohan and Ox-King are the ones fortunate enough to break the stalemate in Roshi’s conscience.
The results, decades on, are the last straw that drive him into a life of more or less permanent solitude. Utterly alone with no trace of human interaction or any reason to even use Kinto’un with access to capsules, water he can filter, and entertainment he chose without much thought, the isolation of many decades nonetheless... gets to him.
Until one, unsuspecting day, his friend Turtle, having gone missing many weeks ago, suddenly reappears with talk of a kind, spiky-haired child...

Welcome, Guardian Family!
I recently embarked on the journey to create a Dragon Ball inspired world in The Sims 3! Here is the Guardian family, consisting of Yajirobe, Piccolo, Dende, Mr. Popo, and Korin (which is just a cat).
Their bio reads:
The Guardian household is an eclectic mix of Earth's protectors, residing at the sacred Lookout high above the planet's surface. Led by the wise Namekian Piccolo and the young Guardian Dende, this group is dedicated to maintaining peace and balance on Earth.
From the enigmatic Mr. Popo to the mischievous samurai Yajirobe and the sage cat Korin, each member brings their own unique skills and personality to the table. Though their backgrounds may differ, they are united in their commitment to safeguarding the world from threats both celestial and terrestrial.

Note
How come Goku and those that end up at Kaiō-sama’s place post mortem rarely use the telepathic communication method he provides outside of dire situations? It would have been excellent in encouraging Gohan during his training with Piccolo and coordinating efforts with the Dragon Team just before the two Saiyans made landfall, would have been an excellent way to keep long distance communication open during the Namek excursion and would have DEFINITELY been useful in making sure Gohan didn’t miss a day of training in the 7-years of peace after Cell’s demise considering that he would have both Goku and King Kai in his ear constantly reminding him to keep training in case an upcoming threat is several times stronger than Cell the same way the Androids exceeded Freeza’s undeveloped power by orders of magnitude.
Because he probably doesn't want to be a fucking telephone, lmao.

Why Insure Your Woodwinds with Piccolo Insurance?
The piccolo, with its bright, piercing melody, adds a touch of magic to any orchestra. But for the musician wielding it, this delicate instrument demands respect, protection, and care. While proper handling and storage are crucial, even the most cautious musician can face unforeseen mishaps. It is where dedicated musical instrument insurance takes center stage. Although invisible, it creates a safety net and peace of mind that's irreplaceable.
Imagine this: you are on your way to a critical audition, your piccolo nestled securely in its case. Suddenly, there's a bump in the road, your bag shifts, and your heart sinks as you hear a sickening thud. Accidents happen, and a damaged or lost piccolo can be a devastating blow, both emotionally and financially.
Insurance protects your instrument against:
Theft: Whether at a concert hall, rehearsal space, or even your own home, theft is a real threat. A protection plan ensures you'll be compensated for the stolen instrument.
Accidental Damage: A dropped instrument, a bump during travel, or even a rogue water spill - these can all cause damage that can be expensive to repair or may require complete replacement.
Loss: Losing your piccolo, whether misplaced during travel or simply vanishing from a music stand, can be a heartbreaking experience. Dedicated policies provide financial reimbursement in such situations.
Beyond the Basics: What to Consider When Choosing an Insurance Plan
Not all Piccolo insurance policies are created equal. Make sure to consider the following key factors beforehand:
Coverage: There are two main types of coverage: "all-risk" and "named perils."
All-risk: This offers the broadest protection, covering your piccolo against virtually any cause of loss or damage (excluding those specifically listed in the policy exclusions).
Named perils: This covers only events documented in the policy, such as fire, theft, or vandalism. For additional protection against accidental damage, you'll need to add an endorsement (additional coverage) to your policy.
Valuation: There are two main valuation methods:
Replacement cost: This reimburses you for the current market value of your instrument at the time of loss.
Agreed value: This pre-determines the value of your instrument at the policy inception. This ensures you receive the full amount you paid for the instrument, regardless of depreciation.
Deductible: It is that amount of money that you need to shell out of pocket before your plan commences. A higher deductible generally translates to a lower premium, but consider your risk tolerance and budget when making this decision.
Additional Features: Look for policies that offer benefits like worldwide coverage, 24/7 claims support, or coverage for additional instruments you may own.
Reasons Why Insurance Deserves a Place in Your Musician's Toolkit
Financial Protection: Replacing a high-quality piccolo can be expensive. A policy covers the cost of repair or replacement, saving you a significant financial burden.
Peace of Mind: Knowing your instrument is insured allows you to focus on your music and performance without the constant worry of potential damage or loss.
Worldwide Coverage: Many policies offer worldwide coverage, providing protection even when you're traveling with your Piccolo.
Unexpected Events: Good plans cover a wider range of situations than just simple drops. Theft, vandalism, and fire are all potential threats that insurance safeguards against.
Making an Informed Decision
Here are some additional steps to ensure you choose the right policy:
Read customer reviews: These can offer valuable insights into the claims processing experience with each provider.
Contact customer support: Ask detailed questions about specific coverage details, exclusions, and claims procedures.
Consider bundling: If you own other instruments, bundling coverage with the same provider may offer discounts.
The Final Note
Investing in piccolo insurance demonstrates not just your financial prudence, but also your dedication to your instrument and musical journey. By carefully considering your needs and comparing options, you can secure the peace of mind that allows you to focus on creating beautiful music without the fear of unforeseen circumstances. Remember, even the most skilled musician can't control the unexpected.
