What I love about Hellboy and Abe Sapien's dynamic in the comics is that, if you came into this blind, you'd expect Abe to be the voice of reason or the straight man to Hellboy's impulsive and hotheaded personality. But no, Abe is more often than not the crazy one. Hellboy would deal with fighting evil monsters and bad guys by just sighing and getting it over with, while Abe is going rabid over tearing the creature apart when he does get into a fight. Hellboy acts like it's a 9-to-5 job and will reasonably talk things out with a guy that had nearly killed him before, Abe acts like a madman in a slaughter house and his first instinct is to shoot first kill second and ask third. They're both insane, but on completely different levels.

Imagine if you were a gay or bi man who tried a certain firefighter show because of all the attention it was getting for one of its mains having a later in life bi awakening.....and between seasons you ventured into its fandom in search of material to tide you over til the next one. And you're greeted by a deluge of posts and fics that are just cheerfully homophobic towards one half of the newly out bi character's canon relationship on the basis of 'well he's not the RIGHT gay guy' and pushing the idea that actually its fine to cheat on him because Reasons and he's sexually predacious based on......behind the scenes implications people have divined like they're reading fucking tea leaves.

But don't get it twisted....this fandom, like all fandoms, really cares about representation!

Sorry not sorry, but we really need to kill this idea that fandoms are welcoming and inviting and inherently progressive when they're frequently insular and reductive as fuck. Every single fandom I've been in has had major trends of people doubling down on their own headcanons and fanon interpretations of the characters and willfully enacting trends aimed at running off people who like the 'wrong' characters (usually characters marginalized along one or multiple axes), like the characters in the 'wrong ways' or other bullshit.

Scott is a Bad Friend fics overtaking Teen Wolf fandom was not incidental, it was a FEATURE of the fandom, because the vast majority of that fandom did not want to share its space with anyone who had the nerve to like its main character. Survivors complaining about or criticizing the prevalance of rape fics in a certain fandom has in my experience always led to a reactionary UPTICK in those fics, with gems like 'this character can, will, must be raped' in the tags making it crystal clear that some of these fics exist because how fucking DARE anyone try and push forth a narrative not agreed upon by Fandom Main.

I could cite examples for so many other fandoms, with the commonalities always being that vast majorities in these fandoms are explicitly reacting defensively to being asked to be more mindful of fandom trends revolving around or exacerbating racism, homophobia, transphobia, rape or abuse apologia, ableism, etc....

With the most prolific fucking rallying cry across countless fandoms being "No the fuck we will NOT be doing that," because lolololol.....

Fandom is an inherently progressive space, didn't you hear?

the police officers’ frantic faces as all three of them tase the guy who is currently attempting an axe murder, acting like theyre trying to exorcise a demon which may very well be what he is

and gitae who looks either completely unbothered or mildly annoyed at the officers for tasing him and interrupting his leisurely homicide by making his axe miss its mark

Movie tie-in games are kind of a thing of the past, (I hate saying this, it makes me feel so old, this was big in the 2000s/early 2010s damnit that wasn't that long ago 😭) but god do I want a TF One game so badly. Mostly I just want more TF One, and if we've managed to collectively save it from Badly Marketed Movies Hell where it was going to rot alongside the likes of Disney's Treasure Planet due to Paramount's nonexistent marketing, it'll be at least like two years until TF Two and the lack of marketing material means we have Nothing but the film itself in terms of official content. A tie-in game would be so dope, give me an RPG set in TF One's continuity where I can make my own little robot blorbo and choose a side. I think it could work really well with the movie's worldbuilding and where it left off.

So I've been playing BBPSX again and again instead of playing the other games I've been meaning to (I swear I'm playing Signalis after this run) and I was wondering what went into what weapons made the cut, especially with the new weapons. Some seem pretty self explanatory, like the axe and BoM are already in there, may as well make them usable. Although it is interesting that you moved the axe to after Gascoigne.

great question!

basically i wanted each stat to have at least one dedicated trick weapon for each stat so no one felt left out. this meant that i converted the saw spear to scale off of bloodtinge and why the tonitrus was added as well (for arcane users).

i made the axe a weapon u find in the game world instead of a starter weapon because theres only 6 weapons in the game, meaning that if there were 3 starter weapons that would be literally half the entire roster which felt imbalanced.
