in news from grad life, my supervisor asked me about phd plans today and upon hearing i want to take a few years to do various non-academic things before i start one, immediately produced an application form for a scholarship to study abroad in iceland for a year? like this was not remotely on the radar of what i was planning for next year but tbf i hadn't actually planned that much, and i was initially looking at a master's programme in iceland before i settled on the one i've actually ended up on, so... why not! could be living in iceland this time next year! sometimes niche, half-buried teenage dreams do come true!

this semester is awful, i just want it to be over already. my mental health has been getting worse, i don’t even want to talk about my physical health, and i’ve generally been miserable. i’m behind everything in multiple classes. the thing is, my grades are definitely high enough to pass the semester (i just need a 10/20 for this), except i need way higher grades (≈16/20). the french school system is bullshit, so everyone knows the grades aren’t representative, and if i want to study abroad one day i basically need full scores in everything or i won’t be accepted. like, schools abroad consider a 12/20 to mean we’ve failed the class. my first semester’s grades were amazing but it’s all going downhill this semester and it’s so frustrating. i can’t even listen in class so ofc i can’t do these 10 pages essays for next week and i won’t be ready for the "you have 3 hours to tell me absolutely everything that happened in this time period and it needs to be at least 9 pages" final exams. also my disability accommodations are either useless or not respected ! i’m exhausted.

ah, well, so about that. most of the languages in that list are supposed to be crossed out ! back when I made my blog you could do a few html things in the blog description, but it doesn't show up anymore, especially not on the app/mobile. so now it just looks like a long list of languages which is a bit misleading

I am definitely interested in all those languages, and have taken a few classes or self-studied most of them over the years, but I definitely don't speak all of them
