i'm once again going to talk about varinia's voice ! i picked evetta muradasilova as lady maria (data mined voice lines for reference, if needed). i knew i wanted varinia's voice to be soft & monotone like that, but the maiden in black, the doll & the alpha version of queen annalise all fell flat, but there was a quality in maria's voice that just worked. probably the fact that she has a firmness & aloofness to her that the doll just doesn't have. also, having been raised in garlemald, she will have picked up the accent. while this is received pronunciation in-game (SNOOOORE), i like to imagine their language is a blend of classical latin & old church slavonic, hence me settling on a russian voice claim for her.
